This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in
its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a
majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.
Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
Is everyone lying to me about who they are?
I felt such desperation.
I felt it was what I had to do.
Listen to deep cover the family man.
on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The Volume.
What is going on, everybody? How are we doing?
Just got home from the Big Easy New Orleans and walked in the door probably a couple hours ago.
So I thought, you know, let's do a little podcast because we recorded with Stucky earlier in the week.
He will be on the back end of the pod.
And we dove into the game, props, just gambling on.
straight up, what we liked, what we don't.
I hammered home a J-Lan, Travis Kelsey, anytime touchdown between the two of them early
in the week.
So that's what I got going.
I think it pays like plus 440.
Maybe it's plus 340.
I put $1,000 to win $4,500.
So excited to watch the game and watch those two guys score touchdown.
So I don't really have any takes on the game left.
We've talked that nauseam about it with, I went on with,
on this week, Stucky and I.
So I do want to just go over some stuff that happened in New Orleans.
It was a trip.
So the party, the volume party last night to going to, somehow I was gotten to club
Shay Shay Shanan's party, not because he invited me, but it was fun.
And yeah.
Other than that, we, no mailbag.
And I'm not going to record a mailbag for Saturday because I'm going to be,
at waste management all day tomorrow.
So probably we'll talk to you next on Sunday night with Colin, so excited for that.
And yeah, make sure you subscribe to the podcast if you listen on Colin's feed.
Make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel.
If you like watching the video presentations to the podcast.
And, yeah, but before we dive into some football,
give a shot out to my friends, my partners, and the official ticketing app of this podcast,
do you want to go to a game?
Do you want to, as you leave, you know, the Superdome and right next to it is a smooth.
King Arena where Zions having some smoothies.
But if you want to go to a game, if you want to go to an event, if you want to go, you name
it, what do you want to do?
Go to spring training.
I'm going to waste management.
If you're listening to this on Friday, I'm there.
So any event type like that you want to go to, any concert, you know, Taylor Swift, I don't
think she has an heiress tour, I guess that was last year.
I saw her and Blake lively that looks like that friendship is over.
But any concert you want to go to this spring, this summer.
They got you covered.
Comedy shows, you name it.
You can search by the venue.
You can search by the team.
You can search by the artist.
Then by the arena or the stadium.
You can search by the price point, by where you want to sit.
It shows you where the concert or the stage is.
It just doesn't get any easier to use.
So take the guest work out of buying tickets with GameTime,
download the GameTime app, create an account,
use the code J.O.H.N.
for $20 off and first purchase.
Terms apply.
Again, create an account.
Redeem the code J.O.H.H.N.
for $20 off down on the game time at today, last minute tickets.
The lowest price is guaranteed.
I feel very fortunate that Colin is not a big believer in Radio Row.
And because if he was, I mean, what would I do?
Not go.
I would go and I would participate.
I've always hated Radio Row.
I participated in the radio world.
And I just thought it was so cookie cutter.
And if you don't have relationships and you're not super famous,
like a coward or Stephen A, your interviews with a lot of these guys are just not very good.
Now, it doesn't mean that some can't turn out to be, but that environment is just not for me.
And I'm glad that he looks down upon it.
He just shows up for the party, broadcast a couple days live, and then he's out of there.
But the main, I mean, the only reason I went, and I probably would not have gone if we don't do this
yearly party.
And I go really for two reasons.
To see people like Colin and other people that run the volume and then see which these people
are part of it as well are sales teams and the sponsors.
And one consistent theme I've got in the last couple of years.
And I know this going in, but when you're with people in person, you're hearing this
stuff, you know, we crush it when it comes to the advertisers love being a part of the show.
And that's because we, and when I say we, you guys have been very successful for them.
Because when we promote stuff and we try to make it stuff that I like, like I'm wearing Travis Matthews right now.
You guys, that campaign, they were blown away.
They were like, Middilkoff is pushing some serious product.
You know, game time.
We're the only show on the volume that they've come back to and they're the official ticketing app of this podcast.
And it's a testament to you guys, the loyalty of this show.
you know, we've kind of been, you know, I'm not on television every day, right?
I'm not super famous when it comes to, like, some of these people that talk for a living.
And that's fine.
Like, I don't, you couldn't pay me to be on television.
Well, you probably could, but I wouldn't leave Scottsdale.
If you got a studio here, I might be able to make it.
But my point is that, like, this has been kind of like an underground, just swinging away at our pick and grinding now for six, seven years building this thing up.
And it's really become very successful.
And I owe it all to you guys for listening to this show, telling people about this show,
and being very loyal to what we've got going here.
And I obviously, I mean, if you listen to, you know, I take this very seriously.
Like, I do these every day for a reason.
I've told a lot of people I approach this like a daily radio show.
But this is also my business.
Like, this is my life.
Like, all my chips are in the middle of the table on this venture.
Like, this is, I own this stuff.
like this is my, this is all I have.
Like, I don't have other, you know, side businesses.
Like, this is, this is my profession.
And, um, I really, really appreciate.
And so does everyone that's a part of this thing.
It's just very impressed by what we got going on.
And it's all because of you.
So I, I mean, I truly, this sounds cheesy or whatever.
But thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening whenever you can,
telling people about it.
It's, it's freaking awesome.
And, uh, like I said, I mean, the reason I go is like,
to talk to people part of the volume.
I got some ideas brewing.
But, you know, and also to talk to the sponsors and stuff.
So last night at the party, just a little rundown.
It's a lot of people like, I would say media people.
And then there are some like, all of a sudden you'll look and there will be Terrell Owens.
Like, God, Terrell Owens looks fantastic.
How does Terrell Owens look?
look so good.
He looks exactly like he did
when he played for like the Eagles in 2005.
I was talking to someone on the Eagles staff.
I was like, and I noticed this a couple weeks ago
and he brought it up, he's like, how he looks the same.
I'm like, how he looks the exact same
of when I met him in 2010 and he was 35 years old.
Now he's like 4950, and he literally looks the same.
I feel like I look dramatically different
than I did five years ago.
Maybe I put on a little weight.
fluctuate, you know, diet can be up and down.
But my point, it's great.
I'm looking at Terrell Owens, Shannon Sherp.
Shannon Sharp looks like he could play middle linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers.
Like, he looks like Ray Lewis, except he's got it by a couple inches.
Shannon Sharp is Matt, he looks just fantastic.
And I saw Matt Patricia.
I'm leaving to kind of go, you know, my mindset going to this party, listen,
this is a business trip.
I'll have a cocktail.
I'm going to drink a lot of water.
maybe sip on a beer but I'm not drinking.
All of a sudden, that was the plan.
I was doing a pretty good job.
But then, you know, it gets like 9, 30, 10.
You're like, I got five or six vodkas and it's just nice start flowing.
I see Matt Patricia.
And I'm like, God, I've been pretty hard on this guy.
And I recently listened to some of his podcasts he did with Julian Edelman.
And I was like, you know what?
I kind of like this guy.
Like, he seems like a likable human.
I've seen him on with Portnoy.
It's like, I don't, why?
Like, I don't need to not like.
like this guy. He didn't do anything to me. I'm not a patriot guy. He had a bad year.
Calling offense. Even last year, the defense was not his fault with the Eagles. He got thrust
into the situation. Now, should I go apologize to him? Now, there's, I would say, 95% chance he
wouldn't know me from the man on the moon. So even if I went up to him, be like, bro, yeah, I don't
care. But of the slim chance that he does, obviously his reaction to me would probably be negative.
But I ended up not doing it. But it did cross my mind. Now, everyone was leaving, hopping into this
bus so I was like yeah I gotta go but it did cross my mind uh but it was you know it was a good time
just you just talking a lot of talking a lot of you know when when you put a party together
full of television people podcasters and radio hosts of people to just talk for a living
everyone was just trying to talk over the other people like it's just it's a lot of talkers
in one area I mean it is a ton of people that just think everything that's coming out of their
mouth means a lot. And listen, I'm guilty of this too. I'm not pointing the finger here at anyone
that wouldn't point back on myself. But it's just looking around and everyone is just talking
each other's heads off. So it was really, really enjoyable. Obviously, a lot of positive feedback.
