Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise,
Starting point is 00:00:16 breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. Starting point is 00:00:39 Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's good, y'all? Starting point is 00:01:41 this is clivert taylor the fourth and on my podcast the clivert show i'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff like being an internet famous referee we're in the middle of a game this linebacker this linebacker walks up to me he goes a ref my mom wants you to wave at her what Time out. Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, Rhett, my mama want you to weigh better. What? Hey, Miss Parker.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Thanks for listening to The Heard Podcast. Starting point is 00:02:34 You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Best show of the week. Here we go. It's Tuesday. Live in Los Angeles, this is The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, we're on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, on FS1.
Starting point is 00:02:54 Our herd hierarchy in one hour, top 10 NFL teams, I will have a shocking team. I am acknowledging how wrong I was. I am going all in on a team. It's crazy town, and I can't wait for it. Joey Taylor is joining me, Joy Howard. You got Kansas City Chiefs colors on this morning.
Starting point is 00:03:13 I do. That was a nice Chiefs win, hard-fought indivision win. Is that what you saw? Well, look, you know, you got to win the games you play. Yeah. You saw you've been really impressed with that. Well, I would have been very unimpressed if they didn't beat the Chargers, that Chargers scene. Can I start with this?
Starting point is 00:03:31 And I am joking around with Joy. All you New England haters, okay. What's wrong with the Patriots? What's wrong with the Patriots? I don't know. They're nine and one in favor by a touchdown over Dallas Sunday. And if they win, you can just put in a buy one home game for the playoffs and they're in the AFC championship. What's wrong with the Patriots?
Starting point is 00:03:53 What's wrong with the Chiefs? What do they do well? Patrick Mahomes is talented. I get it. Andy Reid's a great play designer. I get it. That's kind of one and the same, right? I mean, Patrick Mahomes led him in rushing last night.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Knee cap injury, Patrick Mahomes, that's what you want? Every couple years, we find a new team that we're absolutely sure is going to unseat the Patriots. There was the LT Chargers, Big Ben, Lavian Bell, A, B, Steelers, Andrew Luck Colts. The Jags had a couple of cracks at New England, the Houston Texans in their Letterman jackets. And now it's Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. And no, no, these teams are not. not unseating the New England Patriots. That game shouldn't have been 2417.
Starting point is 00:04:39 You are pusperse me on turnovers. Philip Rivers, old, unathletic, inaccurate, Philip Rivers, four picks, and 18 seconds to go, the Chargers have a chance in the red zone to tie the game. That game shouldn't even been close. Should not have even been close. Again, you keep telling me you've got these teams over the last 15 years that are going to unseat the Patriots and what's wrong with the Patriots. Patriots just went on the road and won, and they're a touchdown favorite over Dallas,
Starting point is 00:05:10 meaning they're probably going to win. It's Foxborough. It's getting cold and windy. And we're going to wake up and they're going to be 10 and 1 and virtually assured of a buy a home field playoff game against an inferior team. Win it. You're in the AFC championship. My question is, what's wrong with Kansas City?
Starting point is 00:05:29 They are the latest flashy, fun, crazy. and you wake up and you're like, this is what they are, this much better than the Raiders. That's what they are. They're just a little better than the Raiders. And you know what? The identity of the Chiefs is two Patrick Mahomes. They remind me of those Peyton Manning Colt teams, which left a lot of Super Bowl championships on the table. They remind me of the Aaron Rogers teams, 2011 to 2018.
Starting point is 00:05:58 If Aaron wasn't great, they didn't win. And I criticized Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick. because I'm always like, could you guys put your arms around Brady and Russell Wilson? Could you just put your arms, give them a big hug? But I'll say this about Seattle and New England. Their sole identity is never Russell Wilson or Tom Brady. Seattle can always beat you different ways. They can run the football, take it away.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Russell, defense. We watched San Francisco. Defense was a huge component, Janavian Clowny. And we watched New England the other night, special teams, Edelman, a trick play. Secondary is great against Carson wins. Kansas City. This is just, this is L.T.
Starting point is 00:06:35 and the Chargers, Big Ben with great weapons, Andrew Luck in the Colts, Houston in the Letterman jacket. You know, that's what this is. It feels like, okay, now you're going to tell me it's Baltimore. Now, they are interesting, but I start looking around at Kansas City last night
Starting point is 00:06:51 and I'm sorry. This is the team that's going to knock off. You tell me what they do well. They design plays brilliantly and Patrick Mahoney's great. Okay. I saw that with Peyton Manning and Indy. I saw it with Aaron Rogers and Green Bay. You're going to leave a lot of Super Bowls on the table, and you're not going to get to a lot
Starting point is 00:07:07 of them doing that. Let's shift to a very urgent topic. Not just because I live in Los Angeles, but this league right now has so many dynamic fun, great quarterbacks. It is so much fun. Philip Rivers has become James Winston. I cannot sit here and criticize James Winston
Starting point is 00:07:23 as a turnover machine and then say, I love Philip Rivers. I mean, James Winston, Tampa, move on. I mean, six years in, five years in, he's a turnover machine. Philip Rivers has become James Winston. You look down at the stature like, oh my God, 440 yards, 6 and a half yards a pass, 28 to 52, 23 first outs. Boy, he fills up a box score. Oh, wait, what's that four? Or four interceptions. I mean, that's James Winston. Every time I watch James Winston, I'm like, oh my guy, threw for 350 yards. You got 25 first down. You got
Starting point is 00:07:56 four interceptions. It's time for the chargers to move off Philip Rivers. I like Philip Rivers. He doesn't want to move his family from San Diego to L.A. And next year at this time, the Chargers are playing in L.A. They can't sell any tickets. They have no juice in the market. They've got to get a star at quarterback. And my gut feeling is it's Cam, and I think that's their deep second choice. But he is a discount right now, what he's making money. In the NFL, Cam's a discount, I think he's their deep second. Or make a run at Tua. It's all working out. Every single team that's moved off an old, unathletic, older quarterback is happy today.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Now, Philip Rivers is the best one of those old unathletic quarterbacks. By far, he's better than Eli, is better than Dalton. He's the best one. I'm not disputing that. He's still got two years left somewhere. Maybe it's a Carolina. But everybody that's moving off the old athletic guy to the dynamic new guy as the NFL changes, this league is changing.
Starting point is 00:08:51 And it's not changing in Philip Rivers direction. It is a precision league. It's a cut down your mistakes league. It's a just run for a. first down. If you can't find an open receiver league, you can't just keep throwing it into traffic. I mean, Philip Rivers after the game admitted last night. I mean, this guy, for the record, remember against the Raiders 10 days ago? How bad he was in the two-minute drill? He just looks old and unathletic and the Chargers offensive line like almost all in the NFL now is not very good.
Starting point is 00:09:21 This is the new league. Battle lines didn't used to be this 10 years ago. But with a new CBA, offensive lines outside of Pittsburgh and Dallas are mostly crap, and they're going to be crap. Indianapolis has a good one. Dallas has a good one. Pittsburgh. Outside of that, there's about 20 Mez, and that's the way it's going to be. So you have to, the new NFL is you have to get a quarterback that can move. Kyler Murray with no offensive line, very, very interesting. It's not just, it's not that the league is going. They're all going to be Lamar Jackson. I mean, he's an outlier. I mean, he doesn't exist on the market.
Starting point is 00:09:58 But they're going to look a lot like Kylerbury and a lot like Sam Darnold and a lot like Daniel Jones and a lot like Deshaun Watson where, oh, they can throw. But with bad online play, now the rule, not the exception, and that's not going to change. They're not going to add more practices and more hitting in the NFL with this safety concern around the league. This is the new NFL. You cannot be old and unathletic quarterback. I said this. It's not an either or anymore. It's not, I want a pocket guy or a mobile guy.
Starting point is 00:10:30 No, no, no, no, no. You got to have both. You got to have a pocket guy who can move. Phillips's the least athletic guy in the league now that Eli Manning's not playing. And I'll tell you right now, they have a chance. Two things going for the Chargers. They're moving to a new stadium, can't sell tickets. Right now they have the 11th pick in the draft.
Starting point is 00:10:46 And the Chargers are very unique. They have a good roster. They got two, three good corners. They got two good pass rushers. They got all sorts of stuff. If I'm the Chargers at number 11, I call the New York Jets at five, and I say, let's flip spaces. We'll give you our number two corner.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Maybe I'll, and if the Jets play hardball, give us one of your pass rushers, we'll take that money off the table. And if I'm the Chargers, I go after Tua because Cincinnati's taking a quarterback and Miami's taking a quarterback, and Tua is going to drop. And if I'm the Chargers today, you need juice. This roster is too good. we've got a changing league. I'm the Chargers. I go hard after Tua. And I call the New York Jets who have a corner issue, a wide receiver issue, a pass rusher issue.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And you get on the phone and say, we got two all, everything here. We got two good receivers. The Chargers have two good receivers, two good pass rushers, two good backs, two good corners. Go get the number two at any of those positions, flip picks. Jets would gladly move down to 11 or 12. their need offensive line will be available at 11, 12, 13 or 14. But Tua won't be available there. Because people are going to pass on him.
Starting point is 00:12:03 They're not going to pass on Tua very long. And he would be the star L.A. needs. He would be the juice L.A. needs. He would sell tickets. He would be the mobile quarterback in a conference now that's got Mahomes and Derek Carr. I mean, I think it's, this is what I love about sports. It's constantly fluid. It's Silicon Valley.
Starting point is 00:12:25 It's changing. You've got to keep up. Battle lines is the new reality. That's the new NFL. Translation, it's not an either-or quarterback. Got to get a dude that can move. Okay? Justin Herbert, Oregon, can move.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Joe Burrell was a high school all-state basketball player can move. Tua can move. By the way, next year, Trevor Lawrence can move. Justin Fields can move. Two guys on the market. One of them's cam. He can move. Philip Rivers felt bad afterwards.
Starting point is 00:12:53 By the way, he knows it's a problem afterwards. It's a football game. I mean, you know, if you could just pick and choose and never throw them ever, I'd choose to throw zero. So certainly don't want to throw them, but certainly I know it's hurting us right now. So, you know, obviously need to cut them out. This is perfect. The Chargers have two good pass rushers, two good corners, two good backs.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I mean, they had two good receivers. Give up the second best at one of the first. those spots to move up with the Jets or a team like the Jets and solve quarterback, get juice, get mobile, get athletic, because you're not beating Derek Carr and Patrick Mahomes the next eight years with that. You might as well make a move. This is an NFL draft with three elite prospects. Next year's got two elite prospects.
Starting point is 00:13:46 You've got five A plus prospects coming in. You got Cam on the market who would be my second choice. Ideally, I'd take a young guy and start over. All right. Tom Brady, I love this guy. Tom Brady came out. Patriots play the Cowboys Sunday in what will be the highest rated NFL regular season game in a long time. And Brady said, we're not Dallas. We're not close to Dallas.
Starting point is 00:14:11 He said that. I'll explain coming up. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard Radio app. Welcome to my new podcast. And we're still chasing it, and we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? And on my podcast, The Cliverts show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
Starting point is 00:16:32 What? Carderback on office blue 42. Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Jared Adano.
Starting point is 00:16:55 You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet. Help! Somebody! Please! But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian.
Starting point is 00:17:05 And recently, I've become quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends.
Starting point is 00:17:23 as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice. One ring is too scary. Oh, cream a chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know. Listen to Help from Hypocrite as part of the Mike Coutura Podcast Network
Starting point is 00:17:48 available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. one of the things that drives me crazy sometimes with people in general. So I tell my therapist, you know, when people live in a tunnel and they can't see out of the tunnel, like Philadelphia guy thinks everybody loves the Eagles or they're against the Eagles. And most people, frankly, in America, don't care about the Eagles. Outside of Philadelphia, nobody wakes up worrying about the Eagles. We're not for you, we're not against you. We don't give a rip.
Starting point is 00:18:18 I do like Carson Wentz in the front office. And when I lived in the East Coast, Boston is one of these cities where they think everybody just cares about the Red Sox. No, they care about the Yankees. People think everybody cares about the Patriots. No, they care about the Cowboys. So Dallas plays New England this week. Dallas is overwhelmingly the number one brand in America in sports. It's not close.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Eight of the top 50 TV ratings in America last year were Cowboy Games. That includes all television. Eight out of 50. And the Cowboys were nine and seven. They're not winning Super Bowls like New England. So Brady was asked on WDEI if he thinks the Patriots, and it doesn't surprise me that a New England host, hey, are we America's team in New England?
