Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.

That is not the look of an innocent man.
Is everyone lying to me about who they are?
I felt such desperation.
I felt it was what I had to do.

The volume.
What is going on, everybody,
John Middilkoff, three and out podcast.
Hope everyone is doing well out there
in the real world,
in the streets,
avoiding head colds and getting sick.
A lot of people I know are sick.
It felt like it was coming on,
but my body has done a valiant job fighting it off.
We'll see if it holds over the course of the week.
But today I said,
you know what, let's do a mailbag.
Middlecoff at John Middlecoff is the Instagram.
Fire in those DMs.
We're hitting the offseason.
Free agencies right around the corner.
Fire in those DMs.
Get your questions answered here on the show.
Tomorrow we'll have a big guest on and probably some more football stuff as well.
Who knows?
Maybe mailbag as well.
At John Middlecoff is the only thing we're going to do today.
So fire in my DMs questions and get your questions answered here on the show.
You guys know the drill.
Subscribe to the three and out podcast.
you listen on Collins feed, all of our video is up on this little site called Netflix.
It's an app. I don't know if you ever heard of it, but all of our video up on Netflix.
Appreciate everyone that went and check that out, watch there.
And I think we're doing pretty good.
So we'll just keep firing.
And let's talk some football.
You know, there was, David Montgomery was traded today to the running back for the Detroit Lions,
was traded to the Houston, Texas, which I like to pick up.
I think everyone's kind of waiting right now on some news.
One thing Howie and SpyTech are doing a pretty good job of, at least by the time you're listening to this, it may, there may be some stories.
But there haven't been like, you know, Howie has two offers on the table for a first and a third.
SpyTech, the best offer he has so far right now is the first, a second, and a fourth.
There hasn't really been any of that with Max Crosby and AJ Brown, which all signs point to, I think those guys getting traded.
but it's, they did a pretty good job of keeping under wraps,
which I think shows you, you know, this notion I was wrong about this,
and this is what I found out of the combine.
He goes like AJ Brown, a lot.
Internally, as a player, like he, they don't view him as some problem child.
Now, he's emotional, but it's not viewed this notion of like,
they're all on the one guy's side.
They got a lot of love for AJ Brown.
So if you're going to want AJ Brown to be on your football team,
it is going to be an expensive endeavor to trade for them.
I think Albert Breer wrote today in his SI article that like,
if you're going to get AJ Brown, they ain't giving them away.
And I originally, where I was wrong, I thought, well, it'll be like a third round pick.
No, they would never trade him for a third round pick.
They trade him for a first guy.
I mean, they traded a first forum.
So it's basically be like, you got to use AJ Brown, win a Super Bowl,
and they get rid of them for the same price.
Okay, let's start with Gene.
Absolutely love the pod.
I appreciate it.
Keep out the good work with Jack.
Need some words of encouragement of it.
He's got the sniffles today, so it's been rough.
We'll probably talk about that in the dad diaries.
Maybe I'll do the dad diaries in the middle of this mailbag.
On the Super Bowl, I think the players that win it get 188K,
and the losers get a 133K.
Shares are pittance compared to the financially normity in the Super Bowl.
The players and the teams are the main attraction
and the NFL puts out zero money for the halftime show.
Your thoughts.
The halftime show, what you get in return has proven to be well worth doing 15, 20 minutes.
I don't know, isn't even that long for any artist, whatever genre you're in.
It is well worth it to do that thing for free because of the amount of people that watch you.
Now, the players, I remember Richard Sherman telling me this before when he was still playing.
We were DMing.
and he was part of, you know, the player union group that was negotiating against the owners.
And one thing was, we were talking about the playoff salaries.
If you're a player, you're making 20 million or 30 million or hell, 10 million,
you make, you take a huge pay cut in the playoffs.
Yet we see these playoff ratings, 25, 30, 40 million people watch the first round.
By the time we get to the championship games,
You have 50 million people watching.
So you could argue they are getting completely scammed on the playoffs.
Now, a little bit like the halftime show, you get value as a player from the playoffs, right?
Turned out my, it's a little hot in here.
It's like 90 degrees a day.
Is if you win in January, you up the value of yourself as a player.
But you are still taking a calculated risk because if you're,
get injured in the second round of the playoffs and your contract is up or you don't have any
guaranteed money, like you're kind of shit out of luck. You're taking risks that other guys that
are at home are just simply not taking. So I've thought this for a long time, how the players
union doesn't fight for more money in these playoff games where like you said, they are worth
a ton of money. Congrats on all the new success. Do you think the new blueprint of a successful
Super Bowl winning team is quarterback on a discounted rookie contract with a great defense.
