And if you have a gambling problem, call 1-800 gambler. What's up, guys? It's Wednesday, March 18th. And guess what? I turned 47 years old.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Can you believe? 47 years old is a crazy number, but today I got business I want to chat to you about. That episode is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down. That is a total power move.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Guys, so when Rhonda Rousey and Gina Carano were announced to fight on Netflix, I immediately was my ears perked up because now that's information, right, that most people that live in the mixed martial arts space would pay attention to. Hey, I understand that there is a section of fan that will say, this should have happened so many years ago because they're both retired, they've both been retired in the way that they left mixed martial arts did not look good. Guys, remember, the way they left mixed martial arts, martial arts was losing to two
Starting point is 00:05:09 the greatest female fighters of all time. I'm talking Amanda Nunes and Chris Cyborg. They didn't get beat by a whole bunch of people on the way out. But again, you have to kind of pay attention to that and pay attention to mixed martial arts to recognize and remember that they didn't just get ran out the door by some random women.
Starting point is 00:05:28 They got beat by two of the most elite female fighters of all time. So then they go away and they do their own thing. Obviously, Carrano did a lot of movies. Rhonda did movies, WW and all kinds of other stuff. So that was attention grabbing, right? But it was attention grabbing for the names.
Starting point is 00:05:47 I don't know what Gina Carrano has left in terms of mixed martial arts. I believe that Ronda Rousey still has time. Now, she's not young by any means. Louise, tell me how old she is real quick, Ronda Rousey. Ronda's not young, but she still has time in terms of an athletic career. Gina's like 45, round is 39, right? Pereira's still of that age himself, and he's still the world champion, or at least was, well, he is the world champion until those guys start the first round in Miami.
Starting point is 00:06:21 But at 43, obviously Gina hasn't fought for a long time, and she's a little bit older. But that was grabby for the reason of the names. Then you get the second fight, Francis Ngano, when I was just begging the UFC to make a deal with. with Francis. I'm like, guys, get Francis back now that he's a free agent with the PFL. Obviously, that signing tells me that Francis and his team probably had some things in the works whenever they left the PFL. So I don't necessarily know looking back if the PFL just
Starting point is 00:06:57 released Francis and Gano or Francis and Gano and his team went to them and said, hey, I have this opportunity. I need out of this contract. One, PFL will then save money, right? The because obviously Francis makes a big, big amount. Two, they don't have to pay the opponent because remember Francis negotiated into his contract that his opponent would make big money. It was a decision that was very easy to make, considering you probably were not getting the returns
Starting point is 00:07:26 on the Francis and Ghana experience or experiment like you thought you might have gotten. Because, again, there's no pay-per-view. How do you quantify what Francis is? is bringing back to you outside of just an audience, right? So when I look back now, I think that there was probably more of a mutual separation. But again, that's still, Francis is fighting someone else. I don't know that it's going to be competitive.
Starting point is 00:07:56 The guy's tough, lens. But I don't know that he's going to be competitive with Francis because I still believe that Francis is one of the best fighters in the world in the heavyweight division. but the third fight is what might have gotten me most excited. Mike Perry and Nate Diaz. Now, let me tell you why. Nate Diaz and Mike Perry are not two of the best Walter weights in the world. Make no mistake about it.
Starting point is 00:08:26 They are not of the level of Kamaro Usman and Islamachev and Jack Delamadalina and Michael Morales and Sean Brady and Ian Gary. They're not that. They are not that level of fighter. The best fighters are in the UFC. Make no mistake about it. But why would that excite me? Because of the names and because of you know what it's going to bring.
Starting point is 00:08:59 You can have fights, right? You can have fights and you can have matchups that are great. on paper, but the whole thing leading is a bit of a, but this one will not be. This is two guys that know how to engage in audience and they know how to make people pay attention to what they're doing. Example, Hamzachimai of Sean Strickland. The last video I did the other day. Sean Strickland's one of those guys too.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Nathan Diaz has many losses in his career. Not many people can have the career. of Nathan Diaz and still bring the number of eyes that he brings to whatever venture he is dealing with. When he went to boxing, people watched him. When he does M. M. many people watched him.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Mike Perry has went and almost restarted his entire career by going to bare knuckle and becoming an absolute savage. I told Luke before he fought him. I said he's a psychopath. You do not want to fight him under this rule set. Luke said he's too small. I'm going to destroy him. We obviously saw what happened.
