This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms.
So I'm Leanne.
Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Absolutely.
A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger hips.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drinks.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Oh, they had a bogo.
Well, then you got them.
Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was funny.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Marquis' keep coming to him.
He's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Your husband is not who you think he is. Your body is not what you thought it was. Your identity
is formed by a secret history. I'm Danny Shapiro. And these are just a few of the stunning
stories I'll be exploring on the 14th season of Family Secrets. He kind of shoved me out of the way and said,
move. And he went out the front door and he jumped in a car and drove off. And that was the last time I saw him.
Listen to season 14 of Family Secrets on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The volume.
What is going on, everybody?
How are we doing?
Lamar Jackson just got yanked out of the game, so I said that is my cue.
Let's go record before a little prime rib Christmas dinner.
Hopefully everyone had a great Christmas morning, day, afternoon, wherever and whenever you held your festivities.
hopefully it was fun.
We will dive into some football.
The Ravens dominate.
Looks like Lamar has a decent chance to win his third MVP.
The Chiefs crews destroy the Steelers.
And clinch home field and the number one seed.
It's got to go back through Kansas City like typically it does.
And Mahomes looks fantastic.
Kelsey looks good.
Chiefs, man.
Of course, they're peeking at the right time.
And they didn't even have Chris Jones.
We got to talk about the two teams that lost, the Steelers and the Texans leaking serious oil.
I don't know who looks worse right now.
Probably say Houston, but they both look pretty terrible, right?
I mean, two teams hosting short week, the middle of December and end December, really,
and get absolutely destroyed.
As of right now, the Texas have two points and the Steelers at 10.
Maybe the Texans will score some garbage touchdown, but pretty awful.
I mean, these are two playoff teams.
These are two teams that are going to be playing, you know, the wild card weekend.
And then we'll dive into some other stuff.
I didn't do a podcast after the Packer game.
Sometimes you've got to have a little family time.
We were traveling, bags got lost, pain in the ass.
So I didn't even have a chance to dial in on that game.
But I do want to dive into something on the Packers just in general.
Obviously, I mean, the Saints are a joke.
But kind of, I was going for a walk and I thought about something the other day when it comes to the Packers.
Pete Carroll interested in the Bears job, of course.
You know, a 73-year-old who won a Super Bowl, won a championship in college,
super rich, but super bored.
I mean, it's like Pete.
You don't, you just want to do TV and just write off into the sunset.
But no, these guys are addicted to coaching.
And we'll talk a little Christmas because I noticed something today.
But before we dive into football, you know, I got to tell you about my friends,
my partners, the official ticketing app of this podcast.
Here's what you do.
Go to game time.
And they're the best ticketing.
app I've ever used by far. If you want to get a pair of tickets to a game, a playoff game,
any college game, any concert, you want to go to a concert, see some live music. I got you
covered. Take the guest work out of buying tickets with game time. Download on the game time app,
create an account and use the code, John for $20 off your first purchase terms to play again.
Create an account and redeem the code. J-O-H-N for $20 off. Download the game time app today. Last
minute tickets, lowest prices guaranteed. Where or where do we want to start?
Obviously, the cream is really rising in the AFC.
And we saw that today.
And we saw it because of Netflix.
Let's just start there.
Because I got on the internet and I saw so many people complaining.
Like the league forcing these games.
This is awful.
It's like, guys, this was, there are so many different angles here.
The league wants Netflix involved.
So they threw them a bone, which they had to pay for.
They let them wet their beak for $150 million.
two games that are going to do enormous numbers.
The amount of people that watch football today is going to be, honestly,
my guess would be much higher than normal.
You know why?
Because when you watch Netflix, and listen, I guess most of us no longer,
I can't say most of us,
but a large percentage of people and it grows by the day are ditching traditional
cable and going to some sort of streaming platform.
So changing channels is now a little different.
I don't really even have a remote at my house.
It's all digital on my phone.
But when you go to Netflix,
and if you were watching,
like the last game we just watched,
the Ravens against the Texans,
which you could have called the game at halftime
to make sure no one got injured
and just let everyone go enjoy Christmas
with their families
and just let them have the rest of the day healthy.
But obviously you got to finish out the game.
You're stuck on Netflix.
This is not, even on YouTube TV,
I can go back, I can see what else is on.
Obviously, any cable provider,
it's very easy to channel surf.
So, like, a big point of this conversation started with
the NFL wanted to steal Christmas from the NBA several years ago.
Obviously, they didn't have to steal anything.
If they put a game, they will dominate the day.
So to me, this is less about a competition of, like,
if an NFL game's on, more people are going to watch that than any other game.
No matter how bad the score is.
And today, I mean, Patrick Mahj,
is the biggest star in the league and Lamar is arguably their best player and one of the biggest
stars in the league. So if you throw them on television, even if they're beating the shit out of an
opponent and the Steelers obviously have a huge fan base, a ton of people are going to watch.
But once you go to Netflix, which I thought it was pretty normal. Like you just turned it on
it looked like a normal broadcast. You're kind of stuck there. Like you don't really, you can go
to another show on Netflix. You have to exit and go all the way out back to the main app page.
It's kind of a pain in the ass. So you can't really jump back and forward.
you know, if you wanted to watch, I don't know why it would. I mean, I haven't watched one dribble
as of recording this and it's, you know, 5 o'clock in the afternoon. But if you wanted to watch,
it's not very advantageous to just click some buttons. It's a pain in the ass. So I would imagine
most sports fans inclined to go football kind of are stuck. And it just stays on in the background.
