Starting point is 00:02:47 See dkng.com slash B-Ball for eligibility and deposit restrictions, terms, and responsible gaming resources. All right, guys. Time to wrap. UFC 300 got the boys breaking it down. Look at Max behind. Sorry, look at my boy. You don't even know my name. Miles behind me.
Starting point is 00:03:12 I called him Max because everybody's thinking about Max, right? After that performance, why wouldn't we all be saying Max? My boy, Miles, breaking everything down again. Oh, my God. What a night UFC 300 was. You know, many of times you get promised things by promoters, by business, by organizations and there's just no way that they can deliver. You know, when you were told time and time again,
Starting point is 00:03:46 this was going to be the greatest fight card ever. I would have been okay knowing that most of all these guys are selling. There will be fight cards that live up to this. But in terms of importance, when a fight card needed to deliver, I don't know if you've ever seen one like this in that moment under those circumstances. So let's start at the main event. Alex Pereira, but Ada, has done something that I never thought was possible. He has made this sport look doable to have a skill set or a skill in one discipline that is so elite that it doesn't.
Starting point is 00:04:34 It doesn't matter if you're fighting the best in the world, you can get the job done and you can become a champion. He still can't wrestle. He's a kickboxing. But he has now, in less than three years, guys, won the middleweight championship, won the light heavyweight championship, defended the light heavyweight championship. Headline UFC 300. Headline UFC Madison Square Garden. Two times. The run in the UFC. U.S.C. career that this man has had. And the amount of time that he's had it, it was really unharolded. He walks into the octagon with that in tits walk out. Jamal staring at him the whole time.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Jamal is in tit. Jamal said from the moment that you would listen or anyone within the airshot that he would stand with this guy, he was not going to take him down and he was going to knock him out. So the fight starts and Alex is kind of cautious. He's throwing outside leg. but he's maintaining distance making sure that he doesn't put himself in any dangerous conditions.
Starting point is 00:05:43 But there was a time in the middle of the first round where you could see that his level of respect for what was coming back in his way was starting to feel less dangerous to him. Rogan said you could see that he didn't feel like the technique was up to par because Jamal was kind of winging punches at him. And that is part of Jamal's appeal, right?
Starting point is 00:06:10 He's unorthodox. He throws things from places you don't expect him to throw him. But you can't do that against a guy like Alex. When he started to press him and he started to back Jamal against side of the octagon, right away my broadcast partner said he's very aggressive. He was aggressively pursuing Jamal. He's moving forward. We all know how dangerous the left hook of Alex Pereira is.
Starting point is 00:06:35 He throws like a shovel hook. He hits Jamal with the outside knuckles. He doesn't even connect with all of this. He hits him with these two knuckles, drops him. Jamal's eyes roll back in his head. Jumontz on him, gets the finish. Herb Dean saw her legs get hit low. Alex stiff arms him.
Starting point is 00:06:57 No, I got it. I'm okay. 20 seconds later, the fight's over. I don't know. You never seen anything like. The last guy to take this sport by storm like this was another kickboxing, it was Israel Adasania. Etisania became the champion in a very short period of time.
Starting point is 00:07:16 But I don't know that it resonated as much because he wasn't just knocking people out like Alexis. He took the guy that beat his mentor and he finished him in a round. So it has to feel good for him to have a vengeance fight that Gloverland. You know, I remember when we were in Singapore and Jamal won the belt and Alex was a middleweight champion at the time. He saw him staring a hole through Jamal Hill. We all wondered what would happen if these two fought? Well, tonight we found out.
Starting point is 00:07:51 We found out that Alex Panetta is just on a different level. You know, he's such a nice guy that you're happy for his success and hell. even said he'd like to fight in Brazil next month. John did say, though, there's word that he did hurt his foot, so we're being a little bit optimistic, but you never know. I am not going to ever put anything past this man again in my life because he has been so impressive to this. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:08:25 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's super. Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:08:51 A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'll say it. Yep, that's me, Clipper Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
Starting point is 00:09:08 And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,
Starting point is 00:09:24 and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space. For honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me, or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be.
Starting point is 00:09:43 Listen to The Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-taped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill?
Starting point is 00:10:04 Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so you all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
Starting point is 00:10:31 so I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And guys, you can't even wrestle yet. Imagine when he can wrestle. It'll be unbeatable. And he kind of has proven. to be unbeatable to this point in his career right. John Waley defending her championship. Guys, I take full accountability for saying that they might have gained smell and salt.