Starting point is 00:10:13 But they have both gone from the UFC. Not only have they continued to build their names. They gained star power that I don't even know that they could have gotten when they were in the UFC. Because when I look back, guys, and this is just me being completely truthful, right? I'm not hating on these guys because I love the matchup because the matchup for me is a fun matchup between two guys. that are going to make a fun fight, that are going to make the event feel special, they're going to talk trash, and it's going to be fun.
Starting point is 00:10:48 But make no mistake about it, right? Nate Diaz, in his last, he was three and three in the UFC, four and four in his last eight UFC fights. That's not knocking the door down of a world championship. Granted, he was fighting really good guys, right? He beat Michael Johnson, he beat Connor McGregor, and he lost to Connor, beat Petis, lost to Masvedo, lost to Leon Edwards, beat Tony Ferguson.
Starting point is 00:11:15 So he beat some good guys in that run, but he's not knocking the doors down of a world championship. Mike Perry, on the other hand, had it much worse. But again, I believe that this fight is built on Nate Diaz. I don't think it's built on Mike Perry as much as people do. This is built on Nate Diaz, right? And he was four and four in his last four fights inside the UFC. But when you look at Perry, right,
Starting point is 00:11:41 He beat Mickey Gall, got beat by Daniel Rodriguez, got beat by Tim Means. He had got beat by Jeff Nill before that. If I Sita Leuke, excuse me. Pair was won in four in the last five, right? So it's not like these guys were knocking the doors down of a title fight. But what they do bring is that fun, exciting fight, that brawl, the build to the fight that's going to really make people pay attention. So while the Rousey fight and the Carrano fight was attention grabbing, right?
Starting point is 00:12:14 I can't say that I know what they're going to look like inside the octagon, but I do know that when I watch Nate Diaz and when I watch Mike Perry, I watch two dudes that very recently I have seen compete at the highest level of the sport of mixed martial arts, ignoring everything we're going to see in the build to the fight. I like that one. I like that one. And I also like, honestly, I also like that, uh, that,
Starting point is 00:12:44 There is somewhere that seems like it's real, right? Nothing's ever going to be the UFC. It just won't happen. But at least there, it seems like it's real. A real event on a real platform that gives these people and the ability to not only make a living, but have people tune in. It's free.
Starting point is 00:13:07 It's Netflix. It's one of the biggest platforms in the world. So Mike said, I can't just say F you because we're going to, going to do that when we get into the cage. That's the real F you. So what needs to be said is effing train hard because I'm going to try and hurt you. I'm going to try to hurt you.
Starting point is 00:13:25 So he's telling Nate Diaz. Now, hey, I believe Mike Perry, that dude broke Luke's teeth on the bottom. It was so bad. He beat up my boy. That shit was crazy, man. I believe that this fight card works, right? I believe that this fight card works. I kind of thought, if I'm being honest,
Starting point is 00:13:47 I kind of thought if it wasn't going to be Michael Chandler against Cona McGregor that the UFC may do Connie McGregor and Nate Diaz for a trilogy. I thought that would be the biggest fight. But obviously Nate decided something different and he's going in the Perry direction and I think it works. I think what they've done with this Carano-Rousy card has made a real place for people to fight outside of the UFC.
Starting point is 00:14:15 And I'm honest, Competition is a good thing. It always is and always has been And it always will be And I love seeing guys have the ability To go out there and make some money. So yeah, congratulations, that was good. I'm excited.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I'm actually excited, you know. Hey, but for people saying Compared to the White House card, no chance. Guys, come on. The White House card is the best card of the year for sure. And it's better than that.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Let's just be completely honest. Until next time, guys, like, subscribe, tell your friends, tell their friends. D.C.'s got a YouTube channel, and I'm checking in with you guys multiple times a week. Hey, let me know all those comments, though. What are you thinking about this fight? Which one are you most excited about when it comes to Karano versus Rousey?
Starting point is 00:15:03 And boy, Ranza's got a lot to say, maybe I'll make a video on that one, too. Until next time, peace. Hey, guys, it's us and the Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Starting point is 00:16:01 We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and I-Hart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they hit a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva. And on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be? I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to futas to scheduling sex.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Wait, what sex? Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes?
