We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Wreck, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?

today we're packed it's a great college football weekend it's a great NFL weekend enjoy taylor's
joining me. I'm all fired up today. It is, it is looking like an amazing weekend, despite all of the
injuries that we're seeing porn. How long have you been in this business, Joy? Uh, 12 years.
12 years. What if the first year, as you were, like, go back to your first year, you made a
decision that you wanted to as you were becoming a broadcaster. Those first couple years are rocky.
They were for me. You decided, while I'm doing this, I want to build my brand. I'm going to do a lot of
social media. I'm going to be very active. Do you think that would have helped? Do you think that would have
your broadcasting part.
No.
Exactly.
Exactly.
That's why Tom Brady
didn't have a brand for 10 years.
He was just winning Super Bowls.
And Kobe Bryant didn't have a brand
for seven to eight years.
He was just Kobe Bryant.
Baker Mayfield decided
simultaneously as he's learning
the game at the pro level,
I'm going to be in 48 commercials.
Look at his Twitter the last month.
They're all commercials,
all shot in the offseason.
Joe Thomas is the best Cleveland football player in 20 years.
When LeBron James left Cleveland, you can't criticize Baker.
You can't question Baker.
The Steinbrenner's left.
The Rockefeller's left.
LeBron left.
People leave Cleveland.
They don't come from all over the world with that being the destination, like
Galeigh or New York or Paris or London.
They leave Cleveland.
And LeBron left and Baker's the guy.
So criticism will not be taken well.
But Joe Thomas acknowledges the Baker he has seen early this year is concerning.
The fact that the ball is not coming out in rhythm is surprising and unsettling to me.
We saw Baker Patton the football trying to push the ball down the field.
The ball was not coming out on time, even the times that some of the big plays were being made.
It didn't seem like it was happening within rhythm.
Yeah, maybe it was the marriage this year, which is awesome, but there were 350 people.
I've been married.
That takes up a lot of time.
Or the 13 commercials.
Or the three or four massive magazine portfolio interviews, which took multiple days.
You know what Lamar Jackson did this offseason?
Because I just looked at Lamar Jackson's neck and arms and body.
Joy and I in the pre-show meeting.
Lamar Jackson got 10 pounds bigger.
There's a reason Lamar went from, I'm not sure to.
Holy hell, what's that?
Because he didn't get distracted this offseason.
We never saw Lamar Jackson this offseason.
I watched these NFL games.
I see Baker Mayfield on commercials.
He's not even in a game.
He has 13 of them.
He chose the route, which I don't believe is the route joy and I should take.
Be great.
Then worry about your brand.
He's not great yet.
He's not, frankly, through two games even good yet.
Right now, Lamar Jackson's the better NFL quarterback.
Winning, passer rating, touchdown quarterback interception ratio.
Lamar Jackson's significantly better.
And Lamar Jackson didn't spend the offseason shooting 19 modeling things
and having 14 articles and 19 commercials.
This is why I said with Baker Mayfield.
I'm not saying he didn't practice, but then you throw in the fact that OBJ missed some camp
and he missed some practices.
That's not ideal.
and then Freddie Kitchens was right in your hip.
He was your guy.
And then now Freddie becomes the head coach.
So Freddie's got to coach the team and he's not your valet anymore.
And the fact that last year you played seven of the worst defenses in the NFL in the NFL.
And this year you're playing six of the best past defenses in the NFL.
So the schedule is harder and the expectations are huge.
And Baker's Wong, I'm going to build my brand while I get good.
And I don't believe in this.
And I said it going out.
I never like Mark Sanchez doing all the modeling stuff.
Get good at football.
Get good at broadcasting.
Worry about your brand after you got a few, you know, pelts.
Tom Brady's first seven years, I think he had one big commercial.
It was a Visa commercial.
He sat at a table with a bunch of offensive linemen.
He did an Uggs commercial.
But Tom Brady didn't really have a brand until about four or five years ago.
After Tom won the Atlanta Super Bowl, Tom said, okay, now I'm going brand heavy.
And he does.
He did the documentary, but you can do that after like five, six Super Bowls.
Kobe Bryant's for seven, eight years, even as a Laker, Kobe Bryant, he was a basketball guy.
And then Kobe started doing a lot of international stuff, the China trip, selling shoes.
That's good.
You got rings.
Baker's not even a good NFL quarterback yet.
So Joe Thomas is like, yeah, it's kind of disturbing.
It's not unpredictable.
Rookie head coach, tougher defenses, 13 commercials, 9 magazine,
articles, getting into fights with talk show hosts that America loves me. That's outrageous.
And he didn't get married and I think marriage is cool. But I would have said if I was him
to all these commercials, because I'm already making a fortune. I was like, you know, a top pick.
I've already got to get millions. I would have said, I've got to be honest with you.
I'm getting married. And it's a really important thing for my life. And my wife's amazing.
And I have to invite 350 people. And the only routes I'm going to be running this year are
going to be between the florist and the caterer this off season.
and maybe the wedding photographer, because weddings are awesome,
and I love this moment for Baker Mayfield.
But a wedding is time-consuming and hard.
Add 13 commercials, a bunch of big articles.
Freddie Kitchens now the headcoats, not your ballet.
OBJ is kind of there.
This is not unpredictable.
This is why I don't believe in –
occasionally, I'm going to go speak at the Cronkite School of Journalism
at Arizona State here in the next few months.
I do a couple of these a year.
And when I go and speak to all these young people, I'm like,
before you're cocky on the internet, get good,
before you're snarky and cool on the internet and eliminate jobs,
because I've literally watched the internet and said,
okay, I'll never hire that guy, never hire that guy, never hire that woman.
Why don't you get good before you get cocky?
Why don't you get good before you have a brand?
Why don't you worry about being a pro, a committed teammate,
like Lamar Jackson, who has made a unbelievable leap.
I mean, like jaw-dropping.
Like what?
I went this morning, Joy as my witness, you were in the room, right?
When I said, Lamar Jackson doesn't even physically look the same this year.
There was a shot in our monitor as I'm doing prep this morning out.
And I literally, I said, how much weight?
His traps, his arms, his shoulder.
Look at Lamar Jackson.
Yeah, he's a grown man now.
He's like a man.
That's what he did in this offseason.
Right.
He spent it in the wait room four hours, you know, look at him.
He don't even look the same.
That's what you should do.
I don't even know.
Does Lamar have commercials?
I've never seen one.
He wins a lot more than Baker.
Lamar's like the talk of the league this morning.
Patrick Mahomes and Lamar are the talk of the league.
Yeah, absolutely.
Okay?
This is what I've said about CAM for years.
Cam's sometimes distracted by being CAM.
If you don't think brands are hard to build,
you know how many people I have in my life working on my brand?
I've got an agent, a business manager, a social media person.
It's time-consuming.
And I'm off at noon.
What if I was a quarterback?
And I was in the office for 16 hours.
So this is, if you listen, for Joe Thomas, if Joe Thomas talks in Cleveland, listen.
Joe Thomas is smart.
He's the best football player in the state of Ohio for the last two decades.
He's one of the top five tackles in the history, maybe the league.
Remember when Baker, never forget this, remember when Baker took a shot at Duke Johnson.
Remember the running back came out?
All Duke Johnson says was, we got like three great running backs.
I just want to get some touches.
There was nothing wrong saying that.
There was nothing wrong for Duke John.
And Baker's comment, it's very quick.
Listen to this.
You know, we got to have guys that are goal-oriented on a single focus and mindset.
On a single focus.
Oh.
So not 13 commercials and multiple magazine articles and battling.
beloved American iconic
sportcasters on Twitter.
Okay.
By the way, you know who was focused?
Lamar Jackson. He's in your division. He'll be playing him
very soon. A couple weeks. Good luck with that.
By the way, Jared Goff's in L.A.
wins 80% of his starts. I've never seen him in a
commercial.
Period. Period. I've never seen Jared Gaug.
He's in Los Angeles. We've got 19
movie studios. I could throw up Frisbee
and hit eight of them from where I'm standing.
Never seen Jared Gough. He wants to
win before he's a brand.
I disagree with. Terry Bradshaw's on the show next week. I totally
disagree with him on something. He said something yesterday.
I totally disagree with him. I'm fired up today. I had a good night's sleep.
I came in all full of you-know-what this morning.
Yeah, there's no Red Bull over there.
And by the way, my calf's all messed up.
I have a grade two strain of my calf.
Oh, you got to get this. Is it the tattoo calf?
Yeah, it is.
Get the CBD oil.
You know what? It's about time I felt good about something.
I mean, it works.
All right. I'm going to disagree with Terry Bradshaw on something that's coming up.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio,

Please!
But there's so much more to me than that.
I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian.

Great to have you and Doug Gottlieb in 10 minutes.
Listen, you ever notice guys are good at getting into relationships?
We're terrible getting out of them.
We got the flowers.
We got the pickup lines.
we get oh we are so good getting into relationships then we break up and we text you i always said this
about countries we're great at getting into wars we sell that we have to defend this and we can never
get out of wars right it's always like choppy and i listen it's hard to have a great ending
to every movie it that's why there's so few great movies you've got an idea you've got some story arcs
and how do you close this thing up let's be honest about the
line Manning story? It's a bumpy ending. They're all bumpy. Unitis was bumpy. Namath was bumpy.
Peyton Manning was a little bumpy. He got benched for Brock Osweiler. So Terry Bradshaw said,
yesterday, I don't like what the New York Giants are doing. I would pack my bags and leave if they
treated me like that. And I disagree with Terry. Listen, the reality is money is respect. Do you know
the NFL player that has made the most money in the history of the league?
It's Eli Manning, not Peyton.
It's Eli.
That's respect.
Okay.
Hiring two different offensive guys to fix you, Ben McAdo, Pat Shermer.
Macadu said, it's not working, benched you for an hour, and was fired.
Eli's a nice guy.
I see the conflicted New York fans.
He is nostalgia.
When the Giants mattered, he was the guy and he was beating your rival,
the hated Belichick, Brady Patriots, and there's nostalgia.
It's Jeter-esque.
But Jeter at the very end, even his last game at Yankee Stadium, I think, got a hit.
Eli's had three straight years of bad football.
And he has become a walking on eggshells quarterback.
They have one of those in Tennessee named Marcus Marietta.
Nobody wants to talk about it publicly, but what do you do with Marcus Mariotta?
And they have one of those in New York, the last thing.
three years. Everybody likes Eli Manning, but what do we do? He's not very good. Once you become a
walking on eggshells employee, it's time to make a move. And movies generally don't end well,
and relationships don't end well, and stuff doesn't end well. As guys, we're good at the pickup lines.
We're bad at the breakup. And this is just a rocky one. This is as good as it gets. You've got
this era parent. The kid even looks like Eli. He talks like Eli. He was
coached by a guy's friends with the Manning family, David Cutcliffe.
It's perfect.
I swear to God, they put helmets on.
They look like brothers.
They talk, they sound.
The Southern thing, it all works.
And Eli's all classy.
And Eli's fine.
He talked yesterday.
This is, Eli's okay with this.
Listen.
Who knows?
So, you know, it's, again, I'm not dying.
And the season's not over.
So there's a lot to be positive about it.
A lot to be grateful for.
And, you know, and so I just got to, you know, kind of accept my new role and make the best of it.
He's not being disrespected.
You want to know who is disrespected.
Tom Brady was winning Super Bowls, winning his division, and winning MVP's.
And had to go to the owner in New England to get Jimmy Garoppolo out of the room.
And, oh, by the way, Brady is taking a pay cut.
Eli's made more money than Tom in his career.
So Brady's taking pay cuts as the league MVP,
the most dominant quarterback ever
has to go to the owner to say,
can you get Garoppolo out of here?
We could use other players, not one sitting watching me play.
That's disrespectful.
But Brady's wife,
you think I should take less of my wife has a great job?
Joy should take less
because she's with somebody who has a great job.
What?
I mean, nothing against Giselle,
but the idea that Tom's the 13th highest paid quarterback,
well, his wife, all right.
wife's awesome.
I love my wife, but if she gets a great job,
I'm not taking pay cuts, okay?
Even if we had a salary cap, okay?
So Eli's not disrespect.
If you want to see who's disrespected,
Brady takes pay cuts, wins Super Bowls,
win his divisions, wins MVP's,
had to go to the owner and say,
can I use a better offensive lineman at left tackle
instead of having a guy carrying a clipboard watching me
and competing for my job?
To me, I could argue that's disrespectful.
Disrespectful is not, hey,
we got a guy that even looks like you.
We've paid you more than any player,
in league history. We bring in offensive guys, neither works, and you're owing to again this year.
