There is a contest for every fan.
Fan Duel, more ways to win.
All right, Chad.
Millman's the chief content officer for the Action Network.
And starting next week, every Friday morning, 30 minutes, Milman and I, I'm going to give you
my seven or eight best picks.
He'll pick them apart from a wise guy angle, a sharp angle.
So what we're going to do, this is our preamble, our prelim, to really starting for 20
weeks, starting next week.
So I'm just going to go through the games and just give you some basic thoughts.
and you don't have to come down with your picks yet.
I'm just going to give you my basic thoughts.
And what I want you to do with every one of these,
I'll give you a sentence or two.
Just first say sharper square and then have your opinion.
It might take a sharper square, whether I'm on the right side or not, sharper square.
Okay?
You ready to go?
Yep.
Okay.
Dallas at Tampa, I would lean Cowboys plus.
seven and a half. Why?
Because the strength of their team is their offensive line, and I don't know as it's aged
if it's healthy in week 12. It's healthy in week one. It will give DAC time. I think the
weakness of the bucks is probably corner. Seven and a half is too much to eat. I'd lean Dallas.
Sharp. Boom. Hell yeah. Do you want the
30 second explanation of the data that's
Okay, so yeah, I want you to give me a 30 second.
Just, that's it.
Like I said that last time on this show and you gave me Gettysburg.
I'm looking for 30 seconds.
Dude, you went into like your love affair with Chicago and what a sexy city it is.
Don't come at me.
Oh, I love that.
City.
All right.
The money, the sharp money right now coming in on Dallas.
That is your first indicator.
Number two, opening night, Super Bowl champ, always going to be overvalued.
There's always going to be more points.
Number three, Dak Prescott hasn't played.
Public is undervaluing what he will do in a return.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo, bills minus six and a half feels a little bit like a pass.
Here's why.
Steelers are rebuilding their offensive line.
Should be an advantage for the bills, but they are addressing their defensive line to weakness
of a team. They don't have a pass rush. So I really have two weaknesses
squaring off with each other. Ben, let's not forget,
best shape and a long time and played well early last year. It feels like too much to bite.
It would be a pass for me. The number, I'm not comfortable giving up six and a half,
but don't love a rebuilding O line for the Steelers. I think that is so nuanced and sharp because
the right side is the bills.
The money is, the sharp money is coming in on the bills,
but it's not a very good number.
There's no real value to be had in this game.
And sharps, they like to bet value
where they feel like they have an advantage.
All right.
You've caught on to this 32nd thing.
I'm a professional.
Okay, here's the next one.
This number's moved.
I would take Jets Plus 5 at Carolina.
Here's why.
Now, the number is moved toward Carolina.
The jet's strength is their D-line.
The Panthers' weakness is their O-line.
And when Sam Darnold, as much as I like him, is put in pressure spots, he makes poor decisions.
He didn't play much in the preseason.
It's his first start.
I'd probably take the Jets now that the number is five.
100% sharp.
you're on it today.
I don't want to tell you.
I'm looking at all of the data in the Action Network app right now.
We have all these signals,
sharp money coming in on the Jets,
our systems coming in on the Jets.
I think there is a lot of questions
from the professional betters about Sam Darnold
and really about Carolina overall.
I love Carolina.
I think their coach is amazing,
but I think there's still a lot of questions
about what they can do.
I'm always concerned when your strength is my weakness.
And I think Carolina left tackle situation, interior line, they have a good right tackle.
The rest of it is a nothing stew.
The rest of it I don't like.
Okay.
Jacksonville minus three at Houston.
I think I would take the Jags, although I don't, it's not going to be a big money bet,
too many unknowns.
They will score points.
Urban Meyer's first pro game.
They'll be clever.
I think Houston has the worst coach in the league.
I think I would go Jags minus three, but I wouldn't bet a lot.
That's not the sharp play.
And you're talking about first year head coach and Urban Meyer,
who has not shown an ability to really galvanize his team or make the right decisions.
A first year quarterback in Trevor Lawrence, who obviously hasn't played in the NFL yet,
Houston is a train wreck that is headed for a nuclear waste site, but they still have Tyrod Taylor
starting. They're still at home. And so much value has been put on the Jags at this point.
