This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Well, that was an excellent Sunday night football game.
Division rivals.
They're going to play two games minimum, Burrow and Lamar Jackson for the next 10 years.
And most will end like that.
You know, Lamar Jackson, it's really remarkable.
This is a quality and a pattern in America that's discouraging, but it's true.
People make up their mind on something, and they just are unwilling to change.
It doesn't matter if it's politics or it's sports.
People have made up their mind on Lamar Jackson, and it just doesn't matter what he does.
And here's Lamar Jackson, another game-winning drive.
he's won 75% of his games.
And Lamar Jackson's the only quarterback in the NFL.
He's the only one that's not allowed to win ugly.
I've watched Brady win 25 games ugly.
Mahomes has won ugly.
Burroughs last year Burrow won ugly in playoff games.
Everybody in the league is allowed to win ugly.
And Lamar wasn't terrible tonight, 19 to 32, a touchdown a pick.
He missed a deep ball, really bad miss on a deep ball.
It happens.
I've never thought he's the best, most elegant, refined pocket passer.
But I'll say this about him.
He's a better passer than anybody gives him credit for.
And with his ability to be dynamic with his feet,
it gave him about two to three years to figure out the pocket.
Now the Bengals brought pressure and stunts multiple times.
He picks up the blitzes, and he had a game-winning drive.
But we have decided, not myself, but many people have decided,
Lamar's not my guy.
So all I hear about is, oh, you know, I mean, he missed the open guy. He wins 75% of his games.
And if you told me, they signed him to a five-year deal for $300 million. He makes the playoffs four to five
years. He wins a handful of playoff games. If that's not good enough for you, ask Seattle and Atlanta
and New Orleans and the teams at the bottom of this league, what's it like not to have a quarterback?
If Lamar Jackson is your quarterback, you're in every big game.
And so he remains the only quarterback in the league that is not allowed to win inartistically.
Game winning drive, mostly on his legs.
Love to see it.
So what to do with the Cowboys?
So the Cowboys beat the Rams, and let's be completely honest here.
The Rams are on a third string center.
It's musical chairs with their offensive line outside of right tack.
tackle. Matt Stafford has one receiver that he can consistently throw to. I mean, Alan Robinson,
we've got to be honest here. Was that a terrible move? Was that a terrible trade? Terrible acquisition?
He can't get open. He literally can't get open. But I want to talk about Mike McCarthy.
So Mike McCarthy is one of four coaches in league history that made the playoffs eight straight years.
He has a winning record in the playoffs. He's got a Super Bowl.
And now he's winning with a backup.
Now, they've done studies on this.
Tall, thin, good-looking people, make more money over a lifetime.
He looks like a Milwaukee cab driver.
And Matt LaFleur looks like somebody that should be on the cover of men's health.
But it's funny about Matt LaFleur, the current Green Bay coach.
What are the three or four boxes that we all look for for a great coach?
Situational football.
Green Bay has been terrible situationally and back-to-back years in the playoffs.
second half football, going it at halftime, making change is second half football.
The Packers are a terrible second half team this year.
Basically, they're a one-half offense.
Okay, okay.
Well, at least, at least the people that should be getting the ball for his offense are.
No, Aaron Jones is not getting the ball enough.
And outside of Aaron Rogers, he's the most talented Packer.
So Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys that should be getting the ball are getting the ball.
The Cowboys on the defensive side.
This Cowboy team, the defense is better than we thought.
The Packers' defense is worse than we thought.
The Cowboys run game is better than we thought.
The Packers' run game is inconsistent.
Do I love McCarthy?
No.
But eight straight playoffs, winning record, 62% winner.
I think that's above Bill Parcells.
His passing games in Green Bay and his passing games in Dallas,
Cooper Rush looks rock solid.
He's now winning with a backup.
I think McCarthy will ultimately cost the Cowboys a playoff game.
He'll butcher something at the end of the season.
But part of it with McCarthy, he's not great at a podium.
He's a little lumpy.
You know, he looks like your neighbor.
You know, there is part of that.
in that Dallas is kind of a slick town.
It's America's team.
You know, Tom Landry had the hat.
And there was Ivy League Jason Garrett.
And then there's Jimmy Johnson who has quite, let's be honest, a presence.
It's kind of bumbling Mike McCarthy.
