Colin so they know we sent you. What is going on? Everybody, John Middle Cops, three and out podcast back at it again on February 28th to Monday. And we're rocking and rolling. As you can tell, I'm a man on the mend. Man on the mend. But it was not a fun week. Now part of it is RIP Elliot Schwartz, my doctor, passed away within the last couple months. Love the guy. Absolutely loved Elliot. Doctor for the A's and the Raiders for a long time and the Warriors. Absolute man.

Honestly, one of my good friends, you know, in Northern California, in the Bay Area for sure. He was older. He's, you know, his mid-70s, but we became, and we text all the time. He was a diehard sports guy. I haven't got a new doctor. And I haven't needed one. And clearly I need some man. products last week, but I was hoping the over-the-counters would get it done, and they just didn't,

they just didn't get it done. You know, it's like, you lose Trent Williams, your backup left tackle probably isn't as good. Sometimes you think you can get by and you just can't get by. Sudafed, mucinin, you name it. They just did not get the job done, but, you know, you give me a week, I'm good to go. My voice is back. A little trick of the trade, you heat up a little water. I'm not a big tea guy. I'm more of a coffee guy. I like, I like coffee. I like something that packs of punch. I like Arnold Palmer's and John Daly's. but I just don't do hot tea. That's not really my style.

That's just, I don't even like the taste actually is not terrible. I just don't drink it. But when your voice is struggling, heat up some water, just hot water. It's good for your voice. I didn't attend this year. I don't really know why. But yeah, I'll just be watching it like, yo, you guys. I got boots on the ground. I know some people. that are there. So we'll, as stories come out, definitely for Friday's pod. I'm sure there'll be a ton of news. We'll dive into a little bit off the top. Kyler Murray. Oh my God, Kyler Murray. I mean, holy, what a diva. We will dive into the Eric Burkart. I actually know

them. We were texting, you know, probably late into the season. A friend would be strong, but I definitely known him for a while. I have his number. We've communicated several times. I have a theory on this one though. Rogers wants $50 million a year. And then we'll just dive into some league, just stuff that's, that happened over the weekend. Some, I wouldn't say breaking news, but just we have a Hall of Fame game,

some international games, Sean McVeigh, $100 million. Amazon, no thanks. I'll give you some thoughts on all that. Of course, Middilcoff Mailbag at John Middlecoff, at John Middlecoff. Maybe I'll read off a couple mailbags. We've been pushing the mailbag to the weekend.

Let's dive into some football. Okay, I was going to start with the combine, but, you know, let's start with Kyler Murray,

who had his 8. agent Eric Burkart release a statement that, you know, was just way too long. And I've said it for a while. I'm out on Kyler Murray. I've been out on Kyler Murray. This does not change any of that. This just validates what I already thought. This is the reason I'm out on him. Drama queen. Absolute drama queen. Leadership question marks. Does his own franchise slash team like him. And then there's the football aspect. Small, broken down now multiple times

down the stretch of a season. We've seen him in one playoff game and he shriveled like Costanza in the pool. Like that happened. We all witnessed that. Jimmy Garoppolo, who we all pick apart and rightfully so, was much better against the Rams than Calum. I mean, that

was one of the worst efforts we've ever seen from a talented player in a playoff game. I'm out. Now, the Cardinals, they're not out. They're kind of stuck. And like I said, I've known Burkhart for a little while. I like him.

I actually think a couple years ago he came on this podcast. I can't remember what we talked about, but he represents Cliff. He represents Kyler. My theory on this one, because I can't imagine any agent worse their salt would recommend doing this. You're not winning a public. campaign for a player that the fans are probably iffy on. At best, on the fence on.

