This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smygel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host Keer Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor.
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
Listen and learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
The volume.
All right, guys, hey, it's the boy DC, your favorite podcaster and also a role partner.
And of course, fellas, when you're in or you're out of the bedroom with your partner or that significant other,
you have got to satisfy their needs as you try to satisfy it.
Your needs. It's so important. Hey, the one thing about Roe. When you're in the bedroom,
our guys at Rose Sparks, they got your back. With his long-lasting functionality,
Rose Sparks are a two-and-one prescription treatment for guys who want more controlled erections.
And it doesn't take long either, because after they dissolve, they work in about 15 minutes on
average. It's because the pills dissolve under the tongue and go directly into the bloodstream.
Roe connects guys with medical providers 100% online.
So you don't have to waste time in the waiting room.
And if approved, treatment ships directly to your door.
For me, honestly, it's a no-brainer.
Roe is a must have guys.
Trust me, new sex health patients get $15 off of their first order of Roe Sparks
on the recurring plan.
So connect with a provider at R-O-D-T-C-O-D-C-O-D-C-T-V.
row.co slash DC TV to find out if prescription row sparks is right for you.
Guys, that's R-O-V-O-T-C-O-T-O-C-O-S-D-C-O-S-D-C-T-V for $15 off for your first order.
Hey, get them Roe Sparks.
I'm telling you they work.
What's up, guys, this Wednesday, July 9th,
and welcome to a brand-new episode of Three Rounds with Daniel Cormier,
presented by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of U.S.
have seen her in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down.
Hey, turn the volume up in my earpiece.
Turn the volume up in my earpiece.
Because look, I hit him last week, body shot, body shot, body shot.
I ate his ass up.
But he came back.
D Thomas back for another fight D.
I mean, you came back.
Hey, I'm back, baby.
I might have went down for a little bit, but I'm back for the rematch, man.
Bring it.
Let's go.
Let me tell you.
So this dude right here, Dean, and thank you guys all for watching.
Dean came prepared to fight last week, but as you guys know, I'm always ready to go three rounds
with Dean Thomas, Chris Wyden, you, Dominic Cruz.
It don't matter who steps up to the plate or who steps in this octagon with me.
When it's talking, the boy D.C. is ready for a fight.
So let's go.
Round one, Dean, John Jones, retired a couple of weeks.
weeks ago. Said he was done. No longer is he ready to fight in the UFC. But then on July 4th,
a tweet comes out. I have just re-entered the Usada testing pool. Figured we keep everyone's
options open. What was your initial thought when you heard that from John Jones?
My initial thought when I heard that was this dude just love attention. He love attention.
He's just trying to keep his name out there. He love attention. He like dangling his status over our
head and I hate it. I'm going to tell you right now, man, I don't give a fuck if John Jones
ever fights again. I don't care, man. He's the greatest to ever do it for sure. He's great.
He's super great. But I don't care if he ever fights again. Just sit off and ride off into the
Sunday. You know, it was sunset. You know what I care about? I care about Ilya
Justin Porrier. The dudes is out there putting their life on the line for us. I care about
those dudes. John Jones, I don't care if he fights again. Okay. So my initial thought was why? Why?
So I figured he was trolling.
I thought he was trolling.
I thought he was messing with the fans,
kind of giving him a hard time
because he knew how much they wanted him to fight.
Tom Aspinall, but then he didn't.
And he says, you know what?
This don't mean enough to me.
I'm done.
My biggest issue is,
why are you playing with people's emotions?
It seemed like that's something he's been doing
quite a bit lately.
Now, I will say this.
Dean, we have not seen John Jones fight often.
And I don't like,
you put me.
in a very uncomfortable position because you say stuff like you don't care about fights again.
I don't want to be the guy.
Don't make me be the guy that's like, well, we need John Jones.
You try to do this shit to me on purpose.
No, no, you can agree with me on this.
I mean, you said it.
