Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:06 For 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
Starting point is 00:01:22 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:01:41 You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes,
Starting point is 00:02:06 follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Welcome, everybody, to our Saturday morning podcast. Well, last week, fire. Call in the emergency fire department to cool down the herd. Four and one on my blazing five picks. 19, 20, and 1 on the season. I've also hit my last four bonus picks, which we
Starting point is 00:02:34 always give at the end of this podcast. So we're four for our last four bonus picks. Things going well. We get to RJ Bella pregame.com. Fox Sports Radio in a couple of minutes. But first, let's go, listen to my blazing five, and then we'll figure out what the sharps think. That's a hot one. Let's blaze it up. It's Collins blazing five.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Seahawks and Bills. I'm going to take Seattle minus three. at Buffalo. Don't worry about the East Coast. Seattle's on a 10-game winning streak in the Eastern Time Zone. That's the best place they play. I can't figure it out, but it is. Here's what we're talking about. Russell Wilson, best player on the planet against Josh Allen. Josh Allen has not played well for a couple of weeks. Four touchdown passes, five turnovers in the last four games for Josh Allen. If you look at his quarterback rating in the last four games, it's been 79. Josh is not playing particularly well right now, and their defense is not good enough to beat good
Starting point is 00:03:28 teams. They've beaten one good team all year. The Raiders. Rams doesn't count. They got an officiating break in one of the last calls of the game. They're the third team in NFL history to be six and two and have negative point differential. A little bit of fools gold here. They're getting worse. I like Seattle to win in cover 33.26. Ravens at Colts. Baltimore minus two and a half. I'm going to take the Ravens. They have a huge advantage of quarterback. When you have Lamar Jackson, you can roll the pot. quarterback draws, throw it downfield. Come on, last couple of years, Lamar's been very good in the road.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Let's not freak out. They had 460 total yards against the Steelers. He made mistakes. He has regressed, but you can do things with Lamar Jackson. You can't do with Philip Rivers, and that's the NFL in 2020. And I got questions about the Colts. I think they have a low ceiling. They're five wins are against the Vikings, Jets, Bears, Bengals, and Lions.
Starting point is 00:04:23 They're a little hot and cold to me. I don't trust them. Their defense feels like it is very reliant on Darius Leonard. I like the Ravens to win by a touchdown in cover, 2720. Giants at Washington. I like Washington minus three here. They're off a buy, and the Giants, Monday night football on a short week. You know I always love that. So they got five extra practices, four extra practices with a veteran head coach Ron Rivera.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Also, the Giants off an emotional last play of the game loss. Do they take a step back, Washington with a buy? Also, Washington's defense. is fantastic. We knew it would be. Chase Young, Ron Rivera. By the way, Daniel Jones, 36 turnovers, last two years most in the NFL. I think it comes down to this. It's an ugly, choppy game.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Kyle Allen won't turn it over. And I believe Daniel Jones will. I think off a by, I'll take Washington to win in cover. It's ugly 2417. Dolphins at Cardinals. Like Arizona, I love Arizona. off a by, Miami, 3,000 mile flight cross country. So, Tua last week, he was at home, two weeks to prepare, he was very comfortable.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Now he's going to be in a shootout because Arizona off a buy is going to put a lot of points up. Their offense this year is first in total yards, rushing yards, second in rushing touchdowns. The Dolphins had 145 total yards last week. I think this comes down to Arizona, rested, healthier. Tua's going to be forced to play at a much higher rate. They're going to have him throwing 30, 35 times. I don't think he's ready for it. I'm going to take Kyler and Arizona to win in cover 3022.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Saints and Buccaneers. Really like Tom Brady and the Bucks here, minus five and a half. Why were the Buccaneers so flat on Monday Night Football? Because they were looking ahead to this thing. So I always say, don't look at a team last week and say, oh, that's what they are. They were looking ahead. Brady, Breeze, the difference is one of them is really good right now. The Bucks have the best point differential in the NFL and the best turnover differential
Starting point is 00:06:39 since losing to the Saints in week one. Take the first game out. Their defense in Tampa's number one in the NFL. They also have the ability with AB to throw over the top, in the slot, up the sidelines. Right now, Tampa is a offense with no. limitations. Drew Brees, missed practice yesterday. He is banged up. Do not watch game one at all. Tampa since then, turnover differential, number one in the NFL. Point differential, number one in the NFL. It's not the same team. Tampa wins covers 3021, and I'm not even