Starting point is 00:19:06 And Brady, smart, self-awareness from California, traveled the world, big picture guy, you know, not Patrick O. Sullivan from a Southie. Brady's like, slowdown, slowdown. New England's not America's team. I mean, I don't think we're probably America's favorite team at this point. So I think we've got six states that cheer for us. So six is better.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Most teams have like one state or a little bit of an area, but we got six. So I think that's pretty good. The fans we have, we really appreciate and they come out and support us. But we have a lot of non-fans too. I'll put it that way. And by the way, I don't think Connecticut supports the Patriots. I think it's 50-50 with the giants and the Patriots. Goulaes from Connecticut,
Starting point is 00:19:51 it's a borderline New York giant state over a Patriot state. And by the way, if the Patriots went 5 and 11, 5 and 11, 5 and 11 when Brady retires, nobody would care. They would be the Toronto Raptors. Nobody would care. Dallas is Starbucks. Everybody's, and it's popular everywhere. The Patriots are Dunkin' Donuts.
Starting point is 00:20:11 The further you get away from New England, nobody cares. There's only three real brands in this league in the NFL. Dallas is one, Pittsburgh 2, Green Bay is 3, there is no number 4. Number 4 is based on who's winning. If Drew Brees won a Super Bowl, the Saints would be number 4. San Francisco with Montana,
Starting point is 00:20:30 they were a 4. You know, Bradshaw with the Steelers, you know, when you get these big iconic brands, like Green Bay with Farr, Dallas with Aikman, Big Ben, Bradshaw with the Steelers, they challenged the Cowboys, but they never surpass them. You know, Farr with the Packers,
Starting point is 00:20:46 Aikman with the Cowboys, That's about as close as you can get to surpassing Dallas when you got the handsome, the star quarterback. But the fourth most popular team in this league, it just, you know, Seattle with Russell Wilson for two years was wildly, you know, Philadelphia for about an hour. The Giants winning Super Bowls. But it's a three-team brand league. Nobody's ever surpass the Cowboys. There's a rule in the NFL. You cannot put any team, what's the rule?
Starting point is 00:21:13 There's a, it's a TV rule on prime time. You can't have any team on more than six times. That's called the cowboy rule. Otherwise, everybody would put the cowboys. I mean, at Fox, we'd put them Sunday night football, Monday night football. Last year, I think they were the highest rated game on four to five networks. Our, CBS, Sunday night, Monday night, they have to create rules so that you don't put the cowboys on prime time.
Starting point is 00:21:40 So Brady gets it. Brady gets it. Like the Cowboys have always been number one. this rating Sunday night for the Cowboys and the Patriots will be huge. It's 75% of cowboy rating, 25% of Tom Brady rating. I don't think the Patriots, if they lost, would be in the top 12 to 15.
Starting point is 00:21:58 I really don't. Russell Wilson didn't play for the Seahawks. That's not a top 15 brand. Seahawks were never nationally relevant until Russell Wilson got there. That's why these star quarterbacks in the NFL, they're worth $100 million a year. I mean, you can't, what is? what is the Seattle Seahawk brand without Russell Wilson?
Starting point is 00:22:21 What if Matt Flynn was a starter six years now? That's not a national brand. Montana likes them, Washington likes them, Oregon kind of likes them, and Idaho likes them. So it's just nice to see that Brady has an understanding of sort of the big picture. He may live in Boston. He's not of Boston. He may also read Forbes, where they very clearly say that the Dallas Cowboys are the most profitable. sports organization in the world.
Starting point is 00:22:48 There's other countries on this planet. And all of those countries, the Cowboys are the most profitable in the world. They're the biggest brand in the world when it comes to sports. Period. I don't even think in the NFL, it's Green Bay with Farrv got close. Big Ben Bradshaw Steelers moved close. Aikman Cowboys got close. or like Aitman Cowboys was, in my estimation,
Starting point is 00:23:16 Aitman Cowboys was the most popular of the Cowboys have ever been. They pulled away from the league in popularity. Now, you know. You don't have to love the Cowboys, but you just can't argue with those numbers. Facts or facts? The star on the Cowboy logo is a symbol of American football.
Starting point is 00:23:33 The Patriot logo is a symbol in Boston. I mean, and I'm a Patriot Homer. I'm a Brady Homer. But that brand is Brady. That brand is Belichick. not the logo. It's not the brand. Joy with the news. No. No. No. Turn on the news. This
Starting point is 00:23:48 is the herd line news. Well, you know how we love the Browns talking about their last game in the middle of the week? Now, usually it happens around Wednesday, but they did play on Thursday, so we guess we'd bump it up a day. So we're still talking about the fight and the suspensions
Starting point is 00:24:04 the Browns are. Obviously, a lot of suspensions and fines came down after that fight between the Browns and Steelers last Thursday night. And Brown's defensive tackle, Sheldon, Richard was very unhappy that Mason Rudolph was not one of the players who received a suspension. Can't antagonize a fight. You need to claim bully. I get what's coming to you.
Starting point is 00:24:22 You know what I mean? The question when I was over-the-law and the reaction is just that simple. The help me was over-boy. Let's get that clear. It's over-boy. It was. But defending yourself, no, I'm not. I don't blame him for defending yourself at all.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Why do you have any opinion about it at this point? Cleveland now 11 straight weeks is talking about the last game with a huge game coming. up. Just say it was wrong and we're moving on to the next week. God, this team is just, this is why I said yesterday. The minute the Raiders won, Buffalo won, and the Colts won this weekend, Brown season's over. They're two back of
Starting point is 00:24:56 the Raiders, and Raiders are better than Cleveland, and they're two back of Indy, and I think Indy's better than Cleveland, and certainly smarter and more disciplined, and now they're three back of Buffalo. This is a game, by the way, this Miami game in Cleveland, watch it be competitive. Oh, it will be. It will be. I don't look I don't necessarily agree with how everything went down with Mason Rudolph either.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I think he should have been suspended a game. I do think he added to the fight and got up and did a little bit more and they probably should send a stronger message there. But I'm also fine with him being fine because he's never been in a fight before. So they have levels to this. There's a reason why he's been suspended indefinitely, which he's going to appeal tomorrow. It's going to get reduced. You can't just suspend players indefinitely.
Starting point is 00:25:35 It's just the thing they said to simmer down the situation. So he'll get 10 games or 16 games or whatever they're going to give him. But to come out and say this after, like, it's Tuesday. That wasn't an incredibly embarrassing moment for the franchise. There's no other opinion to have. It doesn't matter if Mason Rudolph got suspended or not. It just doesn't. We all agree he antagonized the fight.
Starting point is 00:25:56 Yeah. But he's hit him over the head with his helmet. Yeah. The minute you did that, the NFL said, there are times you could be in a room and people could do, you know, or say, you know, inappropriate things. But if there's an action that is so over the time. top of the other action, then nobody cares about the other stuff. And everyone knows that's what happens. When you're in an altercation, there's a decision to be made there of how far you're going to take it. And look, I agree. You can't chase after
Starting point is 00:26:23 him and then throw your hands up in the air, but it doesn't matter. Don't talk about it. Just don't talk about the last game. So the Panthers have a losing record of 13 and 14 since David Tepper bought the team in 2018. Carolina's now lost three of their last four games this year and Tepper reportedly told Charlotte Media that he is extremely frustrated with losing and will not accept long-term mediocrity. He doesn't want to make a decision on Cam Newton's future until he's fully healthy, but he said it would be ideal for Cam to return and lead the Panthers to a Super Bowl victory one day. He's also pleased with Kyle Allen's performance so far, saying he's exceeded expectations
Starting point is 00:26:56 since filling in for Newton. I do like that he hasn't made any, the new owner hasn't made any drastic moves yet. to me that's a good sign. Owners that come in and fire everybody and then aren't happy after three games and then fire a new person. We know how that goes. So that's just setting a bad precedent for the future of your organization. I do think there's going to be
Starting point is 00:27:16 some changes next year though. And I just don't know how after all the conversation about Kyle Allen when he had that short-term string of success about Cam Newton, how Cam Newton comes back. It's almost one of those things where it's like you already didn't pull the plug on him because he's injured,
Starting point is 00:27:31 but it doesn't feel like he's going to be there next year. To me, there's an easy solution. I think it's an obvious one. I would go after Teddy Bridgewater. I'll say this again for Carolina. Teddy knows the Saints. He knows the division. He's going to be a free agent.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Two or three teams. There won't be a robust market for Teddy, but there'll be two or three teams. Carolina can say, stay in the time zone, stay in the division. We'll give you Christian McCaffrey, two great young receivers, Greg Olson, veteran head coach, stable organization, rich owner. and Teddy Bridgewater is kind of, for those getting frustrated with Cam, Teddy's the opposite. Totally focused on football.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Incredibly coachable. Super accurate. Great distributor. Takes to coaching immediately. Teddy Bridgewater to Carolina is so obvious. I don't know why it's not out there. You can literally bring over a guy that no, and he's a free agent, he's on the market.
Starting point is 00:28:28 And it's not going to be a dynamic market for him. about, you know, Tennessee may go after him. Carolina can say, this is the part of the country, time zone you grew up in, you know the division, you know the personnel, we are a stable franchise with a superstar running back and tremendous young receivers and a defense that keeps you in games. I'm Teddy Bridgewater.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Carolina is so attractive to me. And if I'm Carolina and that building split right now on CAM, all the CAM stuff that drives you nuts, Teddy's the opposite. And it just feels like they're at, They've reached that crossroads with Cam where it's like if you stick with him. Then you've got to stick with him. You have to, yeah, so you have to ride that out for the rest of the time because they're just good enough to not be high enough to get a draft pick
Starting point is 00:29:12 or be in the conversation unless they make a major trade to move up. So you're in a cut, not win now mode, but you have, you have talent. Like don't demolish the situation. Add someone who proved themselves this year like Teddy Bridgewater. And I think Cam should end up probably either here in L.A. with the Chargers or with the Bears. Finally, Luca Donchich continued his incredible sophomore season last night. He had a career high, 42 points with 11 rebounds and 12 assists in the Mavericks 117, 110 win over the Spurs.
Starting point is 00:29:41 At 23 years, I'm sorry, 20 years and 263 days old, that stat line makes Donchich the second youngest player to record a 40-point triple double. The youngest is LeBron James, who completed the feat at 20 years old and just 100 days old. Luca is going to be an unstoppable offensive force. Now, how well-rounded is he, his size, his ability to handle the ball? Is Luca 6-10? He looks so big to be. He's the biggest 6-7 guy I've ever seen in my life. He's just so strong.
Starting point is 00:30:14 And he doesn't, I don't want to compare him to LeBron, but he does kind of have that, like, downhill style of play where he just kind of pushes you to the basket. And he's strong. He is what they call a natural score. Yes. He is going to drop 25. And he does.
Starting point is 00:30:32 He looks so big because everybody that's guarding him is like 6'5. And he's just angular and long. He can put it on the deck. He creates his own shot. It's hard for the guys. The bigs can't keep up with him. The smalls he towers over. I mean, look at this video.
Starting point is 00:30:48 That guy's 27 a night. He's so fun to watch. They're fifth in the West now. I love the future of the Mavericks in his hands. He really is a star. He's just enjoyable to watch. Yeah. It's fun when Dallas is good.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Yes, it is. Dallas is a fun team to root for. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Ly News. Three Super Bowl rings. Future's so bright, he wears shades off into these shows.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Two-time pro bowler. Mark Schlarith is joining us. By the way, so you've done some Panthers. You've done a lot of that NFC South. So tell me I'm nuts on this. Okay, so we got three A. prospects coming into football. We've got about 10 to 12 to 13 really good young quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I count Garoppolo Carr same age. So, and with the deterioration of offensive lines, there is no, you can't argue this. That's the new normal. It's like security at the airport. It's going to be an hour. That's the new normal, right? And so you've got to have some athletic ability at quarterback. Now, Teddy does not provide that.