And I know it was like that this morning when we were opening president's footballers on the
background. It was on in the background when we were just like eating kind of a late breakfast. It'll be
on. I guess it'll be over by the time we ate dinner. But if there was another game on at dinner,
that Netflix would be on with the football game. And it's too big of a pain to like, oh,
check the other score, check something else. You're just kind of stuck on that. So I think this Netflix
thing, not only is it not going away, they're going to be a major partner come this next iteration
of the television deal. And my guess is either they have the morning package, which is the
international package, which Goodell already said that they're going to sell.
And like, there was a reason that they gave him Patrick Mahomes, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Lamar Jackson.
And what they thought was going to be one of the better young players in the league, C.J. Stroud,
which is not playing itself out like that.
But they wanted to let them wet their beak.
They paid a premium.
And Netflix did a good job.
It was crisp.
It looked good.
Obviously, it sounded completely normal because they had NFL broadcasters, you know,
Greg Olson calling the games, the Eagle family.
JJ Watt, you know, in the morning.
It was just an easy watch.
It's going to work.
And it's going to crush because in Amazon Prime is the same way.
Like when you have now, if you, you know, situation like me, sometimes like if I'm watching the Thursday night game in my office, I got multiple TV.
So if I want to watch something else, I can throw the other game on there.
But if I'm out in the living room and the game's on, like she can't, hey, can you check this out, you know, at halftime?
Like, you just stay on the game.
That's kind of how the app works.
And it was very evident today.
So at the end of the Ravens game,
even when I went back out,
I came in here.
I went back out.
My mom was just at the,
you know,
sitting in the living room and the game was just still on.
It's just,
it's so it's going to be advantage Netflix.
And the NFL on that,
you're kind of just stuck with it regardless of the score.
Now, speaking of the scores,
the Ravens and Chiefs put their foot on two teams that are not,
playing well and beat the living shit out of them.
And let's start with the Ravens because he is gaining a lot of steam and momentum.
Listen, he didn't have relative to his other, if he wins the MVP this season.
Last year's MVP is not nearly as good as the first one and doesn't hold a candle to this one.
That team, obviously he was a really good player last year, but the defining characteristic of the
2003 Ravens was like a historic dominant defense.
and their defensive coordinator that became a head coach.
And Lamar was solid for them.
But relative to this year, he's on a different planet.
Now, if you are going to win another MVP,
and today he had an MVP-type performance,
he looks, I mean, there's no way around it,
incredible on a weekly basis.
It would be his third MVP.
And if he were to pull that off,
and obviously when you play in these primetime games,
he did last week, he did again,
you're just going to gain momentum over Josh Allen,
who's playing the Patriots last week,
the Jets this week, and then the Patriots again.
And while I do think a lot of people will be paying attention to Jets bills,
you know, it's just it's the Jets, Aaron Rogers,
and obviously the Bills or they win one of these last two games,
they're going to get the number two seed.
And he's just kind of trying to throw up numbers for the MVP.
It's not quite the same as playing in the primetime games,
especially a situation like Christmas.
It's just like you're just playing by yourself or like these guys did last Saturday.
but I'll give you a couple names guys with two MVPs.
Joe Montana and Patrick Mahomes.
Obviously Patrick's career's not done and listen,
if they add some more offensive weaponry
and hit on a couple offensive linemen,
it would not shock anybody if he wins another MVP in his career, right?
We saw Brady, we saw Rogers, guys late in their career win MVP's.
And as you saw Patrick Mahomes today,
he's still got a lot of MVP ability in there.
But those guys, Montana's career has been over for a long, you know, 30 plus years, has two
MVPs.
When you go into the stratosphere of three, like Peyton Manning has the record with five,
Rogers has four, and then a lot of guys have three.
Tom Brady, Brett Farve, Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas.
I never saw Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas play.
but I would say they would be on like the Mount Rushmore of Ruthian figures before people
like me were born.
When you talked about football and the history of football, Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown are people
that come up a lot.
So when you're putting their category with Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time,
a guy with six Super Bowls, and Brett Farve, a guy that won a Super Bowl, went to another one,
and obviously Rogers and Manning have both won Super Bowls.
Like, I think it would put extra pressure on Lamar Jackson.
Because once you start getting three, four MVPs, it's like, well, you need to win championships.
Like, they kind of go hand in hand.
It's one thing to win an MVP and never win a championship.
Happens.
And it's going to happen more.
It's the NFL, it's pro sports, it's hard.
Just because you win an MVP, Aaron,
judge might win three MVPs, might never win a world series. Not that crazy, right? But like, if he
wants to be considered all time great, like eventually you got to win one. And, you know, baseball is obviously
different in football. It's like an individual team sport. But in football, like, Lamar does control a lot of
his own destiny. And if he plays like he plays in some of these games, it will be very hard to beat the
Ravens. But like, you start getting compared to Brett Farv and Tom Brady. And listen, like today,
It doesn't even feel like he's 30% through his career.
Maybe he's 30, 35%.
He passed Michael Vick and Cam Newton on all-time rushing yards.
He's the all-time quarterback rushing yards leader in the history of the league.
I mean, what's that number going to end at?