It seems over the last few years, this has been the trend and the best way to go about
building a contender.
The Chiefs are outliers, but they paid everybody.
Now the defense and the offense is not strong.
So the question is really, will teams continue to pay $60 million a year to a quarterback
or trade and try to find one every four years?
whenever you have a top guy, you're never going to trade him.
I think the problem teams have made is paying, like, Tua's making $55 million this year.
Like, that is, I don't even know the proper adjective to describe how crazy that is.
I mean, that's, even when he was decent a couple years ago,
it's like he should have been relative to the other quarterbacks.
Why do you get to match the previous quarterbacks?
Like, if Josh Allen signs, if Lamar signs, if Herbert signs, if Herbert signs,
signs, if some of these guys, if Dac Prescott signs, why does Tua get to match them?
Okay, you sign.
Like, why do you get to make a percentage of what they made, you know, in terms of like one to one?
Why not like, yeah, you probably, you know, they're making 45, 50, we'll offer you 22.
Whatever happened to that world.
It happens in basically every other industry, but for whatever reason with quarterbacks,
it not only stopped happening
that these contracts got way out of whack
that you see this Kyler and Tua situation
that are complete anchors and disasters
for their franchises.
So listen, you got to sign a quarterback
when he's good on your own team.
But like the Texans,
they're not giving CJ Stroud a contract extension
this offseason because they don't know
if he's good enough.
Now, next year, if he proves it,
maybe next offseason, but like,
what about playing it out?
Pick him his fifth year option.
What's the impatience by all these teams?
I don't understand the lack of patience with these quarterback contracts.
I never have and never will.
You have nothing but patience with every other position.
You know, with quarterback, it's like, oh, Kyler Murray three years in the league, give him $150 million.
Like, are we sure?
Has he ever won a playoff game?
No.
Has he ever won the division?
No.
He had like a great 10 games.
Great would be strong.
You had a good 10 game stretch.
And think how crazy that is.
Because Tua threw some touchdowns in September and October.
I just think it's bad business.
It's just bad business.
What about Al Davis?
On Colin's show, I heard you talk about Howie and Schneider
have gone to the Super Bowl with different coaches and quarterback combos.
But you forgot to mention Al Davis.
And he did it with four different coach and quarterback combos.
Maybe well before my time, but he's only got three Super Bowls.
right? He's got the one with Madden in the 70s.
He's got one with Plunkett and one with Flores.
Or were they both with Plunkett?
A little before my time, born 84.
I know Plunkett was, would they win 82 and 87 or something?
I don't know. I'm a little out of it.
But I thought it was Plunkett the quarterback for both?
Could be wrong on that one.
Also, I just, Howie and John Snyder are the GMs.
I mean, Al Davis owned the team.
So, I hear what you're saying.
To me, Al's comp is like Jerry Jones or Paul Brown.
Like, he was the owner, coached a little bit, personnel guy.
I wouldn't compare Al Davis to Howie Rose me.
Al Davis signed the checks.
Howie doesn't sign the checks.
Jeffrey does.
So I hear what you're saying, but I don't think it's like an apples-d apples comparison.
Hear me out.
why is Nick Siriani
criticizing
Why is Nick Siriana
criticized but Harbaugh celebrated
Both have had elite GMs
Great players picked by those GMs
Elite coordinators, great ownership
but Nick is always laughed at
and John is celebrated
It's a great question
I mean I think there's a branding thing with the Harbaas
When you look and think and talk about the Harbaas
You think kind of football royalty
so I think that's part of it
I think John has done it longer
John's had multiple GMs technically
because Ozzy retired and he's had DeCosta for a while
I tried to talk to DeCosta but he's a little cold
I didn't really have many ends or a way to start conversation
and as someone told me he's not a huge bullshitter
and we didn't bullshit there wasn't really any
I just tried to start a conversation
like Casario who's pretty serious too easy to talk to
DeCasta was not
which he's a good GM
I mean he knows what he's doing
so I don't know
that's a great question
Siriotti's done it a lot
like I mean Harbaugh coach for 18 years
if Siriani goes on to have his career
for 18 years with the Philadelphia Eagles
he will get as the kids would say
mad flowers
but I think that's part of it
the branding thing if his name was Nick Harbaugh
and he was like the stepbrother
of those guys Jack had like some
you know, some affair and had Nick in Ohio, like in the 80s.
I think we would probably discuss him differently.
I think that's fair.
