Welcome to the best of the Colin Coward podcast, some great guests this week. We're giving you all the highlights, but first, my takes of the week that was. People not in the media often like to lecture me on how to do media. I mean, I didn't

tell my doctor how to to do my proctology exam. I don't tell a landscaper how to landscape. I don't walk into a restaurant and tell the cook how to cook. They like to say, why do you waste your time on Tebow? And I like to respond, why do you waste your time asking me? I talk Tebow because he's newsworthy. No, he's not. There you go lecturing again. We have a handful of people in news who, whenever they do anything, we talk about it. athletes, politicians, TV stars, singers, and they do something big. Like, return to the NFL, reunite with your legendary college coach who's now coaching in the NFL.

Yeah, that's what we call newsworthy. Listen, when Kanye West said he was running for president and starting an actual campaign, we're going to talk about it because we look at the Google numbers. and you're interested. Jake Paul, YouTuber, I'm going to fight. Then he keeps winning fights. And then his pay-per-view numbers are substantial. That tells us that you're interested. Before Donald Trump ran for president, he was newsworthy. Divorces, controversies, bankruptcies, successes. He wasn't newsworthy? All you conservatives, if it wasn't for the media talking about a candidate nobody gave a shot to, he wouldn't have been president. Do you know that in 2019,

the most Googled person was an athlete? No, it wasn't Tom Brady or Tiger Woods. It was Antonio Brown. When people say Tebow's not going to be a super important player, it's not always the best or most important player that you find newsworthy. In 2015, the most Googled person was an athlete. It wasn't LeBron or Roger Federer, it was Lamar Odom. You made him newsworthy. Newsworthiness is a business, and there are a handful of people out there that drive interest. Virtually nobody can name the fourth tied-in on the Jaguar's Deptart. Most people can only name a handful of people on the entire Jags roster. We all know Tebow, because he's interesting. Don't blame me for talking about him. Blame him. If Tebow had more self-awareness and understood that, you know, leaving a sport for

nearly a decade and then coming back to try a new position is really kind of silly, I wouldn't have talked about him. I was done talking about him. In fact, years ago at the end of his NFL career, I said, he probably should go give the CFL a try. He really fits that style. I was told Tebow laughed at such a suggestion. Don't kid yourself. This is business and this is ego. He's a human being. Humble at times, very much driven by the brand of Tebow, which pays him well other times. Listen, the only reason you're upset that I talk Tebow because you don't like the way it ended. People always say that. I don't like you talking Tebow. Let me ask you, if he'd have made the team, should I have ignored it?

Hmm, interesting. Colin, stick to sports. I always hear that from conservatives, because I tend to kind of lean left on social issues. Stick to sports. And then once I put Will Kane on my podcast, I got nothing but credit. Tip of the cap, my man, loved that podcast.

You like politics from me when you agree with them. I talk Tebow because I find him interesting. I was done talking Tim Tebow. If Tim Tebow never tries to be a pro athlete again, I don't think I'll ever talk about him. But he's interested sometimes in himself and his impractical dreams. When he wants to stop, I'll stop. I watched every single NFL preseason game. And let's just go into the quarterbacks because that's what most of us were drawn to, the quarterbacks.

So for the sake of this rant, let's include Jordan Love in the rookie. quarterbacks, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Trevor Lawrence, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Mack Jones, and Jordan Love since he didn't dress last year. I thought of those six, five had moments of brilliance, and Mack Jones may be in the perfect situation. I don't think he has a terribly high ceiling,

but New England's not going to ask him to do things that the bears are going to ask Justin Fields to do behind a fairly patchwork offensive line. They just brought in Jason Peters, So let's start with Justin Fields. 6.3, 228, size is fine, arms excellent. I think what you're going to see with that offensive line and really limited skill people, after Alan Robinson, you know, it's a bunch of emerging young wide receiver talent.

