This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Winning on Clay is an art.
The rallies are relentless.
And at the French Open, only the toughest survive.
I'd know.
I competed there for decades.
Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the
biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris.
She can win.
She's an outsider to win the French fame.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.
And I actually can win on any service.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?

Let's go. Hey, doing it live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio. And like you said, you can stream us,
do all that good stuff. Something I wanted to get through today for sure, spectacles in the world of
sports. Oh, like Chris Saba? No, no, those are some sweet goggles. Like Kurt Rambis?
You know, I was the kid that wore the, I didn't wear the Sabo goggles, but if you were a kid
with glasses, you had that weakest strap that held your glasses in place. That did not give you
cred, by the way. No, that gave you wedgies. Yeah. And yeah, spectacles in the world of sports,
we'll talk about that, meaning the circus acts that I find to be very intriguing. Plus,
a new game that's sweeping the nation. We're going to play quote me.
on this action pack Tuesday, giving away some prizes here.
Plus, we got to talk cry babies in sports.
Cry baby, cry.
But first and first mostly, your thoughts on the Dodgers game yesterday.
Less about the Dodgers, even though it was a great win, Danny G.
And a great game.
More about show Hayes triumphant return.
We talked about it here on the show.
One to two innings was expected.
You're like, well, how many pitches?
30, 40 pitch.
which is, I don't know, but do you feel like it was a little bit of a letdown for people
that overpaid for tickets? And or were you just impressed to see Shohei back out there?
It was a bit of mixed emotions for me. So cool to see him clocking out 100, 1001 miles per hour.
Yeah. But it did seem that he had no command of his fastball. Maybe that was adrenaline. Maybe
that was rust. I don't know. But it seemed like he didn't have that control. And then he led up
one earned run, right?
One bloop single, a nice single from her eyes,
but he was only in for one inning.
Again, one inning more than we've seen since 2023.
But if you overpaid for tickets, just to say you saw that.
Should have been a strikeout when Machado went around with that.
That swing was all the way around.
That's why I'm glad we're talking about it.
And if you just read the box score, that it was Tatis with that bloop single, right?
If you just saw the box score, that was a weak single.
And then a wild pitch.
So it was a bloop single, but it didn't seem like he had the command.
Was it the fact that he hasn't been on the mound in the minute?
Or was it just adrenaline flowing and he was overthrowing?
Well, if you're a casual fan and you were disappointed like, wait, we paid all that money.
Otani's return, if you expected more than 25, 30 pitches in one inning,
I almost say shame on you.
You deserve it because a real Dodgers fan, Danny.
I'd imagine out here knew what you were going to get.
To be disappointed, you knew he wasn't going to go 90 pitches, five innings.
That was never really the plan.
You were at least hoping for two winnings, right?
And a strikeout.
He's sitting all that traffic.
Yeah, but you're sitting all this L.A. traffic.
You're in a mad rush to get out of the office.
You're getting the kids.
We're going to go see Shoah.
You're probably paying double the amount because it's Shoaheotani's first time on the
mount as a Dodger.
And again, all these things are great in this.
going to end up being great in the future, but you're at least hoping for two winnings.
I felt a bit of a letdown.
I wish you went a little more than that.
Is there?
I didn't know, cool.
I know very cool.
And I know the answer is 100% yes.
But can you imagine being one of those fans that you went to the stadium thinking you'd get
there early, you hit some terrible L.A. traffic, and you get in there in the middle
of the first, and you're like, I don't feel sorry.
I don't feel sorry for any of the fans that just want to brag to people.
I was there for this and I was the one there for that.
Like either you're a fan and you can watch it on TV.
Okay, that's great if you can go.
But you know what I'm saying, Covino?
Like it's a show-off kind of thing.
You know what I hate on a side of it.
You know what you were walking into.
The MLB free game of the week.
And of course it was blacked out so I couldn't even watch it out here in L.A.
But I saw all the highlights.
You know, I made sure to tune in.
I was watching the box score.
the game day live. Rich, you have personal friends that made the last minute decision to like,
yo, I guess we're going now. Do you know how much they overpaid for that? I think they said
easily over a hondo ticket each. So you got to ask yourself, if you're a family of four,
that's an extra four hondo you paid, was that one inning that maybe you caught, maybe you missed,
even still was one inning? Was it really worth it? I mean, if you're paying for that.
You are one of those type of people that like to be at the event. If you're the person that's
like, yo, big event, I got to be there.
I think it is a little L.A. braggy in a fine way to me.
I was there for Otani's pitching debut.
I think it was braggy, but I also think it was awesome for the sport of baseball for
Otani, for the Dodgers, just to see him back out there.
