This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

What's up, guys?
This is Clivert Taylor the Fourth.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, Rhett, my mama want you to weigh better.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs.
We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season.
And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed.
you just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven,
Mark keep coming to her.
He's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeartRadio app,

Or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching

Oh, here we go. It is a unique Monday live in Los Angeles. This is the herd. Wherever you
may be and however you may be listening, we're on IHeart radio all week. We're on Fox Sports
Radio all week. We're on Sirius XM Channel 83 all week. And we'll be on posting on
social platforms like Twitter today and throughout the course of the week will not be on television.
My television employer, FS1, Fox Sports, has decided for the next week minimum to not put us on television.
That's a company decision.
We learned that last week.
I think it was Thursday night, Friday morning, posted that.
But the show goes on.
if there is any situation where I feel uncomfortable even doing a show from this radio place,
where I'm at in a small studio, then I can do it from home.
I'm set up for that.
So I'll be here talking and hopefully comforting on what is a day that there's a lot of NFL news.
I know some people think, you know, wow, the optics, you can't worry about optics.
The NFL has no games going on.
right now is a paperwork time for the NFL.
There's no reason not to do business.
You can't worry about what Twitter says and be paralyzed by that and the tyranny of the Twitter mob.
I have no problem with the NFL saying, listen, it's paperwork, it's free agency.
You know, we're going to offer contracts to certain people.
A lot of players getting paid.
The reason the CBA got approved, players, they don't want to push off the new year.
They want to get paid.
A lot of guys getting paid.
So the first big news today is DAC.
Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys has officially been franchise tag.
Now, that means nobody else is allowed to sign him.
No other team can.
And they have until July, they can still do a deal with him.
But it appears Jerry Jones has said, this is our price.
$33 million.
And a lot of the media, I see the world differently to most fans in media.
I have never been one of those guys that wants my favorite star player to get paid.
I want my team to be nimble.
If you're a cowboy fan,
Dax never going to buy you a beer.
Forget giving you any money, so what do you care?
What do you care?
They offered him $33 million.
He said, no, God love America.
If you can in America,
in a state with no income tax,
turn down $33 million a year.
It's a great country.
Right now it's a country dealing with the coronavirus,
but it is a great country.
Jerry Jones is not a cheap owner.
This is not a Cincinnati.
Bingle situation. Jerry Jones pays his stars. Jerry Jones recently has paid his stars early,
Jalen Smith. He paid a running back. Nobody pays a running back. Today the Titans are franchising
Derek Henry. They don't want to pay a running back. Jerry paid his running back two years early.
But as I've said, I think franchise tagging him is the move for Dak Prescott.
when he against New England and Philadelphia
had the better old line, the better running back, the better receivers,
and in two games, eight quarters, zero touchdown drives.
Zero.
Zero.
Lost both games.
I'm franchise tagging him.
People will say this morning, well, he did, Dak deserves.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
This is not a deserves league.
It's an Earn League.
How good is Dak today?
He's not elite.
today. Well, Colin, his rookie year, awesome, four years ago, Obama was president.
Sort of a different time now, right? We'd all agree with that.
Different White House today.
Doesn't matter what he did four years ago. A lot of things happened four years ago.
Stock market was rolling four years ago, down 2,000 points today.
Well, he outperformed his draft spot.
Yeah. Most players don't.
He did. Teams for the record have a right to occasionally get lucky. Seattle got lucky for several years.
Because, by the way, a lot of you guys in the first round fail, a lot of you guys in the second round fail, a lot of you guys don't work hard enough. A lot of you are busts. Oh, gosh, a team actually gets lucky occasionally.
What do you know? Seattle got lucky with Russell Wilson. But Russell Wilson got paid because Russell Wilson with a bad O line and with below average, often undrafted wide receivers.
Every year, playoffs, Super Bowls, outperformed his contract and had to carry his team.
Nobody's ever asked Dak to carry this team.
Best running back, best O-line, good receivers.
He's just been asked to drive the car and not drive it into a tree.
Russell Wilson has been asked to carry the franchise offensively.
And he has.
Yes.
Yes, he had a great rookie year.
And yes, he outperformed his draft spot.
Yes.
All right.
most guys don't.
And it should be noted, they're not telling him to get lost.
They are offering him $33 million a year, $105 million guaranteed.
And God bless America.
He's like, nah, not good enough.
It's a great country.
This is not about the Cowboys.
They have offered him a contract.
And it is a little bit more than I would want to pay him at $33 million,
but it's a reasonable contract.
because if you think I'm wrong, ask yourself today.
Arm size accuracy, athletic ability.
Is he elite in any of them?
Nope.
He is not elite in any tangible quality.
His intangibles are great.
That's fine.
If I ran Google and had an engineer and his tangibles, let's say his intangibles were great.
He shows up to work.
He's loyal.
He's committed.
He's a good guy.
Everybody likes him.
His intangibles are great.
He's pretty good leader.
but his contract was up and I said is he a brilliant engineer will he change the world
no that I'm not going to pay him what I'm paying Russell Wilson I'm not going to pay him
what I'm paying Russell Wilson so just just ask yourself basic questions well Colin
Dax done everything right I saw that today posted on Twitter he's done everything right
at Philly at New England that was right no time
touchdowns, eight quarters, that was right?
Ask yourself this morning.
Is DAC Elite?
Elite.
And if so, where?
Against winning teams?
That was 1 in 6 last year.
Arm no.
Size no.
Athletic ability, no.
Is DAC elite?
No.
So why am I going to pay him?
I don't like Kirk Cousins contract.
He's got better stats since he became a Viking.
And he's making less than DAC.
31 million today is New Deal.
And I don't even like that deal.
And you think it's unfair for Dak.
The Cowboys and the Jones family have a right, just like my boss does,
to set a price based on what they feel my value is.
I think the price is right.
Dak turned it down.
They franchise tagged it.
I think it's incredibly fair.
And I don't think the story today is, this is outrageous.
I think the story today for Dak Prescott is what a country we live in.
But a young man, early 20s, can be offered $33 million a year, no state tax.
You think Tony Romo's contract's big, double it.
You've been reading about that?
Double it.
And Dak Prescott's like, it's not good enough.
That's a great country to live in.
Let me shift to this.
And thank you so much for joining us today.
I know all of our lives have been sort of.
have unraveled a bit, mine included.
And it's not done.
I said this last week on, I believe, Thursday.
This is not a two-week story.
It is a two, two, three-month story.
It's a spring-summer story.
The market's going to be up and down.
There's going to be limitations to what we can do.
I think the social distancing is the right call.
I said that last week.
And we'll get through it.
But I want to talk about this for a second.
if the NFL players this weekend approved the new CBA.
So 2030, we'll all get a little nervous that we don't get football.
We are good now for a decade.
And I think it's funny, you know, I've been watching a lot of this debate stuff in politics.
Everybody hates the one percenters.
You ever notice that?
Tax their edge.
Living in a bubble.
These people cannot relate to any of us.
Fear the burn!
We hate one-percenters.
Yet the NFL this weekend said,
we're going to strike a deal.
It's not great for the one-percenters.
It's not great for Aaron Rogers, JJ Watt.
It's actually for the middle class and below of the NFL.
Now, context here.
The scout team guys in the NFL make three times with this new deal,
three to four times what the average family makes.
So it's a great deal by any other reasonable standard.
But the NFL owners took care of the middle class and below.
And you know what I read on Twitter?
A terrible deal.
Aren't you the same guy whining about the 1%?
The NFL did not take care of the 1%.
They took care of middle class America, middle class guys and shoulder pads.
They took care of their poorest, their scout team, their backup offensive linemen.
That's why this passed.
that's a majority of the NFL. The majority of the NFL is not JJ Y. The NBA, it's different.
The NBA's CBA takes care of its stars, the top 1%, which I've never quite understood because
the NBA and golf are the only two sports where you can make more money if you're great in your
apparel than you can in your sport. Phil Mickelson's made far more money out of golf than winning
tournaments. Same with Tiger Woods. Arnold Palmer didn't make squat winning golf tournaments. He
made a fortune, pens oil spots and golf course design.
Same with Jack Nicholas.
And NBA guys, you don't really need to take care of your top 1%.
Because the top 1% Michael Jordan makes more now shoes than he did when he played.
It's an apparel league.
But they take care of their stars.
Everybody loves that on Twitter.
Well, that's the 1% you keep railing against.
Make your mind up on this, folks.
I've never demonized wealth.
I don't have a problem people getting wealthy.
I don't resent billionaires or millionaires.
But the NFL said, we're not going to really take care of our star quarterbacks.
They're already going to make $35 million a year.
And unlike 15 years ago, now the top players in the NFL all have commercials.
I can remember 15 years ago, Donovan McNad had a chunky soup commercial.
And I remember saying this on the air, I'm like, you ever notice how few NFL stars have commercials?
NBA guys are everywhere.
Now it's changed.
You cannot turn on a commercial during the NFL season on any network.
It's NFL's Baker Mayfield's on a losing franchise.
He's got eight.
So the NFL's like, we don't need to take care of Mahomes and Russell.
They're going to make their money.
We want to take care of the average guy in the league.
They did and people complain about it.
It's funny to me.
make your mind up.
Do you resent the 1%?
Are you for the middle class?
The NFL's middle class was rewarded this weekend.
It remains the NFL, the best run league.
The NFLPA, the Players Association,
you know, they got bonuses due.
Everybody's like, oh, the owners want to wrap this stuff up.
I got news for you.
The NFLPA wanted to wrap it up.
They didn't want to push back the start of the new year.
You see all those contracts?
being handed it out this morning?
Billionaires don't need that.
They're the ones paying it.
So this idea of all the owners were rushing it through.
NFLPA was like, yeah, we're going.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Wasn't the owners?
It was the players.
Baseball, I also read this this morning.
Well, it's the weakest union.
Yeah, thank God.
The Major League Baseball Union is so strong,
it took them forever to test for steroids.
steroids were illegal in America.
Baseball, union.
They couldn't test for it forever.
NFL's union isn't as strong.
You know what else isn't as strong throughout America?
Unions, because people like to get stuff done.
And sometimes it's harder with unions.
And I'm currently in a sag after union.
And it doesn't help me much,
but it certainly helps people I work with,
and that's good.
But, you know, you sit around with this NFL all,
the time and I watch all the political stuff.
Bernie Sanders would have loved that new NFL
CBA.
They loved it.
It took care of everybody but the 1%ers.
And like everything in the world now,
the silent majority of the players liked it.
The people who are vocal on social media
don't like it. But don't just tell me it was
owners rushing to get this done. The NFLPA
wanted to get it done too.
And it was a vote
like every vote in America. It was divided.
It was right down the middle, barely passed, just like our elections.
Hillary got more votes.
Donald won the electoral college.
I mean, everything we're voting on now is divided.
We're a divided country.
And that's fine.
Okay?
That's fine.
What's not fine is, you know, the coronavirus worries me.
Votes going right down the middle don't bother me.
That means you have two strong sets of opinions.
And Malcolm Jenkins is a real smart guy for the Eagles.
he came out and he's like, listen, it's not going to make everybody happy.
Listen, I've negotiated, I think about 12 different contracts.
Radio, TV, I got several contracts, right?
I never get everything I want.
I'm never totally satisfied.
I'm mostly satisfied.
And I come in with realistic expectations.
Here's the number I want.
Here's what I want.
I'll take less here.
Give me more there.
Give me freedom here.
Give me some ownership here.
I'll take less here.
Give me vacation here.
I'm not a big guy.
I don't worry much about vacation time, right?
Give me some Fridays off after football.
A lot of people.
people want more vacation.
That's not something I seek.
So, I mean, I've never been, I've never signed a contract walked out and like, yeah,
dominated my bosses.
For the record, my bosses have never walked out of their negotiations and thought we
dominated that coward guy.
It's, you know, you give some, you take some.
That's the way it works, just the way the CBA worked.
Good stuff today.
It's nice to have you in, obviously.
There will be another press conference.
I will say this.
I like Mike Pence doing a majority of the talking.
He's been very good at these press conferences.
I'd like to see more of Mike Pence talking.
I'll just leave it at that.
I thought I'd say that.
Not a fascinating guy,
but I'd like to see more Mike Pence and the doctor's talking.
So there'll be another press conference today.
I think it's smart to have these daily White House kind of press conferences and briefings.
Coming up next, what do you know?
the Tom Brady offers are all drying up.
What do you know?
That's coming up.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard Radio app.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so rapid.
up in the chase, that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you
hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano,
and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest players.
to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the
challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have
Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then
he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends
stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
All right, welcome back.
Jeer the Amari Cooper News.
Goulet, I'll do the update before you.
He hit the market.
Cowboys couldn't get a deal done.
Amari Cooper's out there.
They're still working on a deal, though,
because they can still sign him as a free agent,
and they're apparently close.
And that's not what I'm hearing.