We've texted about the week one picks. I have told you that I will have disgusting plays to make
in week one. The Texans will be a week one play. Oh, that's gross. It's totally gross. But look,
there's seven home underdogs right now in week one.
Last year, the Jags were a team that everyone said they're gross, never bet them.
Wise guys bet them week one and didn't touch them again.
And they won in week one.
Arizona plus three at Tennessee.
I think I would lean Arizona.
I wonder greatly about the left side of the O line for the Titans and Arthur Smith's departure.
So Tannahill was a reclamation project and literally under Arthur Smith became like a new player.
He's gone.
And Kyle Shanahan left Matt Ryan.
He was never the same from the first game the following year.
I think I feel I have a quarterback coach relationship in Arizona that's gotten better.
Last year he improved in every category.
I don't love Kingsbury.
but I get a field goal here.
I think they can keep up.
I'd lean Arizona.
I'd lean Arizona.
There's no real sharp play in this game.
This is not a game that's getting a lot of attention from professional betters.
Right now that seems pretty well lined at a field goal.
I lean Arizona with you.
If you're going to bet Kingsbury, bet him early.
Even when he had a quarterback named Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, he was dreadful,
really choke artist dreadful in the second half of the year, as he was this past year as well.
I had Darius Butler, former defensive back for the Colts, for the Patriots, for the Panthers,
on the Favorites podcast, on the Volume Podcast Network last week.
We were talking about the AFC South.
I asked him specifically about Arthur Smith because we had been making a big deal.
Arthur Smith leaving is going to hurt Ryan Tanil.
And he said his take was that it matters less than you think.
Because a guy like Tannehill, remember, he's basically played quarterback for six years, seven years.
he was a wide receiver turned quarterback at Texas A&M, turned NFL project, turned NFL Pro Bowler.
He's saying at this point his career, he's probably feeling as comfortable as he ever has.
With the crutch he had with Arthur Smith, he might not need anymore.
And he's got incredible weapons around him.
Now Julio Jones there too, two pro bowl wide receivers, best running back in football.
So he was feeling more comfortable about Ryan Tanhill without Arthur Smith.
For all of these reasons, it's either Arizona or a pass.
Philadelphia at Atlanta, the number tells me to take the Eagles.
So I would pass on this.
I do think Atlanta will be a fun watch.
I think Kyle Pitt's going to get into the 70 catches, half a dozen touchdowns.
Ridley's becoming a star.
I think their O-line's actually pretty good.
They've drafted well.
I think Matt's going to have a nice year.
I think I would pass because the line's telling me to take Philadelphia.
And I have less trust in Nick Sariani than I do cheap toilet paper.
I am passing, but if I had to, 401 gun to my head, I'd take Atlanta because I think they're
going to score this year.
I will say Philadelphia kept four tight ends.
I like that move for Jalen Hertz.
I like that move a lot because Riegers actually had a very good camp and Devonte Smith.
Their offensive weapons are better than I think we think.
The play is Philly.
I'd pass.
Your thoughts.
The line is at three and a half at Fandua right now.
The play is Philly because of the half point because of the hook.
Atlanta to me may be the most interesting team in the NFC
because Matt Ryan is so undervalued right now.
I bet Matt Ryan to lead the league in touchdown receptions at 38 to 1.
Kyle Pitts, Calvin Ridley, offensive genius in Arthur Smith,
emphasis on that side of the ball.
You know they are going to light it up.
I also think the Falcons, given what the Saints have to go through,
given what the Panthers are
seeing potential regression
from the team
that always wins the Super Bowl
the Falcons are an interesting
flyer to me to win that division
definitely like the Falcons
over seven and a half wins
on this game
on this game
I agree with you
the Eagles or the side
because of the hook
so I want to pass for me
let's just stop here
I've been pretty damn good so far
can we acknowledge that?
No it's great
and really all counts right now too
I would submit to you
I'm almost a sharp.
I'm like an hour away of good picks from being a sharp.
This is a little bit your Achilles heel.
You are almost a sharp and it potentially gets in the way of you becoming a sharp.
I know.
That's my life story.
Okay, this is the toughest game on the board because I like both these teams.
I would go Chargers minus one at Washington.
I pick Washington to win the division.
I think their defensive front is the best in the league since the Niners defensive front a couple years ago.