We're going to kind of move into the next guy. By the way, we'll keep paying you more than Tom Brady.
That's disrespectful. Man, I've got to tell you something. I'm praying I get treated like that.
I mean, if my ratings do a tailspin for four years and they come to me and say, you know, we made you
the highest paid radio host in American sports history.
And we found this other guy and he kind of looks like you and sounds like you and talks like
you.
We'll keep you on the payroll.
But can we move him in?
And I'm 72.
I'll be like, Seacrest out.
Thanks.
I'm going to move to Utah ski.
I mean, there's no disrespect here, folks.
They've been very kind to Eli.
Eli's a wonderful person from an amazing family.
His dad's great.
I know Cooper.
I know Archie.
I know Eli.
I don't know Peyton.
I'd love to meet him.
It's a great family.
They've treated him with absolute.
grace and dignity.
And by the way,
Eli's handling it
with grace and dignity,
which is no surprise.
Joy with the News.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, the Browns haven't lived up to the hype
leading into the season.
They won an expected game against the Jets,
but the first game of the season wasn't so great.
And this week is not going to get any easier
because they host the L.A. Rams.
But even with that start,
Sean McVeigh knows that Baker can be dangerous.
on offense. Oh, boy.
I mean, he's a unique player. He can go at any time. He's so explosive. He's got
aggressive hands. You know, they can really move them all around. There's no limitations.
I mean, his talent is incredible. He's an elite competitor, so he's definitely somebody that
we've got to be aware of. I mean, that's expected coming from Sean McVeigh.
He's got dangerous hands. It's interesting. I've never heard that. That's how weird.
I've never heard a coach say that about it. Dangerous hands. Yeah, he said something.
Listen, you and I both agree.
Baker throws a beautiful football.
He's got aggressive hands.
Aggressive hands.
I've never heard somebody, like never heard anybody say, you know, Brady's got aggressive hands.
Describe a quarterback like that.
I'm not saying it's wrong.
I just never heard it.
Look, I want Baker to be good this year, and obviously the star is not, like, they won by 20, okay?
So it's not like they did what they were supposed to do.
Yes, yes.
It was ugly, but they didn't look the way that we wanted it to look.
So that's fine.
But this game is not one where I think that they get back on track.
I think that the Rams are going to roll the Browns this weekend.
Oh, I don't.
You don't?
Oh, I think this is overtime.
Yeah?
I'm going to get into that.
Oh, I think this game's really close.
Oh, I disagree.
You think Rams are going to roll them?
Yeah.
Could we have a personal bet?
Okay.
Let me get back to you on that.
Okay.
No tattoos.
So you think it's a blowout?
I mean, blowout, like I think they win convincingly.
I'm not saying they're going to run by 20.
I think this is the biggest game in Cleveland in 20 years.
More than a field goal.
which for that for this situation
okay that'll be that's a good
we'll have a personal bet
because I think it's going to be
it's a blowout but I think they wouldn't convincingly
is this for me or joy
if I lose I have to come in with a different hairstyle
dude I got I got nothing to work with here
I can't get there's no what hairstyle can I do
sweep it over to the other side
I could probably do some Trump action
I'm not going brown again I did that
no I don't what can Brown do for you
is that the UPS sign like I know what it did for me
almost ruin my career okay
We'll figure something out.
But yeah, I think that the Browns lose this weekend and then hopefully get on track after that.
So Cam Newton is not practicing again today after reaggrating his foot injury and last week's loss to the Bucks.
This is the third straight day.
Cam has not been at practicing yesterday.
He was in a walking boot.
He's not been officially ruled out yet, but all signs are pointing to Kyle Allen starting for the Panthers against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Yeah.
This is at Arizona.
So the idea that Carolina got a break with Bree.
out is no break at all because Cam's out.
So I,
the truth of the matter is
if they weren't playing the Rams in the opener,
that was a big game, right?
Right.
Probably just should have sat, Cam.
Probably shouldn't have started him.
I mean, he got hurt.
Remember, he got hurt in preseason.
You probably shouldn't have started him again.
But you were opening it home.
You have a new owner.
Cam's the guy.
You're playing the Super, the NFC champs.
And he plays hurt.
But this is what I'm saying.
This is why it always makes me nervous when guys
come into the season injured.
No, and here's the other thing.
I've been told this for years about Cam. Cam plays hurt way more than the public things.
Right.
Even the critics of Cam in that locker room will tell you, Cam has physical courage.
So if Cam's missing a game, Cam's hurt.
Because Cam is played hurt in a...
He is a tough guy.
This is not a finesse guy.
Cam's been hurt.
He rolled his car over one time.
He wasn't missing games, right?
Like, Cam's come into Camp's hurt from a car wreck.
Okay, so this is a real tough guy.
I don't love him all the time as a quarterback.
But if he's missing the game,
it's because he's really injured.
And this is a real injury then.
And that's kind of disappointing because this is a year that I really wanted to see Cam
get back on track and get back into not necessarily MVP form,
but full functioning, non-injured, franchise quarterback,
like just get back on the right track.
And now with everything, with all the changes they've had within the organization,
his future there as well as Romero's is questionable at this point.
Finally, Ezekiel Elliott missed 40 days of the team activities during his holdout,
but missing Joseph Camp hasn't slowed him down
during the regular season. He's already rushed for 164 yards,
which is the highest total through the first two games of a regular season in his career.
His 4.6 yards per carry and two rushing touchdowns also tie his personal best.
So he's had nine, he's played 90 snaps down from 109 at this point last year.
By the way, he's done that with fewer snaps.
Labian Bell looked great against Cleveland, considering the circumstances.
And Ezekiel Elliott, by the way, has looked very good.
I think, here's I would say about running back.
Now, the downside is running backs
take the most physical hits in the league.
And it's a position where
it is becoming less important, right?
The good news, though, is that with Zeke
walking in and Levian walking in and having
not really played and both being
productive, that's the upside to Bax. Bax can now
go to coaches and say, listen, I don't need to play in the
preseason. So everything's cyclical
in life where the good comes to bad. The good news
for running backs now is, you don't have
to play in the preseason. You can miss camps.
I think Zee kind of... Right, and as long as you
practice full speed. I think it was
Tony Gonzalez was saying. Practice full speed.
Practice full speed and get a little impact
in practice and you'll be ready to go. But this is
again a really good sign for the Cowboys.
That's why I'm so high on them this year.
If Zeeke continues the role and they play the way that they
are, they're going to be a real problem in the playoffs.
We work at Fox. We have the NFC.
Well, I think the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl. Can you imagine
if it's New England, Dallas?
My Lord. I prefer Chiefs.
Chiefs Dallas.
I know Fox has.
That will break every Super Bowl record.
Chiefs Cowboys, yes.
Brady Cowboys would by a mile.
Brady would.
That's the only scenario where I think that New England would be good in the Super Bowl.
You'd get Dallas and I'd get New England.
I may just do the show from that point forward in Miami.
There's no reason to come home anymore.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Doug Gottlieb show after mine, Fox Sports Radio.
The Dugger here on a Thursday.
Greg Kosell, 30 minutes.
Can't wait for that as well.
So listen, you played college basketball, big star at Oklahoma State.
You have incredible connections in Oklahoma.
I saw who's the Jim Ross, the wrestling announcer?
He lives in Oklahoma.
He's got like 200 acres out there.
And I saw him this weekend.
He goes, I love you, but nobody likes you in Oklahoma.
So they like you and they trust you.
If I criticize Baker, I'm just a jerk.
But I said this to start my show, just to reacquaint the audience 30 minutes ago,
that a lot of this Baker stuff is expected.
Freddie Kitchens was his guy.
Now Freddy's a head coach.
You can't be with the year of the year.
The schedule's tougher.
OBJ miscamps and frankly a wedding in the offseason and 27 national TV commercials and
four big interviews. Lamar didn't have any of that and changed his body. There's been a little
distracted thing with Baker. That's my takeaway. You've watched him play. He's not as accurate.
What's wrong? I don't, well, I mean, I think our expectations are through the roof, right? There's a
reason that, as you pointed out, I've pointed out, he wasn't the number one prospect on most people's
boards. There's a reason that he was a walk-on. Now,
we could go deeper in the story he had scholarship offers,
just not to the places he wanted to go.
Sure, sure.
But there are reasons why he was evaluated as such.
He is small, okay?
He isn't a prolific athlete.
And there are some questions as whether or not he can push the football down the field.
And what I was told when he came out of the draft was if you surround him with
a high level of talent like he had at Oklahoma, his leadership, his ability to process.
But if you go back and look at Monday Night Football, he was.
not good. He just wasn't.
He wasn't to our level of expectation in
terms of processing the changes
that the Jets were making after the snap of the
football. Now, some of that you get over years,
but some of that is a little bit
disappointing. I think there's
a couple levels to it. One,
we do this with second year quarterbacks.
Us, Joy,
Joy, you don't have children of your
own. What do you
think the toughest age
to raise little kids is? That's a good question.
Two, two to four?
Right? Two usually is the answer.
Right.
The tough twos.
The terrible twos.
Right.
Everybody says terrible twos. Right. That's the cliche.
But the thing about, and you have a gaggle of kids.
Yeah.
Some of which you actually raised.
Yeah.
And you can attest to this that in many ways three is tougher than two.
Why?
Because your expectations where there are two is it's going to be tough.
Terrible twos.
Right.
They're going to throw tantrums.
But once they get to three, you're like, well, they're out of the terrible twos.
They're sleeping in a big boy, big girl bed.
You know, they're wearing undies or panties, you know,
Like they're supposed to take, but they're still just three years old.
Right.
That's the same for quarterbacks.
Our expectations of rookie quarterbacks are, they make a mistake.
You're like, ah, he's just a rookie.
No problem.
Right?
Yeah.
But in his second year, well, he's been, holding, he started for a year.
Well, he actually hasn't started a full year in the NFL.
Right.
He still doesn't.
There's so much he doesn't know.
Of course.
Right.
So in many words, second year quarterback, we always talk about a sophomore slump because our
expect, we give him the whole playbook, the start of the whole year,
the face of the franchise.
But the truth is, you know, he started 10,
11 games now. And some of this is to be expected. And some of this is some of the questions
about his size and talent coming out of the draft. Some of it is, I don't think he has a true
head coach who can now he mentor him, but it's also he'll lead. So they clean up all that
other stuff. But I do think it's fair to say that his play has been disappointed. The three
interceptions. And then he took on a Jets team that was non-competitive. And they did not
dominate, with the exception of Odell Beckham, Jr., did not dominate the way in which you
felt like they should. I think a lot of that.
is created because he's in his second year, and we completely disregard the fact that he hasn't
started a full season in the NFL.
Terry, I was talking about Eli Manning, and my guess is because Eli beat Brady and Belichick,
he'll probably get into the Hall of Fame, not maybe first time.
And he's also, people like him.
Not probably.
Listen, I respectfully to our radio host brethren, okay, you can have a show, you can have a week
of shows, you can have a month of shows as well that he should get into the Hall of Fame.
He will.
He's in New York.
That helps him.
Yes.
He beat Belichick.
and Brady and the best team we have ever seen in our lives, in the Super Bowl.
Yeah.
Okay, that helps him.
He's a manning.
That helps him.
He also made him both those Super Bowls an iconic throw.
Like the play of the game is a throw from Eli.
Well, and what's the toughest thing to do in sports?
Win on the road.
Remember, you know, he goes on the road and wins all of those games,
including Brett Farve's last game in a Green Bay Packer uniform, right?
So you win on the road, you win in New York, you're a manning.
And as much as that's probably helped him,
it's hurt him because he's always compared to his brother, which is unfair.
He didn't win one, which is a kind of a fluky thing.
He won two Super Bowls.
Like, we can have a discussion whether he should be.
He's going to be in the pro football hall of thing.
I don't have a problem at all with the way they treated him.
I'm more bothered that Brady had to go to Robert Kraft and said,
can you get Garoppolo out here?
I'm the league MVP.
And I still take a pay cut.
That bothers me more than Eli after four years of bad football saying,
we love you, but we got this kid.
and we're going to elegantly move on.
He sounds like you.
He looks like you.
He talks like you.
He's you.
It's almost respectful.
We drafted the next you.
It's very respectful.
Well, look, I don't, if he had a problem with it, he didn't see it coming.
Remember, the news yesterday was not just that there was a quarterback change being made,
but he wasn't going to waive his trade clause.
Yeah, yeah.
He's in it.
He's going to stay.
He's going to be a New York giant.
He's not going to move his kids.
And he's going to, you know, buy in.
And we'll probably see him later on this year.
With that offensive line, there's a good.
chance that Dano Jones gets hit, gets dinged up, and he gets thrown back in there.
