This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever

The volume.
Guys, I'm here with the chant.
The Funkmaster, Al Jemaine Sterling, Al Jol.
Thanks for checking in with my brother.
Again, how you feeling?
Three months later, crazy. We're back here.
Fast. Right back here.
You know, I just talked to Sean O'Malley, and I asked him, I said, you guys,
Aljo beats Henry Shihudo and completes his, his...
story, right? You beat all the former champions and then you come in and it's a scene. You want
a scene. That's the one thing you want is a scene, right? Because the clip gets played over and
over again and everything. But then you said you don't want to fight. I said, how did the fight
come about this quickly? Well, this is what the UFC wanted. After talking with them, this was
the best card for me to get on. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to fight for quite some time and I
don't want to wait that long. So I was like, you know what? Basically,
on everything we discussed, this is, this makes the most sense career-wise and, uh, just
opportunities that come with this, you know?
You know, when you, I didn't want nobody else to beat him before I did.
So I was like, I was like, I don't want to pass that up.
But he just beat Peoria, right?
Like, it is a while ago.
Yeah, but I'm saying it has to be something, right?
There's something about this kid because nobody's beating him yet.
I mean.
Or Chito beat him.
Chito sent him.
Who do you mean, sent him?
Like full send.
You're so stupid.
Full send.
But you want that fight, right?
He's a star.
He's a person that people recognize.
And it can't just be because of the look.
It's got to be because of the fighting skill.
Because you know people don't want to,
they don't want to see a person come into the game
and have everything kind of given to him.
Everybody pointed to it, me included.
What's in the matchup?
I don't know if Sean O'Malley's real.
But then he beat Peoria and you start to think,
Well, if he can beat him in striking, this kid obviously has something.
Yes.
I agree with that.
I think he showed really good striking in that fight, even though I still think, I feel like Yon still outstruck him.
I feel like Yon won the fight, but I'm not a judge.
O'Malley won.
He's here.
His guys show that he's legit.
I mean, to go toe to toe with a guy like Peyodor, I think it's not easy to do.
So he joined the team of Serolongo guys who beat Piotr.
Well, I don't know.
count what Marab did as a win.
That was a blood was boring, man.
Just what Maraul at wrestling.
I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding. He's right there.
I'm just kidding.
It was awesome.
I didn't ever see nobody shoot 50 times
in a match before him.
It was crazy.
He's a monster.
Sean O'Malley, it's a weird deal, right?
I have all these group messages.
Yeah.
And some people are like,
man, I worry about this fight for Aljo.
Some people are like,
Aljo's going to smash his dude.
It's like everybody is on either one side of the fence
that this can be super.
we're competitive and he has a chance, or most people expect you to just wipe him out.
And when you look at the matchup, if you're able to implement your game plan, it would seem
as though you have a big advantage in the fight.
But is it as simple as if you take him down, it's your fight, and if it's on the feet, it's
his fight?
I think it really just depends on how much he's improved on the ground defensively.
I mean, he can say whatever he wants about his leg, his ankle.
That don't have nothing to do with your guard.
attention and how to use your arms when Cheetah was on top of you. He hammerfished you once and put your lights out.
With my fight with Maraeriza, he keeps talking about that. I know he can get his light shut out. Like,
dude, I legitimately lay that up to him and giving him that opportunity to connect like that.
And this one was, you had no choice. You were on the ground. You got a hit once and you're donezo, bro.
So people on both sides, it could go either way. And that's what I like about this matchup. It's a
dangerous fight for sure but I'm I'm proven you know all these all these guys
they all keep coming up with the same thing oh he does this he does that
wrong all this is ugly he doesn't look good he looks awkward so do something
about it bro it's literally that simple come in here and do something about it
let's see if Sean's the guy to show the world the goods I was gonna ask you
that right so that was this great movie a while back was called the great white
hype you remember that when it was Damon Waynes and he was like a boxing
champion they built a guy to fight him
him, Sean O'Malley obviously has much more than that challenger, but it seems as though so many
people are backing him because of all the hype.
There's a lot of hype behind Sean O'Malley.
Do you think that maybe the idea that this is so competitive is because of all the flash
and the glamour and the glitz that surrounds this kid?
Because I thought Jose Aaldo expected that with Cona McGregor.
He didn't think Cona McGregor was that real, and then you saw what happened to him.
But do you think that Sean O'Malley actually deserves that because of what he has done inside the Octagon?
You know, that counterfight with Aldo was interesting because it's a very similar situation.
And the thing about it that's...
What the fuck is what I'm doing?
Mara's listening to music.
Maraub's listening to music and shit, man.
What do you mean, sorry?
I'm just kidding.
Mara's the bear.
I love this guy.
That fight was interesting because I think Aldo got so fed.
up and emotionally charged that he went in wild styling.
He gave McGregor exactly what he wanted and the type of reaction.
I'm always saying the same thing.
Oh, he just makes one mistake and I could put his lights out.
I understand that.
But do you think I'm really coming in there to make that mistake?
You think I'm coming in there, running in there, reckless?