So here's my concerns.
I think it's an underbet.
The Chargers O line is revamped, but it's their first game.
They didn't, because they have a young McVeigh prodigy, they didn't play a lot of starters.
This is an awful opening defensive line assignment for a new offensive line creating chemistry.
This D-line is filthy.
But I think the Chargers are undervalued.
So I think Chargers is my bet here, but I do think it's.
going to be a spotty game. Herbert makes play second half they win, but it has a chance to be a
low scoring ugly game despite all the offensive firepower on both sides. Your thought? So the Chargers
were the team that we talked about today the most on the favorites with me and professional
better Simon Hunter. And look, Simon Hunter, he's making a ridiculous amount of money betting on football.
We love week one home underdogs.
Washington is in that mix.
So if we're talking about picks that will make us uncomfortable,
Washington is one of those picks.
But I love the chargers.
I love the chargers over nine.
I bet the chargers aggressively at longer than 33 to one odds to win the Super Bowl.
I'd take a flyer on them 16 to 1 at Fandwell to win the conference and plus 450 to win the division.
I would also say
the wise guys are going to bet Washington in this game
because they are the home underdog
because they have a potentially historic rate
defensive line
and then I would say
after the Chargers lose this game
bet the Chargers 40 to 1
or better to win the Super Bowl
because their odds will drop after this game.

months. It's called Colin Cowherd's Saturday spreads. This week's game, I like Alabama to cover a
Miami. The line's big, but I like him to cover. I like Clemson to cover against Georgia.
I think Louisiana will give Texas trouble, lose but cover against the Longhorn.

I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

San Francisco minus seven and a half at Detroit.
My theory has always been bad teams don't know they're bad until week four.
I would take Detroit plus seven and a half.
San Francisco's shared a lot of snaps.
I think San Francisco is a very good team, but bad teams at home early,
Dan Campbell gets guys to play hard. He's got that kind of meat head run through a wall. He's talked
about how good the room is. Gough's got a lot to prove. I'd take Detroit to cover.
100% sharp for everything you just said. The only thing I will add, this line is so overinflated.
Seven and a half. I know professional betters on the podcast, on the favorites, we've talked about
this, we've got it handicapped at about five, right? The, the Niners should be five-point
favorites in this game. Seven and a half. What does that tell you? The public has been streaming in
on the Niners. So much conversation about Trey Lance, his MVP odds are shrinking because
people are excited about what he can do. There's all this love for Kyle Shanahan as a genius coach.
I buy in on all of that, but this line is too high. It should be five. A tough line here. Seattle minus two
and a half at the Colts. The lines telling me to take Seattle. I do worry about all the vaccination
nonsense with the Colts. And Carson Wentz, an injury, the protocols, he's missed a lot of snaps.
Quentin Nelson has missed a lot of snaps. I'd probably take Seattle minus two and a half here,
although I wonder if Duane Brown's going to play. But Seattle, when they're running backs are healthy,
and they are now. If you go back last couple of years, they've had running back injuries.
And it's really, Pete wants to run the football, despite Russell Wilson at his quarterback.
But when Seattle's healthy with three healthy backs or more, they play a different style of football.
And it travels really well. They play very well in the Eastern Time Zone and Central.
And their running backs are healthy. I think I'd take Seattle minus two and a half here.
I think that's a square side.
We're talking about a team in the Colts that was one of the few teams,
along with the Rams, the Niners, the Packers, the Ravens, the Chiefs, and the Bucks.
Those are the teams that had double-digit season win totals posted by bookmakers.
If the Colts have their full complement of players, and Carson Wentz has cleared the
Quentin Nelson has cleared the protocols.
This is a team that has the biggest liability for sports books in their season win total, over 10 and a half.
It is the team that the wise guys have been piling in on, over 10 and a half.
So now you're telling me you're getting a team the wise guys love, one of the few non-markey teams that is listed at 10.5, 10 wins or more as less than a field goal favorite at home.
everything you're saying about the Seahawks is right.
I believe that in the NFC West, they're probably the best buy.
They're about 20 to 1 to win the Super Bowl, 10 to 1 to win the conference, you know, plus 275 to win the division.
I like them a lot.
I think the Rams and the charters are both a little suspect, but I think it's a bounce back year for Seattle.