Because he still has, I would say, minimum five.
You know, if he doesn't get a major injury,
it feels like for the near future, he's going to be flying around.
I mean, he is going to rush for so many.
He's going to shatter a record that maybe no one sniffs for a long, long time.
But the Ravens are essentially going to have to do what the 20203 chiefs did if he just wants to make it to the Super Bowl, let alone win it.
Whoever they play in the first round, they're going to be the three seat.
Because we got the Texans at the four.
The bills are going to be the two and obviously the chiefs are the one.
So they're going to be a heavy favorite in the wild card round.
they're going to play the Broncos, the Chargers, the Steelers, one of those three teams,
and they will be favored, my guess is by a touchdown plus, depending on which one of those
matchups.
And I would be stunned if they lose to any of those teams.
Then in the second round, they're going to have to go to Buffalo, which we saw Baltimore
beat Buffalo earlier this season, outplayed them.
Obviously, the game really unraveled when Buffalo tried that trick play and the fumble,
it was a disaster.
but going to Buffalo's a different animal,
and that would be an incredible win for Lamar.
Then he's going to have to go to Kansas City.
So think of what the Chiefs did last year.
They were big favorites against the Dolphins,
at home, won, easily, punked them,
then went to Buffalo, hard-fought game,
very impressive as an underdog,
and then obviously went to Baltimore and won.
And Lamar and John Harbaugh
would basically just have to do the reverse of that.
And if they were able to pull it off, it would be like whoever takes down Kansas City, whether it's Josh or whether it's Lamar, it's going to be an incredible accomplishment.
And, you know, I think the Ravens, if they played the bills 10 times, I would probably take the Ravens six, especially now as their defense has looked a lot better recently.
And to me, the quarterbacks are basically coin flip.
Now, Lamar, the difference with Josh, and we talk about this a lot, is Josh has done it in the playoffs.
Like, he's played really well.
He hasn't won the games.
He's played well then.
But his defense has let him down.
Like Lamar's defense has played well in the playoffs and he has not.
So you win another MVP, which obviously we wouldn't know till, do we find out before the Super Bowl?
I know they announced on the Super Bowl.
I'm not, I forget if it gets leaked.
But his numbers are eye-popping.
and the Ravens, it's been an impressive year
because they had some weird moments early.
I mean, they start 0 and 2.
They lose that Raider game,
which is probably one of the weirder results of the season.
But today, to go on the road,
I get Houston's and shambles,
but to beat the living piss out of them like they did,
that was impressive.
And same thing with Kansas City.
And I think the scary thing about Kansas City is like,
I think we got our swagger back.
You ever seen that meme?
You ever seen that kid in high school?
YouTube it.
where he backs up, that's what the Chiefs feel like these last couple days.
It's like they look like a completely different team.
That team that was barely beating the Raiders, that team that was barely beaten the Panthers,
these last two weeks, it's like, this is the Chief's team that won the Super Bowl.
Like this is the Patrick Mahomes that I remember taking down Josh Allen,
taken down Lamar Jackson, taking down Kyle Shanahan in the 49ers.
This is that guy.
This is the Travis Kelsey that we saw in the playoffs.
It's like, has he just really been saving himself up?
this entire time.
And Xavier Worthy, like,
it's going to work.
The scary thing for the league is
Xavier Worthy and Patrick Mahomes
are going to be so much better
next year and the following year,
but they're figuring it out right now.
And if you can get those two guys
to go with Hopkins and Pacheco
and a quarterback who, like,
let's face it, throughout the year,
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson
have played in a different,
just much better than Patrick Mahomes.
Now, Patrick Mahomes has made big plays
when he's had to. He's played winning football.
But those guys have played better.
That's not like a controversial take.
But these last couple weeks, specifically today, in Pittsburgh,
like, that's the MVP Patrick Mahomes.
That's the three-time Super Bowl champ, Patrick Mahomes.
That's the guy that I'd probably bet on to win another Super Bowl.
Oh yeah, and he also has the best coach who dressed up as Santa and looked just like him.
And they brought out an elf who I guess, as a buddy of mine on the Chiefs, text me,
because I posted the video of the elf, which is just,
Just an incredible video.
Like there's never been a better time if you're a Chiefs fan.
If you're my age, 40, if you're 50, if you're 60 of your Chiefs fans, you can't even,
there's no way for you to properly enjoy this enough.
But if your enjoyment is a 10 out of 10, like you're almost underselling your,
it should be like a 100 out of a 10.
This is as good as life gets in football.
This is like the equivalent of the Alabama dynasty, but in the NFL.
honestly it feels even a little more dominant than the Patriots.
But I mean, and if you were to go three straight,
obviously it's never been done in NFL history would be something that I don't think ever would happen again.
But yeah, man, we know how good your defense is.
Your best defensive player didn't even play today.
Now you have the rest of this week off.
You get all of next week off and you get the bye week off.
Good luck.
I mean, good luck.
And here's the other thing.
they only have to play Josh or Lamar.
Last year they had to go through them both.
That's not going to happen this year.
They're going to play, let's just guess, the Chargers in the second round, the Broncos,
you know, one of those random teams, while the Bills and the Ravens play each other.
So they're only going to have to play one of them and they get them at home.
Think about how much more difficult their road was last year than it's going to be this year.
They didn't get a buy.
They had to beat Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson on the road.