Starting point is 00:31:49 That's my only knock on Teddy. But if you look at what Teddy Bridgewater provides, Carolina, to me, they want to move off Cam, but they don't know how to do it. You've done that division. Am I nuts to say Bridgewater is a natural, Cam will go somewhere in the market, Bridgewater
Starting point is 00:32:07 to Carolina. Yeah, no, you know, I'm sitting over there, and I heard that for the first time, and you're, I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit. Normally, I like to come on here and bust you, but I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit, because remember, when Bridgewater took the Minnesota Vikings to the playoffs, I believe, you know who
Starting point is 00:32:23 was the offense coordinator? Norv Turner. You know who the offensive coordinator is in Carolina? North Turner. I mean, that does make a lot of sense, and they've had success with Teddy Bridgewater. There is no question about that in, you know, Minnesota, before you had that horrific knee injury.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Chicago's not going to go for him because of his arm is limited. It's a windy, cold, northern division. So the northern teams are like out on him. It's dome teams or southern teams, and I think it works. And I want to talk about this, too, with Mark Slarer. So there are these teams that want to move off quarterback, but they don't have a solution. Eli, the Giants wanted to move off Eli for a year and a half.
Starting point is 00:32:58 They didn't have a solution. Correct. Daniel Jones looks good in camp, out. Cam Newton, they were hoping Kyle Allen's the solution. He's not Teddy could be. So Philip Rivers, they've got two good pass rushers in the charges. Two good receivers, two good backs, two or three good corners.
Starting point is 00:33:16 They can move the second best at any of those and move up in the draft. They can't sell tickets. They're moving moving into a stadium. Philip doesn't want to live in L.A. You call me crazy. To sell tickets in this town, they need juice at quarterback. I'd go after Tua. I'd move off Philip Rivers. I know he's an old... Yeah, but I mean, I would look at Tua. I mean, the plan is, like, is he injury prone? How's he going to come off this hip? We don't know. I would say this. And you talked about offensive line being an epidemic.
Starting point is 00:33:49 And I travel around calling games. I talk to general managers all the time who say, how you, how How would you fix it, you know? How would you fix the issues that are going on in the NFL right now? And a lot of it, you know, a lot of it is because you have created a league in which, you know, you can't work on that skill. That's right. And that is like, that's an unsolvable problem. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:10 That is a, I mean, moving a man from point A to point B against his will is one of the greatest skills in football. And you have eliminated the opportunity to work on that skill. And then you wonder why you're no good up front. So there's a big issue there. and it's an epidemic. Not only that, think about the freak shows that you have to block on a week-to-week basis.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Guys are bigger, stronger, faster. I mean, they're running 4-4 off the corner, and they're 260 pounds. I mean, it's ridiculous. So this is my point. There are things in sports that are solvable. You know, replay. You bring, you can, right now,
Starting point is 00:34:42 everybody's freaking out about the pass interference replay thing. Just change the rule and solve it. I think offensive line play is not solvable. College is doing the spread. so outside of an occasional Wisconsin offensive lineman, nobody's a road grader. They don't exist. And the NFL is not going to add more practices
Starting point is 00:35:00 and more hitting with offensive linemen, the unit that needs it. Bad quarterback, bad O-line play is here. Philip Rivers, Eli Manning. You can't win that. You can't have an old and athletic guy. You've got to move at quarterback. I mean, Darnold, last two weeks,
Starting point is 00:35:16 is running for his life and they're winning, but it's like, Philip Rivers has six. fixing those games. You know what's interesting about that. You go statistically, show me the top five teams as far as run percentage is concerned. The percentage of times they run the football. Because you can fix O-line issues.
Starting point is 00:35:36 This is where I would disagree with you. You can fix O-line issues if you have a coach that understands O-line problems. Right? You have to be intelligent enough to know what the issues are so that you can address the issues. But if you are a team that just wants to spread you out and throw it, you know, every single time. You show me the teams that have the top
Starting point is 00:35:56 percentage. San Francisco. Top running percentage. San Francisco. You've got... Saints, when they generally the Saints. I mean, you've got New England. You've got, I mean, the five top teams. You look at the bottom teams, I guarantee you, the Jets, Minnesota,
Starting point is 00:36:11 or, excuse me, Miami. I know Atlanta's number one. They're three and seven right now. They're number one as far as percentage. They throw it 70% of the time, 69.7% of the time. You cannot, you expose your issues up front when you play the game that way. So those issues, like, you're not all of a sudden going to be more athletic there
Starting point is 00:36:33 or all of a sudden you're going to find road graders in college. What you have to do is understand how to call plays, how to put a game plan together that protects those guys and yet is still dynamic. And the league is shifting. It is. There's this cyclical change that people are looking at it and going, we better start to learn how to dictate in situational football when we have to dictate in the running game.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Not popping a draw on third and six for 30 yards and going, look, let's celebrate. We know how to run the ball. No, you don't. You got to be able to run it down when you can't. Third down and two, you better know how to run the ball. Eight-man fronts, nine-man fronts. That's all you see when you get in the red zone.
Starting point is 00:37:08 You damn well better understand how to run the ball in those situations. And if you don't, you're not a very good football team. When I think of a running team, I think of Baltimore, New England, Seattle, Yeah. The Patriots. Seattle, by the one way, one of those top five teams as far as rush percentage is concerned. And when I think of a team that can't run, I think of Kansas City will address the Chiefs and their issues. I think they become way too Mahalm-centric.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Plus your thoughts on the Raiders and the biggest regular season game, Cowboys Patriots, maybe in two years. It is going to get a monster number. Starting point is 00:38:14 And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:39:43 And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff. like being an internet famous referee. We're in the middle of a game. This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her. What? Come up.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Quarterback on office blue with 42. Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her. What? Where's she at? Hey, Miss Parker. Listen to the Clippers show on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:40:20 Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021. And I'm Kunky, his best friend and business manager. And we've got a new show called The 1021 podcast. Listen to the 1021 podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:40:53 So many great stories in the NFL. I want to start with this. I said I'd buy two Raiders season tickets, give them to a charity if they were 500 or better. I think I'm going to lose the bet. I think they'll beat the Jets this weekend. Mike Mayock. I'm watching the – I watched the Raiders on Sunday. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:41:14 To me, are we sure Kansas City is better than the Raiders? If they are, probably at the end of the year, they're better than the Raiders because they host them December 1st, and that'll be the game Kansas City wins. You know Mayok. Sure. Raiders' offensive pieces, Mayok's hit home runs. Gruden's offense is clever, power, smart, finesse, efficient.
Starting point is 00:41:37 It's everything. Listen, there's no question. What people don't understand about Mike Mayock is Mike Mayock comes from a family where his dad was an offensive line coach. So I've had conversations this season. with Mike Mayer because I've done a couple of radar games where he's just like, listen, I have built this team based on my father's philosophy from the inside out. Like that's, you look at their offensive line.
Starting point is 00:41:57 You Hudson's an all pro. Richie Uncognito can flat out play and he's playing great right now. The Colton Miller kid left tackle has really played well. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, but I mean, I'm talking about Gabe Jackson and then they went out and got Trent Brown. So they solidified their front guys. They've got the Jacobs is the running back position.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Hunter Refre. Renfro. They built it from the inside out. they play with three legit tight ends. I mean, they are, like, you watch them. They could be a power team. Oh, my, they want to. I called their game in Chicago when Chicago was still good.
Starting point is 00:42:29 They were the reason Chicago's defense is struggling right now because they opened up the blueprint on how to just absolutely bludgeon. They thunder punched them in the lips from the opening play of the game. And I'm telling you what, they double teamed at the point, and they just piled drove the Chicago Bears. and they had no answer for it. And I'll tell you what, they can do that to just about anybody because of the way Mike Mayok has built them.
Starting point is 00:42:53 They have three running backs that all look the same. Jacobs is the best. Then they have possession guys like a Hunter Renfro. The tight end, they got Darren. Waller. Waller is a great story. Out of the league kicked out, was a drug user, went to rehab. He's completely turned his life around. And he is a, he's 65, he's 265.
Starting point is 00:43:14 He is put together. and he is not afraid to block people. He's one of the few guys. He's like George Kittle in the NFC who will block you and also run routes around you. He is not afraid to get his hands dirty. I really like their foot. No. I mean, I want to vomit my mouth right now.
Starting point is 00:43:30 I just said I really like the Raiders. No, I got to tell you something. When I watch the Raiders, they match up with a Baltimore Raven. 73% completion percentage, power running backs, good old line. Their defense does not match the Ravens' defense. The Ravens defense. You look what the Ravens did. They got rid of C.J. Mosley.
Starting point is 00:43:48 They got rid of Smith on the outside. The Darius Smith. They got rid of Weddell. And their defense is outrageous. I love Wink Martindel, their coordinator. He is one of those guys that say, hey, if I'm going to lose, I'm going to lose punching you in the face. There is nobody who blitzes more.
Starting point is 00:44:04 There's nobody who plays more man coverage. And they're just like, bring it. Let's go. We can line up with you. Okay. You said you like the Raiders. Do you like the Cowboys? is because you grew up, you know, Washington Redskin, Denver Bronco, Cowboys on the road, New England.
Starting point is 00:44:20 Biggest regular, I never preview NFL games on Tuesday. Right. I can't, this game says so much. The outcome could mean so much. What do you make of Dallas at New England? Seven point dog. That's like, I was shocked. That to me is not the talent of the football team or the way that.
Starting point is 00:44:38 That to me is, is this team ready on a big stage? to be mature enough to make the plays against Tom Brady the New England Patriots, right? I mean, Tom even comes out, they're still America's team, which always drove me crazy.
Starting point is 00:44:52 You know, the star on your helmet with the Dallas, Cowboys. You'd be, like, you go to Dallas, man. You'd be sitting on the bench. Like, you sit on the bench, and it just make you a one, I mean, it just make you sick. Everything was, everything was sponsored.
Starting point is 00:45:04 It does, this third down, brought you by TCBY Yogurt, the official yogurt of America's team. You know, and you'd be like, I hate that. Cowboys. But they are what they are. But I think this spread says to me more about one, New England's defense, right? And how will DAC and how will the Cowboys attack that? And I just say, I think it says to me it's about the coaching and about the maturity level of the Dallas
Starting point is 00:45:31 Cowboys. Are you ready? I mean, come on. You had, you had Minnesota at home on a Sunday, I think it was a Sunday night game, Minnesota at home, where Kirk Cousins has all these demons. He can't exercise the demons of prime time against a 500, above 500 team and all this stuff. And you let them go 13 plays, 10 running plays at the end to go up, you know, to go up on you. And, you know, in a drive at the end of the game in the fourth quarter, whatever it was, I can't remember the exacts of that. But the bottom line is you let Kirk Cousins who you couldn't hold him down. And that to me is what that says. That lines an indictment. If I said to you, let's just do this top of our head, 10 best
Starting point is 00:46:12 players in this. I always do this. Sometimes when I bet on Friday and I'm undecided, 10 best players in a game. Zeke would be in the 10. No question. Amari Cooper's in the 10. Sure. One of the two cowboy linebackers is in the 10. Yes.
Starting point is 00:46:28 Jalen Smith's probably having a better year. But they're both outstanding. DeMarcus Lawrence is in the top 10. Tyron Smith Cowboys is in the top 10. Zach Martin's in the top 10. Okay. Right? Okay. So Stefan Gilmore's in the top 10.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Brady's in the top 10. You start looking at it. What do you have left now? You have one? Was that you at 9 now? I'm at 8. At 8. I think one of the McCordy brothers may be in the 10.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Sure, sure. But my point is, Dallas is a 7-point dog and may have 7 of the 10 best players in the game. I don't think Dax's very far out of the top 10, to be honest with you right now. I think he'd probably be in there at 9 or 10. The way he's playing, he probably beat. So this is essentially. indictment on the coaching staff of Dallas. That's what that number is to me.
Starting point is 00:47:17 Yeah, yeah. Like I said, this is, this is Belichick versus Jason Garrett, and this is, you know, your maturity or lack thereof versus our defense and our maturity and our coach. By the way,
Starting point is 00:47:31 a minute and a half left, Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City in rushing, got four picks, and at the end, Chargers going 18 seconds, Red Zone for a tie. Kansas City is the latest Patriot beater in the AFC. What do they do well?
