Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

What's up, everybody, man?
It's your boy Big Play Slay here, man.
I know y'all been missing me, man.
It's been a few weeks,
but your boy been locked in and camp, man.
Preseason unstarted, man.
We went to the second game.
We just finished that one last night,
which is wild.
Ending up in the tie, which is crazy.
That's some second time doing that.
But, man, like, it's been a minute.
I know y'all missed me, man.
y'all man i'm ready to give y'all crazy updates on me what's going on in the camp world right now
man because i be working y'all can see it's hard for me to get on here because i'll be busy man i got
steady film i got to critique my game i got to do a lot of stuff to get ready for this season man
and so that's why i ain't been him but i have time today to tell y'all how i've been doing as y'all know
man your boy's going into his 11th camp it's been amazing so far man i can't lie man what's
been going on really I've been getting asked a lot it's the main question I've been asked a lot man
how talent is this team is just the same team as last year this is a new team last year team last year team
of course we did a great thing we looked at great on paper and we played just as great as we looked
on paper this team looks great so on paper but we haven't done nothing yet we never played a regular
season game we never played nothing yet but the team and the talent aspect we look amazing you know what
you got to put the work in and we got to see you know how we turn out you know so but
we're looking forward to all of this going on man because I'm telling you now like these guys
are very talented man them dogs New Georgia dogs don't them two boys are there them boys grown
man and I know y'all heard a report about Jalen Carter man breaking the sled I'm talking my
buddy is strong man you know I'm not going to compare him to I want to compare him to but
I've been around a lot of great detackers I've been around sue a lowly Nata Fletcher
Cots himself, you know, Javon Hardgrave.
You know, I've been allowing a great group of guys that played a detackle, man.
And I'm trying to tell you here.
Jalen Collarman, this kid is just very, very dominant, man.
He's very physical, quicker than what you think and stronger than how he looked.
You know what I'm saying?
He looked like a baby rhino.
You know what I'm saying?
You ever seen a baby rhino?
And then you just, man, he's crazy.
And I'm talking about he's pushing folks back, man.
You can ask Lane Johnson, man.
Lane Johnson said it is himself one of the best tackles in the game said this guy is ready to play right now and ready to take control of the game right now.
He's a game changer.
I know y'all saw his first play against the Baltimore Ravens.
He only had one play, I think, and do-doo.
Quick out the line, quarterback hurry, almost got a sack, third downstop.
That's what I need.
That's a DB dream.
You know what I'm saying?
I'm not trying to cover alone.
So if they're doing their job, good, my job will be good.
So I know we kind of help each other off and off,
but I want them to win way more than I have to win
because I get tired fast.
I got to chase a lot of people, you know what I'm saying?
So they go about two or three yards and have 600 pounds on them.
That's a really big problem, but 600 pounds are no problem to him.
I'm not lying.
I don't seem to get double team and practice,
and he's getting them both off of him like he's just strong,
cop diesel strong.
And it's crazy that this man fell to a Super Bowl team last year,
you know, that went to the Super Bowl last year.
That's crazy.
I know how he did an amazing job as in, you know, trading draft picks and all kind of stuff to offer us.
They had the 10th pick, but him falling to us, it's wild.
You know what I'm saying?
I clearly thought he was going off the board quick.
He arguably the second to first best defensive player in that draft easily, you know what I'm saying?
But, man, I'm glad he fell to us, you know what I'm saying?
Because I hate for somebody to go against that kid, man, because that kid is very special.
got a great chance to be amazing, man.
He got a great, great chance of being amazing.
I'm looking forward to it, man, because he is
a dog, and I'm not meeting him by the school.
He went to, I'm talking about just literally
a dog.
Him and, JD, Jordan Davis?
I don't even know how their moms get birth to them.
There's some big kids.
Like, they don't know what I'm saying?
A big, happy kids.
They're some big, big boys.
And with Fletcher them, leaving them away.
Him and Brandon Graham, B.G.
You know, sweaty.
Hoss.
Like, they got.
some great leaders up there man I'm talking about guys that go hunt and I'm talking about
hunting and they're not not lying hunting they more like hyenas and stuff like that that
that'll be a whole swarm of them they're not coming solo they come with a whole pack of um and
look here I can sit back and be in the back and get the left overs and I be the chihuahua or something
you know because I'm the big dogs I'm like a medium dog so compared to them boys but them boys
are dangerous up there so man it'll be a special thing man that's one thing I know about
howie since he's been here since I've been known
I'm about to him in the league.
