The Herd with Colin Cowherd - 3 & Out - Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins DEMOLISHED by Lamar Jackson, Ravens on TNF
Episode Date: October 31, 2025Former NFL scout John Middlekauff is reacting LIVE immediately following the Week 9 Thursday Night Football matchup between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens vs. Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolp...hins. John kicks off by reacting to Lamar Jackson's dominant performance on TNF and debates whether the Ravens were treating the 4th quarter of the game like a practice to get Jackson into rhythm for the stretch run of the NFL season. John then discusses whether the Dolphins will relieve head coach Mike McDaniel after this embarrassing loss as their playoff hopes become smaller. John then declares that Ravens are putting the Pittsburgh Steelers on notice in the AFC North. Next, John discusses who's inder the most pressure in Week 9: Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Minnesota Vikings QB JJ McCarthy, Buffalo Bills, or Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams. This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives,
helping people in need with thoughtful solutions.
Sike, I'm a comedian.
I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally
dubious advice known to me.
This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Listen to Help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.

The volume.
What is going on, everybody?
How are we doing?
Hopefully everyone is doing outstanding out there in the real world,
live in life, like Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins,
who just got bludgeoned on Thursday night football,
28 to 6 at home by the Baltimore Ravens,
who look like they're kind of on fire.
Win a couple games in four days.
Get Lamar back and Dominate.
He throws a bunch of touchdowns.
That was a bloodbath.
Now the question is, is Mike loses job?
And if the Pittsburgh Steelers win,
are the Ravens really going to win this division?
Rough night for Al Michaels.
And we'll hit on a couple other things.
It's Fugazi Friday.
So I get a couple of Fugazis.
One involves candy and the other involves a goat.
And we'll also do,
Stucky, he will be joining us
as he does every Friday, talk about the NFL,
talk about the league,
from a gambling perspective,
all of our bets, presented by Hard Rock.
And yeah, so we'll go over that.
We'll do a little college at the end,
but a lot of NFL.
Other than that, you guys know the drill,
subscribe to the podcast, wherever you may listen.
Also, if you're on YouTube,
which I know everyone is,
because I see the amount of people that watch YouTube,
make sure you subscribe.
Three and out, type in my name, subscribe.
You'll never miss anything.
We go live after all the
the primetime games, do content all throughout the week.
I got a migraine, an awful one the other.
I don't get, I get a couple of year.
And it was like, I was in shambles.
So I didn't do a podcast for record on Wednesday for Thursday.
So I recorded the mailbag today and we'll put one out this weekend.
So I'll probably put that out Saturday morning.
Get a little weekend mailback.
So I try to answer some of you guys' questions.
But first, you know, I got to tell you about my friends, my partners,
game time. Here's the thing. Do you guys want to go to a game? Do you guys want to go to a football game?
Do you want to go to a pro game? Do you want to go to a pro game? Do you want to go watch your team?
Well, there is not an app that makes it easier. You can find tickets for as low as $100.
When you see the prices on the app, that is the actual price. There's no adding the fees later.
That is the actual price. You will pay for the tickets. They got flash deals. You can search by the venue.
you can search by the team, obviously concerts, comedy shows, you name it.
It does not get any easier to go watch a football game.
So take the guesswork out of buying professional football tickets with GameTime.
Download the GameTime app, create an account and use the code, John for $20 off your first purchase.

John, that's J-O-H-N for $20 off, swipe, tap, ticket.
Go download the GameTime app today.
Okay, let's start with this game because I actually don't.
don't think there's much to take away from this game at all in terms of like on the field of place.
Lamar looked really good, dominated in the red zone. The Ravens definitely feel like they have
life. And the Miami Dolphins took that short-lived ass kicking that they gave and handed out
to the Atlanta Falcons feel like it was more than four days ago because I was like,
didn't that just happen? It was like, yeah, they were just up 31 to 3, literally, on Sunday afternoon.
It's on Thursday. But it does feel like they resorted right back, played
a real team playing the Ravens who obviously are playing for something and just got shellacked.
So to me, the simple question is, is it time? Should Mike McDaniel lose his job?
And listen, I would never feel comfortable saying a guy should or shouldn't, you know, have a job.
This is how people pay for their families. Feel less bad inside when you're talking about a guy making
$6, 7, $8 million who's clearly over his head. This team is falling apart.
and listen, it's not all his fault.
But I think if you're Stephen Ross, now's the time to blow this thing up.
Obviously, there has been speculation about does the GM have, you know, some dirty laundry on the guy
and makes it difficult to not, you know, relieve him of his duties?
But there's no way you could hire another coach with that guy at GM.
So if you're going to fire him, you got to fire him both.
And remember it kind of happened with Robert Sala and then Joe Douglas last year.
If I remember correctly, it was off a couple of.
weeks. To me, now's the time
to do it above. And the Miami
Dolphins, I think the big picture question mark
is, can this franchise be saved?
And I think there is one
consistent theme to this team.
And I think it's kind of like the Jets.
You know, the Jets and the Dolphins right
now are complete embarrassment.
Things constantly change. Coaches,
players, but one thing doesn't.
The ownership. And they showed Stephen
Ross tonight, looked like talking to a son or something.
This franchise
is just a joke.
I mean, it really is.
And the one thing that they are, like the Atlanta Falcons, like the New Orleans Saints,
they're in this southern world where college reigns supreme.
And most of the best programs beside Ohio State are located in that region.
And I've always wondered, theorize a little bit, is it hard to sustain when people care more about college football down there?
And I was thinking watching this tonight, is there a worse atmosphere in the entire league than
were Miami Dolphin
their home stadium.
Think about their division.
Like when the Patriots are rolling, that place is rocking,
obviously the bills are elite.
Even if the Jets were ever good, the New York fans.
I just don't think anyone cares.
And maybe it's just because they've been bad for a long time.
I guess they made the playoffs a couple years ago.
But down the stretch, they were not very fun to watch
in either one of those seasons.
They peaked early.
And there's just something about this franchise that seems off to me.
So even if I answer my own question,
so did they fire if I say, yeah?
Fire everybody in the building.
Who's taking this job?
Who are you getting?
Because to me, if you hire the next up-and-coming coordinator,
nothing's going to change.
I mean, that's what's been happening.
Mike McDaniel,
Adam Gase.
This is a job.
The only chance you have for success
and football survival would be to kind of get a crazy-ass veteran coach.
You're going to need to come in here and kind of drop the hammer.
because whatever has been happening down there
not only is not working,
it's an unwatchable product most weeks.
Obviously, the investment into Tua is a debacle.
I mean, he's not like some all-time scrub.
He's obviously a starting quarterback in the NFL,
but you can't win with that.
And then the way they built the team going back
with a bunch of little players,
and you watch them against the Ravens,
that look like, I want to say varsity,
say JV, I would say varsity versus like the Peewee team,
the junior high team,
So I think this is a type of situation of like,
you're going to need, ideally last year, Mike Vrable.
That's the type guy you need.
A no nonsense, no bullshit, hard discipline guy.
Because you keep going with these offensive, innovative,
up-and-coming coordinators, you got no shot.
And obviously you need a GM and people with a vision
to build a team down in the South Beach because it's clearly hard.
You have things going up against you, right?
I mean, from the weather to the women to the shit to do.
The bills have a huge, the Packers, they have massive advantages over you.
They can pay the same amount of money, but they don't have to worry about their guys Monday through Friday.
A lot less for them to do and screw up around.
And clearly there is a focus issue.
I mean, this is a situation.
I've been saying this about Thursday night games.
I don't really judge you on the outcome.
If you would have told me the Ravens won this game like 17 to 13, I'd be like, hey,
Short week on the road, congratulations, you move on.
There's one, there's no style points in the NFL, but there are definitely, I mean, it's October 30th.
We're in week eight, nine.
Like once you get midway through the season and on, a Thursday night road game is just a win and get out of there.
It's like college basketball, survive in advance.
Yet the Ravens came in, short week, now granted, the quarterback had some fresh legs, hadn't played,
came in and looked like this was game one.
So, listen, the dolphins, I was thinking like, could they go college?
It's like, well, even Lane Kiffin and Sark and Ryan Day, like, those guys are offensive guys.
Like, to me, this franchise probably needs a defensive guy.
I think the last time they had any success in the playoffs, wasn't it Dave Wonstett, defensive guy.
You know, Bill Parcells was there for a minute.
Tony Soprano.
I know he was an offensive.
offensive line coach, but the old school mentality.
I just don't think this innovative, soft, up-and-coming young guy, they have no chance.
I mean none.
So when you blow this thing up, listen, I've seen some of these rumors like Rex Ryan, for example.
And I'm not, I just use that name because it comes up.
But some of these, you know, Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers, like to me he would
be a guy, something like that.
But I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole, an offensive guy, and two, a, a,
first-time head coach.
Because whoever they hire, he could be the sexiest name, the next Kevin O'Connell,
the next, like you put Ben Johnson in Miami, I'd be out.
I'd be like, he's got no shot.
Zero.
None, zilch.
So I just think the dolphins are, you know, a franchise for older people that used to be
kind of just a legendary, you know, brand, right?
In the 70s, they were big time.
Obviously, with Dan Marino, they just mattered in the league.
And they just feel like they don't matter.
and they have no identity
and their coach is completely over his head
and this thing is just falling apart at the seams
and the GM drafted sign just terrible players
and even the good ones are like flawed players
and I just think you're seeing this thing fall apart
and it felt like the Ravens might have ended his tenure
so if Friday morning or this weekend
would not shock me at all.
And speaking of the Ravens,
I think the last four days they've kind of said the Steelers,
because listen, I was kind of out on them.
Because I'm like, Pittsburgh's going to get to like 11 wins.
And now I'm starting doing the math like, maybe they're not.
Maybe the Steelers are not winning.
Maybe Vegas, when they kept the Ravens as the favorite,
knew what they were doing.
Because I'm kind of on board.
Because right now, if the Steelers played the Ravens 10 times,
I'm taking the Ravens eight and a half of those.
Like, I mean, what you saw out of the Ravens tonight,
an elite quarterback, and I get it, it's Miami, the team's not that good, but still, short week.
Derek Henry looked lively, defensively, Kyle Hamilton, Kyle Van Nuoy flying around making plays.
So, like, this is a team now that I thought tonight officially put the Pittsburgh Steelers on notice.
And if you tell me the Pittsburgh Steelers lose this weekend against the Colts and have lost two weeks in a row to good teams, like, I'm out on them.
I am simply out on them.
this is a must-win spot for Pittsburgh come Sunday, mainly because of this.
Because the team we've seen in the last couple weeks, one with the backup quarterback four days ago,
and then the Lamar version tonight, like that's more of the real Ravens team.
And I just thought like, hey, we've seen how bad these guys are playing.
Listen, John Harbaugh is a $15 million coach for a reason.