Starting point is 00:47:47 I know Mahomes is great. What do they do well? Well, you know, they're built to me. They're built as a regular season football team. While you look at the Kansas City Chiefs, and I don't have any stats, I just watch games, right? I just call games and watch games. You look at them, I guarantee you off the top of my head. They've got more 40-plus
Starting point is 00:48:03 yard touchdowns than any team in the league. You know why? Because they're that athletic and they're that dynamic. And when you go week to week to week, like you do in this league, You're going to beat teams with big time plays when you have those big time athletes. You get in the playoffs, inclement weather, good football teams. Better coaches. They don't give up 40-yard touchdowns.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Never. They don't. Like, you look at, go back to the Raiders game. I think it was week two. The Raiders gave up like four 40-yard touchdowns in the second quarter. They end up losing the game, 28 to 10. Like, it just doesn't happen come playoff time. And I just don't think you're built to win in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:48:42 I just don't. I think they're the huge. Houston Rockets. They are great. And all of a sudden you get to the playoffs and it's like, you know, your back court has to play some defense. And you read is Mike Dan Tony, right? I can't anymore. Hour two, Herd hierarchy. Starting point is 00:52:55 Joy, I know it's a long drive. Sam Betesh came out there. Producer Sam came out there. He lives very far. He brought his beautiful girlfriend last night and a bunch of food, and it was just a lot of fun goulay. You like to eat. It would be okay.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Yeah, thanks for the invite. Appreciate that. Last night. I don't like burgers or beers or anything. Are you going to have, like, a, special. Let's do that. Let's have a special herd night for staff. That's a good idea. Uncle Colin buys drinks and food for everybody.
Starting point is 00:53:22 I like that even more now. Okay. All right. I'll Uber there. So no worries. You're going to have a special herd beer? I have two of them. What's the flavor palette? Herd IPA is very good. Had a couple of those last night. Got a test stuff. It's very important. You got test stuff, right? Burgers and beer all night. All right. We call it the herd hierarchy.
Starting point is 00:53:43 top 10 teams in the NFL. I'm obsessed over this. I spend a lot of time on this, and I look at every number and every piece of data, and we end up with what we think of the top 10 teams in the NFL this morning, and here we go. Heard hierarchy. Time is now, let's go.
Starting point is 00:53:58 The top 10 NFL teams, according to college. Number 10. Kansas City, what do they do well? I love Andy Reid's play designing, and I love Patrick Mahomes' talent, but they're 26th in total defense, their 30th in rush defense. And I'm sorry, if you can't get New England off the field or Baltimore off the field or
Starting point is 00:54:18 Indianapolis off the field, you're not winning any playoff games. You cannot be this bad running the football. Last night they got four picks and the chargers were going for the tie with 18 seconds left in Mexico City. They simply don't do enough well. They get to the quarterback pretty well. But, you know, when your offense won't be on the field because you can't stop the Ravens running, game, your 10th in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:54:44 Number nine. I think the Raiders right now do more well than the Kansas City Chiefs. The Raiders have allowed the second fewest sacks, their offensive lines better. The Raiders are tied for fourth in giveaways with only 10. They don't turn it over. They're healthier than Kansas City. They run the football better than Kansas City. They've won five of their last seven and they've gone up against teams like Chicago and
Starting point is 00:55:06 pushed them around. This is a real Raiders team. I was totally wrong on it. Mike Mayok's done an unbelievable job. Between Richie Incognito, Trent Brown in the offensive line, between Josh Jacobs at running back, Hunter Renfro, the wide receiver,
Starting point is 00:55:23 the tight end from LSU, Darren Waller, the other tight end from Baltimore. They can play power football. They can be clever. They're incredibly efficient. Ninth in offensive rushing, you know, yards per game. So top 10, they'll pound it,
Starting point is 00:55:37 eat the clock. Raiders 9. Number 8. Cowboys at 8, I drop them. Listen, we got a problem here defensively. Jeff Driscoll gave you problems. They're 21st in takeaways. They haven't had a takeaway in two weeks.
Starting point is 00:55:51 Jeff Driscoll, Kirk Cousins in prime time, takeaways tell me you're making the other quarterback uncomfortable. When you start seeing big turnovers, that's like, like last night, you know, you see a lot of turnovers. It's like, oh, there's something going on with a quarterback. He is rushed. Dallas doesn't do that anymore. Last couple of weeks, they're giving up 28 a game to what I consider, you know,
Starting point is 00:56:14 Kirk Cousins and Jeff Driscoll. Kirk Cousins is obviously better. It's not about DAC. Dak's one of the things I love about this team. Left tackle, Amari Cooper, Dak, love that. Love that. I like their weapons a lot. Randall Cobb, Michael Gallup.
Starting point is 00:56:27 They actually have one of the top four or five receiving cores in the NFL. But this defense is a problem, especially when you're in a division with Garoppolo and Aaron Rogers and Russell Wilson and a lot of clever offenses. Number seven. Slightly ahead of them, the Minnesota Vikings. They've won six of their last seven. But, you know, they're so weird.
Starting point is 00:56:46 They fall behind 20 to nothing at home to Denver. They only rush for 37 yards. And by the way, if you go to Kirk Cousins against teams 500 or above since 2018, four and eight. So, you know, this is one of these. I don't trust them still. Love their talent. Love their roster.
Starting point is 00:57:04 Certainly make the argument. They're like a cold weather. chargers. Like I, the roster, you can't deny the roster. They got two of everything. They got good players everywhere. But I think, you know, this week's a classic example. Escaping Denver at home after falling behind 20-0. Number six. Green Bay. Like them a lot. Getting better offensively. Aaron has a running game, but I don't think their defense, again, intimidates anybody. They don't give the ball away. So you're getting all the upside of Aaron. I get explosiveness.
Starting point is 00:57:39 I like the receivers. And Aaron never gives you free picks. You know, Aaron's got a passer rating of 102 this year, 65% completion percentage. But again, I do believe teams will be able to impose their will. I think a Seattle could run on them. We already saw Philadelphia do that. So I like Green Bay. Don't love them.
Starting point is 00:58:02 I like them. Number five. San Francisco hosts Green Bay this weekend and his favorite. Now, their defense is allowed 25 plus points in three straight games. Some of that is Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray are really good. Let's not overreact to their defense. I still think it's great, but you know, you get these off-script quarterbacks who can run around a little bit like Kyler and Russell, and you can see they're a little bit vulnerable. They need George Kittleback.
Starting point is 00:58:27 He's gronk. He is gronk to the Patriots. But New England's offense is not the same without gronk. Kittle's been hurt. He's a man-child blocking. He's dynamic offensively. and go vertical. So they're just not the same team,
Starting point is 00:58:40 but they're still very, very good. They're rushing game. They're not running the football as well as they were early in the year, so I put them at five. Number four. I put Seattle one spot ahead of them because I just trust, I just trust Russell Wilson to make a play down the stretch, maybe more than anybody not named Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:58:57 This year, Russell Wilson is completing 69% of his throws. He's added Josh Gordon. He's first in the NFL two-minute drill. The only losses this year by Seattle, By the way, is the Ravens and the Saints. So, you know, they're in good company. And by the way, Jadavian Clowney and Josh Gordon, in those losses are not a factor. Now those guys are real players.
Starting point is 00:59:19 So I think Seattle added two high-end players to already a good team to make them very good. I would put them. And by the way, they've also won a couple of overtime games. So we know situationally, Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson, games get tight in the playoffs. They're good. Number three. New England. You know, again, we can keep barking on them, and I would be the first to admit they have no deep threat.
Starting point is 00:59:44 But my question is, if they had a deep threat in January in New England, what would it matter in Foxborough? It's 9 degrees and raining sideways. They didn't have a great deep threat last year. I think they're missing an offensive piece. Can Nikiel Harry be that piece? They're getting Isaiah win back at left tackle. They win this weekend. They're favored by a touchdown.
Starting point is 01:00:04 They're going to be 10 in 1. Guaranteeing they win. the division, get a buy, and host a playoff game, win it, they're in the AFC championship. They still have the best coach in football, the best secondary, and a defense, a experience, a coordinator still like them. Number two. Saints, they've thrown the ball over once in six games. Outside of that crappy performance a couple weeks ago against Atlanta, they've kind of
Starting point is 01:00:28 figured out the pass run thing. They're a power running team with a Hall of Fame quarterback, Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, very good offensive line. They've got a nice pass rush. They've done a good job to draft that defensive front last few years. You just got to take that Atlanta game out. It doesn't exist. Somebody lost the tape, bury it in the backyard.
Starting point is 01:00:45 It's a very good football team. They have not had a turnover in the last six games. Their third in rush defense, third down, six in total offense. Not a lot not to like outside of one lousy game against the Falcons. Number one. Baltimore, they're hot, healthy, and humming. They're unique. they're hard to practice for.
Starting point is 01:01:07 You'd probably need to see them like New England a second time off a buy. They've won six straight. They remind me of the Carolina Cam team that got to the Super Bowl. There's a certain Mike Tyson quality where they're just coming out. They feel great about themselves.
Starting point is 01:01:21 They're a matchup problem. They know they're a matchup problem. Lamar's seven straight games are rushing over 60 yards and 70% completion percentage. So he's feeling great about himself. They're mostly healthy. They've upgraded it, corner, you know, and they clobbered Seattle.
Starting point is 01:01:37 They clobbered New England. They clobbered the Texans. I don't even think there's a debate at this. I mean, you got an agenda if you don't think they're the number one team in the NFL. It was like early in the season for six weeks. Niners look like the best team. Now it's Baltimore. So we've been split.
Starting point is 01:01:51 Half the season, San Francisco, last half of the season, Baltimore. Number one, that is our hurt hierarchy. By the way, so I saw Belichick, speaking of Dallas plays, New England. Sunday in New England. It'll get just a monster number. Belichick was talking about the Cowboys this morning. Do we have so he's just talking about what a great
Starting point is 01:02:15 organization. You know, it's typical Belichick. They're the best team ever. It's unbelievable. Jerry Jones. Jerry was talking about how Belichick got fired you know, in Cleveland. And Belichick ran into Jerry Jones at a ski resort.
Starting point is 01:02:31 And here's Jerry talking about that this morning. Belichick had just been fired. Apparently they met, you know, Aspen Vale, one of these Ritzie ski resorts, and here's what happened. I was skiing after our season was over, the cowboy season was over, and I was renting skis for my grandkids, and there was a line, and somebody bumps up against me a few times, and I turn around, and there was this guy that couldn't make of him because he had his ski stuff on and goggles, and it was built. And, of course, he no longer had a job. He had been with Cleveland, and they'd let him go up there.
Starting point is 01:03:04 He said, boy, listen, said, I can coach, said if you've ever got an opportunity, don't forget about me. I've thought about that many times. You never know when you can find a great coach. That's Jerry Jones talking about Bill. By the way, this game has, it means so much. Just think about this.
Starting point is 01:03:21 So let's say Dallas loses. Let's just say Dallas loses. So they will have lost to the four playoff teams, New England, Green Bay, Saints, Minnesota. You're going to have a coaching crisis. you're going to be saying timeout, Jason Garrett can't, because Dax's not the issue. Dac may have been the issue two months ago.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Dax's great. Zeeke's not the issue. Offensive line, health is not the. Jason Garrett's running out of excuses here. They're healthy, they're loaded, and Dax's a star. You lose to the four playoff teams. You're going to have that Jason Garrett discussion is going to become a national topic on that Monday, next Monday.
Starting point is 01:03:58 If New England wins and beats down. They're 10 and 1. First round buy in the playoffs has done. New England wins off a buy. So they're going to have a buy at home win and get to the AFC championship. I mean, it really feels like that. Jason Garrett's in big trouble if Dallas loses and New England is in the AFC championship. If New England loses, Baltimore now is likely the number one seed. And they have an off, if they do lose this game, you know why they're going to lose it. They just don't have the offensive players in a shootout. With that. Dallas, and it's not a solvable problem. And Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are going to know, it's not a solvable problem. Muhammad Sudu is a nice piece. He's not solving anything over the top. And if Dallas wins, they are in the Super Bowl conversation next Monday. Because if you go to Foxborough and win, you know, don't kid yourself.
Starting point is 01:04:52 That's our big question with Dallas. You know, can they go up against the Belichick? Can they be, they do it Monday? this game, there's so many ramifications on this game. My gut feeling is New England wins. Dallas has seven of the ten best players. We should do that. Let me just do this real quick.
Starting point is 01:05:11 Just off the top of my head. Peter Kings are on the quarter. Ten best players in this game. Ten best players in this game. Zikao Elliott. Okay, Zeke, Tom Brady. I think you have to put Doc Prescott in there. Well, let's go.