If you wanted to pull one of these with, let's say, Lamar Jackson or a Devante Adams, a player on that given team that the fan base would run through a wall for, I could understand it, though I would also push back against it. It's 2022. Playing stuff through the media, no one gives a shit in the NFL. The NFL is determined by the owner and the general manager

what they want to do and what they want to pay you. The quote unquote fan pressure. Also, this ain't the Steelers. This ain't the Eagles. This ain't the Niners. This ain't the Cowboys. This is the Cardinals. Do they have the biggest fan base,

the most important fan base, the most powerful fan base? And listen, I know we got some Cardinal fans listening, but you just don't. And the reality is this franchise now, over the last 15 years, has seen great players who are all,

also great people. Honey Badger. Team captain, several teams. Actually, three separate teams. Callais Campbell, pretty sure he's won the Man of the Year Award. Carson Palmer, beloved by everyone that's ever met him. Kurt Warner. All I have to say is Kurt Warner and that invokes like, what a guy.

These are Larry Fitzgerald. Larry Fitzgerald. These are the type players. that have played for this franchise. So the fan base, but most specifically, the owner and the general manager that has been there for two decades, has seen, been around,

and paid a premium for all these players. And he understands what they look like, what they talk like, what they act like, and what they play like. So Kyla Murray released his statement that basically read like a third person writing something that he wanted.

Me, me, me, me, I, I, I, aye, aye, aye, aye. And the first paragraph in the statement is the stats. and what he's accomplished. Like Kyler, we have Wikipedia. We can look up how many touchdowns you thrown. We understood that you came to a bad team and help them get good. No one disputes that you're a scrub.

No one thinks that you're some average player. But you also, part of the second paragraph was like, I've given them an offer and they have yet to counter. Well, let me roll it back for a second. Lamar Jackson, who was in the same position as Kyler last year, where there's a big difference, they've never had one issue with Lamar Jackson as a person,

as a leader, as a guy the team rallies around. Two, Lamar is much more accomplished on the field. MVP's, when you start listening, Pro Bowls, Pro Bowls, Mac Jones was just in the fucking Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl is irrelevant to me. I don't care how many Pro Bowls you've went to.

It doesn't matter anymore. It's been diluted. This isn't the 80s and the 90s when no guys backed out. Josh Allen literally backed out of the pro ball and played golf at Pebble Beach. But I view Kyler's comp as Lamar Jackson. The problem is Lamar also didn't get paid through the third year

and he's a way better and more consistent human being who the team internally loves. I got news for you, Kyler. They don't want to pay you right now. I also got news for you. They ain't going to pay you. If they do, they're morons. And this statement, I don't know.

understand what it brings, what it does, what it impacts. Like, Twitter? What are we doing? But Kyler, who is the ultimate me-I guy, because ultimately he's a baseball player. Ultimately, it's all about him. He talked about how the team has improved because of him. Yeah, I'd say their defense got a lot better this year. DeAndre Hopkins added something to the table.

I'd say A.J. Green was pretty darn good. But that's how he thinks. Does Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes talk like that? me, me, I-I. They don't speak like that. Kyler, to me, feels like he belongs in the NBA or Major League Baseball. Not in the NFL playing quarterback. You can play wide receiver with this mindset.

Antonio Brown did for years. Had a Hall of Fame level career. Same with Terrell Owens. You can't play quarterback like this. And I would imagine the owner can say whatever he wants, the general manager can say whatever he wants. They got to be like, we're so screwed. Because we're stuck.

Now, we don't need to pay the guy, but ultimately Steve Kime tied his career to two people. A coach who's very flawed in Cliff Kingsbury and a quarterback who they clearly don't want to pay after three years, who's the number one overall pick, and is a complete pain in their ass right now. Complete pain in their ass. Release a statement before the combine trying to pressure them about, we've given you a contract. Well, of course you have. I bet it says five, six years, $140 million guaranteed. We're not paying you that, my man.

That's not happening right now. So you can be mad, you can be all hot and bothered, you can be edgy and delete all your Instagram accounts. I don't care. This is a terrible look for Kyler Murray, and it just doesn't matter what his contract demands are. It makes zero sense for the Arizona Cardinals to pay him right now. And he's going to get mad,

and you want to hear my prediction? I bet if he doesn't get paid this offseason, he's going to hold out. The Cardinals now have an official disaster on their hands. Their most important player, because every team's is, they're starting quarterback. The guy they drafted number one overall

But a story, you know, I don't exactly know where it started, maybe Florio. I saw it on the internet streets that Aaron Rogers potentially, wants $50 million a year. And let me state this very, very clearly. He's well worth $50 million a year.