Cole commets a very good young tight end, but he's a young tight end. They have one running back who got dinged up. They don't have a ton of depth at the skill positions. So they're going to lean on Justin Fields a lot. A source I trust told me that he struggled his first couple of weeks in camp. But over the last week, it's really come around. He's a kid that because he doesn't have a lot of weapons, not a lot of receivers can get themselves open.

He's going to look downfield. And if the first or second option isn't there, he's going to flush out to the right and run a lot. The good news is he'll make a lot of plays. A lot of plays. He looked a little nervous early, but he's a huge talent. And I think he's going to start game one. Tray Lance, I thought he looked as good as any of them.

Not a shock. He's got arguably the best offensive coach and the best roster. That's something. We have to add context to this stuff. I mean, I'll watch Jacksonville play Cleveland. Does Jacksonville have two starters that would start for Cleveland? Does Jacksonville have five starters on their second team that would start for Cleveland? I mean, that's just a total physical mismatch in some of these games.

So, Tray Lance, the Niners have a Super Bowl roster and a Super Bowl. coach. I thought Tray looked great. I also think that offense is complex. He'll continue to grow. I think Garoppolo starts the season. He has a very lively arm, super athletic, great size. I think, you know, he is the one quarterback that I think has a chance to advance in his first year in the playoffs. Tray Lance could be the starting quarterback end of this year and win a playoff game, largely because of what's around him. Listen, veteran quarterbacks need help. Young quarterbacks need more help, but I think Trey Lance is in a perfect situation. He's got playmakers all over the place.

Brandon, Iyuk, Kittle, Trevor Lawrence made two great throws. It's a bad team. It's a complete utter gut job. It is a remodel. It's a rehab. He made two great throws against a far superior roster. Cleveland's got a top three roster in the NFL. Jags got a bottom two roster.

I don't know what to take of it. He looked comfortable. He made a great throw up the sideline. There's not a lot I can say. I think he's going to win about six games. Urban Meyer needs one more draft and one more free agency period to really compete on an even playing field. Zach Wilson, as we suspected, very lively arm and moves well. He does look small.

I think he has the fourth best coach in his division. There have been some comparisons made to Aaron Rogers in the way the ball comes out of his hand. It's very lively. It looks beautiful. As I've said, he's a little small for me. He's got the worst roster, probably the fourth best coach in a division. You can just put down 0 and 4 against the Patriots and the Bills. Just put O in 4 down.

Probably 0.6, if you put in the Dolphins. He is going to be fighting uphill. Of all the rookie quarterbacks, I think he has the worst spot. I love Joe Douglas. But listen, the kid made a couple of really quick, clever throws. And I will say this. This team is not bereft of talent. The offensive line, they have a very good left tackle.

Elijah Vera Tucker. I mean, they've got some talent here. I mean, Darnold was pressured on 42% of the snaps last year. That is just from a franchise standpoint, embarrassing. So between Bechtin and Elijah Vera Tucker, the jets are in far better shape up front. Mac Jones, low ceiling, not a playmaker. He is not the ideal quarterback for 2021-22 NFL football. But I said this on TV last week.

The Patriots do not have the kind of offensive talent that can overcome turnovers. And I can very easily see that franchise and that coaching staff talking themselves into Mac Jones and occasionally bringing in packages for Cam Newton near the goal line. Mac Jones can get you out of trouble to line of scrimmage, can get you into the right formation. He's a more accurate thrower, good feet, steady. you know, throws a nice deep ball, doesn't have a huge arm. But again, you know what New England's going to look like this year? They're going to look like the Miami Dolphins last year.