He loves to have a dominant D-line, man, and a dominant O-line.
And if you can see right now, I know this is a new year, we go see how it turned out,
but we've got a great O-line and a great D-line.
And that's where he built his team off of, man.
And right now, it's looking great, man.
And I'm very, very happy with my corner group, man.
I don't know y'all see my boy Josh Joe, man.
He's been having a strong, strong camp, man.
Like, he's been doing great, man.
Undrafted, second-year guy, man, made the roster last year, competed last year,
Made the roster spot
was well great on special teams
Count in 10 this year very, very strong
onto my very strong having a very very great camp man
and I'm just amazed with him man
He had the growth of him
But I think I'm just a great leader man
Me and J.B. be doing our great job
At just leading these guys and man
And Job is turning out very well man
Like I look forward to him
One day taking my spot man
And being a dominant corner in his league man
So he keep doing his thing man
Y'all be on a lookout for Joe
man Eagles fans
Y'all be looking at for him
because he's doing his thing right about now, man,
having a solid, solid count.
These three rookies we just dropped it from Georgia this year
got to be the worst ones to do a talent show.
You know everybody have a rookie talent show, man.
We have it, man.
All three of them was terrible.
Well, I can't say Nolan did a great job.
Nolan Smelley came up there.
He sung with his heart out.
But Jalen Carter?
Terrible.
Great football player.
I'm talking about terrible.
Here come Jalen Carter.
Say your name.
Jaylen Collar, University of Georgia.
You know, he tells you your signing bonus
and all that kind of stuff.
I'm not going to talk about the million money,
but that's what he said.
The signing bonus.
Da, da, da, da, boom.
Um, what I'm supposed to sing.
Boo.
Boo.
So he booed him instantly.
Like, he came up there with no plan,
no nothing.
So we threw stuff at him, you know,
and Fletch didn't hold back from him.
I think Fletcher almost threw a chair up there
that I feel like, I'm like, goodness.
He need to be hit with everything.
Ringo?
Terrible. I'm talking about terrible. I think he went up there and sung two lines and just went a stage fight.
I was like, man, y'all be playing in front of millions and millions of fans and y'all can't sing up here in front of your teammates.
Now my boy, Noel and man, I'm talking about he got on stage, some of a nice church song and had the crowd and going into it.
That's the thing they don't understand.
For next rookies coming up, when you got to do your little rookie talent show, get a song that everybody you know knows it.
Like that's how you go get the crowd going
We'll get a good clap
Go get it all going
So I'm going to help y'all out man
Because when I did my rookie thing
I was ready
You know what I love to sing
I love R&B music
And of course I sung that usher
Superstar
Because I'll be your grubby baby
And I hit the spin moves and all
So my rookie thing was fun
You know what I'm saying
So y'all got to enjoy that man
You got to embrace that man
I think me did
When I did my rookie thing
People like
You know
Appreciate that man
I try to make them laugh
Try to make her have fun because camp is a long day.
It's a long, very, very long.
And I got a lot of respect out of that, man,
because I have guys that was really bad, like really bad.
I had Nick Domic and Sue.
I had Nick Fairley, Rachine Mathis, Glover Quinn.
You know, I had some real true dogs that was real vets
that did it back in 2013.
I'm talking about this is the old way.
Y'all getting it off easy.
I got it the old way.
And Jesus, I'm glad I didn't get booed,
but I think I'm a great performer
because I was doing spin moves
and all because I'm like the next usher slash Chris Brown anyway.
So I got a stand elevation.
Everybody love me, man.
I got a lot of respect from it, man.
And guys really kind of like trusting me on the field with more that I did that.
So that's the next thing for y'all rookies, man.
I just get y'all pointers, man.
Pick a song that everybody know, then everybody can rock with and your boys go rock with you.
I'm glad they talented on the field because they was terrible for the rookie.
Like, mm-mm, they got to do better, man.
They set a bad examples.
the next rookie class got to come in.
So I'll expect high expectations for the next rookie class.
We ain't going for it this year, but this year,
number of us is bad, very, very bad.