And obviously, an excellent 49er team.
We'll see who ends up coming out from the NFC.
But I think when you just look ahead,
I think it's fair to say that it's just a much easier track.
So the Chiefs, man, it's just, it's pretty crazy what we're witnessing.
It's the Jordan Bulls.
It's like I'm not a racing guy, but like Lewis Hamilton, right?
or, I don't know, Tiger Woods in his prime.
It's like, it never crossed your mind.
Like, honestly, like, five minutes into the game,
you're like, Chiefs are going to win.
Like, you just say that immediately.
It felt like that when Kevin Durant came to the Warriors,
if you ever watch them play, like, yeah, they're going to win.
Never matter what the score was, like, they're just going to win.
There's just no, they're going to win.
And that's what it feels like right now with the Chiefs.
And honestly, when you go, who's going to win the Super Bowl?
How could you say any other name?
For a long time, I thought, you know,
this is going to be the year that they just get knocked out.
Their offense is just not good enough.
This is going to be the year.
Then they lose some defensive guys.
It's like losing the second round,
losing in the conference championship game.
And this is five or six weeks ago when it felt like
they were going to end up losing some more regular season games.
And the dust settles and they went 15 and one.
And now they'll rest everyone next week.
Denver is going to get,
the Cincinnati game is way less important now for them
because they basically got a shoe and win.
He's going to start a bunch of backups in Carson Went.
So if Denver throws a kitchen sink at them at home, they're going to win.
Big game for Carson Wentz to kind of put out some tape there, but it's crazy how this has played out.
It is insane.
And we tried, and listen, I was probably guilty of this a little bit.
You nitpick them.
You're like, God, it doesn't quite look as good.
God, they're barely beating this team.
God, how'd they pull it off?
Then you get the bugger eaters online.
It's like, oh, it's just the refs.
It's just the referees.
Like, no, this isn't 2002 in the NBA with David Stern, where the referees were literally,
on the take.
It's just like, yeah, the referees
make some bad calls.
I saw today a stat.
You know, the chiefs have been called
for more holding
or they're tied for the most
offensive holding calls in the NFL.
You would think it's the complete opposite.
And obviously their offensive line
has been atrocious.
So it's like last year was like,
oh, last year was a team to get them.
It was a year to get them.
And then this year, it's like,
well, they don't have an offensive line.
This year's the year to get them.
It's like, no, actually it's just
their year again.
It's here again.
And one thing we've learned,
I've definitely learned in my life,
sports are their biggest
when you have a dynasty.
Parity sounds cool.
Parody is like what all these big Js talk about online.
Parody is something that like in theory sounds good.
It's like a great academic exercise.
Looks great on a whiteboard.
Not great for the consumer.
Because it's pretty clear the consumer
is way more dialed in
when there's something
historic going on. When I was a kid in the 90s, Michael Jordan. NBA's never been bigger,
not even close. For about a 10-year run, golf, a guy named Tiger Woods, for the last 20 years
in the NFL when it expanded to unforeseen heights, Tom Brady and the Patriots,
with Peyton Manning kind of chasing him for a large portion of that. That's what we want.
And I remember Coward used to talk about this a lot. Like everyone loves Cinderella's
till you throw two of the four final four Cinderella's in there.
It's like, this sucks.
I'm a big fan of Boise State and what they represent.
But, like, college football is better off if Penn State beats them.
And it's Penn State Notre Dame or Penn State, Georgia,
than if it's Boise in one of those two teams.
It just is.
So I think that the chiefs have just turned into the Big Bad Wolf.
Everyone knows them.
Obviously, they got some, like, culture crossovers now with Kelsey Date,
Taylor with just Mahomes, just pure fame.
You know, Andy, now if you're a football sport nerd, kind of chasing, like, I mean,
this dude's coming for the Bill Walsh's, the Lombardis, the Belichicks.
Like, that's kind of the category he's swimming in now.
And it just shows you, man.
I mean, I worked for the Eagles when he was fired.
And if you would have told Eagles fans the moment he was fired that he's going to get a job
here in like a week.
And in about a decade, it will.
It'll be pretty universal that the only guy with a straight face you could say is better,
and that argument is getting slimmer and slimmer, is Bill Belichick.
That's what you will say in a decade.
And that's what everyone's saying now, because he's clearly the best NFL coach.
I mean, he just, I mean, he just beat the shit out of Mike Tomlin.
Absolutely clown him.

What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And...
Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of...
the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers
was...
This is how you guys remember
it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast
where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down
on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas,
and offered it up
as a potential title
for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that,
guys.

from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What's up, fam, it's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows, without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in
the lineup, he has to really guard guys like
Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us
everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some
playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing. That man,
hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers
why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that,
Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering
the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store.
I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the
history is you're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit season two goes deep
on both of those things, the fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign
to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than
our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit. How do you represent that? They are just fueling
a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the IHeart

Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly, he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree.
At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No.
I didn't want to manifest that.
I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever
because everything that had existed prior in my reality
is now untrue.

So let's dive into Pittsburgh.
I didn't buy into them at all
and I looked pretty foolish
for most of the year,
but it was hard to diminish
what they were doing
because their defense was excellent
and Russell added a passing game
that they just haven't had in a long time
and they could throw the lollipop
pass down the field.
And they had a pretty effective run game.
but when you have a great defense and your offense is just solid,
you're going to be a really good team.