Now, the dolphins this year have added Jalen Waddle, Will Fuller, so they're going to have a lot more speed and punch on the perimeter. New England is going to look a lot like Miami last year with Tua playing. They went 10 and 6. 2a went 6 and 3 with below average quarterback play. But great coaching, great defense, good sports. special teams. The difference is New England has maybe the best screen game in the NFL next to San Francisco and all sorts of depth at running back. So, you know, the interesting thing about this,

if you told me at the end of the year, Mack Jones and Trey Lance were the winningest of these quarterbacks, that would make a lot of sense to me, even though I think Mac Jones has an incredibly low ceiling. And then Jordan Love, he got dinged up. I saw about five minutes of Jordan Love. He is the quarterback I saw the least of. He had a lively arm. He looked in control. He looked comfortable. I thought he played well. He's in the most unique position of all these quarterbacks. The fans aren't crying out for him. He's got a really good team. There's no urgency on his improvement. That's how well he knows schemes and he knows. defenses, you know, pre-snap stuff. So I think it'll work, man. I think that'd be good. And then they got a badass defense to play with too, man. That always helps. Well, yeah, you're not in shootouts every week, right? Exactly. Like he was in Detroit. Now, you faced him how many times Matt Stafford in

your career? Because you did a lot of AFC stuff, so you probably didn't face him a ton. I think I faced him twice. I think I faced him twice. I think twice. I said twice. How'd you do? I was solid. I mean, the first time I think he threw a bunch of deep ball to Calvin, man. I got a lot of safety help. It was jump balls. Me and Calvin, Calvin had two touchdowns that game. One was in two men.

Our safety leaning to the tight end pedigrew when we got Calvin Johnson over here. Don't lean to pedigrew when Calvin Johnson is over here with me, right? And then it was a hitch and go, too. So, you know, not all the way my fault. That was like 20 yards. with the hurry up, the hurry up quick fade that's on the highlight. Every time you see highlights, I'm on, I'm on his highlight tape on Calvin Johnson highlight tape. But he only has 66 yards.

66 yards, two touchdown. The second game, he has zero touchdowns. He has 70-some yards. I followed them. I followed them left to right both games. So I fare pretty well. And then the first game when he had two touchdowns, 66 yards, I had an interception for a touchdown.

So I matched one of the touchdowns with him. Now, Stanford, Stanford, unlike golf, he'll let it loose. take some chances. You sense that? Oh, definitely. Oh, definitely. I played against him twice, and both times, a few times I had some great coverage, and I ain't no slouts on no deep balls. People don't just throw me deep balls, right? Colin, I ain't never really just got balls just thrown up to me, right? Matt Stafford did. He did when I was in Tampa. He did when I was when I was in Denver. You know what I'm saying? I think that was the year we won the Super Bowl, too. So this was, this was lead, lead, you know what I'm saying? And he threw balls that way, man. So he did. He did.

He's going to let it go. Tight windows and everything. He's going to let it go. So it's hard to say who's good, who's not. You know, my takeaway is, let's talk Mac Jones on Thursday night. So if you were Belichick and you know him, you were there for years, right? They can make two arguments. They can make the argument that we don't have a ton of playmakers.

We need a playmaker at quarterback. Cam will give us something Mac won't. Or they can make this argument as a staff of key. Okay, we're not talented enough offensively to turn the ball over. Right. Okay. Mack Jones, more accurate, gets the ball out quickly, not going to run around. You know, Cam last year had picks.

He has fumbles. They can make two compelling arguments. We need Cam's playmaking or, you know what, we want a guy that just delivers the ball, distributes, gets us in and out of trouble, and then lets our defense win. your gut feeling on which way Belichick you're around and which way he'd go. I definitely think he'd go Cam just because I think Bill is big on leadership, right? And he knows, man, who's going to be the best leader in that huddle? And that's by far Cam.

So I think Bill think even though Mac Jones might be more accurate, he might be, you know, slower to throw something into traffic and he'd throw the check down quicker than Cam. I might try not, I ain't going to mess this thing up. I might not make no place. I might not. I ain't going to mess this thing up, though. You know he going to get that, but who's going to be the best leader in his huddle? You know, when things get tough, who are going to keep the guys together?