And just to be reminded of why he is, who he is, and how ridiculous he is that he can
just get out there and throw 101 miles per hour.
Like, this guy's gross.
It's like, get out of my face.
You're too good.
And then tempers flared later in the game when Cease is.
hit Paez and it looked like it looked kind of intentional. I understand why Paez was upset.
And Sees was lights out at first. He had struck out five straight Dodgers. And then the
bats got to him. Dodgers rallied and had a big inning against him. And suddenly he looked
up and the score was six to two. And Cease was doing that little silly smirk he does as he walked off
sadly. But not bad for a Monday night. Monday, Fund day. Dodgers win six to three in Otani's return.
You had your NBA, OKC, stepping up again, breaking that streak, winning two in a row.
Because it was back and forth, back and forth.
They went two in a row, 120, 109.
Halliburton gets hurt.
And you're like, oh, no, I don't know about that.
Yeah, that could be the beginning of the end.
Exactly.
Now it's the, now it just seems like.
So an exciting.
Yeah, Monday night.
But still some question marks.
Like, hey, was it worth all that hustle and bustle to get to the stadium,
that extra flow to see one in?
inning, even though we knew.
It was a 7 o'clock local time start.
So it wasn't like one of those 5 p.m. games where you really are up against it trying to get to the stadium.
I was hoping he at least went to winnings though, Sam.
I really was.
And again, I know from a player perspective, like, or baseball perspective, you don't want to push him.
You don't want to push it.
And that's what we expected.
But I was hoping for at least two wins.
Isn't it the Dodgers M.O., though, to be very cautious with their pitchers because the people upstairs are looking at analytics and beep-bo-b-b-b-b-oh.
I was also hoping that.
It's worked out really well over the years.
I was hoping he lit him up, though.
If it was one inning, I wanted some gas, like three strikeouts, immaculate inning.
One thing the announcers pointed out was how cool it was that Shohei walks off the mound, goes and gears up to lead off in the batters box.
And they said he didn't say a word to anyone, not a coach, not a teammate, nothing.
He just went about his business and went up to bat.
And I was like, that is kind of cool that you step off the mound and then you go grab your baseball.
It's like Little League.
Or I don't know, the National League until a couple years ago, you A.L Yankees fan.
It's Shohay, though.
It's different.
Yeah, but a lot of those pictures, Rich, we're almost sure strikeouts.
Yeah.
He has expectations.
Do you think he even sweats that a little bit, meaning here's a guy who shines under the bright lights.
He steps up.
He has cameras up his nose everywhere he goes.
You think he feels a little bit of nerves going out there in this sort of moment?
I think he does.
No, I think he does.
Stop it.
Dude, he hasn't pitched since
2023, August 23.
Now, after seeing that last night,
I think the bigger question to wrap this up,
as we move forward,
we're, you know, less than a month
until the All-Star break,
we're seeing how the NL and AL are unfolding.
Dodgers, where you thought they'd be.
Is Shohayatani part of the postseason starting rotation?
Yeah.
Or is he a weapon out of the pen?
Do maybe you make him a closer down the stretch
of your bullpen starts to falter?
I thought that was the plan.
He wants to start.
There's no bullpen action.
There's no relief pitcher.
He doesn't want any of that.
So you're saying fast forward to October baseball.
Dodgers Padres, Dodgers Mets, Dodgers Cubs, Phillies, like big series.
Would we say yesterday?
Otani on the Hill?
Life's a risk, car now.
You're taking that risk.
And that's why you paid him the big bucks to do exactly that.
And that's what he wants to do.
So forget about what he wants to do.
That's what they're paying him to do.
So I know you want his bat in the lineup.
but you're also getting them on the mound.
That's what I think anyway.
Danny G., that seems to be where it's headed, right?
Otherwise, why is he starting now?
If he's healthy, he's going to be in the starting rotation.
And the cool thing is, I mean, maybe you spread them out in the meantime to keep him healthy.
Of course.
But I think the cool thing is, Kavino, we forget.
Not that we, I mean, I didn't.
But maybe the casual fan forgets when they went to the Universal DH, a National League or American League team could.
There was never a rule that you don't.
that you can't hit your pitcher.
It's just no one would ever opt for their pitcher to hit.
So you have real flexibility with Shohei Otani, meaning Danny G., middle of a game,
he could come in the third inning and start pitching.
And no problem.
Like, meaning there's no limitations.
You will never have to take Shohei Otani out of the lineup,
whether you start him, middle relief, close, or anything.
He will always be a bet in your nine in the lineup.