I read the news lines, man.
You said it you wanted to see him fight at the White House.
Yeah, that would be kind of cool, right?
If we need an American to go to fight at the White House, yeah, John Jones is the guy probably.
But, man, I just don't like when these dudes, we spent a year and a half talking about him not fight.
A year and a half.
I'm like, yo, just ride off, dog.
You had two great Hall of Fame careers.
Just ride off into the sunset.
Stop playing with our emotions, man.
I'm tired of it.
Hey, you know, so John Jones had the 205 pound career that was Hall of Fame.
John Jones had a heavyweight career way champ, defended the belt.
Hall of Fame.
John Jones is like the last person we saw that had two careers that were Hall of Fame
where it was Barry Bonds.
Barry Bonds in Pittsburgh was a Hall of Fame.
Barry Bonds in San Francisco
was a Hall of Famer,
but he's not in the Hall of Fame.
So my question to you is,
when he walked away, John Jones,
he comes back,
does he get,
I mean,
he gets into the Hall of Fame,
right?
Barry Bonds is not in the Hall of Fame
because of all the drug stuff.
John Jones is going into the Hall of Fame,
right?
He's going into the Hall of Fame.
I mean,
I know it's hard to say that,
but he's going into the Hall of Fame.
I know he's got so many different transgressions,
the drug stuff,
his personal life is all,
like,
you don't,
I mean,
obviously you don't want to roll,
use him as a role model for your kids.
Yeah. But what he's done inside the octagon is definitely
Hall of Fameworthy. You can never take that away from him.
He's Hall of Fameworthy. But I'm not telling my son
to look up to him as a role model. Put it down.
So, Dean, you said you don't care if he fights again.
But you're telling me that if Tom Aspinall and John Jones comes back,
because here's the deal. If John Jones says, I'm fighting again,
it has to be Tom Aspinall. How in the world can you say,
I'm not really buying into that.
Is it just because he's been gone so long
that you just push it out of your mind?
Has it become like Connor McGregor?
It's become like Conno McGregor.
It's the Conno McGregor thing.
Now, if John Jones came back,
signed on the dotted line that he was fighting Tom Aspinall,
yeah, I'd be excited for it.
I'd be in the front row to watch it.
But the fact that he's dangling this carrot
over our head about fighting,
it completely is despicable.
Like, just leave, man.
Just leave it?
I mean, is it really for attention?
Does he need attention?
bad. It feels like, it feels like that, right? It feels like...
Connor does that. Him and Connor both do that. Every big moment, they kind of attach
themselves to the story to try to make sure that their name stays relevant. And I agree.
I don't like that. I don't love that so much when guys do that, when the story should be about
the active fighters. But if he decides he wants to fight, sure, I don't think he has to have an option
but to fight that guy, though. He said it's good to be the hunter now and not to hunt it. I don't
think it changes anything. He's still the champion, right? He walked away with a belt.
He's still the champion. He walked away. I mean, and you can't take away what he's done in his
career. It's Hall of Fameworthy. John Jones is the greatest ever, but make a decision and leave
it at that. Yeah, make a decision, leave it at that. Don't keep rolling around playing with our
emotions and the fans' emotions because you know they want to see your fight. So you either fight or
you hit the door. Dean and I actually agree, even though I just said it much nicer than my man, Dean Thomas.
I'm experienced.
Round two.
All right, Dean.
Alex Pereira just turned 38 years old.
Alex Pereira has been a world win of a fighter in the UFC.
He's been an amazing ambassador for the UFC.
He's been the most active champion for the UFC.
Ultimately, though, he just lost his championship.
And as you age, it gets a little more difficult to keep up what he was doing in terms of performances.
So my question of you, Dean, is, is it too late for hours?
Alex, or can Alex Pereira at this age still recapture what made him such a lightning bolt of
energy and positivity in mixed martial arts?
There's no one in MMA harder on older fighters than I am.