I don't think there's, I think the timing is a little bit curious.
And I think the Giants, it's hard to replace a manning because, look, the last guy who tried
to do it, everybody got fired, right?
And maybe it's because they replaced him with Gino Smith for a week.
Everybody got fired.
But to Terry Bradshaw respectfully, like, you don't pack your things up and go home.
When you want to be football royalty, when you're a manning, when you're supposed to do things
the right way, that includes.
taking, you know, taking this and deal with,
Rep. Peyton, truthfully told, got benched.
By it for Brock Oswald.
Right.
Now he came back and remarkably was healthy for the postseason
and limped his way to the finish line.
But I think that that's not the way the Mannings believe it should be handled.
And if Eli Manning wanted out, he had his chance yesterday.
He would not waive his no trade clause.
You know, it's, so do we have the Nick Saban?
Is it a bite or is it a, I want to, I want to, in fact, you know,
I'm going to take a break because I want to ask you,
I actually think Cleveland's going to beat the Rams this weekend.
And I'll tell you why.
I'm going to take a break.
Come back with Doug.
Nick Saban said something about his NFL history.
I thought it was fascinating.
I want to address that.
And what do we make of Lamar, who, by the way,
maybe the best young quarterback in his division,
we don't know yet.
I think we'll discover a lot with Lamar,
who, by the way, faces Baker here in the next few games.
Doug Gottlieb coming back.
Don't go anywhere.

Because people scoreboard watch.

Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Absolutely.

So I'm not going to release my Blazing Five,
but everybody thinks it's the biggest game in Cleveland in 20 years.
I mean, it's the Sunday night football,
which is now bigger in our lifetime,
Monday Night Football when we were kids.
Sunday Night Football is now bigger than Monday Night Football,
and the Browns are on it.
And they're facing the Rams who are in the Super Bowl.
I think Cleveland's going to play as well as they can play,
and I don't think they're brilliantly coached yet.
I think Baker will probably play well.
Everybody feels like it's a prove-it game for the Browns.
I'm going to flip this, Doug, and I want you to respond.
No, it's a prove it game for the Rams.
You just paid Jared Gough $135 million.
Donald got paid.
Gurley got paid.
Brandon Coast got paid.
The GM-Less Sneed got paid.
Everybody's getting extensions.
Veteran team to the Super Bowl.
They have looked bad.
They got worked in the Super Bowl.
They've looked bad in two games offensively.
The offensive line is aging because they paid top people.
They have no depth on this football team.
Super Bowl losers
don't generally make the playoffs
and my expectations for the Rams
Sean McVeigh is Elon Musk
is here
Cleveland 9 and 7
nobody outside of Cleveland would think that's a failure
I think the pressure is on the Rams
I'm going to disagree with you
I don't think the Rams look great especially in
Carolina they were dying to be beaten in
Carolina yes I did think they started
to get a rhythm last week
on both sides of the ball I think this
the coaching mismatch of epic proportions.
If you look at the head coaches, right?
McVeigh is the guy that everyone's trying to copy and catch up to,
as opposed to Freddie Kitchens, who's looked a little bit over his skis in terms of
managing all of the egos and personalities.
And if you want to tell me that the Rams haven't looked good, that's fine.
We were just talking about the Browns and how they didn't dominate a Jets team playing
a third string quarterback and one that's, you know, they're decimated by injuries.
And then you go back to week one losing at home.
I think the Rams, this is expected.
They didn't expect to be firing on all cylinders.
They don't play their star players in the preseason.
They use the first couple weeks as the preseason.
And they have played these made for TV games, and they've lived up to the building.
I think Jared Gough might right now be the most underrated player in the national football league.
If you ask personnel people, they'll say, man, Jared Goss is really good.
You know, I talked to the Charger people after they did two days of scrimmages.
They said the first day, Jared Gough lit them up.
They said they adjusted some in the second day.
They're like, man, Jared Gough's really good.
Talk to the Raider people.
and when they went up there and did the scrimmages with the Raiders, he played.
They said, man, Jared Gough is really, really good.
So I hear you.
I don't think they've looked like the Patriots in week two.
I don't think they've looked like the Ravens,
but you also have to take into account level of competition.
That's the big thing.
We do this in college football.
We're like, look at their stats.
Okay, did they play Austin P or did they play Texas A&M, right?
Did they play at home and do they play on the road?
If you've played, if you've played the dolphins,
you cannot count that as a real NFL game.
They are non-competitive.
If you played the Arizona Cardinals, you can't count it.
Both those teams stink.
By design, they stink.
We have reached an era in the NFL where it's like the NBA,
it's like, frankly, Major League Baseball,
where there are going to be non-competitive teams
that are playing for next year and the year after that.
And I think we're holding the Rams to a standard,
which they don't even hold themselves to,
considering they don't play their stars in the preseason.
There's an amazing thing, Doug, happening in football
in America. 20 years ago,
you didn't have these seven-on-seven camps.
The high school football coaching now
is significantly more sophisticated
than it was 20 years ago.
Just on the West Coast,
Arizona State,
BYU, and USC
have freshman quarterbacks
that are like
Zach Wilson's actually a sophomore at BYU.
But like they're kids. They're like
19 and they're really
good. Like really
good. So I'm watching all these
young quarterbacks, they're coming into this league with a million snaps.
Seventh grade, eighth grade, ninth grade.
Didn't work that way.
You used to play all the sports as a kid.
Now, if you're a quarterback at seven, that's all you do.
So I'm watching Lamar Jackson, and I do want to be, I want to push back and go, I'm not sure.
And I'm like you, I'm like not sure.
But man, Josh Allen looks pretty good.
And Lamar doesn't.
Kyler quickly picked it up.
And Baker last year and Sam last four games of the year last year, Donald was it,
is it possible now that almost all.
of these young quarterbacks. They're coming in, Doug, much more refined. And maybe Lamar,
who I had huge doubts on, maybe he's just pretty darn good. You should go down on Friday night.
You know, Matt Leinert and his brother, they had the Matt Leinert League, which is all over Southern
California. It's a flag football league. Yeah. And it's really remarkable. Like my son plays tackle
and flag, but you know, so many of the athletes, they don't, everybody plays flag. Everybody plays in
the Lionel League. Right. Everybody. And so yeah, I mean, they, and there's no real running outside of
occasional pitch.
You know, it's all passing.
Passing, reading defenses, zone versus man.
I mean, what do you make of Lamar?
I mean, well, I just, we need to breathe on Lamar because we've seen this.
I mean, when Vince Young first started, he was a pro bowler.
He was.
And now, Lamar is much more refined off the football field doesn't have the issues.
Yeah.
Okay.
So I'm, I'm just pointing out that we have seen the athletic quarterback.
Yeah.
And the Saturday offense work for a short period of time.
No, you're running quarterbacks always work.
they don't last, but I mean, RG3 made the playoffs.
The question is third down, okay?
Right, right.
The two or three most important stats in the NFL, okay, are what do you do on third down?
And how do you turn the ball over?
Do you turn the ball over?
And remember, these offenses, especially when you're running a lot, and when you pitch it a lot,
it does turn the football over.
Lamar's not, didn't have a turnover this year.
I understand.
Yeah.
But they played the dolphins who suck.
Yeah.
Okay.
And the dolphins did a bad plan, didn't execute the plan, and don't have the talent.
to execute any plan that they did have.
Right, right, right.
Okay?
Let's see what happens.
Kansas City will be a little bit telling.
Once you get to week five, week six, week seven, you start playing teams in division.
We see you the second time around.
That's when you figure it out, okay?
Because if we saw the Chargers, the first time they saw him, they did a good job against
them the second time in the playoffs, he got boot off the football field.
Yeah.
Now, I'm willing to believe that he's improved.
I think so.
That they've tinkered their offense, that you bring in Hollywood Brown, that you take the top off of
defense and create gaping holes.
but he hasn't been an accurate short and
an intermediate passer.
He hasn't had to make those throws consistently.
They've been drops in the bucket,
which he's always done well when he's had time.
Let's see, let's just take a breath.
He's been great.
Dax's been great.
But they've both played against non-competitive,
non-playoff teams, and it's very early in the season
where teams are kind of figuring out what they're doing.
We talked about this yesterday.
Dax coordinator, nobody has film on him.
Kellen Moore literally has no, I mean, like, literally,
nobody has film on Kellen Moore.
So they doubled their play action pass attempts in Dallas first two games.
Everybody's like, nobody knows what to get from Kellynne Moore.
So you're kind of, and I'm not saying Dax been very good.
They've gotten him really nice weapons.
But there is something to be, I always think great is people try to stop Kobe for 20 years.
You had all this film.
He was still like 28.
Like great is year after year.
Do we have time for?
I have one more segment.
Okay.
So Nick Saban said, we don't have sound, we have a bite.
Nick Saban was talking about his regret in the NFL.
Now, Greg, do we have a bite or, okay, a full screen.
And Nick Saban talked about it.
And Nick said, you know, people think I wanted to try the NFL.
He goes, I loved LSU.
He goes, I made a huge mistake.
I left college football.
That's what I take away from the Dolphins.
If there was one thing professionally that I would do over again, I just wouldn't have left LSU.
We loved it.
We had a good time.
We put a lot of time into it.
What do you make of Sabin's, it wasn't as bad as Spurrier.
There was moments in Miami.
His team doctor wouldn't allow him to have Breeze.
It would change everything.
What did you make his NFL move?
I think it's a parallel to.
what Rick Petino said about leaving Kentucky.
You know, I left Camelot.
And he did.
He had it rolling.
And who knows how we would look at Rick Petino now,
who, by my estimation, is the greatest college basketball coach of this and maybe any generation.
Yeah, people will tell you, basketball people will tell you,
Patino's the best game coach.
Game coach, he was an innovator.
He embraced the three-point shot before everybody else.
Hell, when he was with the Celtics, they were tanking before tanking was cool.
They had two lottery picks to try and get to,
try and get Tim Duncan. They didn't get either.
Tim Duncan goes to Spurs. The rest is Tim Duncan is his Drew Breeze.
Right. So, so I think you under, you know, it's like anything in life. You don't understand
what you have until you don't have it. Don't have it anymore. And, you know, sometimes you take,
I've taken a professional journey, which I thought at the time was the right move and did not
turn out to be the right move for me personally. But I also think that you can't tell the story
without telling the quarterback story.
Yes.
And the perfect example of it is what he's experienced at Alabama, right?
If Jalen Hertz isn't good enough in the national championship game,
you just go and put Tua in the game and he won the game, right?
And then if Tua's hurt and he's not good enough in the SEC championship game,
you're like, hey, Jalen, yeah, I left you at the passenger.
Come in and win me the game.
You can't do that in the NFL.
You are going to be forever tied to the biggest decision you make,
which is who's going to be my quarterback.
And if you screw it up, it's a pretty good chance you're going to be out of work.
Herm Edwards, who's having really, to some surprising success at Arizona State,
has this great young freshman quarterback.
And Hermel always told me, he goes, Colin, he goes, go look at Belichick.
Go look at the Cleveland quarterback.
He goes, Bill's this, you know, he coached against Bill 15 times.
He goes, Bill's as smart as they get.
Bill had a pretty choppy career.
You know, Belichick told Herm, it was the game, it was actually the game in which Bledso got hurt.
True story.
So Herm and Belichick met at midfield.
They've been longtime friends.
And there were people on the New England staff that said,
if we don't win today, we're putting our houses up for sale.
And Bledsoe gets nothing.
I did my first national radio show filled in for a guy named Todd Wright up in Bristol that night.
30 seconds.
And I said, Patriots are done.
They got some guy named Tom Brady starting.
Somebody please in Bristol destroy that tape because obviously I was a little bit of a little bit of.
though. That was one of your first shows. It was the first weekend of football after 9-11.
And I was up there. I was in Sliders, I think was the sports bar. I'm watching and he goes down.
He so didn't get out of bounds. He got hit. And Tom Brady comes first of all.
Any weekend that includes sliders is a good weekend. I'll just leave it at that.

your podcast. Ah, here we go, hour to live in Los Angeles. This is The Herd. Wherever you may be
and however you may be listening, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio and FS1. Joy Taylor is joining me.
Three minutes from now, Greg Kossel. Joy, how are you? Doing great. How are you calling?
It was a feisty first hour. A lot of information first hour. Yes. Very tough on Baker-Mayfield.
They had to be. They host the Rams this weekend in the biggest game in Cleveland in two decades.
Maybe that's the bet.
Maybe you have to wear a Baker Mayfield jersey.
I can't do that.
How about a headband?
No, I'm just saying I'm taking the points with the Browns.
I think I'm going to.
How about this?
You think it's a blowout?
I think it's close.