You know, Jamie Horowitz, who is partners with Colin in the volume. And I think he's the president or partners
with Peyton in Omaha. I'm like, listen, I need Peyton, Eli. We got to make this happen sometime this
spring or summer. I will come out to Denver. I want to play golf, film it with Peyton,
have them on the pod. But I want to hang out, Peyton Manning in a professional setting.
We can have cocktails, too, beers. But I pitched that hard. I pitched that really, really hard.
I also met the Kavino and Rich, who any of you guys that follow Collins' podcast feed, they're on there.
And Kavino's story of working at the radio station Howard Stern worked at in the mid to late 90s.
and being around them and then going to serious with them.
I mean, it really is pretty crazy how powerful.
You know, I mean, the two biggest radio hosts in the history of America
in terms of money were Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern.
There's really not even a close third.
I mean, at one point in time, he was telling me Howard Stern
was making like $150 million a year.
And it's like the early 2000s.
Obviously, $150 million a year now is still a shitload of money.
It was a lot more money back then.
Like, there's not like many things in the world that wouldn't essentially be free.
So, I mean, it's pretty crazy how much.
much in his heyday he was making how powerful his brand was. I mean, Series XM didn't even really
operate. They signed him and, I mean, it became a business model. Just one human being, they
built the business model under him. And then somehow with one of our, the head sales guys for
I heart and some other radio hosts from Nashville, who I didn't know, I just met him last night.
Like, we're going another party. I'm like, shit, I'm in. Let's go. Where are we going?
and all of a sudden we take this van to the casino.
I didn't even realize there were casinos in downtown New Orleans.
And we are going up escalators, back rooms,
all of a sudden the door opens, someone gives you a wristband.
They're like, who you hear with?
I'm like, these guys.
And you get the wristband on, you walk in, and it is club shay-shay.
It is Shannon Sharpe's party.
It is everything you'd think it would be.
It's kind of dark.
I mean, it's got to be at the top of the casino.
know dark some windows looking out over new orleans just bar packed a ton of dudes and i mean a
ton of dudes who i grew up watch i mean everywhere you look there you bump into tim brown you'd bump into
you know michael irvin it was just you know kind of worn moon just like his crew his era of just
like all these motherfuckers that played in the 80s and the 90s like i'm not saying they are and i'm not
trying to be that guy, but you just don't get any tougher than these guys. And the one thing you
realized being at the Super Bowl, being around these NFL guys, they are massive. They are very,
very big. I mean, they're all, even just the receiver, like you run into Tim Brown or Michael
Irvin, like good luck tackling that guy. When I flew out, Debo Samuel was on my flight and we got
deplane from the flight. It was kind of, I mean, honestly, it was pretty tragic. Someone died. We got on
the plane, probably half the plane was on the plane. Then all of a sudden they scream over the,
the emergency, you know, the, like the pilot does. Hey, is there a medical professional? Is there a
medical professional? All of a sudden, some lady runs up and we're just sitting there for like 20 minutes.
And I see Debo go to the bathroom. Then he comes back and some late, he was like a couple rows ahead
of me and some ladies ask him like, what was going on? I mean, they don't know who he is.
And he's like, yeah, he's just laying there. It doesn't look like he's moving. And then it was like
another 15 minutes. I'm like, I had to go to the bathroom. When I went to the bathroom,
they were giving him the shock treatment, and it was clearly not good. And, you know, they didn't
tell me directly, but I was like, did he pass? Because they make us all get off the plane. We had to wait
hours. And she basically alluded to it did not go well. So that's just, it was hard to even
be mad. It's like, my day, I mean, I can't even imagine. I was trying to take a flight to New Orleans.
All of a sudden he lost his life. But I was sitting, then on the plane, I'm sitting next to
Debo. And I've seen him at practice. I mean, I've been to a ton of practice. I mean, I've been to a ton of
practices with evil Samuel, but when you're sitting next to him, the size, I mean, the size and the
thickness of all these guys. It's like, this is a grown, vulgar, man's league. It really is.
At the party last night, you know, Colin and a bunch of his crew from L.A. flew out on Thursday
morning to New Orleans, and Bryce Young was on the flight. And Greg Toey, who works on Colin's show,
was like, bro, it was crazy how small he is. I'm like, yeah, he's probably the smallest player in
the history of the league. Definitely a quarterback.
I mean, he's like $5.9.
A buck 80. Like that is not
the size of these guys.
I mean, they are mad. I can't tell you
how many, the thing with the NFL, you can
run into a guy.
If you're not like working in the league or
he's not on your team,
you just don't know exactly
who it is, but you know like,
yeah, it's got to be a detackler guard.
Like they're just, I walk around society.
Humans don't look like that.
I don't know. I'm not going to ask the guy who he is,
but he's an NFL player.
And they just are bigger than all the other humans.
And then we go to Shee Shea, and it is just, it's dark.
It's just early, late 90s, early 2000s, like a lot of, like, jagged edge.
It's everything I would imagine.
And I'm like, you know what?
I got to go introduce myself to Shannon.
I work with Shannon, right?
All part of this volume.
I'm like a coworker of Shannon.
And again, he's sitting next to Stephen A.
and they're just, you know, some ladies around them, like, life's good for those two guys.
I'm like, you know, I'm just going to go talk to Shannon Sharp.
And I tried, and now granted it was loud, probably not the ideal situation.
I bet when I left that interaction, if you told me that he thought that I was like the guy that cleans the toilets at Fox Sports 1, very possible.
I also tried to do it with Ocho Cinco.
Now, he was like passing by also didn't go that well.
I would say the coolest conversation I had there by a mile
was to chaos spikes.
And you always got to do, you know, when you see these guys,
I'm never going to be.
I always try to have an in, right?
Like I ran into LaDainan Thomas in today.
Well, I'm good buddies with Lorenzo Neal.
So is, he's really good friends with him.
I mean, it's like one of LaDena Thomas's best friends.
So it's like, okay, that's my end.
So I walk up to L.T. in the gym and I go,
hey, Lone is one of my good buddies.
And he smiles and we start BS him for a minute.
And so you got to have it in.
So I look at Takedaio and I was like,
I loved you when you played that year for the 49ers.
And he lit up.
He was like, that was one of my favorite years of my career.
And then we started BS and I said, hey, man,
I used to work with Coach Reed and Spags.
Well, he played for the Eagles.
And you're looking at Takao Spikes and you go,
I can't even imagine.
And Takao looks like he easily could give the Eagles or Chiefs 30 snaps,
especially against the run.
Fucking, being a running back and meeting that guy,
in the hole, good luck. Like the one thing, I would say the smallest, awesome player that I ran into
by Amat was Ledainan Thomason. And he's been retired for a long time and he just, in general, isn't that,
you know, tall? So like, if you didn't know exactly who he was, you wouldn't think like that's an
NFL player. But also in the gym, I'm pretty sure it was Anquan Bolden who was giving a workout. He was
there an hour going like he is training for the NFL draft. It was great. I was like, if that is Anquan
Bolden, I'm pretty sure it is. He is getting after it. But, uh,
Keo Spikes, man, you talk about a badass. There was like an intensity to him.
He was cool. So that was fun. And then I was like, okay, I got to just go home. It's like
one o'clock in the morning. Nothing's really, it's like, I don't know anyone at this event.
It's just, it feels like it's kind of clearing out too. To kind of make my way down. I'm like,
I'm starving because I didn't eat any dinner. I have like kind of a late lunch. I just, I didn't feel,
It was so hot and humid.
I just ordered room service.
I got a chicken sandwich.
The bread was awful, so I basically ate the chicken.
And you kind of eat some, like, handheld snacks at the volume party.