When buying a car, the process can be overwhelming.
Better way to do it, True car.
Compare models, options, discovery, to pricing to reviews, True car.
By the way, I, it's funny now.
I've been so conditioned over the last week not to touch my face and my nose itches.
I'm searching for a napkin.
This is really quite an inconvenience.
Peter King will be joining us this hour.
So, you know, I always say whatever gets out, people want out.
When news gets out, people want it out.
Otherwise, it wouldn't get out.
I've had all sorts of things in my life where I've had media critics call me,
and I don't let it get out because I don't want it out.
So when stuff gets out, it's because somebody, some party wants it out.
Well, Tom Brady, well, what do you know?
The Raiders and the 49ers, according to stories today, and not really interested in Brady.
Hmm.
They're all drying up.
According to Chris Sims, it's down to Tampa Bay in New England.
A lot of these stories, we said this with Tom Brady were, they were Tom Brady driven, agent-driven.
and me, and to get Tom leverage.
He's a 42, 43-year-old quarterback, not mobile, almost every coach I've talked to,
every GM, every scout, everybody wants to move their pocket.
Jimmy Garoppolo is about the baseline limited, limit, the low, lowest level mobility
anybody wants right now is a Kirk Cousins or a Jimmy Garoppolo, where you can move,
you can move the pocket, bootleg it, rollout, you know, cousins and Garoppolo can do that.
it's not really what they're built for, but they can do it.
Brady can't.
That's not what he can do.
Nobody's looking.
This is an owner situation.
So from day one, I said, when you hear all these Raiders and you hear the Chargers and you hear
Tampa Bay, it's not the coaches.
Bruce Ariens is not looking for a 42-year-old quarterback who can't move.
It's an ownership situation.
By the way, this was driven by, you know, the Tennessee rumor.
Mike Vrable's his buddy, puts it out there.
drops it to somebody.
It helps the Titans, by the way.
Because now they can go to Ryan Tanniel and say, this is what we're offering.
Brady may be coming.
Mutually beneficial for Tennessee to leak it.
And then Tom gets, you know, maybe more money.
Maybe it helps Tom.
The media people, Tom Brady trusts.
There are people in the area in Boston.
Tom Curran perhaps is one that Brady trusts.
He gets information.
John Gruden of the Raiders and Brady know each.
other. Boy, that, that rumor came out strong. And we had fun with it for the last month. I mean,
you know this if you've listened to me. When the Super Bowl ends, there's about a six-week period.
We're right in the middle of it now, where it's pretty slow. God love the NFL. How slow would
it be now? So, you know, we had fun playing around with Brady. We did 15 stories on him.
You know, we played Tom andos. Domino's, Tom and those. Domino's, Tom Brady. We played Tomonos every day. So, but
suddenly all the offers dried up. It was a fun game of poker, but there is no royal flush,
there is no straight. It's a seven and two off suit. There's nothing there. My prediction has
always been New England's the favorite. I do believe today that the Chargers are making a run.
Doug Gottlieb didn't agree with me, but I think Trey Turner, a random deal by itself on an
Island two weeks ago to get the one position the Chargers are below league average at Guard
solved was a signal.
And that signal to Brady is, Tom, we patched up the guard spot.
We're going to let you think about this.
We're not going to just make promises like the Patriots getting another wide receiver.
We're going to solve our dilemma.
And then, oh, by the way, today, when you're legally allowed to start talking, right?
You call Don Yee?
you run the Chargers and say,
we'll take a left tackle with our first pick.
That's our second biggest hole.
So I believe the Chargers, Dean Spanos,
they need to sell tickets,
they need relevance, and they need a quarterback.
He solves all three.
And I don't, you know, they could draft Justin Herbert.
My feeling is just from what I'm reading and hearing
is the Chargers are not as high
on Justin Herbert, perhaps, as some people think.
So, but the,
These stories get out when somebody wants them out.
Now, there's another story today.
Tom Brady and the Patriots, the end seems near, according to Tom Curran.
Is that another story to help Brady?
All I know is this.
I work in the radio TV media business.
Every time somebody that has a decent audience, their contract is up,
I hear rumors about somebody else wanting them.
And I'm not going to name any names.
But you know, you see it in college football.
Saban wants a better deal.
He loses to Auburn.
All of a sudden, Saban to Texas.
Four-year deal.
Nine million a year pops up, Alabama.
You know, John Calipari, every time I can always tell when his contract is up.
Because there's a rumor he's going to, you know, it was UCLA last time.
It's the NBA.
I can always tell when a guy's contracts up.
Calapari, Nick Saban.
You know what I can tell?
Because rumors.
Radio TV guys.
I'll say, oh, this guy's going to DeZone.
And I'm thinking, not really.
Why would the zone want?
He doesn't really fit that.
I see that all the time.
My business.
Ah, guys going here.
This guy, she's going there.
And all it tells me is, oh, contracts up.
Let's put stuff out in the market.
So, Tom Brady stuff's drying up.
I think he's a patriot.
Chris Sims thinks he could be a buccaneer.
And I do think the Chargers is a perfect fit for his current 42-year-old skill.
set. They pats the guard up, draft the tackle. It's Noah's Ark, baby. They got two backs,
two receivers, tight ends, two pass rushers, two good corners. They got everything. They got everything
with the chargers. You can look at last year and go they were bad. Look at the year before. They were
great. And with Patrick Mahomes in that division, nothing against Tyrod Taylor. That's not,
that's not what they're going to go up against. They're not going to have Tyrod Taylor go up against
Patrick Mahomes twice next year. He can win games. He's the perfect backup. You're
starters out for two games, he can win you one.
Here's veteran newsman, John Goulet with the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, so Colin, the franchise tag deadline has come and gone.
These are the guys that we know got franchise.
Obviously, Dak Prescott received the franchise tag.
The Steelers tagged Pass rest for Bud Dupree.
Giants tag defensive tackle Leonard Williams.
The Bucks tag Shaq Barrett.
The chiefs officially tagged Chris Jones.
We already knew that was going to happen.
The Bengals tagged AJ Green.
here are the two big ones.
The Titans franchise tag Derek Henry.
He's a running back.
He's a running back.
So he's only going to make $10 million this year,
which is a pretty good deal for a guy who led the league in yards and touchdowns last season.
Long-term deal with the running back is tough.
That's a big name.
And by getting the deal done with Tanna Hill, they were able to do that.
This was the other interesting run.
I don't know if you saw this.
The Patriots tagged their guard Joe Tuny.
Yeah, he's their best old lineman.
Right.
No one expected that to happen.
There was a bunch of teams that were planning on getting a shot at him.
Everyone thought he would be too much money.
About $15 million what the franchise tag cost the Patriots.
Nobody thought the Patriots were willing to pay that for him.
You wonder if that was a, hey, Tom, we got you.
Like we can't go get AJ Green for you anymore.
He's off the market.
We will keep your best offensive line.
Get something.
I think this stuff, it isn't everything, but it's something.
Trey Turner isn't everything.
No.
But you can't tell me the Chargers sign that deal.
Two weeks before any other deal, there wasn't some significance in the timing.
and we had some news this morning about the NFL draft.
It will proceed at the normal dates.
It was scheduled for April 23rd to 25th.
However, it will be canceled to or the, sorry, the public events will be canceled.
Yeah.
So it will not have the big crowd.
The league is exploring innovative ways for how the process will be conducted.
It's a unique event where it's one of the few things in sports right now.
You can hold with, because you don't need to have, it's a public event now, but it doesn't need to be.
That's right.
It used to be held in.
a smoke-filled conference room
with Mel Kiper on the side yelling about
stuff. You can just have it where
we'll invite a few players, we'll have it close
to the public, and we'll still have an NFL draft.
Mel Kuiper is usually in rooms that are smoke-filled
and he's yelling at people. So, I mean, that just nothing
changes, right?
That's the news.
John Goulet with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd-line news.
Listen, I've learned over time. I'm not offended by a lot.
I'm not sure why. Maybe I should be
offended by more. It doesn't
bother me that the NFL draft will go on his schedule. It doesn't bother me. It doesn't bother me
that it's business as usual this morning. I think, you know, I'm a sports guy. Their league is
not in play. I think baseball and basketball did the right thing, March Madness. We advocated
all the cancellation of basketball and baseball, March Madness last week. I'm not offended.
I see on Twitter this morning, a lot of people think the timing is horrible. The NFL should
shut it all down. I get what they're doing.
It's a lot of paperwork and contract stuff.
Peter King NBC Sports is joining me.
So how do you fall on that?
Are you bothered by, many are, by the NFL saying, listen,
we're going to do this free agent paperwork stuff,
regardless of a national crisis.
How does it land for you, Peter?
Hi, Colin.
Well, pretty strange days here in Brooklyn, New York,
trying to cover all this nutty stuff in the NFL from a house.
They are from an apartment, but those are just the times we're in right now, huh?
Yeah, no.
Listen, I get the, I'm not at all bothered by the NFL saying, listen, we got paperwork to do here.
Some people think it's not right, and the tyranny of the mob on the Internet, if I ran the NFL, I would be like, listen, let's don't do visits, but let's just get this stuff done.
Let's get working.
So that's kind of my takeaway.
For the record.
I also saw something on the internet.
Everybody thought the NFL wanted to rush into a new CBA.
But regardless if they did or not, the players still had to agree to it, more than half did.
So is it possible the player, the NFLPA wanted this, as much as the NFL wanted a new deal?
Well, Colin, that was the issue all along, really.
I mean, this was the strangest labor,
I think I've ever covered because it was usually it's D. Smith versus Roger Goodell.
This time it was D. Smith versus 900 of his own players.
And I've never seen that before in a labor negotiation.
Can you imagine Marvin Miller versus 48% of the players in baseball doing a labor deal?
I mean, just this is not, I mean, look, I've only covered the NFL for 36 years.
I've never seen anything like it.
I don't think in any sport.
But the bottom line in this is that D. Smith and Eric Winston reached an agreement.
And the majority, I think, of the player leaders in the union reached an agreement
that some members of the leadership in the players' union didn't like, didn't agree with.
and then they convince that.
I mean, Colin, here's the amazing thing.
Figure it out.
30 players per team, on average,
voted against this collective bargaining agreement, and it passed.
You know, 33 per team said yes.
30 per team said no.
It's like the presidential election in Wisconsin.
Yeah.
Where it's, you know, it's so close.
But again, all they needed to do is win by one vote.
They won by 60, but it still feels like there's still going to be issues with this deal over the next few years.
And I don't know what it says about D. Smith, but I wouldn't want to be the head of the union and have 30 players in every locker room think I just did a crappy contract.
Yeah.
You know, I've said earlier I've negotiated 12 contracts in my life.
I never felt I won any of them.
I never felt I lost any of them.
It was just a series of sacrifices.
You know, because in radio TV, you know, I've hired an agent to do it.
But, you know, most are fairly quick.
But I know going in, I'll ask for a couple of ridiculous things to hopefully get me things I really want.
But I think we're, you know, let's be honest about this.
Who's dominating, you know, outside of an occasional LeBron?
Well, even LeBron James.
On an open market with no salary cap, LeBron's worth $70 million a year.
In the NBA, he gets the same, you know, max deal as other players not nearly as.
good. Like, I don't think, I don't, I've never had a contract where I got everything. And I, I do think the players get a larger
percentage of revenue. You know, they have to play an extra game. That's 6.2% more football every year.
But there's far less hitting in football today than, you know, and I also think fewer padded
practices. It's much more of a Ram Sean McVeigh league now than it is an old Bill Parcell's New York
Giants League. Look, Colin, you know what? If I were, if I were a co-training, if I'm Colin,
If I'm Kyle Shanahan right now, when I have my first full squad minicamp,
I'm calling Richard Sherman into my office and maybe four or five other veteran players
who are, let's say, maybe 28 and above, okay, or 28 or older,
and just say them, look, here's what we're going to do if you're on this team in 2021
when we have a 17th regular season game.
In the first 16 games of the year, I'm going to try everything I can,
to basically find some snaps that would equal between 50 and 55 snaps.
So, in essence, you wouldn't be playing any more plays than you played in an average year.
You'd just be playing them over 17 years.
games instead of 16.
And to me, that's what a smart coach would do with veteran guys, particularly veteran guys
who he knows are adamantly against that 17th game.
Yeah.
All right.
So let's talk about two issues.
Number one, according to Chris Sims, your colleague, Tom Brady's down to the Bucks and Patriots.
What do you make of that story?
I was surprised by it because I've thought all along that the Bucks are going to sign Teddy
Bridgewater.
I love that move, by the way.
But I, but the fact, look, I mean, Chris was in a unique position to report what he reported yesterday.
And again, I haven't talked to him.
I don't know.
I don't know who Chris talks to.
I don't know anything.
But I do know that one of his best friends at the University of Texas was a reserve wide receiver named Kyle Shanahan.
And they remain close friends today.
and number two, he worked for, I think it was one season.
I'm not exactly sure how long, as an offensive assistant on the Patriots coaching staff.
So I've always thought when he says something about the Patriots,
and now when he says something about the 49ers, he probably knows what he's talking about.
But again, I do not know.
I can't say yes, absolutely true.
I just, I trust Chris, but it's not my, it's not my reporting.
By the way, are you real busy today?
Are you packed?
Did you write your column already?
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I finished it about 3.45 a.m.
And I'm living the life of Riley.
I don't have to do anything for the next couple days other than talk to Colin Coward a lot.
Okay, stick around.
I've never done this before.
Can I take you to the next segment?
Of course.
Okay.
Hey, Goulet, why don't you pay some bills?
We've got a couple grownups here and need to talk more.
We'll be back with Peter King, the great Peter King, NBC Sports next.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.