Starting point is 00:07:16 sure it'll feel that close. For more of my Blazing Five picks, check out the Fox Bet social platforms. I don't think I've ever taken five favorites. RJ Bell, pregame.com, straight out of Vegas on Fox Sports Radio every day at 6 to 7 Eastern. You should listen. His Twitter account, as always, at RJ in Vegas. Again, our blazing five went four in one. We've hit four straight bonus picks, so we feel really good about it. All right, RJ, couple of back-to-back winning weeks. I love small favorites this weekend. So I'm going to take the Seahawks minus three at Buffalo. Josh Allen's last two games, five turnovers. The bills are the third team in history to start six and two, despite having a negative point
Starting point is 00:08:05 differential through eight games. And if you start looking at their wins, there's a lot of Patriots, the Jets two times, and I think Seattle is a better team. I think the number one seed matters to them. And I'm going to take the Seahawks to cover minus three. What are the wise guys? thing. I agree with most of what you said. Disagree though with the pick. And here's why. Look at this line. The line is three at Buffalo. So if this game were neutral, let's call it five. And if this game were in Seattle, would be seven. So this is always a good exercise, Colin. If you had Seattle minus seven at home, would you be as anxious to play it? Boy, I'm really down on Buffalo. today. I've really sold a lot of stock. I think their defense has gone into the tank. So I would be
Starting point is 00:08:57 comfortable, but I get your point. Yeah. And I also think you got to wonder about Seattle's potential flat spot, right? So they got beat by Arizona two weeks ago. Then they went and played exceptionally well against San Francisco. And then this Buffalo game, and they get their Rams next week. So of the last four game or this game, the game after and the two games before, this is by far the least
Starting point is 00:09:28 motivation. Now you could make the case too. The Buffalo's off a big win. Maybe they're going to be flat. In general, I don't love Buffalo here, but I think because that line is so high, and you think about it, sometimes you have some pretty
Starting point is 00:09:44 bad teams plus three at home. The idea of the bills, I think you're right, Colin, they're a little overrated in the public, but I think the marketplace has it accounted for here, so I'm going to go disagreement on your Seattle pick. I'm going to take the Ravens, and the number, where is the number at here on a Saturday morning? What's the number at with the Ravens? Ravens are down to minus two, two-point favorites. Okay, I'm going to take the Ravens here.
Starting point is 00:10:08 First of all, the Colts played great last week. Let's not buy into a team that literally can't move the pocket. They have the least un-athletic quarterback in the league. Again, their winds have come against the lions, the bingles, the bears, the jets, and the Vikings. And the Ravens got a lot of heat because of the turnovers, but they had 460 yards against the Steelers. So I like the athleticism of Baltimore offensively. I think they bounce back. I think Baltimore is a much better team here.
Starting point is 00:10:38 I'm going to swallow the points and take the Ravens. Okay, now this is one I agree with you, agreement, but we're going to be in the minority. The sharp side here And again, that's the thing As gambling's grown and grown, there's the syndicates, there's the $5,000 There's all kind of different sharps And to me, the early ones at least,
Starting point is 00:11:00 the ones about $5,000 a game, good money, but the syndicates sometimes bet $200,000 But they do like, and again, these are the $5,000 type batters. They do like Indianapolis. Here's what I think they might be getting wrong. So Baltimore, obviously needs to run the ball.
Starting point is 00:11:19 So, oh, look, Indianapolis, they only give up 3.4 yards per rush. That's second in the league. Oh, okay, strength on defense against Baltimore, and we know Lamar can't throw. I disagree. I think when you look at the Ravens, you don't just look at the rushing D. In fact, I'm not even sure you do. You look at how is that team built to play a mobile quarterback, which is different. Look at Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:11:43 Kansas City has a really poor rush analytics on their defensive side, and they do exceptionally well against the Ravens. There's something about that matchup that they can take care of Lamar. So I look at Buffalo, and I think they're a little bit slow. I mean, they're kind of a lumbering northern defense. I think Lamar has an advantage. A lot of other people think he doesn't. This does, though, finally fall into a bad spot for the defense. The Ravens, which is we did a study and looked at all of the games Lamar's played in his career
Starting point is 00:12:20 where he wasn't more than a four-point favorite. So we're saying very competitive games. In those games, Lamar has been literally 10 percentage points in passerating down from the other games. And it shows you it's not just the eye test. He is doing poorly, relatively in these competitive games. All that said, I think. this line is generous, and I agree with the Ravens. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:12:52 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hart Radio.
Starting point is 00:13:13 app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown and explore the journey of healing, self-discovery, and returning to yourself. We explore higher consciousness, emotional well-being, and the practice that help you find clarity, peace, and self-mastery in a world that can feel overwhelming. The world is becoming lonelier.
Starting point is 00:13:51 We're not becoming more social and connected. We're becoming more individualized, but we actually meet people in connection. If you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole, this podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Debbie Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:14:47 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying.