And all of a sudden, I see this, like, a little pizza hole in the wall.
It's like 1 o'clock in the morning.
I'm like, I'm going to get a slice of pizza.
End up getting two.
But who's in there?
Lendale White.
It's me and Lendale White.
So I'm like, well, I got to say something to him.
So we just start talking about the Trojans.
And one thing is, when you're ever around someone from USC,
The best way to just end your conversation when you're walking away is just go, fight on.
And that's been my go-to move with a lot of these Trojan players for a long time.
And he looks at me, and he goes, fight on.
I walked out with my pieces of pizza.
Slammed him and went to bet.
This morning, I ran into Sam Darnold multiple times.
And we actually ended up talking golf for a minute about where he plays in Southern California.
And then we're talking, he's wearing a master shirt.
So we're talking about golf and how he plays with Josh Allen.
And then all of a sudden I look up and coming in the door is Jared Gough.
I'm like, this is, and I'm saying at the JW Marriott, not because, well, I mean, I get free points.
I don't travel that much.
So when I do, I am more inclined to go to the nicer hotel.
And honestly, I mean, the hotel was technically free for me because I use my points.
And they screwed me on a room, so I got the first night free.
But the J.W was, I mean, just loaded with players.
That's where the quarterbacks were staying.
The thing about Sam Darnold, and this is why I always say about quarterbacks,
and then when Jared Gough walked in, you know, like 5'10, they are huge.
I mean, they're not like super thick.
I would guess both Sam may weigh 220, maybe golf, 215, somewhere in that range.
But they are both pushing 6'5.
They are really, really tall.
And this is why you think height doesn't mean anything.
It's like, yeah, it kind of matters.
It helps to be able to see.
Jared Goff can't move.
So it helps to be able to sit in the pocket and release the ball from the middle of the pocket
and be able to not have to move to see over your guard or tackle.
But one thing that hit me, whether it was whoever, and again, most of these people,
I'm just charting a conversation with do not know me.
We do not have a relationship.
And I'm not trying to like, hey, I'm calling, I just try to talk like a normal human.
And I would say, and I've always thought this, the NFL is full.
of really, really high-level guys.
There's a lot of humility to a lot of these guys,
especially when they're playing in the league.
And I think a huge part of it is,
they get yelled at constantly.
They get criticized all the time.
I watched Debo when we got Deploying and sit there,
and there was this dude who was just decked out in Kansas City Gear,
and he was flying to the game.
I don't think he was actually going to the game,
but he was flying in New Orleans.
and he was just shooting the shit with Ebo
like peppering him with football questions.
I think he was on Debo was on his fantasy team.
And Debo couldn't have been any nicer.
It's like you just see these guys.
And I remember back in the day when the league was kind of going through it
when some of their guys were getting in trouble,
even then it was such a small percentage of players
who were kind of like slap dicks.
The large percentage of this league is pretty easy going.
Nice guys.
They're just obviously really good.
You know, absolute monsters on the football field.
But I've always been impressed by that when I worked in the league, when I did radio
and I was around them a lot.
And you go to events like this and you just see them interact.
It's like pretty high-level group.
The NFL is in a really, really good shape with the crew of guys they have.
And that was kind of it.
Then I got into a plane and I got the hell out of there.
So it's 36, 38 hours felt about right.
And yeah, I think that.
That place is crazy, man.
If you've never been, you got to probably enjoy it.
We'll dive into them in a minute.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, Guy?
I honestly don't remember
I think it was on a call about what we should call it
and...
We were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers
was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast
where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little
notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title
for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough,
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

One thing I want to hit on is I watch Miles Garrett with Rich Eisen.
So after his trade requests and then him talking about it,
I thought he did it in a really, really level-headed way.
And like I think it's at this time, like if you're Cleveland,
I think he just trade him.
I think the time is now.
I think he's handling it in a very mature way.
I think he was smart to handle it that way, basically put out like,
come get me, guys.
make sure you start calling them
because if I do not put this out there
they're not going to put it out
and you know Cleveland only has themselves
to blame
like they were out of the Deshawn Watson business
this all gets back to them
or him
and I think anytime
you know what Miles Garrett is saying
without saying this franchise
is fucked and I want
no part of it I don't want to be part
of this team
with this elephant in the room with this contract
It's an anchor on our franchise.
And there is no way out, no matter what we do.
Even if we draft a quarterback at number two,
the likelihood that it's going to be C.J. Stroud is probably not that high.
It's more likely than it looks like a lot of these quarterbacks.
It's a struggle for them as a rookie.
So, like, sometimes you see Max Crosby's tunes change a little bit.
He goes back and forth because I think at Max Crosby's core,
he wants to win and he wants to be in,
in in in oak or Vegas you know i think at miles garrett's core he just knows like this is not a place
and i don't know if you know max is going to be able to realize that especially this year like more
than likely the raiders aren't going to be good this year and he's going to continue wasting years
in his prime like i wouldn't fault max either if he did the same thing which i don't expect him to do
now that pete carroll's there but like i i never have a problem with a guy requesting a trade
if they've been there for a long time and they've produced you know i have a problem
when guys request to trade, it's like, they're in their like second year. It's like,
oh, there's now competition in the wide receiver room. It's like, suck it up, bro. You're not Jerry
Rice. Calm down. You know, but this guy is giving you eight, nine years. He's been an all pro pro
bowler for six, seven straight. He just was a defensive player of the year. Like, there's nothing else
he plays his balls off. Like, what else you want another guy? He's giving you all he has.
And I think any time that you kind of put all your chips in the middle of the table and you,
you give it all, whether it's to a personal relationship, whether it's to a professional relationship,
and you get to a point where, yeah, this isn't going to work. And I think most of us, I can just speak for myself,
because maybe we're all different. You know, some people that are very analytical and numbers driven,
try to quantify it more. I'm always, and I've always been, and still to this day, moving forward,
like, I'm a gut feel. I'm a feel guy. I know, like, I just have to trust when something on or off.
and I think most humans, I do think that crosses you.
Now, some people need to validate it by something tangible on paper
or tangible on an Excel spreadsheet.
But it's pretty clear, like, Miles Garrett understands where this franchise is at,
and it's not going to change.
Okay, how about my friends at Louisiana Hot Sauce?
Bring, let's talk about a city that's really hot
and a team that's really hot, presented by our friends of the Louisiana Hot Sauce,
saw him last night.
Bring the food at your big game party to a whole new,
level with the original Louisiana brand hot sauce with bold, authentic flavor that embodies
the rich culinary tradition of Louisiana.
The original Louisiana brand hot sauce is perfect for those who demand great flavor with
just the right amount of heat.
I would say this.
There is no hotter city, literally it was 75 degrees in humid.
How do people, and I like the South, getting married in Nashville here in about a month,
But when I see 75 degrees and it's February 3rd, I don't expect humidity.
So when you get out of the plane, it's like legitimately humid.
I mean, today walking around, like, I was sweating.
I was like, God, this is brutal.
But that city is made for the Super Bowl.
There are certain places that are made to host the Super Bowl.
Like in theory, like, oh, Los Angeles, not a great Super Bowl city.
It's really spread out.
It doesn't really work.
You go, well, Scottsdale.
Scottsdale is pretty cool, but where everything is in Old Town is 45 minutes away from where the stadium is.
So it's not like this.
I'm talking to my buddies with the Eagles.
They are going to walk from their hotel to the Superdome on Super Bowl Sunday to go to the game.
Everything's in walking distance.
It is tailor-made to host these events.
And I think it's perfect that when the Kansas Chiefs are trying to become the most historic team in the history of the league,
No team has ever won three straight Super Bowls.
Are they the best team of all time?
We can debate that until the cows come home.
Do they have the best roster of all time?
Obviously not.
But I do believe this.
If they win this Super Bowl in New Orleans,
no one's ever doing that again.
No one's ever winning three Super Bowl.