Now, as we getting into these rookies, man,
I've been watching the rookies play, man.
This is two preseason now.
And, you know, and a lot of people say preseason don't matter.
Preseason do matter.
As long as that scoreboard going,
long as that thing, you know,
or win or loser, it matters.
You know what I'm saying?
This is a lot of things go on in preseason, man.
You find your identity as a team.
You know, you find out your great players.
You find out the guys that can really play, you know what I'm saying?
So it's a lot goes on.
I've not seen a lot of guys make teams from preseason, you know what I'm saying?
And right now these guys are right now flying around.
All our younger rookies, man, they're doing a great job flying around, tackling, man.
And people got to get ready for this type of moments, man.
It's big, it's big, man.
It's an important job.
It's an interview.
It's your resume.
And, you know, I know when I did my preseason, I was going out there to compete at a high level
because like I said, I got a name on the back of my jersey that my son go watch so I can't
get up no touchdowns or he'll be clowning me when I get home, you know, so I take it personally,
man, so I don't know how people say preseason not what it is.
I understand.
I ain't playing a preseason game in a long, long time.
But when I was playing in the preseason games, I attacked the field, gots to, you know what I'm saying?
Because once you go out there not attacking, football players know this.
Once you go on your mind like, you don't feel like playing, you play like shit quick.
So guys can't trick their stuff like that.
You know, football players got a little mind of their own.
Like, if they ain't playing, they're cool not to play.
But they feel like they got to play.
And then they're in their mind saying, I'm not playing, really.
Like, it's a preseason.
I don't care.
Oh, now, they put bad phim out there and they get ugly.
And, you know, so that's any NFL guy about preseason, man, when they play.
They said, first thing, they're going to tell you, do not go out there with a mindset as it's thinking.
It's just preseason because, hey, it could get real ugly.
The guys out there competing for a job, man.
And you could get very much embarrassed out there.
So you may stand your toes, man.
But these rookies doing a great job.
Maybe it was in their ear telling them.
And you got to compete.
You got to play hard.
And they can just got no.
Because this is what you know.
This is what you find your team.
Like I said, their identity.
And people find out what their job going to be.
That's what part about being a great team.
People got their job, their responsibility.
Check your boss.
As my boy, Hurt's say, check your boss.
Don't check nobody else's box.
And the coach's job is to do is find a box for you.
so you can always check it, and this is the time for it.

And man, these counts, maybe we just got done when our first joint practice, man, against the Browns, man.
I must say, man, it was fun.
We competed at a high level.
Guys got better for sure, man.
You know, our coach came in on the first day.
You know, we have two days joint practice.
So he took the first day as the first half and the second day as the second half.
So coach went into the game.
we, uh, when they had our little meetings and stuff like that, came in there with a team meeting,
coach said, hey, overall pitcher, you know, their defense got great and made a lot of stops,
you know, over there on their side.
And, um, and we had, you know, had a decent day with Deshaun on the first day, man.
He had a great day of competing classes.
And, you know, we made some plays.
He made plays because, man, he made a hell of a throws, man.
He made definitely one.
He made one of the best back shoulder throws I saw to a tight end on the scene ball was crazy,
crazy coverage.
So, you know, and coach kind of tallied it out as in like, hey, these guys right now,
if we was playing the game, he felt like as in they was up 10-3, you know, going to halftime,
which is understanding, you know, because it was one not best day of performing.
And, you know, they're a little better.
They had a little better day than us.
Then the second day came, man.
We went out there with our leaders and stuff.
We're like, hey, man, we got to set the tone.
We got to go out here and dominate these guys, man.
That's what the whole bottle about.
It's about dominate the guy, dominate the other team.
and go out and compete, though, respectfully.
So we went out there and competed the second day, man,
and when I say we had an amazing day, you know,
at the end of the practice, you know,
everybody kind of come together, one field,
and we do, like, team drills, you know.
I want to go against Day 1D, and both sides are just watching, you know,
so it was lit, you know, so, of course we went down there
and scored them boys did a great job.
Jalen threw an amazing touchdown at AJ,
so we was up.
We had like a little situational football.
I think it was like two minutes.
Two minute offense, they have 40 seconds, one timeout to go score,
they're down by eight, got to get two.