we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show,
I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff,
like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker, this linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Come on out.
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, ref, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's he at?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Cliverts show on the I Heart Radio app,

What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective
on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything
he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
man, he running up the court, licking his fingers,
why he got the ball, like,
after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
By the way, this is a pretty good deal.
The Browns have agreed to pay the Falcons tight-end,
Austin Hooper, a fortune.
He'll be the highest paid tied-in in the NFL.
He's a good player.
So Austin Hooper, good for you, young man,
made a lot of money,
and Cleveland came after him.
reportedly there were several teams after Austin Hooper.
Good tight end for the falcons.
So Matt Ryan loses a nice weapon.
That's no fun for Matt Ryan in a very competitive division.
Peter King, NBC Sports joining us.
Football Morning in America, the Great Sports Football Column in America right now.
All right, Peter, let's go to DAC, franchise tagged.
They have about a month or two.
They can still bang a deal out two or three months.
But I think Dallas has kind of shown their hand.
Here's the number we have.
Do you think he shows up to practice?
do you think he potentially does a Zika and holds out? What's your gut feeling on what he does?
My gut feeling is he would hold out if he didn't have a long-term contract.
Just a gut feeling. But, I mean, I think that his feeling has to be, you know, we've been
pussyfooting around for more than a year, much more than a year, trying to get a deal done.
And have we really been trying to get a deal done, or have we been trying to get a deal done?
or have we been trying to get a deal done that is totally advantageous to the cowboy?
And Colin, I wrote this today, that to me, the cowboys have just waited too long to get
Dak Prescott done.
The longer that they wait, it's obvious it happens in every quarterback contract.
Now, Ryan Tannahill, to me, Ryan Tannahill's contract will kill the Cowboys about that.
because if I'm Dak Prescott and I see Ryan Tannahill making 91 million in his first three seasons of his contract after the checkered career, and that's putting it nice, that Ryan Tannahill has had, I'm saying, well, I've got to go way north of Tannahill and guaranteed money and early in my career in my first three years.
And so to me, I look at this quite honestly, and I just say, the Cowboys have been playing in an unreal universe.
You know, they keep thinking that, well, you know, it's not going to be that bad.
And what's going to be bad is if he has to play on the franchise tag,
and if he doesn't come to all the off-season stuff, and he's got to learn Mike McCarthy's offense on the fly the last couple of weeks of August or whenever he would learn it.
I mean, it's just not the way to run a railroad.
By the way, two weeks into, Mike McCarthy said about two weeks after he'd been coached, he hadn't talked to DAC.
Wasn't that a sign?
That felt like a sign to me.
I mean, there's so many rules now.
You know, and you can have a very, you know, just a very brief, hello, how are you,
look forward to coaching you.
I just don't think that matters too much myself.
Amari Cooper now is out there.
Again, they can negotiate a deal.
I think it is a draft with a lot of wide receivers,
but he's a grown-up.
I mean, he runs good rounds.
He is the one guy, Colin, honestly,
I would sacrifice Amari Cooper if I'm the Cowboys.
You can't sign everybody,
especially because you paid huge money to the running back,
which I mean, first of all,
I don't draft a today, in today's world,
I don't draft a running back in the top five.
I just don't do that.
I don't do with Sequin.
I don't do with Ezekiel Elliott.
That's number one, number two.
I don't give them a second contract.
Now, I suppose they felt like they had to give him a second contract
because they drafted them so high.
But, I mean, to me, so Ezekiel Elliott,
and again, I know we're talking about Amari Cooper,
but this all happened, I think,
because they paid the running back.
And, you know, that's, that's,
just puts you in a hole. You can't pay a running back quarterback and wide receiver
gigantic money. You just can't do it. So you've got to sacrifice to Murray Cooper, and I don't
know where they're picking in the second or third round. But last year, Washington drafted
Terry McCorren at number 76 overall, a pick, you know, whatever, 10 picks into the third
round. And Perry McCorrin, midway through the year, might have been the offensive rookie
of the year. Yeah. The receiver crop is better this year.
Yeah.
Last year, Devo Samuel, D.K. Metcalf, so many great receivers in the second and third round.
And now you look at it and you say it's probably going to be better this year.
So you sacrifice Amari Cooper and you let him go and you draft somebody and you make your own Amari Cooper.
Yeah.
I know.
I saw Dax numbers pre Amari Cooper that year, though.
They weren't very good.
I like Amari.
But again, like.
He's.
Yeah.
But you know what?
You can't have everything, you know?
Right.
You can't have everything when you have a salary cap.
And particularly, I think a lot of teams thought that the number was going to come in over 198,
which for teams like Dallas, they needed the extra $7 or $8 million.
They needed to be $205 or whatever, and it's not.
And so I just look at this and I basically say,
the Dallas Cowboys cannot do every single.
they want to do.
They just can't.
And so, therefore, you know, take a neat breath, sacrifice Amari Cooper, and move on to a guy
who will cost over a four-year period in the draft, what Amari Cooper will cost in one year.
Yeah.
Michael Gallup, I thought, played pretty well.
Really good, yeah.
Yeah.
But it took him time to develop.
And maybe you'd have to, maybe your first pick is a wide receiver.
Dallas doesn't, I mean, Dallas needs a corner.
Listen, it's, they've drafted very well and they've paid some people early.
And these are the, you know, in baseball, you don't have this problem.
In the NFL, you do.
Okay, Peter King's got to go, I got to go.
Football Morning in America, NBCSports.com.
As many of us now are at least kind of sitting in our condos and houses and looking for friends to talk to.
And Peter, I appreciate you being our friend today.
Hey, all the best.
Colin, all the best here.
All right.
Yeah, listen, here's the thing, though.
If Amari Cooper walks,
it's Michael Gallup,
no tight end.
They're not good at tight end.
They're like New England now at tight end.
They're not good.
Boy, Dak with no Amari,
these wide receivers don't walk in,
rarely in Star Day 1.