I don't even think, I'd be shocked non-chiefs
if a team ever went to three straight Super Bowls again.
It's just very, very difficult in this salary cap league.
because typically during that time you would have to pay some players
and then you have to get rid of your roster dramatically changes.
Somehow the Chiefs were able to change their roster
and trade Tyree Khill,
who's like one of the great wide receivers in the history of the league
and still be awesome.
But I think it's awesome that they're doing in New Orleans.
That place, if you told me the Super Bowl,
it was like the Masters.
The Super Bowl was in New Orleans every single year.
I don't think many people would complain.
Or if you just told me it was a two city,
rotation. New Orleans and Miami back and forth. Because I was asking someone this. It's like,
well, isn't the stadium kind of old? Yeah, it's not great, but who cares? It's not even about the stadium.
That's not Super Bowl Week. Super Bowl Week is about everything else. The festivities, the food. And the one
thing with New Orleans is like, it's got something for everybody. If you want to rage,
go to Bourbon Street, and that place is jumping. If you just want to go to some sweet dinner,
you're on the other side of Canal Street. There are just restaurants everywhere. They're like,
place is sweet, this place is sweet. I ask
a couple people to recommend, like, where should I go?
They're like, well, this one, this one, this one, this one.
They're all five minutes away.
There's a casino, multiple casinos, downtown.
Like, this is heaven. This is awesome.
So props in New Orleans, you talk about a city that is literally and figuratively
hot right now. It is just a perfect, perfect Super Bowl city.
So stay hot, New Orleans. That's brought to you by my friends at Louisiana
Hot Sauce because Louisiana hot sauce is hot and is the perfect pick to match your game day eats.

Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Okay, this is a, this is bittersweet.
This is bittersweet.
I got my man Stucky just in the trenches of Lexington.
You heathens booed a man who gave you 15 years, won a title.
And he did it classy and he still beat you.
I was there.
But how cool was that?
Yeah, it was an electric, I'm sure.
It was funny.
They were actually...
We're talking John Calipari, Kentucky, by the way.
Yeah, they were...
Yeah, there was a lot of booze.
I went with my father.
One of those games were just packed 20 minutes before, huh?
Yep.
Even prior to that.
But they always give you bottles of beer at Rupp,
but they had all the workers pouring beers into cups.
which is very annoying for them,
a full stadium.
It was a Calipari request.
He requested no bottles.
I guess he was afraid that people were going to throw bottles.
Do you think they would have, honestly?
No, I mean, no, I don't think so.
That seems crazy.
But, yeah, it got kind of contentious at the end
with some of the players and the fans.
But, yeah, disappointing game for Kentucky fans.
But, yeah, it was,
Not the best game for Kentucky.
So we'll see if they can bounce back.
But, yeah, last football game until August.
Kind of sad.
It really is.
We're recording this early in the week.
So obviously things can change a little bit.
I mean, I think these practices, I was talking to a buddy on the chief.
Once you get to the site, the practices aren't exactly.
You know, I think they have intense practices usually last week where some pads get sweat.
this is more, you know, midway walkthrough.
And if you look at these teams, right, they both, I mean, they have a lot of veteran players.
The Eagles got some influx of young guys.
I mean, the Chiefs have younger players, but it's like, I remember last year I was in Vegas,
and I went out with one of my buddies on the scouting staff.
And he's like, you know what's crazy?
He's like, and that was before they had won the game, but they were about to win the game.
Like, think about Karlofskis and McDuffie, who were, they trade Tyree Kill.
they use their two first round picks.
They trade up. They get McDuffie.
They actually do a trade with Belichick to get Karlofskis.
All those two guys know, they're two times Super Bowl champs.
They've been in the league just their third year.
They've won two rings, and they are favored to win their third.
That's right.
I mean, that's, I mean, like Joe Montana, you know, mean Joe Green,
like the history, no one can even relate to the life they're leading.
And Patrick Mahomes can't relate to the life they're leading.
They're living good.
bro. It's insane.
They'll have been good. I, I've already, I saw you,
during Pebble Beach, tweet out some live wagers, your boy.
You know, I put in like a thousand bucks and I spread it around.
And I put a little on Rory before 14 to 1. So I hit that.
Nice.
I got a little, I got a little action. I've already placed a Kelsey Jalen same game
parlay to both score. I guess we have to just talk about the big picture game
before we get in all the props.
I mean, I've learned my lesson,
betting against Kansas City.
Though I do think, you know,
if you just look at their last two games,
I think this Eagles team is definitely better
than the last two teams they beat.
But I'm not trying to justify or figure this out
once your Ravens two years ago lost that game.
It's like, I'm just not betting against this team.
I've learned my lesson.
I just bet on the football gods taking them out
with Josh Yow and the bills.
That didn't happen.
I heard a stat from Cousin Sal
that if you like the favorite to win
like they usually cover
I think like a large percentage of the teams
of the last of the last like 15 years
it was just the Rams I think it was a close game
but other than that like the favors
favorites just cover
so if you like Kansas City obviously just hammer
one and a half which is
what they were just last week
and they hammered that pretty easily
I guess not super easily
but I just think, how do you bet against the Chiefs?
I mean, you know, it's just when you look at it, you go,
Andy Reid, Mahomes versus Siriani and Jalen,
though it's not that simple because, I mean,
Pirani's not calling plays.
He's just kind of sitting there with Dom,
motivating the troops, right?
It's really Andy versus Fangio, but Patrick and Andy,
now granted, he was on some, you know, Denver wasn't exactly a great team
when he was there.
They kicked their ass.
So it's just, how do we get around going,
the Philadelphia Eagles are going to win this game.
Because I saw this clip.
I think I was at the gym within the last like month
and they were replaying the Super Bowl from Arizona.
I had forgotten that the Chiefs were down 10 points
of halftime to the Eagles.
I mean, Hertz played amazing and they still lost.
Like they were getting worked.
Yep.
Well, you say you don't bet against Gomes
in the playoffs.
You've learned your lesson.
He's been down at all three of these Super Bowls in the second half,
all three of them.
Four. Four.
Yeah, but I'm talking about the ones he's won.
Yeah. But, yeah, the one he lost, he was down.
He got killed.
So 2019, they were tied at the half, and then,
in the second half. They were tied 10-10, 131, 20.
2020, they were down 21-6 at the half lost 31-9.
22, down 24-14 into the first half, 138, 35.
That was against the Eagles.
and then last year down 10-3 at the end of the first half, 1, 25, 22.
Mahomes eight no straight up and against the spread in the playoffs as a favorite of
under a fuel goal or an underdog.
So yeah, why I bet against them?
But I placed a wager on something that I bet last year.
I bet the 49ers first half.
I bet the Eagles first half.
There was a plus one and a half out there, but even plus half, plus a half is fine.
I paid a little extra for plus one-and-a-half.
Maybe it's a little lower scoring early.
Maybe Jake Elliott misses an extra point.
You're not worried about Philly being a pretty terribly starting team most of the season?
Yeah, that worries me a little bit.
But the Chiefs have started slow in all of these Super Bowls as well, which is surprising.
But because when I break these two teams down, if you look at their rosters, like position by position,
offensive line.
Like, give me Philadelphia.
Wide receivers.
Give me Philadelphia.
Running back.
Give me Philadelphia.
Like tight end.
Maybe I'm close to wash.
And Kelsey in the playoffs is different, but it's not a huge edge.
Defensive line, I'd take Philadelphia.
I mean, Chris Jones is a monster.
Carlath is really good.
So maybe it's close to even.
Linebacker without Dean, maybe it's close to even.
Secondary, I'll take Philadelphia.
So where's the difference?
It's quarterback and coaching.
So again, like, if Mahomes has the ball late with a chance to win the game, he's probably
going to win it.
Will Hertz against Spag's defense?
Not as confident in saying that.
Who do I trust to make better adjustments at halftime, the Chiefs?