Well, blowout's probably extreme.
I think the Rams win by more than a field goal.
We'll figure this.
That's a road game.
You sound like Joel Clat, big upset there.
Well, I toned it down. I agree with you. Joel argues that it still is a dramatic upset.
So I want to tell you something, Joy, I love about what's happening in sports. I think it's harder than ever to be disciplined. There's more money than ever for athletes. Social media. There's more fame. And yet I'm seeing a trend in sports that I think is really cool. Let's look at the NFL quarterbacks.
Gough, Lamar Jackson, Wence, Dachshin, Mahomes, Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray.
Humble, quiet, really good kids, coachable.
All the trappings.
Quarterbacks now make $200 million contracts.
All the social media.
It's all quiet kids.
Look at the NBA.
Now, LeBron, you know, he's about ready.
You know, he's got a couple years left.
He can be political.
But Janice and Kauai and Damian Lillard and Steph and Clay and Zion,
they're nice kids.
They're hardworking.
They don't get caught up in nonsense.
Look at baseball.
Cody Bellinger, Yelich, Mike.
Trout, Aaron Judge, the kid, who's the kid, Anthony Rendon, Chris Bryant.
All these guys are making more money.
There's more fame.
There's more social media.
And we have a trend.
They're all focused.
They're all good kids.
They're not in trouble.
It's harder today.
I have these conversations with my daughter.
It's harder today to not look stupid occasionally, not end up in a bad Instagram photo or do
something because the trappings are everywhere.
The money is everywhere.
And all we have is these gracious, humble quarterbacks and these great baseball kids.
And they got $300 million.
What would you do at 25 of that kind of money?
And then the NBA guys, Janice and Lillard and Steph and Clay, and they give the charity
and they're great teammates and they want to stay in their towns.
And there's one exception, Baker Mayfield.
He's rolling the dice.
He's saying, I'm going to be the outspoken guy.
I'm going to build the brand before I've won any games.
And it's a roll of the dice because we're either going to laugh at him
when he bursts into flames or he's going to be an absolute rock star,
a thousand times bigger than this.
And it's very tough to be the exception, okay, especially when you're not winning.
Aaron Rogers was way, Aaron Rogers was way cooler.
The condescending stuff, we defended it forever until he didn't win.
And Bryce Harper and the flare and this.
and now he's not winning.
And LeBron, we dealt with some of his high-maintenance stuff
until last year when he couldn't make the playoffs.
Baker's rolling the dice here.
In an era, he's the one that's grabbed the bait,
the social media sparring, the commercials, the brand before winning games.
And it's a roll of the dice for Baker.
He's the exception now of the rock stars in all these sports.
It's either going to pay off big.
Because if you win in your brash, you make hundreds of millions of dollars.
You become, you know, in music, Kanye West, you become just pow!
But if you lose, you're the butt of a lot of jokes.
Baker's aggressive.
He's rolling the dice.
I think Sunday will go a long way, at least this year, determining which side he ends up on.
Greg Cosell is now joining us.
40 years NFL films, which is unbelievable.
He's as objective as anybody we bring on.
and let's start with this.
We've got two games now with DAC.
I think we would both acknowledge the weapons are better.
Michael Gallops better.
Randall Cobb helps a full season with Amari.
Jason Witten's been a nice addition.
Offensive line now this year healthy.
Last year wasn't always.
Two games with Dak, Greg.
What have you seen?
I won't even lead you.
What have you seen on DAC?
I'm seeing a really comfortable quarterback,
throwing the ball exceptionally well.
I'm seeing a really well-schemed offense.
that's presenting a lot of defined throws for the quarterback, which is the job of coaches.
So I'm seeing a really good mix.
Playing well and throwing the ball really well with an offense that is scheming.
And that is the ideal situation you can be in.
By the way, Kellyn Moore, nobody's got film on him.
Do you think some of it is everybody's kind of watching the Cowboys guessing at this point facing them?
That's so much the case.
Look, it's funny.
People ask me that a lot, let's say, about Kyle Shanahan.
You know, I don't think that the guys who do it really well are doing things that have never been done before.
I think what guys who do it really well understand is defensive responsibilities, the rules of defense,
and how to attack and break down those rules.
That's what the past game, particularly in zone, is about.
You understand the rules of the defense.
Your route concepts attack and break down those rules.
Let's move to the Packers.
They face two very good defenses.
is Mike Zimmer is a great defensive coach and the Vikings have all sorts of personnel and the bears are obviously very good.
Kaleel Max's hard to block and they're two and oh and it's been inconsistent.
But do you see things in those inconsistent Packer offenses that concern you or you really like?
Well, I think with the new offense, it always takes a little time.
And no matter how good your quarterback is, it takes time because it's all new.
And the nuance in detail always takes time in any business.
So, you know, I thought that what they did last week with relying on,
on the run game once they got ahead was good. I think Aaron Jones is a very good zone runner.
I think he can be a bell cow kind of back. I don't think they'll feature their offense
through him, but I think he can be the kind of back that carries 15 plus times and be effective.
I think Rogers will work through what this offense is. It's much more defined in some ways.
That's the way Matt LaFoehlre would like it to be run. That may go against Aaron's DNA,
but I think that if you're winning, you accept it.
And I think that it's kind of critical for them to get ahead in games
because that's how Mike Patton's defense will work most effectively.
Patton's defense isn't as effective when teams can line up in base personnel packages
and calm down all the movement out of the sub-packages.
I want to shift to San Francisco.
We made a prediction.
I don't think it was that daring or courageous.
We thought they would double their wins.
We think they've added some nice pieces on the perimeter.
they've got two good tackles.
They didn't until Staley got hurt.
And I do think Jimmy Garoppolo is a good quarterback.
Great, I don't know.
I watched them last weekend.
They're all sorts of clever.
They had eight different guys catch balls.
They had six different guys run it.
I'm just telling you from my eyes tell me,
and the receivers are often very open.
San Francisco to me was as much fun as any offense I watched last weekend.
What did your eyes tell you?
What did the film say?
Well, I don't think there's a better coach in the NFL,
And this goes back a number of years, Colin,
than Kyle Shanahan when it comes to the run-pass fusion element of the play-action pass game.
Kyle may understand defensive responsibilities better than any offensive coach in the league,
and he understands how the play-action pass game,
whether it's conventional play action with the quarterback under center,
whether it's shotgun play-action, whether it's play-action boot.
He understands the responsibility of defenders and how they will respond to what he does,
and then he exploits that.
I don't believe there's anybody better in the league
understanding that and exploiting it.
And now with the misdirection elements
and the movement elements that have become part of the NFL game,
I thought last week was in some ways a clinic.
He knows how to break down the rules of defense.
Yeah, I really like watching them play.
I'm happy for people in San Francisco
because they've had to deal with some Raiders stuff
and they've had to deal with some Niners stuff.
And this is going to be a wildly entertaining team
with a lot of interesting perimeter players right now.
One of the teams they'll play twice a year is the Rams.
I said last year, Cooper Cups injury, they didn't feel the same.
Brandon Cook's is expensive, but I don't feel I get big volume out of him.
Todd Gurley looks like a different player and not in a good way,
and the offensive line is aging.
I don't think the Rams look quite as dynamic.
Am I hyperventilating here a little?
No, but now what I think this is from a football perspective is I think that Sean McVeigh,
who's a young coach, okay?
look, we anoint people in our society now with social media.
He was anointed a genius.
I think he's working through teams figuring out some of what he does,
and now he has to respond to it.
I thought last week he did a pretty good job.
What teams have been doing to take away the run game is they'll put six across on the line of scrimmage
that really prevent you from running your staple outside zone run game.
So now you have to adjust, and I thought last week he made a few nice adjustments.
He ran what we call the pin-pull concept, where you,
pull offensive lineman, and you actually have someone from the outside come and block down
on the edge players.
And he did that a number of times very effectively.
And that's one way to attack and defeat that sort of six across front, which the, who'd they
play last week?
The Saints played last week.
The Patriots played in the Super Bowl.
So now he's going through the process of sort of figuring out what teams are doing to
him and how to tactically respond.
That's all part of the growth of the young coach.
Good stuff by Greg Kosell, 40 years NFL films.
Okay, let's talk about a couple teams who have backups now.
Bridgewater and Breeze.
I look at the schedule.
I look at the weapons.
I look at the O'Line.
I look at Sean Payton, and I think they can go three and three with the next six with Teddy Bridgewater.
Heck, they may play some Tason Hill and, you know, certain sets.
I don't think Bridgewater, I don't feel like the sky is falling for New Orleans, or does the film tell you he's very, very limited?
Well, it's limited.
in games in such a long time. So when I watched him this past week, I saw some things I would expect.
He was a little cautious. He was a little hesitant. He wasn't overly comfortable in the pocket.
He at times was a little overreactive when he thought there would be pressure. These are things that
I imagine will get better, the more he plays. I think Sean, in making the announcement this week that he'll
play both quarterbacks, he knows that Drew will come back. He's going to try to massage these games
in the best way he can. Because all he's trying to do now is he's not trying now to get ready for
playoff run. He's just trying to win each and every Sunday right now with what he can put on the
field at quarterback. So this might be a week where you see he'll play quite a bit. Maybe the
following week you don't see him play. I think he's simply going to try to massage each victory
and hope it's a victory. But I would expect Bridgewater to be better now that he's had game
experience. So Drew Breeze is out, but they've still got, you know, they've still got Kamara and
Michael Thomas. Whereas the Steelers don't have Ben, they don't have Levian Bell from a couple years ago.
They don't have A-B. They don't now have Ben. Ryan Shazier, I think, hurt their defense.
Could I just make the argument? They have lost four great players in the last couple of years,
injuries, leaving contracts. They just don't have, they don't have next-level players,
and this is going to be rough without Big Ben. Well, it's a number of years. They were an offense that relied
very much on what we call isolation individual routes. In other words, the receivers would run routes
against coverage, and they'd expect them essentially to win or win enough, and they could do that
with the players they had, Colin.
And Rathesberger, as a veteran, had an advanced understanding of what's open in the NFL,
because open in the NFL very often is not a lot of room, but that's open.
Rudolph is certainly not at the point where he understands what open is in the NFL.
So I'm curious to see if they start to design more route concepts and combinations to try to
to find things for him rather than have him try to make great throws versus man coverage to
receivers who, quite frankly, aren't as good as the receivers they've had in the past.
Yeah, interesting game.
Pittsburgh now, I think they go west this week.
Yep.
Yep.
They play the 49ers in San Francisco.
Yeah, that's a really fun game.
Tomlin hasn't had a ton of success out west.
In fact, they lost to the Raiders, I think, last year.
Okay, we were talking about this yesterday.
Tom Brady's had two great 10-year careers.
That if you took his first 10 and his last.
10 outside of Joe Montana, you could argue each separately, you know, two, three Super Bowls,
multiple MVP, one set.
They were both outside of Montana, arguably the greatest quarterback career of all time.
Not even Michael Jordan's two, three-year runs in between baseball.
You could argue that he was the best basketball player.
Brady, you can make some arguments.
When you look at Brady now, is he absolutely better than he was in the first 10, if you
remember that?
Is he a different quarterback?
Is it mostly he's the same guy, just smarter?
You know, I don't think the skill set has dramatically changed.
I still think he throws the ball well.
You know, it's always hard to say maybe he doesn't throw it quite as well as he did eight or nine or ten years ago,
but I don't think his old changed.
So, no, what's amazing is the ability to play at this level at his age.
But I guess then, Colin, that means since I've been here 40 years if I had four great thin year career.
That's right, Greg.
I'm just extrapolating, you know.
Yeah, I was watching the Miami game and the Pittsburgh game, and I'm just watching them, and I said, Norman Lear just signed a three-year contract on Broadway's 97.
If you didn't know Brady's age, you just go, you know, 30-year-old guy looks good.
I don't see a ton of drop off.
And they do such a good job, you know, again, and this is what coaches should do, you know, this is not a negative.
They do such a good job with their concepts in defining the throws.
I mean, how often do you think about watching Brady?
how often does he throw the ball on time within the rhythm of the play call?
Yes.
Okay, now that's a function of many things, including Tom Brady, but how often do you see that?
You rarely see him out of rhythm in a game.
Rarely.
It happens on occasion.
We know that, but not very often.
Yeah.
Finally, your big play includes Lamar Jackson, who I think is fascinating.
We're watching a young player really pop.
Now, it's been against, you know, not that redeemable opposition, but whatever, it's NFL football,
give me your big play with Lamar Jackson to, I think it's to a tight end Mark Andrews.
It is to a tight end Mark Andrews.
And before we start, let me just say that Jackson, I think, looked very comfortable.