Actually, this is The Herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening.
We're on IHeart Radio all day today, all week today.
Fox Sports Radio and FS1, Drew Bledsoe.
I'm going to ask him about the new CBA.
Amari Cooper, by the way,
is free to the marketplace,
free to negotiate with other teams.
It's going to be very precarious.
I don't like the idea of Dack Prescott
with no Amari Cooper and below average at tight end.
I don't.
I don't.
I think Amari Cooper matters.
He was dependable.
For the record, those of you saying,
well, look at Dack.
He is not getting what he deserves.
So let's just go back.
Day one with Dack, NFL.
First start in the NFL, day one.
I'm not anti-Dec.
I'm pro now.
What is he now?
So since DAC has entered the league,
66% completion percentage,
97 passer rating,
and less than a 3-1, 97 touchdowns,
36 picks,
less than 3-to-1 interception ratio.
40-24 is a starter.
Whoa, that's impressive.
Pay the man.
Now here's what Kirk Cousins
stats look like from day one in Minnesota.
Completion percentage.
70% better than DAC.
Passer rating 103, better than DAC.
Touchdown to interception ratio, 56 to 16.
Better than DAC.
As a starter, 18, 12, and 1.
About the same as DAC, winning percentage.
And Kirk Cousins just got a new deal at 31 million a year.
And I think it's too much.
Dack got 33 offered, no thanks.
Alex Smith, Kansas City.
Let's go look at his Kansas City days.
I think you can compare DAC and Alex Smith.
Completion percentage?
65% just like Dack.
Passer rating, right around Dack, 95.
Touchdown interception ratio, better than Dack.
Alex Smith in Kansas City, 102 touchdowns 33 picks.
Starter, 50 and 26, better than Dack.
And they traded him.
They let him go.
So Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins had better numbers than Dack.
And they'd both won playoff games.
One traded Alex Smith, the other, given Kurt Cousins $31 million.
So I don't think anybody's anti-Dak.
I think Dack Prescott is 22 and 16 versus everybody not in the mostly crappy NFC East.
He's beaten up on Washington's.
He's beaten up on the Giants.
and he's had, you know, he's had some nice wins over the Eagles.
Since Dak entered the NFL, 12 quarterbacks have won multiple playoff games.
Not Dak.
Again, is he carrying Dallas?
No.
Is he often being carried by Dallas?
I believe yes.
Russell Wilson, I believe, is carrying Seattle's offense.
I don't believe Dak is.
I believe Kirk Cousins is being carried by his offense.
I think DAC is being carried by his offense.
I think Russell Wilson's carrying his offense.
So that to me, it's not an anti-Dak thing.
It's a pro.
How good is he now?
And I'm not going to do some quarterback list,
but I think he's, you know, 16th best, 13th best, something like that.
Seems to me that's 30 million is the number.
Captain Gulp as much as everybody thought.
And I don't like Dak without Amari Cooper.
Michael Gallop's a nice player.
I don't think he's as good as Amari Cooper.
So we've lost Cole Beasley.
Jason Witten's gone.
Amari Cooper's gone.
Oline getting older.
Yeah, yeah.
Michael Gallup is a great number two.
He's not a one.
Amari's a one.
Amari may not be a top five or six one in the league,
but he's a top 15, 20 one in the league.
He's better than at least a third of the league's number one.
And he runs good routes and he gets open and
Dak needs you to be open.
So for the record, there's a bunch of
stuff, Drew Bledso's around the corner.
Give me a thumbs up, guys, when we have Drew.
We got some NBA stuff.
Speaking of Kirk Cousins, per his agent,
two-year extension with the Vikings,
more than I'd want to pay him.
Two years, 66 million.
Three years, 96 million now.
Cap Space Reliever.
So it helps them now in cap space relief.
But, you know, there's a term,
Minnesota Nice.
That's a term out there.
You've all heard that before, right?
people in Minnesota are super nice.
Maybe Minnesota is just too nice.
Because when I look at Kirk Cousins,
and he's 0 for 9 on Monday night football,
7 and 15 in primetime games.
And with that roster, 18, 12, and 1 in the regular season,
none of those numbers feel good to me.
They don't.
They don't feel good to me.
But, you know, in the NFL,
what you don't want to be at quarterback is a mess.
And Kirk Cousins is good enough.
Ryan Tannahill.
You're not a match.
You can win games.
You know, what you don't want to be is Jacksonville this morning, where you paid Nick
Foles a ton and he's really a backup, and you don't know how good Gardner Minshu is.
That's what you don't want to do if you're Jacksonville.
You don't want to be there.
You don't want to be the Cowboys a couple years ago pre-Dack when Tony Romo got hurt
and had Kellan Moore there.
You don't have to be great at quarterback.
You don't want to be chaotic.
And Ryan Tannehill assures for Tennessee, they're not chaotic.
Kirk Cousins, you know, assures with Minnesota, they can move the chains.
He'll complete 70% of his throws.
So, I mean, Kirk Cousins is making more than I think in a cap league I'd want.
But with this new deal, they get some cap relief.
And Minnesota just has done so many things right.
The quarterback situation, I think, a little bit holding them back.
Drew Bledsoll is my buddy, Super Bowl champ, former pro bowler, Bill's Patriots,
doubleback winery, got a new podcast, Bledso's basement tapes.
Good stories, funny stuff, his brother and a buddy.
So let me start with this on the 17th game.
So they added a game in the NFL.
If you were in the league now as a guy who sometimes you had good protection,
sometimes you got popped, how would you look at the 17th game, Drew?
Yeah, you know, I'm sort of, as a fan, I like it.
Obviously, I'm not playing anymore.
But if I'm playing, you know, I don't want to get, I don't want another,
I don't want another game to get beat up, quite honestly.
You know, so I think I understand how some of the players are not in favor of it,
but I also understand, you know, the financial implications of it,
which will be better for the players, you know, long term.
And I certainly understand the owner's perspective on it.
But ultimately, I think it's something that benefits fans more than anything else.
It's funny.
obviously there's more money,
higher percentage of revenues.
That's what the owners gave up.
I always, this is, it's not that timely,
but I've always thought this.
College football is a bunch of 20-year-olds.
They don't need a preseason.
I don't understand why the players don't fight more
to get rid of the preseason.
Like, why not just say,
here's our non-starter.
Two pre-season games max, or we're not doing it?
How do players view preseason?
Because I don't think the league needs four preseason games.
man i totally agree with that colin 100% agree with that i mean and uh even as a fan i mean who wants to watch
oh it's awful guys you never heard of it's you know uh i remember talking to troy ekman one time about
uh about uh about uh what you know calling games and uh and Troy said he goes you know when i really
earn my money is in the preseason i've got to know you know all these guys names and nobody
really cares and nobody's really watching but i still have to talk about all of them uh so yeah you
I think that would be something that I would have jumped up and down on a table for.
We're going to give up an extra game in regular season.
You've got to give us back, too, in the preseason.
Nobody wants to do it.
Yeah, no, I've never understand why that's not a more pressing issue.
You know, I've said this before.
I guess maybe if you're a tough dad, you can create a sort of your kids are tougher, right?
If you give them too much, your kids are soft.
If you're a little tougher as a dad, maybe it creates a metal, blah, blah, blah.
I'm not a psychologist.
I don't even know if I'm a good parent.
But there does reach a point that I think you just need to put your arms around your kids.
You know, I'm a I love you, dad.
I say it a lot.
I'm a hug dad, right?
I look at his Belichick-Bradie relationship.
You know, it just, it bothers me that Bill just won't put his arms around Tom.
Occasionally, I think it would.
And I really believe I'll be as vulnerable as I can here.
I think it would bother me if I was Tom Brady.
Tom must have a hell of an exterior or interior to handle it.
This just feels like another level of Belichick being,
have him great, don't find.
I don't know how I can handle that.
You know, it's interesting, Colin.
You know, when you talk about how you work as a parent,
we actually talk about our grape vines in the exact of the same way,
where you, you know, you give them enough stress, but at the right time, you know,
you got to give them a little bit of love.
You got to give them a little extra irrigation and so on them with kids.
It's like that.
And I'm with you with Tom, you know, he's shown his resilience.
He's shown, you know, over years and years.
He's shown that he can weather any storm and all of that stuff.
But it sure would be nice just at some point, you know, to have a head coach come out and kind of give you a
public hug.
But that's just not who Belichick is.
And that's been his MO forever and ever.
Obviously, it's worked for him for a long time and certainly not going to change at
this point.
Yeah.
I do think it's very hard to change.
I mean, listen, football life, you know, dog ears, football life, Brett
Favreve at the end didn't want to leave.
I think it would be hard.
You know, I said this last week.
It's hard to leave smart.
I've worked at a lot of companies.
When I feel my companies have been less smart, easy to leave.
I felt that my last place, there had been some moves in management.
I didn't think we were as smartly run, made it much easier to leave.
I think it's hard to leave McDaniel and Belichick and Kraft.
That trifect is pretty damn smart.
Do you think it's that, or Tom, just doesn't want to learn a new system?
Oh, now, learning and learning a new system is that's falling.
off a log, easy for Tom.
All it is learning a new system, is just
learning a language.
And, you know, I had
eight coordinators in 14 years
with different offenses
all the time. And it's, you know, it's all the
same concepts. It's just learning a different
language. So that's not, that's a non-factor.
But I do think
that, you know, I mean, if, you know,
if Tom's looking
at it and
being really smart about it, which I know he is,
if he's going to go to a different situation,
It's not going to be about the system.
It's going to be about what's in place.
You know, I don't think anybody would be, you know,
foolish enough to think that Tom's going to go restart someplace
and give it three or four years to build.
It needs to be ready to rip right now.
And there just aren't that many of those spots, you know.
You know, the Chargers is a good spot.
You know, I think the Colts could be a good spot where they're really close.
The Titans would have been, but they got their guys signed yesterday, I think it was.
but outside of that man
there just aren't so many places where you can go and win right now
I think that would be a bigger factor
for Tom
yeah I do think the Chargers have all sorts of players
you know
I I've never been a holdout guy
my negotiations 12 of them I've been pretty quick
I'm not an athlete but you know it's been pretty good
compensation I look at Derek Henry
getting a franchise tag and I can say to myself
oh I get it you know
he basically was the one running
back that carried his team more than his quarterback.
Did you ever, were you ever in a holdout that you considered?
How do players view holdouts?
Are you concerned that alienate teammates?
How do players view holdouts?
You know, for the most part, I think players agree with your stance.
And I certainly did.
I always felt like the best negotiation was to show up and go to work and prove that you're
indispensable every day, you know, especially as a quarterback.
You know, now it's different if you're running back maybe or a defense alignment or something
like that.
But, you know, but with, you know, with, with, with Derek Henry and with the running back
that plays in his style, you know, those hits add up.
Even when, even when you're as big as he is, those hits start to add up.
Oh, yeah.
And so I do understand the motivation to, you know, to strike while the higher thought,
because, you know, quarterbacks are going to play for a long, long time now if they
choose to because you don't get to hit them very much anymore.
The same is not true for running backs, man.
Those guys, those guys are in, you know, 20 car crafts.
crashes every game.
And those start to add up.
So I do understand a running back and the motivation to get, you know, more money right now.
Because you just don't know how much longer that's going to last.
Finally, people will say Dak Prescott got franchise tagged.
And people are going to say this is outrageous.
He's won a bunch of games.
My take this morning was,
Dak Prescott just turned down $33 million in a state like Texas with no state income tax.
God bless America.
If he thinks he can do better, I love him for that.
This is a great world.
That would have been 10 years ago double the highest paid player, maybe more.
You know, this is the world we live in.
I think 33 million for DAC is reasonable.
It doesn't bother me.
I think Dallas, I think Jerry Jones has a number.
This is my number.
What do you make about him being franchise tag?
How does it play?
Yeah, you know, I mean, you know, the franchise thing, first of all,
let's not discount the fact that the franchise tag,
comes with a lot of money too.
Yes.
You know, so it's not peanuts.
I don't know what, I didn't see what that exact number is for the franchise tag.
But also, you know, it's also, you know, both for the organization and for DAC himself.
Okay, you know, maybe you take a little bit less than the max number you could have gotten,
but you have stability.
You are living in a state with no income tax.
And you also then allow the team to plan long term to build around you and win games.
that's ultimately what we're, you know, what all of us, when we were playing,
that's ultimately where you really get your, your final big compensation is continuing to win.
And so, yeah, I don't love the franchise saying for Dak.
You know, he's really, you know, rolling the dice on himself, I guess.
But it also, it makes it more difficult for, you know, for a franchise to plan long term when they,
they don't know what the stability at the quarterback position is going to be.
I will say this, so I really like
Jack Prescott. Really like
his game. I love his consistency, his mobility.
He's an everyday guy, and I really, really like him,
like his game, and I'm bullish on his future.
But I would just love to see them find a way
to resolve this thing and get a set of long term for the Cowboys.
Double Back Winery, new podcast, Bledso's, basement tapes.
Your brother, by the way, your brother's on it.
Friends are on it. I don't know much about your brother.
I don't know anything about your brother.
So I describe it this.
I describe it this way, Colin.
So, you know, we're talking some sports.
But, you know, if you watch the movie Caddyshack, right?
You got to have Ted Knight.
You got to have the straight man, right?
So that's my role in this deal, right?
And then my brother and Rue Carmichael,
they're Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield.
And I just try to set them up so that they can make people laugh.
You know, truth be told, my brother, after all these years,
he's more spalding than Ty Webb.
But we get on and we talk some sports and we have some fun.
We're not trying to tackle current issues.
We're not predicting games or doing any of that kind of stuff.
We're talking about more long-term big-picture stuff.
And then tell them some stories.
And at the end of the day, you know,
the whole mission is just to make ourselves laugh and if other people laugh at us.
And that's great, too.
It's great talking to you, ma'am.
Always good to catch up, Colin.
I'm standing here surrounded by white snow and tall.
mountains in the great state of Montana.
I'm going to go put my skis back on and go rip.
I figure if I'm up here skiing fast that the virus can't catch me.
So I'm just going to keep doing that.
I practice my social distancing by being on a ski mountain.
You're lucky my place I ski at got closed this weekend, so my ski season's done.
I'm at an undisclosed location that's still open.
All right.
Good talking to you.
All right.
Thanks, Colin.
You bet.
Yeah, my ski place got ski seasons over.
This virus is just not working perfectly.
So thoughts on the NBA.
NBA execs increasingly believe mid-June is the best case scenario.
I'll give you my thoughts on that next.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person
while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes,
hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama wants you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

What's up, fam?
This is Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers
why he got the ball like,
after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the,