So there's no old school national league like,
if you pull him out. No, he is, he's hitting no matter what. And the new rules really favor a guy
like Otani, where you could do whatever you want with him. Kavino, you want to get out of a jam in the
fourth inning. You could bring on Otani for like a batter and then right back to D.H and no, no difference.
What's up, Dan Byer? Yeah, that is the funny thing. It's not like you have to put him at first base then,
then move the first baseman out to bring in your pitcher. It makes it very, very easy. Box score,
DH dash pit, you know, dash pitcher.
It's amazing.
So Otani is amazing last night.
And again, my criticism comes from, I just want more.
I just wanted to see more.
But we'll get there.
I get, it's the process.
But for the people that paid extra, I do wonder how they felt about it.
And they're probably going there for the brag, like you said.
So it all works out.
And to have that new cocktail, that big frozen blue bowl of jungle juice or whatever it is.
And that frozen bat that they're serving.
The frozen bat of goodness.
So your thoughts.
in at Covino and Rich
at Fox Sports Radio and of course Danny G
is always on standby at 87799
on Fox. That's our number
87799 on Fox. You plan on having
any frozen cocktails
during our broadcast on Friday?
As we do it live from the pool
at Circa. I've backed off on
frozen cocktails only because
I just sounds lame, I know, but like
who needs the added calories?
Oh, geez.
The sugar gives you headaches.
Yeah, come on.
My five?
We're having slurpees and vodka?
I don't need that anymore.
RSVPs.
We got 500 plus people, you know, coming out to see us.
But don't buy Kavino in Miami Vice.
I don't want a lava flow.
I want a vodka soda or an old-fashioned, like a real man.
I just don't need the slurpees anymore.
I'm not a little young baby boy anymore.
I'm all growns up.
Now, let's talk cry babies in sports.
Yeah.
I want to set this up.
There's a recent story, but there's another story that's,
in the headlines, and that's Raphael Devers.
You know, the Red Sox dished him for a bunch of nobody's,
a bunch of prospects from the San Francisco Giants.
So he's now a San Francisco giant because he refused to play first base.
That's really what it comes down to.
They're saying the minute he said, no can do,
I can't go for that.
No, no.
The minute he said no can do,
and like, all right, you're not willing to do what, I don't know,
players like Moogie Betts,
are willing to do.
Play where we need you.
Play like a team.
Then mental note.
Yep.
Raphael Devers doesn't want to play.
It says it's not good for him.
We get all that.
They dish him.
And now he's going to be playing DH and third,
his natural position for the Giants.
The thing was he said he wasn't comfortable playing
first base.
But he also threw the management and the coaching staff
under the bus saying, look,
They told me I was going to be D.H.
You got Bregman.
You keep me at a third.
I'm the D.H.
Now you want to put me at first.
Yo, you guys planned poorly.
I told you I didn't want to play first.
I don't play first.
He refused to play first.
Doesn't it make you respect Arod a little more when you look back at how he's so badly wanted to be a Yankee?
Even though you guys and the fans sort of treated him like a chump, he wanted to be a Yankee so bad that he's like, I'll play third base.
Derek Jeter, you got shortstop.
It makes you look back and say, did people not.
give Arod who was a bigger star
than Jeter at the time. I don't think he
got enough credit. I really don't.
But you know that Jeter owned that team
and he owned New York. So I don't think he had much of
a choice. But
I do give him credit. You're right.
Maybe he doesn't get enough credit for that.
And I think he wanted that ring. He knew that
was his chance to win. You know what I call?
I call it the softball theory. What's the softball
theory? When you're playing rec sports, softball,
pick up basketball, you name it.
If you're the new guy, right?
Or anything for that matter. If you say,
hey, where do you play?
Where can we use you?
You know what the answer always is?
No, man, wherever you need me.
Nothing is more eye-roly
than when some new kid
that's playing on a team is like,
I play shortstop and I bet third.
And I only play shortstop.
And I only bet third.
I mean, it's a bad look for rec sports.
And nobody can use my bat.
You don't think it's even a worse look
in pro sports when you're actually playing
for something of significance.
When you're playing for a World Series
or an NBA title,
or a Super Bowl or anything.
You don't think the answer always should be wherever you need me?
Well, let me plant this nugget because I want you to look at it from a different perspective,
or at least try, or maybe you're not going to see it or agree at all.
But my first instinct was, well, my first instinct was, what a crybaby, Raphael Devers is.
You're going to say first base.
You're going to say weenie.
It's okay.
What a weenie?
Play first base.
You're a baseball player.
you're part of the team.
They need you at first.
Then when they dished him, my first thought was good,
because he's a Yankee killer.
He has over 30 home runs against the Yankees in his career,
the highest amongst active players.