Starting point is 00:15:04 He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball, like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out. real quick. Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my GenX squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic. B.S. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be, getting naked at 50 with a new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears laughter and dive into it unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Giants Washington, I'm going to take Washington minus three. Now, I always, the first thing I look at, Washington, well coached off a by, Giants on a short week, very emotionally tough loss on the last play to the Buccaneers. That's a big edge for Washington. Their defense with Ron Rivera, this isn't surprising anybody, is very good. Quarterbacks' average passer rating is 85. Daniel Jones, 36 turnovers last two years, most in the league. I think he makes mistakes. The Giants are a tad flat. I'll take Washington minus three here. What are the wise guys think?
Starting point is 00:17:05 Yeah, so this one actually is down to two and a half. So you also have a potential even a better number there. I agree. Agree with Washington. And you mentioned it, right? Daniel Jones, a lot of turnovers. Well, what is Washington strength on defense?
Starting point is 00:17:23 Defense of line? You could really see. And the thing about interceptions are, it's usually pressure that leads to the interceptions. And obviously there's the strip sack potential when Daniel Jones gives up a lot of fumble. So I think turnovers could be
Starting point is 00:17:39 a bigger problem than usual. And then you look at Kyle Allen for Washington. He has gotten his feet beneath him, gotten a little, you know, he's playing better, right? More comfortable than he was. I don't love him. But, you know, the reality is they probably have the quarterback edge, Washington does.
Starting point is 00:17:58 And then finally, and this is probably to me the key of the game, Washington can win this division. I mean, right now. Oh, they think they, that's why they were out on Dwayne Haskins. They think just with competent quarterback play, they can win it. And right now the odds are less than three to one for them to win the NFCE. So it's not some pie in the sky shot. So I think the Giants have no aspirations to win the division.
Starting point is 00:18:24 I mean, they could in theory, but I don't think they're thinking like that. Washington is, I think that's a big motivational edge agreement, Washington. My favorite bet of the week, I'm going to take Arizona minus four and a half hosting Miami. So here's why. So Tua last week had two weeks to prepare. Now just one. Tua last week got a special teams and a defensive touchdown. That's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Arizona is an explosive offense forcing Tua to have to ramp it up. They're going to have to make him throw 30 times a game. The Cardinals are coming off a buy. The dolphins are coming off a big emotional win. I like Arizona to win comfortably here. Miami is still a young team rebuilding their offensive line. I'll take Arizona. What are the wise guys think? Agreement for sure here. I like this one.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Now, let's think about what Tua did last week. We all heard a hundred yards, you know, less than 100 yards and all that. But let's think about the game itself is Miami scored two return touchdowns. Now, those are noticeable, but then they had a third touchdown that was a one-yard drive. So there was a fumble, whatever it was, went back to the one and they pushed it in. And their fourth touchdown of four was less. than 40 yards. It was like 38 yards.
Starting point is 00:19:42 So literally they scored four touchdowns and drove the ball less than 40 yards in those four possessions. So it not only helped them win the game, it kind of muted the Tua concern. Now let's talk about the reports that Miami kind of prematurely, some would say put Tua in after the buy.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Why? Because with that Houston pick, the theory is there's a chance they're going to have an opportunity to take a field or who knows, maybe even a Trevor Lawrence. And they want to see what they got. Yeah. So in a weird way, they're almost saying, Colin, Miami, we're willing to sacrifice maybe some edges in these games. Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:24 Yes. Good point. Yes. We may throw him. We may put him out to the wolves a little bit to see if he can handle it. Yeah. And to or what they may be doing. And I think we win either way.
Starting point is 00:20:35 We look good either way. Last point is they might be extra. Because the last thing they want is him. Because chances are he'll be their quarterback in years to come. They don't want him to get, you know, a bunch of negative publicity. And they might end up losing the game because they're being too conservative. I think there's a lot of factors not about winning. I like your pick on Arizona.
Starting point is 00:20:54 RJ Bell, pregame.com. All right. So I said I like favorites this week. Why were the Buccaneers so flat against the Giants looking ahead? This Buccaneer team, when challenged this show, year. The Green Bay game, for instance. They've played really well. The Raiders going on the road played really well. I think they see themselves as a really, really elite football team, and they should. They have the number one rush defense, the best point differential,
Starting point is 00:21:25 and the Saints, four of their five wins by six or fewer. They don't have much of a dynamic upside. And I think Tampa's going to have a little revenge. They want to make a point. They want potentially a number one seed. I'm going to take Tampa minus five and a half here. What are the wise guys think? Disagreement on this one. Now, there's going to be some sharps on each side of this one. Let me ask you a question.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Doesn't that week one concern you not? I get the whole idea that Tampa can play better because they came together as a team. Brady got some reps with these. But in general, doesn't it say schematically the Saints have an advantage in the matchup? I take nothing from it. Really? Yeah, because I don't even. think Brady had his protections down on the offensive line. I mean, to be honest with you,
Starting point is 00:22:13 no preseason. Gronk came in late. Fournette came in late. Chris Godwin was hurt. I don't think their offensive line was very good in the first two weeks. I almost look at Tampa is a two week story. The last two weeks, I'm like, okay, this team now there's no excuses. I think their defense has gotten better. Their secondary has gotten better in the last two weeks. Yeah, I agree with that. To me, If I could take any team and you say, you win 100,000 if your team wins the Super Bowl, odds don't matter, I would take Tampa Bay right now. That said, I don't like him in this game.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Real quick, I'd be interested. Who would be your one team? Best chance to win. I think Kansas City and Seattle, if healthy at the running back spot are my favorite teams. Tampa, I don't think they're going to get the number one seed, so they'll have to go to Seattle in a driving rainstorm, negating Antonio Brown up top. Seattle will pound it.