We're going to, you know, rally the troops when, when they need to be rallied. And you got to say that's Cam. Are you surprised? Cam struggled most of last year, though. But are you surprised that the Patriot culture in Cam have worked? Because by and large, he compliments it? Belichick compliments him. There's been no rough spots.

I mean, last year we got COVID in the middle of the year. So I kind of gave him a pass at the end of the year. I thought he played pretty well. Are you kind of surprised at work? I am. I'm surprised at works. Me being there, I'm not surprised at work because Cam is a leader. Like I said, he's a great leader.

And you're not going outwork him. He wanted them guys like, I might be Hollywood. I might dress like this. But he worked hell or hard. Like Odell, he's one of those kind of guys. man, you're not going to match their work. And it's shit like that, that build respect. You're a leader and you work like that.

You competitive like that. You bow down to nobody. I compete against anybody, any whatever. It don't matter who my receiver. Let's go. Bill respect that, man. So, and Cam different, man. I'm telling you, that leadership he got, it's, it's, you got leaders.

Then you got guys like Cam. So he top-notes leader, man. He's going to bring guys all the way together. So Bill feel that in the building. So here we go into another season. Give me your AFC NFC championship. Let's put it on tape. I'm going to go.

I like Buffalo a lot. I'm going to, it's not that I don't like Kansas City. They're everybody's favorite. I think Buffalo. I think Baltimore is going to be a handful. I think Cleveland's going to be a handful. I think the chargers are going to surprise people. You know it's not going to be Buffalo, Kansas City, because it's never the teams we think.

Right. So you've got to go outside the box. I'm going to go crazy here. Chargers, Bills, AFC. Throw me out. What do you got? Lick, AFC chip. I'm going to go Chiefs Browns.

I got no problem with it. Chiefs Browns. Odell Beckham comes back. Great offensive line. Baker finally has a legitimate head coach. KNFC. They got the pieces to play Joe Woods defense. Joe Woods super, super, super similar to Wade Phillips. You see he went and got, he went and got, come here, John Johnson, come here, Troy. He just got some bodies in his secondary.

He got some more cover guys. Come here, Newsom here, man guy. Come here. He got guys who really fit the description of that Joe Wood defense. I think that defense is going to be totally different this year. Let's go to the NFC. You have to take Tampa simply because they have the best roster. Seattle's not a complete team.

My gut feeling is when Cam Acres got hurt, the Rams are missing a leg on the barstool. They just don't have a running game. I'll probably go Seattle, Tampa, is my guess. I don't think Seattle's a complete team. I still have questions on the interior of the offensive line. but I do think Russell Wilson just win so many close games

I'd go Seattle, Tampa, what would be your call? Seattle, Tampa? Let me get outside the box a little bit, man. I'm gonna go, I like that West. I think somebody definitely got to represent in the West. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go Tampa, Arizona. I like Arizona to catch fire, man,

and you know. You know, it's funny. Last two years, as they were in a rebuild, Arizona's given the Seahawks, the Rams, and the Niners fits. In a total rebuild. They know how to play them guys. So as OK, as coach has been over there, right, he's doing good in the division. So you know how to play his division.

And that's the most important thing, man. Everything else will come around one year you would catch fire. As long as you know how to win in your division, you're in good shape, and that's what he's doing. Yeah, I also think that division could largely be dictated by who's healthiest. But the healthy team may just win. I mean, it's, you know, if Garoppolo goes down early and Trey's got to play, that's not ideal, right? That's not ideal. If Dwayne Brown got hurt, left tackle for Seattle, that's a bad O'Line overnight.

I would start Dalton for this reason. season. And when I was at practice, Andy Dalton throws a simple little curl route. And I'm

standing there in the sidelines. There's probably 500,000 people at practice. Nobody moves. Five plays later, Justin Fields goes in there and throws the same play. Same receiver. He catches it. A thousand people are on their feet screaming. So, you know, I mean, the point is, that this town is so hot for Justin Fields that it's going to happen. And Andy's being paid a lot of money. He's a veteran. He's saying all the right things. I'd let him start off.