Starting point is 01:05:24 Zeke would be number one. Brady, two. I would put Tyron Smith left. tackle for the Cowboys. I would say number four, Stefan Gilmore. Okay, five, right now, DAC, six, Amari Cooper, seven, Zach Martin, eight, Travis Frederick. Not one of the Cowboys linebackers in there. Two Patriots? Nine would be Jalen Smith. 10 would be one of the McCourtney brothers maybe I mean they're
Starting point is 01:06:03 DeMarcus Lawrence Okay time out Two Patriots They're favored by a touchdown Dallas loses this game Jason Gareff's getting a lot of heat I mean I do still think that's a big line But
Starting point is 01:06:17 I do too I think it my gut feeling is You'd have to take the points Right you'd have to take six and a half seven It is on the road but Yeah it's not in Yemen It's just Boston. It's not that far.
Starting point is 01:06:30 Flights go there in three hours. It's not, you know. It's not too dramatic. Yeah, it's not Libya. I mean, they're just flying on a united plane chartered eating sandwiches going to New England and playing. It's not, you know, everybody's, oh, Foxborough. I saw Peyton Manning when there.
Starting point is 01:06:43 I saw Mark Sanchez win there. I saw Joe Flacco. It's not like it says it should not be a seven point line. Well, no, I think that's a lot too. But also, if they can't go there and win, the Cowboys, I mean, that's pretty telling to where they are right now. Oh, my God. Next Monday show.
Starting point is 01:07:01 We know they're going to make the playoffs, but are they able to do anything in the playoffs? All right, Peter King's around the corner. Starting point is 01:10:45 Yeah, he had a little, he had a very not great ending with Vince McMahon. There's a lot of stuff. There's a lot of fireworks. So we're going to have him on the show tomorrow. Get into that. You know, Big J. journalism on this show.
Starting point is 01:10:58 That's what we do. This is what we do on this show. Big J. Capital J journalism. Here's another guy that does NBCSports.com. Peter King, three-time national sports writer of the year via the Coward Global Satellite Network. Okay, so it's fascinating.
Starting point is 01:11:14 The league, I have a theory on it. I don't want to bore you, but offensive line plays deteriorating. It's not an either-or. You can't have a pocket quarterback or a mobile quarterback. I think mobility is the key going forward. I want a guy that can throw from the pocket and move. I don't think offensive lines have ever been this bad.
Starting point is 01:11:30 I don't think they're getting better. I don't think college football is furnishing the NFL with great road grading offensive linemen. Be that as it may. Let's talk Baltimore. They are now a run team first, but a very efficient pass team. And let's talk about Lamar Jackson. We kind of thought this franchise with Joe Flacco was kind of dead. Peter, it felt dead for about four years.
Starting point is 01:11:53 And then it's all, now it's the most alive franchise in the league. Was it just one draft? I think the 2018 draft was gigantic for this team because not only did they pick up their long-term quarterback, apparently, in Lamar Jackson. The other thing they did was they restocked their offense for the future. They got Hayden Hurst in the first round, Mark Andrews in the third round. They got a long-term guard in Bradley Bowman. And with their fourth round pick, Kenny Young, an inside linebacker, they used that. that as the major part of the carrot to dangle to the Rams to get two-thirds of a season out of
Starting point is 01:12:37 Marcus Peters. And so that obviously is going to help on this year. Probably not in the future. I doubt they're going to sign them long term. But those are the kind of things that really are paying off right now for the Baltimore Ravens. And you talk a lot about John Harbaugh. And I think you're absolutely right.
Starting point is 01:12:57 A couple of years ago, a few years ago, I said to him, after a playoff win, I said, you know, I think you've got a chance to be the Chuck Knoll of Baltimore. And he looked at me like I was nuts. Like, I mean, I've only been in this league, seven or eight years, whatever. How can you compare me to Chuck Knoll? And I said, this is an organization that values stability. You're a guy who values stability. I could see you being here for 20 years. Yeah. Now, who knows what will happen? This is year 12. and the reason why more than ever I could see him as Chuck Knoll.
Starting point is 01:13:29 Who wouldn't want to ride the coattails of Lamar Jackson? And the Baltimore Ravens over the previous four years to this one were 32 and 33 without a playoff win. But you know what? Steve Bishotti knew that he had a good coach. And he said, hey, I'm going to ride with John Harbaugh, and I'm going to re-sign him. So I think he's going to be there a while.
Starting point is 01:13:52 Yeah. You know, I watched the Chargers last night. They can't sell any tickets. They're moving to L.A. Philip Rivers doesn't want to move his family to L.A. And they're very unique in that they've got two good receivers, two good corners, two good pass rushers, two good running backs. And they are a team that could call the New York Jets and say, we'll give you our second best corner. We want to draft number five or six.
Starting point is 01:14:14 I think they have to make a big move at quarterback. I think two and now with an injury will fall to them. I like Philip Rivers, but he's old. he's unathletic, there's too many mistakes. I think it's time to move off Philip Rivers. What say you? I don't see them doing that unless Rivers wants to move on himself. I think he's going to be their bridge quarterback into the new stadium.
Starting point is 01:14:40 Now, look, Colin, in the next six weeks, that all could change, excuse me, because we don't know. I mean, if he keeps throwing three or four interceptions every week, yeah, they're probably going to move on from him. but that's why this is a week-to-week proposition. And in my opinion, you know, the last whatever it is, five, six weeks of this season, that is going to tell the tale for Philip Rivers because I think if he plays reasonably well, the Spanos's are going to say, listen, we need this guy to get us through a year or two in the new stadium. However, I think you are very, you're on to something with what's going to happen in this draft. I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:15:23 We'll see what's going to happen with Tua. But if he isn't, if there's some doubt about whether he's going to be healthy, fully healthy in 2020, he could fall. And that could end up being a gold mine for a franchise like the Chargers. Or Carolina, teams that could end up 11, 12, 13 and have the pieces to move up to get into the four, five, or six slot because the Jets do have their quarterback. Let me shift to the Cowboys and the Patriots. Peter, we did this about five minutes ago in the show. I do this often. All right, if I'm thinking of making my picks,
Starting point is 01:15:57 the 10 best players in the Patriots Cowboys, I can make an argument with Dax Emergence, eight are Cowboys. They're a touchdown underdog in Foxborough. If they lose to New England, they will have lost to Green Bay, Minnesota, New Orleans, and New England, and I think we'll have a full-blown coaching controversy
Starting point is 01:16:18 with Jason Garrett. He can't beat top teams. or not. I can see Monday, Dallas losing with all that talent, and we have a real controversy. Take me inside Jerry Jones, who generally is patient with coaches. But there's been, I mean, he's talking about stuff in the last three weeks, Peter. He was complimenting Bill Belichick yesterday. I think he's setting the table up here if things don't go the way he wants. Do you feel any of that? Colin, we've known all along that if the Cowboys either don't make the playoffs or make a very early exit out of the playoffs, there's a good chance that he's not going to bring Jason Garrett back.
Starting point is 01:17:04 And so nothing has changed and nothing's going to change if they lose on Sunday. He's not firing Jason Garrett next week for losing as a seven-point underdog. You know, it's just not going to happen. Now, I understand your point. some point, they've got to rise to the occasion and beat a really good team, which they haven't done yet, unless you consider the Eagles a really good team, which I don't at this point in time. But I think this was always going to be about, you know, deciding Jason Garrett's fate sometime in January, and nothing has changed. And I don't think the outcome of Sunday's game,
Starting point is 01:17:45 win or lose, is going to change that sort of timetable. for the Dallas Cowboys. They'll decide on Jason Garrett sometime in the new year. By the way, it's very hard for GMs who roll the dice, move up to take a quarterback to move off him. In Chicago, it's not working. I mean, the optics are bad. Do you think Ryan Pace the GM of Chicago can swallow hard and just say,
Starting point is 01:18:13 I whiffed, it's hard. It is really hard for guys to admit they're wrong. GMs are public figures. But Peter, this roster's too good. The optics are, Sunday night was just bad. I mean, the question, Colin, is going to be this. If the Chicago Bears have, and I'll pull a number out, if they have the seventh pick in the draft,
Starting point is 01:18:37 are they going to be able to avoid with the defense that they have? Are they going to be able to avoid picking a quarterback, knowing that it would be admitting how wrong you were after only three years? and I think progressive-looking organizations would do that. Now, let's wait till the end of the year. Let's see where they are. And let's make sure that all of a sudden, some magic wand doesn't whack Mitchell Turbisky in the head.
Starting point is 01:19:08 But it appears, it appears, as though he's not going to be anybody's long-term quarterback in the future. And I believe, Colin, that if Chase Daniels, had shown anything in his couple of trials so far in Chicago, he'd be the quarterback right now, but he hasn't played well enough for them to basically throw the baby out with the bathwater to get rid of Mitchell Trubisky. That's why I think Trubisky is still going to get his job back whenever his hip is okay. By the way, I'm going to throw this out to you, a final question. I don't think the market for Teddy Bridgewater will be huge, but I think Carolina
Starting point is 01:19:50 could absolutely make an argument. You know the division, you know the Saints, you know the defenses, you're kind of the opposite of those CAM qualities that drive us nuts. You're accurate, you're not distracted, you're a grown-up, you've been able to learn offenses virtually overnight everywhere you go, stable coach and Ron Rivera. I don't think the market for Bridgewater's big, but I think Carolina feels like the fit to me if you are moving off camp.
Starting point is 01:20:18 Any thought about that? Carolina, Chicago and Denver right now would be in some order my top three for Teddy Bridgewater. You know, the very interesting point about the Carolina Panthers is that if they do not bring Cam Newton back, they have $19.1 million to spend six months ago they never thought they would have. So they have the ability, even though they weren't planning to do this, they have the ability to go and bring in a guy like Bridgewater, sign them to maybe a three-year contract, I'd pick a number, 16 million a year plus incentives. He would fit right into the Cam Newton salary slot for now. And while the cap is going to go up, the cap this year is 188. It'll probably be almost 200 million next year. The cap will be going
Starting point is 01:21:13 up, let's say, five or six percent. And yet you will be able to take that dedicated slot where Cam Newton's money was going to reside. And you can give that slot to a healthy quarterback who you believe could be your long-term guy. I think it's smart, but I also think that there's going to be other teams in the market for him, Colin. By the way, Norv Turner was with Teddy in Minnesota. Norv Turner is now in Carolina. Just to add to that, Peter King NBC Sports. Good talking to you, Peter. Thank you, Colin. You bet. Cam drives me nuts. I like Teddy Bridgewater, though. Cam can drive me nuts. Teddy learns a playbook, two places. Boom, instant.
Starting point is 01:21:53 Bring him in. Christian McCaffrey, those receivers, knows the division. Joy with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, when the Packers traveled to L.A. to play the Chargers week nine, they left Green Bay two days before the game, and then they suffered an embarrassing 26 to 11 loss. Potty time. A little bit. After the game, Aaron Rogers questioned the teams.
Starting point is 01:22:17 decision to leave early saying he didn't think that players were in the right place mentally. We had Mercedes-Lewis on. He kind of also confirmed that that might have had something to do with it. The team got a little loose. Not everybody gets caught up in L.A., but it is L.A., and some people have never been to L.A. and want to see what's going on. Now, again, L.A. everything closes here around like 1.30. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:42 It technically closes it, too, but they kick you out at 1.30. Yeah. So Miami seems like a more bigger place to get in trouble. Oh, Miami's way better party town than L.A. Well, I think closes there. The clubs don't literally close until four. Some of them stay are literally 24 hours. Anyway, regardless.
Starting point is 01:22:57 The Packers are making another trip to California this weekend to face the 49ers. And Matt LaFloris, the team will go back to leaving the day before the game and head west on Saturday. So even though, you know, the Bay isn't quite known for partying the way L.A. is. I don't think the Bay is a party area at all. I mean, I love the Bay, but I don't think of parties when I think of the Bay. But anyway, so they left on Friday last trip. They're leaving on Saturday. The 49ers are favored by three in this game.
Starting point is 01:23:26 So this is a very, very important game. And it's going to be one of the best games of the weekend. Yes. But they are changing their travel plans up a little bit. You know who's going to have an incredible advantage, home field advantage next year? Who? The Raiders. I mean, forget it.
Starting point is 01:23:43 Oh, my God. Everybody's going to be partying. I mean, you should get in at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Literally go to bed. Go to bed. You can have dinner and go to bed. That's going to be. That's going to be a great NFL city.