But then I heard Joe Girardi talking about it, Rich,
and it made me think a little differently.
And I just want to share that with you,
Joe Girardi, former Yankees manager and now broadcaster analyst.
Yeah.
So he's talking about it and he goes, you know, it's very common,
very common for players to refuse a manager's request.
He said, but the difference here was that it was made public.
And that's where the problem is.
He goes, as a former manager, I have plenty of experience in going up to players and saying,
hey, I need you to do X, Y, and Z or play this position.
And oftentimes they have told me I'm not comfortable doing that.
And if it's such a common thing, why are we so?
hard on Raphael Devers. And then he goes on to explain this, too. It's a very common misconception
that anyone could just get out there to first base and play. Like, hey, he fat guy.
This is a guy who's out of shape. Get on first base. We need you there. This isn't Little League
or Rock football where it's like the tall guy, lefty or fat guy could just play first base.
Now, please, that's not, it's major league baseball. This is coming from Joe Girardi, okay,
former manager. So he's sort of letting you in on the secrets.
He goes, this happens, but I'm not going to call out my player because they told me in confidence that they weren't comfortable.
I'm not going to put them somewhere where they're going to fail or feel uncomfortable.
That's going to be detrimental to them, their career, and the team.
He goes, and this story went public, and that's really the difference.
He goes, but what he said in his request is no different than what happens all the time.
And he said the biggest misconception is that first base is easy, get out there and play.
He goes, it's not easy.
It's not an easy position to learn.
And when you think about it, aside from catching,
I would say that first base is your second skill position.
You have to learn how to position yourself and cover the bag.
You have to learn how to scoop the ball.
You have to have a special glove.
There's certain things that go along with it.
So to expect Raphael Devers to just get out there and play when he's never played before
is kind of understandable, especially from a veteran.
And I was going to say leader of the team.
He didn't act like a leader in this moment,
but he's a guy who delivers.
Yeah, I mean, Kavino makes the point in that,
for all we know, pick any other star on a team.
For all you know, Bryce Harper or Lindor.
He may have been like, I'm not doing that.
Aaron Judge, they might have been like,
yo, Judge, how do you feel about, you know,
playing first base or DH or something?
He might have said, yeah, coach, for real, like,
I'm not feeling.
I know, I'm not comfortable there.
And like, okay, so we're not going to put you there.
but this became such a thing where it's like, no, but we need you there because they, again, poor planning, which he called them out on.
They had no choice but to try to get him there.
So the moment they were able to dish him, they did.
So is he right or wrong when you listen to both sides?
Is he a cry baby or did he have a point?
This is the major leagues.
This is his career.
Do you want to put somewhere where you're not going to shine your brightest and have that potential to fail?
and all of a sudden everyone's thinking you suck when meanwhile,
hey, I'm not a first basement.
I'm saying there's two ways to look at it.
There is the sentiment that you said that everyone that's a fan loves to lead with,
they're getting paid millions.
Right.
But that doesn't necessarily mean that's what's best for you,
your future, the team, everything.
Just because someone pays you millions, like if you got a contract here.
Your reputation?
If you got a contract here at Fox and it was for a really nice amount of money,
and they're like, yeah, but Kavino, what we want you to do,
is before every show,
you got to just pop on Instagram live and start dancing.
Okay.
Now, think about this.
Hold on.
Think about this, guys.
I want everyone to think about it because we're real quick.
And I, look, I can't stand Raphael Devers because he's a Yankee killer.
But I do understand that everybody has strengths and weaknesses.
Yeah.
This guy wanted to lean into his strengths and not expose himself as an unqualified, unskilled
first baseman, something he wasn't comfortable with.
So he spoke out.
And it makes him look weak.
If management did come up.
up to me and said, hey, I need you to dance because there's new trends on TikTok, and we think
that'd be great for our social media pages.
I'm like, yo, man, I'm not that comfortable being your social media clown like that.
That's not who I am.
That's not my persona.
I'm not good at that.
Maybe Rich is good at that, but I'm not good at that.
So you're asking me to do something I'm not comfortable with.
So is he wrong?
Is he a crybaby or not?
Because we have another cry baby story in the news.
And by the way, you would not dance on social media.
You know why?
Rich, because that's not my strength.
The difference, though, Kavino would be if my strength is doing what we do here on the air.
If the boss then said, yeah, I get it Kavino.
That's not you.
Versus then went out and said, can you believe Kavino won't be a team player in dance?
And that's what happened.
And that's what happened.
And when Joe Jorari is saying that happens all the time, it just doesn't go public because he wants to protect his players and vice versa.
doesn't that make you think a little bit?
I mean, it's coming from Gerardy.