I would have Justin Fields say, you're going to play in this first game. I don't know how much. Let's see what happens though. And the worst thing they could do is put this kid in there. And if he fails and fails early, boy, quarterback can lose their confidence. And now the locker room's looking around.

And you got all those issues. So I would go with Dalton to start off. I would play fields in the first game, and it's going to take care of itself. Matt Nagy cannot listen to the fans. If he makes a decision because what the fans want, there's an old expression. You listen to the people in the stand sooner or later.

You'll be sitting with them. How many snaps are they sharing first team snaps? Because that's crucial. You know, the other day when Tua, and we'll get to him in a, a second because you coached the dolphins. Tua played the Bears. Two has taken all the first team snaps in Miami. Justin Fields. Justin Fields isn't. Yeah, Tua's a starter. Yes. I mean, he's a starter. Fields is not right now. And I think, you know, think about this.

And Matt Nagy kind of fished here a little bit on this the other day. But the one thing that I will say about Matt and I know him and Ryan Pace and the McCasky family, they are people of high integrity. And they told Andy Dalton, you come here and you're going to be the starter. I just think that that's part of it, that they want to hold to their commitment of this kid. And I think that's what's going to happen. They open up Sunday night in Los Angeles against the Rams. So it's not going to be easy. I don't know if I put, I don't know, I don't think there's a quarterback in the league that would want to start under, you know, Aaron Donald, right? No, they wouldn't.

We can get into that. I thought Fields, I thought that Zach Wilson was the best. I was totally, I had never seen this kid play much. And I'm watching him at the Jets game. And I said, wow. I mean, he caught my attention. Why? I thought just accuracy, this quick decision making.

The ball came out. and he was completing him. He was converting third downs, and there was a full speed pass rush coming at him. I mean, that guy got my attention. I thought that Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence were about the same. You know, Trey Lance, I thought he was, he's got the father's way to go. I did not see Mack Jones play at New England.

I missed that game. But I saw the rest of them. And I'll tell you, the kid at the Jets is a play. player. Well, I mean, listen, we knew this about him. You know, he had his two comps are Aaron Rogers and Johnny Mansell. He's got a good feed. He moves well and he's got a very, very quick release. He's got a better arm than Mansell. And the one thing I liked about Zach Wilson is, you know, Mikhail Bechtin, they have a left tackle. Donald never did. And then Elijah Vera Tucker. Now they're going to have, you know, arguably the best guard in the draft. So one of the things I

liked about him, despite being a smallish quarterback, he's 6-2-2-10. That's smaller than you'd like. Aaron Rogers is 6-2-2-25 thicker, big calves, big wrists. Aaron's a thicker athlete. But I thought Zach stood in the pocket. And Trent Dilford told me this years ago, he goes, some guys, Colin, they don't like defensive linemen barking at him. They don't like it. They get nervous. I thought Zach, as a smaller quarterback, just stood as the pocket kept closing and closing and he just stood there. And that's something to me. There's a certain inner confidence that was impressive. I would agree totally. You know, it's amazing. All these young quarterbacks are playing well. And there's so many teams right now that are talking about going to the

Super Bowl and they want to anoint these young quarterbacks. You know, I mean, they want to bless them already. I would just take you back. And we went to Dallas with Troy Aikman, our first year. And I think we might have been three and one, but we were feeling real good about the preseason. And we went down to New Orleans and Justin Fields made one comment that makes me a little nervous. He said, the game wasn't nearly as fast as I thought it would be. Okay. Well, it wasn't nearly as fast for us. We were driving back. We beat the Raiders and, you know, we had never lost at University of Miami down there, Jimmy and myself and all. the whole crew. And we're driving back. And I remember saying to myself, God, this is going to be