I've said it about Kamar Ushman and all these other guys as they get older.
I've said it's too late for him.
But I think Alex Bahra is the exception in this case for a couple of different reasons.
first off, I think he's got a style that limits or that actually helps him in terms of his age.
He doesn't move his feet a lot.
He doesn't wrestle a lot.
And he's just got power the guy is running into.
So he's not putting a lot of wearing chair on his body in training probably.
And he definitely doesn't put a lot of wearing chair on his body during fights.
Secondly, he is in top three worst divisions in the UFC.
Top three worst divisions in the UFC.
Really?
Which means.
which means that all he's got to do is probably not even fight again.
He should probably get an immediate rematch
because there's no one else in the division really that warrants a rematch
or a fight against Magamette and Goliath.
So what are the top, what are the worst divisions in the UFC, D?
Light heavyweight.
So I'd say light heavyweight is the three, is the number three.
Then I would say heavyweight and then I would say women's ban them weight.
Really?
You think those are the three words division?
Kayla Harrison is the champion.
there. Yeah, and she, I mean, she came in and just beat everybody up in, like, seconds.
So, I mean, it's the worst, it's the three worst divisions in the UFC.
Light heavyweight, heavyweight, and women's band and weight.
So Alex Bahadah at 38 can still go out there and win a championship and still defend it
probably three more times.
So my thing with Alex Ferrer is, right?
I don't understand how a guy who had such a long kickboxing career doesn't carry more
of the damage that you sustain in that type of environment,
especially when it's all striking, right?
Alex Ferreira was a world champion kickboxer,
and he doesn't, bro, when you met, when I met Shogun,
and I met Nogera, those guys, they were walking.
Like, they had the longest careers of all time.
You know, them dudes are like in their,
they were in their early 30s.
Bro, Jose, Aldo's, like, 34 years old.
But he, like, he carries the year,
of competition. It doesn't seem like
Rura has that. I don't understand
it either. Honestly, I saw Minneton
at the fights a couple weeks ago.
He's my age. He looked like he was in his
early hundreds. I was like, how's this
dude? How was this dude my age?
I mean, he was, he gave me
a little deadfish handshake. He looked crippled.
Hard, hard careers.
And hard training and hard sport. Remember the
stories that we were to hear about those guys back
in the day? And I had the, I trained
with that guy when he was younger. Those were some
hard training sessions. And those
take a toll on you. Pereh hasn't seemed
to have that. Now, he got knocked out bad
versus Edison. That was a
that one is very damaging.
But outside of that,
right, even the Ancolaev fight,
he didn't take that much damage. He got controlled.
But my question to you is this, right?
Does he get an immediate
rematch or does he want the immediate rematch?
Because how much better
can he fight against Ankulayev
than he did the last one? Because
Ankulayev never took him down.
I know. You're right about that. I mean, that's kind of the big question. Can he do something different?
I'm not sure he can do anything different. But I do think that maybe he's just, he's always one punch away from changing the course of the fight.
So that's why I think that if you give him another 25 minutes against Anka Lave, he might find that punch.
And I think that's his best chance of winning that fight is to be able to find that punch.
I think he should get an immediate rematch because I don't trust as much as I like Khalil Roundtree, as dangerous as he is, that abysmal.
performance he had in, where was it,
in Azerbaijan against Jamal Hill.
That despicable performance.
I mean, he won the fight.
You thought it was a terrible performance for ABC.
I thought when you go out there, you get a, this,
they play college football at that time.
You're supposed to go out there and show out.
I thought, but he dominated Jamal Hill.
You got, you got to, you got to do a little more.
So I don't think he deserves a shot at the title.
I say give it to Alex Pahara.
Yeah, give Pereira another opportunity.
or, hell, put Yuri in there and maybe Yuri gets past Ancolaia.
But Pereira, I believe even at 38, is still very, very valuable to this weight division.
Round three, Dean.