So I took the plus, I took the points with the Eagles in the first half, although I expect
the Chiefs to win.
I will look to bet this game live, just like I did Chief's bills every time that.
Chiefs went up. I'll bet the bills live, then the bills would score. I would bet the Chiefs live.
Like, the most likely outcome is Chiefs win this game by three, which they seem to do more often than not in the playoffs, in Super Bowls, in the regular season, whenever.
They just do enough to win. And, yeah, so I bet the Eagles first half will be looking to bet the Chiefs live.
Don't fault anyone for betting Chiefs full game for sure. It's just Mahomes and that staff.
have done. Their offense is now healthier. They obviously also hold stuff back. It's pretty obvious. In the
regular season, they kind of just do what they need to do. And then, like, last week, you have the wrinkles of
Mahomes running the ball. So they have, now you have two weeks to prepare. You're going to see some
more wrinkles on offense. You're going to see Spags have some, some wrinkles and some, you know,
some blitzes that just catch the Eagles off guard. Hertz holds the ball forever. How many drives does that
kill. The game plan is going to be focused on, especially on early downs on taking away
Barclay. Kenny Break runs. That'll be interesting to watch. But the really interesting part about
this match is you have two teams that really control the ball. They're used to just dominating
time possession. And now they're playing against each other. Who is going to win that battle?
Who's going to be able to convert those third downs more often? Over the course of the game,
it's probably the chiefs. Can they prevent the Eagles from getting a fourth and one from getting
all those tush pushes.
So I think it'll be a super competitive game.
I think the Eagles have a better roster,
but as we've seen so many times in this game,
just like that San Francisco game,
I thought San Francisco had the better roster.
It's Mahomes, Reed, and that staff.
That'll probably be the difference.
But I think it'll be a competitive game.
The one thing, look, you can be tired of the Chiefs,
but the one thing that you can say
is they at least usually give us a,
you know, in a compelling game that's close.
Sure. For sure. I mean, to me, they are, the one thing the Patriots brought to the table, and obviously that thing, I mean, who knows? I mean, this Chiefs early on. I mean, Mahomes is, I don't think 30 yet. Andy definitely, he's slimmed down. He's eating well. So he's a young, vibrant 66. I mean, he's still got, he ain't going away. And Veach is young. I mean, this kind of nucleus now, maybe Chris Jones and Kelsey change out as the Patriot change out some players. But they're not necessarily going away.
but people got tired of the Patriots, but they were always entertaining games.
Like, their games were part of their legend is it was just must watch TV.
You know, it wasn't some blowout, you know, that Seattle, Denver game in New York.
I was like, that sucked.
No one believes that's ever going to happen with the Chiefs.
Literally it doesn't happen this season.
Every single game in somewhat looks the same and they end up winning what?
17 of the 19 of the games.
And one of them they punt it.
one of them they didn't even care. Yeah, and they've won an NFL record number of one possession
games in a row. And a lot of that is reliable kicker, good coaching, All-Fame quarterback, who's
going to win you the game late, and they just do enough to win. And then you've got a defensive
coordinator who's going to call up timely blitzes, like just better against with the other off,
with their tendency breakers. We saw that against the bills on that key fourth down. Bills were not
expecting them to blitz as they did, and it ended up winning them the game.
So they just have, at the end of the game, they just have so many championship caliber
characteristics from the coaching to the special teams to most importantly, the quarterback,
especially if you give Mahomes four downs and he needs it to go down the field.
He's probably going to get it done.
So, yeah, I think the Eagles have the better overall team, but against the Chiefs and all their
championship DNA, a lot of times that doesn't matter.
Well, if you go back two years ago, and I remember my buddies with the Eagles are like, listen,
we really like Gannon.
We think he's going to be a better head coach than he was a coordinator.
Like he's just good with the team, good motivating, but he's not, no one's getting him
confused with Steve Spagnola or whatever.
Sure.
So they've upgraded a defensive coordinator since two years ago.
That defense was good, right?
Didn't they lead the league in sacks?
I mean, they had like four double-digit guys.
interior and exterior, it was like Fletcher, Hargrave, and a couple of the edge rushers.
But this defensive line right now is played pretty well.
And you'd go, they upgraded at coordinator.
And Slay was a little younger, obviously a couple years ago.
Bradbury was just okay.
So they're probably better at corner, very similar at safety.
And they literally brought the dude back, CJ, who played that game, took a year off, came back.
But what do you make of, if you go, okay, because that Eagles defense was pretty top-notch,
very similar this year.
Could you even argue an upgrade?
But the coordinator, who is, I think,
one of the better ones of a generation,
but the matchup with Andy and Mahomes
being comfortable with, you know,
Vic ain't Belichick.
It doesn't look different every week.
Like, you kind of know what you're getting.
And when he's got really good players,
and I saw it firsthand with the Niners,
he'll beat the shit out of you.
And I remember going to a game when he played the Chiefs.
When Andy first got that, the Chiefs were pretty good.
He turned it around quick because they were really good on defense.
But Alex was kind of their,
limitation. I remember they beat him in a
in just a bloodbath game between
the two teams like Tom Ball Lee and Justin
Houston. It was like, God, this thing's, someone's
going to get like, die on the field here.
But once he got Mahomes
and playing those Denver teams, but it's
also like, those Denver teams were terrible.
It wasn't all fixed fault, right?
So what do you make of that?
Yeah, I mean, I'm fascinated
to watch, I mean, the Eagles defense,
they addressed, you got to give
Howie Roadsman a lot of credit. They addressed their biggest
needs on that side of the ball.
number one coordinator upgrade.
But their corners were lacking,
and they brought in DeGine and Mitchell,
who both hit.
I mean, they're playing outstanding.
And then linebacker was a huge position of need,
and they brought in Zach Bowen,
he played in an all-pro level.
And, you know, he had Nacobo D.
And unfortunately got hurt.
But they really addressed their biggest needs,
and it's translated on the field.
They've arguably been the best defense in the NFL this year.
I'm always so fascinated to watch.
You have two weeks to prepare.
You know, there is some familiarity there.
You know the chiefs are going to have some wrinkles on both sides of the ball.
What do the Eagles do from, because you have to change what you already have on film.
You have to come with some new wrinkles against Mahomes.
So that's what I'm most fascinated to watch.
I do think that their corners can match up on the outside with the Chief's wide receivers.
And I anticipate the Chiefs will try to attack over the middle of the field.
and the Chiefs running, I mean, the Eagles run, he's been really good, too.
The Chief's rushing attack has not been as efficient since they kicked out Tuni to left tackle,
which Reed said they're going to still do.
I think Mons is just more comfortable when he's a left tackle from a protection standpoint,
but it's definitely weakened their run blocking with Caliando and left guard.
He's a Tuni, all pro left guard, and, you know, you get a big.
Did they have the best guard, center guard combo in the league?
Yeah.
And then, you know, do your tackles?
you had a big left tackle
who struggled in pass protection
which could ruin a game
which is probably why
they're more comfortable with tuning out there
but you have a big tackle
and then tuning at left guard
that great interior like your running game
was much better so this will probably be
a just
higher volume Mahomes passing in
which we see in the playoffs
more often than not
but what wrinkles does Fangio
have is
and it'll be across the board
We can look at this matchup
and what these teams have done all year,
but it's the Super Bowl.
It's one game,
there's two weeks to repair.
There's going to be some schematic surprises,
and that could end up deciding the game.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers,
and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas.

And then I wrote down on my little notepad, hey Jonas.
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Okay, let's dive into some props.
You know, I think once they made the Super Bowl, there was already a lot of buzz out there.
Maybe if they had missed Kelsey goes, hey, I so got, he had just got a contract extension in the previous year.
Once they make it, win or lose, like he's no dummy.
He understands how difficult.
I mean, he was in the league a long time before they started rattling off these Super Bowls.
if he was on the fence, I think there's a pretty good chance that he's done.
Yep.
And, you know, him and, him and Andy have a pretty special relationship.