You give me the home team that is rated as highly as Indianapolis is at less than a field goal because of the questions you've been asking.
I'm taking the calls.
I'll take Cincinnati at home plus three and a half.
I worry about Joe Burrow's confidence, but I think they've fixed mostly their offensive line.
I think Zach Taylor had a very good first year with Joe Burrow.
They have running back talent, wide receiver talent.
And I don't know what I get from Minnesota.
I know that Mike Zimmer, I've been told, is not happy with Kirk Cousins, his vaccination stance.
Mike's been very public about that.
I don't know if it's a great locker room.
I was told four days ago.
that Zimmer doesn't have close relationships with players.
They respect him, but he's more of a coach's coach than a player's coach.
I don't know what their room's like right now.
I'm going to take Cincinnati plus three and a half.
A hundred percent sharp.
Look, if you're looking at week one underdogs, Cincinnati is prime.
You don't know what you're getting in Joe Burrow.
That puts the value from a public perspective on the Vikings.
People thinking the Vikings had a moment last year where they looked like they could be a playoff team and a sleeper Super Bowl team.
Value on the Vikings from the public thinking, oh, they're the team that could be the team I want to think about this year.
I agree with you on Kirk Cousins.
I think there are huge issues in that locker room.
I don't think he's a guy who can galvanize people.
I think Justin Jefferson is over there thinking, really?
I got to spend my second year with Kirk Cousins.
How many years do I get in this league as a talent like I am?
So I am all over Cincinnati as the underdog at home.
Miami at New England, Patriots minus two and a half.
I can see Brian Flores totally upending Tua,
but I'm going to swallow it here, take New England.
I think this is going to be the best offensive line
and deepest running back unit Belichick has had in several years.
And I don't think they're going to ask much of Mack Jones.
I'll throw something at you.
I came up with this this week.
I went back to 2015 with the Carolina team.
If you have a top two rated offensive line and a top three rated running back production,
2015 Panthers, I know the Rams with golf were in this,
foals and eagles,
Baker Mayfield Cleveland last year,
Garoppolo Niners, and I'm missing one.
New England has a top three rated O line,
and I believe it will be a top three running back production.
I think their room is really good.
And so I went back six years and, oh, it was DAC, 13, 13 rookie year.
Number one read at O line, Zeke led the league in rushing.
That when you have those two components, the quarterback becomes irrelevant.
The quarterbacks were Garopolo, Foles, Cam, golf.
I mean, it didn't matter.
Baker Mayfield.
I think New England's better than we think because they're not going to, when you have a dominating
offensive line and running game, the quarterback becomes significantly less relevant.
And I think they have a chance to win 10 or 11 games, despite what we think of Mac Jones.
So I take New England here.
It's the square side.
Nobody disagrees with you about New England.
Everyone believes they are vastly improved and that Bill Belichick looked at last year.
it's kind of a
he knew it was going to be a lost year.
He said it in the middle of the year.
He's like,
we went all in on going to Super Bowls
and the AFC title games.
And, you know, this year we knew
the cupboard was going to be bare.
He rethought what the system was going to be.
Imagine an Olympics
where doping is not only legal,
but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.

Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84's big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross.
Because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions.
bro. Absolutely. And that's two
different levels of trust. I want you to
just really be a good person.

He did exactly what you said. He's doing smash mouth football. He's going to play conservatively. He's going to put Mack Jones in a position to win games.
but we're not talking about who's going to win.
We're talking about who's going to cover.
And this game was at Miami plus three.
I liked it a lot at that number.
It's gone down because of the Mac Jones news.
And you've got to understand one thing.
If Tua is what people believe he can be,
he's got three first rounders at Whiteout.
And I know that wise guys are not having a hard time believing in what this dolphin's offense can be.
And we've already seen the dolphins defense can be pretty good.
So I think you're getting a defense that is good and overvalued team on the other side in the Patriots.
And you're getting the right value on the dolphins.
Okay, I'm not going to talk Ravens or Raiders.
That's Monday night I'm saving it.
I'm not talking Bears Rams.
That's Sunday night.
I'm saving it.
But I do want to talk Denver minus two and a half at the New York Giants.
I'm going to take the Giants plus two and a half.
I hate myself because I hate their offensive line.