He's done this before.
They've been flipped a switch.
They've made personnel changes in the middle of the year,
tweaks that have worked year after year.
and it feels like they've done that right now.
And the Ravens team I'm watching
looks like they're getting 9 or 10 wins.
And it looks like they could go on one of those runs.
Damn, they just won, you know, 8 of 9 games.
And we know the Steelers can't,
but they definitely can't if they lose this week.
Because to me, if they do, like this Ravens thing is real.
And all of a sudden they went from 1 and 5,
they're 3 in 5, and they got momentum going this way.
And you had the Steelers who started whatever, 4 and 1,
and five and two or whatever the fuck their record is.
They were four and one.
Now they're four and two.
They could be four and three.
I think I'm screwing this up.
Let me look this up.
Kind of all amped up here.
Standings.
We got the Pittsburgh Steelers who are four and three.
So if they lose this weekend, they're four and four.
And if the Cincinnati Bengals were to win, they'd also have four wins.
So all of a sudden you'd be like, we had this great start.
We had this huge lead.
And now we look behind us.
And there are the Ravens with one less win.
and there are the Cincinnati Bengals with the same amount of wins,
who obviously beat us a couple weeks ago.
So I think if you're a Ravens fan,
you can take a deep breath these last four days saved your season.
And your season was only saveable as long as the Steelers didn't win.
And it turns out they did not win against the Packers.
They did not win against the Bengals.
So they were four and one.
And now they got a chance to lose three straight games
and all of a sudden be four and four.
And you're right behind them.
And this is one of those races where it's like,
They had you laughed, and now you're seeing their taillights, and now you're coming on them,
and you still play them a couple times.
So I would like my chances.
The other thing is like, I just trust the Ravens down the stretch way more than I trust the Steelers.
So this is a division that, listen, I was wrong on.
A couple weeks ago, I said this was crazy.
But I don't see how you watch the Steelers the last couple weeks, and then watch the Ravens these last couple weeks,
and just know the infrastructure, like one team's used to winning 12 to 14 games.
the others are used to scratch it and clawed to get to 9 or 10.
And it does feel like they're headed back toward those paths.
Now, obviously the Ravens aren't going to win 12 games this year,
but right now they feel like they could go on a stretch of just rattling off some Ws.
Because you have that quarterback, you have that offensive firepower,
and if their defense plays good, that was the problem.
Their defense was atrocious if it's going to play good.
And even tonight, like they were giving up yards, made some big things happen,
created turnover, got off the field on fourth down.
Obviously, the dude missed the kick early in the game,
which was a big swing
because then the Ravens went right down the field
and scored.
It's like a 14-point swing.
But I think it's fair to declare.
I don't want to say the Ravens are back
because you're 3 and 5.
But the Ravens feel like
tangibly real again.
I love this guy.
Al Michaels has been a huge part of my life.
Anyone around my age
or obviously older
that has been watching sports for decades,
he's played a massive role in a lot of these events.
And I mean, there are a couple guys.
You know, Brent Musburger, Marv Albert,
those type guys that when you're young
and you first start watching games,
it's a big deal, especially for those of us,
you know, started watching games before we ever had cable in our house.
So you had to be on network TV,
and these guys were stars.
And Al Michaels is a legend.
And it goes back to like the 70s
when he was calling Pete Rose Games with the Cincinnati Reds
to call him.
the hockey game in 1980 to obviously calling the NFL for a long time and working with John Madden
and playing a major role on Sunday night football but I think it's over and a couple years ago
it could be longer in that now I remember watching games on TNT and thinking Marv Albert like
couldn't tell what was going on and obviously basketball the pace of basketball is a lot
different than football it's much faster because it never started.
stops. There's not a stop in the action between a miss and a fast break and pushing it back.
So you really got to be on. But even the night, like early in the game, there was a play
where Al goes, oh, he just stopped a bit short. And it turned out it was like fourth and five.
It's like, can I see? And I haven't noticed it as much, but I've heard buddies or people in the
media talk about this. He's slipping and he's slipping hard. And listen, there's something to the
name value of Marve Albert, of Al Michaels, and for a long period of time, that not only has
mattered, that's been important, like those guys were the best in the business. But like an athlete,
when a running back can no longer run or a pitcher can no longer throw strikes, it ends.
It ends for everyone in the business. You know, coaches get fired, players get cut,
and I think we're at the point where, you know, Al just needs to hang up the mic, because
I try not to be too negative when it comes to, like, legendary.
people because I do respect it.
And I could never do, just like most podcasters,
couldn't dream of what they do from a play-by-play standpoint
and in his heyday how good he was.
And I was just a smooth cat.
But at 80 years old, calling these games,
it does feel like if his fastball was much once 100 miles an hour,
it feels like he's thrown about 72 right now.
And like it might take a second for the hitter to get adjusted
from 100 to 72, but once they do that,
thing's gone. And it's, it's, it's ugly. Today's show is brought to you by our new presenting

What's the news, new?
huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas.
brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Bernard Suburban Dad, but secretly he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree.
At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong on what that might look like?
No, I didn't want to manifest that.
I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is,
getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is,
getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America,
there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War.
To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard.

I wanted to hit on a couple more things for this upcoming weekend
because we already mentioned Tomlin.
There's a ton of pressure on him.
I think he's at a fork in the road moment in his career.
Because if he doesn't win this game,
I think the season could go south for them.
The Ravens win the division.
If they don't make the playoffs, I have a hard time.
Again, I don't think he's going to get fired.
They never want to fire him,
thinking he's the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006.
if you tell me that the Ravens end up winning the division and the Pittsburgh Steelers don't make the playoffs,
I would bet that it would be over for him. Whether it's a trade, whether it's just to let him out of
his contract, go to the Dolphins, the Giants, I would just imagine he would be a head coach for a different team.
I think the Dolphins and the Giants would make a ton of sense. And if I was him, I'd want a fresh
door, but clearly he doesn't. So we've talked about that over and over. But I think there
are other guys with a ton on the line this weekend. One, Kevin O'Connor,
is taking J.J. McCarthy, who hasn't started a game in what feels like multiple months into
the Detroit Lions who are not only rolling, but sometimes when a guy gets thrown out, like,
hey, I think we should look at Kelvin Shepard as their next head coach. You know, a former
player, if he's like an assistant coach, it's like, well, it's just, is he a good one? Like,
is this going to work? You're watching Kelvin Shepard, who's like, team captains for LSU,
super high level guy as a player, and now is a badass defensive coordinator. Like, there might be
I'm like, if Lane turned them down, if you told me Kelvin Shepard was the next head coach at
LSU, I'd kind of believe you. There's a chance that Kelvin Shepard is a better defensive
coach than Aaron Glenn, and I think we all agree over the last couple years. Aaron Glenn established
himself as one of the better defensive coordinators. So they've had some guys in and out of the
lineup in terms of injuries, but I think he's an elite defensive coordinator. And obviously
offensively, based on the way Minnesota's been playing, Detroit's going to score at home.
This thing could unravel and unravel fast. And there's no going to the
bullpen, hey Carson, JJ's kind of banged up, we're losing, come on into the game in the second
half. He's in the hospital. So all eyes are on Jay J.J. McCarthy, especially. He's going back to
Michigan, a place where he became a first round pick and took the team to the national championship.
There's just going to be a lot of eyeballs on this game. And one thing that's starting to really
bother me is, I mentioned this on a couple podcasts. If I'm repeating myself, I'm sorry,
but how Michael said this again during the game, I'm getting so tired of,
we just don't have any patience anymore.
Yes, there are certain things we don't have patience for anymore.
We don't have the time.
Why?
Because there's too much money on the line.
I'm about to have a child.
I'm going to have some patience for him when he's a young child.
Why?
He's got a long life.
He has to learn some basic things, like how to eat food and read.
But when I draft a guy in the first round,
and I have about three years to figure out if I'm going to pick up his fifth year option
or if I'm going to find a way to pivot and my team's good,
I don't have unlimited time.
JJ's in a year and a half.
Is he getting three years?
Maybe, maybe not.
What if he just fucking blows?
It's like, is he going to be the starter going into year three?
Because I've seen in other places, that's not how it works anymore.
Times have changed.
So, yeah, we used to have more patience.
When we weren't paying guys that much money, when they were on long contracts,
you have to decide immediately what's going to happen and what's not going to happen.
Here's the other thing.
You're charging, especially a place like Minnesota, a lot of money.
to be in these suites, to have these good seats.
Like, you're asking people to give their time to watch you play.
Their time is your most valuable assets.
How you pay for everything.
So when you suck, like, it's a problem.
And especially given their situation, who he's replacing,
who looks like he's taking Seattle to the playoffs.
So there is a tangible pressure on J.J.M. McCarthy.
Not even debatable.
Just like all these young quarterbacks.
There's pressure on Caleb Williams to play well this year,
because next year is not.
guaranteed on the bears. If you think I'm crazy for saying that, you just haven't been falling
the same league I've been falling. It is what it is. There's lack of patience and everything we do.
That's just the way our society works now. So you either adapt to it or you just keep complaining
about it. It's no different my job. I wasn't able to generate revenue in this podcast and get people
listen. This podcast wouldn't exist on the volume. This is pretty black and white. Most of these
industries we all work in. And when you get drafted really high and you go to a
good team. The expectations are pretty high. You don't get to just ease into things.
So the pressure on J.J. McCarthy this weekend is immense. I actually think there's some underrated
pressure on the bills because the Patriots clearly are not going away. And most of us expect them
to play pretty well and probably beat the Atlanta Falcons. And if you just look at the Patriot's
schedule, like, they're just going to end up winning 12, 13 games. Well, if you're the bills,
you've already dropped a couple. You've already lost the Patriots and you've got to go play them in New
England. Now, in theory, you have still got the better quarterback, you know, accomplished coach.
It's not like you're going to be quote-unquote under man when you're playing them, but
you lose this Chiefs game. All of a sudden, we look around and go, God, are we sure that they're
going to win the division? And listen, two things when I was gambling to do some parlayes on division
winners, I didn't even touch the Ravenger the Bills, because their odds were so bad. And I thought
they were just like, listen, I'm not even messing with that. I'd be stunning if they didn't win,
but not even playing. The bills were like almost.
four to one favor to win the minus 400 to win the division.
And you beat the Chiefs who you've handled before in the regular season,
you're still in good shape. You lose this game. All of a sudden, they've beat you,
and you're one game behind them, again, assuming they lose.
Because they have another game where if they beat the Atlanta Falcons, like, let's face it,
the Atlanta Falcons would be three and five. And all of a sudden we'd be talking about
is Rahim Morris going to make it to the end of the year? Like, is he going to survive?
and when the season ends and they win seven games after trading their first round pick,
are all these guys getting fired?
