Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.

Starting point is 00:01:04 Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. She can win.
Starting point is 00:01:21 She's an outsider to win the French fame. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any service. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcasts on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit, season two is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The volume. Look, the boys are double champ.
Starting point is 00:02:18 I'm your favorite podcaster. And now I'm an official role partner. Fellas, whether you're in or you're out of that bedroom with your partner, significant other, you got to satisfy those needs. It's as important as it come, guys. And one thing about Roe, when you're in that bedroom, Roe Sparks got you back with his long-lasting functionality, two-and-one prescription treatment for guys who just want a little more control of those erections.
Starting point is 00:02:44 You know the more thing get away from you every now and again if you're not careful. And it don't take long either because after they dissolve, they work in about 15 minutes on average. Hey, I love that. You're going to love that. So if prescribed, new sexual health patients, get $15 off, of your first order of Rowe Sparks on a recurring plan. So if prescribed new sexual health patients,
Starting point is 00:03:08 you get $15 off of your first order of sparks on a recurring plan. So connect with a provider at R.O.com slash DCTV to find out if prescription rose sparks are right for you. That's R0-DOT.C-O-S-D-C-T-V for $15 off of your first order. Hey, that don't have to thank me yet, but you will thank me later when you get on those Rows sparks. Let's go. Compounded drugs are permitted to be prescribed under federal law, but are not FDA approved
Starting point is 00:03:42 and do not undergo FDA safety. Effectiveness or manufacturing review. For full safety information, go to RO.CO slash safety info. What's up, guys? Hey, Montreal, Canada. getting ready for UFC 315. And, you know, honestly, press conferences, press conferences during the flight week,
Starting point is 00:04:12 they're not always the most valuable. But today I'm going to get into some big news that we got from yesterday's press conference. But first today's episode, as always, is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Guys, press conferences. Okay. Generally, it's a bit mundane, and you go there and the guys kind of argue, sometimes you might get a shoving match. But the highs in most of these press conferences are from the fight that's happening right there, right now, and it's the bad blood between the two. Some of the more fun press conferences I've been a part of or have seen was, you know, Jones and I had some interesting press conferences. We threw things at each other down in Texas once. Habib leaving when Conner was late for a press conference was a fun one. When Connor called Jeremy Stevens, I said, who is that guy?
Starting point is 00:05:12 It was also an interesting one. But it's always usually surrounding the fights, right? Guys yelling going back and forth. Yesterday's press conference, it wasn't necessarily surrounding the fight. The big news was Dana White got put on the spot. And let me tell you something about Dana. He shared something. it. But he only shares
Starting point is 00:05:33 what he wants to. So while it may seem like he's put on the spot, he was forced to answer, that's not the case. Dana White knows what he wants to tell and what he's willing to tell. So by him answering this question, Dana, I don't know what the word said,
Starting point is 00:05:51 he's going to fight either Islam or Charles Olavera for the title in June, in a national fight week. Is this true? or is it accurate? Dana goes, that's pretty accurate, right? So essentially that clip that we saw of Ilya on that Spanish TV show,
Starting point is 00:06:10 speaking about his fight at international fight. The interviewer is asking Tuporia who he's fighting, but Tepore you're saying he doesn't know who yet, right? And he starts to kind of talk about matchups, and Ilya's like, well, trying to take me down and taking me down is two different things. We're going to see what happens. When I heard this earlier in the week, the reason we didn't do a video was because a lot of guys have been talking, right?
Starting point is 00:06:36 There's been a lot of talk surrounding lightweight, but nothing has really happened. Now something's happening. And this weekend's fight became much more interesting for a number of reasons. First off, Walterweight Championship in the world is on the line, so it's an important fight. But the result of this weekend dictates two different weight classes. Makachev has openly spoke about wanting to fight at 170. Charles Sondon said that many in the weight class already recognized that. When Islam comes left, take a step back.
Starting point is 00:07:11 He said he and Gary publicly stated that. What I didn't know is how close he was to actually get the opportunity to do that, to actually challenge for the World to Weight Champions in the world, and that the only roadblock was Belaw Muhammad. So when Belaw Muhammad said earlier this week, dude, just schedule your fight, it's all good, I'm winning. You didn't realize that Islam's literally standing on the doorstep of a championship fight. And the only reason he's not going in to fight is because his friend, Belal Muhammad, is the champion.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Jack Delamadalina wins this weekend. Islam's getting a title fight. That's what Dana told us last night. Dana told us last night at that pressure that if Mahathev and Delamadalina for the one, to a championship is a possibility they are taking that. And exactly what Iliate Tabori told you, he will then fight Charles Olivaura for the UFC Lightly Championship. Now, has anybody like been luckier than Dubranks? Because Dubrons actually lost his title shot. Shot went to Armand. Charles Gisbee by Armand. Beek Michael Chandler.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Armand is supposed to fight for the belt. In Steps, Moikano. Olivaer, then gets pushed to the back it feels like because then here comes Ilya Armand needs a shot. Now it's going to be him if Islamahadchev goes up. And if Islamahajev isn't able to go up and Balal retains the championship, now you get Ilya to Forya versus Islamakacha. Dude, this whole thing, right, is so exciting to me, not only as an insider of this thing, but as just a general fan.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Because now you have a, seriously, by saying five words, what Ilya said is pretty accurate. Ilya said was pretty accurate. Like five words. He said five words. And it literally involved five different fighters with like four potential outcomes.
Starting point is 00:09:26 That's crazy. You saw Hunter, Campbell in Dagestan earlier in the week. You knew that for him to go there, he had to be doing big business, big business, to travel all the way over there to speak with those guys. It feels like now we're finally getting closer to what's next. I know earlier, Akatsyev said, didn't want to fight to pour you. I wonder what those conversations were like to come to some sort of agreement to make
Starting point is 00:09:59 that fight happened if B'Law keeps the championship. I also found it very interesting that he was speaking this publicly, Mahadjah, saying, if Jack gets the belt, I want a title fight. Crazy, crazy turn of events in that regard. For Islam to be willing now, to change his mind, to me, different. I've said this time and time again. Normally, when these guys make a decision, they're very stern in the way that they behave
Starting point is 00:10:40 when it comes to that decision. Kabib still should be fighting today. But because he made a decision, he stuck with it. And now he's been retired in five years. It's crazy. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall to hear that conversation in terms of how do we get you to fight
Starting point is 00:11:00 to pour you or how do we get you to commit to fighting at 170? I know Islam's not afraid of anyone. I know Ily is not afraid of anyone. Those guys will fight anybody. I'm just happy that now we've finally gotten to a point where we understand who is fighting who. All right, guys, UFC 315 goes down this weekend from Montreal. Starting point is 00:12:57 And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:13:07 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling. calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:13:30 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people are scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person

Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions,

Starting point is 00:16:18 So, International Fight Week, it's one of the biggest fight cards of the entire year. and we have been waiting to kind of understand and know what the hell is going on. How can it be so short that we don't know yet? Hell, I actually thought, guys, that not only did Hunter go there to talk to Islam, I thought Hunter was over there trying to talk to Mago Man on Kalaya and see if he might be available. And I'm still, I'm going to tell you this right now, I do believe that I love Alice forer, but I don't think it was hacked. I don't believe the hack story.
Starting point is 00:16:52 I believe that Alex Pereira probably got the news that someone else is going to fight for the belt, reacted. Then this thing with Makachev worked out to where it doesn't need to happen. So now he's okay. Hey, call me a rumor spreader to say I'm messy. I don't care. I think that he was presented a chance to fight on the international fight. Probably wasn't red. I'm not going to go fight a guy that just.
Starting point is 00:17:22 beat me when I'm not getting a full training camp. Okay, well, we're going to give the fight to someone else. He reacts. All the while this thing with Islam and Ilya and Bala and Jack and Charles, that's all in the works, right? It never stops. But when that comes to fruition, the 205 pound fight, okay, it's not necessarily needed. Okay? We're going to do this thing at 155, so you're fine. We can wait until you fight. I got hacked.
Starting point is 00:17:54 That's my opinion. Pereira might be mad at me. I don't know, but that's what I think happened if I'm being completely honest. But obviously, it all works well because Pereira does deserve
Starting point is 00:18:04 an opportunity to fight for it out. He should be next. So I'm glad that it worked out in the way that it did if that was the case. I'm turning into jail. I'm actually just telling you my opinions now at this point.
Starting point is 00:18:16 But when we do know for sure, I'll hit the poor he's fighting on June 28th, just like he said, he will stand across the oxyel. from either Islam Ocatchew or Charles O'Levara. Saturday became much more important for two weight classes. What's your preference? Tell me in the comments.
Starting point is 00:18:33 What's your preference? Is your preference on June 28th to see Islam versus Ilya or is your preference to see Islamahev stand across the octagon from Jack Delamatta, Adela, Atlanta down the line to become a two-division champion? Here's one thing that's become very apparent, though. the UFC is not doing double champs anymore. You've seen it. Ilya said he wanted to go up and fight for the belt.
Starting point is 00:18:59 He vacated. Islam's waiting for Saturday because if he decides he wants to go up and fight for the belt, he's going to have to vacate because Charles and Ilya will fight for that belt in June. The UFC has now taken a hard stance against double champions. They don't want one belt or one person holding up two weight classes. Not everybody's Amanda Nunes. Not everybody's willing to fight between two weight classes. It's a hard thing to do.
Starting point is 00:19:26 And you can tell they've taken that stance. That's why Islam's having to wait for Saturday's result. Saturday night, a lot of things will either change or stay the same with Belaw Mohammed versus Jack Delam Adelina, which has now become an even bigger fight than it was before. And I can't wait. Look, big news, press conferences. I used on going to watch them. Thank goodness I was watching it yesterday to see.
Starting point is 00:19:50 to get that question. But again, he didn't get tricked. He knew you'd be willing to share that. He's much too, like, sharp to get tricked in that way. All right, guys, hey, thank you so much for tuning in. As always, thank you to Total Wireless and all of our sponsors for always holding a boy DC down. Until next time, like, subscribe, and tell you friends about my YouTube channel and tell them that I'm doing things like this and my DC check-ins. Hey, and get ready for that Post-fight reaction on Saturday night. Because guess what? I'm going to have a lot to talk about. There's going to be some clarity between two-way classes after the fights this weekend.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Crazy. Until next time. Peace. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick.
Starting point is 00:20:37 And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to our first people to do podcasts.