Congrats on your baby boy.
Welcome to the old dad's club.
I'm 40 with a 2-year-old of my own.
We're not old now, but when our boys are in middle school, we'll be in our 50s.
And you know he'll have a classmate with a 30-year-old dad,
but it'll be a deadbeat with a neck tattoo.
I'm not worried about that guy,
But there'll also be a 33-year-old good-looking dad with his shit together making seven figures.
Fuck that dude.
You know what's funny is I don't necessarily think like age in relation to my kid.
In the sense of like I don't feel I have more energy now than I did at 28.
I'm more willing to spend time and do things with family that I would not have been at that age.
Like I was not equipped to have a kid in my 20s or even the most.
majority of my 30s. I probably could have had a kid starting around 35, 36. But before that,
I would have been a complete disaster. There would have been an auto divorce. There would have been
an auto. It would not have worked. And it would have been a shitty spot for the kid. So maybe some of you
guys are more mature. We all have different past in life. But like I am completely unfazed,
you know, about age when it comes to my kid. I'm an energetic motherfucker. So I, you know, I got no worries
about my age.
But I hear what you're saying.
Anyways, my question for the bag
is why don't we see more tag and trades?
Most teams don't use their franchise tag
and let solid players walk for nothing.
I feel like it used to happen a lot more.
Because I think if you tag a guy,
one, if I tag a guy,
I haven't even seen all the concrete tag numbers,
but if I tag a guy for $30 million.
That first day of free agency,
$30 million, I have to take a guy,
have salary cap space for $30 million.
So if I'm going to tag a guy, I have to be prepared to keep the player.
Right?
So it's not really a mechanism.
I'm recording this 12 hours before the franchise tag deadline.
I guess you could trade the player over the course of the next week before free agency.
That assumes that he signs his franchise tender.
But I think it's gotten really complicated with the size of the contracts.
Would be my guess.
I think Howie, those type guys
would have more of like a concrete
thought out answer
but my kind of macro view
is once I tag a guy
more than likely I'm keeping them
because I have a lot of the cap space
which is really really big
even Kyle Pitts
George Pickens
like you play on a fully guaranteed
one year salary. Pits is cheaper than Pickens
which is kind of crazy
They're kind of similar players based on last year.
I know they're different positions, but like,
Pitts is cheap because of the position he plays.
But if you franchise tag a tackle or a guard, you know, or a pass rush,
they're pretty expensive.
And obviously, quarterbacks.
It's why the Daniel Jones situation is kind of interesting.
Question on something Greg Cosell said.
No disrespect to this guy.
He seems like he definitely knows what he's talking about.
But saying Amin Ra does not compare to cheap.
Chase or Jefferson is something I can't let slide.
And the type of toughness that he plays with is something you can't teach.
But not only that, the great run after catch and route runner.
I don't know what is your opinion.
Also, do you think Mackay Lemon is a top 10 kind of prospect?
If you were doing a draft with the 32 GMs and there were three wide receivers,
and it was Jefferson, Chase, and Amin Ross A. Brown.
I think Jefferson and Chase would be a little in the eye of beholder.
Some guys would like Jefferson.
Some guys would like Chase.
I probably prefer Chase.
But talking to Jefferson at the Super Bowl, I mean, he's a pretty impressive guy.
Chase's his physicalities, you know, in the prime of his career is pretty unique.
I mean, and I bet on him on some props and some games he's come through.
But they're both elite players.
I think Amin Ra would be last in all 32, James.
but whoever got Amin Ra in that like would not be disappointed.
So I don't think he's viewed as good as those guys, but what he brings to the table,
toughness, leadership, like you said, run after the catch.
I mean, he's basically like the team leader.
Or one of them for the Lions.
So yeah, I have, I don't think you're wrong in what you're being offended.
I'm sure you're a Lions fan, but, or maybe a USC fan.
but he's not wrong.
Greg is it when he says those guys are better
than Amman Ross St. Brown.
But I'm in Ross St. Brown,
when his career's over,
his statistical sheet is going to look like
fucking Jerry Rice.
I mean, how many balls does he catch every year?
So I hear what you're saying.
The Mackay,
I had some people say that they didn't think it was like a top 20,
top 25 player.
So I know there's some stuff going around.
I haven't personally heard about his interviews.
You know,
there was the one clip of him talking,
to the media, which was a little weird.
I don't know if he looked high or something,
but he's definitely going to be,
some people are going to like him and some people are going to not like him.
And when you compare to Aminraa,
and when you compare to Puka Nakula,
those guys weren't top 20 picks.
