UFC 301 just wrapped from Rio de Janeiro. It was a fantastic fight card. You know, so many great performances. And what I have learned in this job is that the fight cards that don't. seem to have the depth. That's the ones that generally will deliver. We got exactly that tonight UFC 301. Let me try to reposition my camera here. There we go. This is better. Let me get that that thing back there, Miles. There we go. So that's exactly what we got tonight, UFC 301. We got really good performances by a lot of fighters, not only young up-and-comers, but

established stars. You know, we start at the main event as always. Alessandre Pantosia showed tonight why he is the champion of the world. It was fighting through the tough moments. Getting the takedowns when needed and also controlling when he got those takedowns. You know, I was a little bit surprised at how sure the corners were that their guys had won the rounds. I thought it was two to two going into the fifth, and that proved to be true. Because the fifth round ultimately is what decided the fight. You know, Erseg landed a beautiful elbow in the third round, big damage.

Pantoja had the takedowns and he had the top control, which allowed for him to win that round. They say the first judging criteria is damage. But I don't know if that should be now called sustained damage, because clearly the damage was on the side of Ersig. But it wasn't sustained. It was him landing a big shot that opened up the champion. And the champion visibly reacted to it, but he somehow pivoted, went right back to work, and then what he needed to do to keep his belt. I mean, the guy's impressive, man.

He starts at a crazy high pace. You always expect him to slow down. You never expect him to be able to carry that pace and beat these guys. Because tonight, he was in there with a guy that while many people didn't know him or didn't know the skills that he possessed, because he's only been here for like, a year. He was in there with probably the most dangerous competitor he will face for a long time. Ersseg fought a good fight, but ultimately his decision making in round five is what's going to really bother him and make for some real long nights as he goes forward because those fifth

round takedowns he didn't need. He just didn't. He was starting to have his way with the champ on the feet, but for some reason he decided to take him down. Pantoja out scramble. Pantosia's a great grappler. You don't want to spend the time with him down there as my boy Miles passes through. Liverpool's out guys in the Premier League, so he's not doing too well right now. But you don't want to be grappling with Pantosia. Steve Urseg essentially costing himself a UFC title tonight with those decisions. Now, I don't know how that fifth one would have played out. Pantosia might have recovered and fought a great fifth round on the feet. He might have.

But what we were watching didn't necessarily seem as though that would have been the case. But I love watching Pantosia. I loved watching him make the adjustments he needed in order to get the job done. He went at this kid and showed this kid what championship level fighting is. Erseg matched it, but he fell a tad bit short. You know, it's going to be interesting to see what happens with Alessandre Pantoja going forward because he seems to have all the things you want in a champion. He's got a very fun fighting style.

He's a good-looking guy. He's got a great story. He's got a great personality. So he's got all the things you want in your champ. But how do people get drawn to him? So that was his first pay-per-view main event. I thought it went well. People probably saw some of the empty seats in the arena.

Madonna has a concert here in Brazil tonight. Two and a half million people were there. Free concert for Madonna. Two and a half million people chose to go watch Madonna for free of posts coming here tonight. And I think the ones that didn't come missed some great fights and missed some great Brazilians get to perform on their home soil. So hats off to the champ. He shows why he's the best. And I think that tonight he fought his toughest competition, at least.

right now. And now there's two title defenses for Alessandre Pantoja, who just loves being a champ. Irsec will be back. I think that his ranking will go up with this performance, and it should. He's been here for less than a year, and he just fought the best in the world to a very close decision. But he looked at his corner right after him, goes one round, one round. That one round was the fifth round. That was the round that ultimately cost him to the belt. Co-main of it, Jose Aldo looked like Jose Aldo. It was amazing to watch him fight like he never missed the step. He fought so good.

He was fast as he's ever been. He was as disciplined in his striking as he's ever been. He fought a guy in Jonathan Martinez that I won six fights in a row. Now, that's four or five for Joseo Alto. Guys, I know he walked away after losing him, Rob DeWaulish Veili, and many called for his retirement. But before then, he had beaten Cheetah. who just fought for the belt.

And he had beaten Rob Font. He had beaten a number of guys before. And now we just beat another rank guy in Jonathan Martinez who was on a six-fight win streak. And honestly, guys, it wasn't that close. He won all three rounds. He fought beautifully. It just didn't seem like he has lost a step at all.

And he's 37, though. It didn't seem like he had lost a step. I asked him in the octagon, what's next? What's next for Jose Al do? He wasn't ready to committee. He said he's going to talk to Dana and Sean and Hunter to try to see what he wants to do. But for me, my hope is what comes out of that meeting is that Jose Aldo decides to continue. Because when I watch him in there, I know that he still has a lot to offer to the division.

Because at 37 at 135 pounds, two fighting that way is not easy. Those small guy weight classes are very tough to operate in. Guys, you go down to the third fight and Patrino fought against Anthony Smith. Anthony Smith submitted him in the first round. You know, it's just another one of those situations where a young guy makes a mistake and a veteran takes advantage of it. Anthony Smith has been in this sport for a long time. He's had over 50 fights his career.

He's seen the best. He said there are levels. He showed that there are levels. Petrino shoots that double leg. We are at the octagon side going Anthony's going again seeing him. But he just did not have the wherewithal to recognize the guillotine was coming. And then he was like frantically tapping, trying to get out of there. That's how tight that guillotine was.

And Anthony Smith told everyone that would listen all the way up to this fight, that he just did not believe the kid was as good as he was made out to beat. He went out there tonight and he showed it. He showed that there are levels. And he is on a different level than some of these younger athletes He's trying to make that way into the ranking. Michelle Pada once again did some crazy-ass shit and it worked. Now, it almost cost them guys.

When he did that backflip, the commission was looking at it to see if the knee landed, they were going to call an illegal hole. When I told him and his coached that you should have saw all the energy just drained from those guys. It looked like those men were going to cry because they thought that that great performance, that choke was going to get overturned and turned to a no contest because of the illegal strike. He's a wild man, and that's what makes him fun.

But in that moment, I hope he realizes that in some of those actions can be very dangerous. That would have been so unfortunate, though I'm so happy that they made the right decision. They said enough of the knee landed on the shoulder to not. But, I mean, I'm telling you, when I told him that they might take that from him, his heart just sunk. And then when I told the coach, I was like, yeah, you guys got it?

Like he won? I mean, just pure joy and jubilation. Then the other coach ran up to the other ones that were in the after him. He goes, oh, my God, they almost took him from us. It was crazy watching. Kyle Baha'allio knocked out Paul Craig, and now he shows that he's one of the young fighters that is ready to move his way into the rankings. I mean, this kid has tremendous skill, and he's fun. He's fun.

He's exciting, and he just loves fighting. This fighting nerd seemed pretty good. They put me some glasses. I look like Devon Dudley out there. with them glasses from the fight nerds that was awesome hey joe anderson breto is a real problem he kicked jack shore on the leg blood starts pouring out of his leg they stopped the fight because they thought that jack shore broke his leg he was so aggressive it was crazy um ruffy this dude right here big nut looking at my boy big kni say hi hey say hi there people big nod like Look at my boy right there.

That's the champ right there. Thank you, my brother. You're a minute. Yes, we got a great car. What a car. Always in Rio. Hey, but listen, this guy, Ruffy? Next level.

One of the best performances I've ever seen in from a debut in fighter. That's the guy that we should always be looking out. Hey, guys, UFC 301 was tremendous.