I think he's staying in the pocket.
He's not looking to run.
He's not dropping his eyes.
I think he's playing quarterback the right way.
They do such a good job schematically, too.
So let's now start the play.
This was the touchdown to Mark Andrews in the first quarter.
And you see he's wide open.
I didn't pick this play to say, hey, he's wide open.
It's how he got open.
And I think what's critical here,
is the way they bring Marquise Brown from one side of the formation to the boundary side of what we call orbit motion.
Then they take Willie Sneed, the white out, and he's going to run a post route.
Okay?
And then what they're going to do as well, same side is Mark Andrews will run a wheel route.
This is just a post-wheel combination.
It's in everybody's playbook.
The defense, the cars, they're in cover three, which is actually a really good defense for this to work.
So they're in cover three.
Now, watch what happens here as we start this.
DJ Sweringer in this zone concept is responsible for running with Mark Andrews on the wheel route.
But what do they do with Brown coming on that orbit motion?
They grab the eyes of Sweringer.
So the combination of that and Sneed running vertically, removing the corner, gets Andrews wide open on the wheel.
And remember, that's technically Sweringer's responsibility.
But that orbit motion in the backfield grabbed Sweringer's eyes, distorted his coverage responsibility.
and led to this touchdown.
Now, a lot of teams do this.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
This play work, but that's what you're trying to do here.
You're trying to distort the coverage responsibilities
of the underneath defender who's responsible for the wheel route.
Yeah, by the way, it's a good pump fake by Lamar because I thought he was going there.
It wasn't sometimes.
And that's part of it.
You want to make sure the quarterback does that.
Yeah.
A lot of guys bad pump fakes.
That was a real good pump fake.
40 years NFL films, Greg Kosell.
Great talking to you today.
Greg, as always.
I appreciate it, Colin. Thanks.
Good stuff.
Man, just love football.
Cannot get enough of football.
I love these Thursday shows.
By the way, Patrick Mahomes takes on Lamar Jackson this weekend.
Is this all sorts of fun?
That's going to be an amazing game.
Let's not compare Lamar to Patrick.
Remember, Lamar's had like nine starts.
And it's in Kansas City.
I don't think it's fair to compare anyone to Mahomes.
Just like it's not fair to compare anyone to Brady or Rogers.
Yeah.
In reality, all these quarterbacks are very unique anyway.
Yeah.
Good stuff.
Coming up next.
I think, I'll tell you why I really think the pressure is not on the Browns this weekend.
And they can play very loose.
They can actually play very loose against the Rams.
And I think the Rams have to win and are going to be tight.
And we'll talk about that coming up.

Sunday we've got a full slate of action highlighted by the Broncos taking on Aaron Rogers and the Packers or in other regional action.
Zeke and the Cowboys Battle with Dolphins.
It's all coming your way Sunday on Fox and the Fox Sports app.
Check local listings for the game in your area.
2620 Packers.
26.20 Packers.
Speaking of the Packers versus Broncos, that is one of the Super 6 NFL Sunday games this week.
This is the new free to play game where you can win up to $250,000 of Terry Bradshaw's money.
Colin, your winner and final score, 2620 Packers.
Yeah, you know what's amazing, Joy?
Denver doesn't have a sack this year.
What the hell is that possible with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb?
They're also 30th on third down defense.
It doesn't make any big Fangio, the best pass rushing duel in the league they can't get to the quarterback.
I think I'd take Green Bay, but that number's like seven and a half.
That's too big for me.
I bet numbers.
All right, Joy, with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So the Giants benched Eli Manning this week in favor of rookie Daniel Jones.
Eli was gracious after his demotion, but Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw thinks he should say goodbye to New York.
So I hope Eli's okay with it because he's such a good dude.
I hope he's okay with it.
I'm sure he isn't.
If they came to me in Pittsburgh after two weeks and they said Terry, we're going to have to go with so-and-so,
I'd shake their hands, I'd pack my bags and I'd go home because that would be a hard pill to swallow after all of that.
Well, Eli's making $23 million this year, and he's going to be a free agent in 2020.
And he did start the season, and he's Eli Manning.
So quitting right now, I mean, he's made lots of money in his career, but he's not going to quit in the middle of the season.
Also, Terry wasn't bad at the end.
And Terry, they didn't have a guy ready to take for Terry's job.
Like, they drafted a guy at number six pick.
So there's a guy.
Terry didn't have the number six pick a quarterback behind him.
Well, also, it's two weeks in the day.
the season. There's a lot that can happen. I mean, obviously, God willing, nothing happens with
Daniel Jones, but what if Daniel Jones gets injured? Then what? Like, the season is far from over.
It literally just began. I'm not saying that we should expect to see Eli again if nothing goes
wrong for the rest of the season. Hopefully they don't flip-flop on this decision, but...
Aren't you excited to watch Daniel Jones? I'm very excited to watch Daniel Jones. I can't wait.
Well, I thought the way that it was handled with McAdoo and the benching was really disrespectful,
and quite frankly, it made no sense whatsoever. The season was completely lost.
You weren't going to find out what you were going to get with Gino Smith.
So the whole thing was that that was handled disastrously.
But this is what it is.
It's just football and this is the way it goes.
And I don't think I would have preferred that they did it my way, which was turn the team over to Daniel Jones at the beginning of the season and make it his team and get the locker room behind him and all of that.
They wanted to see what they had left with Eli Manning or maybe the fact that they're paying Eli Manning almost $23 million this year had something to do with it, probably a little bit.
But this isn't a disgraceful way to go out.
know what Eli is at this point. To your point earlier, Tom Brady was far more
disrespectful than anything it has to do with his. He was winning Super Bowls and had to
beg the owner to get Jimmy Garoppolo out of town. And he was clearly right. Yes, and he
was taking pay cuts for the owner and the coach to make their life easier. Eli has taken no
pay cuts. And I'm not saying, I'm not saying players should ever take him, but Tom was willing to do.
I'm not saying you have to. But Duncan did, Brady did. Some stars later on pile of money have
taken pay cuts. I think it's cool. I'm not saying, I'm not going to
to judge you if you don't, but he does.
It should be noted. I don't care about his wife's
great job. He does. No, he shouldn't take
less money because of Giselle. I think people
bring up Giselle because it makes it easier for him
to take a pay cut. That, right. That
you can't argue, obviously, unless
they're all motivated by money, which I don't think
that they are. But I don't think he
should take a pay cut because Giselle was
worth $300 million. So
speaking of New York, Lannon Collins
spent his first four years in the NFL with
the Giants, but New York decided to let him walk
in the offseason. He ended up signing a huge deal.
with the Redskins, but Collins wasn't happy
with how Giants' GM Dave Gettlement
handled letting him go.
He said, no dignity at all. I didn't know
what was going on. He's a liar.
He lied to everybody. So that's a man I do
not trust. I hope no one else would
too. Dave Gettleman
also pulled Josh Norman's
franchise tag in Carolina, and
Josh Norman said every time he sees Gettleman
he wanted to, quote, smash
him in the face. That's not great.
Yeah. So, look, I don't
know too much about the situation with Gettleman.
And the Giants, what I will say, though, is the Giants are not in the best position right now moving forward.
Sequin Barclay is obviously a superstar.
And his energy and talents elevates everyone.
So I'm hoping that Daniel Jones having Sequin Barclay is at least a good jumping off point for his career.
But they have a lot of work to do with this team.
So not that this necessarily has anything to do with it.
They're defensive amounts.
I'm not a big gentleman fan.
By the way, it's amazing.
In Los Angeles, the Lakers and the Clippers are both good.
The Dodgers are winning their Division 7 straight year.
The Rams and the Chargers are fun.
The two New York football operations, forget the Knicks and the Mets, which are clown shows.
The two New York operations upstairs are a mess.
Like, I just, I mean, New York sports right now, professional sports, NBA, NFL.
I mean, thank God for the Yankees.
I just don't think the Jets or the Giants are well run.
I think the Jets hired a guy Joe Douglas, which all my guys love.
But man, I'm not a Gettelman guy.
I think he just talks before thinking.
I just want to see the Giants get back to being competitive again.
Because much like when Cam Newton is at his highest point, the Giants are a, the Giants make the NFL better.
Like that division is already very competitive and historical, but the Giants being better just elevates the rest of the NFL.
So hopefully this change kind of starts to usher in that era again.
Finally, Nick Saban is one of the best college football coaches in the country.
Sorry, there's a little fly flying around here, but me.
Before his dominant run in Alabama, though, he gave the NFL a shot.
He did not live up to expectations in Miami and now wishes he never left college in the first place.
He said it was a huge mistake to leave college football, and I know a lot of LSU fans think I left for whatever reasons,
but I left because I wanted to be a pro coach or thought I wanted to be a pro coach.
We loved LSU.
We worked hard to build a program.
If there was one thing professionally that I would do over again, it would have been not to leave LSU.
But you can't live a life of regret.
I mean, everybody, listen, he's an aspirational guy.
And it should be noted,
Miami was not, if the team doctor would have given him an okay on Drew Brees,
the Alabama story doesn't exist,
and he's in the same division with Belichick,
and Belichick doesn't have nine Super Bowls.
So, like, it changed the course of history,
but let's not crush him because he did some really good things in Miami.
He had your brother there.
Yeah.
You know, so, listen, Jimmy Johnson didn't do his well in Miami.
Once Marino got old, Miami's never been the same,
and Sabin and Jimmy Johnson,
who are legendary coaches can attest to that.
A lot of coaches have not done well in Miami since Stan Marino.
Yeah.
So look, the Saban area in Miami is not looked upon well from Miami or most people and clearly not from Nick either.
But I think if you're a coach and you get to a certain level, if you have any aspirations to coach at the pro level, you have to take that next step, whether you're successful at or not.
Some coaches just thrive in different environments.
Clearly, Nick Sabin is an all-time great cause.
college football coach.
And college football and pro football,
much like the discussions that we have about Chip Kelly,
are very, very different.
Think about this.
Pete Carroll, fired twice,
7 to 9, 7 and 9, got Russell Wilson.
Now he's a legend.
Jimmy Johnson, two Super Bowls,
went to Miami,
old Marino was a little over 500.
Belichick,
I'm going to look up the number here real quick.
Belichick pre-Tom Brady in the NFL.
No wait to you hear this.
number. 41 and 55. Saban gets Breeze. He's in the NFL. I mean, you have to have a
quarterback. Yes, you can't. And every legendary quarterback has a great coach. This is one or the
other, but there's two sides of the ball. I just mentioned Belichick losing record, Pete Carroll
not good, Jimmy Johnson never the same without Aikman, Russell Wilson, and Brady. And all of those
are future Hall of Fame coaches. Oh, they're all, they're four of the best coaches of my life.
Right. I mean, you have to have it.
I do think that he is a better college football coach,
but again, we'll never know because he never had that guy.
Right. Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd-line news.
For the record, Joy and I have a bet.
We haven't figured out.
She thinks the Rams will beat Cleveland comfortably.
I think this weekend, Sunday night football,
I think the Cleveland's the biggest game in 20 years,
and I do think they'll clean it up.
Everybody thinks it's a prove-it game Cleveland.
I do not.
I think it's a proof-it-game Rams.
Our expectations for the Rams are, Sean McVeigh is a genius, less needs as good as any executive,
Todd Gurdy got paid, Brandon Cooks got paid, Aaron Donald got paid, Jared Goff got,
everybody got paid.
This is a veteran team in Los Angeles.
This is an old offensive line.
These are pro-bowl-level players.
Here's Cleveland's ages.
Baker's 25, Miles Garrett's 23, Nick Chubbs, 23, Denzo Ward's 22.
OBJ's the old guy is 26 and a rookie head coach.
The expectation for the Rams are Super Bowl,
and they've looked awful in the first two games for most of it.
Remember, Breeze got hurt.
They were facing Teddy Bridgewater for three of the three and a half hours.
So I don't think it's a prove-it game for Cleveland.
No, they're in the underdog.
If Cleveland loses 23, 22 in place pretty well,
aren't we saying Monday, watch out for Cleveland?
That's our expectation.
They're the underdog in Vegas at home on Sunday night football.
The expectation for the Rams, if Monday the Rams lose to Cleveland,
we're going to be saying they're not the same football team.
Because everybody backed up the Brinks truck on the Rams.
Nobody's calling Freddie Kitchen brilliant.
Jared Goff just got paid.
Baker hasn't made the big money.
He probably made more in commercials than he has than he has salary at this point.
So I don't think it's a proof of game for Cleveland.
If I think if Cleveland lost close, the narrative in America on Monday
is, okay,
Brown's got it figured out.
Watch out.
If the Rams lose, it is,
we got a problem.
Like, they're paying everybody.