So part of like what makes them so special
is like where their teams got them,
which kind of complicates the matter.
I think this wide receiver class is kind of viewed as average at best.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
but this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
We were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast,
people could call in and say,
hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad
Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
man, he running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad,
but secretly, he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree.
At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy.
But I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No.
I didn't want to manifest that.
I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has...
has been living a double life.
That is not the look of an innocent man.
This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever
because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue.
Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What up? Love the Pod.
Been listening for years.
Totally random.
But I heard you mentioned peptides in one of your pods.
not long ago. I just started taking this one called
Reta Churotide and holy shit, it's a game changer.
Yeah, I officially started taking them today.
So I got one like a part of it is, I feel like I got fat.
You know, I gain like probably 20 pounds over the course of the last several years.
Now, some of that is my diet is not ideal.
But I work out, I mean, I would say most weeks, seven days a week.
and part of it as you get older
it's just
your body I don't know
it dramatically changes
and then I had buddies
my brother included that
use these things
and I'm like this is incredible
so I was like
listen I don't necessarily want to take a shot
every day
so I went to this clinic
where I got the allergy test
the food allergy test
and they have dissolvables
for your mouth
so I have one that's like
for your gut health
and skin
and just kind of body.
And then another one that's more like muscle slash fat burning one.
I don't have them.
They're in my in the house.
But I'm fired up because Jackson talked to McAfee.
McAfee talks about this.
Like he loves them.
People live by him.
Everyone I know that uses them looks fantastic.
I'm not a GLP one guy.
I don't necessarily need GLP ones.
But I just need to tighten up because it's not it's not like I'm
don't work out. I work out all the time.
And I feel like my
improvement in the gym just stopped
and I just got to dial
in more of the diet. That's going to be
a huge point of emphasis
the rest of 2006.
Because you can't outrun a bad diet,
especially when you're a guy in his early
40s white guy.
The Raiders are now moving to a 3-4
base defense. While I like the move
to a 3-4 because I feel like guys
like Tyree Wilson could be naturally moved
to a big 3-4 end and
Malcolm Coons may be a great outside edge, I feel like this move gets us away from Crosby.
I don't see Crosby's success as a 3-4 end.
And while he's explosive when standing up, I don't think he has the hips for an outside
linebacker in the 3-4.
Could the Raiders have hired Crosby's buddy as the new D.C.
Only for him to implement a defense that is not in Crosby's best interest.
Is his time in Vegas really done?
would expect him to be traded.
And I'm adamant. I think they get two ones for Max Crosby because of the amount of people
bidding on him. But could Max Crosby play in a 3-4 defense? I believe he could. He's not a
three-four end. I think he would be a stand-up pass rusher. I think he could be good. I mean,
James Harrison is exactly Vaughn Miller bending the edge. Amad Brooks, you know, when he played
for the 49ers, like he, Max Crosby would be good in any defense. But my expectation over the
course of the next six, seven, eight days is Max Crosby is
unofficially traded. So, yeah, I didn't see, honestly, I didn't even know they were running a
three, four defense. I think what the Raiders are going to need to do is go all in on offense,
the offensive line, the quarterback, and then figure out the defense with time and cap space.
I mean, they made that move. It wasn't their fault when they signed Christian Wilkins.
And then he messed up his knee and he was never the same. That hurt.
NFL draft question
How do you explain when draft analysts say things like
there are only 15 to 20 true first rounders
in the NFL class
when by definition 32 players
will go in the first round
isn't that kind of like complaining that houses in your neighborhood
are overpriced?
Even if you wouldn't pay that much
someone will that becomes the market price
I get that scouts grade players based on past drafts
or quote true talent
but at the end of the day draft value is like anything in business
it's worth what someone will pay.
So isn't this whole not enough first-round talent thing,
more of an NFL scouting snob take than in a market reality?
I think where you're missing the boat on the housing analogy,
let's say I've been a nice neighborhood.
And every house is between like two and a half and five million.
Well, your $5 million houses are going to be nicer, right?
Maybe it's a golf, golfing community.
Maybe your nicer houses are obviously bigger,
more modern on the golf course
and some of your other ones are not on the golf course
and maybe not as big.
Well, if I have $5 million to spend
on a house
and all the nice houses are taken
I would just wait.
I might not buy one of those
two and a half, three million dollar homes
if those are the only ones available.
Well, if you are the Baltimore Raven,
they're a bad example.
Let's use the 49ers.
And you're picking pick 27.
if you can't trade back or trade up, you have to make a selection.