And our offense won both periods, you know, so that gave us the boost.
And our defense, we won both periods.
So that's what made us feel like we came and dominated a great game.
And the second day, dominated the second day because, you know, we both won on both sides of ball,
both periods.
So it was a great overall battle going against Coop, one of the best receivers in the league.
You know, D4, for sure, one of the best quarterbacks in league, man.
So we got some great, great work on both sides of the ball.
And I'm trying to tell y'all right now, Miles Garrett is amazing to watch on the sideline.
Yeah, man, we got to take the PCs in the series, man.
Right now we got a loss and a tie, man.
You know, coach coming to the locker room, he explained what's going on.
And of course, we know our starters are not playing.
We do know that.
But the next man got to be up.
You never know who goes go down, man.
Tragically lost.
Man, we don't lost guys this past week, man, with Achilles, two guys.
You know what I'm saying?
guys, that's very important to our special teams, man.
We all are going to keep praying for him.
Zach McPherson, he was one of my guys, you know, a DB in the room.
You know, Sean Bradley was one of our captains on the defense,
so as a special teams guy.
So I'm two important guys that you know that's, you know, gone for this year.
So it got to be a next man mentality, and this is where you find your next man at,
you know, because you don't know what's going on, man.
Nobody don't know when their next play go be, when it's going to end.
You never know.
So right now it's just, it's just,
It's just a go time, man.
And that's why our coach take it very seriously, man,
because you never know, man.
We missed Jalen for three games and almost lost the number one seed, man.
The biweek.
And, you know, the biweek is very, very important in the playoffs.
And, you know, so guys got to be ready, man.
This is what we determine.
And this how you build characters because you only as strong as your last link.
And if our last link is just as strong as us,
if it seemed like there's no downfall, no drop,
that's how you become an amazing team.
Because, you know, you see how San Francisco,
There was a great team as well, you know, got purty in the game, boom, you know what I'm saying?
Now he's a star quarterback, you know, so it happens.
And the talent been there this whole time.
So, you know what I'm saying?
So that's just how the gang worked, man.
And that's why people need to take preseason serious.
I know fans probably don't, but players do.
You know what I'm saying?
Players do.
We take it serious.
So, man, I'm trying to tell you anything can happen, man.
So everybody would be just on the lookout for these surprises.
and names that are probably pop up in the media and all kind of crazy stuff so we on the lookout man it'll be
dogs that be coming out of nowhere man but in the house players know they're dolls but they finally get
their chance to sign because the guy in front of them you know god forbid get hurt or anything now's
it time to shine and then they shine and they outshined it and they become the man somewhere so
it happens i don't seen it happen numerous of times so guys man take it serious take it serious
And I can tell you who else love the preseason
The Philadelphia Eagles fans
I'm telling you that now
I'm talking about we had probably like
30,000 to 40,000
At this preseason game that just passed
First home game
But when we had that open practice
It was just an open practice
We had 50,000 people
I'm talking about
That's like almost that's crazy
For just a practice
And the practice only but like an hour and 30
So they, I'm just talking about, I'm talking about stadium full.
I'm in me coming out of the tunnel.
They gave me a little nice little shoutout.
I'm like, okay, man, I didn't know,
I didn't even check and see how me fans was really out there.
And came outside, man, that thing sounded like we was in a real game.
I almost started doing my little celebration and all kind of stuff
before I come out in the game.
I almost got into a whole game routine because this is wild.
And I had to be locked in because this felt like a real game.
Because if I would have got malls or something,
I probably would have got booed and all kinds of stuff by AJ and all.
that kind of stuff. I couldn't have that going. So I was really locked in and practiced.
Like, I'm always locked in. Don't get me wrong, y'all. I'm always locked in. But when you just get
that game atmosphere, it was just like a whole other level go up. You know what I'm saying? A whole
another notch. It's just the vibe, the thrill, the feeling, you know, like plays I used to get
tired in practice too, I do not get tired of the game because my adrenaline going all kind of crazy.