The offensive line's old.
The secondary is hit and mess.
What do you do with the Kib Talib at the end of the year?
Do you pay him big?
So I actually think,
I think this is, I don't,
I've watched golf and on the road,
he's not the same quarterback.
On the road, offensively,
they're not the same team.
So we'll see.
In fact, let me look at the numbers right here.
Here's Jared Goff on the road.
Oh, there you go.
All right.
Touchdown interception.
11 touchdowns 10 picks.
Quarterback rating loses 30%.
To me, the proof of it is Jared Goff, big contract,
going to Cleveland with a good pass rush and win.
Eric Dickerson, Ram guy.
Next.
Don't go anywhere.

Oh, here is Eric Dickerson, one of the great running backs of all time. L.A. Rams, five years with a
Colts, let's forget about those years. The Rams year,
really great years. NFL leader
in rushing four times, eighth, top
ten all time. And
let's, first of all, let's talk about
you're going to defend Baker Mayfield, who spent
the offseason and shooting 13 commercials
instead of being Lamar Jackson
and putting on 20 pounds to his traps
and his neck and his, Lamar Jackson's
like, I got a gun show. He went out there and molded
his body. The other guy, bank
account, Baker Mayfield. What did
you do in the off seasons? I want commitment for
my quarterbacks, not TV commercials, before you're
good. Come on, Colin, come
on. Look, you're supposed to have an off-season.
What are he supposed to do? I mean...
Wait room. Film room. He's supposed to go
on vacation. He's supposed to have fun.
He got married, beautiful girl.
He's supposed to get married. If he wants to get married,
he's supposed to go to Hawaii. You know what they call it?
The off-season. What did you do?
I just got fat after my first year. I just laid around.
You know, I didn't, but I wasn't doing no commercials.
You know, they weren't doing that for us back in those days.
Man, I just relaxed. Really, I got to say,
I relaxed. I enjoyed my off-season.
I didn't work out for four months.
I started working out probably about a month before.
And that was the year I remember for 2,000 yards.
I came back, you know, that year I ran for 2000.
I started working out like three weeks before and got in shape.
Well, you're a running back.
And what's the deal?
I'm a football player.
Quarterbacks is a lot more demanding.
Oh, my gosh.
So what is he supposed to be doing this?
The whole obviously, boy, let me look at this book.
Let me look, let me, let me start these playing and studied all these plays.
Then all of a sudden he messed up and said, boy, he must have studied too much.
He watched he looked at too much films.
You watch Lamar Jackson play?
Looks like he had his head in that playbook.
First of all, this is the second year.
I mean, his second year.
And one thing about the National Football League,
everybody has a tendency.
They catch up to you.
Yes, they do.
And it's only two games.
I mean, the season's not over.
You act like, you know, you have to, it's over.
So give him a shot.
Listen, I got to tell you something.
Aaron Donald doesn't have a sack.
Todd Gurley, and I love him,
you're not the same dude.
You know that.
Come on, man.
Offensive line is old.
The Rams don't look as dynamic.
Aaron Donald doesn't have a sack.
Well, first of all, we didn't look dynamic to a lot of you reporters, you included last year, especially like the last six.
Oh, the Rams, they're not going to make it.
The Rams are this.
Now, I'm saying the Rams are going to, I'm shocked the Rams got in.
You know, Aaron Donne, not having a sack is not shocking.
You know, first of all, Aaron Down has really changed the way that people look at his position.
He's an interior lineman.
And that's a lot goes on that interior line.
If you talk to any, if you talked to, talk to Freddie Kitchens about him, he was in Arizona.
So he knows Aaron Donald.
They saw him twice a year, so he knows what he can do.
If you think that the Cleveland Browns aren't telling their offensive line,
look, we're going to double Aaron Don.
That's what they do.
When they stop doubling Aaron Donnell, then you have to worry about it.
But right now, he's the best player in football.
All right, you don't want to call him the best?
Call him in the top three players in football.
But most definitely the best defensive lineman in the game right now.
Guy, you have to double.
You're not worried about Gurley.
You're not worried about Jared Doss Road splits?
You know, I'm not worried about Todd because, you know, I think this is what I've heard.
They're trying to do with Todd because he was, I guess, the most used back in the last two years.
He and Levian Bell, like ridiculous.
Okay.
So, you know, it's almost like they did myself and Craig James in college.
You know, they're going by rotation.
Like if I'm up, if I start the game, if I have a 14-play drive, it was my 14 plays.
And the next guy when he comes, if he has a 6-play drive, those are his 6-plays.
Then you're up.
I've got to say you want to play as a running back most definitely,
but when I came into the National Football League,
I had no injuries.
I had no surgeries.
I had no knee problems.
I was injury-free.
So they're trying to save Todd,
and I know as a back,
you don't want that,
but they're trying to help him.
He's trying to help him.
He already got his money.
He's got his money,
but still you want to play.
I mean, you do want to play.
And Jared Goff on the road,
look, Jared's still a young, young quarterback.
I mean, it was his fourth year.
He's still considered a young quarterback.
And he's in Los Angeles.
He's in LA, so it's going to be the spotlight.
They went the Super Bowl last year.
You know, one thing, he might not play well on the road all the time, but the thing is,
we win.
It's about winning.
A lot of people are upset the way it was handled with Eli Manning, but when you draft
a quarterback six and you see all the young quarterbacks working, you're going to play him.
And frankly, he's the highest paid player in NFL history.
They have went out and helped him with offensive guys.
I think they've handled Eli.
Listen, I said this earlier.
men are good at pickup lines.
We're not good at breaking up.
Right.
We're not good at ending relationships, even with our quarterbacks.
Like it's bumpy.
It's okay.
This is how it ends, right?
That's football.
You know, we all get old except Tom Brady.
I mean, we all get old.
You know, and I'll say this much yet,
Tom Brady, when it happens for him,
he's earned the right playing in nine Super Bowls,
winning six of them.
He's earned that right to,
I know Tom Pop won't,
linger around for two or three years. He's earned that right.
Eli, it's been so long since
Eli won a Super Bowl. People forget.
They want to know, what have you done for me?
Not lately yet today. What have you
done for me today? Eli, he
did it to when Kurt Warner came there. Kurt was
there. He was a starting quarterback. Kurt was getting
old they thought. Eli's the young
guy. They just drafted. Let's put Eli in.
Even Kurt wouldn't play in the Super Bowl here and win
in Arizona. But
Father Time, I mean, look, Father Time loses no
he loses no races. He wins them all.
You know, I want to throw some
stats up for you. Okay.
Why don't you let Eric Dickerson Hall of Famer.
So I'm going to throw some stats.
Okay. Between Lamar and Baker.
Same division now. Okay.
Lamar's 8 and 1 as a starter. Baker 7 and 8.
Touchdown interceptions. All touchdowns count.
Lamar 18. Three picks. Baker 2918.
Passer rating, Lamar advantage. Athletic ability, Lamar.
By the way, that's with Baker having a better running back, Nick Chubb.
and two better receivers, OBJ and Jarvis Landry.
Okay.
Are we sure Baker's better than Lamar Jackson?
I don't have an opinion.
I'm saying that the number stuff, the fact stuff,
are we sure Baker's better than Lamar?
And how many, what is this through?
Well, I mean, well, one guy started 15 games, one nine.
I mean, okay.
Okay, I'm looking at all those, that's the fact stuff.
Okay, that's facts.
Okay, are we sure the guy on the right, it's better than the guy on the left?
We can't say either.
Is their career, are their careers over with yet?
Well, that, come on.
That's like, no, you have to ask that.
Look, that's part of, are they in the middle of their career?
They're in the beginning stages of their career, both of these guys.
What are your eyes tell you?
I like Baker.
I like Baker.
And I like Lamar.
I like both.
I like both guys.
Look, one thing about Baker.
Baker has, all of a sudden, he's got OBJ now.
You know, he has Landry.
He has a better coach.
Off his line, not great, a defense.
But, and he has a running back.
You know, all of a sudden, you know, they expect him to just be like,
Tom Brady or
I mean
Jared Gough
they want him to be that guy
these are two young
quarterbacks I mean
alright when when
Lamar Jackson drops off
now what because he's going to drop off it happens
well he's not going to do he's not going to
throw for 500 yards in a game
yeah it doesn't have the dolphins on his schedule
13 times yeah but I'm right so
so it happens I mean you're going to
you're going to have the in football you have
these moments you have like this it's up and down
you got up and all of a sudden we all we love him
He's a great.
Now, a sudden he doesn't look the same all of a sudden.
You know, he's not throwing the same.
You know, he had three interceptions.
You know, those interceptions that he had in that first game, Baker Mayfield, he's trying to make something happen.
And also, to defend him, he was under duress.
Exactly.
Tennessee's defensive line overwhelmed Cleveland's offensive line.
People think I always bang on Baker.
I came on the air.
Joey was here.
I didn't blame him in week one.
I thought they were out-coached.
I thought they had 18 penalties.
I thought the Cleveland Brown's offensive line stinks.
I didn't blame Baker for week one.
I do think last week he didn't play well.
He didn't play well, but you know what the big thing is?
It's not sometimes not playing with it if you win.
And let me tell you, this week he's going to be under the rest again.
Cleveland does not have a good offensive line.
They do not.
We're going to put pressure on it.
I mean, Wade Phillips is going to give me some looks,
and he has to get rid of the ball faster.
For me, hold on to it so we can sack him.
I mean, I want us to win.
Yeah.
By the way, Green Bay has been a little choppy offensively with a new coach.
Go back to your career.
Vince Farragamo is a quarterback,
and then you had Jeff George.
When you get a new coordinator.
Now, you were a running back, so your job was mostly, Eric, go be great.
But quarterbacks have to audible.
They've got to know, how long should we give a team with a new coordinator or a new coach?
Freddie Kitchens, Matt LaFleur, seven games, eight Thanksgiving.
You were there.
You were there. You know, sometimes it takes a year.
I mean, I know it, I mean, you know, they don't want that anymore.
They want to happen overnight because, you know, the game is all about throwing the football and scoring points.
But sometimes it takes a year.
You have to get used to him.
You have to get used to his calls.
He has to get used to you.
The running back has to get used to the offensive line,
the different plays you run.
Sometimes the 246, 8 hole is on the right.
With another coach, the 246 is flipped around.
So you have to get used to everything is different.
So, you know, I know, Aaron, I mean,
Aaron is a great quarterback,
but you have to give him some time.
I mean, you really do.
I mean, I just believe that sometimes it happens fast
and sometimes it doesn't.
Eric Dickerson, a Hall of Famer, Fox Sports, NFL analyst,
Good seeing you as always.
Good seeing you, too.
Thursday night game tonight.
It's kind of crappy.
Texans, excuse me, Titans and Jags.
I'll take the, I don't know who I'll take.
I'll take.
I'll take the Texans, I'm from Texas.
Well, it's the Titans, right?
Oh, well, they used to be in Texas.

Thursday night football is on NFL network.
It's a primetime showdown between division rivals.
Titans, Jaguars, we're all rivals here.
Thursday night football tonight, 8 Eastern only on NFL network.
By the way, the Titans are the weirdest organization in the NFL.
They can never beat the Colts and they always beat the Jags.
So they've beaten some really good Jags teams and they can never beat bad Colts teams.
I can't, and they're done with Mario, by the way.
That ship has sailed.
They are done with Mario.
They are done with him.
He might go on a row.
You never know.
Well, we'll see.
And the Titans are weird.
They'll be great on the road, and it'll come home and lay an egg.
They're a weird organization.
T.J. Hushmanzada, 11 years in the NFL, drafted seventh round, a great American success story.
So this morning, I've been pretty rough.
I've said, listen, I'm a big believer in this.
Be great, then build your brand.
Tom Brady didn't have a brand for eight years.
Kobe didn't have one for seven.
Accomplished stuff.
When I go speak to broadcasters, I always say this to him, T.J.
Why don't you get good before you're a smart aleck on the internet?
Before you take shots at broadcasters, why don't you get employed in good?
But what gets them notice first is taking shots?
But I tell my daughter this.
So don't worry about followers.
Worry about how people look at you and do they think you're classy, smart, respect.
No employer's going to go, ooh, she's got 6,000 followers and she's naked on the internet.
I'm like, you can get more followers doing like salacious stuff.
So my point is, Baker's on every commercial I watch.
He's a losing record.
Now he's struggling.
I mean, it's enough to get married in the offseason.
That takes your time.
He's on every commercial I watch.
His last 15 tweets, they're all commercials, all shot in the off season.
Is it possible he was worried about his brand as much as football?
Everybody has free time.
I'll answer that and say no.
Put it in concert.
Everybody has free time.