Go to my computer career.org.computer career. Take the free career evaluation, not rocket science.
It's my computer career. Big, big, big, breaking NFL news, John Goulet.
No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So, Colin, this literally came down seconds ago.
the Houston Texans are trading D'Andre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.
The deal will be Hopkins and a fourth round pick go to Arizona for David Johnson,
which is really just absorbing a bad contract, a second round pick this year and a fourth round pick
next year.
Now everybody's going to freak out and go, oh, my God, what's Houston doing?
We have one of the rare Texans fans on our staff in the room, and he is literally, you can't hear him because the door is shut.
He is literally screaming.
Well, you guys need draft picks.
So you get a starting running back.
You get a second round pick this year and a fourth rounder next year.
So didn't you need draft picks?
We did, Colin.
And guess what else?
They have to pay Deshawn Watson this off season.
They're going to pay Laramie Tunsel this off season.
So they can't afford to pay all these guys.
And guess what else this draft is going to give a give team?
Wide receivers.
I don't, again, everybody bails on Houston.
They keep winning their division.
They keep being a quality team.
I get what they're doing here.
The Texans were desperate for draft picks.
Peter King pointed, Peter King mentioned early this morning in his article that there was a possibility that he was on the, that DeAndre Hopkins was on the block.
But from everything I had read, it was that teams were calling and asking, but they hadn't gotten a deal they liked.
The Texans do not, before this trade, did not have a top 50 pick in this draft or the next draft.
They desperately needed a high draft pick.
They got a pretty high second rounder.
They'll get probably a better fourth rounder in the, because they got a fourth runner from Arizona who will not be as good.
And also now Kyler Murray and Cliff Kingsbury get arguably the most talented wide receiver in the NFL, certainly top five.
You're a big Kyler Murray guy.
That is a huge weapon for them.
Yes.
No, I mean, I think I get what.
Listen, Houston wants to pay their left tackle.
They have to do for what they gave up for him.
And they got to pay Deshawn Watson.
Yes.
And they don't want to have to pay DeAndre Hopkins.
And we have a draft loaded with wide receivers.
And you have to give up something to get.
And they have good.
When their receivers are healthy, they have a deep, willful or is a really good receiver?
the eight games a year he's healthy.
So if you can keep him healthy and get a little lucky.
And draft another receiver.
Sure.
Who's cheap?
So before that, the latest breaking news in the NFL was tight-end Austin Hooper is leaving the Falcons and signing with the Cleveland Brown.
So where's David and Joku go?
So there is some stuff out that he might be available for a trade.
I don't know why you wouldn't.
The two of them together would be a hell of a two tight-end combo.
Yeah, but now you're starting to spend a lot of money on why receivers.
Joker's on his rookie deal, so he's not expensive.
No, but I mean you're paying Landry, you're paying OBJ, you're paying now Austin Hooper.
You're paying a lot of money on offense.
Absolutely.
You're not paying your quarterback yet.
That's the big difference, but that's coming soon.
Hooper last year had 787 yards and six touchdowns in just 13 games.
He's going to be the highest paid tight end in the NFL or close to it.
So offensively now, even if you trade in Joku, Baker now has Nick Chisholns.
and Kareem Hunt in the backfield,
Jarvis Landry and OBJ at receiver and Austin Hoover at tight end.
If they can fix their O line in the draft or through trades or whatever.
Yeah, they're going to take a tackle with their first pick.
That's a scary, talented offense.
And if they can protect, we know Baker's good when you protect him.
It's just he can't get away from pass rushers.
But that's a pretty scary team.
Yeah.
And finally, this trade doesn't seem as big because it happened yesterday.
But I saw you tweeting about it.
The Ravens once again showing that they're smart and the Jaguars are not.
The Ravens acquired defensive end, Callais Campbell, from the Jags, for a fifth round pick.
Campbell was due to make $15 million this season.
The Ravens are trying to give him an extension.
In three seasons with the Jags, Colin, Campbell was a pro-bler.
In three seasons, he was a pro-bler three times, had 31.5 sacks in 48 games.
It's like one of the rare big free agent signings ever that worked out.
The Jags signed him, got three Pro Bowl years out of them.
What was your reaction to the trade to the Ravens?
Well, I mean, I think the Jags are tanking to get Trevor Lawrence.
And so I think they're just getting rid of good players.
I think that's what they're doing.
I think the Jags are going to be the worst team in the league next year.
And, you know, so listen, that franchise needs juice.
Trevor Lawrence would be massive juice.
He also plays in the South.
Jacksonville's going to southern Georgia.
So I think Jacksonville is doing what is fairly obvious.
Moving off players, you're Jalen Ramsey.
They've made decisions in the building.
Let's get draft picks.
Let's get young and let's get in one year, either Justin Fields or Trevor Holmes.
I say both of them are from Georgia.
Yeah.
So I think that's what you've got to do.
And nothing else is Gardner Minchu is not going to add juice.
He's a cute story.
He's not adding, not selling seats.
So let me once again recap the top story that because it just broke a minute ago.
DeAndre Hopkins traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
Unbelievable.
It's great when you're the coach in the GM, right?
You can just do whatever you want.

March 23rd, about a week of game,
week away.
Terms and conditions apply.
Go to casper.com slash term.
So we'll have Joe Banner,
former Eagle President Brown's CEO joining us.
I want to give him a lot of time.
That'll be at the end before the hour.
So that'll be a great 12 minutes.
Let me just say this about the NBA.
The guy that guarded Rudy Gobert, Christian Wood, Detroit, got the virus.
I thought it was right for Adam Silver to cancel, you know, or put the NBA on hiatus.
I also last week was a strong believer advocating before they did.
Cancel March Madness.
Basketball, you use one ball.
Everybody touches it.
It's the sport that's the most contagious.
NBA also had the first athlete, Rudy Gobert, who had the coronavirus.
I thought it was a real smart move.
I saw a tweet by Woz this morning that Adam Silver is hoping he's encouraging his league,
the NBA, to be experimental in every area, including format venues, TV,
on how to respond to this unprecedented crisis.
I don't think the NBA should cancel the season.
First of all, the star players have a lot of.
impact and leverage in this league.
LeBron James is having a great year.
How many great years does he have left?
Does LeBron really want to cancel the season and throw this year away?
It's been a great year for LeBron.
You don't want to throw this away.
Now, there's going to be issues.
The Democratic Convention is in Milwaukee and the Bucks would be hosting series if we started
back up in June.
You know, you'd have the Democratic National Convention and the Bucks would have home games.
But I don't think you canceled the season.
like the Lakers and Clippers are, in my opinion, the two best teams in the league,
and they have all sorts of veteran players who have dealt with injuries, Anthony Davis,
Kauai Leonard, Paul George, recently LeBron did last year.
How many good years left?
I think the NBA needs to think, like Adam Silver says, about manipulating the playoffs this year.
Seven game first rounders, let's make it three.
16 teams, let's cut it down to 12.
Sorry, Orlando.
Back-to-back games in the playoffs, I think you're going to have to do it.
it. Two or three games on one night. We do that in March madness. People love it.
NFL window every Sunday at 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern. Multiple games. Six going on.
So I think post-9-11 security, aviation industry, it changed. Crisis, chaos equals change.
And so I think the NBA has got to look at some things. I think I was reading Bobby Marks,
former exec in the league now. His proposal was mid-June, start.
the playoffs, early August, NBA finals, end of August draft, September 1, started free agency.
It's not a terrible idea.
It's not a terrible idea at all.
But you just got to be able to, you know, extreme circumstances means you have to be extremely amenable to change.
And so I do not think, though, I think this is a star-driven league and stars have impact.
I mean, LeBron James said, I want a longer All-Star break.
They had it.
LeBron's like, I want fewer back-to-backs.
They made the change.
and so I don't think LeBron wants to throw this season away.
It's been a great year.
It's been an unbelievable year.
How many more does he have?
If I'm LeBron, I'm fighting for this thing.
And by the way, July and August are slow.
I'd love the NBA playoffs.
It'd be great.
You kidding me?
August, I'm begging to find a college football story.
Now I got LeBron playing Kauai in the Western finals.
So I just think it's been too good of a year for too many good veteran stars.
I mean, Chris Paul.
I mean, look, there's just too many good fun stories, too many veteran stars who have had little bits of injury issues.
If they can get into the playoffs and get a one, two, or three seat, I'm not throwing this season away.
This is all just, listen, we're going through a crisis.
It's scary.
I get it.
I mean, I'm reading about this stuff all day.
I'm not somebody who has to turn the TV off because it freaks me out, but, you know, it's daunting.
You know, I got kids had to fly over the weekend somewhere.
and fly home and all this stuff is tough.
Just don't panic.
We're going to get through it.
You've got to be amenable to, you know what?
It's really showing how much we love sports.
And we are all kind of creatures of habit.
Our habits are being thrown into the dryer.
Everything's spinning out of control and it freaks everybody out.
But we're going to get through it.
Just take deep breaths.
And it'll give us a very unique NBA season.
I hope the owners are willing to kind of keep an open mind.
I think it'd be great.
I just don't want to throw LeBron season a way.
I want to throw the clipper season away.
Come on.
Boston is Miami Heat.
I've shocked people.
I mean, you've got some, I mean,
Oklahoma City still has a chance.
I mean, there's been a lot of really encouraging stories.
Zion could get in.
I'm not throwing this season away.

It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, point game is about defining the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows, without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they
don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Joe Banners, a former Philadelphia Eagle president, former Cleveland Brown CEO.
Okay, here's the breaking news.
First reaction, Joe.
You tweeted yesterday.
We're going to have surprises.
Stuff's going to happen.
Nobody's talking about.
So the Texans who are desperate for draft picks, trade deal.
Andre Hopkins.
They get a fourth rounder next year, a second round pick this year.
It feels like to me, Joe, they got to pay Deshaun here pretty soon,
and they got to pay Tunzel at left tackle.
They just need a draft pick and to get rid of a contract, I guess.
Is that what we're looking at here?
It's the logic, but it's not logical to me.
I don't know what the thought is behind trading a probably top three wide receiver in the NFL
when you're trying to develop a quarterback.
and he's replaced by what?
Kenny Stills, are you using the draft pick on a wide receiver?
I don't get it.
And a running back, you know, not hard to find and has had some injury history
and is making a lot of money.
I don't get it.
Well, he's trying to be, Bill O'Brien's trying to be GM and coach.
Mike Holmgren, by the way, was a hell of a coach, not as good a GM.
Is Bill just over his head on the GM part?
Yeah, I mean, and a lot of the guys have tried.
There's only a couple people that have succeeded.
I put Andy Reid and Belichick in the group.
I'm not sure I can come up with a lot more names currently.
You know, and we go back, even the Parcells of the world,
were much better head coaches than they were general managers,
although he at least was somewhat successful with both.
So, you know, this is hard to do for the very, very, very best people we have in the business.
And, you know, I'm not sure that Bill reaches that upper echelon
or that elite level of guys that have been able to do it.
So to me, you know, thanks.
Same thing with the tonsil.
I mean, if you were going to make the tonsil move,
which in my mind, acquiring a left tackle who's a great young player,
is very valuable, but they gave up a ton and then they made the trade without extending them.
I don't understand that.
You're going to see Tunzel.
You're going to see Cooper, and we're going to see who was the third guy, a Ramsey.
These guys are going to get massive deals because the teams traded for them,
gave up a lot and didn't sign them beforehand.
Joe Banner, former Eagle President and Brown CEO.
You know, it's interesting that Browns, you know, Baker's not making any money yet, right?
I mean, in the context of what that means.
So they're paying a lot of money to Landry, OBJ, now Austin Hooper.
They already have David and Joku.
They're paying a couple of guys on the defensive front, but Baker's not making any money.
So do you like the move to, yeah, I think you're overpaying Austin Hooper a little,
but he's a very good tight end.
What did you make of the Browns getting him?
I think that's a good move.
I mean, I got a character guy at a position that the way Stefanski plays offense makes a difference.
You know, in the short term, they're probably a little overloaded with weapons versus what I call linemen, which I think decide the game.
But they can fix that over time, and they've got plenty of room to do that right now.
So I think it's a good addition.
Listen, they're smart to know.
You're going to go into free agents.
You're going to get somebody the people desire you're going to overpay by definition.
And there's nothing wrong with doing that as long as it's only occasional.
So I think it's a good move.
Yeah.
Jacksonville looks like potentially a tank job, let Jalen Ramsey leave.
Callais Campbell for a fifth round pick to Baltimore.
I don't want to read too much into it, but it kind of looks like, hey, we need some juice
in the franchise.
We're playing two games in London.
There's two quarterbacks in college next year, both from Georgia high school.
What do you make of that Callais Campbell for a fifth round pick to Baltimore?
Well, I think it's a contract dump because there's no way that's even close to his value,
although, you know, he's older so people worry about when will he start to decline.
but based on how he played last year, that's not even close.
So I'm just assuming that they just felt like they needed to get rid of the contract.
But I look at that as if they can't make up their mind,
do we want to start all over again or do we want to build from here?
And that's the worst place to be.
Right.
Be either all in or all out, but don't be kind of part in.
And that's the moves they've made going back to the Ramsey, you know,
alienated in Joku, you know, sitting here with, you know, a guy like Campbell,
clearly not going to maximize what they're going to do this year.
But I just think they got themselves in a cap mess,
and they don't really have a choice at this point.
But if that's what they're going to do, go all in.
I don't have any problem with that.
Go all in.
But don't just dip your toe in there.
You know, I'm a little worried about Amari Cooper now if he signed somewhere else.
Okay, Dallas can still retain him.
They can work in a deal, but he can now go out in the market, right?
So I've seen Dak without Amari.
Michael Gallops a two, in my opinion, not a one.
tight end they're below the suboptimal.
O-line is getting older.
Dak, without Amari, older O-line.
I don't know.
Not special at tight end.
What do you make of kind of letting Amari?
Do you think Dallas wants to retain him eventually?
Well, I do think they want to retain him,
and he's actually been pretty public.
If I was in a situation, I would have been disturbed at how public he's been about wanting to stay there.
But he must be hearing from some other teams.
that are interested in him with some pretty aggressive numbers
and therefore has made it a lot harder for the Cowboys to sign
despite the fact that he wants to say.
It will be interesting because at least the word is that Hopkins,
part of that deal is he wanted a new contract
and Houston didn't want to give him a new contract.
If he does a deal here in the next few days,
which again, if Arizona's smart,
they've actually already laid out a preliminary deal
and he just finalize it,
Cooper could become massively expensive.
I mean, Julio Jones got $22 million.
last year. You know, everybody called that
an outlier, but if Hopkins goes out and gets
$20, $22 million, it's not an outlier anymore.
It's the market. So Cooper's
wise to be kind of sitting here and letting
things play out a little bit in the next few days.
Do you like him as a player?
You know, listen, I don't see
him as a consistent all-in-every-play guy,
so if I were picking a free agent,
I'm not sure how aggressively I'd be.
Now, that's different. He's demonstrated how
valuable he is to the Cowboys.
And I think they should have signed him, you know,
a year ago or when they traded for him.
But if I was just building a team,
I'd be a little nervous about putting $18, $20 million into a guy
that I don't see as just being consistently, you know,
dominant all the time.
I think that's fair. Joe Banner, former Eagle President, Brown CEO,
friend of the show, Joe, CBA passes, 17th game.
Players are okay with it like the rest of America with a decided vote.
Did you think either side won?
I guess I'm the only one thinking this,
although maybe the yes vote means I had more people agreeing than I thought.
I think it's a solid deal on both sides.
I mean, two deals ago, the players got a very, very good deal.
And the last deal, the owner's got a very good deal.
We were kind of due for something that kind of works on both sides.
I don't see either side getting a great deal or a bad deal here.
I think that it's a good, solid deal.
I think Dee did a much better job in negotiating this deal than last deal.
I was really critical.
Last deal, I was really critical, frankly,
when they voted to extend him, whether he's the right guy or not.
But I think he did a good job on this deal.
and I think the owners have got a couple of things that were really important to them.
So I'm glad it passed.
I think it's good for everybody, and I think it's fair.
You know, it's funny.
I was saying this about Brady.
Some of the offers now appear to be drying up.
I always kind of felt New England was the spot.
Belichick's not warm and fuzzy.
You just got to realize that.
They want him, but they're not going to pay him $32 million.
In the end, when you were a GM or a CEO,
you know, some of these leaks are clearly leaked by the player trying to create leverage.
Did you ever truly believe that Brady had a huge market?
Well, I didn't, and I've actually been tweeting this for a while.
That doesn't mean there's no interest.
And if he chooses to take the maximum deal, it will be pretty sizable.
But that's just not his history.
It doesn't seem to be what drives him.
He's going to get a lot of money in any case.
But I knew that the Texans have been negotiating with Tanny Hill for a while.
I've never believed the Colts were in it.
I do believe the 49ers had a shot,
but they just felt like the situation they were in with their capital.
and plays they need to resign.
They were better off just staying the way they were.
So for me, you're down to San Diego,
Tampa Bay, and New England.
And he's always been very focused on the quality of his offensive line.
There's only one of those three teams that has a quality offensive line,
which is New England.
Now there could be a surprise team that comes up now that the interest is
in what we thought.
But I've always said New England knowing absolutely nothing,
but it just seemed to make sense.
I'm still staying in New England.
By the way, a minute left.
It's a great wide receiver draft.
50 could get drafted.
Is that possibly what Bill O'Brien thought, which is, okay, I get a second round pick.
I'll use it on a wide receiver and not have to pay him much.
Well, it could be what he's thinking, but the wide receiver was due to make a little
of a 12 million this year.
The running back is making 11.
So he really gave up the difference between those two players for a fairly high second round
pick that may get him a replacement that has almost.
almost no chance of being as good as the guy he gave up.
So he's taking a big step back at wide receiver to get better at running back.
I just don't think in this era, especially I think of Hopkins really highly,
that that's a good move.
Joe Banner.