But yes, man, I'm talking my 50,000 fans. And I stayed out there too and signed me a good
all the grass it was a lot of y'all i couldn't sign out everybody but man i had show my love to y'all
man because we appreciate y'all to the fullest man because i never seen that happen before i played
in a stadium on a game day that didn't have 50,000 people in there so shout out to y'all man
i appreciate y'all man y'all keep supporting us man we love y'all like i've been saying man i've
been going into my 11th camp and i'm telling you right now i feel amazing you know what i'm
saying i coach do a great job and our strength coaches they do amazing job but taking care of
as players man he made sure our body's good man he don't run us to the ground he don't do
none of that kind of crazy stuff a lot of organizations be doing but fill it off eagles they take
care of players they know players help win games and you know all kind of stuff man they put the
players first and then we appreciate them kindly for that because that's it's hard to find
an organization that just treat you that way but with this system here i can easily play 50,000 years
feel like i ain't i'm not lying i still feel like i'm 23 years old that's what great things
about being a veteran team, man.
A veteran team know how to take care of each other, man.
That's what we've been doing, man, and the staff been doing as well.
So that's why I feel so amazing in year 11.
You know, people be like, Slate, man, you still moving good like you, year two, year three.
That's got a lot to do with the coaching staffs, man, and the training staff with
a lot of stretching, a lot of massages.
I don't have to, you know what I'm saying?
Usually you got to call people, set stuff up with massages.
The Eagles got all that stuff in-household for free.
Like, it's free for us.
Mr. Lorry playing all that big money, you know what I'm saying?
He's big, big, big money, you know what I'm saying?
So shout out to Mr. Lorry, man, taking care of us.
But we got massage therapists, stretch people.
We got everything in there, man.
So it's hard not to feel amazing on game days.
So that's why I think I'm in year 11, man.
I've been around great leadership.
And, man, Ted once was in Detroit with me as well.
So I've been dealing with Ted for a long time.
And that's our strength coach, man.
Shout out to him, man.
He'd be doing an amazing job keeping me healthy.
and getting ready for this season and in this training camp, man.
So my training camp been smooth, been competing, man.
I'm trying to tell y'all.
AJ and Smitty, them boys are so nice, man.
They get me so much better each and every day.
Me and J.B., we all compete against them boys on a high, high level,
and it's very intense, man, with him and Jalen,
and all them great connections they got going on, man.
So I'm having a blast.
You know what I'm saying?
I know y'all be seeing me, man.
I can act a ass.
I like to have fun.
I enjoy my job. That's what it really is, man. I really enjoy my job and I really have fun.
I love to go to work. A lot of people don't like to get up and going to work. I love waking up at
6.30 in the morning, getting in the hot tub, steam room, and getting ready for practice. Like, I love
the feeling of that, man. So that's why I think I'm, you know, where I'm at today in the career mode
and in year 11, playing at a high level still because I really enjoy this game. Final thoughts today.
it's got to be said guys it's just got to be said top 100 i love you i really do man but
i only really truly think top 20 be the only thing y'all have respectful like the top 20 i think
that's the only ones y'all have like respectful because after 20 everybody else i just think y'all
just be putting who name y'all want to put in there because it's no way javon hardgrave don't
make top 100s no way a all pro dbjave james brayette's no way a all pro db james bray
Bradbury don't make top 100.
We ain't no way sweaty don't make top 100.
10 plus sacks.
Hard grade 10 plus sacks.
I know people have got big time names that still be still performing at a high level,
but these guys be playing amazing.
Definitely them three guys I just named.
I don't know how they're not top 100.
But a lot of the Eagles should have made it last year, for sure, a lot more.
I'm just, I ain't buyers or none, but you just go check the stats.
We had, I think, what, 70 plus?
to tax.
So that's a lot.
And we had four people.
Four, we could have had BG on there.
God, he had 10.
Could have BG.
These guys got 10 plus sacks.
And you're trying to tell me they're not a top 100 player in the league.
It's some guys that don't got 10 sacks and it was making top 100.
Come on.
I know.
I'm going to try to make sure I'm on it next year as well because I need to play at a high level again.
I think I came up short to at 67.
I think I should have been a little bit more higher at 67.
I should, I'd be cool with 50.
something you know what I'm saying I'm respectful I'm gonna be like I'm around about the 50s
you know what I'm saying so but six no I need to be in the 50s you know so but uh
y'all go have to fix that and I'm here to help hey man that's all I got for y'all today man

the coach man so y'all be on a lookout and looking forward to it man I'm here to share

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