So would Tom Brady, so would Patrick Mahomes, so would the Josh Allen that we saw this year? No problem paying Aaron Rogers $50 million a year. But I do think when you bring up Tom Brady, and I look this up, I just don't think we spend enough time about talking when we discuss Tom, how little he takes to be the starting quarterback.

Because deep down Tom knew, when Tom was Aaron's age, he had made about $200 million. And I looked it up that Aaron Rogers has made $263 million. So then when they were the same age, Rogers has made more. Now Tom has made $290 million.

But when he left New England, he had made about $230 million. And he was always taking undermarket deals. Because ultimately Tom knew that we're not talking about steel union workers. We're not talking about the bagger at the grocery store. Even if you take a pay cut, you still make $25 million. And because Tom won Super Bowls, MVP's, hit a bunch of incentives, I looked, he made $28 and $29 million.

So he almost made $30 million his two years in Tampa. And obviously because of two years ago, he's going to get his number retired there. He might even get a statue there. And one thing I think Tom has always understood that this is all kind of monopoly money, and I'm going to make a ton off the field as well. But because I'm going to be a champion so many times over, I'm going to be so valuable off the field for the rest of my life. And he obviously went longer.

So from 44 years old to whenever it ends, my value is going to be higher than everyone else. I've said it forever. I've seen it where I live. Ronnie Lott, Steve Young, Brent Jones lived here forever. Joe Montana has an apartment in the city. Saw him out one time in San Francisco. Their value around this area because they're three, four-time Super Bowl champions. Steve Young's only won the one.

but he's never been viewed at that level as the other guys. Jerry Rice, who still does commercials with Brett Fav. And I think when Aaron Rogers, who is well worth $50 billion, but in a league that the salary cap is real, and as a position where you need help around you, and Tom really understood that when he got to Tampa because that team was loaded. And then they ran it back and they spent all that money

to help him out surrounding him. I say this all the time about Matt Stafford. if I'm Matt Stafford and I've already accumulated $250 plus million when I'm going to sign this contract extension with the LA Rams here's what I know because they just showed me they will do anything absolutely everything to stack up this team there is no penny that they won't spend so I've already accumulated a shitload of money and even if I'm going to take $30 million a year what if I signed a four year $120 million deal averaging $30 million a year, every penny guaranteed. Think of what that could do.

Stafford, what if you end your career with three Super Bowls? And I'd say this to Aaron Rogers. I'd say, well, maybe you just care about making the most money humanly possible and never winning another Super Bowl. Because I thought this was your best team of the last half decade, and you didn't even make it, you didn't win one playoff game. You got beat by a team that couldn't score an offensive touchdown. That's who beat you.

A team that did not score an offensive touchdown. you need help. And even as great as you are, and I think, unlike Howard, I think Rogers, one of the best players I've ever seen. But for the first time, in that game against the Niners,

I thought, how did he lose this game? He's got to have something a little more. Tom Brady would not have lost that game. I do, I'm not, you know, I'm not a hot take guy.

I don't, I don't even care about that stuff. But Tom Brady would not have lost that game of the Niners. Zero chance. Absolutely zero chance. Roger's lost. I'm not putting it all on him

but he has to win that game and he didn't he needs help like is it outrageous to think four years if you're gonna stay in Green Bay and maybe by the time you're listening this he's got on McAfee and he says he's leaving

maybe he says he's staying what about four years 140 million dollars 35 million dollars a year every penny guaranteed you will end your career he's made 263 million dollars

he will end his career with four $400 million on the field. Could he have made $450? Sure. But ultimately, do you want to be viewed as a guy that won multiple Super Bowls? Are we just talking about a guy with all these MVPs just the one Super Bowl a decade and a half ago?

I know it's not a decade and a half ago, but by the time, you know, in three or four years, if he has a won one one, it'll be 15 years since he won a Super Bowl. Like what ultimately separated Tom, you're getting rich no matter what. Aaron, you're already rich. You won the lottery. Literally. You're worth hundreds of millions of dollars. You've probably made another $150 off the field.

