Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. Starting point is 00:01:04 I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman. Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
Starting point is 00:01:42 That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves. their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicalife-Life-12
Starting point is 00:02:06 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. The volume. Champ, how you feeling? Nice at a guy. I'm feeling como. Pronto. Prepared. I'm ready.
Starting point is 00:02:24 I'm ready. I'm prepared. I want it. So many big fights in this career. Where does this from stack up with all the fights that he's had? Tantas, grand, yep, in your life, where is that you're in this moment? Like, something gigante? It's a lot for Tito, a man who came talking much.
Starting point is 00:02:44 It's a great route. Something enormous, something for our title, for a guy who's been talking a lot, it's a great fight. Yeah, speaking to talking, right? Ilya had a lot to say about the fight. He said for Charles to bring a pillow because he thinks that he's going to, knock him out in the first round?
Starting point is 00:03:03 Like, what does Charles think when he hears stuff like that? He said, he said he said he said, he said, he said, he's going to bring a traveseer, because he will bathe, you just, you're going to put him to dream in the first round.
Starting point is 00:03:13 What you see this? You've seen this, various of these guys that said, you know what you're saying? You've seen this a lot. Yeah. Talk a lot, and then talk up a good game, and then they,
Starting point is 00:03:24 they wouldn't go to face you up there, what happens? Mm-hmm. So he's fought a lot of powerful guys, but can he look at Ilya and in his boxing, can he find a style that really does prepare him for
Starting point is 00:03:40 a guy and also the confidence of him being undefeated, I think, is what guides Ilya or he. Or so he took a carer very strong, but in the box of his, the manner how he he's, you can't, in the style of
Starting point is 00:03:57 Ilia, you can see ways to win. And also, The fact that he don't just with a box but he's with with that even with that maybe chendro Michael Chentel
Starting point is 00:04:05 he was a guy a goodyce, a guy who's a good guy who has a lot of a box is very fiat and he has many
Starting point is 00:04:11 many names this division with the guys good of the guys good of box and the guys guys
Starting point is 00:04:16 good of course for all of the Fisca me put up because I can do you I respect to him
Starting point is 00:04:22 but in but in fact I believe I can't I can't the man's Michael Chandler
Starting point is 00:04:26 obviously got a lot of firepower The Zimbaburi hits really hard and those are hits. And I face a lot of different guys. I face guys with all different kinds of styles. And they know that I can front them. The UFC knows that they put me in this place
Starting point is 00:04:41 because I can actually stop him. I believe in this firepower that I have. He thinks he's going to knock him up. You think he's going to go to the country. I believe that I can do this. I have a pot of the fog on the hands. I believe I can do this. I have the firepower on my hands.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Isn't it amazing that on multiple occasions he has done this? But time and time again, people question Charles Dubronk's Olivera. How does he handle that? How motivating is it for him to continuously kind of shut people down and really change those opinions? It's not impressionate that you continue to do. You always, the people continue to discrediting you and not creditor on the potential. Not back to Charles Oliver.
Starting point is 00:05:24 How much value and how it's a good one, you continue, ah, doing this. with the people completely saying that's not going that's not going to be that's very good. What's the people don't understand that the more
Starting point is 00:05:35 they say that I don't I can't, but I want to prove that I can. Look my story there was, I don't put it a ball of football.
Starting point is 00:05:42 I'd live in a house of my mom I didn't have any a chinella. Look at who I'm I'm here. I think I'm like
Starting point is 00:05:48 because these guys say, what they think, what they're really good. The more they talk about it, the more I love
Starting point is 00:05:55 to prove them wrong. And I can do it. Listen, look at, it doesn't matter what they said. Look at where I was back of the day. Thought I was not going to be with play ball. Doctor told me so. I used to live in the back of my grandma's house back in the day. I didn't have money to buy flip-flops, man.