run out of food. The chain system's going to be
fine. They'll have grapes,

tomorrow. Not really sure about the whole
hoarding food thing.
I don't get it.
Toilet paper, you know, I always
keep a lot of that in the house, but
waiting in line to
buy big cans of mayonnaise. I don't
get it. Some of you people,
I can't
explain what's happening.
Trying to get Jay Glazer on.
Slater, too. You know, I think people, you know, I've said this before, social media is a
fun house mirror. You know, everybody overreacts to everything. I mean, just everything. So I,
I don't. I always feel like I've become a wet blanket on the average story. Oh, my God,
Houston traded D'Andre Hopkins. All right, I probably wouldn't have. They'll be fine. DeShon
Watson, they got to pay him a lot of money.
Laramie Tunzel, left tackle, they got to pay him a lot of money.
Those guys are harder to replace.
There's not, you know what I mean?
Star quarterback, star left tackle.
You can find wide receivers.
Houston's got wide receivers.
A lot of teams have wide receivers.
There's about six great left tackles in the NFL and about four great
quarterbacks.
There's a lot of star receivers.
Hell, Cleveland's got two great ones.
I can go, the Rams in L.A.
Between the Rams and the Chargers,
Justin L.A., Mike Williams,
Keenan Allen,
Brandon Cooks, Robert Woods, Cooper Cup,
Josh Reynolds, they can all play.
One town's got like seven of them.
Now, D'Andre Hopkins is great.
But if you don't have a second round pick,
and there's a story out that D'Andre Hopkins just got traded to Arizona,
and Houston gets a fourth in a second.
They gave up David Johnson a running back,
who's been injured and kind of,
of you don't know what you get he's a backup.
So they traded a backup running back, Arizona, they get a star.
And in the process, you know, Houston can say we fortified our running backs and we got a second round pick this year.
We need picks.
This is a draft with 50 wide receivers.
There are teams in this league, multiple teams that have several exceptional wide receivers.
Try to find a left tackle.
I mean, you got, there's going to be seven left.
left tackles taken in the first round this year.
Five could be taken in the top 12 picks.
Everybody seems like everybody needs a left tackle.
Wind receivers, you can find them.
I think we're overreacting.
DeAndre Hopkins is really good.
I think they could have done better.
If you would have said, here's the deal.
Houston gets a second round pick this year and a second round pick next year.
I'd be much happier than a second and a fourth.
But if you could give me two seconds for DeAndre Hopkins, who wanted to restructure his deal in Houston,
you had a holdout potential.
I'd have done it for two seconds.
I don't think I'd have done it for a second and a fourth.
He's a great player.
I'm not denying that.
But we have teams that have multiple top receivers.
You know, you look at the city of L.A.
You got seven receivers I like.
The Chargers officially now don't have a left tackle.
and the Rams have one I like a lot, but he's got about a year left.
So, you know, I don't have to love the move, but the move over the weekend that was shocking to me is the Jaguars trading Calais Campbell for a fifth round pick.
That just felt like Baltimore, a well-run organization, fleeced, a poorly run organization.
And that's the way it works.
I mean, Danny Aange, you ever notice the deals Danny Aange has made?
Cabs, Sons, T-Wolves, and Brooklyn.
It's not like he's calling the Warriors the new deals.
Every industry, the top 1%, top 5% manipulate the bottom half.
They have nots.
Every industry.
Wall Street, NFL NBA doesn't matter.
So Jacksonville's already got one foot out of the door.
They're playing two games in London this year.
That's a mess of a franchise.
They look like they're tanking.
They want to get Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields, both high school kids from Georgia.
Jay Glazer's joining us.
You know, there's different times of the year in the NFL.
There's free agency.
There's the draft.
There's the season.
There's the playoffs.
You like this free agent stuff, Jay?
I used to love the free agency stuff.
And that's, you know, I've kind of, I think about five, six, seven years ago.
I'm like, okay.
Now, I've kind of done that, been there, done that.
I lived for the draft.
I certainly live.
My biggest thing is during the season.
Foxynoffle Sunday is like that's what I'm trying to drop all my bombshells.
But the old season, I like to drop a couple of bombshells here and there,
like, you know, they'll get traded last year.
But all this stuff, you remember when I first started, I was one of the first,
well, we were the first ones to do this minute by minute breaking news.
It was me versus a guy named Len Pascarelli, Clayton, and Mortensen.
We were like minute by minute, the first ones were doing, man, back then we would,
I literally, if a fifth round draft pick signed, I would try and break it.
And then, yeah, I mean, it was everything.
And, you know, back then, too, we were like, you know, I think this internet thing
may actually catch on, but keep it a secret.
And then as time went on, it just got, there's so many, and I'm glad we kind of paved
the way for it to become a thing, the NFL insider thing, and for the crawls and
breaking news constantly.
But, you know, I did it for a while, and I respect the hell of the guys who are doing it
now, the chapters and the rap reports and all those guys, and God bless them.
You know, we did it for a long time, and there are certain things that kind of, you know,
there's different times a year.
Like, for me, draft is my time, and that during the season is my time.
back here I kind of like to watch.
And I'll drop a couple of big ones here and there.
By the way, Houston trades DeAndre Hopkins.
I think the world's a little, it's not the deal I would have wanted, but I understand they
got to pay time.
But not the deal you would want for who.
So, DeAndre Hopkins is now officially going to Arizona.
No, I know.
Who are you saying you wouldn't be happy if you were, which fan?
Well, if I'm Arizona, I'm very happy today.
I'm ecstatic.
Are you kidding me?
Because Kyler Murray.
Keanu is ecstatic.
Yeah, Kyler Murray got a star.
There is growing sense in the NFL that Bill O'Brien should not be GM and head coach.
Do you share that belief?
Well, you know, there are growing sense.
I think it's hard for somebody to do the same thing.
But I think everybody thought they were crazy in what they did earlier last year,
trying to get tonsill and then trading Clowny and picking up as much as they did.
And all they did is go on and I think they won the division, right?
And they end up going to the playoffs.
So, you know, I think regardless,
it's hard to have a head coach GM because there's the amount of work that goes in
both positions it's you know it's not 24 hours a day it's you know that that makes it
it's 60 hours a day for those guys it's just too hard but I do want to touch on this trade
right because during the season I've reported on Fox that Hopkins was a guy that teams were
calling thinking he could be available for trade so here he is the Andre Hopkins I
put it out there. Suddenly he gets reported that I'm saying he's in the trade block. And that's not
what I said. I said he is being the teams think he could be had. So they're calling. And I asked
O'Brien about it. He says, yeah, teams are calling, but it's going to take a ridiculous math.
Well, so I get a phone call from D'Honbury Hopkins. It's Sunday, mind you. And it's an hour before
the game. And he's like, Jay, is it, is it true? And I'm like, no, dude, you're not on the block.
Teams are trying to call for you. And he's like, and he's like, man, you know, why don't
They like me in my plate.
Where are you right now?
Aren't you supposed to be warming up on the field right now?
And he's literally called me from the locker room.
And I realized what the time is.
I'm like, hold on a time.
You got it early.
Aren't you supposed to be out there?
He's like, I'll call you back.
And that's the last I heard from him.
But, you know, I think they're a thing they're trying to rebuild draft capital.
But I think Dioray Hopkins is one of the top three receivers in this league.
So for Steve Kahn to get him and not give up a first rounder, plus.
get rid of a running back that they're trying to shed anyway,
was brilliant on their end.
Well, and also, Kyler Murray, first of all, it's a very good division.
And Kyler Murray, at this point, once you get that star quarterback,
that young star quarterback, you've got to help him, either O-Line or weapons.
You know, the Brady stuff has been fun.
It looks like a lot of the offers are, you know, kind of drying up.
I don't even know if they were offers.
A lot of it was, you know, my takeaway was, is Don Yee, you know,
talking to some friendly reporters who make it look like there's a big market.
I don't sense there is a huge market.
If I said today, Jay Glazer,
Tom Brady remains in New England because that's my gut feeling.
Where do you land on that opinion?
Colin, you know me, man.
I don't like to ever be wrong.
And I don't like to guess.
And I don't think he knows the answer right now.
So it would be hard for me to say.
I think even them kind of boxing him in the corner,
I hate to see it come down on what seems like they're saying,
oh, you don't have a lot of leverage?
Okay, well, we're going to give you over here.
we're just going to pay you this.
It just seems like the wrong way to kind of go about his last years there.
Yeah.
You know, and I could tell you that some of the stuff that was coming out, too,
was other teams trying to attach him there so they could perhaps leverage, you know,
who their current quarterbacks are.
Like Tennessee.
But not all of it was going from his people, you know?
Yes.
But I still look at it.
I think it's the craziest thing ever.
He's the greatest quarterback who ever.
lived. And we're talking about him not having a place to go and not having a,
and his own team willing to move on. It's just the crazy thing.
They still had a top 10 offense last year with him losing his center,
who may have been the second most valuable guy in that team, him not having, you know,
the offensive weapons we're talking about. And he's still a top 10 offense.
And it's mind-boggling to me that more people aren't talking about it.
And, you know, more people are talking about some of these other veteran quarterbackers.
Absolutely mind-boggling me.
Do we, do you think we, so we had a bomb today.
We had DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona, qualifies as a shocker.
Do you think we have a handful?
There's going to be another one coming up here soon.
What time out?
What time out?
Can't tell you yet.
It's going to be another one.
Today?
There'll be another big one coming up here soon for, for, it'll surprise you.
Is it a wide receiver?
I can't, I can't get into it yet because I'm sworn to secrecy at this point.
All right.
But it'll be something.
you'll go, oh, wow.
It'll be, it'll involve,
yeah, there'll be, and there'll be a couple
big name players here and, you know, bigger picks.
That'll get, that'll start getting shot around here.
You'll see, you know, and it's interesting also,
because of what's happening right now,
you know, there are teams that are saying,
we don't think free agents or anything should start right now
because, say if we sign a guy,
we can't, a lot of us can't fly them in for a physical,
and we can't see
we may want to look at a guy, but we can't fly him in.
And it's hard to them.
We're pending physical to these guys.
So why don't we just wait?
And obviously the league union, they don't want to wait
because they're saying, well, guys are
making money immediately today.
Start in the league year.
So we don't want them holding off on that guaranteed money.
So it's interesting having to try to navigate that.
Listen, we're an uncharted territory.
You know, we on a much smaller scale,
we're, you know, have unbreakable our gym here.
and three hours before midnight we get something from Mayor Garciti that you're closed down.
You can not open your doors tomorrow.
Most of our people are already asleep.
So we have to have somebody outside our doors saying, hey, you can't come in.
And then, you know, employers going on what's happening with our jobs, and we're cramble in there.
Our foundation, MVP, we gather in big groups and we don't know what to do there
because isolation for our group of veterans is a lot scarier than this.
And obviously we want to keep them safe in every way.
We want to keep other people safe.
So there's no, you know, I know isolate.
We all say isolation is the right answer right now.
It is, but, man, not to our vets.
So we're trying to figure out how to navigate them.
So everybody's trying to navigate business right now and navigate life right now.
and everybody seems to have such a hard line stance, one of the other.
This whole thing is supposed to be, we the people, we're supposed to do it together.
Somehow we all need to come together.
Yeah.
Hey, um.
While being separate.
Dak Prescott got franchise tagged.
He'll be the quarterback for the Cowboys for a long time.
So it doesn't matter how they do it.
They're going to make sure he's a quarterback of that team for a long, long time.
So they're, they can still negotiate until July, can't they?
Yeah, there's a certain period that can negotiate, but I just, it's going to get, he'll be there for the next five years.
Okay.
And then there's another big deal coming, you said?
At least one.
Okay, can I just?
At least one that I know.
There's a couple being worked on.
And again, some of them are like, man, we want to do it, but we need to see this guy to make a final, but they're not allowed.
There are certain facilities that are closed.
You know what I mean?
So it's kind of weird.
That's what I'm saying.
It's a tricky time we're living in.
By the way, Arizona now that they have their star receiver,
I'm just reading Daniel Jeremiah says,
now they can take an offensive tackle in the first round.
We're going to have a lot of tackles taken.
Holy Lord, I predict them seven.
Yep.
By the way.
Or, hey, or another receiver.
Hey, I got one.
Since you won't tell me the, you won't tell me the player.
You don't do this to me.
You'll see it later.
You'll see it later.
You'll see it later.
Does it rhyme with, does it rhyme with Samari Looper of the Dallas Cowboys?
Does it rhyme with that?
Is that the player?
No, he's just free, isn't it?
Well, somebody can.
He's a free agent.
We're talking trades.
You have to be trades.
AFC, AFC or NFC.
AFC or NFC.
Come on.
I always tell you, I even tell you off air over the side.
All right.
before and, right?
And, well, the only reason I'm not saying is because it's not finalized.
All right.
And so I don't want to put it out there, all for, bam.
If I could, trust me, if I could, I'd break it on your show, which I have in the past.
Yeah.
It's not, the two that I'm hearing are not finalized yet.
There's two of them.
Yeah, but if it happens, we got your number there, buddy.
You got it, buddy.
All right, thanks, man.
Love you.
Love you.
All right.
So, it's exciting times.
I like days like this.
Days like this are fun.
I mean, you could be a trader and watch your portfolio crash.
today or you could do what we do and talk about DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.
Boy, that division is just a handful.
Now, Kyler Murray's got his guy.
Cardinals can now go address their left tackle spot.
Of my predictions I made in the first round, remember last week I said, or week before,
maybe it was last week.
I don't know.
I said, I'm going to make four strong predictions in the first round.
One of them was seven offensive tackles first round.
Everybody's talking about the need for quarterback.
Once you get the quarterback, you got to protect him.
And this is a great class of high-end tackles.
You're going to see, and it's funny because the Jets need one bad,
and now Arizona is going to take one.
And Cleveland's going to take one.
And the Giants may take one.
I think we're going to have the most activity ever,
potentially ever in the top five or six picks.
I think you're going to see the Giants moving around.
I think Miami may move up to ensure they get Herbert or Tua.
So much fun.
Jane Slater covers the California.