He has a little experience here.
Even on the simplest term, sometimes we're asked,
are you guys willing to do this commercial read?
I'm always like, yeah, sure, cool.
But imagine there was a host that's like,
I don't want to do that one,
and then the boss made a deal about it.
There's not, there's not, it's not always a yes.
Yeah.
It's not.
Sometimes they'll throw things my way.
I'm like, yeah, I don't feel comfortable doing that.
I don't.
So why do we expect, why do we?
we have this misconception. I'm Steve Kavino
for butt cream. We have a misconception
that just because
he's a fat guy, Rafael
Devers, or he's not
that svelt, let's put it that way,
that he should go out there and
he's scooping him up like he's Mark Tashara.
It's a skill position.
How to
straddle the bag is another thing.
How to position yourself. How to stretch.
He wasn't willing to do it. But guess what?
He's not the only crybaby.
Quote, unquote, crybaby in sports.
There's another story we're going to get to.
Yeah, a story in the NFL, and it's the reason why a star player, a guy on the rise, said, you know, I'm done.
I'm retiring.
So, again, we'll get to that next.
We're going to play a fun game.
Quote me.
We'll talk about spectacles.
And, you know, hey, you got NHL Stanley Cup game six tonight.
So a lot to talk about here.
Spectacles and sports.
We're not going to talk like Ben Franklin or anything.
Spectacles and sports.
Who are a great one, the one eye spectacle, the monocle?
The Monopoly guy.
The Monopoly.
No, we're not going to talk about that.
But we got a lot.
That's a misconception.
He never wore one.
The Planner Peanut wears a spectacle.
Oh, wow.
All right, we got more, Camino and Rich.
Next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
So I'm so pumped to be rocking my Travis Matthew gear in Vegas this weekend.
We're broadcasting live from Circa on Friday.
Big party, Kavino and Rich celebrating.
Got to wear your best, especially at our golf event.
You know I'm rocking that.
Travis Matthew golf shirt I got.
I'm telling you, I'm assuming that if everyone's going to, everyone's looking down at my pants,
first of all, I'm assuming if they're checking me out.
What they be doing that?
To see my featherweight jeans that I'm wearing from the Travis Matthew collection.
I'm like, hey, what does everyone looking at?
Listen, best jeans I've ever had in my life.
You said the polo shirts are great.
The t-shirts are so soft.
That cloud collection, the MLB collection.
It got so much great stuff.
By the way, speaking of that cloud collection, that, like, lightweight sweater.
So nice.
So perfectly fitted.
So if you want to up your style, up your game,
they have branched out to clearly not just golf stuff.
They got sweet shoes and jeans and buttoned up.
It's great.
I was getting at something too.
We have this big party.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, for people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking
down everything happening at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really
takes to win on clay.
Genshin win.
I mean, she went down in three to Roebuckina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.
And I actually can win on any surface.
Because if she's serving, well, good luck.

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,

Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey.
I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across.
When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud.
But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how.
How long can their empire survive?
The largest tax investigation in American history.
You need to tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?
Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life.

Devers was like, I can't go for that.
I can't go for that.
Kavino and Rich, live from the Fox Sports Radio Stadium.
studio. Stadium swim
Friday. That's what you're thinking about. I can't
go for that. Oh.
Yo, I'm telling you, Darrell Hall and
Baba Bowie really slayed it on this one.
Now, that wasn't Baba Bowie.
Yeah, it is. It's Darrell
Hall and Gary Delabate.
Looks like everybody knows.

Our sweet spot is logistic roles.
And Express never charges job seekers

Later on. Sam has his, is that a turtle shirt? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's in the
vein, but it's actually for a tire shop in my hometown. Look at that. I thought you were a
fan of the porn. Did you ever see the porn version? No. I did not. Rich has. And of course,
Dan Byer. You've never seen it? What is it called again? Ten-inch mutant. What is it? Yeah,
Yeah, you got it. Yeah, there's a version of it.
I was not expecting that question.
One of our listeners sent it to us once.
So we're like, what is this?
Whoa.
We sit down and watch this.
O'Neill.
Now, we're going to talk about cry babies and sports or continuing this conversation.
He did.
In exchange for Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison,
James Tibbs.
And some cracker jacks at a Jose Bello.
Yeah.
Some ice cream in helmet.
Prospects.
No one of significant.
because the Red Sox are like, dude, you're a crime baby,
and we want you to be a team player.
But Joe Girardi made me think differently.
He said that there's a misconception that anyone could get out there
and play first base at a major league level.
And that players often came to him to express that they're not comfortable doing certain things.
So it's not out of the norm.