Starting point is 00:23:07 So I take Seattle, Kansas City. Third best team, though, Tampa. If listeners are wondering why Collins is at the pinnacle of the industry, he somehow knew there was going to be a rainstorm in Seattle in January. I mean, you were like calling it like a play-by-play guy. Hey, one last thing in this game, this is one of my favorite arbitrage-type hedge bets you can make on this game. Check this out. I'm betting over Antonio Brown.
Starting point is 00:23:33 receptions, three and a half is the estimate, it's going to come out later today, and under, under yardage for Brown. You might say, why one over, one under? Because I believe strongly that they don't want Antonio Brown, if somehow some way he's not getting a lot of receptions early, they don't want that to be the conversation topic come Monday. I think there's two or so dump off type passes, get A, B, in the mix. and thus to go over three and a half isn't going to be hard, but I don't think he'll get as many yards. So this is one of those that seems like they go against each other and they do.
Starting point is 00:24:13 Chances are we're going to split it, but we have a much better chance, I think, of receptions over, yardage under, than vice versa. That's actually what hedge funds do is make two different bets in two different directions. It's a fun one. I've already made it. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Starting point is 00:26:59 Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. Starting point is 00:27:29 was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How high can it be? How can it be? Getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Okay, my bonus pick, four out of four. This line confuse me, and when I'm confused, it usually ends up being a bonus pick.
Starting point is 00:28:16 So Denver, plus four and a half, I don't get the line. They've lost the Titan, Steelers, Bucks, and Chiefs. All teams lead their division. The Falcons are atrocious. They're bad at home. They're two and nine in their last. you know, 11 home games. They're bad period. Their defense is last or 31st in almost every category. And Denver is getting four and a half. I don't get the line. I think Denver's going to win outright.
Starting point is 00:28:42 I don't understand why they're not favored. Explain it to me. I like Denver here. Okay. So this is a matter of power rankings. And any spread is effectively. And Atlanta is a team. If you look at some very like 538, you look at football outsiders.
Starting point is 00:28:58 and take an average. You know, there's more than a few of those really respected power ratings that Atlanta's like 16th, 17th. They probably have the least amount of wins versus what they should have of any team in the NFL. And with the change of coach,
Starting point is 00:29:17 I mean, I'm calling, think about it. They're one horrible call, meaning why run the ball there? They kick a 27-yard field goal. Atlanta's 3-0 under Morris. right so to me I think the trend line looks good Atlanta was a big favorite of the betters the professionals earlier in the year and finally you look at Denver
Starting point is 00:29:38 they were down what 21 late in that game so it's one of those examples where Atlanta has lost games they should have won and Denver's won games they should have lost that perception I think is what the public is looking at Atlanta is that and certainly the sharper side here. God. I'm just amazed by that. That's a good breakdown because I looked at this line. I told Goulet, I'm like, I don't even understand it. I mean, I think Atlanta, I think,
Starting point is 00:30:12 I watched Denver last week. Here's what I wonder about. When Denver late in the game, when Drew Locke had, could step into his throws, he was very effective. First three quarters, he could not. He didn't have a clean pocket for three quarters. He didn't have a clean pocket for three orders. Atlanta's pass rush is meh. So I kind of feel like if Drew Locke is pressured, he's young and making mistakes. If he's not, it's a very good day for them. So I just, when I watch Denver, it's like the minute the Chargers put an extra DB in the game and played a little pre-event, Drew Locke was sensational because he's got a very, very good arm. It's just he didn't have much of a clean pocket. So I am really down in Atlanta here. But the one last quick point I'd make is,
Starting point is 00:30:56 I believe the fact Atlanta didn't sell at the trading deadline is something that's probably enthusing the team. Because Atlanta had a lot. They're going to have big, they probably made a mistake. They're going to have big cap issues next year. But they kept the team together. I think they're going to be happy about it. No, I see, that's interesting. That's why you do what you do.