easy. What's big deal? And we went down and played the Saints in New Orleans. And we got shut out. And the only time they didn't score is when they missed the field goal or dropped the ball in the end zone. We were terrible. We won one game that year. But in the preseason, we had a whole different feeling. So, you know, I'm pumping the break. I love what I see on these young quarterbacks. but I'm kind of pumping the brakes a little bit and saying, you know, it's going to be a different game. Justin Fields, slow down. It's going to be faster. Trust me, when you play, get in that game against the Rams and see Aaron Donald and company over there,

it's going to be a lot faster. And without further ado, let's welcome in Triple H. You know, it's funny, Paul, they gave me all these questions, and I thought I got a, some of these I don't even care about. Let's get to the real stuff. Yeah, go ahead. You look like you're in fantastic shape. Well, fantastic might be a stretch. Apparently, I didn't look that good.

I had to go in there and get shiny stuff on my head, so I didn't blind everybody. For me, the gym is sort of the anchor in my life, right? So I think everybody needs something that can level set them on a daily basis. For me, it's training. And if I don't, you know, if I'm not in the gym training on a regular basis, I started when I was 14. So if I'm not doing that on a regular basis, I feel like I'm spiraling out of control. Do you have another match in you?

Could you be talked into it? So I'm glad you stopped that you still got it, Chant, because you don't know. Quite honestly, neither do I. Yeah, look, if people want it, if it's the right thing, it's got to be intriguing for me. You know, so like, just at this point, with as busy as everybody is in the WWE from a business side, for me to get ready for WrestleMania, it's not at my age, it's not something that you enter into casually. I'd have to train a lot a couple times a day for, you know, three months or so to get ready for that in-ring training, everything. So I've already torn most everything off my body, so you want to make sure you're not ready to do that again.

So the training would be the tough part with the schedule, but if it was something that people wanted and it was intriguing to me, I would love to do it. I would love to come back and hit a WrestleMania. But I've said it before, I'd also love to, you know, much like somebody like Cina's doing, which is you sort of make the comeback and you do it. But going to the towns, I'd love to, you know, if I was to do something like that before I called it a day, go to the garden again, you know. Go to Japan. Go to different countries and have that one more match, you know, step into those cities that you went to where you have 25 plus years of memories of all those things and opponents and everything else

and be able to go out there and do it again in front of them one more time. Now, that doesn't have to be against the same person you go against at WrestleMania. So, you know, for me, it's a matter of what we can make happen, but it's intriguing for sure. Who is the most underrated, in your opinion, the fighter that maybe didn't quite get to your level or Stone Cold, but you look back and you're like, hell of a wrestler, athletic, just a gamer in the ring. Well, you guys help out with that, feel free.

Well, it's a hard thing to say because what you're saying to me is who's the best, you know, if you're looking at technical in-ring wrestling, right? Right. Like, okay, so let's look at WrestleMania 3. Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant. Andre's older, broken down at that point, can't move a lot. Hogan's Hogan. And people think that's a knock, not the most athletic performer of the generation.

Great crowd psychology, unbelievable charisma, all those things. 90,000 people, Pontiac Silver Dome, right? Because of that match, Savage Steamboat on the card. Steambo, one of the greatest in-ring performers at all time. If that match wasn't on the card, they still would have put 90,000 people in a Pontiac Silverdome to watch Hogan and Andre.