So in your analogy of a market, you know, it's supply and demand.
Well, I have to make a pick.
Even though the guy I'm picking, I don't have a first round grade on.
That's what it means.
That in a given draft, there's 20 to 15 guys with first round grades.
But there are 32 selections.
And you have to select in the 20s.
Now, sometimes one of the guys that you have a first round grade on falls to you in the 20s,
but you don't have a choice.
There's no walkaway price.
If you have a widget supply and demand and you want me to pay X for it,
and I think it's worth why, we won't do a transaction.
If I want to sell you my computer and I say, here, $5,000 from my computer,
and you say, I'm only willing to spend $1,500 for your computer,
we would not do a deal
even though you need a computer
and you would just figure out and you'd find a place
to get a computer at the price you want to spend.
Well, if I'm at PIC 26,
I can't trade back
into the second round, I'm stuck making a selection.
So it's not apples to apples that way.
It's not, they're not being snobby.
They're simply just saying that on this given year, on average,
there are 19 players with first round grades.
so there are going to be guys
that get drafted
that are not viewed as
that are second round players
but you have to pay them a first round contract
like part of the power of the first round contract
is I get the fifth year option
and your contract's fully guaranteed
once you get past the first round
contracts aren't fully guaranteed for all four years
I hear what you're saying
but you're not
crazy or anything
it's just not snobby
They're just saying that there aren't 32 players.
Like, the Chiefs, when they took Clyde Edwards-Zalera,
they didn't have a first-round grade on them.
But they got to pick someone at 32.
Now, Simmons, last year,
when the Chiefs take them at 31,
they probably did have a first-run grade on.
So you just, you never know year-to-year.
I just watched Colin call the Cardinals a stinky pile of garbage
and said their ownership and franchise
is just as dysfunctional as the Browns Jets.
I do not follow the team and live on the East Coast
do you believe it's really bad in that building
If you're owner
One thing that's crazy to me in the NFL
Bashati'd probably be an outlier
Because he's buddies with some of these guys
But most owners don't spend that much time with the players
Hell, even spend that much time with the coaches
Owners are out of sight, out of mind
Just cashing them checks
For the cart, now
What happens in your building
is a reflection of the owner
but for the NFLPA grades that got leaked
Michael Bidwell got an F
do you know how shitty you have to be
it doesn't even have to be a football team
if you and I just work somewhere
and for most of those people that give them an F
I would imagine they don't have like some crazy relationship
with the guy
so you would be working a place
and you know who owns the company
and you say he's that
bad to give someone an F?
I think that speaks to everything you need to know.
Is they, the players think that poorly of the guy that owns the team that they gave him an F.
Like, that to me is very, very difficult to do.
C minus, like, you get a C minus.
I think you're kind of a loser as an owner.
At F?
Everyone's always said, listen, I've never dealt with the guy.
All of my life, they've been viewed as a chance.
cheap franchise. It's just kind of a clown operation.
I mean, if you're a Cardinal fan, you just pray to the day that he sells the team,
which doesn't feel like it's happening anytime soon.
Love the pot. I had a kid six months ago and absolutely lost it when you called the too many
clothes for Gazi. Rookie mistake. Somehow, they go through three outfits before noon.
It is, I used to think we had too many diapers. I used to think we had too many clothes.
little dad diaries right now while we're on the subject.
My extended family, so my brother-in-law, his wife, their child,
my mother-in-law all were here last week a little before I left and then when I was at the combine.
And I think their daughter was sick.
I came back sick.
Jack has the sniffles now.
And it sucks.
You know, and you don't realize, which makes sense once you're around a little infant.
They can't blow their nose.
So there is snot in his nose and he can't blow it.
So they make these tools like a suction cup type thing.
Well, the one we have is too big.
Like his nostril isn't big enough.
She also has this like plug-in electrical power one
that you put up his nose, press a button and it sucks.
You got to hold his head because, you know, he doesn't love it.
But this thing was just ripping snot out of his nose.