But when you can win with a backup quarterback on the road,
they look fairly buttoned up right now.
Listen, there are teams like Carolina that look.
really poorly coached.
There's teams that look lost.
The Cowboys right now are not one of those teams.
Let's go back to the Packers and the New York Giants.
Now, I know that was the morning game.
Some of you didn't see it in London.
But what's really interesting about Green Bay is I think Aaron Rogers, whether he's right or not, is brutally honest.
And he said earlier this week, winning the way we're winning is not sustainable.
And he is right. Green Bay has become a first half offensive team only. They're fine on script.
But they really, they don't have the experience. There's not the trustability Aaron and his young receivers.
They don't do anything in the second half. And the Giants outplayed him. And I'm going to spend
tomorrow on Fox talking about Green Bay. But here's the best part about Brian Daible, the coach of the New York Giants.
And this is a real thing. So we know what Daibald did to turn around Josh Allen. So I
I don't think Daniel Jones is the answer.
Here's the rule as a fan.
If you spend a lot of time complaining about your offensive line and your receivers,
you don't have a franchise quarterback.
Giant fans spend a lot of time bemoaning and lamenting their wide receivers and no line.
I don't think Daniel Jones is the guy.
But Daible now once as a coordinator and now as a head coach,
he will get the absolute most at a Daniel Jones.
So if you have to move them at some point, you can.
I think what the Giants are doing is a little smoke and mirrors.
It reminds me of Matt Nagy when he got the Bears and Tribisky to the playoffs.
It was just smoking mirrors.
I feel the Giants really are.
But what Daibald is doing, he's letting you see the very best of Daniel Jones.
This is it.
And I think Giant fans would be the first to acknowledge it's pretty limited.
This was a Sequin Barclay game.
I thought this was a really clever coaching game.
It was a goal line stand defense batting down Aaron Rogers game.
But overall, I think if you look at the New York Giants, I always think when you have a bad team, what are the boxes you can check?
It does appear the New York Giants.
Left tackle, check.
Head coach, check.
That's a good start.
Okay, that's a really good start.
Houston's got a left tackle.
Laramie Tunzel.
Coach, not sure.
Quarterback, not sure.
So the Giants appear to have the left tackle and the head coach set.
Defensive line's pretty good.
That's also a box.
You need to check.
But I think that what Daibel does, he gives you the very best you can possibly see from
Daniel Jones.
So if you move off him, you're making the right decision.
by the end of the year you move off Daniel Jones, you know you have squeezed every ounce of talent
possible out of Daniel Jones. One more thought, Matt Rule's going to get fired, coach of Carolina
and Baker Mayfield's washed, blah, blah, blah. But I was sitting there thinking before I came on
tonight, Jimmy Garoppolo should change his last name. He should go to the courts and change his last name
to Jimmy Absolute Dimes. I know that's obnoxious. But here's the thing I love about Garoppolo.
is that we're all looking for the perfect quarterback.
Lamar Jackson runs too much for your taste.
Garoppolo doesn't have a big arm.
Brady doesn't move enough.
Outside of Patrick Mahomes, it doesn't really all come down to this.
Is he good in the room?
Is he decent situationally?
Does he win games?
That team loves Jimmy Garoppolo.
And he got the ball to Brandon Ayyuk.
He got it to seven different receivers.
No interceptions.
You can sit and pick apart all these guys.
Even Mahomes will have these five and six game stretches
where he goes off into the rough mechanically
and they have to bring him back.
He wins.
The team trusts him.
He gets the ball to the right people.
He doesn't turn it over a ton.
He gets you about 250 yards passing.
Say what you want about Jimmy Garoppolo.
But this team, in my opinion,
is the most talented roster in the league.
and all of their offensive pieces, Iyuk, Debo Samuel, George Kittle, all of them are outstanding
after the catch.
Jimmy gets it to them quickly and they do the work.
This is not an offense that you want a quarterback who holds the football or like Aaron
Rogers often does, does his own thing and ad libs.
The coachability, the distribution is so perfect for this football team.
Right now, I'm not so sure the Niners aren't the second best team in the league after Kansas City.
And I think they match up really, really well with Kansas City.
I mean, I know it's Carolina.
They put a complete thumping on that team.
There is no team in the league currently that wins more physically impressive than the 49ers.
All right, Fox Sports, IHeartRadio tomorrow.