Starting point is 01:23:57 Oh, God. I mean, nothing that gets Oakland, but in Oakland's been kind of a lame, felt lame duck for years. Vegas is going to, hockey's working in Vegas. I know the NFL is going to work. Oh, there's nothing going to work. I'm very excited to see what that stadium is like, because obviously everything in Vegas is top of the line. Yes. print money there. So the stadium's going to be
Starting point is 01:24:15 an incredible facility. I've seen it six times. The only thing you said is there's no parking. No parking. You just have to hitchhike to the stadium, watch the game and hitchhike. Well, I mean, it's going to be a new stadium. So I'm imagining that all these new stadiums are going to have very well constructed ride-sharing lanes and stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:24:31 Because, I mean, you have to imagine that's how most people are going to get to the stadium. There's no parking. I literally stayed a hotel, Mandalay Bay across the street. There's no parking. You couldn't park 30 buses there. I don't even understand it. I mean, I've never gone to LA, I mean to Vegas with a car. I've never come home with any money.
Starting point is 01:24:51 Well, the Jets had a rough start to the season with Sam Darnold missing time with Mono, but they've started to kind of turn things around the last three weeks. And according to Athletic, it all started with a meeting between Donald and Adam Gase. Donald reportedly went to Gase to discuss everything that he liked and disliked about the offense to go over the playbook. Adam Gase said it's about damn time that we did this. And his first three games back from Mono, Donald only had a 58.5 completion percentage with 642 yards, four touchdowns, and eight interceptions. But in the three games since they're meeting, the team is two and one. And Donald has improved to 65% completion percentage with 783 yards, seven total touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Starting point is 01:25:32 Yeah, he played really, really, like he's had the last two weeks, he's had two awful interceptions, but played really, really well the rest of the game. Well, you know, he has had those bad interceptions. but also he's still very young. So I expect that from young quarterbacks. He was the youngest quarterback to come in the draft, and he started 15, 16 games. He's a kid. Yeah, he missed part of the season.
Starting point is 01:25:53 Lamar Jackson starts three years. Baker Mayfield starts multiple years. These Kyler Murray and Sam Darnolds, they're still figuring out how to do this. Yeah, and they play the Raiders on Sunday, which will be a very good game. Finally, the Bengals dropped to 0-10 last weekend and are officially eliminated from the playoffs.
Starting point is 01:26:09 Week 11 is the earliest a team has been knocked out of playoffs since at least 2002. But one Bengals fan is still praying for that first win. Jeff Lanham made an agreement with his wife, and she went on television and told everyone that before week five, if Cincinnati lost Arizona that weekend, he would live on the roof of the restaurant until they got a win. And, of course, the Bengals have continued to keep losing.
Starting point is 01:26:30 And he has kept his word. He is still living on the roof of a sports bar, very well-known sports bar in the Cincinnati area. He comes down only to use the restroom and shout. hour. His wife visits him. Icky Woods visited him, so that was very nice. This is just a bad, that's bad judgment. That's not a good choice. No, he's clearly a
Starting point is 01:26:52 hardcore fan. Basically, he told his wife, like, I'm going to live on the roof, and then she put it out there, and you put it out there on Facebook, and then they told the news. They play the Steelers this Sunday, their six and a half point dogs. Actually, isn't that many boys. They were tough against them. I watched the Raider game. They played the Raiders tough. And they don't know if Juju is going to be back, because obviously he had the concussion and the knee issue, but get him down.
Starting point is 01:27:11 You know, get them down off the roof, guys. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Line News. The former Raider and Giant Rashad Jennings. Always a great guest in studio. Coming up next, upgrade your wiper blades.

He's got another book out. The If in Life, by the way, was a New York Times bestseller. This is a children's book. At a Liberty, he played for the Giants. He played for the Radas.
Starting point is 01:30:57 So Dallas is a seven-point dog, six and a half point dog with all those players against the New England team that has no ability to throw the ball over the top. What do you make of Dallas? What is Vegas saying? What do you make of what the world of football is saying? there. Well, I mean, Dallas, Dallas is an interesting team. They're good. They can play. They got weapons all over the place. I say, I don't, not, I don't know if this is a disrespect or a compliment, but I see them almost being a watered down version of the Kansas City Chiefs. When you look at,
Starting point is 01:31:30 you look at the weapons that Kansas City has. I mean, they got them all over the place. At any moment, anytime somebody can score a touchdown. Same thing when you look at Dallas, they got coop, they got cop, they got Gallup. They got Gallup. They got Gallup. They got Gallup. Speedy Gallup, he's developed it to his old play. But Gallup's not Tyree Kill, and Dax's not Mahomes. Dax's not Mahomes. Then Kelsey, obviously Kelsey is in the league of his own, but when you look at Whitney, what he's able to do, being consistent,
Starting point is 01:31:54 that tight end he can count on is a water. Like I said, just a little bit watered down version. And by the way, Jason Garrett's not quite Andy Reid. He's not Andy Reid, but he compliments because he has Zeke Elliott. So when you have Zeke and Garrett versus Andy Reid, it kind of evens itself out. So these two teams that I feel a very simple. You know, we said this a couple weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:32:15 You know, you're trying to find, for years and years, last two or three, we've kind of said, why can't the Cowboys win? What's the ceiling? And a lot of people said DAC was the ceiling. Clearly, Dak's not the ceiling. Dax having a great year. He's up. He's getting better as a player, like most young quarterbacks do. Jimmy Garoppolo's better today than he was two years ago.
Starting point is 01:32:33 Jason Garrett, to me, is the ceiling. And I like Jason, but he doesn't feel special. If he goes up against the Belichick Sunday and Andy Reid, a shirt. Sean Payton. I don't think he's special. Your thoughts about how will DAC, though, handle the Foxboro, the weather, the best secondary in the league,
Starting point is 01:32:52 Belichick's brain, what do you make of that match up? I think he's going to gobble this one up. I think he's looking forward to this one. I think this probably was dotted on his calendar when they go into town and play them. And to be very honest, I think this is going to answer all the questions,
Starting point is 01:33:08 should he be paid? 36 million. Should he be paid to $36 million? as a quarterback in the NFL. It's going to get answered, I believe, going against the best secondary, going into Foxborough, big game. And people are going to question, people are already wondering what type of team is Dallas. They've only beat, well, not only, they've beaten teams. They're bad teams.
Starting point is 01:33:26 That are not even over 500. Detroit. Right. They beat Detroit. They beat Miami. They lost, though, to the Jets. Well, I think the questions about, the questions about Dallas are well-founded. I'd like to see him play a great team and win.
Starting point is 01:33:43 Yeah. And I'd like to see him, you know, Green Bay beats him up, New Orleans beats him, Minnesota beats him. These primetime games, that's why we criticize Kurt Cousins. And they win the game, though. They're in every game. I don't, Dak never, I think Dak will play very well Sunday. Yeah. I'm a fan of him.
Starting point is 01:34:00 I hope he plays well. He's on my fantasy team. So he got to go out there and ball out. Okay, you're a former Raider. When you were with the Raiders, if I recall, they were a little bit of a mess. They weren't. This Raider team, I thought was going to be a mess. They're a different culture. It's a different franchise from their fan base.
Starting point is 01:34:19 Are you shocked by what they're doing? Right now, they wouldn't make the playoffs, but they feel like a playoff team to me. Yeah, their spirit and morale is completely different from when I was part of the organization. They're staple to know who their quarterback is. They, man, I really believe that Jacobs has outperformed what they thought he was. was going to do as a rookie. Josh, yeah. Yeah, that's, that's, that's,
Starting point is 01:34:42 enable them to produce so much more as a team. Waller, their tight end is outstanding. The addition of Williams has been great. You know, I don't think they miss. Mayock is doing a good job over there of bringing in talent. If you had to vote an executive of the year, Mike Mayock would win it. Yeah. Every single offensive piece is worse.
Starting point is 01:35:03 Yeah. Even they're a tight, they got a tight end in the fifth round, Hunter Renfro, Richie Incognito can drive people. nuts, but he may be the best guard in the league. That's what PFF says. Yeah. So I'm shocked by it. You know, it's funny.
Starting point is 01:35:17 Gruden's old school, but, you know, players don't mind old school. You know what? People, so the old school approach I find personally, my experience in the NFL is that players actually appreciate that. When I was with Tom Coughlin, loved them. Everybody. I sincerely, everybody enjoyed them, appreciated them. You knew what you was going to get.
Starting point is 01:35:38 We knew all the clocks for five minutes. ahead of time. Like, it's consistency. You evaluate people off what they're consistent with. And if you're old school, you know what you're getting. If you're new school, it's wavering. You don't know. So Kaufflin would bark at you, but it was endearing.
Starting point is 01:35:53 Yes. Yeah, you actually look for it. It was like, man, he ain't given me a good piss today. He might have something going on. Like, he didn't jump down. You know, so you appreciate that as an athlete and as a player. If you're the Chargers this morning, Philip four picks. And my theory is they're moving to a new.
Starting point is 01:36:10 stadium. They don't have any juice at quarterback. Two is going to fall in the draft. And the chargers have the pieces, two good running backs, two good pass rushers, two good receivers, two good corners. They could call up a Jets and say, we'll give you our second best corner. You give us your five pick. I think, I really believe this. In Los Angeles, the clippers don't get Kauai. They disappear behind LeBron. No doubt. I mean, the USC football now is invisible. You got to go get a guy. I think two is the guy. I would move off, Philip. And I like Philip, but come on, he's older, he's unathletic. Every team that's moved off old and athletic guy today is happy.
Starting point is 01:36:48 Everybody said, well, those other than the ones that had to. So you got, so who came in with River Rivers, Mani, him with Eli, and Big Ben. Big Ben, at the beginning of the year, got hurt, so they had to move. I think their fans are screaming for him to come back. Maybe, maybe not. Well, that's because you don't have a good. backup, but Tua would be a legitimate star potential in the NFL. Right.
Starting point is 01:37:17 It's hit or miss. But I think you do go get a quarterback because even if it's not, even if he's not primed and ready, you take hacking. What's my man over there with the Redskins? Dwayne Haskins. Yeah, he had to jump in a little bit premature. They didn't want him to yet. So I think it's that type of situation because Rivers can play ball.
Starting point is 01:37:36 Yes, he's had two bad games back to back. he's questionable in certain decision-making. But I like him overall. I don't think it's time for him to can it yet. Were you one of those that was still defending Eli to the end? Because the Giants have a lot more pop with Daniel. Yeah. So Eli, so I honestly, I still feel like they set him down a little bit too quick.
Starting point is 01:37:59 And you're patient. Yes. You are way more patient than me. It was, yeah, when you look at the games and how things happen, now obviously, that's not a, knock to anything that Daniel Jones has been able to produce as a rookie. I think is outstanding. You're going to the wall for two more years with Philip.
Starting point is 01:38:16 Yes, with Phillips. Yes, I'm going to the wall. I'm riding him out. He hasn't shown me enough that he is incapable of leading us to the playoffs in fighting for a championship. He hasn't shown anything that says no. There are some questionable things where you don't want to get to the point where you're ready to pull a trigger so quick
Starting point is 01:38:35 because of somebody's age and because of too bad You got to draft a quarterback, though. I would draft a quarterback for sure. Definitely would do that. If you got an opportunity to trade and get somebody you really like, and then you've got to figure out if you're going to pay Gordon, you know, what is that situation going to look like? There's another way.
Starting point is 01:38:53 That's another reason I could move to Tua. Then I could pay Gordon. Yeah. I'm not paying two. If I draft two of 14th, I'm not paying my quarterback anything. All right, we've got to go, Rashad Jennings. Great C&U. By the way, the child's book, once again, it's called.
Starting point is 01:39:04 You wrote this one, the Arcade, the Golden Travel Guide. You wrote this a while back. Yeah. So that's the second book of this series and two more again come out next year. Guys, don't use your girlfriend's hair products. Get your own Dove Men Plus Care. Available at Walmart, hour three coming up. Starting point is 01:39:27 FS1 and the IHard Radio app. Get your own shampoo, guys. Dove Men Plus Care. Stop borrowing your girlfriends. Available at Walmart. Dub men plus care. Reggie Bush joining us, 11 years in the NFL. Number two, Drapick by the same.
Starting point is 01:39:38 Two-hour edition of Big Noon kickoff this week. Ohio State, Penn State. I like Ohio State by a couple of touchdowns. Let's start with the Tua stuff. I think he does drop a few spots. I think Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow are such good prospects, without an injury history, both good throwers, both athletic. I think if it was an average quarterback class, Tua would remain number one.