And in his free time, he's doing interviews.
He's shooting commercials.
Did it take away from him getting ready for the season?
No, the Browns just aren't, number one,
they played a really good Tennessee Titan team first game.
Defensively, the Titans can play defense.
Oh, yeah.
The Jets can play defense as well,
even though they're missing a ton of starters.
He's just not playing well.
He's holding onto the ball.
What does that tell you?
What does holding onto the ball mean to you?
Uncertainty and what he's seeing.
Okay, so he's confused a little.
He's either confused or his receivers aren't getting open,
and so I'm going to go and say it's not the receiver's not getting open.
It's just uncertainty in what he's seeing.
Okay, so now, by the way, I would defend him on that.
I think I'm going to give you two years to figure out what every defense looks like.
So you think, I look at him and I think, you know what Baker did?
And he really rolled the dice on this.
He's very aggressive guy.
He's a very aggressive person.
I mean, I ripped him and he came on the show.
Most people I rip, I invite him, they never show up.
So to his credit, Baker comes on the show, and I rip.
I'd bring them back tomorrow if I could.
I don't care if I get ripped.
Just come on the show.
He's willing to do that.
He rolled the dice.
Most people wait to be good, then do the brand.
He said, I'm going to do the brand.
Now, that's okay if you win.
But when you're the exception in life and you lose, it's not nearly as cool.
And he believes in himself.
He believes he's going to win.
And you got to also think he was the first pick.
When you are the first pick, Tom Brady wasn't.
Kobe Bryant wasn't.
When you are the first pick, people are coming.
after you, especially in NFL
draft this day and age,
with everything gets instant, social
media, he's probably
had a ton of opportunities, turned a ton
down, and accepted a few.
And so with him being drafted where he
was, had a pretty good rookie season
when he got a chance to play. Everybody wants
his attention. How much
I thought
Josh Allen was going to be a complete project.
He's looked pretty good. I thought
Lamar Jackson was going to be a project,
meaning just sit for two years. They've both been
really good. Lamar's been spectacular.
I want to give the athlete
credit, but part of me is like
the Ravens have done a really good job
supporting Lamar, and the bills have done
a great, Bill's defense is good too. They've done
a really good job. How much is, should
I say, like if I put
Lamar's stats up against Baker,
Lamar looks way better. But that's
because Baltimore's got way better people and
personnel. They got a way better coach. They got a way
better coach. How much does coaching matter
structure for the young player?
Oh, that's more important than almost
anything aside from having good players to play.
Well, you say it all the time.
Ownership, general manager,
head coach, Steve Boshaddy,
new gym, not Newsome anymore.
DeCosta. Yep.
And Harbaugh. They have a good structure at the top.
And that structure has been there put in place for years and years and years.
Cleveland is trying to get that.
And so Baltimore, they're going to win regardless.
And Lamar Jackson was fortunate enough.
to get drafted to a team that has great structure.
They're going to put you in a position to succeed.
Whereas Baker, he's trying to find his way
within the Cleveland Brown's organization from ownership,
Dorsey to GM, Freddie Kitchens is first year as a head coach.
So they're trying to find their way.
And so it's not surprising that Lamar Jackson is playing well
because of what he's under.
Do you, so this week they play the Rams.
It's funny.
I said, I think the pressure is on the Rams
because the Rams backed up the Brinks truck.
Really?
Okay, they paid less need their GM.
They paid McVade.
They paid Gurley.
They paid Aaron.
They played golf.
They win the Super Bowl.
They're supposed to go in and walk over this team.
Cleveland's a bunch of kids.
They're paying OBJ and Jarvis Landry.
My expectations for Cleveland are like, if Cleveland loses 2320, I'll tell you what I'm going to say Monday.
I'd feel pretty good if I was Cleveland.
If the Rams lose 2320, my takeaway is they haven't looked good since the NFC championship
overtime. Like I think that the Rams backed up the Brinks truck to everybody. They're paying everybody.
Cleveland's not paying anybody but OBJ and Jarvis land. They're paying their receivers.
Like to me, I look at this game and I'm like, Rams, everybody here's got a $100 million contract.
You have to go to Cleveland and win. I don't think Cleveland has to win.
If they lose, they're two and one. We got things to work on. It's no big deal. The Rams are the Rams.
And the funny thing is the rounds were once Cleveland Browns. They were once the Cleveland Browns. Losing, losing.
losing, losing,
get a good head coach,
now we're winning.
So now our expectations are here,
and that's okay because our expectations
for ourselves are here.
If they lose this game,
have they played well?
No.
They struggle first game against the Panthers
and seeing how the Panthers looks again,
they struggled.
Against Teddy Bridgewater.
Without Drew Breeze.
But how many teams that are on to
say, man, I love to struggle and be 2-0.
They're 2-0.
They've won, I don't care how you struggle.
You've won both games.
Who is the best?
team you ever played on? Probably the 06 Bengals team or the team that I play with in Baltimore.
Were you able to win games playing poorly? Baltimore, yes. Cincinnati, no, because we had lost
so much that when you played poorly, guys would be like, oh, man, here we go again. But Baltimore,
you could play ugly like the Rams and win. Yes. And you think a lot of that was just the structure
of the organization. It was a structure. You had Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. Like, I had never seen
I mean, when I went to Baltimore, I had never seen anything like what they would do.
Like, they'd walk around all day long with the little DVD player.
Now it'd be an iPad, but it was a DVD player.
Like all day.
Ed Reed and Ray, just all day.
Walk around, eat lunch, DVD player.
And a hot tub, DVD player.
Getting ready for practice, DVD player.
It's all they did all day.
Would you hold around in Cincinnati would you have in your hands?
Nobody did that.
I will say that.
You didn't even have water there your first couple years.
Remember that?
We didn't have bottled water, Gatorade, no.
But, I mean, it's different.
And so I didn't know any better until you talk to other people around the league and say, oh, it's like this.
But Ray and Ed had, they set a culture in Baltimore, and everybody that came in, they just followed suit.
What do you make of the way the Giants let go of Eli?
Doesn't bother me.
Does it bother you?
It does not.
The only thing that I wish they would have done was when you drive Daniel Jones, he's going to be the starter.
What did the owner say?
Our plan is for him to sit the entire year.
If that's your plan, then let him sit.
what did you think was going to happen after two games?
Honestly, did they think they would be two and oh?
Golden Tate camp played the first four games.
Sterling Shepard got hurt in training camp.
He was out.
Like, what did you think was going to happen after two games,
that they would be two and oh or one and one?
And so now that he's 0 and two, we're going to bench him.
Is that a surprise that they're on to?
Not really.
And so.
Opened up at Dallas.
Where did the Giants play last week again?
Buffalo.
No, Buffalo.
McDermine, he's good on defense.
He's a good defensive coach.
You should beat Buffalo in your home opener.
There's always two teams in each conference that surprise you.
Buffalo could be that team this year and the AFC that just they're going to play well defensively.
They always have since McDermott's been a head coach.
And Josh Allen looks like he's getting it.
And so Eli, give him some time.
They've given him years and years or just say Daniel Jones as soon as we draft you, you're our quarterback.
Let's go.
Now, if he struggles, you have to keep him in there.
You can't go back to Eli.
Like, that's the only problem is Eli's over his shoulder.
Like, I'm still here, guys.
And you don't want that.
T.J. Hushmanzada.
So this is a good question for you, I think, because you are in coaching.
You mentor a lot of young kids and a lot of great high school football players.
Is even on the West Coast, Arizona State's got a true freshman quarterback.
He's undefeated.
USC has a true freshman quarterback.
He's like 18.
He's good.
He's good.
BYU's got a sophomore.
He looks like he's a senior.
With all these camps over the last 15 years,
these quarterbacks at 13, 14, 15, 16 can read a defense.
They understand football.
It's amazing.
When I'm watching Lamar's growth and I'm thinking maybe this is the new NFL,
where guys are ready, 10 games in.
Maybe it's the new.
I mean, you're in this high school coaching.
It seems to me these guys are way better early.
It's year-round football, Colin?
That's all it is now, right?
It's the football, high school football will end.
if you make it to CIF and states in December,
or first week of December.
California.
In California.
They'll take the rest of the year off.
They'll start seven on seven in January.
Practice, start playing in February.
And seven on seven is all passing.
And so teams are going to play cover one.
They're going to play cover two.
They're going to play cover two.
They're going to play cover four.
And so they get an idea of what a defense back in looks like
and where to go with the ball.
And there's a lot of professional athletes that are coaching.
and kind of teaching them, okay, when you get single high, you want to look here.
You get too high.
You want to look here.
Understand the difference in how the safety is splitting.
Too high.
It can be covered four.
It can be covered two.
It can be cover six.
And so they're just well versed because it's basically the year-round football now.
It is amazing.
Like how good Patrick Mahomes is today.
These kids are coming out.
Like Tom Brady was good.
By about year five, you were like, Tom's ready to go.
I'm watching Mahomes now.
It's like it's incredible.
I mean, now some of it's town.
Mahomes is out of this world.
What he's doing is almost.
Unheard of.
Nobody's ever been this great this early in my lifetime.
Bradshaw wasn't this good early.
Aikman wasn't.
Fouts wasn't.
Montana wasn't.
Marino wasn't.
Elway wasn't.
Nobody's been as good this early as Patrick Mahomes in my life.
And he's like last year was like, oh, this year they're going to figure him out.
None.
He's just, he's that good.
But it helps that he has Handy Reid.
Handy Reid is probably the best play caller in the history of the NFL.
A great play designer too.
He, when I,
I was playing with the Bengals.
I used to be like, why we don't steal this play?
And when he was with the Eagles, he would run naked bootlegs.
The tight end would run a crossing route.
The safety would jump on.
The tight end would just go straight down the center of the field wide open.
Nobody was doing that.
And this was 10, 15 years ago.
And just his designs of plays and his creativity in his mind,
Andy Reid plays a big part in that.
Good seeing you, buddy.
Thank you, the same.
Tjah Hushman's out.

So Cam Neuon is not practicing today after re-aggraving his foot injury and last week's loss to the bucks.
This is his third straight day that he has not been at practice. And yesterday he was in a walking booth.
So Ron Rivera addressed the media today and he was pretty frustrated with all the questions about Cam.
I'm not going to talk about it anymore, guys.
I mean, let's talk about Arizona.
I mean, I haven't really talked about Arizona, you know,
so it would be good to answer those kinds of questions.
That's what happened.
We got to start.
I know it's about Cam, but that's, you know, we won't,
I don't know anymore until tomorrow.
So let's just, you know, let's talk about Arizona.
If not, there's no reason for me to stand here.
You felt before they opened her, you were 100% company who was going to be ready to go.
Where are you going to that level now?
I just asked me questions about somebody else.
I'm not going to do this anymore, okay?
I told you, I won't know anything until tomorrow.
Okay.
Thank you.
God, please.
I mean, I kind of feel him.
He doesn't have an answer.
Like, if he doesn't have an answer, he doesn't have an answer.
Ron's one of the nicest guys.
Everybody loves Ron, but he's just worn out.
Belichick would have been much less decor
that Belichick was doing that.
I mean, there's just nothing else you can say.
We're not going to have, he hasn't been practicing.
He's likely going to be out.
Kyle Allen will likely be the starter.
We don't have any more answers.
We know he was injured before the season started.
So, of course, he was never 100%.
Carolina is a smaller, kind of a college market.
And I've always said this.
When you get to smaller markets, Buffalo, Green Bay, Carolina,
they're much more protective of their stars.
Whereas in Los Angeles, we bail on people, you know, every day of the week.
Half the city's actors, transient, nobody cares.
I saw a story this morning where I'm not going to say the person's name.
He covers Carolina.
He goes, Cam Newton's had a different starting left tackle every year since 2013.
And my takeaway is, if you watch the revolving door at left tackle for Tom Brady,
Russell Wilson for seven years.
I think they're in a tough spot in Carolina.
Cam's the City.
I mean, if Michael Jordan didn't own the team,
he would be the celebrity,
and it's tough because his contract's coming up.
He's not playing well.
I think it puts everybody in that a little bit like Eli.
There's a little walking on eggshells with Cam right now
because he's not playing well.
He's hurt, and he's so big in that.
Mike Shoshchewski, Roy Williams,
Michael Jordan and Cam are the city.
I mean, he's bigger than the city.
Cam is really a superstar.
Cam was ahead of his time.
Everything that's going on with Odell, that was Cam.
With the fashion and transcending and crossing over, like, that's Cam.
And that's why I do think that the league is better when Cam is playing at a high level
because he has that superstar factor to him.
No, he's just a disappointing start of the season.
But it's why I said, I don't like that he's coming into the season injured
because you come in injured, you're going to leave injured.