Like, Andy's kind of, it's going to be like clutch, LeBron, Lakers.
Like, they're all kind of in the loop here.
I think Andy is going to get this guy a touchdown.
Or at least try and have some wrinkles to have this guy scoring the Super Bowl.
So you can get Kelsey, who is, I don't know,
on a short list of great playoff performers in the history of the league.
at plus 1.35 on draft king to score a touchdown.
That was just an auto hammer to me.
Donate that. Yeah, I mean, he's going to be heavily involved.
Both tight ends. I know you like Goddard too, but I think the tight end's big this week.
Yeah, I anticipate the Chiefs will try to attack over the middle of field. No Dean.
That is the weakness. I think the Eagles have the advantage of corner. The Runny's good.
Chiefs aren't running it as well. I also like worthy anytime touchdown.
He actually is just below Kelsey in targets perils.
route run in the red zone this year and he leads the team in red zone reception touchdowns.
He also gets the ball other ways. They'll hand it to him in the red zone. So plus 165 you can find
on him. I think that should be closer to plus 140. But yeah, Kelsey's going to be heavily involved
here. And I agree. If he wins this, I could see him riding off into the sunset. I mean,
it's just three-beated. What else is there to do? Going out on top. Yeah, I like Goddard a lot.
I mean, the Chiefs can't. They really struggle.
to defend tight ends.
I give up the most yards per route run
against opposing tight ends
of any team in the NFL.
Why do you think that is?
Six catches per day.
They're really good against.
They blitz a lot.
They're really good on the outside
against receivers.
So where else are you throwing the ball?
And their linebackers and safeties
aren't elite in coverage.
So there's opportunity there in Goddard.
I mean,
past seven games since he came back, he looks fully healthy, he looks great. He's averaged about
four and a half catches on five and a half targets for about 52 yards per game. But in the
playoffs, this is the guy who always shows up. Last week, I think he had seven catches on eight
targets for 85 yards. He's played eight playoff games since becoming basically a full-time starter.
Six out of the eight, he's at least five catches. Six out of the eight, he's had at least
50 yards. He's averaged six catches on about eight targets for 64 yards. If you look at the
medians, it's like five and a half catches on six and a half targets for 60 yards. Chiefs also run a
lot of man. Goddard, elite versus man, almost four yards per route run this year, which is number
one amongst all tight ends against man coverage. And even if you look at the games where there's only
six or seven of them, when Goddard, A.J. Brown, and DeMante Smith all played together.
with Ertz. Goddard was still number two in Target chair. Also, high target share against the Blitz. I think
they've got to get the ball out quick here. And look, the Eagles are used to playing from ahead.
They played a soft schedule. They're used to playing with the lead, up big, and then you just run the ball and run out the clock, right?
Well, they're underdogs in this game. You're more likely than most of your games you play this year to be in a more past heavy game script.
So I think that Goddard should get a bunch of looks here.
A scary one I like is Mahomes' longest rush under 13 and a half.
Look, if there's ever a third and 13, I'm going to be shitting my pants because he always
just finds a way to run for like one more yard.
And it seems like he just knows the perfect speed to be at, whether it's a defensive
lineman, a lineback or a corner, he's always one step ahead and he'll get the first down by a yard.
But I think this is too high.
It's open to like 10 and a half, and it's a popular bet.
So a lot of times these popular overs get inflated.
I don't know.
I'm trying to figure out this is going to go to 14 and a half or not.
But if you want to bet unders, you want to bet them later in the week.
You know, they tend to peak around Thursday, Friday, Saturday, quarterback drops on Saturdays.
All the public money can have a say on this.
If you want to bet overs on popular players, you want to bet them earlier on.
But Mahomes, he does run more in the playoffs.
But if you look, over the course of his entire career, he's had 540 rush attempts.
54 of them have gone for more than 13.5 yards.
It's about 10%.
In the playoffs, he runs a little more.
He runs about five and a half carries per game in the playoffs compared to about four in the regular season.
he's had 108 playoff rush attempts.
Ten of them have gone over 13-nav.
So that's only about 9%.
All of his games combined.
He's played 132 games.
Only 46 of those games is he had a rush over 13 and a half yards.
It's about 35% of his games.
Only gone over at 9 out of 20 times in the playoffs.
This year, 5 out of 18 games.
And only about one out of every 15 carries has gone for over.
13 and a half yards. His rushing props are about five and a half carries. I think he would need
like eight-ish carries on average to get over this because, number one, some other reasons
to like this. The Eagles, they don't give up any explosive plays. They keep everything in front
of them. It's not a man-heavy defense that's going to blitz a lot. So the chances of a
homes being able to break one are lower than, you know, that would be in some other matchups.
And if you look this year, the Eagles allowed 84 quarterback rushing attempts.
Only four went for over 13 and a half yards.
That's less than 5% of the quarterback carries.
And they faced Jane Daniels three times and Lamar Jackson once.
And those quarterbacks, Lamar and Daniels who were the best runners in the NFL,
they have 30 carries.
only three of them went for over 13-half yards.
So one out of every 10.
So if you're expecting Mooms to get like six-ish carries here,
I think there's value on this under.
The other thing to keep in mind is the Eagles are a ball control offense,
like the Chiefs.
The Chiefs are used to having the ball for most of the game.
Well, now you're playing another team that could have
eight to nine-minute drives,
which just takes away some of the opportunities that Mahomes might have
to get rushing attempts.
So I think that's, I think over 13.5 is a bit too high.
It opened at like 10.5 which I think is probably closer to where this should be priced.
It's scary. He could easily get it, but I think it's too high.
What about the other quarterback on the ground?
Because I just looked in 22 when they lost Super Bowl, they only played three games, right?
Because they were the one seat.
So they had, they played two games and one was against the Niners when Purdy got injured.
He had five touchdowns during that.
run. And this year he's got, he just had three, but he had the long run against the Rams,
or was that the Packers? Was the Packers to open up the game? Yeah. One of those two teams.
It's Packers, yeah. And you can get him just any time touchdown at minus 110. To me, it feels
I have a hard time seeing it for whatever reason. And I don't know if the stats don't back this up,
but I feel like every single game, they get a situation like the one or two yard line.
and that's clearly just automatic.
So it's why I parlayed the Kelsey Jalen anytime parlay,
but I have a hard time seeing Jalen hurts,
not score.
I feel it's more likely that Jalen's scored a touchdown
than Sequin Barkley scores touchdown?
Am I nuts?
No, I mean, plus if they're at like the two or three,
they could push twice in it.
They just push twice and do it.
So.
You started on the first down.
Yep.
Yeah.
So, yeah, don't hate that at all.
I mean, they get anywhere near the goal line.
Hertz is going to score.
So, yeah, I don't hate that.
What about him as a runner?
Because the one thing, you know, we were like Lamar a year ago, not running on them.
Partly it was the coordinator as well.
Josh has had a lot of success running on them.
Jalen is not exactly apples to apples to those two guys running, but he is a really good runner.
You know, do you think that, you know, his over under rushing guards, if you can get him 50, 60 yards,
or is that not really how they want to pull out?
Yeah, I don't know how they're going to play like the read option.
Are they going to just try to take away Barclay?
And then in that case, that could open up some opportunities for Hertz.
But I also don't know if he's fully healthy.
Like last week you could tell running straight ahead, he's fine.
But lateral movement, he might still be maybe a little limited,
maybe a little hesitant.
So maybe that just maybe takes.
away some designed runs. Maybe it just doesn't lead to as many big runs. So the health uncertainty,
like he's clearly helping up a play will look fine, but from a running perspective, it might
impact him a bit. It's a bad uncertain, but he's at two weeks off. So I had too much uncertainty
for me to get involved there. I assume that the chiefs are going to focus on taking away
Barkley on early downs. And teams that have done that at the playoffs, they've bottled him up
for long stretches, it's been the long runs that have just killed of the other teams.