And it made me double think.
So your thoughts on that.
However, there is an update on the Devere's story because I don't know if you saw this.
as of today,
Craig Breslow, a Red Sox executive,
has been getting all sorts of threats
from making this deal.
And he's trying to put the fires out,
saying, no, we're confident this.
This is all going to work out in the future
because whether you like Devers or not,
he produced for the Red Sox move over Nico Harrison.
Yeah, and am I right?
An angry fan released his address publicly.
Yeah, so it's not been taken kindly.
The Red Sox,
Got rid of Babe Ruth.
They got rid of.
No ma.
No ma.
No ma.
No bets.
And now Raphael Devers.
Again, this guy is a slugger.
He just didn't want to play first and it rubbed people the wrong way.
So your thoughts when you really think about it and when you put yourself in his cleats,
do you want to do things you're not comfortable with?
I thought of this before we get to the other story about the NFL.
This is not just sports.
If you got hired for a job.
And by the way, he was a big dog.
That's like you think big dog.
here at Fox Sports, right?
You think they would all of a sudden
want to do the overnight shift because they
needed them to? They'd be like, yo,
I've been here hitting home runs forever.
Colin, you're going to be on a 10 p.m. every night.
You think, well, we need you, Colin. We're short on state.
You think he'd be like, well, sure.
I think you'd have something to say about it.
Guess who's not on at that hour?
Stars like me.
So I'm just trying to, like I said,
I'm not in a business of defending this guy. I hate him.
but I do see a little bit of his side when you think about it from that perspective.
Well, then again, there are people that do roll with the punches.
Danny J.
You're a big hip-hop guy.
You're a big music guy.
Does it stun you sometimes when sometimes there's such a good thing going on?
A rock band, a hip-hop group, and there's like creative differences.
And you're like, oh, man, you got something so good.
You can't just get along and roll with it.
Some people have a harder time rolling with it.
the punches. Like you might argue, yo, Raphael Devers, you couldn't roll with the punches.
You couldn't, you couldn't just, you know, welcome the new guy. We got another superstar in the
lineup for you. Some people just are like, no, I'm not going to roll with the punches.
That's what I do. That's what I do. I went to die da-sie. And now there's another crime baby in the
world of sports. Well, it happened a year ago, but we finally got to the bottom of this.
He was a pro bowler for your Raiders, Danny G. But again,
tight end. Keep that in mind.
Darren Wallen. One of my favorite
players on the Raiders at the time.
Unfortunately, he ran into a lot of injuries.
Yeah, you know, for a minute. He also got
sidetracked with a hip-hop career, speaking of hip-hop,
if you could call it a career.
My mom's a Raiders fan like you, and I remember her being like,
I love Darren Waller.
A great dude and really, really good
tight end. But he was
from the practice squad in Baltimore,
and Gruden helped him
elevate all the way up to
one of the best tight ends in the country.
Brock Bowers made you forget about that guy.
But, but the story came out when he got traded to the Raiders,
there was a reason why he ended up retiring.
What's the Lions, you mean?
Did I say what I say?
He got traded to the Giators to the Giators to the Giants.
That's what I meant.
We were running like this counter lead running play.
And I'm kind of like leading through the hole like I'm a fullback.
And the play is working.
But I sit down on the sideline after like a drive where he ran like three times.
And I'm like, what the what I'm doing with my life?
I'm out here playing full back.
I don't even want to do this anymore.
And I'm just like looking at the moon.
It's like early first quarter, second quarter.
Nobody else would really even know that I'm thinking this.
But I'm going to finish this year with the best of my ability.
But I'm definitely done playing after this year.
So that's Darren Waller again, who decided to retire after the Giants made him play fullback against the bills.
So again, another guy resistant to play a different position, tight end.
He had experience as a tight end.
But then again, when you grow up and you're a professional,
you probably have experience all over the place, right?
But again, at a professional level, could be a big ask.
So crybaby or not, based on the whole Devers story, refusing to play first.
Obviously, he was bitter about Bregman.
You got Darren Waller now admitting why he decided to retire.
How do you feel about it?
Are these cry babies in sports or do you see their side?
I think we made a case.
I think we made a case for both sides of it.
like your inability to roll with the punches on a highest level of what you do versus,
hey, listen, if you're a big star, you might say, well, guess who doesn't have to roll with the punches?
The big star.
Should Raphael Devers the best player on the Red Sox before they get Bregman?
Should the best player have to, quote, roll with the punches?
That's what I'm saying.
So there are two sides, right?
There's two sides to the story.
We're quick to see one.
That was sort of the point.
And I got to credit, again, Joe Girardi, for making me at least see it in a different way.
but I think it depends who you are.