And I don't know what's happened in the last 11 days.
Obviously, they've had injuries,
but their secondary is atrocious now.
They can't cover anybody.
And when you can't cover anybody,
even if you have a really good defensive line,
it doesn't matter.
Because when you play elite quarterbacks,
they're going to beat you.
If you have an elite defensive line
and your secondary is just solid,
you can get after people.
But they're secondary right now,
is a joke.
And let's face the Russell Wilson experiment.
You can't just throw the lollipop pass over and over and over.
And that has kind of gone away.
And here's the other thing that happened.
He started turning the ball over.
What happened Saturday?
Two turnovers.
Right?
He had the fumble and he had the bad pick at the end that was pick six.
What happened today?
Early on in the game, driving.
Red zone interception.
I mean, those are three devastating turnovers.
That's something we'd be making fun of like James Winston for.
Well, part of getting Russell Wilson, he's resurrecting his career, 100 million.
It's like, yeah, the more and more he plays, you know, he's scrambling,
like, yeah, kind of okay.
Kind of been what he's been the last couple years.
Your offense just doesn't feel that dynamic with the guy playing quarterback.
If he's not hitting bombs down the sideline,
which is not really a sustainable way to play offense.
And they scored 10 points at home.
and I get it as a short week
same for the Kansas City Chiefs
should be such a massive advantage
short week
but you're watching the offense
just looks like shit
and the defense
they can't cover anybody
and I watched some of
Mike Tomlin's press conference
when I was waiting for the Ravens game
and you know
he can give
incredible ability to play on words
and just use his words
to be like God this guy's just
a fucking
this guy's like Picasso
with a vocabulary
and just
it's like well
if I was a Steeler fan
it's like well I'm kind of tired of
you know the definition of insanity
doing the same thing's over we got to change like yeah
it's just this team looks like crap
and you know what this team is it's a one and done team
this team is exactly what you've been
for the last six seven years the same thing
well they had another winning record great
what does that mean so they won 10 games
and they're going to get to the playoffs
and they're going to lose
and then we're going to have to have quarterback like you're going to give
Russell Wilson $100 million.
Because I saw that out there.
Like, give him the Baker Mayfield contract.
Baker Mayfield is a dramatically better quarterback.
The Pittsburgh Steelers would drive Russell Wilson to Tampa Bay to trade him for
Baker Mayfield.
He's in a different tier.
He is a much better player.
So it's like, no, I'm not giving him that contract.
The quarterback contracts, like, I'm sorry.
It's like, well, what are you going to do?
I don't know, but this is not going to be good enough.
So I'm not just hitching my wagon to this.
this to like have the same result over and over. Isn't that what Tomlin just said?
We got to look at some changes because what we've been doing, we can't keep doing the same thing
and expect a different result.
It's like I look at the Steelers.
Obviously they have, you know, a defined characteristic.
They're great at drafting defensive alignment and developing a defensive culture.
Obviously, Mink has been good.
But they lost some guys and they just don't look nearly the same.
And these two games represented the big dogs.
Right, the elites.
Super Bowl contenders against,
pretenders is even the wrong thing to say.
Just very average teams.
Obviously, the Texans benefited a lot this year
from playing in an awful division.
And the Steelers benefited.
They controlled this, but they got off to an incredible start.
And now both of them, like you ever had one of those old cars,
sometimes a newer car too,
just park and you just move it
and you're like, there's oil everywhere.
it definitely used to happen with older cars a lot more.
That's these two teams.
Like, if they're a boat, like, it is in the process of sinking right now.
And there's no, like, what are the Steelers supposed to do?
I don't see what their options are.
I mean, honestly, I mean, I don't see what's going to change.
They play the Bengals as upcoming, you know, they get a longer buy, right?
The mini buy because they played on Wednesday, but they're not beating the Bengals.
like I don't see that happening
and I don't even think they'll play Houston the first round
I think they lose next week
and they're the six seed and they're playing the Ravens
then they get their ass kicked
and then I think we start asking the questions again
like it just feels like we're just kind of running a mud
Tomlin's good
other teams would the bears would sell their left nut
to have Mike Tomlin as their coach
but it's like nothing's going to change here
the same thing's about to happen
So I think it's, I mean, the Steelers just have a problem where it's just same thing over and over.
Saw this last year, saw the previous year, just different quarterback.
The Texans have a bigger picture problem.
Like, why is the quarterback look way different?
Like, I get why the Steelers have issue.
They haven't been able to find a quarterback.
They thought they had one of Russell Wilson, like, yes.
It plugged the leak for a minute, but eventually that adhesive broke.
And you get the leaks coming out somewhere else.
Well, the text is like, this is rookie the year last year.
This guy was part of the reason they put him in this rotation
to be there with Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes
and the Pittsburgh Steelers
because people thought this guy was an ascending star.
And now you're watching him,
and I've kind of defended him.
It's like, listen, offensive line is bad.
And it is.
And he's running around a lot.
I think it's a combination of things.
He's not playing that well.
I think you lose your confidence when you get hit a lot.
The offensive line, the players kind of stink right now,
the guards and centers.
Like they're just, they're getting, or the center and guards.
They look terrible.
And every other play, it looks like he's running for his life.
And Slowick, you know, part of being a good offensive coordinator is having like a feel,
having like an innate feel.