I'm going to take my time.
I'm going to cut the cage off.
And eventually his feet are going to hit that black line.
When he throws and he keeps throwing and he realizes,
I'm not going anywhere and I keep pushing him backwards,
there's only so much you can run.
around the cage, you can't run for 25 minutes.
Eventually, I'm going to close that gap, take them down.
And I'm not looking to shoot.
I'm looking to tie them up, upper body style.
I'm not giving them any opportunities to attack knees, front kicks up the middle.
No, no, no, we're going to close the gap, put some leather in his face, and drag them down to the ground.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.

Listen to stuff to blow your mind on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. All right, guys, today's interview is brought to you by the new movie, Grand
Charismo. It's based on the unbelievable true story of a team of
likely underdogs, a struggling world-class gamer, a failed former race car driver, and an idealistic
motorsport executive. Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the entire world.
It's directed by Neil Bloom Camp. The movie features an unbelievable cast, led by David Harbour,
alongside Orlando Bloom, Jamon Hansu, Jerry Hallowell Horner, and Archie Medecue as Jan
Martinborough. Some of the most famous racing competition.
in the world are recreated through the use of actual Nissan GTs, drones, and practical
effects. Guys, these racing sequences are so realistic that the real-life Jan Martinboro himself
actually served as the stunt driver for the film. This is a movie that needs to be seen on
the big screen. Don't watch it at home. Get out to the movie theater. Grand Charismo is an
inspiring, thrilling, an action-pack story that proves that nothing is impossible.
when you're fueled from within.
Grant Charismo is exclusively in movie theaters.
August 25th, with special sneak previews this weekend.

You do a great job of cutting people off.
I think people, like, they don't recognize that you never follow.
You always kind of hedge your opponent off.
Yes.
And then as you're heading them off, they end up with their back to the octagon,
and that's when you start to implement your game plan.
Sean O'Malley is in this championship fight with you.
And obviously this morning, I saw him on,
first take and it's like a lot of people are talking to him when I talk about you I
always talk about you in historical terms I think it's time that we stop talking about
Al Jermaine Sterling is the Bannamweight champion of the world I think we start talking
about Al Jermaine Sterling maybe the best Bannonweight of all time because you are
littered across the record books do you ever look at that and say man I've done some
pretty good fucking work in the time that I've been in here especially after you
did lose that fight in Fresno where you got knocked out like you look back and go man
For me to reset and be where I am today after that, I've done some good work.
You know, I never look at the records.
I don't even know when people tell me these things.
I tell you that shit all the time, too.
Because I hate the disrespect.
I don't understand why people don't respect you more for what you've done.
I don't know what it is.
It's the first yon fight, I think, because that was my biggest platform.
And then their introduction to Al Jermaine Sterling was a mountain-nourish funkmaster
that got neat in the head and they thought he was acting.
And I admit, I look back at that, and I look at myself when I'm rolling around, I'm like, yeah, that does look pretty bad.
That does look pretty bad.
I don't want you to see that.
It's not a little of my stuff and shit.
It is pretty funny.
So I understand their sentiment with that.
Well, tell me why you rolled around like that then.
That was fucking hurting, bro.
I'm not hurt, but you say you look back on it and you're like, I'm like, that looks crazy.
Okay.
Like, I understand.
It was a bad legal knee, though.
Yes.
And that's why I'm like, I didn't know there was a rule with highest.
I'm like, dude, I got blindside.
I didn't see it.
Yeah.
It hurt me, clearly, and I was exhausted already at that point.
But how much do you have to do to erase that?
Erase that.
It's like you've beaten everybody in one in tremendous fashion.
Because honestly, I thought you beat Henry Sehudo, and I don't think that fight was as close as people are making it out to be.
I agree.
I thought you won that fight pretty handily, and Henry's one of my friends and Olympic teammates.
But when you look at this division, there are a lot of young guys, but you say you're out.
I mean, you say that after this, when they're lose, you're going up to $1.45?
I'm 34 years old now, man.
Like, getting down to 135 isn't the most ideal thing.
I think I would have accomplished more than enough
should I get past Sean O'Malley on Saturday
that I would have earned.
I don't like stuff given to me.
I would feel like I've earned my shot to go to 145
and do something.
And fight for the belt.
And fight for the belt.
One of those things that's the unthinkable, you know?
People put all these labels and caps on us
on what we can do,
because their shortcomings or what they think they watch
and what they think they know.
Like, you don't dictate my future.
I dictate my future by the work I put in behind closed doors
and then what I do in the octagon.
And on August 19th, man,
I plan on putting on some serious work
and earning my shot.
Do you guys not like each other?
Because the moment he went into that octagon,
you guys were drawing at each other
and that's to be expected, right?
You can draw at each other.
But it seemed like your whole face change
when he walked in there.