But like, it's time to separate yourself. And the only way you can is like, yeah, you take a quote unquote discount, a discount making $35 million a year, $38 million a year. You take $50 like your team's just not going to be as good. And we've seen you with good teams. You can't win the Super Bowl. It doesn't happen. You get close, but it just doesn't happen. So I don't think it's inconceivable.

Wrong word. I don't think it's out of pocket or just if you have to. a little bit of just a big picture understanding. Because what's an extra $5 million is going to do to the guy a year? Like, what is that going to change his life? It's not going to change it at all. It's all about respect. And I've got to make the most money possible.

Yeah, but don't you want to win? Like, you've already made, you've accumulated a stupid amount of wealth. And you're going to get paid again, a lot of money. But isn't it time now to like, look at Drew Brees. Peyton Manning. Listen, I love Peyton. But all those guys were Tom Condon guys. They were obsessed with every penny.

they didn't win that many Super Bowls. That's why Tom's in a different world than all those guys. Tom saw, like, you know what, I can take a little bit less. We'll stack my squad and I'll win chips. And I also went to nine Super Bowls. Aaron's only been to one. I'll say at least Payton went to four. Drew only went to one.

So you can take every penny you want, but in the NFL when you do that, and no one's asking the guy to make $7 million a year. But is it the most outrageous thing to be like, you know, do you think it's that crazy to like, you know, make $32 million a year and give these guys some extra cash and they'll build it up? Again, they'd have to, I think Goudicens has showed like they will spend money. But if you don't want to do that, like I will not expect you to win another Super Bowl again in your life. Okay, let's dive into the combine. I want to thank everyone that sent me show recommendations. I fired through the Kanye documentary. I don't know how if you watch that. Now, granted, When college dropout came out, his first album, I was a freshman in college. And I, you know, like most people that were born in the 80s that grew up on, you know, all the 90 hip-hop guys. I love rap. And it's one of the best albums.

And really, his first two albums were just incredible. He was a game changer. So I was a huge Kanye West fan. I listened to that. Both those two, I mean, really on my iPod, those don't even exist anymore. You know, in college, nonstop. that documentary is one of the most inspiring things I've ever seen. Whether you like him or not, just watch that thing.

That guy willed himself. Now, listen, he obviously had a ton of talent. And he was a talented producer to be able to be in front of, you know, all these Jay-Zs and Jamie Foxes and all these people. But that guy's ability to sell himself, his belief in himself, and his inability to ever tap out is admirable. That thing, that thing gets your juice is flown. It really does.

I, uh, I didn't quite know that much about his story. I mean, I did, you know, producer turned rapper, all that. But I didn't quite understand. It's fantastic. So all the people that recommended me, the Kanye documentary, listen, if you're around my age, obviously Kanye was a massive, massive phenomenon

when I was in 2004 or 2005 when I was in college but that that thing was sweet that documentary was awesome and I also started dope sick

I'm paying for it I hadn't watched it in six months it's really good it's Michael Keaton it's about oxy cotton it's like a high level Netflix level show. Hulu's got pretty good content.

I watched Tommy and Pam. That was actually pretty good too. I don't think people quite understand. You know, I was like in junior high when that sex tape came out. How big of a freaking deal that was. It's not even possible now. One, because sex tapes, Dave Pornoyce had sex tape. Like, no one even cares.

It's porn? I mean, press two buttons on our phone. But obviously the porn industry was huge. but that sex tape, she was so big. I would say that when I think hot chicks and famous women in the 90s, I think Cindy Crawford and Pam Anderson. They're like Tom Brady and Michael Jordan of women. And that sex tape, I didn't really, Tommy Lee's a little before my time.

I just knew she was like married to this rocker. But it's, that was good. But not, it was solid. It was, it was solid. It was an entertaining watch. I actually watched the first episode and I'm like, I read this Rolling Stones article that I think they must have just written the show off the Rolling Stones article.

It was good. It was entertaining. The dude and the girl that played Tommy and Pam pulled it off pretty well. But if you're younger and listening to this, like in your early mid-20s, I know we got some guys in college, I don't think you can comprehend how big that tape was.