And you can tell guys that are just good play callers.
Obviously, you make bad play calls.
But like over the course of a season, you're like, this guy's just really good at it.
It comes natural to them, right?
It's like any industry in life.
Some people just have a natural feel for stuff, right?
Obviously, a great comedian has to work on his craft,
but certain guys are just funnier than others.
And you're watching Sloak, you're like,
I know I've seen some broadcasts where clearly,
you know, whether it's whoever's calling the game,
is either buddies with them, who likes them, and they defend them,
and I get it.
It can be a tough position once you start knowing guys and you like them.
Seems like a good guy.
I've never heard a negative thing said about him.
But usually when an offense sputters like this,
someone like Casario ain't getting fired C.J. Stroud ain't getting fired.
Nico Collins ain't getting fired. So D'Amico ain't getting fired. You just have to wonder like things could get really weird this offseason.
And you know, D'Amico's a young coach. I would imagine he wants to stay loyal to the guy, but usually someone pays when there are this high of expectations.
That's the thing with Pittsburgh. Like, you're not going to fire Arthur Smith. Right? I saw someone tweeted out like they
had Brian Flores in the building.
And they kept Austin,
the defensive coordinator, and let Flores
go to Minnesota.
Right? And that was, you know, I was like, well,
would they still want Flores?
You know, Houston, I don't know,
man, I don't quite have an answer.
Now, the Tank Dell thing,
I loved Baltimore today.
Loved Baltimore today.
Because of what happened
last week, like, that's hard to overcome.
And clearly they did not overcome it,
not even close.
And now they look like a team.
team that's just in complete shambles.
So, congrats to the Chiefs,
congrats to the Ravens,
and really looking forward to the playoffs.
I mean, we're kind of pivoting toward that.
Playoffs, Black Monday,
who's going to get hired,
and draft order talk.
I mean, that's kind of where we're at.
And for the most part,
we got a pretty good idea.
Like, I think the AFC is pretty set.
You have the Chiefs one,
you get the bills to,
You got the Ravens 3.
You got the Texans 4.
I think the Chargers are going to be 5.
I think the Steelers are going to be 6.
And I think the Broncos will be 7.
So you got Broncos playing the Bills.
You got the Steelers playing the Ravens.
And you got the Texans playing the Chargers.
So I like the Chargers.
I like the Ravens.
And I like the Bills.
That's how it plays out.
Speaking about playoffs,
let's talk about the Packers,
who,
Saints are a joke. I mean, franchises and shambles, right? The amount of money they've allocated,
the car experiment blew up in their face, going in on Dennis Allen. It was just a pretty epic disaster.
They are, that's a team that if it's on television, the only reason you would force yourself to watch
if you're not a Saints fan, any snaps of Saint football is because it was in a situation like,
it's on Monday Night Football and you just can't avoid it. Because if that game,
Monday morning, you just are paying attention like, oh, is Jordan Love on the field?
If not, like, you're just not watching that game.
Matt LaFleur has made the playoffs now.
They clinched.
And it looks like, you know, there's still a chance we'll see.
I mean, if they beat Minnesota and the Lions beat Minnesota, I guess the Packer still
could be the five seed, but probably going to be the six seed and then probably would
play the Rams, which kind of sucks for the Rams.
Like, that's a pretty tough draw as a three-seat getting this Packard team.
That's pretty damn good.
And listen, the organization.
they pivoted off Aaron Rogers, they went all in on Jordan Love,
just an incredible move.
And this team is fun to watch.
Josh Jacobs, how awesome.
Most of my life, right, starting in 92, 93,
like when Ron Wolf takes over, him and Holmgren,
they trade for FAR, they really have been good from like 93, 94 until now.
Obviously, there have been some down seasons,
but it feels like they made the playoffs 85% of the time.
now in a weird way when you've had farvin rogers only going to three total super bowls feels like a little underachievement but right now feels like we might be able to make up for that with le floor and jordan love and i kind of was on a walk the other day trying to sweat off some christmas booze and it kind of hit me that so many franchises right are in major cities laa san francisco dallas Miami
obviously we know all the major cities.
Think of how unique Green Bay is.
They have had two of the best quarterbacks of all time
over the last 30 years.
And now they have a guy that looks like a young ascending star.
And they play in by far the smallest market in America.
When I was on the walk and why I started thinking about this
because I was listening to Scott Van Peltz podcast
and he had just been there from Monday night
and he's like, this has got to be one of the most unique places
in all of pro sports.
it's in the middle of nowhere
there is nothing to do
you're shocked when you like see a target
and obviously
you can be a great franchise
to become a great franchise
you're going to have to hire good coaches
and land quarterbacks and they've done that
like it's not possible to do
that without having those two positions
solidified
but I do wonder if a huge advantage
for the Packers
is just being in a place where there is nothing to do
so think about that
If you're a 24-year-old, a 28-year-old, a 27-year-old,
and you play major college football over the country,
and you get drafted this franchise,
the only people you have to hang out with
and really there's not much to do is, like, go over to their house.