I said this the other day.
The one thing I saw in the preseason that literally I couldn't get past, I couldn't
unsee it.
I saw the Giants O line three times get mauled.
I can't unsee it.
And I got Vaughn Miller on one side.
They've now fixed their corners.
so they have more confidence, Kyle Fuller and Patrick Surton.
So they're going to bring heat.
I got, what's the defense event on the other side?
The kid from NC State.
Bradley Chubb.
I hate that.
This is a stayaway game for me.
I can't unsee the Giants, but they're a home dog.
I do like Joe Judge.
I do like their defensive front.
I think I'd go Giants.
But, oh, their offensive lines is a disaster.
It's a sharp, going with the Giants is the sharp play.
but it's a
it's your hold your nose and bet it
because you know it's the right thing to do,
not because you're comfortable doing it.
And that's betting, by the way.
Like, oftentimes,
betting is doing disgusting things
if you want to be a winner.
It's not trying to choose who's going to win.
It's not trying to overanalyze the game.
It's looking at the numbers.
It's understanding the value.
It's understanding that this is the NFL
and that it's very predictable
and how games often play out, right?
and you need to know that making decisions when betting makes you uncomfortable.
This is a game that makes you uncomfortable.
Wise guys will bet the Giants in this game.
Andrew Thomas, as a left tackle, is dreadful.
You can see it in the preseason.
He gets beaten on the edge every time.
He was terrible last year.
Daniel Jones is going to be having to sneak up in the pocket and throw with pressure on
his backside every single game.
It's going to be ugly, but this is still the right side.

Finally, because I'm not going to give you Monday night football, we're talking about that next week.
And I'm not giving you Bears at Rams.
I'm talking about that next week.
That's Sunday Night Football.
But I'm going to end with this.
Cleveland at Kansas City minus six and a half.
Listen, the two things you bet in the NFL is Belichick against the young quarterback
and Annie Reid in September.
I would take as a fat number, and Cleveland will be favored in 14 of their games this year.
They probably won't be favored at Baltimore.
Baltimore. They'll probably be one or two. They have a West Coast game. Maybe not. I think I'd swallow the six and a half here. Andy Reid drawing up plays against a brand new secondary. I think Cleveland roster goes toe to toe. If I told you, listen, we've got a new secondary. Who do you want to open with? The last answer in the league would be Mahomes and Andy Reed at Arrowhead. I think I swallow the six and a half and take Kansas City. Sharp, sharp, sharp. It's great to be getting.
under seven in this.
Has the makings of a backdoor cover for the chiefs,
but I love it regardless.
I think it's totally the right side.
The wise guys think it's totally the right side.
You don't bet against Patrick Mahomes.
That offensive line,
either you believe it's starting to gel
and has been getting better during the preseason
and you believe what you've been seeing
in the press the past few days.
Or you don't,
but you still got Patrick Mahomes in Annie Reed in September.
It's one of those things.
Yeah.
You're spot on.
You're 100% spot on.
I would say the majority of your picks just now are very sharp.
Well, these aren't picks.
These are liens.
My picks are next week.
That's right.
So I don't want to give stuff away.
Fair.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, you know, but I think what do I have to do to be a sharp?
Like, what's the accreditation?
Well, that's a good thing.
It's something we can aim for.
And you know what we can do is at the end of the year,
we can decide.
Like, why do we make this sort of sharp university?
And for the next 20 weeks, you're being judged.
It's like, it's like Rodney Dangerfield in, you know, what was that movie?
Where he's like, you know, diving at the University of Wisconsin or whatever.
So, like, you are going through school over the next 20 weeks.
We're going to judge you.
And every week, we're going to decide and we'll do this on the favorites.
Like, we will decide how to calm do this way.
is Colin passing.
And if you pass, like say
11 out of the nine weeks,
you're a sharp.
And we're going to give you a badge
and maybe a trophy.
That would be, I, you know, listen,
I didn't finish college
and that's always been a thorn in my side.
So I'd like some sort of official accreditation
in my career, because my career at this point
is just making shit up and getting paid for it.
There's not a lot of legitimacy to it.
No.
There's no license.
and sing with what I do.
No.
I want you to have a certificate.
I think America does.
A diploma.
It'd be nice to have one in the family.