I really don't. And really how big she was. because there are so many, like I follow so many, listen, if you just check out who I'm following on Instagram, it's like, you know, following a lot of people. I don't know any of these women what they're doing. Instagram models, Instagram, whatever. They're not actually that big.

I mean, they got 10 million followers, 5 million followers, whatever. She was, I mean, massive. Massive. And that tape was huge. Baywatch was a big deal. You know, I mean, we, I love Baywatch. I love that opening

that opening song Hasselhoff great show I mean it was a really good show but she was a big deal kind of like the combine and really what's a big deal

at the combine is like this week this draft is a little weak it just is especially at the top this week is actually not as much

about the draft as you think because the kids are going there they're going to get their medical and you get 15 minutes with them but really it's speed day You're not going to gain that much from your interview with them.

Now, you can argue first impressions, and they matter. Maybe, you know, the scouts have usually met most of the guys. Maybe not some of the underclassmen, but it's going to be the first time many of the GMs and all the head coaches are going to meet these guys. Now, as you've seen, not all the head coaches are going. Sean McVeigh's out. Peter Schrager wrote a couple coaches are out.

I wouldn't be shocked if that's LaFleur and Kyle Shanahan. Now, ultimately, this is not a head coach's job. The job of this week is your GM to gather information on these guys, more information, and really your contract guy, whether that's your GM or whether that's separate, to find out with the agents of... Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.

And also there's a curveball because we have potential, you know, Deshawn Watson. Could Russell Wilson get traded? You know, people sniffing around is Tom Brady for sure retired. Like that is all going on this week because the free agency, I'm recording this on the 28th is the 17th. So you're talking 17 days away. And really that quote unquote,

uh, whatever it's called those first couple days where you're legally allowed to tamper. Like, it's, that's two weeks away. The draft is two months away. You got time to interview. This is all about the NFL players, or at least a large percentage of it is.

Because all these guys, whether they work out or not on the field, they have a pro day. So you get to see them work out again. So I really believe that this week, the number one thing that all these GMs are doing is trying to find out about the players in the league. All these teams with new coaches,

the Miami Dolphins, the Minnesota Vikings, like, hey, would you like to trade so-and-so? Hey, is Harrison Smith, could he be had? Hey, would you give us... I was going to say, I don't even know who the Giants have that's worth a shit. But you know what I mean? Asking and sniffing around all these teams.

And then other players that you know might be available doing your due deal on those. Talking with other GMs, talking with the agents, and gathering the market value of these players. so you can come back next week and really have a plan of attack. Obviously, you go to the combine with a plan of attack, but you don't have all the information. And then once you get to the combine as a GM, as a contract negotiator, as an assistant GM, you start gathering intel.

And then you start putting the piece of the puzzle. Well, hey, it's going to cost us this much for Stefan Gilmore. If we wanted to trade for this guy, it's going to cost us a second round pick. If we want to get to Sean Watson, this is what they're asking. You just start going down the checklist, obviously depending on the team. But hey, Russell wants to do this. Hey, Aaron Rogers is leaning this way. And it dictates the way you think and approach,

you know, really the next two months. And then you start kind of figuring out what's on the draft. Do we need to sign Stefan Gilmore when there's four corners that we can draft in the first couple rounds? That's what you're doing. And, you know, it's a cool part. It's a long week. And it's a week where you get to go out and have a good time, but you also are putting in a lot of time.

and the guys that are laser-focused and the guys that are separating themselves, like it's one thing, like Mike Vrable and the coach is going out and getting blasts, whatever, who cares? They don't, this is not their, this is John Robinson's time to shine. This is John Lynch,

and, you know, you just go, Howie Rosebin, Joe Shane, used to go around all the GMs, Mickey Loomis, it's their time to figure everything out. Really, this is kind of a coach, screw around time.

This is what the GMs get paid for. This next week. This is what all the scouts get paid for. And obviously, the college players do matter. And this is part of the puzzle. But it's, to me, a pretty small puzzle. The medical stuff, but the teams, your doctors and trainers do all that stuff. Right?