Starting point is 01:40:00 But I think if you start sliding them up and you're like, take the guys who haven't had the health issues. But I still think, I said before, I still think Tua is a. a really high-end guy. I think a team like the Chargers could use some juice at quarterback. I would love to see them go after Cam or Tua. I think they'd prefer to start over with Tua. What do you make of the injury?
Starting point is 01:40:19 You know the NFL. You know how executives. Reggie Bush turns an ankle. Well, he's not Reggie Bush. They look at injuries as a humongous negative. They do. What do you make his injury and his future? Well, I think this injury could be one of those injuries that changes college football.
Starting point is 01:40:36 just in the way it had happened. Obviously, we saw the video of him kind of getting Nick Saban to keep him on the field to go through that two-minute situation and then the result of being injured and the rest is history. And so I think there can be some changes probably coming down in a pipeline. Also, I don't really see the benefit of him coming back to college football. What's the point of him to ever come back to play? No, no benefit. I know this is probably not the way he wanted to end it, but there's a lot of,
Starting point is 01:41:06 more for you in the NFL, right? And so I think if it's going to affect his draft status for sure, it has to, because of the injury is so significant. But it could work out in his favor because then he doesn't go to the worst team in the NFL. Like you just said, maybe he goes. Those chargers, Carolina. Yeah. Like somewhere where they already have talent, they have weapons, and you can go in and win. You start looking at those teams that are drafting 11 to 19 and you get a lot of Melvin Gordons, Christian McCaffrey's. You really, I said this, if Tewel was my son, I would never say this publicly. But I'd be like, listen, you're way better off.
Starting point is 01:41:46 Because nobody makes their money in the NFL in their first contract. Nobody, nobody. Quarterbacks now with the new CBA, the Jamarcus Russell was the last terrible contract. Now you make your money second, third, fourth contract. Exactly. Exactly. So he has time on his side. He has time to heal up to get better.
Starting point is 01:42:02 already, we did a breakdown of him on our college football show. He has the quickest release of all the quarterbacks. That ball is not in his hands longer than about two seconds. And so, you know, that that's the thing that NFL coaches, executives, gyms are looking at and are excited about because on top of the quick release, he's also very accurate. Oh, he's insanely accurate. And he also is a leader. He's a true leader. Obviously, the way he stepped in and took this job tells you a lot about his character, his drive, and his determination. And then in an LSU game, he's playing on one foot and he still carved him up for 400 yards past. I said this before.
Starting point is 01:42:39 Joey and I both have said with two, I don't know. The LSU game, I was like, okay, I'm done. 60% carving, carving them up. He made a throw to the corner of the end zone. It was only about an 18-yard throw. But I'm looking at it. I'm like, oh, my God, the window was a keyhole. It was tiny.
Starting point is 01:42:56 Very tight. With an NFL, with a Bama NFL. with an LSU NFL corner, tiny little box window, boom. That's all you got. Now, I'm going to go. So tonight college football on Tuesday nights, they give out their rankings, and then Clatt and I tomorrow argue. Here are my predictions for the top six.
Starting point is 01:43:13 I think Ohio State's the best team in the country. Do you agree or disagree? I agree. I agree. Okay. After seeing how LSU's defense has played these last two weeks, I agree with you. It's awful. They have not been good.
Starting point is 01:43:22 Their run defense is terrible. I'd put Clemson 2, LSU. In the history of college football, I do not remember a team. with this bat of a defense winning a national title and LSU's defense. So I think Ohio State won Clemson 2, LSU.
Starting point is 01:43:36 Georgia just beat Auburn, so I put them over Oregon at 5. They have to be. You have to be. You have to be. And then I put Utah. So I think the PAC 10 is, PAC 12 is a little better than people think.
Starting point is 01:43:45 SEC is still number one conference. But I will say this. There's no way I can put, BAM is done. And I'll tell you for two reasons. I bang on teams for out of conference schedules because that's what the coach controls. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 01:43:59 Oregon scheduled Auburn. Nick Saban scheduled Duke. Okay. And Oregon didn't get a host Auburn. They went to a neutral site where it's 70, 30 Auburn fans. They lost. That's fine. But now, Bama has a loss.
Starting point is 01:44:14 It's the only good team they've played so far. Two was not there. And years ago, Cincinnati bearcats were really good. And they were like 29 and 3. And Kenyon Martin broke his leg. Yeah. And the committee, Reggie, said, no, you're not a number one.
Starting point is 01:44:30 Yeah, they backed them, they dropped them, right? They said, you're a number, you're a number two seat, and they lost in the second round. And what the, what the, and I remember defending on the air, I said, this is who Cincinnati is now. I'm seating you without Kenyon Martin. Yeah. You're not a one.
Starting point is 01:44:47 Okay, two is gone. Yeah. Bama's not a top 16 without him. Yeah, and I struggled with this when we were doing our college football playoff rankings because on one end, you know, that Alabama's not going to be the same team. They already weren't the same team when they had Tua because their defense has been struggling. Right.
Starting point is 01:45:06 Right. And so now what are they going to look like without him? Because he was the secret sauce. He was that special power to this Alabama team because he's even changed Nick Sabins kind of the way he coaches the game, right? They used to be a run first team, run first heavy team. Now they're a passing team because of Tua. And so it's completely changed the dynamic of this Alabama team,
Starting point is 01:45:32 or at least the way that we've kind of viewed them over the last couple of years. But now, without Tua, I mean, they're just a team now. They're a good football team. Yeah, they're a good football team. But they're not special. No, no. I wouldn't. Well, Jerry Judy's special.
Starting point is 01:45:45 They got some special players, but even Jerry Judy against LSU struggled a little bit. By the way, listen, the SEC is probably the best conference. But the bottom of the SEC with Arkansas in Kentucky is gross. It's awful. They've expanded so much now. They've got four or five terrible teams at the bottom. And the best team at the top, LSU, plays no defense. So it's not one of these years where I go to the third best team in the SEC or maybe
Starting point is 01:46:11 the fourth and you're like, wow, that's Auburn can't move the ball much. Georgia can't throw it over the top. Bama's on a backup quarterback and LSU's defense stinks. So I can't, I just don't buy into the SEC so much better. You've got to put Bama in the conversation. If I'm Ohio State and I'm Clemsing, especially Clemson, Like nobody is talking about Clemson right now. And they're slowly getting better and better and better.
Starting point is 01:46:35 And they're playing defense. They're playing offense. To me, the most complete teams right now in the top four, Ohio State and Clemson. Yeah, I agree with that. Yeah. Let's go to an NFL topic. So this is Jerry Jones. This is funny.
Starting point is 01:46:48 So Jerry was on a Dallas radio station. Bill Belichick got fired years ago in Cleveland. And Jerry Jones was out skiing. And he bumped. This just must drive Cowboy fans crazy with Jason Garrett. And so Jerry bumped into Belichick at a ski resort. Listen to this. I was skiing after our season was over.
Starting point is 01:47:08 The Cowboy season was over. And I was renting skis for my grandkids. And there was a line. And somebody bumps up against me a few times. And I turn around. And there was this guy that couldn't make of him because he had his ski stuff on and goggles. And it was Bill. And, of course, he no longer had a job.
Starting point is 01:47:25 He had been with Cleveland. And they'd let him go up there. He said, boy, listen, said, I can coach. Said if you ever get an opportunity, don't forget about me. I've thought about that many times. You never know when you can find a great coach. So they play Belichick on Sunday. Should I kept that story to himself.
Starting point is 01:47:43 I was going to say, that's one of those. You keep to yourself. You keep to yourself. You don't tell that to the world. It's funny about Dallas. Dallas, New England. Do you give Dallas a shot at New England, Foxborough, 22 degrees? No, I think, and listen, I like Dallas.
Starting point is 01:48:00 I like what they've done. I'm not a Dallas hater. I don't know. Whatever reason, anytime you say something negative about the Cowboys, you'd be somehow you're this Dallas hater. But Tom Brady in November and December, he does not lose at home. He just doesn't happen.
Starting point is 01:48:14 They figure out a way to get better as the season grows deeper into November and December. And that's the time where they're at their best, where when people are freezing, cold on the football field. And I mean, all players, it seems like Tom Brady still can find ways to generate production throwing a football. This team gets better.
Starting point is 01:48:39 They have a great defense. They're getting their left tackle, Isaiah, win back. It's just hard. I've been there. I've lived it. I've tried to go beat them in November and December. I've seen other teams try to do it as well. Nobody has success in Gillette Stadium in November.
Starting point is 01:48:56 and it's very hard to beat them. Very hard. And this is not a knock on the Cowboys. This is just more about what the Patriots do and how smart they have and just the total package that you get with them. They won above the shoulders on Sunday. They don't have much of an offense.
Starting point is 01:49:08 Yeah, they've squeezed by the Detroit Lions. They squeezed by Philadelphia. This is what they do. This is kind of the New England. Last year at this time, they were losing to Tennessee and looked awful. Reggie Bush. By the way, before I get the joy,
Starting point is 01:49:22 go further than ever. Discover at Milescar. Discover.com. They double your miles first year. New card members only. Thank you, Reggie Bush. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:49:31 Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, in very unpatriot-like fashion, the Browns are continuing to talk about what happened last week, but they do that every week, so I don't know why that's new. Plenty of suspensions and fines came down after the fight with the Browns and the Steelers on Thursday night, but Brown's defensive tackle,
Starting point is 01:49:49 Shelton Richardson was very unhappy that Mason Rudolph was not one of the players who received a suspension. He said, you can't antagonize a fight and then claim bullying. You get what's coming to you. Garrett was protecting himself. I don't blame him. Guys keep rushing me. Even with the helmet off, he's asking for it.
Starting point is 01:50:08 Just leave it at that. So not really the statement you want to give when we've finally all kind of collectively moved on from that. By the way, without Miles Garrett, it's not the same defense. I mean, let's just be honest about it. Miles Garrett's easily their best defensive player. and they're good i mean so we can talk about this helmet thing the cleveland browns who have been penalized heavily and are inconsistent offensively just lost a star a calil mac of the afc they're not making the playoffs seasons over they well we said this before the season started if the
Starting point is 01:50:40 browns don't make the playoffs this is a colossal failure yes based off of the talent that they have this season the expectations that they brought into the season yeah this this is a failure if they don't make the playoffs which they which they're not going to and now they don't have Garrett and their team is still talking about it and making excuses for what happened. There's no excuse for what happened. Doesn't matter if you think Mason Rudolph should be suspended or not. I think he should be. I think he antagonized the situation.
Starting point is 01:51:04 I think he looked silly putting his hands up afterwards after running after Miles Garrett. But regardless, he didn't hit Miles Garrett in the head with a helmet. We've seen those fights every single week. They don't escalate to the point where someone has hit over the top of the head with their helmet. We know how that could have gone. It could have gone much worse than it did and it was already awful. to me, the Cleveland Browns, other than their obvious lack of culture, and I hate to put it on him because it's really, I really don't think it is his fault because of the culture there. This is, to me, is a reflection of Freddie Kitchens.
Starting point is 01:51:35 Because if you really have a respect for the person that's running the organization, you have something in the back of your mind where you're like, I can't do this. No matter how angry I get, I cannot allow myself to lose control. And there's fights all the time. There's skirmisters every single game. They never escalate to this point. When someone with like power and control walks in the room, you sit up a little straighter, you know, you straighten your tie. It's no question.
Starting point is 01:52:04 It's just a mental and it's an energy that they bring to the room where you know I can't, even if I'm not the kind of person that wants to get away with stuff, I now really don't want to try and do that. The bottom line with most bosses and a head coach is a boss. you should fear them 10%. I think people like Freddie Kitchens. I don't think anybody fears Freddie Kitchens because I don't think anybody thinks he has the power.
Starting point is 01:52:29 That's why you have John Dorsey, you need to give your coach power. Yes. And when your coach has power, then the players have to get in life. That's a good thing. Yes, you want, and I think by hiring Freddie Kitchens,
Starting point is 01:52:41 what you're saying is John Dorsey's saying, I have the power, he's a puppet for me, and you can see it with the penalties. It's not like Cleveland has dumb players. They just have players. players. It's just a lack of discipline.
Starting point is 01:52:53 And that comes from the top to the bottom. Like, that's just how it works. Nice is fine. Okay. Nice is great. Yes. But in business and when you're trying to be successful and win, nice is overrated.