And this is when you kind of, like the McDaniel thing, we knew coming in there were going to suck,
we knew it was going to go bad, least shocking thing we've ever seen that we're talking about him,
you know, losing his job getting fired.
Like, that happens.
But when you look at Atlanta, you could have made the case, Atlanta was a 10-win team this season.
I thought it was on the table.
Now, I bet against it, but it's like I could have seen a scenario.
and now all of a sudden you're 3 and 5
well you got 9 games left
you're going to go
you'd have to go 6 and 3
in those 9 to just get to 9 and 8
you're definitely not going 7 and 2
you haven't proven anything but more than likely
you're a 4 and 5 team
a 5 and 4 team and if that's the case you're under 500
missing the playoffs again
so to me
the bills like
they got to win this game just to hold serve with the Patriots
J.J. McCarthy, people are going to have
slinging some takes because everyone's going to be paying attention
in that game. And this Atlanta thing could get really weird, really fast.
Because the trade deadline is next week.
And this kind of solidifies.
Like if you're a team in the mix,
you're obviously not selling off any pieces.
And some of these pieces are just guys that are going to be a free agent that you're not going to resign.
So it's like, hey, would you trade this guy right now for a fourth or fifth round pick
instead of just playing out the season?
if you're a playoff team, it's worth it to have that guy.
And then you look at the real bad teams, it's like,
are the Jets going to trade players?
Do the Titans have any players to trade?
You know, if the Falcons lose to the Cowboys on Monday night,
like, are they in the business of trading some of their guys?
Who would even be that tradable?
Like, booed a baker type?
Does he even want to leave?
So it's like usually the trade deadline,
historically in the NFL has been the most boring.
It's definitely amped up over the last couple years
because we have a lot more aggressive,
you know kind of young GMs
but I just don't know
maybe like a Jeffrey Simmons
but my expectations for the trade deadline
would be a lot of like
you know kind of smaller trades that we've seen
you're like so-and-so have traded for
some corner that most people have never heard of
that that would be my expectation
so if a blockbuster comes I think we would all be
knocked back a little bit okay I'll get you out here on this
because it's Fugazi Friday
I got two Fugasier.
for you. My first Fugazi's
when NBC
and the NBA
reunited and it was
announced that the NBA has signed this new
deal with Amazon Prime, new partners
no longer with TNT,
they've re-uped with ESPN, and they're
getting back with NBC.
So we're going to hear that NBC theme song.
I think I didn't watch it, but I
heard someone's talking about like Bob Costas
has been doing intros. They're kind of doing a throwback
for my youth. When I think about the
NBC, when I was a kid in the
NBA was dominating.
It was Michael Jordan on Sunday mornings
against the Knicks or the Pacers.
It felt no different than watching
Packers, Lions, or Chiefs
Bills. It was a really big
deal that I don't know anyone
with a pulse that likes sports that missed.
So once they announced
that Michael Jordan, the greatest
basketball player, and just
one of the coolest universally
respected individuals,
was coming back and going to be
on the broadcast, I was like, this is going to be
cool. Not even that my
expectations were that big. I didn't expect
them to see like three times
a week sitting on a studio. But when
they amounts, Michael Jordan NBC
going to work together. I was like, ah,
Michael going to sling some takes?
Like, Michael going to be like
shitting on the guy?
It turns out that
Mike Tariko did an interview
with Michael Jordan at Michael
Jordan's house. And let's just say
the interview was an hour long.
And they have taken snippets
of this interview, and they just show a little bit week to week.
That is the reunion of Michael Jordan and NBC.
He really has nothing.
And I don't blame Michael.
One thing I appreciate about Michael is in this world where we know everything about everybody,
especially famous rich people.
We don't know that much about Michael.
We only know that he likes to booze, smoke cigars, and play a lot of golf,
which we've known for 30 plus years.
but just in terms of
he ain't tweeting
he ain't Instagramming
he lives a life
pretty mysterious
and this is kind of
classic Michael Jordan
it's like yeah I'll let you announce
that I'm coming back
but I'm not really coming back
I'll just have Mike over
he can come and hell you can stay the night
we'll have a few cocktails
we'll watch a game after we do the interview
but this is what I'm giving you
it's like what
and I blame NBC
and it's an NBC
hater because I love golf
and when they have
from the writer
to the U.S. Open, their product is by far the worst.
You talk about an operation running a Fugazi.
NBC and their branding of this Michael Jordan relationship,
All-timer.
And last but not least,
I'm not proud to say this,
because as I've aged,
you can't outrun a bad diet,
really resonates with me.
Most of my life, never been in great shape,
but I could eat relatively what I wanted.
And I've always worked out.
I think it's kind of helped my stress levels and helps me sleep.
Working out is not my issue.
I can work out seven days a week.
But as you get older, your diet kind of dictates your body more than working out.
You can't outrun.
It's very true.
I have a sweet tooth.
I love sweets.
It's one thing I struggle with as I get older of just no ice cream, no candy, nothing.
Like that can be a downfall of mine.
I can actually kick carbs for a month, no problem.
It's usually sugars that are my problem.
So over the course of my 40 years on this planet,
indefinitely the last 25,
I've eaten a lot of candy in my day.
A lot.
And I love Halloween, like most people, like eating candy.
I can slam the minis, wresses, snickers, milky ways, all day.
I'm more of a chocolate guy than the Starburst, Sour Patch Kid,
that.
Not that I hate that, but like I think there's a line of delineation between the two.
My wife, a lot of people I know.
love that type candy.
I would never even cross my mind to buy that type candy
if I'm in a store, if I'm in a gas station, whatever.
But one thing I have noticed,
I would say over the course of the last 10 years,
but definitely recently, the last three or four years,
I think these companies,
it's obviously a couple of major companies,
selling you Snickers,
Reese's pieces, Milky Way, whatever,
I think they're making way shittier
of a product.
than they were in years past.
I think the ingredients they use are way cheaper.
I think it tastes dramatically worse.
Like, sometimes I'll just have one of those little snickers or milky ways,
like the little manis, and think, this is not good.
This tastes like very chemically.
It just doesn't taste good anymore.
And I'm a candy, I'm not hating.
This isn't like a conspiracy theory in the sense of like candy's really bad for you.
I don't get.
That's not what I mean.
I'm just saying the actual product.
and the flavor in your mouth, to me, is way worse than it was 10, 15, 20 years ago.
And my theory on that is obviously, I guess, less people eating crappier foods.
So if you still want to sell more, you got to make more.
Maybe you make it with cheaper ingredients, so it's cheaper.
So even if you sell less, you still make more because it's cheaper to produce.
I don't know.
But you can't convince me that the Snickers or the Rees that I'll eat over the next couple days
taste the same as it did in 2010
or 2000. I just don't believe you
because when I taste it sometimes
it actually helps me because I don't even want to eat
anymore because I don't think it tastes very good. It tastes cheap.
So whatever candies they were slinging, I love Halloween
and anyone giving out apples or toothbrushes,
you're a fucking loser. You're a loser.
But be careful.
Maybe the bigger ones are better than the minis,
but I do think the minis is really slipping in quality.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War.
To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store. I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job.
I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things.
The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House
that's actually worth the wall space.
We are more than our bodies.
We contain essence.
We contain spirit.
How do you represent that?
They are just fueling a fire that is really catching.
You'll see what I mean.

Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree.
At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest,
way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success. Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look
of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever because
everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue.

Okay, we bring him back again because I need some good juju.
He has molded me into hammer some of these dogs to buy low when everyone's shortened a team.
And I have taken that strategy the last couple weeks and I have been getting annihilated.
These favorites are kicking ass and taking names.
My main man, Stucky from the Action Network,
follow Big Betts on campus, follow the Action Network podcast.
All of our lines here are presented by our good friends and our partners at Hard Rock Bet.
Stucky, I think you were throwing out some numbers last week on the favorites and the overs.
It's been a good stretch for people just throwing money on the good teams.
Yeah, favorites went.
I didn't bet too many dogs last week.
Who did I have last week?
I had, on Sunday, I had the Saints,
when I ended up turning the ball over a million times.
But it was a Sunday that normally I would have gotten killed in,
and I'm lucky that I didn't because favorites went 11 and 2 against spread,
which is the best winning percentage on any Sunday,
where I guess for the whole week they went 11 and 2
because Chiefs covered Monday,
Chargers covered Thursday. That's the best winning percentage in any single week in the NFL since 1985.
Oh my God. Okay, let's just dive right in. You know, this is your classic spot where it's like everyone out on Minnesota. They got some injuries. Carson Wentz just died so hopefully J.J. McCarthy can walk. And JJ's back in against the Lions in Detroit. Now, this is, you know, he's, you know, he's,
He's a big deal in that area because of what he brought to the college.
But there probably won't be many people rooting for the Minnesota Vikings just because they have
Jay-J McCarthy in that place.
This is the type number that I would have hammered Minnesota over the last couple weeks,
but my logic here is pretty simple.
I think this season's about to really get away from them.
And sometimes, you know, you screw up a quarterback situation because logic, like I don't blame
them for doing what they did.
But it feels like 49ers went through this.
They got lucky.
Brock Purdy, they drafted in the seventh round, he saved them.
Sometimes you get in one of these situations.
You draft a guy high.
You end up letting Sam Donald walk.
All of a sudden, you got Carson Wentz dead on the ground,
and J.J. McCarthy's played eight quarters of his career in a year and a half.
So I just think this thing, I get to have a good coaching staff,
but it does feel like Minnesota's, it could end here.
And it could get really ugly against a team.
We know how good Detroit is at home.
I just think this is a type spot with Dan Campbell.
Kelvin Shepard getting some LSU buzz.
How good has he been?
He's been outstanding.
He really had.
I mean, you've watched them in the last couple weeks.
Two weeks ago was it, when they played Monday night football?
Troyickman was like, this is one of the most impressive things I can remember.
I mean, he's playing with these random guys.
They had a bunch of backups off the street playing in the secondary.
He also had a really good game plan.
against the Ravens for how they contained Lamar, his legs.
That was Monday, was that Monday night or Sunday night?
Well, both, like there was, I think Aikman was the, the box game.
Yeah, he was.
And then, but a couple weeks before then, I don't know if it was a Sunday or Monday.
I think maybe it would have been a Sunday.
I think it was Monday night football.
Yeah, it could have been Monday night too.
They did a really good job against the Ravens.
He's been great and they have a ton of injuries.
That's worth noting.
I'm hammering the lions here.
I'm taking the lions.
This number could probably get to 10.
This got a chance, Stucky.
This could get weird and ugly for Minnesota.
And it could start early because, like you said,
the defensive coordinator's been in his bag.
We know Detroit is good on offense.
Last time I looked, when's the last time Minnesota covered anybody?
Yeah, I mean, the Vikings should get Van Ginkle back, which is big.
They've been using Dallas Turner in his place and he's not.
Is that have Bus Central written all over it?
It, I mean, you're like,
Here's the thing with McCarthy is what he's shown us.
We haven't seen much.
And by the way, you're right.
The Vikings season easily could slip away because you think about it this year.
They have three wins.
They came against Jake Browning, Dylan Gabriel, and then the Bears in week one
when they needed to come back.
And McCarthy only had one, he had that one good quarter.
That's all he's shown us as one good quarter.
If you look at all his numbers so far, they're bad.
The company that he's with is bad.
It's like some of the worst quarterbacks that have all planned out.
Now, the sample size is still small.
So, you know, he's taking some time off, dealt with the injury.
Is he going to come back here?
They've extended rest.
Lyons also want to buy.
He's going to come back here and look better.
I don't know the answer to that.
I think the number is a little too high based on where I make it, but I don't know if I can trust McCarthy.
So I don't blame me for going with the Lions at home.
Like Dan Campbell is just a cash cow.
And that's all they do is cover.
He's been great off the buy at home.
Indoor's golf is almost automatic.
And like the Lions are going to score on everyone.
Gop's been great against the Blitz.
You know Flores is going to bring the blitz.
He's really gotten the best of Flores over the past couple of matchups.
The secondary injuries can spur me a little bit with Detroit.
But from everything I've seen, you know Detroit's going to score at home.
And I'm not sure McCrott's.
Carthy can keep up. So I have no strong opinion on it as of right now, but I don't blame me for
taking the lines. Like, just take Detroit and cash 65% of the time. It's basically what Dan Campbell
has done. You know, Tomlin has been winning for a long time. And I said a couple days ago on my
podcast that we're literally on right now, that, listen, I'm done ever saying, like, oh, this
time to fire him. I don't expect the organization ever wants to say they fired him. But like,
it does feel if his superpower,
because now if you look,
I don't think,
I think he was favored against Seattle,
week two,
they lost by two touchdowns.
Last week, the second half,
it looked,
the Packers are dramatically better.
And now if you're at home again,
back-to-back weeks,
home dog,
the classic Tomlin spot,
a place where he was like 70%,
if he can't win those games,
and not only win those games,
but if you're,
let's say he loses this game by double digits,
like you are,
you're taking steps backwards,
because now we've seen him
Indy, the Packers in Seattle, three high-end playoff teams.
We already have seen in the last couple years against the Bills and the Ravens in the playoffs,
not even close.
We saw the end of last year.
It kind of feels like we're seeing that again.
Their defense is terrible.
It does feel like it's starting to go, okay, is this thing really over?
This is a, I'm not trying to be hyperbolic, but does feel a little bit of a fork in the road spot,
especially when you look at the way they've built their team.
Like for his stealer career.
Like if he's out winning this game,
I think you look at the rest of the season, you go, yeah, maybe they're not going to end up
win the division.
We're recording this before the Ravens game on Thursday night, but even the Bengals win this
weekend.
It's like all of a sudden he's going to have to fight to win this division.
That's pretty crazy, Stucky.
And I think the Steelers are in trouble.
Ravens are actually favored to win the division right now at two and five, which is insane.
Like, you can go bet that.
The Ravens are the favorites.
That is beyond insane.
It's crazy.
Now, the Ravens have a ridiculously easy schedule.
If, you know, when anyone's listening to this, they would, you already know the result of the game against the dolphins.
But after this week, they have, this is the quarterbacks they face coming up.
McCarthy, Gabriel, Fields, Flacco, Rogers.
Twice.
Flacco and then at the end,
yeah, Rogers twice.
The end of the season,
it's they host the Patriots
and they go to the Packers.
So they could rattle off
like six or seven straight wins here.
And the Steelers schedule obviously gets tougher
and then the Ravens play them twice
so they can really make up ground.
But yeah, I went,
this is the Tom and spot that I trust.
So I got to the window.
You're right.
The back to back being home underdogs
and losing the first leg.
that closed last week at two and a half.
Like the Packers, I stole the Packers better than the Colts.
Like the difference for me this week on why I'm trusting the Steelers is I still think
the Packers are a couple points better than the Colts.
Now, some disagree.
Market might disagree.
But the difference being the Colts offense has been historically good so far this year.
Now, granted, their schedule has been pretty laughable.
But still, they like never punt, right?
Yeah.
You got to play the Titans twice for.
Jonathan Deller's six touchdowns against the Titans this year.
That's been crazy.
And they've played nothing but indoor games and two games in SoFi.
Their only road game outdoors was in Tennessee,
but it was 80 degrees against that joke Titans defense.
So this is like outdoors and some conditions,
but the Steelers defense, it's bad.
They're underperforming because their talent,
like Joey Porter is a good corner.
He's not playing well.
You have Ramsey there.
You have your defensive line.
but now you lost your safety in Deshaun Elliott.
I'm curious to see what they do.
If they shake up the secondary,
if they shake up some of their coverages,
because the defense has been really poor this year.
But I think that the market's gone a little too far on the Colts,
especially you can get their dbs.
Their dbs look slow.
That's part of the problem.
They can't run.
Sle is, I think, watched.
They've been starting to swap him out for Eccles.
It's, yeah, the defense is very problematic.
But, so I don't think they're really going to slow down the Colts enough.
You might get a classic like Pittsburgh voodoo, some turnovers here.
Daniel Jones may be overdue for one of those games.
The Steelers also have a big kicker advantage in this stadium, which is the hardest to kick in in the NFL, which maybe plays a role.
But I just think the Steelers' offense can keep up.
The difference in the Colts and the Packers, to me, is the Packers have a really good defense.
and the Colts right now do not because their corners are hurt.
Tervarius Ward being on IR, Jalen Johnson, their outside corners right now are extremely weak.
They also are the worst in the league at defending tight ends.
Well, the Steelers use multiple tight ends on 55% of their snaps.
One of the most tight end heavy offenses in the league and the Colts can't cover tight ends.
Linebackers and safety's really struggle on that aspect.
So I think the Steelers can take advantage there.
They should be able to run the ball.
Rogers can kind of methodically move the.
the ball down the field. The Colts don't have a pass rush like the Packers either. So I think
the Steelers can keep up here. I think it's too many points. For what it's worth, when Tomlin closes
as a dog of three or more, he is 40, 21 and three against the spread, 65.6%. The most profitable
coach of all time in this spot, 11, 2 and 3 against the spread at home, covering by 8 points per game,
that's 85%. And when that opponent has a winning percentage of 60% or more, 10, 1 and 1 against
spread covering by 10 points per game.
This is the Rara spot.
This is off back-to-back losses.
You could have said that about last week.
Yep, you would have been wrong.
But history says that he covers these more times than not.
And I just think that the line is too.
I think that this should be slightly under three.
So I took the field.
Especially even get like three in a hook.
You can get the pay for it a little bit.
I do like that.
And a lot of it has to do with the matchup of the Steelers' offense
versus the Colts defense.
We'll see if Austin and
Tom and can cook up something defensively because nothing really has been working.
I mean, yes, they won at New England, but it took like five turnovers to shut that offense down.
They were moving the ball.
That defense definitely has the problems.
They're going to need Watt and company to cause some turnovers to slow down the Colts this week.
But I think the market's gone a little bit too far on the Colts.
But I've been wrong with four, but I did bet the Steelers.
They didn't even say, I mean, granted, they hit them a couple times and he pulled off some miraculous throws.
but no sacks.
It's like, man, we're paying a lot of money for this D-Line, TJ.
We need you to be, you know, Miles Garrett or something here.
Yeah, I get why they paid what?
I would not have.
Like, it's...
He's been very hit or miss.
When he's been good, he's been good, but he's also been in my A and some...
He's been like an older player.
Yeah.
And then all that money at his age right now,
where it's like, it feels like a team that needs to just blow it up eventually and start
over.
You've got to find your quarterback of the future.
but they're like hanging on if you're a Steelers fan it's like how for how many years are you going to be
nine and eight go to the playoffs lose your first game I mean the last something on a playoff game is in I don't
know 2016 long time ago yeah so it's been like the same story ever since been Big Ben retired even at
the end of Big Ben's career was kind of the same and um you know now they have Rogers I just heard
them say they want Rodgers to come back next year it's like well he has been the least of their worries
But it hasn't.
The other thing is it hasn't got cold yet.
Remember last year it got cold and, you know,
they're different players.
Obviously, Rogers, Ben and Russ.
But some of the, you look at their schedule,
he's going to be playing some cold-ass games in November and December.
So we'll see.
It's a good point.
Something for me to keep an eye on it.
You know, this is a unique game.
And I told you this before we hit record is this isn't a perfect parallel.
But like, when Jim Harbaugh was hired with the 49ers,
forever, it was like, God, the 49ers have a lot.
of good players. They just need a real coach.
They could be a frisky team, be like a wildcar team.
All of a sudden, midway through the season, it's like,
this team's really good because they're winning all these games.
The dust settles, they had the number one seat.
Now, Eli ended up beating them in the AFC championship game,
but they hosted the NFC championship game after having like a seven,
eight year run of embarrassment.
I mean, one point in time, Pete Carroll turned him down to stay at USC.
It was, Matt Leiner, rumors were that he, you know,
he didn't declare to the draft because you didn't want to go to the 4-9.
It was bleak.
They were treated like the Jets.
A little different in New England because it hasn't been that long,
but Vrable clearly has instantaneously made them a real team.
Now, they benefit from the schedule, but he's a big time coach.
And it does feel like, are we going to look up?
It's like, are the Patriots about to win 12 or 13 games?
And like they're in the mix to win the division.
And on the flip side, it felt like last week was like the moment when everyone got on board
is like, is Rahim and everyone in this organization
going to get canned at the end of this year?
Because they gave the owner,
or they got the owner to give $90 million to a quarterback last year
that they benched.
And then is the highest paid backup in the history of the league
and came in a game and looked atrocious.
And now it feels like he's kind of coaching for his gig.
Not like he's going to get fired midseason,
but you go three and five.
Like, this thing can get away from you fast.
So this is like, I bet against New England as a big favorite
over like two of the last three weeks and been burned.
So I'm not going to do it.
but and there's no way I could trust Rahim Morris
and as of recording this I don't even know
who their quarterback is this week
but I think Atlanta
they lose this game especially and don't even cover the spread
they're getting five and a half points on the road against New England
this thing could get really ugly sucky really fast
yeah I did play the Falcons it's a little scary
I mean on the road they have not looked like the same team
now granted they didn't look they looked bad indoors last week
this is just like this is similar to the Colts like I'm taking my stand here that the market has gone
a little bit too far now I bet let's see there's still a six out there I would look for the six
if you can find it um I just think the market's gone a little too far I mean like the Patriots were
about seven point favorites last week at home against Dylan Gabriel and obviously they get
upgraded the Falcons get downgraded but the Falcons played with Kirk Cousins who look lost there's no
Drake London there without three or four defensive starters and they just came out in the days it happens
in the NFL. And this is a spot that I love historically. Teams off a loss by more than two
touchdowns when they are favored by seven or more. So the Falcons favored by seven last week got
blown out. The next week, they're 33 and 16 against the spread over the past 20 years.
67% they cover by over a field goal per game. 24, 9 and 1 when they go on the road after that
happens, 10, 3 and 1 against the spread as a road dog or more than a field goal. That's just a fancy way
of saying a big favorite got embarrassed.
It's the NFL.
Teams are never as bad or as good as a local week.
The next week after that happens,
usually they're going to get their best effort.
And in this case, the Falcons should be healthier on defense.
One of the things that they do best is that they prevent explosive passing plays.
They're second in the NFL in that department.
That's a huge part of Drake May's game.
I mean, he throws an elite deep ball.
He's been deadly in that department.
Falcons do a good job of preventing those.
They also can get some pressure.
for when they're healthy and they should be much healthier.
They do miss Diablo, their linebacker.
They got Bertrand in there.
He's just terrible.
But he hurts, he really, they really miss him in the running game, run defense.
But New England's run game isn't that great.
And this New England offense, this New England defense is not good.
They can stop the run, but they have issues in coverage.
Their linebacker specifically can't cover.
So I think like Bijon out of the back field, I think that Drake London should be back
this week. That's huge. I mean, not having him last week, just killed the offense and then cousins
looked lost and washed. And I think Pitts can have a big day here. They should be able to move the
ball. I am expecting panics back. Looks like he's trending up. I think the defense will be healthier.
And I mean, this is a Patriots team. Look, May is the real deal. And you're right. They're going to win,
most likely they're going to win double-digit games, assuming they stay healthy. They've been
one of the healthiest teams in the league this year. They've also been pretty,
fortunate on a fourth down so maybe there's some regression coming there. They're 10 of 12 on fourth down.
Opponents are just three and 11. Those things are huge swings in games. But this is a team that
did lose at home to the Steelers. They did lose at home to the Raiders. You got to keep that in mind.
And their wins, they had a really impressive win at Buffalo. There are other wins, the dolphins by
six, they blew out the Panthers, the Saints by Six, they blew out to the Titans, and then they
they blew up Dylan Gabriel and the Browns. And the Browns defense is just not the same on the road.
Dylan Gabriel is not the type of quarterback that's going to throw.
It depends on the past moments.
You have to throw on this New England defense.
And I think Atlanta does have the personnel because I'm expecting Pennix and I am expecting London back.
So I did play Atlanta.
By low, sell high spot.
I'm expecting a max effort.
Expecting a healthier team.
I do think we're getting close to the peak of the market on the Patriots.
It's not, it could be wrong in that aspect.
There are, you know, every year in the end of the time,
NFL, there's, I shouldn't say every year, but most years in NFL, there's usually a team
that the market can't catch up to. Commanders last year. Yeah. And they're just, you know,
you upgrade them like, when I upgrade teams, I don't like, all right, I'm going to upgrade them,
you know, astronomically in one week, right? It's incremental. And you try to make your best guess
of how much better this team is than what you thought coming into the season and your prior
still matter up until a point. So sometimes the market can't catch.
up their team. And it works on the other end, too, the other end of the spectrum. There's some
teams that the market just can't get right of how bad they actually are. And that's why
you have a team like the Titans who were four and 21 against the spread over the past 25 games.
It's just un-fathomable. I'm guilty. I've been very guilty in the past. I was the head of that
train last year. And the market just can't, you can't get them right. There was some Browns
teams back the day. They would always take sharp money. I used to bet them all the time and they just
were so bad, but you would say your numbers would be like, all right, this is gone too far,
but in reality, it hasn't.
The market hasn't bottomed out yet.
And there's a chance that we haven't reached the peak on the Colts offense.
This really is, and the Colts and the Patriots are very similar.
You have their offenses have been great.
Drake Mays been great.
Daniel Jones has been great.
But they've played like soft schedules.
Their defenses have holes.
But they're both six and two against the spread.
They both continue to cover.
and maybe we're just, we haven't gone far enough yet.
I'm taking a stand.
I did fade both of them this week,
so I did bet the Falcons and the Steelers.
Wish me luck.
Remember there was like,
it might have been Flores year one.
So would that have been like 19 or 18 when they were like,
it would have been 19 because they were kind of tanking for a quarterback.
I'm pretty sure they got a couple lines that got near 20,
maybe over 20 against the Pats.
Yeah.
That was, I think that's like the biggest line.
The COVID one's harder because some guys didn't, the teams didn't have quarterback or whatever, but like actual football games.
I remember that Dolphins team with Flores got pretty ugly, pretty bleak.
I kind of missed that.
And I talk a lot of shit about the NBA for tanking.
You can't have that.
But in the NFL, like every five years have something situation like that would intrigue me.
Agreed.
I remember Belichick trying to.
They got a great punt team.
It's like Bill.
Broncos Jags 2013 the Broncos I believe are 27 point favorite it's hard to even think about
wow and they ended up the biggest NFL line of like the last couple decades probably has to be yes
by far there was a game where like what was the final score of that game 35 19 the Broncos ones of the
the Jaggs cover jaggs were 0 and 5 the Broncos were 5 and oh the Broncos at Peyton Manning
really good defense.
The Jags were starting Chad, Hennie,
who ended up throwing for 300 in that game.
Oddly enough.
And that line wouldn't be that big today, would it?
No, that is insane.
There was a line, this was a COVID year when the,
during COVID, the Saints went to the Broncos
and had no quarterbacks left.
Yeah.
And they had a start, a Wake Forest wide receiver at quarterback.
And that game was sick.
They were like, I think it was like plus 17.
The total was like 34.
I ended up betting the overend.
I stupidly bet the Saints with a wide receiver at quarterback.
He did play some quarterback in college.
I thought it was Denver that played the wide receiver at quarterback.
Yes, you're right.
It was Denver.
You're right.
got that mixed up.
They were playing the Saints, and they were catching like 17 and a half at home.
And I ended up betting them in the under.
And I think the final score was like, I want to say it was like 28 to 3 or something.
It was rough.
I remember watching because I wanted to see it.
It was one of the worst games I've ever watched.
Those were bleak times.
Thank God we're never going back.
Yes.
Okay.
Speaking of the Broncos, you nailed the Houston game last week.
The rest didn't hit them because the first.
49ers roll out a defensive line that was not capable of taking advantage of anybody.
That's not really the case here with the Broncos.
The problem is, is one thing that really stood out in that Niners game is Colton McKivitz.
They just gave him an extension, which I think we can debate whether that's smart or not,
because he plays a guy like Will Anderson.
Will Anderson looks like he's Derek Thomas or fucking Lawrence Taylor.
He was dominant in that game.
Now, Denver's got a good offensive line, but Houston's defense is really good.
I mean, Will Anderson is a monster.
You know, that guy, I would love for that guy to be on my squad.
It does feel, though, this offensive line for Houston,
and I get there, Mrs. Sartan, who's one of the best players in a league.
And I think Riley Moss, I was watching the game last week,
and he got like three straight PIs, and they're like,
hey, he leads the league by a wide margin.
He got one like right after they said that.
Yeah, he's getting some PIs.
But that offensive line, you know, CJ looked awesome,
but he had all time to throw.
I don't know if that's going to be the case here.
I think I kind of liked Denver a lot.
Now, this number has come down.
I looked this morning.
It was plus one and a half.
But it does feel like a matchup game.
Tough spot for Houston.
I think I'm going to bet Houston,
but I can see the case.
I've made this case for the Texans for and against before,
and it's the case you just made.
like Stroud in a way is a pressure merchant.
Like if he is not under pressure,
because that offensive line is so bad,
he can carve up defenses.
If he is,
and that offensive line is very vulnerable,
and you go up against an elite defensive front,
like we saw it against the Rams,
we saw it against the Seahawks.
The entire offense collapses.
And you're certainly going up against an elite defensive front in Denver,
and they will certainly bring the blitz.
Stroud has struggled against the blitz as well.
So I wouldn't blame anyone,
for taking the Broncos with that logic.
However, I don't know if Denver's defense can be as effective without Sartan.
Like the ripple effects without him are massive.
Like he basically takes away one side of the field, takes away your number one receiver,
and it allows them to be so aggressive.
It allows them to have so much flexibility and aggression.
Will they still have that?
I don't know.
they played a little bit more conservative last week ago but they had a lead so it's hard
to read too much into that but it's a big drop off from him to abram's drain and the texans should
have nico collins and christian kirk back this week that's pretty big broncos also are dead last
in league covering running backs out of the backfield that's been woody marks has given them a little
juice in that department so that's a way that houston can potentially move the ball the young receivers for
Houston did look a lot better last week.
I think they can carry some of that momentum over.
And it's not going to take much to win this game.
The total is 40 indoors for a reason.
These are two great defenses.
But at the end of the day, like I'm, especially this is at one, I'm taking Stroud over
Nix.
I'm taking the Houston defense over the Broncos defense, especially with that certain.
And they're at home.
And this is like this Houston defense, they're,
like similar to the Colts offense.
Not enough people are talking about a historically good.
This past defense has been for the Texans this year.
They are number one in the league by a wide margin.
And they're going to play a lot of quarters.
They're going to play a lot of zone.
And Bo Nix has been miserable against both this year.
And I mean, you look at this Broncos team.
Yes, they have six wins.
But man, have they been lucky.
They beat the Titans at home by one possession.
they beat Jake Browning.
They beat Justin Field by two in London.
They beat the Giants at home by one when they were down 20.
They came back from down 173 against Philly to win by four.
Then last week they blew out the road Cowboys.
It was an impressive win.
Nix was impressive, but the Cowboys defense.
If you look at Nix's numbers this year,
most of his damage that he's done has come against the Bengals defense,
the Cowboys
defense
and then the Giants defense
and they didn't do anything
to the fourth quarter
when the Giants lost all their defensive backs
This is a big spot for Bo necks
I mean this is
If you're going to take Denver seriously
He plays well then you feel good
If he gets overwhelmed
Like you just like out
Because the Denver's defense is
Per out of the Houston offense
Is not going to light the world on fire any week
I mean even last week they were up at one point in that game
450 to 150 and
yards. They had the ball of the entire, and then it's like a one possession game. You're like,
what the hell is going on? So Nick doesn't even have to be great, but he can't be a disaster.
And he's had games where he's a disaster, but it's still okay because the Denver defense is so good.
And they're playing against a defense that's not elite. Well, this is an elite defense. There is no
certain. So I'm going to go to Houston. But your hypothesis and your premise on just saying like, look, the offense of mine is going to hold up.
That's going to be the difference.
I can't follow you for that logic.
And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering
the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store.
I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway. If you're an historian and you leave out half

We contain spirit.

Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad,
but secretly, he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree.
At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy,
but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about
How it could go wrong on what that might look like.
No, I didn't want to manifest that.
I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever,
because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue.

Okay, let's get to the main event.
Chiefs at Buffalo.
Obviously, Buffalo has played really well against them in the regular season over the years, but they have never beat them in the playoffs, right?
Oh, and four.
And I don't know.
To me, it's hard not to love the Chiefs in the spot.
They go in, they win.
not only would Kansas City be one of the hottest teams in the league,
it'd be hard to see them like,
yeah, they're probably going to win the AFC again,
assuming they stay healthy because the quarterback looks awesome.
Their offense is dramatically better with Riceback and Hollywood Brown in there.
Their running backs are all playing well.
They avoided disaster.
Pacheco just, you know, sprained his knee.
And, you know, you saw, like, him be pretty ecstatic when they checked it out for the ACL
and everything was good on the sideline with the trainer.
I don't know.
Something, I know Buffalo dominated last week.
but I mean it's like what do you even make of that?
As someone that had Buffalo at the beginning of the season
to go to the Super Bowl, I don't know.
It just feels like I just don't think their personnel is good enough on defense
when the dust settles and they're going to get a big time test this weekend
because I think over the years, I don't know if the Chiefs,
the motivation hasn't quite been the same in the regular season
as the way they obviously get up for the playoffs.
I think they're going to take this game pretty seriously.
You know, they've got to buy.
I would expect the Chiefs
A little kitchen sink game here
Like hey motherfuckers we're back
Fully back
I think you're going to get a full
You know Mike Tyson like right
Swing from Andy Reid this week
With some stuff they got in their back box
Especially after last week they were
You could tell after like the third
It's like this they just called off the dogs
You've been on this forever
You know Andy is not a college coach
He's not running it up like Signetti
I think this week
Buffalo better be careful
because I think the Chiefs are kind of come in firing.
Yeah, I wish I had a hot take on this game.
I really do.
I mean, like, in order to bet the Chiefs here,
like, she's minus one and a half two,
like, you'd have to make this,
like, just from a pure project is if this is how you bet.
You'd have to show value in it.
I'd have to make them, like, at least over a field goal.
Like, after adjusting for home field, like,
So we're saying like that the chiefs are, you know, four, four and a half points better than the bills in order like it to, that would, that would be enough for me to say, okay, I'll, I'll lay it here.
Well, what would this line be if they were his game was at Arrowhead?
No, I'm just saying like, I guess it would probably.
Because you're just doing that in a neutral field the way you're looking at it, right?
Yeah, I'm, no, I'm saying like, yeah, on a neutral field, that's how much better.
they would have to be.
And then you adjust for home field.
You know, and I would make it slightly
a field goal, then I could justify
taking this price.
Now, the bills have defensive injuries like Ed Oliver
going on IR. Their linebackers are banked up.
Their safeties are banged up.
And that's been the biggest issue
of them. Their defense. And they really haven't played anyone this year.
They lost to the Patriots. They should have lost the Ravens.
The rest of their games have been, you know,
you're playing the jets, the dolphins, the Panthers.
So it's hard to really get a true read
on just how troubled this defense is,
especially with some of their injuries up front.
Now, the run is very susceptible,
but that's not really the Chiefs game,
but also they can be attacked,
like their state is going to be attacked.
Their linebackers right now can be attacked
over the middle of the field,
and that's somewhere where the Chiefs certainly can take advantage of.
I do think, like, in a way,
we're at the peak on the Chiefs.
Like, we've seen their offense,
Like they're laying two points at Buffalo.
And like how much higher can you get on them?
I don't think you can.
I mean, the Ravens were considered number one in the league coming into the year.
The top dog, they were favorites to win the Super Bowl.
And that's, they weren't even this high in week one at Buffalo.
So, yeah, I just can't get there.
And like, look, it's Josh Allen at home.
They lose like once every 18 months at home.
and they did already happen this year.
Maybe that's their one loss.
Now, the Chief's offense is trending up,
but let's remember they played the Washington defense,
which had like everyone hurt, no pass rush.
They played the Raiders when Crosby got hurt
and the Raiders are just a mess.
And that's their last two weeks.
So it odds looked a little, and look, they've had offensive line injuries.
Not going to matter against the Raiders.
Crosby in Washington last week.
If there's one thing Buffalo can do, it is they can get pressure.
but to me this just
screams
who's going to have the ball last
you know Alan's going to put up a fight
he uses his legs a ton he averages like
10 10 attempts
for game every time they play the Chiefs
so he's going to extend drives
he's going to put his body on the line like
this is an all out
Allen game too I agree with you
you're going to get the kitchen sink from the Chiefs
like these games are even more important to them it's not like they have
a five game lead in the division
right like their division
they started behind the 8
baseball. Like these games are very important.
There's a massive game for both teams.
I mean, this is huge because the bills also now,
their bills are used to just running out of the division. They have the Patriots.
So for playoff positioning, for everything.
So I think you can get both teams best shot. I think it would be an awesome game to watch.
If either team goes up like 10, I'll be bet in the other side live most likely.
Because either quarterback will easily bring their team back in the game.
and yeah, I think this will just be a heavyweight fight
that will be awesome to watch,
but I don't really have that hot of a take.
But the Chief's offense might just be too much
for the current state of this Bill's defense.
But then again, like, the Chief's run-dee is vulnerable this year,
and that's what everything starts for the Bills with their run game,
which I think they'll be able to get going here.
And then, like, it's just going to be Allen making plays,
Mhomes making plays.
Like, there's not much mystery here.
It'll be fun to watch.
I'll probably look to bed it live.
Okay, let's do the quick primetime games.
I don't like, I love Seattle in this spot.
Coming off a by, Washington licking their wounds,
just had a road Monday night game at Arrowhead.
Their defense looks so bad.
I mean, the guy's been a legendary player,
but God, Bobby Wagner looks slow.
And any time your middle linebacker,
like, this isn't 1992.
you're playing all these teams that are spreading you out,
all these running backs and tight ends can really catch.
You kind of get exposed in space fast.
And I just think Seattle,
I've been on this guy for a long time.
If McDonald was an offensive coach,
I mean,
I think Seattle has a very good chance if they can get healthy.
Like, if they are healthy, you know,
like they're going to be really good.
Now, Sam Donald's going to have that kind of elephant in the room.
What's he like in the big, big games?
But holy shit, he does look good.
I think Seattle,
I think Washington, we talked about it last week.
They're in major trouble.
Now they're in real trouble.
And to me, I don't even think they're in trouble.
They're just not very good this year.
Defense is bad.
The offense is banged up.
And that fourth down there,
and I was talking about it came,
it's coming back to Biden.
Andy Reid just said it.
He's like it was a difference in the game.
They went 0 and 2 and we got some big spots.
We turned into touchdowns and it's the game.
That was it.
And last year they were getting all those four downs.
Now there's no McLaren.
Tunsel's banged up.
Daniel's is going to play.
but how healthy is he? Is he fully mobile? Obviously when he is fully mobile. But like he hasn't
been the same quarterback as last year. A little bit of a sophomore slump, but also like the timing's been off.
He's didn't get the work with the receivers leading up to the season. And every week there's different receivers playing.
So like this offense is nowhere close to where it was. Last year now teams kind of know their tendencies,
know what Cliff and company want to do with Daniel. So it's just not the same operation. And then the defense you mentioned,
like Lattimore, he's over the hill, mentioned Wagner.
That against the Seattle play action, Wagner is going to be in trouble there.
And Washington can't generate any pressure because of all their defensive line injuries.
I mean, they've been decimated up front, and their secondary wasn't very good to begin with.
And now you have Seattle coming in who can generate pressure without blitzing at one of the top rates in the league,
and their secondary is only getting healthier.
You mentioned coming off a buy, Washington, short,
week. The
McDonald, the Seahawks owner McDonald
have been tremendous
on the road throughout his
tenure. The only thing that gives
me pause here is like just the uncertainty
with McLarm, which would lead itself
to, it would only help the Seattle side.
Are we, like,
is this the bottom of the market on Washington?
It isn't like a save your season all in
spot. Like, you lose this game
at, like, your season is
close to done.
Like, just, so
and are we like at the peak on Seattle?
I'm not sure we've gotten there yet,
but that would be my one concerns,
but I do think Seattle has significant advantages
on both sides of the ball against this very beat-up
Washington offense.
It just doesn't have the same dynamic
without McLaurin stretching the field,
and it doesn't enable you to do a lot of the things that they want to do,
and just the offense in general hasn't been as good
because of some of the reasons that I mentioned before.
So, yeah, I think Seattle's a real player in the NFC.
You know, one thing looking at their stats from 2024 is they were so potent scoring with the run game.
I mean, Brian Robbins said eight touchdowns for him.
Jaden Daniels ran for six, and he led the team in rushing,
and McNichols and Echler combined for eight touchdowns.
It's like right now they're depending on the seventh round rookie, who is talented.
I know people in the NFL that liked him a lot, but their running game was just a potent kind of,
it was a group unit.
It's not like they had Christian McCaffir or Saquan-Barkley,
but led by Jane Daniels,
they were pretty,
and losing Echler,
I mean,
he was really good out of the backfield.
It just is a threat to catch the ball.
Like,
they're just not,
like,
their offense doesn't seem very well-rounded.
They can throw some bombs to Terry McLaren,
but that's about all they got.
And he's not even going to be in there this week.
Yeah.
It's nowhere close to the same unit.
They called lightning in a bottle last year.
And not to say Daniels is not going to be great,
but,
And this year looks like it's heading toward a loss season.
And the league is kind of, they're going to have to adjust because the league is
adjusted to a lot of what Cliff was doing with him last year.
And they've just been decimated by injuries.
Like, sometimes that's what happens and you lose a season because of it.
I mean, look no further than your 49ers.
I mean, I don't even trying to keep track of the 49ers who's playing.
Like, it's a full-time job.
I like last week they go in completely decimated and then like winters and Collins
Allie like all these other guys get hurt the the list of who's on IR and who's questionable
every week and then you don't even know it's starting a quarterback ever.
Well their team that at this point in time it's like just stay away from like I couldn't even bet them against the Giants because it's like I don't know I mean they
The Giants also a ton of injuries too well exactly but the other thing with the 49ers like they can lose guys
during the game.
So, like, all of a sudden it could be half-time.
It's like, oh, Kiddles out and McCaffrey is questionable to come back in.
So you just, at any moment, it could completely unravel.
They've, that's a game, that to me is a stayaway game.
Because, like, oh, the Giants suck, the Niners.
I don't know who's playing for the Niners.
Ricky Pearsall ain't.
Massive a game.
I agree.
It's, that game is funny.
I mean, credit to Kyle for getting into the five and three, but it's hard to see that.
If he wins nine games, it's pretty impressive.
Given the, you know, Purdy probably end up.
Like if you get some of the playoffs.
Yeah, I mean, I bet Purdy, I'd put his over-under game started this year, like, under four right now.
Like, it ain't looking pretty.
You know?
You don't think he plays this week?
You think it's Jones?
Yeah, just, and even if he does, like, I could see it being, like, testing it out.
Because this isn't a fixable thing, you know, it's not one of those.
So it's like, it's going to linger.
And if he can't run around, then you just go with Mac Jones is going to continue to start.
Like, if we saw Purdy against Jacksonville,
he was like 50% of himself.
And that's when it didn't even feel as bad,
clearly as it's felt lately.
I think there was a story out a couple weeks ago that,
who were they playing?
Oh, Atlanta.
He had tried,
he had done a workout earlier in the day on Sunday
because they had the night game.
And they were hoping,
like,
that would propel him into the following week
to get last week in Houston.
I don't think it felt good.
I mean, these fucking turf toes are,
he can't function.
So it's like,
I have,
if you tell me Purdy has just never seen the rest of the year,
I believe you.
I think the Niners just try to claw their way to nine-ish wins
and just see where the dust settles.
It would be an impressive season by Kyle.
Agreed.
Yeah, I think the best thing they could do is, yeah, clawing to the playoffs
and you get to see who of these young defenders.
Exactly.
Are worth keeping around and where your holes still exist.
Okay, we'll end with this game.
Monday night.
I don't know if when the schedule came out,
the schedule makers were smiling on this one,
like, yeah, we can't hit them all. Dallas hosts and the Cardinals. This feels like a game from
like when we were like in junior high, these teams, I feel like the Arizona Cardinals in Dallas,
they used to be in the same division. They used to play each other a lot. Yeah.
You know, back, uh, Plummer. Jay Plummer was probably the quarterback. Yeah, back in Tempe.
So, uh, I don't know. I mean, I guess if Kyler plays, he's never lost in the stadium, that'll be
something. This has a feel of Troy being pissed off in the booth, not because he's mad at any of
quarterbacks because he has to he has to call this game now granted it's probably an easy
travel for him he doesn't he just gets a drive right to the stadium but i don't know if you tell
i like the cardinals more if jacobie starting than if kailer's starting but this game's got
they got it's monday night or most people wouldn't be paying attention to this thing yep we're
all going to watch we know that so we can all complain about the matchup and then we'll all have it on
our TV.
So, and the NFL knows that.
They have us,
and they always will.
Like, honestly,
is there a matchup
that this Monday night
the NFL could put on
and you would not watch?
Like, let's say
Titans
host the Saints.
Are you watching?
Yeah.
Yeah. And they know that.
And I know that.
Now, I have to.
to that would be if I didn't do this for a living, let's say I was in the insurance world,
but love football as much as I love football, so I'm still watching a lot of games.
That could be one where if my wife was like, hey, you want to go get dinner?
You know, where you could, you know, there would be, like the bills are playing the chiefs.
I say no, the Titan Saints, like it can get bad enough.
If I didn't do this for a living, I would do other things.
Yeah.
If they became, if I was asked to do them.
Now, if I wasn't asked to do them, I would watch.
Yep. All right. Well, in regards to this game,
that's how college football works for me a little bit.
Like sometimes Saturday night, no way I'm missing this.
And sometimes like, yeah, we can go get dinner or whatever.
Got it. Yeah, in this regard to this game,
it's sitting right now pretty much used two and a half.
I want a three with Arizona.
Basically, I mean, Dallas's offense is a different animal at home.
They're a jargonaut at home.
Like, they're just going to scler.
they're just going to score in that dome indoors no matter who you are.
Now, Arizona's defense is going to be healthier here.
They've been dealing a lot of corner injuries.
They should be healthy on that front.
They do a good job of preventing explosive plays.
It's a well-schemed defense.
But Dallas is going to put up their points.
However, like, how is Arizona not going to score?
I don't even care if it's Marrier percent.
The offenses look better with Berset.
It doesn't matter.
It's the Dallas defense.
like the Dallas defense is and they have more injuries.
The Dallas defense made Bow Nicks look like Montana last week.
I mean, it is it is absolutely atrocious.
And so I think Arizona can keep up.
And I do think that there's so like if I could bet at Arizona and make Dallas beat me by, you know, more than three with their defense.
I'd be happy to do it because I think there is a difference.
a perception difference between like who Arizona is and then who they actually, you know, what people think they are.
Because this is a team that easily could be five and two.
Now they're two and five.
They lost five straight.
They start off the year two and oh.
They lose to San Francisco by one on the road because they dropped the wide impasse.
Easily could have been win, arguably should have been.
They lose to Seattle.
Probably got outplay.
They lost Seattle in the final play at the game because they messed up the kickoff.
They lose by three.
They lose to the Titans in one of the most bizarre losses.
you'll ever see because they dropped the ball going to the end zone,
and then there was an interception fumbled for a touchdown.
They lose by one.
Then they play two teams that everyone is saying are contenders with the Super Bowl.
They play at Indianapolis without their receivers,
still with defensive injuries with the percent starting.
They lose them only by four.
And then they played the Packers and only lose by four.
So they've had five losses in a row by a combined 13 points.
Like they're in every game.
It doesn't end.
Some of them have been at Indianapolis
has been blowing out of everybody
and against Green Day.
It was one of the best teams in the NFL,
in my opinion.
So like, they're going to be around in this game.
They're frisky.
They're coming off a buy.
They are well-steemed on defense.
You know that they have a better,
their point differential is minus one.
The 49ers at 5 and 3 is minus 4.
That's hilarious.
What are the,
well, the box probably built.
some last week. Yeah, the bucks are 19.
So, I mean, for a six and two team
with a plus 19, it's not great. You know, for
example, Seattle's, you know,
Seattle and the Rams are plus 57
and plus 58, right?
You know, the Broncos are plus 56.
Like most good teams, the Colts are
shit plus 116.
The Steelers are zero.
Yeah. That makes, that
just makes perfect sense.
So the point is, like, the difference between the Cardinals
and the Niners of five and three and two and five
is probably two or three total.
plays.
Yeah, which is what football is.
Which is the NFL.
Yeah.
That's all it is.
It's betting too.
I always tell people like, you bet on a football game.
And coaches the outcome of the game is usually determined by like four or five plays.
Your bet is usually determined by maybe four or five plays.
So a couple turnovers, did you get them or not?
Three or four or four downs that they go against you or not.
Those are enormous swinging plays.
Could be a field goal hitting the up.
upright or not.
You just have to love football.
You got to live with it.
Sometimes you're going to run so bad on all those things happening.
And then sometimes you're going to run really well.
And you won't even notice because you'll say like how is the right call.
But whenever all those are going against you, you're like, oh, my God.
But yeah, if I can get three here with Arizona, this team can play with anybody.
And this Dallas defense just offers no resistance whatsoever.
Arizona should be able to do whatever they want.
and at least should be an entertaining game.
It should be a lot of offense.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about...
what we should call it.
We were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band
before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing,
a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say,
Hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day
and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Keith Giamanka seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad, but secretly he became someone else,
a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea?
It seemed very crazy, but I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out.
Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like?
No.
I didn't want to manifest that.
I was trying to manifest success.
Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever
because everything that had existed prior in my reality
is now untrue.

Here's something
that should not be as complicated as it is,
getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something
that should be a whole lot easier than it is,
getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America,
there's going to be a politics
of remembering the Civil War.
To get to school, I had to go down
Robert Lee Boulevard.
to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job.
I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things.

We contain essence.
We contain spirit.
How do you represent that?
They are just fueling a fire.
That is really catching.
You'll see what I mean.

A couple quick college things before you get out of here.
We brought him up last week, and I just saw it now with the rules, like kind of fake little extension.
It makes his buyout a little bit more expensive, and he's also playing Nebraska.
I mean, he's playing USC this week, which he could lose at home.
The Jeff Brom is now the betting favorite to be the next.
coach or the Paul on Pauley market.
So like the,
I guess is that betting favorite or just where the odd market makes him?
Prediction market.
Yeah, prediction market.
So Jeff Brom is currently the favorite to be the Penn State Head coach.
He plays Virginia Tech this week, pretty big favorite.
Obviously, there was a story last week about Sark and he got pissed off that he was going to go to the NFL.
And his team barely pulled a game out of the crevices of his butt.
And now he plays Vandy where he's an underdog.
or I guess
Vandy's dead dog
Yeah small favorite at home
But I mean
Are you hammering Vandy in that spot?
I don't like
It's
I kind of like the under in that game
The Texas defense is super elite
I don't know if Archer is going to play
I think he is though
So if you like Vandy
And Vandy's a machine
As an underdog under Pavia
I do think that line
Is that 2 and a half
Now is going to get to like 3 3 and a half
Texas has one of the best safeties
in the country too. He wasn't supposed to play
this week. He practiced yesterday. I think he's also going to play.
And this is
like Texas's season.
Like they need this game.
Vanny surprisingly doesn't.
You know, now if they don't win.
If Texas loses Stucky, they got like 7 to 5
written all over them too.
Yeah, they're done. Now, Vandy, if they lose this game,
they will have to win out.
And it might be a game at Tennessee
to end the year to see who goes to the playoff
between those two teams.
that would be electric. I think that's at the
own stadium. But this is a tough spot for
Bandy. Like they just went, you know, this is their
four. Do they normally play that game like Texas, Texas A&M
or, you know, Michigan, Ohio stays at the last game of the season?
Yeah, but usually just haven't noticed. Yeah.
Sanesthesia is a huge favorite. I mean, it means something in the state, but
it's like the Big Bowl, like whatever, Auburn, Bama, they play that week.
I've never even noticed. Yeah. I mean, most people wouldn't,
it's usually a completely irrelevant game.
That's pretty sick.
That'll be a big moment in Tennessee history, like the state.
I think, like, there is a good chance that that's an elimination game.
We're playing game depending on how you look at.
Especially if Tennessee wins this weekend, huh?
Yeah.
Now, if Tennessee loses, yeah, they're probably done.
And then they could knock out, Vandy Ben.
I actually like Oklahoma in that game, catching three.
I think it's going to be a close game.
Tennessee's offense has played.
Like, there are wins in the SEC have come against three.
teams who are 0 and 13 in the SEC. They have not faced a top elite elite. The Bama's defense
this year is not elite. George's defense is not elite. And if you look at like sacrate pressure
rate, all the teams they face, there's only one in the top 50 in Sacramento. They're 45th. Oklahoma's
number one, Zachary, number one in havoc. So like Aguilar gets in trouble when you can pressure
him. I think the Oklahoma defense is going to come to play here. I'm taking a few of it. It's going to be
close, though. It's going to be an electric avenue. If Metteer hadn't got hurt and been playing at a
level. I mean, there's a decent chance Oklahoma's undefeated
right now. He got injured and then he just turned
into a different quarterback. Yeah, and he
looked a little healthier last week. They found a run
game recently. Kind of fell apart down the stretch a little bit. Could have been
rust, I thought. Yeah.