Sean Strickland is a lightning rod for information.
So now he's kind of getting into it with Dan Henderson,
a great legend from mixed martial arts history, he said,
you know, he got in a little argument matches with some of the guys
that thought he was going too hard.
Dan talking about practice.
He said, then he would go to.
online and talk shit about him. And he did it a little bit too much. It just more socially.
I didn't care what happened in the room. When you send it out to everybody to hear all that
shit, it's disrespectful for your training partners, guys that are in there training with you
to help you out as well. He just did it too many times. I warned him a bunch. Finally, I said,
hey, dude, you're done. You've got to go. Sean replied on the Overdog's Instagram page.
He said, none of it's true. I was Dan's main training partner for his last fight. He retired the
fight team fell off and when it was time to renew my membership I left but he is correct I would make
fun of the fight team constantly they would do yoga and skip sparring laugh out loud I'm talking Keith
bear I'm talking about you funny thing is we're both at extreme culture now and we spar regularly
what do you make of all this for Sean Strickland I think it's depressing actually really I really do
think it's depressing to hear Sean Strickland talk like this because the stories you hear about
Sean Strickland from every high-level guy that I know that's ever worked with him, said that
he's like the best guy in a room. And I believe that he could possibly be the best 185-pound
fighter in the world right now if he put his energy into actually fighting in the big fights.
Dean, I got to say this. I got to say this. I got to say this. I like Sean Strickland.
I think he's an amazing fighter. But after watching the last Drake's fight, I cannot allow you to
sit up on this and say he's the best 185 pounds. That's my point. No, listen. No.
That's my point.
No, that's my point.
I'm not doing it.
That's my point.
If he put the same amount of energy
that he does on fighting YouTubers
and having beef with other people,
if he put that energy into fighting the top contenders
in the big fights,
he would be winning.
But he doesn't do that.
But he still fights hard,
but the drink has just shut him down
completely the last time.
Look, I don't like Jim's stories getting out.
Like, there's one of the oldest rules
in all the mixed martial arts.
and I don't even know where it started.
They have some things that are said time and time again
that just don't make sense.
Like to be the man, you got to beat the man.
If you win a belt, you got to defend it to be a champion.
All that is nonsense.
Once you get that belt, you're a champ.
You don't have to beat the man to be the man.
That was Rick Flair.
That was a professional wrestling.
Shit don't matter.
But when the man, somebody said,
what happens in the gym stays in the gym,
that's true.
Because you see people get knocked out.
You see some bad stuff inside of a gym
that you don't want to let the world know
because you want to protect your training
partners. So I got to agree with Henderson
here. I also saw Sean
Strickland getting to a fight
with a guy that choked out
one of his teammates in the
in a smaller
shot that was tough enough. Chris
Curtis was involved too. Dean,
when is it enough? It's enough.
I mean, that's my point.
If he would take that energy,
if he had that energy against DDP
in the fight with DDP,
he'd still have a belt. That's why I'm saying
it's depressing. It's just the
that he's so in the weeds right now.
He can't see the big picture because when his career is over,
he's going to look back and do, damn.
Like he can't see it right now.
He's a knucklehead.
And I'm sure Eric Nixick tells him all the time,
hey, man, you got to focus on your career,
focus on doing the right things because you're letting these dudes
beat you and you're better than them.
It's despicable.
It felt like last fight was the first time I saw him
and Eric not on the same page.
Because for everything that Sean was,
and I've had some great moments.
I interview him every time he fights.
We've had some great moments talking about stealing from Walmart
and all kind of stuff.
But like he is,
he usually is pretty locked in in those regards.
But last time was the first time I felt like him and Eric weren't on the same page in that fight.
I don't like seeing pros going into fights,
especially UFC caliber guys, world champions,
fighting with guys on the smaller level because they beat the team.
I don't know what happened in that situation.