Starting point is 00:06:11 And now look where I am. And look at what I've done. And now I'll continue to do that. And now he's a rich man. Big time guy, you know? That's not done. He's not done. Hebrassad.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Does Charles prefer this type of build to a fight where there is a guy that is talking or does he prefer the fight where it's all just kind of respectful? Because we have seen him involved in all of those fights his entire career. You prefer a lot of like this, that the guy vogue, the gutter, or you prefer that guy that's being more tranquil, who's always the same, most likely, who's always involved in all. So he's what he says. In fact, it doesn't know what's not difference.
Starting point is 00:06:50 I don't feel focused on what they're talking or if not are talking. This is real. In reality, I'm indifferent. I don't care. Really, I don't care. I'm not focused on whatever people saying and what they do and what they think. To me, whatever they say or don't, it doesn't make a difference. You know, it's the summer. Starting point is 00:08:26 A-N-G.com slash audio. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:08:39 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:09:04 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Jenchian went. I mean, she went down at three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world. right now and I actually can win on any surface because if she's serving well good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Before we get into that, before we get into this, so I read this, I put this down in the nose, it wasn't moving.
Starting point is 00:11:47 So you don't have to worry about getting boat sick. are falling off. The fights were in Fouquet. My teammates had to come on the cruise ship and watch if I was fighting a Filipino fighter. It was funny because all the workers on the cruise ship were Filipino. They all came out of the kitchen and came out when we were fighting. It felt like I was fighting Manny Pacquiao
Starting point is 00:12:04 in the Philippines. But I ended up winning. It was less than 30 seconds to fight. And then we got the party on the boat for two days. What in the world is that, Doug? You were fighting on our boats? Yeah, a cruise ship. Yeah, yeah. It was like a movie. Really?
Starting point is 00:12:21 And I can see my opponent when I first saw him. He looked like it was on holiday. And I was like, bro, we're going to fight first. Don't about going on this cruise ship and having a holiday. We're going to throw it down. What was he doing? Partying? I could just see it in his face.
Starting point is 00:12:34 He was kind of dancing and like, it just overwhelmed. He was like, where am I? I'm actually here to work, not to... That is the craziest thing. Yeah. So overnight, we flew to Malaysia. And overnight from Malaysia to Phuket, we came on the boat. So it took about, I don't know, five hours.
Starting point is 00:12:49 five hours to get back to Phuket and then we docked at the port so it wasn't moving and then on the top deck on the 10th story no roof nothing it was out in the open next to the pool like people are like drinking where it's just like normal people on the cruise and they got to watch
Starting point is 00:13:05 a fight? Yeah so they were port and they didn't leave yet and they watch y'all fight yeah they're all just in the pool hanging out and the fights they were like if it rains that's probably going to be cancelled so hopefully it doesn't rain and then yeah we're warming up next to the cocktail bar.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Oh my God. And then they said, we're walking. And then I think the theme of the cruise ship was like a pirate thing. So like the announcer was dressed as a pirate and all of this. But yeah, when I walked out,
Starting point is 00:13:34 I was like, well, I've got business first and then I can party after. You must have a great time. It was like a vacation, a fight and a vacation. Yeah, it was, I think 20 seconds to a whole fight. I dropped him straight away
Starting point is 00:13:44 for our hand of the first punch and then from there, uppercuts until the ref pulled me off. And then, you know, I had two days to have this party and hang out with my friends. That's amazing. Yeah, it was pretty cool bucket list. So the last fight, right? You fought on that cruise ship.
Starting point is 00:13:59 You probably fought all over the place to get to where you are today. We're in Australia. You're fighting Steve Ursaig, who's a tremendous boxer. You hit him. Bang. Put him out clean. You had been gone for a while, right? Taking some time off to recover, get right.