So I wonder if Green Bay, they don't have an owner,
they're in this tiny little town,
benefits from, like, natural team building
by just being in a place
where there is literally nowhere to go and nothing to do.
because one thing when you think about the package
like guys it's always been a pretty close team
pretty tight-knit group
I was like yeah
they just have to spend a lot of time together
especially like they're younger guys
so when you get drafted in a draft class
you and the classes above you like I bet
you just spend a lot more time together
than maybe you would in some of these other bigger cities
where it's like yeah I can just go out to a club
with one other guy or I can go do whatever I want
that is not what you can say in Green Bay
I can just go do whatever I want because there is nothing to do.
And you can't convince me that that is not a major reason that no one ever talks about for their success.
Separated from great coaches, Holmgren, McCarthy, LaFlears Stud,
and awesome, I mean, all-time great quarterbacks.
But I do wonder if this little town and the cohesion built from their group of guys from all over America,
dudes from Texas, dudes from Florida, dudes from Georgia,
He was from California.
They just end up becoming much closer
than maybe they would have
if they would have played in Miami.
I mean, that was a huge thing
we talked about last year in Miami.
People thought Fangio was too big of an asshole.
He was too big of a dick.
You know why?
Because think about,
why has Miami been bad for,
feels like, 25 years?
I know they've made the playoffs a couple times,
but there can't be a city
where there's just more to do.
Like, you think the Raiders
are going to thrive in Vegas?
Probably not.
So if you're a Green Bay fan, it's not quite Kansas City, right?
You'd like to win a couple more championships, but life's pretty good.
You got LaFleur made the playoffs five of six years.
You got Goudicans who Rogers hated.
So he's like, okay, we'll trade you and we'll insert the guy I drafted.
Turns out that guy's sweet.
Cuts Aaron Jones.
Everyone thought he's nuts.
Signs Josh Jacobs, who's been awesome.
Love Josh Jacobs.
All the young skill guys are sweet.
You need a defensive coordinator.
You hire a head coach from Boston College,
who's been an upgrade.
But now you're cruising the playoffs.
And I think if that game turns out to be Rams,
Rams Packers, probably kind of like Green Bay.

Okay, Pete Carroll, I admire.
and I respect guys who are addicted to their craft and eat, breathe, and sleep it. And football coaches,
like people in a lot of different industries at the highest level and the most successful,
are addicted to their craft. Like, they think about it nonstop. They want to be doing it nonstop.
They can't relate to people that just punch in and punch out of work. They have nothing in
common with those human beings.
They love being at the office.
They love talking scheme.
They love breaking down film and draft prospects and going to practice and game planning
and the Sunday or the Saturday night talk to the team and the pregame warmups and that
field of running out the field of running out the tunnel to being in a tie game,
the way it gets your juice is flowing.
Like they're addicted to it.
But the difference between Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick is you saw Bill, Bill,
Bill is not going to get hired in the NFL.
And I do think you could make arguments for a lot of different variables,
but his age was a major factor.
Even if Bill was, people thought he was 10 times the asshole that he actually is.
If he was 60 years old, I promise you he would have got hired last year.
But when you're in your early 70s, you start doing the math, you're like, well,
if we hire him at 72, 73 years old, in like four years,
will almost be 80, but I don't think we want to do that.
And Pete, while he feels younger than Bill, and his energy, and I saw Coward post something
about, like, his energy, no one disputes his energy.
I need to probably get on the Pete Carroll vegan diet.
But no one's hiring him at his age.
And clearly, he's putting it out or, you know, the story that came out from Schefter,
he wants it out, like, I want to coach.
Of course he wants to coach.
One, there aren't many other jobs that pay $10 to $15 million a year.
There are not many other jobs to give you that much notoriety, power,
and public just, you know, that many people talking about you.
But it's not going to happen.
Like, no one's going to hire him.
Now, could the Bears do worse than Pete Carroll?
Of course.
Would the Bears be crazy if they hired him?
No, they wouldn't.
But they're not going to do that.
one because you're going to hire a 53 year old guy
that is very dependent on his offensive coordinator
and then his offensive coordinator was good
he would immediately lose him
and the one thing and listen this might be a Russell Wilson issue
more than a Pete Carroll issue
but every offensive coordinator Pete had
in Seattle got fired
honestly it's one of the craziest parts of Russell's
like pro bowl resume
it's like this guy's one of the best quarterbacks in the league
yet every couple of years his offensive coordinator gets fired
all of his peers who were dominating,
all their offensive coaches
became head coaches.
They didn't get fired.
They went on and got raises.
Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady,
Peyton Manning.
There was not a better player
or a better guy to coach
than a Pro Bowl quarterback.
They send you up the corporate ladder.
Yet somehow with Russell Wilson
and maybe it was a Pete Carroll thing,
I don't know.
But he's just not getting hired.
There is no chance any NFL team is hiring.
Zero. I mean, I just, and I think, you know, Bill, his resume was so great, but the age still played a major factor.
And Pete, like, let's not act like Pete wasn't power hungry, the majority of his Seattle career.
Let's not act like he was telling John Schneider who were drafting.
So while Pete has a big smile, he's jumping around, he's chewing that gum, let's not act like he's Mr.
yeah, you can take these seven things off my plate. I won't need to do it. No, he was very involved.
and listen, it's a fun story.
Cool to put his name out there, but it's not happening.
Last but not least,
only time we'll tell how this will play out.
But me and my brother were just talking because
all these kids, right, have so many electronic toys
from iPads to, I mean, David got a little electric scooter this morning
that goes like 12 miles an hour.
It's pretty badass.
I mean, the kids aren't even five yet.