But you as an elite mixed martial artists,
especially a UFC champion,
you got to be the guy that takes the high road
because we always have to take the high road.
I'm constantly getting disrespectful.
I know, man.
That used to bother me, D.C., I ain't going to lie to you, man.
I know you, you my dog.
I know we go on here, we go back and forth,
but you're my dog, man.
And I feel disrespectful when people forget how good you were
and how much of an imprint you have on the game.
I'm disrespectful by that.
And you're right.
Sean Strickland needed to take the high road on that
and just let it go
because he's supposed to be the man.
When you saw that, what are you thinking?
Like, those guys are fighting in the oxygen.
We're the guy that just fought.
You got to at least respect the guy enough to know that he just fought a fight.
Exactly.
But for me, I'm more through thinking like,
where was that guy in the third round against Dreykis?
Why you just jabbing against Dreykis?
Yeah, you're throwing big right hands on a dude who just had a fight.
Well, you got to be careful, right?
You got to be careful.
Sometimes whenever you are the biggest baddest, right?
Because he does fight with YouTubers and he does beat up on professional mixed martial artist.
You got to be very careful when you meet that match.
that you're ready to step up to the challenge.
I think Sean Strickland is a tremendous fighter.
I think he's got to reel it in a little bit, though,
because it seems to be going off the rails.
I mean, hell, go back and watch the interview he did with Laura Sanko.
That was uncomfortable.
Let's get it together, Sean Strickland.
You know, it's the summer.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential.
title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Now for my final thought.
Guys, UFC Chicago.
Hamzaa Chamaev is supposed to fight Drake's Duplice.
Not even a month ago.
There were rumors that Hamzat Shemayev was injured,
that he was not going to be in Chicago.
Guess what?
He's going to Chicago.
I saw him training with Coach Kalavita in the garage down in Los Angeles.
And if you're training with that man, there is nothing wrong.
with you because the way that he pushes his athletes, the way that he works him to exhaustion,
the way that he really does test you mentally physically, that means you cannot be injured.
And if Hamzaa Timae was to have any issue with Drake is Duplasia, as we saw, with Gilbert
Burns and Kamar Ouzmant, it would be the longer fight in the cardio. There's a guy that can get
him ready. It is Coach Cal. It seems like he's doing all the right things. But hold on a minute.
You do not look past DDP. Time and time again, people want to disrespect this young man.
He is a dominant champion, and he intends to get the job done again at UFC 319 down in Chicago.
I can't wait.
I was so bummed when I heard that that fight may be canceled.
But now that I know Chamaev's here, Chamaev's in the United States, it's all systems go.
And there's nothing better in terms of that thought to me as a guy to get synched to the octagon.
Boy, it's going to be good.
I cannot wait for USC 319.
Dean, thank you again for coming on.
Bro, I love challenging.
I love going back and forth with you.
It's amazing.
I love this concept.
I love having you on the show.
Thank you, Dino.
My man, always.
You're the man.
Guys, until next time, like, subscribe, and tell your friends to tell their friends that D.C.'s got a YouTube channel.
I'm doing things like three rounds, check-ins, and so much more every single week.
Until next time, peace.
Hey, and also, Ben Ascran, got his lung transplants, guys.
so he's on the mend.
I hope to have an update for you guys next week on Ben.
But I spoke to Amy recently,
and they were very happy and thankful
for all the love and support you guys have given them
and also for the people and the families that donated the lungs
that are now allowing Ben to start his road to recover.
So again, until next time, peace.
Hey, guys, it's us and the Jonas Brothers.
I'm Joe. I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know,
tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to D.
David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest,
SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band
with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform? We do some retirement
homes. Those people are starving
for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio
app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is
not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's
unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, what's good, y'all?
You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host care games.
This space is about black men's experiences.
having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere,
but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor.
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to,
listen to learn the hard way on the IHard radio app, Apple Podcast,
or wherever you get your podcast.
This is an IHart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