It's similar to what's happening with Odell.
Are you at 100%? No.
Now, coming out of training camp, nobody's really at 100%.
But you don't want to be coming in with an injury.
So we may see Kyle Allen on Sunday, but we're not going to know.
And Ron Rivera doesn't have the answers right now.
So Ezekiel Elliott missed 40 days of team activities during his holdout,
but missing most of camp hasn't slowed him down in the regular season.
He's already rushed for 164 yards,
which is the highest total through the first two games of a regular season in his career.
His 4.6 yards per carrier and two rushing touchdowns also tie his personal best.
And he's played 90 snaps this year.
That's down from 109 at this point last season with 36 carries so far this season.
Well, they have more weapons.
Witten's back, Randall Cobb, Michael Gallup.
They shouldn't have to carry him as much.
Mari Cooper.
And by the way, now, I'm not saying this is going to happen,
but if they get up to a 7-1, 8-1 start,
some of the teams in their division are rebuilding,
you should be able to peel back on Ezekiel.
By the way, don't do what Ram did with Gurley,
and all of a sudden you wake up, and it's November,
and you're like, we've got a running back who can't carry the load.
Well, they also probably wanted to ease them in,
because he was out for all in training camp.
But like you said earlier, this is also kind of good for running backs
because what we've seen with Levyon Bell as well,
obviously he had an MRI in his shoulder, a little soreness, but he's fine.
They don't really need to be out there in the preseason
as long as they're taking some impact in camp, which is what Levyon asked for.
Put a little on me, play practice at 100%,
and I don't need to be out there in preseason.
But this is also why this is a good sign for the Cowboys long term throughout the season,
because if you have a healthy Ezekieliot who's available
and out there with all the weapons that they have,
it's just another piece to support DAC,
Scott and I think they're going to be, I mean, I think they're in the Super Bowl this year, but
I'm very high on the Cowboys right now.
Finally, Odell has turned his watch controversy into an endorsement deal.
Not very shocking.
Swedish watchmaker Daniel Wellington announced a partnership with Odell yesterday.
It was a watchgate for the first couple of weeks.
He wore a very expensive Richard Mill watch during the game, which was like $250,000.
Did he wear it against the Jets?
He did not.
No.
He had it on, though.
It was a different one, and that one was worth like $2 million.
So he wore a...
I don't remember.
He didn't wear a watch against the jetry.
He did.
No, he did not.
Okay, he did not.
He did not.
Yeah.
So, but this has turned into an endorsement now.
And these are much more affordable.
So if you want an Odell, Daniel Wellington watch, you can get one for about a hundred and...
Oh, I don't know which ones are how much the O'Dell ones are going to cost, but they retail
for around $179.
You know, I have a question.
If I went on the air and just...
And I'm not...
I'm just saying if I did this.
I went on the air and just started wearing like a certain watch.
Right.
You would get stuff?
Were I get in trouble from the FCC?
Well, yeah, that's, if somebody gives you a watch.
I can't do that, right?
You could wear it, but you couldn't talk about it.
So I could go.
I'd like to talk about a huge rant today.
Well, I mean, it's on your wrist if we're going to see it.
But if you, like, are like sneaking it into conversation.
Like, by the way, Odell has this watch and I'm wearing this particular watch and they give it to you for free.
What if I put a sprite can right there?
Oh, like Saban does with the...
Why can't I do that?
Well, they have to pay the company.
If they pay the company and they pay you, then it's fine.
Yeah, but company...
What if I put it on my shoulder so it's on my person?
Not on, like, the company's desk.
I'm just...
Like, I did the show and I drank a Sprite the entire time.
Is it illegal for me to get paid for that?
Yes, it is.
It is.
It's called payola, yes.
Should have been a wide receiver.
Wear stuff and you just get big...
Well, I mean, this was obviously what was going to be...
going to happen. And you went through a little less dramatically than Antonio Brown did with the
helmet. But so you and I can't get money that way. No. What if I, what if I said on the air,
hmm, those were delicious corn nuts I just had brought to you by Nabisco. Can I do that?
Did they pay you but not pay Fox? No, I don't, but I'm trying to get a deal from Nebraska.
Oh. Well, I mean, I don't think they can crawl in your brain and decide that that's how you went about
it. But eventually you'll have to pay the company. Yeah. I'm just saying OBJ has given me a lot of new
ideas. I mean, you have social media. You could just hop on the gram and make all kinds of money
calling. Oh, good Lord. If you need another revenue. I'm going to do it right now. Yeah. I'm sure,
I'm sure that corn nuts would probably give you some money for Instagram. I'm going to do it right now.
Can I do this live on the air? I don't think so. Well, it won't be on the air. I'm going to just say,
I love corn nuts. Let's see how it plays out. Okay. Okay, hold on. I love corn nuts. I also love
corn nuts. Okay, I just did it. I want
to see if I get an offer.
Okay, I love corn nuts. All right,
I just put it on my Twitter account. Let's see how the world
reacts to it. Do you have a problem with O'Dell doing this?
Because you didn't like all the endorsements
Baker was doing. Maybe I've changed my mind.
Oh, okay. Depends on what happens with my new deal.
Enjoy
with the news. Well, that's the
news. And thanks for stopping by.
The herd lie news.
Been up there for a couple of minutes.
Well, I can't say that on the air. Okay.

we're off to a really hot start blazing five last week four and one
which it's harder in the first two weeks of the year for me.
And all betting in college football and basketball, NFL, NBA.
Earlier in seasons, the harder it is.
Seasons, first of all, some people in September are experimenting.
I mean, you don't know, Alabama's playing, you know, teams that are 30-point dogs.
I always think it's very difficult early in the season.
September's not one of my best months.
I'm like the Patriots.
My September's choppy.
But I've had a great start blazing five.
And I've been bumpy in my college pick so far.
But now I feel like I'm getting, I've seen Arizona State, I've seen BYU, I've seen Georgia,
I've seen Notre Dame, I've seen everybody play.
And so I'm feeling like this week I feel great about my picks.
And so Marquis 3 is something we do now.
At the end of our show on Thursday, it's my best college picks, my top three.
I try to take games that will be on television so we can kind of play together.
All these odds are provided by Fox Bet.
And here we go with our Markey 3.
Ready to make some sweet cash?
Colin's going to give you his three sure bets for the college football weekend.
It's time for the Fox Bet Marquis 3.
Auburn at Texas A&M at home's a three and a half point favorite.
I'm going to roll with the Aggies and take them.
Auburn has not played well.
Take that.
Even the Oregon game they won, they were outplayed for most of it.
They're not good against SEC teams.
Four of the last six against the SEC they've lost,
including four consecutive road games against ranked opponents,
and the quarterback Bo Nix is really, really struggling.
52% completion rate.
Texas A&M, meanwhile, if you take out their games against Clemson and Alabama,
they're 11 and 2 in their last 13.
They're struggling against the teams that beat everybody.
And they've won seven straight at home.
I'm going to take Texas A&M to win this game, 36 to 27.
I like the direction of the program.
I like their vibe.
and they're really good at home.
Washington at
BYU. Like it, I love it.
Play of the weekend. Washington
minus six and a half, so they have to win by a touchdown.
I'll take the Huskies.
They have led the Pac-12 in scoring defense,
and they've led the Pac-12 in total defense
the last several years, in fact, four.
What does that tell you?
They are brilliantly coached.
Jacob Eason has completed almost 70% of his throws.
They've upgraded from,
last year at quarterback, and here's the key to this game.
BYU has played back to back.
Highly emotional overtime games.
I think they come back down to earth.
They're playing around with uniforms this week at BYU to make the game special.
Washington is healthier, and they cover the spread.
Huskies win 30 to 20.
Notre Dame at Georgia.
Initially, I thought I kind of like Notre Dame getting a couple of touchdowns.
Once you go deep diving on this game, it becomes very clear this is going to be problematic for Notre Dame.
I'm going to take Georgia at home minus 14 and a half points.
Notre Dame has lost 10 straight games to top five teams.
Georgia is a monster at home.
15 straight home wins.
Fourth longest streak in the country.
And they're averaging 43 points in those games under Kirby Smart.
And again, against opponents not named Alabama or LSU,
They're 27 and two in all these games.
And they're averaging this year.
We knew they'd be good defensively with Kirby Smart.
They're averaging 8.7 yards a play.
That is incredible.
Notre Dame's run defense is their weakness.
Georgia's run offense is their strength.
I'm going to take Georgia.
It is a big number 14 and a half,
but I'm going to take them to win by 16, 36 to 20.
That is my marquee three odds provided by Fox Bet.
I'm going to take Texas A&M to beat Auburn in cover.
I'm going to take Washington to beat BYU and cover.
And I'm going to take Georgia.
There you go.
I got the Aggies.
I got the Huskies and I got Georgia.
Initially, I like Notre Dame on that.
And then Joel Klatt said something I thought, I'm going to do a little inspecting.
Last night with my torn calf, I just sat there eating corn nuts.

Alabama's Nick Saban, I thought, said something that was very interesting.
He was interviewed recently, and he was talking about, you know, he went to the NFL,
and it didn't go great for him.
Nick Saban, you know, he went to Miami.
It wasn't a disaster.
It wasn't spurrier to the Redskins.
It wasn't man overboard.
But he said it was a huge mistake for me, said Nick Sabin,
to leave college football.
He said, and I know a lot of LSU fans think I left for whatever reasons,
but I left because I wanted to be a pro coach or thought I wanted to be a pro coach.
We loved LSU.
We worked really hard to build the program.
If there was one professional mistake I have made, I would not leave LSU.
And, you know, I do think it's interesting.
Saban, I think, would have succeeded in the NFL because whenever people say, you know,
they say, well, is it Brady or Belichick?
I love Belichick, but it's Brady.
So Pete Carroll fired twice in the NFL, went to Seattle, 7-9-7-9.
Russell Wilson arrives, Pete's a legend.
Jimmy Johnson, Troy Aikman, two Super Bowls, goes to Miami with an old Dan Marino.
He was 36 and 28 and 4 years.
And then Belichick, before Tom Brady, Cleveland, New England, was 41 and 55.
So the only reason Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach in the history of the sport, and he is,
is because a doctor in Miami would not clear him to get Drew Breeze.
That's the story, that Saban wanted Drew Breeze.
And Breeze had been injured in San Diego, and he's like, I want Drew Breeze.
And one doctor would not clear him to take Drew Breeze, and you're not going to win in the NFL.
Belichick couldn't win.
Pete Carroll couldn't win.
And Jimmy Johnson didn't win as much.
I think Sabin's one of the best coaches I've ever seen.
But one doctor changed everything.
And that's what team doctors do.
And they said no on Drew Breeze.
So I would love, I actually would love, it's a great story.
Somebody should do a book on the doctor in Miami.
Sam says we have a picture of the doctor in Miami.
Team doctor was Dr. William Belichick.
Yeah.
He's been known to...
He said no.
He was the doctor of the dolphins, a team doctor.
Right.
And he said, we can't have Drew Brees.
He would think someone would have recognized him, but...
That's a good pickup by you, Joe.
He was so obvious.
Yeah, it's like the Superman.
Arc Kent's like...
He looked just like him.
He looked just like him.
Who could tell?
But it is interesting.
Herm Edwards told me that once.
He goes, you know, if I got, you know, all the fame quarterback,
I would not be a broadcaster.
He goes, I love broadcasting, but it's way more fun.
to win playoff games.
And so that's kind of the way it works.
By the way, one of the interesting games this week is Patrick Mahomes against Lamar Jackson.
My lord, that's going to be really interesting.
It is, I'll show you that picture again.
I got to tell you, one of the things I really like about Lamar Jackson,
so Joy and I come to the morning meeting.
And this morning, we had a frame on the wall.
We have this big video projector, and there was a picture of Lamar Jackson.
And I said, is it me?
Or did Lamar Jackson in the offseason put on 20 pounds as traps?
And we went online and here's the picture.
Lamar Jackson, and this is what I really like about him, not just the quiet.
You know, he hired his mom as his agent.
He's not into all the stuff.
That dude, somebody, listen, Lamar sat there and said, listen, I got to get bigger.
These guys are big and they hit hard.
Yeah, he's a man body now.
He's got, it's like Lonzo Ball did that, as you pointed out earlier.
Like so, you know, not that I'm not that I'm.
always banging on, you know, Baker Mayfield, but there's something to be said like,
what are you doing your first off season? Do fewer commercials. Do what Lamar Jackson's doing,
because he has reshaped his, I can't wait. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. All right,
speak for yourself is right around the corner. Speaking of reshaping your body,
Whitlock looks like a million bucks. All right, SFY next.