Buying a used car, the internet can confuse you.
Vague pricing.
I do not like personally vague pricing.
When I go into a store, I don't want to walk to the register, not knowing what bread costs.
True car.
Buy smarter, drive happier.
A million pre-owned vehicles.
All right, so Jake Laser just said major deals coming up, a big trade.
I got two thoughts here.
If I leave you with anything today, my feeling is this.
We've got a very good wide receiver draft, the best ever, 45 to 50 receivers.
What did we just see happen?
A star wide receiver drafted.
I think we're going to see another wide receiver traded.
I'll put it out there.
Odell Beckham Jr.
Browns have all new people.
They've now got Austin Hooper, Jarvis Landry, and two good backs.
And David and Joku.
They need another star receiver.
If I'm Cleveland, I move OBJ.
I think he is the guy I'd move.
They got two good tight ends now, two good backs.
Jarvis Landry.
They can draft another wide receiver.
They're going to take a tackle with their first pick.
This is a deep wide receiver draft,
deep enough that Houston moved DeAndre Hopkins.
All new people in the building in Cleveland.
The last group loved OBJ.
John Dorsey loved him.
He wasn't going to move him.
These guys, I'm Kevin Stefansky.
I'm all these guys in Cleveland now.
I'm like, I don't care what they thought.
We don't think they knew what they were doing.
If I can get a first round pick for OBJ, I got two tight ends now.
Cleveland has a surplus of weapons.
Make it easier for Baker Mayfield.
You got two good tight ends, two good running backs, and a very good wide receiver.
You're going to ask him now.
to have to get them all to six different people.
Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb, David and Joku, Austin Hooper, OBJ, Jarvis Landry, come on.
You got it.
This is what happened last year.
Baker and OBJ, when Baker may feel targeted OBJ, his numbers plummeted.
Give him another right tackle.
Give him another draft pick.
I got to tell you, if I will absolutely applaud an OBJ trade for Cleveland,
I think it's the right move.
I don't think he's good for the city.
Nothing against him.
I think he fits in New England.
I think he fits in Philadelphia.
That's not the culture for him.
And at some point, you don't let this team become a tight end running back offense.
Time of possession.
Keep the ball away from Lamar Jackson.
Here's my other thought.
I just want to be clear on this.
Are we recording this?
Why is nobody talking about Tom Brady to the charge?
Chargers. Dean Spanos wants him. They have to sell tickets. They need a quarterback. They need to be
relevant. You got Kauai in town, LeBron in town, Paul George in town, Anthony Davis in town. It's a
star-driven town. Mookie Betts now in town. I mean, once USC gets its act together, because I don't think
right now the current coach is probably here in five years, three years, maybe not by the
middle of next year. I don't know. But this town is distracted. L-AFC. When Pete Carroll was here,
no L-A-F-C. No team.
NFL teams.
I mean, it's, no LeBron, Anthony Davis, the Clippers were a joke.
Now they're not.
It's a distracted market.
Dean Spanos can't sell tickets.
Brady to the Chargers makes too much sense.
And why did they do that Trey Turner deal?
Why?
Why did they do that two weeks ago?
It was a signal, Tom, we're cleaning up our interior O line.
So we have another big deal coming.
Would not be shocked.
if it's a wide receiver being dealt with this class
and Brady to the Chargers is being underreported.
The owner wants it.
Dean Spanos can solve three problems.
Relevance, ticket sales quarterback.
One move.
Justin Herbert's not selling tickets in L.A.
Veteran newsman.
And he's French.
Jean Goulet.
This is the herd line news.
Okay, so we just had another trade.
I don't think it's.
the one Jay Glazer was referring
to. It's not big. It's solid.
Let me hear it. So
the Falcons wasted no
time in replacing
Austin Hoover assigned with the Browns.
Atlanta gets tight end Hayden
Hurst and a fourth round pick from
the Ravens. They will send to the Ravens a second
round pick and a fifth round pick.
Hayden Hurst is their second best tight end.
They drafted two tight ends a couple years ago.
He was the first one picked, but he's not
as good as the kid from Oklahoma. He is
not. They clearly had this
planned for a if Hooper leaves.
This is the deal we're going to do.
They did it very quickly. Should be noted.
So basically the
Ravens got for their backup
tight end what the Texans got for
their number one all-star wide receiver.
A second round pick.
Well, Atlanta's a better run franchise.
No, I know the Raven.
No, the Balls, right? They traded their
backup tight end and got a second. Yeah, no, no.
The Texans traded their top five in the
NFL receiver and got a second.
Listen, between your cheating,
baseball team and Bill O'Brien, Tooie.
I don't know how you get out of the bed in the morning.
Seriously.
Oh, my God.
And the smallest NBA team.
Houston's really...
Should I just change affiliations, like fandom?
Should I just change everything right now?
You have the smallest, most dysfunctional NBA team.
The worst GM in the league is your head coach.
And your baseball team bangs on garbage cans to win games.
It's quite a life you've carved out for yourself.
To win World Series.
So, yes, alluding to that.
story. Just to recap, the Texans have traded DeAndre Hopkins on a fourth round pick to the
Cardinals for David Johnson, a second round pick and a fourth round pick next season.
By the way, so I get, if I'm Kyler Murray. It's a great deal for the Cardin.
I get, I have Christian Kirk. Yep. I got Larry Fitzgerald for about another year. Yep.
I have DeAndre Hopkins. Now I can go, by the way, Arizona now will draft the tackle because
last year he got sacked like, was it 50 times or something? And he's mobile and he got sack 50 times.
It was a lot.
So, yeah, you have an offensive, a smart offensive guy.
This is a great trade for the Cardinals.
I think what it brings up to me is if this was what it cost to get DeAndre Hopkins,
where were the Patriots?
Where were the Packers?
I mean, if you need a receiver, you have a top five receiver available on a good contract
for basically a second round pick and the Cardinals went and got them?
This has been a fun day.
Yeah.
So you're going to like this story.
According to Mike Floreo at Pro Football Talk,
Talks are underway between the Bears and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Oh, you know, I love Teddy B.
You love Teddy Bridgewater?
I don't love him here.
Okay.
Well, I just think it's a cold, windy.
I didn't like when Minnesota drafted him.
My takeaway is you're going to be playing outdoors in Chicago and outdoors.
Sure, but there are at least home games are indoors.
Chicago is, I like Teddy B a lot.
I thought he was a perfect fit in Tampa.
I think Bridgewater is Mike Garoppolo.
I think he's underrated on the market.
I think he's a starting, I think he's, I think he's,
I think he's every bit as good as Dack.
Sure.
Yeah, and Dax's going to get $33 million a year,
and I think this guy's going to get, what, 20?
Yeah, the numbers being talked around around low 20s,
which would also mean that Chicago is bringing him in to be the starter,
not compete to be the starter.
Oh, but I thought they loved.
Every time I criticize Trabiski,
I get all these fan boys in Chicago,
they're always like, you don't get it.
This rumor, now who's throwing this out there?
Mike Florio.
Okay.
It's talk.
It's not a deal as done because the bucks, they're also reportedly, the bucks are also interested, but the bucks are going all in on trying to get Brady.
So Bridgewater may be their backup plan, but depending on how long Brady wants to take, it might be too late.
But the bears are basically looking to make Teddy Bridgewater their starter.
It would work great in September when it's warm out.
He'd be fine.
He'd be good in the indoor stadiums in Minnesota.
Post Thanksgiving, it'll be a little rough.
And speaking of Minnesota, the Vikings and quarterback, Kirk Cousins have agreed to a two-year extension.
So a two-year deal worth $66 million.
And also it's basically he's got three years left on his deal worth $96 million total, $61 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rappaport.
This is basically done to lower his cap hit this season.
Vikings, obviously with a roster like that are cap-strapped.
This will lower his cap hit $10 million this season.
He had signed a three-year, $84 million fully guaranteed deal two years ago.
So while a lot of us thought they were looking at.
to maybe get out of this deal and hey we got one year left.
Apparently not. Apparently we have many years left of Kirk Cousins in Minnesota.
He obviously is coming off a big win, which is rare to say for Kirk Cousins.
He beat Drew Brees in New Orleans in the playoffs.
You're not the biggest Kirk Cousins guy.
You think he's very meh.
What do you think of the deal?
Yeah, it's more than I'd want to pay him.
But I think Minnesota is nice.
They're very nice.
It's funny about the Midwest.
Chicago, Detroit, and Minnesota are all in the Midwest.
They struggle moving off their quarterbacks.
They do.
And I, I mean, I criticize Matt Stafford, and it's people freak out.
And I'm like, 11 years, no division titles.
No playoff wins.
Like, what's the loyalty for?
And I mean, Kurt Kaz, I mean, the coast is meaner.
Joe Flacco was a Super Bowl MVP.
Baltimore's like, see ya.
It's like San Francisco, Jimmy Garoppolo misses on a deep ball in the Super Bowl.
We're not interested.
I mean, it's something about us people on the coast.
Chargers kick Phillip Rivers to the curb.
Yeah, we're like, we're cutthroat on the coast.
In the Midwest, 11 years no division titles, you criticize Matt Stafford.
This is the end of me listening.
I mean, it's Kirk Cousins is, but let me read this to you against Kirk Cousins against
playoff teams in his career is 5 and 24.
That is 40th versus winning teams.
He's 6 and 29.
That's 40th.
I'm not paying a guy $30 million.
And he's a fine.
But you know what?
Prime, he's bad in primetime games.
Well, guess what?
You play the best teams in primetime games.
That's why, you know,
networks put on the good teams in the primetime games.
He loses two for everyone he wins.
I mean, I don't know what you.
And I mean, you had one more year.
You could have drafted somebody to take his place.
He's 0 and 9 Monday night football.
That's astonishing.
That's unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Oh, and nine.
God.
You know, in life, you deserve what you allow.
Minnesota's allowing this and you deserve it.
If Bridgewater goes to Chicago, they're winning that division.
Say that right now, they'll win that division, O'Packers.
I think that'll be good, but I'll take Chicago.
I like the roster.
And I like Teddy.
Veteran newsman, John Goulet.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd line news.
the associated press wire
and the fax machine, Tui.