Like, you look like you were mad at him
and any time you talk.
about him, you still smile, but it seems like there's something there. Is there something more
to this fight? Is it, is it a little personal? Like, and if it is, what is it? He's trying to take
something from me that I worked extremely hard and extremely diligently to get to, and he's had all
the short cuts in the world to get here. And that for me doesn't sit right. So, um, so what are
the shortcuts? The short cuts are these handpicked fights. You think the matchups? It's almost, it's almost as
annoying is when Jan got a title shot
for the vacant title after
beating your eye a favorite. Who was just
retired? You know what I mean?
Yeah. He didn't fight no one in the top five, but he
got a title shot. But I just beat the number
I think three ranked guy in the world
in Corey Sainaghanagan and I wasn't getting
a title shot. So it's just like
I don't like when people get
to cut the line. Like this is
one of those sports where it should be merit.
But we know what we're in is the entertainment
business and the UFC's going
to put the matchups on that they think that the fight fans
want to see and I can't be mad at it but I understand it and it does bother me I can't be
mad if your boss gives you a raise and doesn't give me a raise right no so he's has the opportunity
now and that's pretty much what it is I want to beat up the teacher's pet and uh just show him that
like dude you got to earn your stripes here you got to earn your stripes well he earned that
stripe and he's getting an opportunity this weekend what does saturday look like for aljama
sir and like what do you envision when you see this fight playing up
I see myself being larger than charge, walking forward, cutting the cage off,
pushing his guy backwards.
Eventually he's going to make a mistake.
It might be like San Hagan throw a bad kick.
It might be like T.J.
and throw a bad kick.
I seem to have a habit of catching kicks and taking people down.
So we'll see if he's learned from these other guys and mistakes,
or he might throw something overcomit and give me an opportunity to close that gap,
take him down.
I'm sure he's going to be more than ready, but we're ready.
Are you the greatest band weight of all time?
I let the fans decide that.
I'm just, I wouldn't know what you think.
I think I am him.
Talk your shit, though.
Like, talk your shit, Aljo.
Like, are you the best bandweight of all time?
I just say I'm him, bro.
That's it.
I know I'm him right now, whether it's the greatest of all time,
I'm comfortable in my own skin and everything I've accomplished with my team.
And I look forward to just add into that resume.
Mara, my friend, come here, Mara.
Put that phone away, Mara.
Come here.
Come here right here.
Talk to me.
Maraub, you try to me.
with Aljo all week?
Like what is the expectation for this weekend, him and Sean O'Malley?
Can Sean O'Malley compete with this guy?
No way.
Aljo will dominate him.
Dominate everywhere.
Even, I think, no, of course, we all know it's nothing secret.
Algeo's grappling in the wrestling is the best.
But even striking, you know, Aljo's good.
He's been fighting, he don't got touched.
Like, no.
Like, I may, Aljo can strike too.
Don't take my job.
You already try to take my job.
I'll be seeing this guy coming up to my job and shit.
Today, he's, you know,
He already training once, he's going to train one more.
Yesterday, he training maybe at least five guys,
and then he did very well against all of them.
Yeah, even he was training with Al.
Al, we don't know he's big now.
He's going to be a lot, man.
He's doing very well against big guys.
And I can only imagine what he's going to do against O'Mali, you know.
He's always training.
When he does jiu-jitsu, he trains with big guys.
He always training hard.
So let's say, for example, me in the gym, I tap, I get takedown, you know, whatever.
Aljo, he always winning.
He always, like, he always going hard.
And I know his mentality.
He never taps, you know.
He never taps in the gym outside.
He always, I know his mentality, you know.
And, of course he's going to dominate on money, you know.
I'm very confident.
And that's why he's the champion of the world.
Al Jermaine Sterling, Marab Duolos, really kind of saying, you know, the things that he sees in the gym.
Obviously, the work is being done.
What do you want to tell the fans to look forward to this weekend as you take on Sean O'Malley?
What do I want to tell them?
You know, this is what, I guess this is what the opportunities of a lifetime looks like, you know.
We don't have many kind of McGregor-like figures in our division, so I want to just make sure I capitalize.
on this moment, this opportunity, put on a great show for the fans.
I know they're saying they hope I'm not coming in to hug his back.
Trust me, I ain't coming in there to caress him and hug his back and whisper sweet,
nothing's in his ear.
I'm coming out there to punish this man.
So TD Garden, I hope you guys are ready, Boston fans and all the fans across the world.
Make sure you guys tune in because the funk show is ending the sugar show.
It's been nice watching you grow up in this thing, man.
Watching you from where you started to where you are today.
You see 170, man.
Amazing, bro.
Same fault with me on his first fight in the UFC.
Al Jermaine had, they gave him the biggest shorts that they could find in the back.
They didn't have nothing left.
So they just gave Alger what was in the equipment room and not his dude is the king of the world.
My man, the funk master, Al Jermaine Sterling, defense his championship, UFC 292 this weekend.
Make sure you guys purchase the pay-per-view to watch this man once again try and prove why he's the greatest band-in-weight of all time.
In my opinion, you know, I might get a text message behind that, but it is what it is.
In my opinion.
I still love you, I still love you, Dominic.
Like, subscribe.
Make sure you guys tap into Al Jermaine's YouTube channel too.
Doing some fun stuff over there.
Until next time, guys, peace.