Starting point is 01:53:04 I'll take competent. Yeah, Sean McVeigh's nice, but he's got power in the organization. And they've given him power in the organization. And Freddie's never had it. And I think he's learning on the job. He's got no power. The players can smell it.
Starting point is 01:53:18 And that's what you get. We've all worked at a place where, the person in charge is like doesn't have it together, right? And even if you are a respectable person and you like value your job and take pride in what you do, you can't help it. You can't help it because that's the energy that's around you. That is what I think is happening with the Browns. So the Panthers of a losing record 13 and 14 since David Tepper took over the team in 2018.
Starting point is 01:53:38 He bought the team. Carolina now has lost three of their last four games this year. And Tepper reportedly told Charlotte Media that he's extremely frustrated with losing and won't accept long term mediocrity. He doesn't want to make a decision on cams. future until he's fully healthy, but he said it would be ideal for Cam to return and lead the Panthers to a Super Bowl victory one day. Pepper's also pleased with Kyle Allen's performance so far saying he's exceeded expectations
Starting point is 01:54:00 since filling in for noon. I will agree with that. Kyle Allen has been struggling over the last couple weeks, but he did exceed expectations. What does that mean? It means we had no expectations and he won some games. I mean, all I know with Kyle Allen, that's not my future. Congrats on exceeding expectations. We know that.
Starting point is 01:54:19 Nothing to me. Yes, we know that. We know that. But I don't know. I think like the vibe that I'm getting from Carolina is that it doesn't really seem like the fans in the media there want to move on from Cam. And I don't know if that's just a defense mechanism. Or that it feels like the media is attacking Carolina. People didn't want to move off.
Starting point is 01:54:38 They did not want to move off Tebow in Denver. And Elway sensed it. And Elway said, I'm going to bring in a rock star or something. So they have to. So he brought in Peyton Manning. Everybody went, oh, we went. Payton Manning. If you're going to let go
Starting point is 01:54:51 at Cam, you either have to move up and get a quarterback in the draft because hope sells. It wins elections. It wins presidential elections. It wins. Or, and Teddy Bridgewater is not a rock star. Philip Rivers, you can't just say,
Starting point is 01:55:03 we're getting rid of camp. We don't have an answer. Because that's when you get blowback. But when you have one of those press conferences where you go, we had a great time. And the next guy is, then people, you can move them off Tebow very quickly with an hour later.
Starting point is 01:55:16 It's like, but Peyton's coming. Because I don't think what you want to let go of Cam and not have an answer. Right. And that's the problem. And that's why it's starting to look like, okay, maybe we didn't really want to move off Cam because now you're seeing what's happening with Kyle Allen. So yeah, you do have to have an answer if you're going to move off of him. Finally, Luca Donchich continued his incredible sophomore season last night.
Starting point is 01:55:36 Career high, 42 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists in the Mavericks 11, 110 win over the Spurs. At 20 years and 263 days old, that sign sign makes Luca the second youngest player to record a 40-point triple double. Youngest is LeBron, who did that at 20 years and 100 days old. So just a little slightly older. And he's a natural score. Does everybody get, if this kid
Starting point is 01:56:00 barring an injury is going to end up a top five NBA score? I mean, he's like, he's just a kid that's going to score. This is a 27 point of game guy. A lot of these scoring records are not 63 a night. It's just you keep adding 27 every night. He's not, I mean, it's very early
Starting point is 01:56:16 in the season, so I'm not going to start the MVP. Whatever, I will start the MVP. I mean, he's in the MVP conversation. This is a 30,000 point guy. This is crazy. The way that he, that is 20 years old. Yes. 40 point triple double.
Starting point is 01:56:29 I know you don't love triple doubles, but that is an impressive stat line. But to me, it's the points. He's just, he's a tough matchup. He's long. 12 assists too? Yeah, he's really, he's really. I mean, he's a star. And he's got an array, too.
Starting point is 01:56:41 He's got a little baby hooked there. He's got the stepback move. You know what I like about Luca? Lucas's got a little He got a little dog to him Oh no, no, he's a talker. He's got some swag. He's a talker and he's tough. He plays downhill.
Starting point is 01:56:55 He does remind me of LeBron in a lot of ways. Obviously, he's not as big. He's a big, six, seven. He is a long six seven. He's a star. Yeah. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news.
Starting point is 01:57:07 And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Lie News. Dack Prescott. Boy, you know, Dack plays the Patriots this weekend. people don't understand this. Tom Brady came out yesterday, talked about, listen, people like us,
Starting point is 01:57:19 but we're not America's team. Dallas is America's team. You know, think about here. If I was Dak Prescott's agent, and I would say this. So before Dak got there, Tony got hurt, you were a mess.
Starting point is 01:57:34 You've paid me nothing, and I've won two divisions. You can make an argument because the Dallas Cowboys are the number one brand in the world for sports. How much money did Dak Prescott make Jerry Jones the last four years? Conservative estimate, $250 million.
Starting point is 01:57:56 Conservative. I'm talking games on television, merchandise sold, global relevance, sweet sold. Like when the Cowboys are winning games, Dallas, Jerry Jones, his businesses all go up. So, you know, and I know nobody wants to hear this because the salary cap. But you've got to come to terms of this. Dax getting over 35. And I think he's really emerged in this season. All the numbers are going up.
Starting point is 01:58:23 As long as you give him a good left tackle and a couple of weapons, I don't think Zeek's nearly as valuable as everybody says. I think Zeek's good. I think Tyron Smith left tackling Amari and Randall Cobb are just as valuable or more valuable. But for anybody that wonders, if you came, let's say you work for a company, IBM, Apple, Google, that had a massive market share. and the company was a little distressed, you walk in, and you make nothing for three years, and you can make an argument, you kind of save the brand.
Starting point is 01:58:52 That's what the Cowboys are. It's a 10, I mean, if you put the Cowboys on the market today and the economy was good, you could sell it for $10 billion. Easily. Yeah, with a B. With a B. So what is Dakworth, if you've paid him nothing and he saved? Now, I'm not saying the brand would have disappeared, but it would have eroded because the year
Starting point is 01:59:13 Tony Romo got hurt. It was a disaster. It was a disaster. It's not like people were flexing out of cowboy games, but you just wouldn't put them on this game. I mean, we know the guy that Katz, Goodell's best friend, you know, the guy that makes all the games in the NFL,
Starting point is 01:59:28 you're just trying to get the cowboys on as much as possible. But, you know, a four and 12 cowboy team, there's just too many Aaron Rogers, Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson's. There's just too many teams you can put on, too many Drew Brees. So the whole thing about DAC and the money thing,
Starting point is 01:59:42 he has probably made Jerry $250 million. And they haven't paid him. He's made nothing. Think about this. Doesn't it all balance out? I mean, we know Russell Wilson has made the Allen family $500 million. I mean, the Seahawks were just a nothing brand. They're now a national brand.
Starting point is 02:00:05 There was an argument to me made. They were the fourth most popular team in the league for about four years when they had Legion of Doom. So he's made them. Hawks could sell today. What was LeBronworth to Dan Gilbert when he came back to Cleveland? They literally went up $500 million worth. And by the way, I read something about a year ago.
Starting point is 02:00:21 The only team that's gone down in value in the NBA in the last five years is Cleveland after LeBron left this last time. They think they went down a couple hundred million dollars. So, DAC is, DAC has made Jerry a bloody fortune. And Jerry knows it. He's, he just, I'm not sure there's a player that's made an owner more. Maybe Brady. Over the course of 20 years, Brady's made Bob Kraft a billion dollars.
Starting point is 02:00:45 Coming up, my dream Super Bowl matchup. I'm going to give you seven, because we're getting out of week 11 in the NFL. The seven Super Bowls I'd love to see. In order, that's coming up. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. Feel better with MDrive. Everyday supplement. MDrive for men.com.
Starting point is 02:01:02 Code herd 20% off your first month. Refine your prime with MDrive. Great to have you in. Best for last time. We were thinking about Sunday night. You get New England and Dallas. We're 75 days out as of today. 75 days out from the Super Bowl, which is, of course, on Fox.
Starting point is 02:01:21 And I thought, Joy, what are the six or seven? We thought 75 days seven, my dream Super Bowl matchups. Okay. Because I work at Fox. I want stuff that works for Fox. Yeah, we're company men. Yeah. You can say that.
Starting point is 02:01:38 So we're, you know, we want the company to do well. So here are my seven dream Super Bowl matchups in order. Number seven, Patriot Saints. So I get Breeze and Brady, first and second in career passing yards, second and third in career passing touchdowns. I get Sean Payton, the offensive genius. I get Bill Belichick, the defensive genius. And it just doesn't feel, this feels kind of fresh. We don't have a lot of Brady versus Breeze.
Starting point is 02:02:08 I mean, these are the two elder statesmen in the NFL class. I mean, the record books that someday you'll open up the NFL record book for quarterbacks and it will just breeze Brady, Breeze Brady, Brady, Breeze, Brady, Breeze. How about number six? Patriots Cowboys, folks, do you know the number you'd get for this? America's team against the goat? They play Sunday. It'd be a rematch.
Starting point is 02:02:30 Be really interesting if Dallas won Sunday and they had a rematch. You'd have Jason Garrett. Jason Garrett wins this game. He's the Dallas. cowboy coach for a decade. This would get a massive number. How about number five? Patriot Seahawks.
Starting point is 02:02:45 Do you realize Super Bowl 49 was the most watched TV broadcast of all time? To this day, it still is. A rematch of the Malcolm Butler Interception. Brady against Russell Wilson, my two favorite quarterbacks of all time. That was arguably the great Super Bowl of all time, a rematch. And I'm going to be selfish here. If I can go to Miami and have the Patriots. Riots and Seahawks, my two favorite teams, I could tolerate those fan bases.
Starting point is 02:03:13 Number four, Chiefs Against the Packers, your state farm quarterback battle. Brady Mahomes are considered the two sort of most talented quarterbacks. They played this year, but Mahomes was hurt. You'd have the first year coach against probably the most likable coach in the league without a Super Bowl, Andy Reed. And then you'd have, you know, you got the Mahom factor. where it's like we know he's going to win is this the year the errand factor he's too good to only have one uh that would be special how about number three again patriots and packers we just don't
Starting point is 02:03:50 have enough brady against rogers games they've played twice they've split you got a first year coach against the greatest of all time we kind of got robbed of this matchup in 2016 and 2014 remember green bay losing those games uh packers lost to the falcons and the seahawks so this one feels like this is like the Tyson fight against George Foreman I never got. There were like 30 years, the old foreman and Tyson. I never got it. I was better. I need a Rogers Brady Super Bowl.
Starting point is 02:04:21 How about number two? Patriots Niners. Jimmy G. against his old team. Tom Brady with a quarterback who he got kind of insecure over. Brady against his hometown team. He was a 49er growing up. Richard Sherman against Tom Brady.
Starting point is 02:04:36 You mad, bro. I think this is a pretty easy one. Jimmy G was the heir apparent. Brady said, get him out of here. Jimmy G. comes back and meets Tom. Shanahan, the offensive genius. Belichick, the defensive genius. Pretty tasty.
Starting point is 02:04:53 Number one. Baltimore, Dallas. Lamar and Dak, the future of NFL quarterbacks. The most mobile quarterback maybe ever. Dak, kind of, this is what quarterbacks look. like now. Can throw, can move their leaders. John Harbaugh wins a second Super Bowl. You got to put him in the Pete Carroll. You start putting them in that class of top five coach of all time.
Starting point is 02:05:24 And I think this would be totally new, totally fresh. It would be a polarite because a lot of people don't buy DAC. A lot of people are like Lamar, you can't run around. Would it signal a new NFL where you can't simply have a quarterback who's a spectacular runner and you just go with him as he learns how to be a very, very competent passer. Those are my seven Super Bowls. I know there's a lot of New England in there. I would lose New England 49ers because that feels a lot like New England Rams to me. Look at that. Like the new young quarterback. You have one that doesn't involve the Cowboys or Patriots. I would definitely lose those Patriots 49ers. I don't, I get what you're saying about Garoppolo,
Starting point is 02:06:05 but it just feels like the Rams and Patriots again. Chiefs Cowboys would do an amazing. number. Oh, yeah. That's good. That was my pick at the beginning of the year. Joel Claddle yell at me, Hugh Jackson, C.M. Punk on tomorrow's show. Yeah, we're delivering. That's what we do. See you tomorrow. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet
