Starting point is 00:03:55 than a big fight getting announced. And whether it's in the UFCR unboxing, it gets you excited because you know it brings you back to those memories of when you were a kid and you got excited for the big boxing fight or as the new generation, the big mixed martial arts fight.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Today, we are going to talk about the big fight that was announced last night between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, which is going to be bananas, but there's also an extra bit to it that we will get into during today's episode, which is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC.
Starting point is 00:04:33 They're in your corner with unlimited 5GD, data that will not slow you down. So last night, Canelo Alvarez fights, and at times, when a guy is as dominant as Canelo, his dance partner will not engage or will not fight
Starting point is 00:04:54 at the level that you expect a championship level boxing fight at because of the fear, the worry of what may happen. Nobody wants to become a highlight. Last night, Canelo Alvarez had a fight. That was essentially the case. The guy kind of ran the whole time. And Conno, while winning, it wasn't the performance that makes you go,
Starting point is 00:05:12 oh, my God, I love this guy, right? This is why we tune into Canelo. You know Canello is box office. We know Canelo's money. But when you don't have a dance partner, it's hard to make those memories. The memory coming out of that fight last night was that at the end of it, Sheik Turkey, Riyadh season, and Karen, Crawford walks into the ring.
Starting point is 00:05:39 We get it. It's official. Conello Alvarez will now fight Terrence Crawford, September 12th, Allegiant Stadium. He'll defend this ring magazine championship against Bud, giving Bud an opportunity to become a three-time
Starting point is 00:05:54 world champion, three divisions, Super World Champion, Mr. Everything. Clearly, they are not the same size. Terence Crawford used to be a small guy. Now he's grown into what will be about a 154 pounder, I'd imagine. They'd fight around 154, 160. Louise, I would love if you can give me
Starting point is 00:06:14 what weight class of me contested at. TV deal and the TV rights will be announced a little later. But I'm not the guy that wants to throw cold water on it. But let's call it a spade, exactly what it is, a spade. In boxing, and this is where the UFC differs. And this is why Zoufa boxing could potentially,
Starting point is 00:06:42 if they change the game, move us back into a day where guys were fighting each other in their primes. When Roy Jones and Mike Tyson fought over the hill. But that was still the 10th biggest pay-per-view of all time. They sold 1.6 million pay-per-view buys. When Lennox Lewis fought Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson was over the hill. Top five pay-per-view of all time.
Starting point is 00:07:04 1.9 million paper view buys. Floyd was smart, fought Canelo very early, sold 2 million buys. Floyd was smart, fought Connor because he was big, sold 4.3 million buys. And then Floyd fought Manny, and they sold 4.6 million buys. That was the biggest pay-per-view of all time in boxing.
Starting point is 00:07:27 With that being said, Floyd and Manny started to circle each other a very long time ago. They fought when Floyd was 38, was 36. Many people thought we were three to four years past when they should have fought. By the time Terrence Crawford and Canello fight, Bud will be 36, Canello will be 34 years old. Now, I'm not saying those guys are done. By no means, they're still the two best boxers in the world. But imagine if we got those guys in their late 20s, right, or three to four years ago.
Starting point is 00:07:58 It is still going to be a monster. I don't imagine it's going to be anything less than super successful, but should it have happened a couple years ago, here's where I believe we are going to be saved in this regard. They're just as good as they've always been. Crawford is 41 and no 31 kills, going up to 154, going to fight Canello at 154. He's won world titles at lightweight, super lightweight, Walterweight, and Super Walt'sweight. So he's been a champion everywhere.
Starting point is 00:08:34 But Bud's going to make Canela fight at 54. I don't know that Canelo's been fighting at 54 for a while. Remember all those B-ball fights were up at like 175 for Canello Alvarez? They're two of the best boxers in the world. They're not, oh, sorry, they're going to fight at 168. Yes, Canello's been fighting up at like 175. Crawford going up from 154 to fight him at 168. blending vice's signature dynamic storytelling with the high-octane world of sports
Starting point is 00:09:04 vice sports brings an exciting and diverse range of programming that goes beyond the game catch action-packed live events and exclusive sports documentaries and profiles only on vice TV hey it's us the Jonas brothers and guess what we have some big news what's the news huge news we created our own podcast called hey Jonas we invented a podcast well we didn't invent it we just contributed to us first people to do podcast A pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:09:39 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
Starting point is 00:09:59 for people could call in and say, hey Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy,
Starting point is 00:10:20 not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and headwriter Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
Starting point is 00:10:37 We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis. And I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs.
Starting point is 00:10:56 And on the Renee Stubbs' tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything, happening at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Jenchian win. I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lerner Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle. Right. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. These are phenomenal fighters.
Starting point is 00:12:08 They're both still in their prime. Most UFC champions aren't even under 30. I don't know that we have one under 30, male champion right now. So they're in their athletic prime, right? 30 to 35. But a couple years ago, it might have had a little more steam because they didn't have that performance like Canelo. had last night. With that being said, Dana White's going to promote this thing. And because Dana White is going to promote this thing, I feel like it'll bring a different level of
Starting point is 00:12:43 interest into the UFC. Iliate Toporio is 27. Oh, he's not the champion though. Ilya was 27 at Featherweight. He was the champ. He's not the champ anymore since he vacated that belt. It's a, it's a no champions under 30 years old. So they're still in their athletic prime. I wish I got to see it a couple years ago when Canello was a little smaller. I thought Canello has gotten, he's not as good as he was when he was fighting at 154, 160
Starting point is 00:13:13 because he's a little bigger, carrying more muscle, but I think it's going to be a blockbuster event. It's going to be one of the biggest paper views we've ever seen. It's going to be highly competitive. And I do believe that that added element that Dana is going to be promoting, that Riyadh season is going to be promoting, is going to make more people tap in
Starting point is 00:13:30 to what's going on in this big fight. They're going to sell out of Legion Stadium. I'm going to be there front row. I'm not missing this. Terence Crawford is a great guy. His sons are tremendous wrestlers. Boxers. They do everything.