Starting point is 00:11:11 I didn't know what happened. But I guess what Rudy told me, hats off the impact coming here. He goes, you can press here. You don't put your finger in the nose like people are saying. He said you press here. And it opens up your nose. It opens up your breathing passages as she had been knocked out by the choke. So hats off to Rudy because all the success that Jan Shaunan had would not have happened
Starting point is 00:11:38 if she didn't get that great work by the cut man, waking her back up and bringing her back to the point that she was still in the fight. I was wrong, and I am not above admitting that. But once again, the night belonged to Jean-Weilly. She adjusted. She got her second win, and when she got her second win, she dominated the last part of the fight with her grappling and her control. So, hands off to the champ, who was proven to be a very difficult one for anyone.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Max Holloway and Justin Gagey fought for the BMF title. We all knew this would be a great fight. We all knew that these two guys would deliver. What we didn't know, though, was that Max Holloway would look as dominant in being as much controlled as he was over Justin Gage. You know, as fighters and athletes, we all live for moments. But those moments matter more when you have the right. person standing across the octagon basketball court football field or whatever you play against you tonight justin's toughness was on full display but max holloway the lightweight max holloway the
Starting point is 00:12:47 max holloway who's got the weight on the right way the max holloway who wasn't just like he said muffin top max the last time showed that with his skill set he's tough he went up and beat the number of contender. Justin Gatchi after being Dustin Porier for the BMF title, could have had a title fight, but instead he put it all in the line for you guys to fight Max Holloway. And ultimately, he lost the fight and lost his opportunity at a championship. The night belongs to Max, man. He pitched a masterpiece. He was on his feet. He was moving. His box was on point. He heard He gets you many of times, but he never got over excited when he did. He heard him in the fourth round.
Starting point is 00:13:36 He put a little pressure on him trying to finish when he realized he couldn't. He went back to his distance, went back to his control and doing the things that got him ahead in the fight. But that last 10 seconds, it worked out. But Max was up four to one. That could have went the other way. But ultimately, it led to one of the greatest finishes in any type of mixed martial arts fight I've ever seen in my life. To see Justin Gaichi go out like that, phase down, middle of the octagon, losing a BMS fighter with one second left, it was crazy. And it truly was an oh shit moment.
Starting point is 00:14:17 So my hand went to my head like, oh my God. And I thought to myself, what have I just seen? Because it was so unexpected. And then I watched the fighters' reaction. And I saw Gilbert Burns. And I saw Drake's Dupless C. And all the fighters like this are like this. It's these old shone moments that make mixed martial arts so special,
Starting point is 00:14:44 especially the UFC. We've never seen Max Bus Holloway look better. tonight he really did cement himself to and what's truly elite you know he could do so many things in fighting but it's the big things that will always get Max Holloway out of bed you know when they pan to Iliot to pour you at so many people tell me he looks scared I will never believe that a USC champion is scared I do not believe Iliad Taforia is scared but after watching Max Holloway tonight I think he might have a better understanding of the challenge that is standing at his doorstep.
Starting point is 00:15:26 Because if the last time you saw him fight at 1.45 is what you take your opinions of Max Holloway from, it may give you a little more confidence. But tonight, you saw Max Holloway at his best born. And still today at 32 years old, 12 years already into the UFC, you know at his best Max Holloway can beat anybody. Armant Taruki and beat Charles Olivaira. He himself called for a title shot. I'm not opposed to it. Bo Nichols got a submission.
Starting point is 00:15:58 He was very disappointed performance for help. He must be setting his sights really high because I thought he did pretty good for a guy who only had six fights. Hearing Prohasker showed again why he is the man. He got beat up early and ultimately finished the fight. Aljo's successful in the Featherway debut. Kayla Harris, successful,
Starting point is 00:16:17 in her UFC debut. Hats off to them. I think Kayla should fight for the belt next. Diego Lopez finishes the Dique Youssef in that way. I could have never expected that. I never would have thought that this young man would have that type of performance in that situation.
Starting point is 00:16:36 So he's on to something bigger. Davidson's Biggerado finish Cody Garbrand, Bobby Green. In a bounce back fight, fought wonderfully against Jim Miller. Jessica Andrash beat Marine. Rodriguez, in total, we had eight finishes. That is before I go, I want to touch on Jalen Turner and Atto Moikano really fast. Jalen Turner heard on Atomai Kano at the end of the first round,
Starting point is 00:17:02 and he tried to make his moment by walking away on the finish. He ultimately lost his fight. So I want Jailen to take this as a lesson. In all younger fighters, you do not try to make a moment, make a memory. You go finish the fight the way that you're trained to do it. that's jump on the guy in Fisher. And there is no honor in trying to walk away and not land the extra shot
Starting point is 00:17:25 that you think the guy doesn't deserve to take. You don't stop fighting until the referee jumps on you and takes you off of your opponent. Because it seemed like that fight was ready to be done for Jalen Turner. But ultimately, by not doing what he's trained to do, he ended up losing. So that's a lesson learned for that young man.
Starting point is 00:17:46 You hope you don't make those mistakes again. What a night from a T-Mobile Arena. UFC 300 was better than any of us could have ever expected. It delivered above and beyond. So congrats to the champions. Every one of them. Congrats to everyone that will earn bonuses that got victories. My goodness.
Starting point is 00:18:06 What a night from Las Vegas. Guys, thank you all this is happening to my stuff. Like, subscribe, tell your friends, tell their friends that D.C.'s got a YouTube channel.