They're hard to rate. I will admit
that. Like, I don't know, like,
I still, I'm holding them up because I'm
giving, I gave them a pass for the Texas game because
material obviously shouldn't have been out there.
And then he was still like recovering.
So they're, they're difficult to rip, but the
Tennessee defense is very bad.
It does look like their best corner, Colton Hood,
their only good corner is going to play.
But they're missing their two who are going to start.
Ricky Gibson and Jamal McCoy is probably going to be a first from Dripick.
They haven't played all year because of injury.
They really miss them.
But you can move the ball on this Tennessee offense.
I mean, like Kentucky had their quarterback last week,
got five touchdown passes and everyone's moving the ball up into them on the field.
So I think the difference will be Oklahoma's defense,
but should be a good game. Vandy, I think wait on it. I do think it'll be lower scoring.
But this is Vandy's like fourth huge game in a row for a team that's not used to like those efforts.
And this is Texas's season at home. But wait on that for Vandy. Because I do think that Arch will get ruled in and Taff.
And then it'll probably close it three or above. And then what is the other game you asked about?
Was that it?
Yeah, that was pretty much. I mean, the other two.
I wrote down, USC at Nebraska
and Louisville is a pretty big favorite
at Votte Tech with Jeff Brom getting a lot of love.
Yeah, but I would love, I think Penn State would do great to I think he's
one of the most underrated coaches in the country.
And he wins more big games than anyone.
He has more top five upsets than anybody.
That's what Penn State's been missing.
He's an amazing game player, an amazing play caller.
You saw that against Miami.
What's a knock on him?
Like, not a huge personality, right?
Yeah.
And not a great, like, the recruiting, like, he's going to need to get someone to do
that.
Louisville's been building their teams in the portal pretty much every year.
Which, like, if you're...
He's not Dan Lannning or Ryan Day out there, like hammering the pavement.
Exactly.
And, like, if you want to be who Penn State wants to be, like, Ohio State is not building their team in the portal every year, right?
Like, they're supplementing their team, but the same with Oregon.
But the best, and that's what the best teams are going to be moving forward.
The most consistent is that you have a pipeline and...
You're basically like, well, I'm hiring you to beat Ohio State in Oregon.
Yes.
Yeah.
But I do think it would be a good hire.
Or compete or just compete with them, you know.
Fair.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, I mean, maybe it's not the best fit for who Penn State wants to be.
Yeah.
But I do think whoever hires him.
He is a great coach.
No, I think the line's about right at Bot Tech.
USC Nebraska, no idea.
You have Matt Ruhl, who's 018 against ranked teams.
And then you have Lincoln Riley.
Maybe he just needs to go to Lincoln.
maybe did his namesake.
Lincoln Riley, his teams can't win on the road against anyone with a pulse when they travel
East.
USC might miss their backs here, but like this Nebraska team has not been that impressive this year.
You know, they barely pulled out some wins.
They got embarrassed at Minnesota.
I thought that was a really poor effort.
So I don't know.
I don't have a bet in either, but we'll certainly be tuned in.
Was there any other game I wanted to mention?
Florida.
This could be a big week.
I've gotten deep this week on the message boards,
Reddits, and local podcasts.
Oklahoma, their schedule,
they could fall apart here.
And there's been some buzz that Venables might not be safe
and go after the hometown hero,
Josh Heipel, make him a big offer.
Like there's,
and then all of a sudden if Josh Heipel went to Oklahoma in a couple months,
that would mean Tennessee was open.
Texas, I don't think that story was just,
You know, Diane has been doing this long enough.
I don't think she just completely made that up.
Made it up on a thin air, yeah.
Yeah, clearly the Sark thing's a little weird.
And you go seven and five and you have an unlimited budget,
like Ohio State, Texas, they were just never going to tolerate that.
So who's to say Vandy?
All of a sudden, what if Vandy beats them by double digits?
Clark Lee, it's like, hey, they hit struck oil years ago getting,
what's his name from North Carolina, more academic, good guy.
would Clark Lee make some sense of Texas?
You know?
So who's Clark Lee's agent?
Jimmy Sexton.
So it's like there's a lot going on in the college football world with some of these guys.
I mean, I think Clark Lee could really establish himself like, hey, guys, I'm doing this in the S.E.
fucking C.
So it's like we're, some are all in some of these guys.
It doesn't get any harder than what I'm doing.
He could become like one beat of lane.
You start rattling off some of the, because what he's doing is it's crazy.
year than Signetti because of the teams he's beating now.
Like he's just working LSU?
You know, it's like that's, he's just going to work Texas?
Like, that's where he just wins a game like that against Missouri that's a slug fest.
Like, this is pretty crazy.
It really is.
Yeah, this team used to be a complete doormat.
Like literally.
Even Sabin's like, okay, I'm just going to change my tune.
I've been used to something.
It's no longer the case.
Yeah, there would be like 28, 35-100 dogs in conference play.
like just a complete freebie.
That's why Jane Franklin got Penn State, right?
It's like, how did he just do that at Vanderbilt?
Yeah, yeah.
They used at home games where like you would, it would be just empty,
but then sections of the opposing fan basis.
Like it was, so it's good to see like that stadium now packed and jukechews
on the program.
And they're putting real money and resources into the program now,
now that they have NIL, because before it was like just an academic institution.
They couldn't compete.
They weren't paying guys under the table.
They couldn't build anything.
Now with NIL, they're able to do that.
And Clark Lee has been a huge part of that.
Yeah, the coaching carousel is nuts this year.
Like, where's Lane go?
That's going to be a huge domino if he leaves.
Do you have Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Penn State, like, South Carolina might be open,
VATEC, which is now way down the list.
Do you think Van der Boas is safe?
No.
Like, there's just no patience now with all the,
money that's here.
I don't know where all this money called.
It's insane. Like, they're just...
$50 million buyout, like these $50 million buyouts.
I wish someone would pay me $50 million to go.
I know. I do this for the love of it.
But it's...
All of a sudden, the lacrosse team's not going to have cleats.
You know, they're going to go in their locker room.
It's like, that's just going to start happening.
Yeah, so the coaching carousel is going to be nuts to watch this all season.
I did bet some Florida plus seven and a half against Georgia.
you got a new like napier out they're gonna they're changing some things on that offense the defense
is still really good it'll be healthy this week they were without all their debacks against
mississippi state coming out of the buy i think that they can get they can jump on georgia early
and this georgia defense is not your older brother's dogs like they're outside the top
hundred and pressure rate sac rate they're not they don't have a ton of your regular dudes up front
so lagway's going to have time they have weapons on the outside and georgia has started
started slow every game this year. In five SEC games, they've trailed by a total of 56 to 10
combined at the end of the first quarter. That's crazy. They had to come back against Ole Miss.
They were almost down 17-0 against Auburn without that blown call. They had to come back against
Alabama. They had to come back against Tennessee. They usually could have a couple more losses.
Now, what you can do if you do bet Florida or even if you don't, is if Georgia does
go, indeed go down, look at Georgia live. Kirby Smart, the best in-game adjuster in the sport.
This happens over and over again, where if he's down, some adjustments that he makes,
he figures out some of the new things, the new wrinkles that Florida is going to be using,
and then Georgia inevitably comes back. So that's always worth a look. He's, he's won the multiple
games this year with his in-game adjustments. Well, looking at the odds to win the national
championships. Obviously, Ohio State
heavy favorite.
Is A&M a little undervalued at
9 to 1? I mean, the
talents they have on that team is just like,
geez, Louise, their coaches big time.
I'd argue Notre Dame, too.
I mean, they proved last
year. I mean, when you have defense,
I mean, A&M had three pass rushers
that all look like Vaughn Miller. They have abs.
They're screaming. I mean,
when they were screaming at LSU's guys,
I could imagine every dude
that's ever played for LSU, especially in the last
like 25 years, you had to just be embarrassed.
You're like, that's what we used to do to people.
Now, this guy's barking to our guy, and you're like,
there's no way that guy's going to block him,
and then he couldn't touch him.
I mean, he barely could touch him.
As the guy's coming around the corner like Vaughn Miller, I went,
I haven't watched that much A&M,
but you were like a year early.
You liked him to make the playoffs last year.
In their quarterback situation, this guy is way better than he was last year,
and defensively, I mean, those pass rushers,
Holy shit.
Yeah, Cash is hell.
He's a player.
I mean, Ellis, he was also,
they were starting on a backup center at tackle.
He had no shot.
It was bad.
But, yeah, I actually think A&M's the best team in the SEC.
I think they're slightly better than Alabama.
Like, the Alabama, like, if you think about it,
everyone's like, oh, like Alabama,
arguably could have lost to Georgia, right?
Georgia has a drop that would have won the game.
They arguably could have lost the South Carolina last week.
Arguably, they should have.
I mean, they were.
They got a pick six early that game that just bounced
right into their hands.
Like everything, they got a fumble late to seal the game against Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt, a couple red zone turnovers, but that game was back and forth.
So, like, you know, and they lost the Florida State earlier this year.
It's not a super, it's a very good team.
Now, this year, I think the potentially super elite team is only Ohio State.
Indiana might not be too far behind.
But I think a team that could potentially, because you're going to need to score,
you're going to need a dynamic offense to beat Ohio State.
I think Texas A&M is one of the handful that might have that.
And they're well coached.
They have good special teams.
And the most important thing to me is they're elite in the trenches.
They have one of the best offensive lines in college football,
their defensive line, as you mentioned, with Hound Company,
they can get after the quarterback.
Now there's some deficiencies in the back end,
but I trust Elko to continue to improve that defense.
He's more hands-on this year.
But yeah, with that offense, with their running game,
their receivers, Concepcion, Graver,
and the way that Reed is playing,
if I had about one national title future at like current odds,
that's probably what I would look at.
I love Elko, too.
It's like, you know, you see DeBoer.
He clearly, you know, got the, got the old jab to lose some LBs
over the last several years and looks way skinnier than he once did.
Elko's just your classic kind of throwback.
I don't give a shit.
I'm eating pizza and Copenhagen and just, and coffee and film.
We don't have enough Elko's roaming around.
I mean, you look, Ryan Day is like dying his beard.
Freeman's never taking a day off the weight room.
It's like, I appreciate Elko.
Yeah, he's definitely a throwback.
Yeah, his diet is more film.
Big time.
Film, pizza coffee.
Okay, Stucky, let's enjoy the weekend, and I will talk to you next week.
All right, brother.
Have a good one.

We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know.
Tired and sick.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite, unhumored me with Robert Smok.
and friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the I-HeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Sike, I'm a comedian.
I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant,
recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me.
This is Help from a Hypocrite,