We got break. Jay Glazer said there's
another, I'll just put it out
there. O.B.J. and Cleveland.
I'm just going to put it out there.
I think it would be great for OBJ
and great for the Browns.
They got Austin Hooper, David and
Joku, Jarvis Landry, OBJ,
Karim Hunt, Nick Chubb.
How in God's name is Baker Mayfield
supposed to make all of those guys happy?
At some point,
you got to give him protection.
They have terrible tackles.
Good center and J.C. Treterter, but bad.
Giants, giants and the Browns have the worst tackles in the league.
Jets are probably third.
Jane Slater covers the Cowboys.
Her thoughts next.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
All right, good to have you in.
Crazy Day.
DeAndre Hopkins now in Arizona Cardinal.
So Kyler Marie's got Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald and DeAndre Hopkins.
that division's just crazy town.
Jay Glazer said another big deal's coming.
I'll throw it out there.
OBJ Cleveland, a lot of mouths to feed for Baker.
Get him an offensive lineman.
Jane Slater NFL Network, Cowboys Reporter at Slater NFL,
also part of the herd podcast network.
All right, Dak got tagged.
You tweeted earlier.
The Cowboys sent over another proposal last night.
Dack's agent, no response.
So did the Cowboys up there, Annie?
What was the last number we heard about?
haven't been able to get any numbers hammered out Colin and I don't know if that last proposal
was last night I just know it was the last couple of days just for some clarity purposes there
essentially they sent out a proposal which was around the 33 million 105 guaranteed
then the Cowboys came back with another one is my understanding Todd france's agent responded to
that and then when I touched face with my sources last night everything was quiet so
we were sort of going into this thinking, well, you know, the Ezekiel Elliott deal happened at the 11th hour.
Maybe they could do that here.
But, of course, you know, with DeMarcus Lawrence, they tagged him one year and then tagged him again the second year.
And then ultimately ended up getting a long-term deal done with him.
I believe it was in April of that year.
So we could see something like that happening here.
They've been threatening that there's a possibility that he wouldn't show up to OTAs.
But given coronavirus and what we're seeing, even with the draft, it's still.
sort of unclear what OTAs and the all-season programs going to look like right now, Colin.
I like DAC with Amari Cooper, more than I like DAC without Amari Cooper.
Where does that stand with Amari?
Another great question.
I was a little more shocked by this because, you know, my thought process was they can obviously
franchise tag, Dax, use that exclusive tag so that no one else I can talk to him.
Right.
You know, if they'd use the non-exclusive, they could have let him go out in the open market,
decide not to map the offer sheet, and then get you first-round picks, which,
would have been intriguing in and of itself.
They didn't do that.
So the thought process,
well, of course,
are going to get a Marty Cooper done.
But my understanding that while the talks
been characterized as good talks,
and they are still hopeful that they can get him to stay in the building,
they certainly made this more precarious by opening this up
for him to be able to get courted by teams,
like, let's say the Patriots.
The Eagles with a team I threw out there,
but I was told by a source,
he's likely going to be too expensive for them,
although they absolutely need wide receiver help.
in Philly.
So I think the thing's interesting.
Are they banking on the fact that he has numerous times said that he wants Germain
in Dallas and maybe they're hoping that's still the case?
Or I asked him, I said, where are you guys at?
Like, are you guys close on annual salary, close on the years?
And I was told, well, we're apart on everything.
So that's where the DAC deal went back in September.
Well, and I think also it's a deep wide receiver draft.
And I think people like Amari Cooper.
but Dallas is like I think Dallas is taking a change this is my takeaway Dallas is saying listen
Gallup's a good two they just signed their tight end I just read yeah they just signed him
their old line is still elite and I think my take away in Dallas with Amari is we like him
put him out in the market let's if somebody wants to pay him 17 million we don't think he's worth
that I mean at some point you have to take chances as a football team with personnel and I
I think they want him already but they want him at the number of
they want him at.
I agree with that.
I don't think that you're too far off on that either, Colin.
I think they also look at, okay, there's an argument to be made that you played really
good against bad teams.
Yes.
And then you sort of fell off against the good teams.
And so there are some questions.
I guess my only pushback would be, you know, here's a guy that's only going to be 26 in June.
I mean, he's young.
He's played 77 career games, 25 of those adults, and you gave up a first round tick for him.
So that, to me, is what's remarkable is that you wouldn't.
try and close the door on that if you were able to give up a first round pick, you know,
less than two years ago.
That's what was interesting to me.
But to your point, Michael Gallup has really come along, and I thought it was interesting
that as they promoted the Hall of Fame game, it wasn't a Murray Cooper space that was on that.
Or ZQ.
I mean, or Dak for that matter, they put Michael Gallup on that flyer.
I thought that was interesting because they sort of considered him a 1A, 1B type receiver.
You've seen some of these projected drafts, Cowboys Picket, 7th,
Stevie Lamb might be there.
You know, so the tight end they paid, the running back they paid, Jalen Smith they paid.
You know, they paid a lot of people in Dallas, and they paid a lot of them early.
You think Dak's bitter this morning?
What I appreciate about that.
He talks about this often, Colin.
You know, he lost his mother while he was in college.
And, you know, he sort of had a really good head on his shoulders.
He's pretty grounded.
I think he's going to have a business approach to this.
obviously you're going to feel like, hey, you know, I think we did the numbers this morning, Bobby Belt, my producer on our podcast, came up with the figure that he's going to make six times more in this year with that franchise tag, which is about to be about $33 million, then he has in his entire career.
So he's getting paid.
But it's more about the fact to how little he's been paid.
We've talked about this a few weeks ago, what he's played through.
and to your point, you sort of went and paid, you went, you know, gangbusters on
DeMarcus Lawrence's deal.
You ended up paying his EQELE essentially what he wanted, even though the Cowboys will argue
it was team-friendly.
You can look at it in a couple of different ways.
But you've over the years have paid all these guys, and now you've got a guy that's done
everything that you wanted.
He's done everything the right way.
And he's galvanized that locker room, and then you're going to have him going into
the season going, yeah, we just, we don't know.
And there was also, I keep going back to the report I said a couple weeks ago,
there was someone that thought it was important enough for me to know
that the Cowboys had asked at least six times last year, is that Creston our guy?
Is that Crescott our guy?
And it seems to me if you're going to ask those sort of questions, is he your guy?
So the whole thing's intriguing.
And if I'm that Crested, I'm also wondering, okay, well, they have the option to franchise
charging if, you know, if I sign this tag now.
but what if with the new coaching staff coming in
doesn't believe he's their guy after season
then are you going to truly find yourself in the open market next year?
I don't know.
That feels like I think that's what it is.
I think McCarthy's like, listen, I got fired in Green Bay.
I want to make sure this is the right guy.
Give me a year with Dak.
I think so.
Listen, we have a story potentially breaking.
It's not with a Cowboys.
So Jane Slater.
There's other news in the NFL.
By the way, her free agency frenzy coverage airs this week starting each day at 7 in the morning Eastern NFL networks Jane Slater, also part of the herd podcast network.
Jane, we may lean on you more than once this week.
Thank you.
Of course.
All right.
She does a great job, Jane Slater.
How about this?
You know, some of these social media athletes, they just like teasing.
So Stefan Diggs is very good for Minnesota.
He just tweeted, it's time for a new beginning.
That's another guy we talked about.
You know, it's funny, what's the date today?
March, what is it?
Okay, March 16th.
So the Patriots have to thread the needle on this thing with Brady.
Like if they don't have a backup, Jared Stidham, I mean, that's it.
They don't have a second round pick.
I mean, they're not going to be a very good football team.
if Tom Brady doesn't come back.
I got news for you. They're not.
Jared Stidham, Andy Dalton, you're not winning many games.
I mean, the bills are better, the Jets will be better.
Dolphins appear to have the right guy.
AFC's getting better.
Stefan Diggs, New England just screams.
And again, Minnesota's got a coach Mike Zimmer.
He's got Adam Thielen.
He's got two tight ends.
He's got a running buck.
He wants to run the ball.
He's conservative.
He doesn't need, in his eyes, a high-maintenance-wide receiver,
Stefan Diggs.
You know, Stefan Diggs, to me, is in the D'Andre Hopkins category.
Now, D'Andre has been a little more reliable physically.
Diggs has been hurt a few times.
But Stefan is crazy talented.
Crazy talented.
I mean, the Texans do need a number one receiver now.
And they have a second round pick.
Just saying.
Aren't we done talking about Houston?
I'm over Houston.
Yeah, I mean, Houston, we've got multiple problems, not just uproids.
problem huh Stefan Diggs so Jay Glazer told us one more major deal this has been fun
this show has flown by today so I got the market crashing social distancing
Biden and Trump I wasn't I didn't I'm glad it's Biden and Trump for the record
I don't think America's looking for a revolution America's looking for calm
good God between the virus and the stock market and Trump's daily Twitter

calm. When you got a crazy neighbor and then the house next year is up for sale, are you looking
for a revolution? Are you looking for calm? Got so much crazy going on. To me, I want less crazy.
Biden's not perfect, but it's kind of sense of serene. An adult. Back tomorrow. Same time, same
place in LA, it's the hurt.

And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments.
If we didn't talk ever again, I was partying.
You just understood.
That's how personal it got.
Wow.
Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to, he's like, you know, I love you, dog.
You know, it's all love.
This was just playoffs.
This was just basketball.