It was incredible to watch the amount
Because you can hear him
You feel so bad for him
He doesn't know how to do snot rockets
He just lost no man's land
I try to tell him
He doesn't speak English yet
So you can't tell him to breathe through his mouth
It's rough
And I got the saline thing you put over their face
And it like a miss
It's supposed to make
Clear him up a little bit
So we got all the devices going
But when you hear him just congested
you feel for the little guy
because there's nothing he can do
he doesn't know he can breathe out of his mouth
doesn't know how to blow his nose
doesn't know how to do a snot rocket
beside when he sneezes and he's on your shoulder
and then he got crap all over you
but
things you learn as a dad
my question
as a Chiefs fan living in KC
I stopped doubting Brett Beach
he's playing chess
while I'm yelling at the board
but I keep seeing
Jordan Love mock to us
you always say the draft is an economic value
exercise. So is the value actually there. I'd rather invest in the trenches, especially if
Bain is still on the board. Am I crazy? Love, really good. Love's really good. But he's not
Adrian Peterson. I don't think he's a franchise altering back. He's pretty good. I think there
would be a lot of people that would say he could be like an Adrian Peterson in terms of impact.
I don't think he's going to be there at 9. So we had this conversation yesterday when I talked
about Jeremiah Love, I would not expect him to be there at Pick 9.
So I think this conversation that's been going on for a while with the Chiefs actually take
a running back in the first round, I don't even think it's going to be an option.
I think it's possible that Jeremiah Love doesn't make it out of the top five.
Is there any world in which the Ravens would consider trading Lamar Jackson?
Say he indicates he wants to leave or the new contract negotiations are difficult.
Does three first round picks from the Jets
or the Raiders offering you their first pick
and the 26 Mendoza get your attention?
To me, the Raiders, you're so in with Mendoza,
the rookie contract, you hired Kubiak.
Like, you're just going that direction.
The Jets, the contract negotiations, I would imagine,
are going to be difficult.
Like, they have had difficult contract negotiations in the past.
And they don't have a choice, right,
because it was its cap number, like $72 million,
I would see no world in which Lamar Jackson is traded.
So my expectations would be,
they said it at the combine,
Lamar Jackson's not only going to be on the right,
he's going to get a contract extension.
Bushati said it the day that he fired Harbaugh.
It's just going to be interesting, what do they do?
Do they give them like a three-year contract extension worth like a $170 million?
Every penny guarantee.
Like, I don't exactly know the mechanisms and how they're going to do this.
But, you know, I think Jesse Minter took the job.
Like, they're going all in on Lamar.
I know it kind of went viral last week with the offensive coordinator saying,
because Lamar's been skipping OTAs.
I would imagine Lamar, part of this contract negotiations,
is, hey, we want you to be around in the spring,
which I totally don't blame them.
Like, I would rather be in Florida in the spring than Baltimore.
which I kind of never blame players. Wait, it's not mandatory.
And you're in a city that I don't want to be in, right, besides when we're playing.
So I'm at home training and I've proven that I'm good and going to be ready.
But, like, once you start losing, that that changes a little bit.
I would expect a multi-year deal worth a lot of money for Lamar Jackson.
What do you think would get a better TV rating?
A regular season NFL game, cheese first the bills,
Full pads, usual rules, but flag football, not tackle.
Or the NBA finals between the Spurs and Toronto.
I mean, that wouldn't even be close.
I don't think a casual sports fan could name one player in the Toronto Raptors.
Not one.
I think the...
One thing being at the Combine,
you know, my wife has really got me into Bravo and reality television.
Love is Blind on Netflix.
I feel like I've watched like the last four seasons,
which if you go on Love is Blind,
you either truly, and we've talked about this before,
like want to get famous,
or just pretty desperate.
Because, listen,
for whatever reason,
I'm not the best-looking guy.
I've never had that much trouble.
Getting to date.
I can't imagine going on Love is Blind
if my number one goal wasn't trying to, like,
gain followers and be famous.
Because some of these people are truly going,
going on to try to find love.
Like, you're not going to find love on love is blind.
But, like, that show,
I'm sure it does really good numbers for Netflix.
Right? And football,
all it's become now is a television show.
It's all about media when it comes to football.
They have done such a good job of making everything matter.
Like, what was the most important thing that happened in the Combine?
I'll tell you what it was.
all the coaches and GM's talking.
That was 100% the most important thing
because all those clips go viral.
It's a really big deal.
It's why the combine, even if it changes over the course of time,
that element of it will not.
If you're the NFL in the middle of February
or early March,
you want those guys making some headlines saying some shit.
It's why this league generates so much money.
There's interest.
And, you know, some of these guys haven't talked since December.
So the television aspect of this sport is no one could have envisioned that in the Al Davis, you know, Lamar Hunt way back in the day, Pete Roselle days.
I'm sorry, no chance.
What it has become, which is the amount of people there doing kind of what I do in the digital world that can run their own business.
or companies built around digital stuff around football
is pretty eye-opening.
Like, one takeaway I had,
like, if I ran a radio station and I went to that,
I'd be like, we're fucked.