Starting point is 00:14:15 To have that performance there, what did it feel like? like this was his hometown like New Zealand and Australia we're seen as one but when we're fighting each other it's it's a rivalry and it's the shots you don't see coming that hurt you and he didn't see it coming he didn't adjust for the the extra step
Starting point is 00:14:33 I took and he's a great counterfighter but I get we game plan for that that he would try pull and he didn't pull far enough and then that's when that people know him as a from my right hand but the left hand is the one that landed so yeah just from there it's instinct you know I've done this so
Starting point is 00:14:48 so many times now. I know when someone's hurt and that's a skill and, you know, when I saw he was wobbling and I knew, okay, I just need to rush this guy now. He wants a way out and then
Starting point is 00:14:59 the ref had seen enough when I landed that right hand and he just showed up and yeah, it was just a perfect kind of welcome back party and welcome back fight for myself and just cemented me
Starting point is 00:15:10 right where I wanted to be and that's at the top. You were in the octagon after and I'm interviewing you and I said, boy what a left hand because very few 125 founders can put you out like that
Starting point is 00:15:24 and you said I'm Māori bro and the place went absolutely crazy I didn't realize how big that was until I went back home that saying that went super viral in Altauro New Zealand and everywhere I went you know it was such
Starting point is 00:15:42 a simple sentence but so powerful at the same time and just going like I was speaking my truth I didn't rehearse any of that when you told me when he asked me that question none of that was rehearsed I was just going off of how I felt emotion
Starting point is 00:15:57 yeah just emotion you know who I am I don't I don't shy away from being emotional and in my culture in mold a culture showing emotion is a sign of strength yeah and yeah I was just being open and honest so when I said that and I went back home and so many people coming up to me they didn't even watch the fight
Starting point is 00:16:16 they just saw that and they said really You don't know how much you've done for your people. And just knowing that you're able to change someone's, I guess, mood or reaction just from one sentence. I just knew that, like, the next big fight that I'm doing, I'm embodeling all of this. I'm bringing all my culture with me. It's my superpower. It's something that I draw on for strength. It's something that I draw on for protection.
Starting point is 00:16:45 but you don't know until you see it like a haka or our culture how beautiful it is so yeah that's why I get emotional talking about my culture and everything because it means so much to me it is me this weekend you have another opportunity to defend that championship against the guy you fought before Taikara France fought you on the ultimate fighter that was a long time ago
Starting point is 00:17:09 is there anything you could take from that fight or are you two just completely different fighters and you have to prepare yourself for another guy. All the fights different, yeah, same guys, with same guys. Me and him, when you go to the octagon, he's going to remember. I'm winning him one time. But all the fights different. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:17:30 It's 50-fifth all the time. It doesn't matter who you're fighting. It's 55th all the time. And what I want in that fight is an opportunity to show everybody how good I am. And I have this opportunity in the International Fight Week. Yeah. one of the big card of the year. And that's what I want.
Starting point is 00:17:46 I want that fight so bad. I want to fight with the high-level guys. And Carcara fans prove he's a high-level guy. He knocked him out everybody. And he put him in that position, you know. And I want that, you know. He's a Maori style. Yes, he is.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Warrior. Warre. Everything else. His country with him. That's what I want. You know, I want to prove myself all the time. You have beaten so many guys, as I said early. Is that why we're getting Kai Asakura fighting for the belt where somebody else is coming in?
Starting point is 00:18:18 Or Kai Kar-France. Because Kai Kar-France knocked out Steve Erseg, which was crazy. It was a great performance. But prior to that, he had lost two fights. He Instagram messaged you telling you he wanted a title fight. Because you've been so dominant, is that why we're getting you fighting these guys where a guy wins once? And it's a new matchup, so we see him in there with Pantosia? That's something very nice to have, you know.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I gave hope to the whole division. Everybody win the fight, call my name because he know maybe he can put in the front and go to fight for the belt. I give this opportunity for everybody in that division because I beat everybody. And everybody else think have this position. You see Joshua right now, he got the ticket, you know, the gold ticket for the Winnie Wonka Farrika. The guy, he found the ticket, you know, and now he's going to fight with Reval. If he passed for Reval, he's the next. He's the next, you know?