And the scooter's sweet.
He's got electric cars.
I got him a plane today.
We're flying around the backyard.
It's just overload of stuff.
And I was like, I'm not trying to undersell like my generation in the 90s.
But I felt like when I was a kid, he had a bike.
You had a baseball glove.
Probably had a basketball.
Maybe you had some golf clubs or a tennis racket.
I think very few people that I went to elementary school with had at the time.
The only thing that existed were kind of like games.
Game Boys. Sega Genesis had one. I forget the name of it, but like, I could count on one
hand the people that possess those. And maybe some people had like Nintendo's and by the late 90s
like super Nintendo or mid 90s super Nintendo and Sega, I guess more people had those. But there
wasn't that much stuff for us to be just stimulated nonstop. Like if we just wanted to be stimulated,
we would just like go ride bikes with our friends. And you know, like you didn't have.
have that was it. He just kind of wrote around, right? Now I'm like writing on an electric powered thing to go look at my iPad. And listen, as my brother was saying, and I'm sure my unborn children would do the same, a lot of people. And listen, I struggle with this. Like, I got to put down my phone or my iPad. But all these kids, the world is going to be so technologically driven when, you know, in 20, 30 years. Right. It's just my brother was telling me a story today about one of the neighboring farmers.
who bought this piece of equipment for almost like,
it was like 800 grand.
And he's like the amount in one day they can do
with three people on this equipment,
it takes us with our equipment,
24 people to do.
And this is the first year that this like,
I don't know exactly what it is
or how to explain it further than that,
but basically just can, you know, attack a field
with three human beings where,
historically it took 24 to 30 people
to do the same amount of work.
And technology is going to change everything.
And it's why Elon's been saying forever,
like universal basic income is coming
because a lot of these jobs are just going to get eviscerated.
And people argue about that all the time.
But it's not really, the more and more stories you hear,
you're like, yeah, that's going to be gone.
That's going to be gone.
Jeff was like, I went to get David Taco Bell last week.
I went into the store and I'm waiting for someone to like,
I'm just trying to get a bean and cheese burrito for him.
I'm looking around waiting for someone to serve me.
I stand there for 10 minutes.
And then all of a sudden,
one of the guys in the back is like, yeah, we don't, we just have kiosk now.
Just like, I just, I wasted 10 minutes of my life because I didn't even really,
they don't even have someone the greet.
So it's like, obviously the world's changing.
And it's just pretty crazy the options.
And again, like you have to know technology and have the ability to it because like we were
talking about today, if you don't as a child, in 20 years, you just get lapped.
I mean, you wouldn't even have, you'd have no chance to compete with anybody.
Now, where the balances?
I don't know. I don't even pretend to know where this is going. But it's, I'm not hating on it at all. Like, it's cool. It's fun playing with the toys. Like, it was cool hopping on the scooter. But there was, maybe, you know, part of, and you're seeing it now, like, I don't even know the influencer generation. And maybe there's always been these people. They just haven't had a chance. Like, we had to kind of create on our own. Like, we didn't have a choice. And like, I just don't think his generation.
of kids that were born in the last like five, 10 years, they will ever be bored again.
Like, he won't even know what boring is. And I'm just using him to represent people in general.
It's crazy. I was bored all the time as a kid. Like, I got three channels to watch.
We don't have any movies to watch. It's got to like read a book or go outside and like throw the
baseball up to myself or go ride a bike with a buddy. I mean, you just did pretty basic shit.
it does feel and I feel like an old man on a cloud
I don't even have a kid yet
but like the basic things that just used to happen
and were pretty just normal in society
are kind of just done
they just don't really exist anymore
and a main reason is for technology
now it's just different
and we have to see where it ends up going
but it's just wild
it's just stimulation overload
and listen I'm guilty
like I'm scrolling and on my phone
on YouTube all the time
I'm no different.
So I'm not acting like I'm not part of this as well.
But it's just I don't even know.
I was thinking about this the other day and talk about bored.
I'm like,
I've never bored anymore.
I couldn't be because if I find myself being bored,
I'll just throw on a podcast.
I'll just click on something on YouTube.
I'll just do something through technology.
Like it's impossible to just ever be lost in your thoughts anymore.
Something I kind of miss.
And sometimes I force myself to and you're just like,
God, I don't know if I can do this for too long.
But just some thoughts from Christmas morning.
And I'm going to go eat right now.
So hopefully everyone had a good Christmas.
And for those of you start on Hanukkah tomorrow, happy Hanukkah.
And we will talk soon.
I think I'll do a mailbag here in the next couple days.
But other than that, Godspeed to Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson,
who need to take on Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead.
It's going to be a tough challenge.
Obviously, they've got to get there first.
They've got to take on each other probably first.
But yeah, football, football.
God, family, and football.
That's what we used to say in college in the NFL.
So have a great day.
We will talk soon. Adios.
The volume.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was hungry.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to you. He's like, you know I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.

They had a bogo.
Well, then you got it.

Your husband is not who you think he is.
Your body is not what you thought it was.
Your identity is formed by a secret history.
I'm Danny Shapiro.
And these are just a few of the stunning stories
I'll be exploring on the 14th season of Family Secrets.
He kind of shoved me out of the way and said,
move and he went out the front door and he jumped in a car and drove off and that was the last time
I saw him. Listen to season 14 of Family Secrets on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