But then again, there's always the mooky bets of the world that just,
they're just awesome at everything.
Yeah.
And they just excel everywhere they go.
But you know what?
Not everybody's like mooky bets.
That's the other thing.
Not everybody's good at that.
Not everybody's as versatile as mooky bets as it makes them great.
Let's go to Mitch in New Jersey.
Mitch, are you looking at it as cry babies or listen, I'm a big star
player, I don't want to play
just anywhere you tell me.
How are you guys doing?
We're good, man. What's up?
Oh, is that weekend?
Hey, thank you, man.
I traded him because
Monty's okay, but he's going to tell him
it was clear that you'll get Josh Nail.
But I think he does not right.
The age is pretty boring. First
base, you know, and I get that much
action activity, the age.
But the third place is hardcore, and he
should get some leeway. All these other
dogs get good preference.
You know, Mitch, you just made me
You know what?
Mitch just, all he said that I needed to hear was.
Oh, I heard it was, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
No, I heard hot corner.
Oh, hot corner.
When you play an infield position and you've honed your abilities to be like,
you know, I'm an infielder, man.
If your team that you signed a big deal with is like, yeah, that's not you anymore,
is he pretty much saying like, yeah, that's not me anymore.
You know what I'm saying or no?
Not really.
All right.
He at his mind is I'm a left side of the infield guy.
I can handle that hop.
I got the hot corner.
It's a very reaction position.
And now you're telling them,
yeah, like you're so,
as long as you're with this organization,
yeah, that's not you anymore.
You're a D.H.
You're gonna play first base.
Yeah, he didn't want to do that.
Like that's sort of an adjustment.
That would be,
hey, guess what? You know what?
You're making exceptions for Shohoi Otani.
No one really, do you really want to pitch
and take that risk?
Yeah, I know you're paying him a lot of money,
but it's also him saying, no, I'm a pitcher, and this is what I want to do.
So they're like, okay, whatever you say, Shohay, you know,
Devers is a big star in Boston.
I don't know about Waller.
Do you think that with the Giants, it was them stepping on his toes?
Or should he have?
I think he wasn't what he was.
He wasn't a big star with the Giants at the time.
This was 2023, his eighth year in the league.
Yeah.
Yeah, he was about a year and a half removed from Pro Bowl form.
at that time.
Right.
With some injuries.
You know,
Camino,
I had one more analogy
because I'm going to...
I think that was almost
a reality check of like,
oh, I guess I'm not the superstar
tight end that I once was.
They got me here a fullback.
It was like a realization he had in that moment to,
I guess I should retire.
I'm going to beat this horse to death with one 10 second analogy.
Then we'll go to Dan Byer for an update.
You've been playing rock music from the early 2000s on K-Rock in New York.
And outside of Fox Sports Radio,
you're a turbo octane, Ozzie's Boneyard.
You're a rock guy outside of sports you love rock.
Yeah.
What if Sirius XM, your side hustle was like, yeah, yeah, Kvino, that's great.
We're putting you on prime country.
That's a great example.
I'd be like, yeah, look, respectfully, that's not what I do.
I'm not comfortable doing it.
You want to be a team player?
What am I?
Hopalong Kavino?
Hop along Stevie with your country hits.
I don't know anything about country.
What are you not a team player?
And I'm like, yeah, but I'm a veteran.
I've been doing this a long time.
Why do I got to do that?
Didn't we see this in the Howard Stern movie when he went to Detroit?
He turned it to hop a long.
Halway.
Yeah.
But here's the thing, and it always comes back to this.
It always comes back to this.
Two things, actually.
Well, it's a team sport.
Are you a team player or not?
And then it always comes back to you.
But we're paying you so much money.
Do what?
Look like an ass clown on a high level?
No doubt.
DB.
What's going on, man?
Damn by.
What's up, fellas?
Let's just get right into it.
Tyree's Halliburton of the Pacers.
Dealing with a reported calf strain.
That's reporting to ESPN.
He's going to have an MRI.
And then at that point, the Pacers,
will determine the severity of the injury and figure out a plan going forward.
It's got a couple of days. Game 6 isn't until Thursday night in Indianapolis with the Thunder
up 3-2 in the series. Oilers and Panthers skate in game 6 tonight of the Stanley Cup final.
8 o'clock Eastern time. Panthers are up 3-2. A win tonight gives them back to back
Stanley Cups. If Edmonton wins, they go back to Edmonton for a game 7.
Oilers, by the way, are going back to Stuart Skinner. He is in goal for tonight's contest.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monaghan will be stepping down following with the
the 2026 PGA tour season.