Like, he's just from an efficiency standpoint.
And look, the Eagles have not faced a hard schedule opposing defenses this year.
And even in the playoffs, like the Rams, the Packers, the commanders, these aren't great defenses.
Can, can what impact can Barclay have, assuming the chiefs are going to, you know, load the box and try to take him away on early downs?
And then you're in late-down situations where spags keying the pressure,
Hertz tends to hold the ball too long.
That's not the reason why I do like God or two is blitz.
You've got to get rid of the ball quick here.
But, yeah, I tend to think Barclay's numbers are all inflated.
Like, I would lead under on a lot of his numbers because, one,
I think the chiefs are going to focus on him.
It's still a pretty good defense.
I do think their defense is a bit overrated overall.
People view it.
They face a lot of things.
teams of injuries this year. And if you look at what the
Bills did, the Texans even had success
running on them. But
they're a good tackling team.
You know, that first run for Barclay
where I think Chin, it was
like, what is going on here?
Yeah, that won't happen against the cheese. I would say all
11 guys, specifically the DBSs,
McDuffie, Reed,
I mean, they tackle well.
So he's not just going to have some
seven-yard run turned into 40 because
two guys fucking chicken wing it, you know?
Yep. So yeah, I don't mind his
under rushing yards.
Chiefs are going to be focused on it.
I don't think they're going to give up.
These met in long runs, like you said,
great tackling team.
And then again,
just the point I just made
is the Eagles are used to playing from ahead
all year, right?
They're usually playing from ahead
and then Barclay just gets a ton of carries
against weak defenses.
Well, now, as an underdog
and against the chiefs,
you're more likely to be playing from behind
or you're going to have to throw,
you're playing a defense that's focused on.
And like I just said, the Eagles are now playing their counterpart in time of possession, right?
They're not used to playing the team like the Chiefs that will just, the Chiefs have no explosiveness on their offense, right?
They might have an explosive by year, too, but they're one of the least explosive offenses in the NFL.
And the Eagles don't give up any explosive plays.
That is one of their strengths.
They keep everything in front of them.
They're the number one explosive pasty in the NFL.
So what does that mean?
That means it's Mahomes doing what they've done all year.
It's methodically moving the ball down the field.
What does that mean?
The Eagles and Barclay are on the sidelines for long stretches.
And everyone wants to bet the Barclay over.
So I think the Barclay numbers are all inflated.
It's tough to figure out which one to go with because if you go under rush attempts,
I think Yards is just the best way to go.
because I think rush attempts is too high.
Same with longest rush.
But if he breaks a long run,
then, you know, obviously he goes over longest rush.
And then that'll help under rushing attempts
because then it's just taking away a huge part of the field
where we'd have had carries.
But if he doesn't go over his longest rush,
that means he might get more carry.
So, yeah, I think the best way to go
is just under rushing yards total.
on Barclay. I think that number is like 10, 15 yards too high. And if he breaks 70-yard run,
you tip your cap. But yeah, the Chiefs could have the ball a ton here. Eagles might have to pass
more than they have all year. I mean, this is a team that's just been, and their elite as a front-runner,
but they're not playing the Chiefs every week. So I don't mind the Barclay unders as scary as they
are and sound after what he's done this year. You know, if you go to the Texans game where they
got two high-end rushers.
They only sacked him three times, but I thought early in that game, they were just causing
havoc.
You know, the one thing with the Eagles is their defensive line.
I mean, has really come on in the second half of the season in the playoffs.
I mean, Carter, I mean, you could make the argument, you know, just talent-wise, like a top-10
player non-quarterback in the NFL.
Nolan Smith, too, he's coming along.
Nolan Smith, yeah.
I mean, William's, Milton Williams is a free agent.
You got, they just got a lot of people, right?
And that's, to me, one thing that Fangio, like his baby has always been dominating the line, like with his good defenses, like his front just plays to another level, especially at big games.
So if the chiefs are going to lose, you go, well, what's the formula?
It would be, well, what was their formula to lose the last Super Bowl?
Their offensive line kind of got manhandled.
Now, you know, both their tackles, right, had torn Achilles or I forget the exact injuries, but we're out.
back-up offensive line. They were fucked.
Yeah. This isn't quite that situation, but clearly, I mean, if Andy Reid was true serum,
I mean, like, yeah, our offensive line needs to be a lot better moving forward. That's going to be
a point of emphasis for them this offseason, I'm sure. So you go, if they're going to lose,
like, you can get a lot of plus numbers. Jalen Carter to get a sack plus 131. Just
sweat to get a sack plus 150. Nolan Smith to get a sack plus 112. Like, they're going
to get a couple sack. They're going to get them because the one thing is Mahalms likes to make
plays. He likes to hold the ball a little bit. He's usually unlike some of these other guys.
he pulls it off. Sometimes Jalen like just stops and takes a sack like Mahomes kind of weasles away.
But these guys are such freaks. It's just sometimes it's hard. And Jalen, to me, one of the plays,
especially like you said, moving, you know, doing out to left tackle, like he's just going to be
over that guard sometimes. And it's not like Joe can help him out because he's got to worry
about whoever's over him. And he just, one of those plays, the guy's just going to fucking whiff on
him. And the 6-5-320-pounder, Patrick just not going to be able to run away.
I think him getting a sack feels like a lock in this game.
Yeah, he's going to have favorable matchups,
and Mahomes' sack numbers,
pressure to sack rich has gone up this year,
and the Eagles can cover on the back end.
I think he's, I think, destined to make a big play here.
I also, Chris Jones feels like he's probably going to get a sack too.
Yeah, I agree.
Like, Hertz holds the ball forever.
I know there's going to be a lot of attention on them,
but we don't even know how healthy the interior of the Eagles' offensive line is.
I assume everyone's going to play,
but dealing with some injuries,
so maybe that shows up as well.
But Hertz is, I mean, you look, no one has held the ball longer.
Actually, Deshaun Watson, that was it.
But as far as quarterbacks who ended the years of starter,
Hertz holds a ball a ton.
And going up against Spags and with this game script,
they might be behind, might have to throw more.
Feels like Chris Jones.
Re-injure potential, too, you know, with the back and a knee, like one of those,
whoever is out there, all of a sudden, Jurgens' backs tightening it up, Dickerson's
knees, you know, okay, I'm feeling good pregame.
Then all of a sudden Chris Jones hits him.
He's like, oh, shit, I can't walk.
One of those two guys has that written all over him, doesn't it?
Yep.
Yeah, and that's like, you have really good tackles.
You can maybe neutralize the edge rush for Kansas City.
but with the blitzes and pressures that Spaggs is going to draw up,
I can see Jones getting home on Hertz, if not once,
but maybe even twice.
One of my flyers, and for me on this,
is, you know, forever, it's only improved over the years,
is Andy off a by.
I mean, he's truly one of the great offensive minds of the history of the game.
Chief's first drive touchdown plus 195.
I mean, this is, it's been so long and he's become a legend since.
But this is still the team that fired him.
You know, I mean, listen, we're all human beings.
I know he's friends with Howie, he's friends with Jeffrey Lurie and, you know, the Eagles put him on the map and everything.
They still fired him.
So I just think that he's always motivated with the extra time.
It's been a point of difference for him over his career.
This is the Super Bowl. He's a bright lights guy. Kelsey going out. He's got Mahomes.
I just think Chief's first drive, you know, who knows? Maybe some trick plays. All of a sudden, it's like, oh, yeah, Andy told us he stole this one from the 1957 Army Navy game.
You know, he's not just holding that till the third. You never know. It could be like the second play of the game.
I just, this guy's, he's, he's ringing it, you know. This isn't Kellyn Moore like Afnas, Siriani and Howie. Like, are we cool?
if we do this? Like anything he wants to do, he can do. And he's got three guys on his staff
looking over tape for the last hundred years. You know, they like to, they had practice this morning.
I'm sure they have some crazy play just to keep the guys fresh. It's like a classic Andy move.