The way in and stuff, you're just standing there. You're going to get the information no matter what, and you get the video. So this is really the start of the 22-23 season. Sean McVeigh turned down $100 million to go to TV. I've said for a while he's going to make $20 million a year coaching the Rams. He has Matt Stafford in his prime. Like he's 36. He doesn't have kids yet. Hell, he's not even getting married to the summer. Like now is the time to pounce these next three or four years. Make your $20 million dollars coaching for the Rams.

try to win another chip, become an absolute legend. Television, Amazon, Fox, ESP, none of these teams, places are going anywhere. You are only going to get more valuable the more games you win. And your team is loaded,

your owner is willing to pay any amount of money to win. Right decision. Stay in coaching. Like, you might burn out because when you get up at 4 a.m. and you work till, you know, 9, 10 o'clock at night,

it's hard. but John Gruden ended up on television because he was fired. Not because he left Tambay Buccaneers to go to ESPN. He got run out of town. Sean McVeigh, not only not run out of town, if Sean McVeigh was available tomorrow, do you know how many teams would fire their coach to hire Sean McVeigh? Like, Sean, it's as good as it gets right now.

And he knows that. Now, it's when you work as hard as he does and he's already made as much money as he has and he got to be a head coach so early. I get, you know, thinking like, how can, I understand him not going to the combine this week. I'm going to spend time around my wife. I want to spend some time around my new coaches.

You know, we just finished playing a couple weeks ago. You don't need to go to the combine. You don't even have any picks. As Les Sneat says, F them picks. LeBron James loves it. It's like, hey, LeBron, your team sucks. Maybe you should use some of those picks. but you know John Lynch same thing

turned down Amazon you know why John Lynch has worked in TV like Sean McVey already rich now John was rich before Sean McVeigh was rich but you become a legend in football unless you're John Madden you don't become a legend on TV you become a legend by winning a Super Bowl like Sean McVay did you become a legend like John Lynch if Trey Lance is sweet

and you win a Super Bowl with Kyle Shanahan and Trey Lance that you can always go back to TV. And I think these guys, John knows it because he would have to go back. Sean, or I mean, he's already been there. The right people talk to Sean, and he made the right decision. Tough it out a couple more years with Matt Stafford, three or four years, try to just accumulate wins, give yourself a chance to win championships.

Because that's where you're at right now. You're in a window with a franchise willing to do everything. The other story is Kirk Herb Street. They're Amazon sniffing around. he has been on game day and done college football now since I was in high school. I'm 37 and bald now. Here's what I would say to Herbie.

You have done some of the sweetest college football games. You've done the Rose Bowl. You've done national championships. You've done game days. You have done everything humanly possible to do in college sports. This is kind of a retirement gig. If they'd give you five years or six years, $100 million.

Do you know how much easier the NFL is than college? Now, obviously, if you did Amazon Thursday night game, it's not the greatest games. But in college, even if you're doing Penn State,

Michigan, you don't know every player in that roster. You have to do a lot of work preparing for that game. In the NFL, there's only 53 guys on a team. In college, there's 120. The turnover in the NFL,

for the most part, the star players and star players. You're going to know the quarterbacks. You're going to know who the coaches are. You're going to have a baseline of information. Now you could argue Herbie just doing college football so long has some, but still, the NFL is easier. You don't ever have to get up on Saturday morning, do game day again. Let's face it. Lee Corso, God love him, is hanging on by a thread right now. And clearly that means a lot to Herbie. Herbie loves that guy. But maybe it's time like to just go

your separate ways. If they're offering you a ton of money, my recommendation would be, I would do that. I would do the NFL. You've done everything possible in the college level, and you've done it at a really high level. I was thinking about this weekend, the ESPN's been very, very lucky in college sports. Jay Billis has been calling basketball games with Dickie V, those two guys' analysts for a long period of time,

and they're both really, really good. Obviously, Dickie V's battling cancer right now. But I was watching Jay Billis. He called the KU Baylor game. He was awesome. Herbstree has been their main guy now for two decades. Bill has nowhere to go. But if I'm Herb Street, my recommendation would be to leave.

And I love college football. The Browns clearly got some weird things going on. They're meeting with Jarvis Landry, the general manager. He had some cryptic tweets. Like, you know, they ask him to take a pay cut. I don't know. It feels like it's about to get weird. They're tight end, David and Joku.