Hall of Famous skipper Joe Torrey will serve as an honorary coach for the American League during next month's
All-Star game in Atlanta.
Aaron Boone staff will also include Guardians manager Stephen Fote.
As for the NL staff, managed by Dave Roberts, he'll be joined by the Braves Brian Snitker
and the Marlins Clayton McCullough, who was once the Dodgers first base coach, including
last season's championship run.
College World Series, Oregon State is just homered on the top of the ninth inning,
but they're only within two of Louisville right now in the elimination game.
Six-four Cardinals over the Beavers again in Omaha in the top of the ninth.
Guys, back to you.
Thank you, D.B.
Oh, thanks, D.B.
By the way, Raphael Devers just announced as a Red Sock.
He said he changed numbers for anyone.
I know you love those type of things.
He was a giant.
It goes from number 11 as a Red Sox to number 16.
Interesting.
We're in their City Connect hat too, which is really weird.
I noticed that.
By the way, Dan, by, that's why you and I are.
I noticed that too.
We notice those things.
Like, what introductory press conference?
He's wearing their weird city connect?
All right, cool.
It did look out.
All right.
Well, hey, we got more Kavino and Rich.

Covino and Rich.
You ready?
You ready for this weekend?
Friday and Saturday?
Vegas.
Covino and Rich.
Four different events, four different parties.
Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night.
Oh, and we're going to come back with stories.
So don't you worry.
You're going to hear it live on Friday from Circa,
but Danny G's going to be there.
Sam's going to be there.
Mike who runs this place is coming to party with us later on.
Who?
Yeah.
A lot of Fox Sports Radio staff can be partied with us.
So we'll give you the details, the scoop, who gets drunk, who gets sloppy, you'll hear about it.
By the way, I would say I'm true that you and Mike who runs this place are driving to Vegas together.
That is correct.
Oh, yeah.
Stories, bro.
How is that not going to be live streamed the whole time?
I can't wait.
So thank you for being part of fun.
It's going to be lots of fun.
Dan Byer, can I pay you to be in that car or no way?
You couldn't pay me enough.
Torture.
Who gets control the radio?
Dan would have to ride in the truck bed.
We're taking Mike's truck.
Sham, that is not correct.
Iowa does not produce the third most amount of chestnuts in the United States.
Yeah, there's be some real heated discussions for sure.
Right now, Kavino and Rich are live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio, and it's time for our tire rack play of the day.
All eyes, we're on Otani's arm last night.
Otani's 28th pitch, a 1-1 to Bogartz.
A chopper to the left side.
Muncie charging along the line in the glove,
throws on the run.
Freeman stretches in time to get him.
And so that will strand arise.
But the Padres do get one.
Now, the Mani Machado sacrifice fly
following the back-to-back singles
to greet Shohei Otani in his Dodger pitching debut in 2025.
Just cool to see him back on the hill.
This time, obviously, for the first time with the Dodgers,
he did his part with his bat, though.

Again, we're Covino and Rich.
Everything at Covino Enrich.
And to wrap up our first hour, Darren Waller,
decided to retire after the New York football Giants
made him play fullback against the bills.
He was a tight end.
He's like, what am I doing playing fullback?
And it sort of ties into Raphael Devers saying,
yo, I'm a veteran, the star of the team,
and you're asking me to play first base,
I don't want to.
And because of la resistance, one player retires,
this guy gets traded,
and today they introduce.
him as a San Francisco giant.
But, you know, your thoughts on people saying, no, I'm not comfortable with this.
The change of scenery, the change of position.
Well, what have we learned over the years?
Cry baby, you're not.
Everything you say yes to means you're saying no to something else.
So by saying yes to that, he's saying no to doing what he really wants, and that's play
infield.
All right.
Bruno, real quick, you got 30 seconds.
What's up, Brooklyn?
I'll make it fast.
Hey, listen, I just, I never, I rarely side with the player, but I got to say,
Toughest position of the hottest position besides the catcher on that field.
He's the most actionist's first base.
And if you're not comfortable there, it's not good.
And I think he was okay, not wanting to do it.
But because of the value of the player he is,
they should have made some sort of immense for him to move off onto a different position
or keep his current position.
But I'll side with him.
Yeah, he meant a lot to the fans, to the team.
And look, I'm glad as Yankees fan that he's got.
Danny, don't look now.
the team two games behind the Dodgers in the NL West
now got Raphael Devers in that lineup.
So the Giants look at a lot better as of right now.
All right, we got more.
CNR next right here.

Join me, Renee Stubbs,
on the Renee Stubbs Tennis Podcasts
for no nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches,

And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lernerabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now
and I actually can win on any surface.