I just, that first drive at almost two to one to score a touchdown feels pretty tasty.
And what are the chiefs? A bright light scene. What do they do against your squad last year,
against the bills this year.
It's like they fucking just,
if they do come ready,
it might slow down after the first drive
because they're so hyped up for it
and then all of a sudden it's like 10-7
going into halftime.
But I can see that first drive
and you have some tricks up a sleeve.
Yeah, I don't hate your reasoning at all.
I will be rooting against it
because I have the Eagles first half
and I want to bet the Chiefs live.
For my long shot,
that I'll give it.
By the way, you hit one of the great, I mean, last year, 14 to 1 on overtime.
Yeah, and almost 100 to 1 double over time.
It was truly special.
One play away, I watched the play clock.
It was one second away from then being able to run it down to go to second overtime.
So when Mahomes threw the touchdown, there was only one second left in the first quarter?
No, in the first overtime.
So I had 100 to 1 to go double overtime.
and there was under a minute to go
and there was like 42 seconds
there was like 54 seconds
Oh gotcha got you
They completed a pass
And there was 41 seconds left
When they spotted the ball
So the play clock was a 40
Which means they had to run another play
So if it was another second
There's a chance that they
They would have said
Let's talk about this play
Take a deep breath
Yeah
And like
he just snapped he just snapped the ball of like 20 or 30 yeah 30 20 seconds but there was a chance that
maybe they just ran it down and like let's let's talk about the play I was watching the clock so
intently and it went 41 and I was like no would that have been the greatest hit of your life
100 to 1 it doesn't get much better than that yeah I had 120 to one tennis a tennis future
marron chillich at the US Open like 12 years ago or something um but yeah that would have
up there.
For MVP, it's hard.
I mean, it's a quarterback award.
Obviously, like, Barclay has a better chance than a running back usually would because
of how important he is and what kind of season he's had.
I think Kelsey, obviously, because just the narrative and he hasn't won it and he could
have a big day.
But if you look back...
I think like nine out of 57 defensive players have won the MVP.
And the last one was, did Donald?
win the MVP when the Rams want it.
The
or Stafford.
No, that was Cup.
Oh, yeah.
The last
the last defender
to win it might have been
let's see, since 2000
the defenders to win it were
what Malcolm Brown
Dexter Jackson
won it for the box.
Multiple pick sixes, yeah.
Von Miller, I think, was the last one in 2016.
I was there.
Yeah, Malcolm Smith, Von Miller,
Dexter Jackson, Ray Lewis, too.
I think those are the defenders that have won it.
So it hasn't happened in a while.
Yeah.
So maybe there's a defensive line that could win it.
But if you look, since Von Miller won it,
you know, Brady, Foles, Mahomes, Mahomes, Mahomes.
The only other non-quarterbacks to win,
are receivers
Edelman and Cup
So
You have to have just a high volume game
You need to score touchdowns
Alfrov Xavier Worthy 30 to 1
Like is there a way that
A game where he has like eight or nine catches
A touchdown or two
And if he has like a big rush
With a rushing touchdown
Like I could see worthy having
An Edelman
or cup type of game.
And does it still probably go to my homes?
Probably, but that's why you can get 30, 35 to 1.
So that's my long shot that I'll throw out for this year,
savior worthy MVP.
What would it take for a defensive player to get it, do you think?
Vaughan had multiple sacks and a force fumble, right?
Probably score.
And you need it to be like a lower scoring game.
Like could Zach Bond with like 11 tackles and a pick six?
Get it?
Yeah, but it's hard for me to imagine the chief's just like not scoring enough.
Yeah.
So like that would mean the Eagles have to score more.
That's true.
And who's getting it.
But you would need just like a weird distribution.
It's, it would be tough.
Yeah, you would need like a defender to score.
I have a huge day.
and it being, be a low-scoring game.
So, yeah, it's, it's tough for me to see a defensive player winning it in this particular game.
But you never know.
I saw, I saw, I think I had an NFL network on and they were showing some highlights of the Bucks Raiders.
Maybe it was a YouTube, I forget, but, God, that game was terrible.
That was awful.
I mean, Rich, Rich was just throwing pick after pick after pick after pick.
I mean, it was, one point in time, it was like 48 to 20.
I mean, it was rough.
That was amazing that a defensive player won it in a game that was 48 to 21 final.
And a defensive player won it.
That's an anomaly.
I mean, like, because if you look what happened, Brad Johnson was 18 to 34, 200 yards,
two touchdowns and interception.
Like, you're not going to give it to him.
Pitman ran the ball 30 times.
for 120 yards, no touchdowns.
So you're not going to give it to him.
Keenan McArdle,
he scored two touchdowns for the bucks,
but he had two catches for 13 yards.
Their other leading receiver was Joe Jaravishis.
He had four catches, 70 yards, no touchdowns.
It's like, who are you giving it to?
Right?
Like, they scored 48 points,
so it just all worked out that way.
Like, that's how you would need a defensive,
either a really low-scoring game
or just like no one stuck out.
offensively for you.
I feel like teams like that
won't even exist anymore.
Like those back to back, like the Ravens,
bucks versus like Dilfer, Brad Johnson,
random offensive guys, but just an all-time
defense. I just don't think we're getting those
that used to happen a lot.
Yeah, it's a different
game now.
Which is why since
2016, we've only
seen quarterbacks and wide receivers
win it.
So,
And that, when Von Miller won it, that was,
the Broncos won 24 to 10.
Peyton couldn't throw after the first drive.
Peyton Manning was 13 of 23 for 140 yards, no touchdowns and interception.
The final score was 24 to 10.
You know, C.J. Anderson had 23 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Like, is that MVP worthy?
Not really.
And then their leading receiver, Manuel Sanders,
had six catches for 83 yards.
Maybe if you got a touchdown, he could have won it.
But that's how a defender won it.
And having Von Miller at two and a half sacks, six total, six total tackles,
24-10, no offensive standouts.
He's a household name.
That's how a defender won it.
But hard to see in this game.
That's probably the last great defense.
And I saw that team play a lot.
a bunch. I mean, they were just, they had four high-end D-linemen. All their linebackers were good,
and their D-Bs were sweet. And even back then, like in 15, 16, 17, you could still kind of hit.
You know, like, Akeep T.J. Ward would fucking rock your socks off. You know, you can't really
play like that. So it's like they could cover. And if you went across the middle, you get decapitated.
It's like the, you can still build a good defensive line. It's just harder to build the secondary
which the Ravens, you know, the bucks definitely had where you would just get, you might go to, you know, the hospital, you know, so it's like this is much easier to throw it out.
So much harder.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, uh, well, it's sad, sucky.
Uh, we just got one more football game and you got college basketball.
So, uh, and any plugs for a team that you like that's flying a little under the radar?
I saw Gonzaga.
They just lose to St. Mary's.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They keep thoroughly.
Oh, and seven.
games decided by six points or less this year.
They cannot close out a game.
It's a major problem for them.
I think Texas Tech is legit.
We told them just win at Houston.
Do you want to take a flyer in them?
You can get them like 8 to 1 to make the final four
if you want to get crazy to win the national title.
I also like Illinois, Texas A&M is some flyers to make the final four.
Not super long shots, but not at the top of the board.
So, yeah, those are some of the teams that throw out.

we had three podcasts a week

That's Stucky 2 on X.
But it was a pleasure
do it going through another season with your brother
and can't wait until hopefully do it again next year
starting in August. It can't come soon enough.
I'm already ready.
Start the counting.
Don't be wrong.
I like free agency in the draft, but I'd much rather have games on Saturday and Sunday.
Absolutely.
Okay, Stucky, take it easy, bro.
I'll talk to you soon.
Cheers, Bo.
The volume.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Nice.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We get to ask people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick, tired and sick.

Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
Is everyone lying to me about who they are?
I felt such desperation.
I felt it was what I had to do.