We might as well double down and start a digital company
if we have some talent on the radio.
Because we got no shot to compete with these digital companies.
They are so fluid.
They can pivot at any moment.
And that's one takeaway I had from the Super Bowl.
and the, you know, they call it Radio Row.
It's, it's digital drive, is what I consider it.
And it's all because of this massive television show,
which is the National Football League.
All right, fellas, let's be real.
Buying men's jewelry used to be a nightmare.
It was low-quality junk that snapped after a week.
We've all been there.
That's why I rock with GLD.
They changed the game.
Many of you have participated as well.
You know that GLD uses.
real gold. None of that cheap stuff. Every single stone is meticulously handset. Plus,
their proprietary production process, make sure you're getting the highest quality jewelry

It's literally built to last that long for life.
GLD has official collabs with the NFL

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a podcast.
A pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey Jonas,
and then I wrote down in my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
why he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, I said,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad,
but secretly, he became a.
someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy
idea? It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No, I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success. Every family has a
its secrets. But what
happens when you discover that your dad
has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an
innocent man. This is going to
change my life and my family dynamic
forever because
everything that had existed
prior in my reality is
now untrue.
Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man

Question for the mailback. I'm always
intentional to listen to your show for your direct feed versus the same show distributed through
Cowards Feed because I assume it's better for you economically with how listeners and metrics
are used for your advertisement sales. Is this true or am wrong in your assumption?
I get credit for the listen no matter what. Obviously the Collins feed from a distribution standpoint
has changed the amount of people that have heard me. But in terms of economic,
We're all in business together.
So when we sell, you know, an ad to Hard Rock or to, you name the company, Reef, Reef makes fantastic shoes.
They sent me a couple free shoes.
They've been advertising.
You know, I've always had their sandals.
They send me a pair of sandals too.
But their tennis shoes were just like kind of nice, like all white shoe.
I wore it at the Combine.
I wore it the Super Bowl.
It looks good.
It feels good.
No free ads here.
But like it all goes into.
the same umbrella. I just put you to my feed because this all could end tomorrow.
Like, who knows? I'm not, you know, cocky and arrogant enough to think this just lasts forever.
That's not the way the world works. So, that feed is mine, the three and out feed.
So more people that are just subscribed there for the health of the business long term.
But in terms of the ad spend and the dollars, it's all under the same umbrella.
Any interest in doing a full mock draft?
doesn't have to be full in depth
or even a whole round one
could just be the top 10
either
I could do a top 10 one
as we get closer
I could definitely do a top 10 one
but it was like some of these
like random offensive linemen and safeties
like you just
the unknown in doing a mock draft right now
to me feels a little crazy
like we got a lot of moving parts
it's like that's who they're going to take
and pick 24
and then the Packers select Jordan Love.
I mean, that happens all the time players are taken that no one saw coming.
And that's what makes a draft so fun.
Like, I've never, I used to love mock drafts when I was a kid.
Since I've been doing this, I'm not the biggest mock draft guy.
Because I think it's, I understand why people click on it and it works.
But I just think it's like, you could do an educated guess in the top 10.
Once you get to like pick 15, like, you got no fuck.
fucking clue.
Was listening to the pod and you talked about Jack not sleeping.
It may sound crazy, but we started taking our boy to the chiropractor and it worked wonders.
Definitely worth a shot.
Our boy sleeps 9 to 11 hours with minimal waking up in the night.
I hear what you're saying.
You know, when they're at the age Jack is, he has to feed every three and a half hours.
So even if he is sleeping,
and he kind of gets up like clockwork, like if he eats at 11,
he will get up 12, 1, 2, 33 o'clock.
I'm ready to eat and have a bottle or the boob, you know, from the milk lady.
So, hey, milk lady, I need another round.
A milk lady, another round.
So that's, part of it is the sleeping element is he just naturally gets up.
And there are sometimes in the middle of the night when he's excited or whatever,
you know, the milk or maybe goes to the bathroom,
it's just hard to kind of calm them back down.
So it's just, it's a challenge.
And at the end of the day, like a six, seven week old,
you can attempt to get them on schedules and stuff.
But they kind of, they beat to their own drum a little bit in terms of the feeding.
And there's no, he couldn't even have eight straight hours if he wanted to do
because he has to eat multiple times in those eight hours.
Has to.