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yeah. That's so nice to have that, you know. That's my last fight, my fight before a Sakura is like Steve Versaig. Steve Versaig, another guy that... Top 10. Yeah. And fight forward to me. And then guys bring it a Sakura and I beat him too, you know?
Starting point is 00:19:27 That's super nice, man. I'm very proud myself, my team, everybody worked very hard to that position. You and I sat in the Apex one time. I don't know who you had just beat. Was it, did you beat Manil Cop already? It was that close fight, right? You had a close fight. You beat Manel Cobb, and you called for a title fight.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Brandon Moreno was sitting at the desk, and you won so many times before you ultimately finally got that title shot. But now you're just gifted championship fights. Is that because of what you went through to get there? Is that why? Because you had to wait so long, you had to beat so many people that you're like, hey, man, you went, okay, come on, I'll fight you. With the Moreno?
Starting point is 00:20:07 With everybody. Like, I mean, you waited for your title fight. Sure. You fought everybody. It was this guy. And then the... How many fights did he win before he got a title fight? Five.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Yeah, you could have got it after two, because you beat the best guys. Now guys are getting title fights after one. Did you... Do you understand... I don't really want to make these guys wait. If they want to fight, they can get a fight with the champ. That's nice, you know. I want to fight with the new guys, of course.
Starting point is 00:20:35 But what I think right now, doesn't matter it's going to be a rematch with the Moreno or Raval. the best fight need to go to the fight. Yes. Fight for the belt. The best guy need to fight for the belt. That's what I think. Kalkara Fins put in his deposition right now.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Everybody wants to see a new blood. Of course, I beat him before, but nobody remember of that a long time ago. But maybe I won Kikara France and maybe Ravar won the Joshua. This makes sense, fighter to Ravar again. Everybody agree with that. You know, Reval comes for two wins. Maybe he got a third victory right now. who gonna say, Royval, don't deserve that fight, you know?
Starting point is 00:21:16 So I'm gonna read you something from Kai Kar-France. You ready? Oh, yeah. He can't keep me down. I'm too fast and that you will get sloppy. And when you get sloppy, you'll open up opportunities for him to get the finish. He also says that he respects you. Not being disrespectful, but he's coming for your head.
Starting point is 00:21:39 And that you'll get sloppy. and that'll open up opportunities for him to finish you, something that no one's been able to do. What do you think when you hear that? Make me motivation, you know. Kakara Fins is a very good fire. But when I'm the, I never live in the comfort zone, you know. If he wants bringing me to that place, I bring him to the deeper waters, you know.
Starting point is 00:22:05 And I'm not sure he can breathe that, you know. If he thinks he can defend my grappler, he's wrong, man. I improved a lot. After nine years, I fight with him in the third mate fighter. I'm involved so much. I'm involved so much because now I'm the champion of the war, you know? And Saturday night, I'm fighting with another guy. My last fight, I fight with the Kai Sakura, and I have a Kaikar France.
Starting point is 00:22:31 But he's going to finish with the same thing. I'm going to win the fight. Maybe with a needle chok again. Oh, you think you'd take him down, huh? Oh, yeah, man. He's got the highest take down the fence in the division, but not many can stop you from getting them to the ground. And once you get them on the ground, get the back, I mean, you're dangerous.
Starting point is 00:22:49 I'm the right position. You know my corners. You know my gym. Yep. You know everything I need to pass through to get this position. And I have so much more to conquer, you know. And I read to that. I read to the high level guys.
Starting point is 00:23:04 And I'm super excited to that fight. I just want to say, guys, expect the best version from Pantosia with my new shorts. Oh, those are nice, champ. Those shorts are nice, champ. You design those? Yeah, it's my tattoo. Hey, those are nice. Nice color, too, nice black and red, little red and gold.
Starting point is 00:23:25 Ready to buy, guys. It sold out soon. They're going to sell all very soon. I'm going to get a pair for my son. He'll love those. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
Starting point is 00:23:37 I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