Starting point is 00:13:45 I know Terrence from the wrestling. I know how motivated he is to fight this fight. I know that Canelo Alvarez is as good as anyone we've seen in a long time. True legend of boxing. It's a massive fight. I hope that it can deliver what and match or exceed the expectation. You know, growing up, they always put the two best guys together when it felt like they were supposed to be together.
Starting point is 00:14:13 It still feels like we haven't missed the window for these two. And I feel like this is going to be a big fight, a good fight, a fun fight, and a true competition between the best boxers of the entire world. So September 12th, Allegiance Stadium. Los Vegas, promoted by Dana White, promoted by TKO, promoted by Riyadh season, tap into Canelo Alvarez, defending his ring magazine championship against the great Terrence Crawford. You know, I love when things come together.
Starting point is 00:14:46 This is finally coming together. I believe it's going to be fun. That's a fight that was just made last night. But a fight that's actually happening is UFC 315 this weekend. Montreal as Belaw Muhammad takes on Jack Delamadalina. So UFC 315 goes down this weekend. So this is going to be my performance playbook brought to you by Rose Sparks. So guys, Belaw Muhammad versus Jack Delamadalana is a massive fight.
Starting point is 00:15:15 There are two things that have to happen for these guys. One for Belaw, one for Jack Delamadalana. If Belaw Muhammad is going to be successful in his first title defense, he has to look and fight in the same way that he fought Leon Edwards. He's got to have a lot of pressure. He's got to secure takedowns. And he's got to keep Jack guessing because if Jack Delamattelana is able to just stand and strike with him, but Law is going to be out of his element.
Starting point is 00:15:43 But when he mixes everything together, the wrestling, the takedowns, the striking, he can fight anyone. And he really can overwhelm you. That is why he knocked out Sean Brady. and that is why he truly outclass Leon Rocky Edwards. So, Val-Mahman has to be that full mixed martial artist, and the pressure has got to be, it's got to be very present. From the start of the fight, he's got to mix in the takedowns
Starting point is 00:16:08 and use those takedowns to keep Jack Della off base. And for Della Madalena, he's got to defend takedowns. And here's the deal. There was a fight that Jack Della fought in the Apex against a kid, and I don't know his name, Louise, Jack Delamadena fought this kid a while back. The kid was taking him down, almost beat him on short notice, takedowns, uh, I can't what's that guy's name?
Starting point is 00:16:32 Let me look it up. This is going to drive me crazy. It can't look like that. The fight cannot look like that for Jack Delamadena. It's against, hold on, guys. You guys want to, you guys want to come. You guys want to, it was not Anglosa, Luis. Louise just out here guessing, bro.
Starting point is 00:16:51 Like, come on, though. You can't. That's why I'm Googling it because I can't guess. Basil Hafez, it was Basil Hafez, in the apex, and he was losing, had to have a very good third round to win that fight because Hafez successfully took him down over and over again. That can't happen. If that starts to happen against a fighter at the level of Belal Muhammad,
Starting point is 00:17:14 he's not getting the job done. He has got to stay upright. He's got to move on the outside and he's got to pick at Belaw Muhammad. He can't get excited. excitement in this fight for Delamadelaina will lead to problems. He's got to make sure he fights at his pace, his range, and really control the tempo of this fight.
Starting point is 00:17:31 This is a massive fight. This is an absolute massive fight at 170 pounds. And honestly, I'm very excited that we finally get to see Belal Muhammad defend that championship. But in terms of my performance playbook, it's takedowns, pace and pressure from Belaw Muhammad. It is defend takedowns, control the range, control the distance,
Starting point is 00:17:52 and poking prod at Belaw Muhammad if you're Jack Delah Madalena. Guys, I know that Belal and Jack Della are going to perform inside the Octagon, but if you want to perform at a championship level, man, how old my people at Rose Sparks? Because Rose Sparks is the best when it comes to the performance, and they are the best in the business.
Starting point is 00:18:14 So that's my performance playbook for Jack Della Madalena to become champ and for Belaw Muhammad to retain, presented to you by, by Rose Sparks. Guys, I'm on my way to Canada right now. I cannot wait to get to Montreal. The fight fans there are insane. It's going to be a great weekend.
Starting point is 00:18:30 So until next time, like, subscribe, and tell you friends, the DEC's got a YouTube channel. Get ready for Canelo versus Crawford. Get rally for Jack Della versus Belal Mohammed. Get ready for Monfeior versus Valentina Shevchenko. It's going to be sick this weekend and it's going to be sick in Allegiance Stadium
Starting point is 00:18:46 come September 12th. Until next time, peace. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas.

And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was probably.
Starting point is 00:20:07 You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming to him. He's like, you know, I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball.
Starting point is 00:20:18 So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Your husband is not who you think he is.