And one thing about Jack, when you're feeding him, he's got,
I would say minimum one
one gigantic diarrhea
potentially too
I mean no human being
I'm sure many of you would agree with this
it feels like no one can go through more diapers than this kid
I mean he goes through
I feel like thousands of diapers
and it's not like just a little P
I mean it's just constant
just explosions
I'm a bird's fan
but Andy Reid still has a soft spot in my heart
head coach from when I was a child
All these mock drafts have Reed and the Chiefs taking love at Notre Dame at 9.
You've said at previous pods,
in what world do the Chiefs not take a star edge like Bain or one of the offensive linemen?
Andy Reid's been taking lineman high forever.
When you look at what round was Shady McCoy was second round,
Brian Westbrook out of Villanova was the third round,
Jamal Charles who he inherited, who was freaking awesome.
If you don't remember Jamal Charles with Andy Reid,
you might want to just like 13, 14, 15.
Jamal Charles was sick.
He was a third round pick.
So I think a lot of the running backs that Andy has been around,
the value for that player has not been super high.
Even the last couple years,
Macheco was a seventh round pick.
Okay, last question.
We'll get out of here on a serious note.
And I'll go back to dealing with my crazy son.
Got more of a philosophical question for you.
I'm starting a new job and have some serious imposter syndrome going.
It's a big change from my current role in quite the pay bump,
as well as more responsibilities.
The role had over 100 applicants in Iowa selected.
Congratulations.
Have you ever had a hundred applicants?
imposter syndrome as part of your rise.
People act like I'm at the fucking top of the mountain.
I mean, I'm just a podcaster here.
You currently have and how do you deal with it?
I have been overwhelmed before.
And I have been nervous.
I heard actually a recent line that I thought would just anyone can relate to.
Is Scott Van Pelt.
I think I was listening to his podcast.
And he said, someone once asked Tiger Woods is,
why can't you ever hit the first fairway at the Masters?
Because I think Tiger notoriously was always in the right bunker
or he was always yanking the left.
He never hit the first fairway at the Masters,
which obviously he's won the Masters a bunch of times.
And he looked at whoever asked him the question,
he said, because I'm nervous as shit.
So the point is that Tiger Woods gets nervous.
Tom Brady, Josh Allen throws up before every game.
It's human nature.
And I can relate more to.
I don't think I've ever had imposter syndrome.
Like, I shouldn't be here.
I've always felt in the room I'm in, I belong.
Now, it doesn't mean I don't get nervous before that moment
or while I'm in there dealing with whoever your nerves are high.
But that's human nature.
Like, you clearly did something to earn the opportunity.
They offered 100 people.
You get big pay raise.
Like, they believe.
in what you did previously to earn this spot.
And you can make the argument as like,
is anyone truly ready for their role?
Probably not.
Yeah.
I bet if we Mike McDonald walked in here right now.
Like, were you ready?
That first couple months of being a head coach?
He had no chance.
A couple years later, you win Super Bowl.
No one expects you to be whatever your role is,
Warren Buffett, day one.
So I think the easiest way I know for me
is I'm a big, like, to-do guy.
I try to write out my tasks.
Like, I'm very visual that way.
I need to, like, check things off.
That's how I operate from a professional standpoint.
Like, I got these seven things to do.
You know, I do to-do lists wherever.
In my phone all the time.
And I just bang them out.
Like, if I have to do something, you know, in the morning.
So whatever your process is to help alleviate some of the stress.
But I can't, like, I've never felt like I shouldn't be here.
here. Now, if you like threw me on an NFL football field and said, hey, play linebacker.
Like, yeah, I'd have imposter syndrome. What is going on? But you're in a situation that clearly
you were chosen for for a reason. Now, are you going to be able to handle it or not? Who knows?
But you get better with experience. Take it day by day. I mean, all the cliche bullshit, but it's
true. Like, you can't think about like, what's it going to be like in a couple years?
It's like, hey, how am I going to handle this week? What am I going to?
going to do the next couple days to make this go.
And at the end of the day, right, the money thing,
it feels good at first whenever you get a quote-unquote big pay raise,
you start making more money.
But like, it's not,
unless I'm by no means some guy that like,
I'm still very worried about finances.
It does not change your life, honestly.
And if it does, then I can't.
really relate to you. Now, it definitely helps whatever you're doing for kids schools,
for buying homes, whatever. I'm not acting like money isn't important. And even if you're like,
I value, you know, ambitious people and driven people and people that want to make more money.
But then once you start, you just like go on with your day. You know, uh, so I would say just keep
your head down and start grinding and try to do a good job. And you're going to be nervous. That's
pretty normal and just
I don't know
it'll come with the territory. That's a good thing.
So good luck to you.
Volume.