That's what they paid to see. The match that stole the night, the fight, was that one. Was the Savage Steamboat, right? That was by far the greatest match in the card. But it didn't draw the crowd. Right. So, you know, there are a lot of fighters

out there that even in the legit fight business, great fighters. They don't capture the imagination of anybody, so they're always undergone. They don't have the magnetism that you did, Stone Cold, Hulk, the rock. Look, Floyd Mayweather, you can make an argument that

Floyd is the greatest boxer of a generation. You could make an argument that he's one of the greatest of all time, right? Technically, even statistically, beyond others, right? when did he really become a box office draw when he creates a character called Money Mayweather and he pitches a show to HBO called 24-7

right and he goes on HBO and he gives them a character every single week against a bunch of fighters didn't matter who they were and Floyd gives you a spectacle where everybody was caught up in this guy and he knew if I can make them hate me and want to see me get knocked out and then no one touches me, and I win every time,

I'm going to make a boatload of money. That was a success for him. The personality was the success, the image, the Money-Mayweather image was the success for him. He happens to be the greatest boxer of a generation, but the character is when it took off. I want you to go back to your career. I want you to go back to the match.

Maybe it was the size of it. It was the opponent. That was the most exhausting. that when it was done, I mean, Paul, you really felt like I left every ounce you had the toughest physical match you ever had in your life. So it's hard, it's hard to say because there's moments in your career. Adrenaline is a magical thing. Right.

So there's moments in your career where you do get, you know, you get beat up, you get battered, and you get injured along the way. you know it's not the secret everybody knows it I'm not bragging about it but like I tore my quad twice on live TV finish the matches I

the first elimination chamber we were in and I I hate even bringing it up because it wasn't Rob Van Dam's fault in any way shape or form none of us had ever been in that thing before and partway through the match which was you know an amazing amount of talent

but as Rob came off the top of the cage, he went on top of a pod, which wasn't as, didn't have as much space on it as we envisioned it having. He couldn't stand up straight, whether I was in too far or too close, not sure, but just came off funny, and he tried to protect me, but landed on my throat. You know, I could hardly breathe the whole match, and they brought a doctor out under the ring. And, you know, you have matches like that where you're just trying to get through it. Adrenaline probably gets you through it. Yeah. That's it. And those are, Those are difficult things.

And again, like you said, adrenaline. They were all chanting Taker a minute ago. And when Taker and I wrestled not hell in the cell, but the year before, I'm terrible with numbers. So it was a WrestleMania something. Thank you. But wrestled the year before. It was so physical.

And I remember walking out of there thinking like, Jesus, that was brutal, like on both of us. And for whatever reason, the people you're closest to, you can hit the hardest in our business. I don't know why that is. It's just the thing. We beat the hell out of each other. When it was over, I walked his locker room to talk to him, and he couldn't get up off the floor. I went back to his locker room like two hours later, and he was still sitting there. He had moved to a chair, but he couldn't get out of the chair. Damn it, Colin, you're going to make my makeup run. I did Charlotte player earlier today. Yeah, yeah.

And I had more makeup on than she did. You know, that's leaving it all out there. But that's what we do. And there's, you know, are there matches where it's harder? Yeah, there's matches where... But I've seen everybody do it. I watched Austin in the heyday. One time I wrestled him for like 40 minutes in a town in the middle of nowhere.

And I didn't know he was sick walking in. And I thought he looked a little funny when we hadn't talked. You know, I hadn't really seen him much during the day because what I didn't know was he was sick in a room. We got to the ring and I remember looking across the ring and I'm thinking it looks a little green. Maybe it's lighting in here or whatever. But anyway, we went like 40 minutes. And when we got done, I walked in the back and he was like laying down and he was just shaking and he was green. And he had an infection in his elbow.

You know, he had staff. I didn't know it. Wow. You know, but he was just the pride of the performer and what we go through for you. You don't, you know, people respect it and they get it, but they have no idea.

No one. And I'm glad it's changed somewhat today. We have the medical protocols that we have and everything. We protect talent. There's an old saying that, you know, you have to put a rider on a horse, on a race horse, because if you don't have a rider to stop it, it'll just keep running until it dies.

A lot of ways performers in our industry used to be like that. Yeah. And we put those medical practices in place because you have to pull those reins, because they will just keep running. And you have to protect ourselves from ourselves in some manner. And so I've seen a lot of people do it. But on any given night, most everybody's leaving everything they got in that ring. That wraps it up for the week.