They're going to offer him like $10 million a year. He's a really, really talented guy. It's not a headline. Of course, Baker Mayfield's a head. a schedule on his rehab. The Hall of Fame game, Jags Raiders. That seems a little weird,

but I guess Tony Bisselli's going in. It's Cliff Branch. Who's going in for the Raiders? But that's, yeah, Hall of Fame game, Jags Raiders. Don't really have a take there. Five international games. We got three London games.

Aaron Rogers on the Packers, it feels like the Packers are the best team to ever go to London. That's a big deal. sending the Packers to London if Aaron Rogers Devante on the team? Because they'd be, you know, clearly be one of the best teams in the league. Usually they send the Jets, the Jags, the Dolphins,

just really, really shitty teams, football team. But five international games. Cardinals going to Mexico, who one of the guys, Matt Mayoko, who covers the Niners says, expect that to be a Niner game. So Cardinals, Niners, Mexico, count me in. Remember a couple years ago when Monday Night Football

was supposed to go to Mexico City? And the field was terrible. So they moved to the Coliseum. and then they had that epic game. OT rules, all indications are that the OT rules are going to be changed. I've said over and over, I don't care. I was cool with the original OT rules, sudden death. I've been cool with the adapted OT rules that a field goal doesn't win it,

that a touchdown does. If you want to give both teams a try, I'm cool with that too. It's just not something that I'm very passionate about. I'm just being honest. I truly do not care. If they change it again, I'm all for it. I'm into whatever they're into. Because so far it hasn't bothered me.

Now, you know, I haven't seen a team that I root for lose poorly, badly that way. I haven't been on the wrong side of a gambling bet. So, yeah, I mean, maybe I would think differently if I had. I understand Bill's fans being pissed off. I understand fans of a team that have been on the wrong side being angry. It's understandable. I just don't fall into that category.

But it clearly is changing. Florio wrote that Stephen Ross wanted Sean Payton and Tom Brady to be his coach quarterback in 2022. It's like, yo, Steven, I want to marry a supermodel. Like, we all can dream. What is this guy, someone needs to tell Stephen Ross, like, this guy's living in La La Land.

Change course and all in on the Super Bowl window. Well, we talked about on my other podcast today. Trey Lance would be the number one pick in this draft. I had an executive on another team tell me that unequivocally. He's like, bro, he went third.

in a way better draft. He's a super high character, physically gifted, high ceiling guy. I mean, Malik Willis, who is not even close to as good as Trey Lance,

is going to go in the first round, probably. Trey Lance would be the number one overall pick in this draft. 49ers are drafting 29th. I keep Trey Lance. I trade Jimmy Garapolo,

and I just, I coach him up. Kyle Shanahan, just coach his ass up. Make a minute. a sweet player. You know, I think that is the goal here.

Here's the other thing. Part of what is sweet about having a young quarterback is they're cheap. They're cheap. So you get rid of Jimmy Garoppel. It's $27 million you get to go mess with. And Trey only costs you six or seven. TV show recommendations.

Reacher. I watched it and really love. City on a hill. Love that show. Ozarks watched sweet. Peaky blinders, watch, sweet. Isn't the new peeky blinders supposed to come out this summer? Taboo, FSX, FX, Hulu.

Tom Hardy, explores the darker side of London in the late 1800s. It's a lot of recommendations. I think I tried to watch Taboo one time, and Tom Hardy, you know, sometimes like mumbles or whatever. I wasn't really feeling it.

A lot of people like Jack Reacher. I'll be honest, and I like, you know, I'm an Arnold Schwarzenegger Stallone. That's what I grew up on. I like Bruce Willis, diehards. I like that shit. I thought Jack Reacher was terrible.

I thought it was really cheesy. One take I have on Amazon Prime's content for having the second richest man in the world, I feel most of their content's like second rate. Like you watch the content on Hulu or Netflix, they're good stuff. It's like high end. Jack Reacher feels like something I could shoot.

Maybe I'm a hater, I don't know. Kanye Westdoc on Netflix. Kanye Westdoc, sweet. Lovelist in the pod and all the insight on everything. I'm from the Pacific Northwest and a huge Seahawks fan. I'm under the impression

that the Seahawks have hit their ceiling with Russell, and it would be best to move on. They have won three playoff games in the past six seasons. Kind of a crazy stat. Now, you guys have been to the playoffs a lot, though. Russell has been a big part of that.

I know we have been spoiled for the past eight years, but I think it's time to move on, thoughts. here's my problem. If you're John Snyder, how do you trade Russell Wilson? Because if you trade Russell Wilson to the Eagles for Jalen Hertz, three ones, ones, and a two,

you still are just not as good. And I've been saying for a while, everyone thinks the Seahawks suck. They went three and three in the best division of football. They swept the 49ers, swept them. One game, they kicked their ass. Actually, they kind of honestly outplayed them in both. Sweep the 49ers.

They beat the 49ers. the living piss out of the Cardinals Week 18. Russell missed a bunch of games with the injured finger. If you tell me Russell's healthy, I think Seattle will go 10 and 7 next year. I'd rather go 10 and 7 with Russell Wilson than 7 and 10 with all these young draft picks

and Jalen Hertz. Tell you that much. So I would not trade him. Unless he tells me he will not play for me ever again, I'd keep the guy. Big fan of the pod. If you're looking for a show to watch, you should really consider Drive to Survive. seen it. I should throw a question in the mailbag while I'm at it. Being a

Dolphins fan, I seem to have questions all the time. My question, how long of a leash would you give two of this season? With a new coach who is offensively minded, a rather well-balanced draft class to hopefully round out the roster and the dominant AFC at what point do you pull the plug? He's getting this entire season. If I mic me, Daniel, I build my offense, which is the Shanahan thing around him and my players and I see what he's got. But I 100% try to see what Tua has. That's what I do. I want to see the good, bad, and the ugly. Because you have to pick up his fifth year option after this season. If he's bad, you're not picking it up, Daniel Jones style. If he shows promise and you win 10 games, maybe you pick it up and you got a

quarterback for the next couple years. But 100% this season, No chance pulling the plug. I think worst case scenario, too, against the next two years. Best case scenario, he gets a second contract. Which, you know, who knows?

They got a new coach. Found you a few months ago. Love the content. Now that coaches have been hired, who do you think progresses the most next season between Lawrence, Wilson, Lance, Fields,

and Mac? By the way, I heard you were looking for shows. Strongly recommend Ozark. of Ozark. Great show. Great show. The chick in that is an inventing Anna, also a really good show. I would say Trevor Lawrence should make

a dramatic step with Doug Peterson. NFL quarterback, offensive coordinator, the offensive coordinator on a team that outdued Belichick, coach Carson Wentz, and Nick Foles made them both look good. I would say that Trevor Lawrence, who is the most talented of the bunch, should look dramatically better. better. Fields, no clue.

Zach Wilson, I don't really like Zach Wilson. Mack Jones, he might be as good as we're going to see. Trey Lance, like he hasn't really, unlike those guys, he hasn't played. He started two games. So I would say Trevor Lawrence from all the games we saw last year should take the biggest step. Now, Trey Lance did play two games. Major project. He should be way better in year two, but he hasn't started back-to-back games.

So I wouldn't put him in the category. the other four guys. I guess Zach Wilson Fields missed games some games with injuries too, but they started the majority of the season. Lawrence and Mack played every game. I think Mack like, and listen, you're a playoff team if you're New England.

Nothing wrong with that. But that's, what Mac is, is what Mac is. Don't expect Mac to, you know, turn into some ass kicking Josh Allen meets Patrick Mahomes. That ain't happening. To me, best case scenario is like a better cousin's,

which he's, you know, already kind of plays like that. I expect Trevor Lawrence too big time of a prospect, too talented of a player to not seriously be like, look like a good NFL player. Not a pro ball or anything, but just look good. Now, they have to improve the offensive line. I expect them to buy offensive linemen, expect them to draft offensive linemen. They need offensive skill guys around them. But I would expect with Doug and Trevor Lawrence to be much, much better.
