Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith ruling.

I don't think there's a more important year for Black.

All right, guys, we just wrapped UFC 309,
and John Jones is still the UFC Heavyweight Champion,
defeat Steppe Miotich in the third round, spinning back kick to the ribs, puts Miotich down,
great performance by the champion.
So, John Jones came back after the injury as the heavyweight champion.
This fight was built as the greatest heavyweight of all time taking on,
what many considered the greatest fighter of all time from the very start of this fight.
It was very apparent that these two were not on the same level.
From round one, I mean, John Jones had a 10-8 round in round one.
Starts the fight with a beautiful kick to the middle.
Jabbs that Steppe Miochichich.
Takes him down with what was a sick takedown.
It was crazy, too, because it seemed as though he got lost in his thoughts
and he just went to that trip.
Mietchish goes down and it just brutal, brutal grounded pounded.
That early 10.
played such a massive part in the way that the fight played out because it took a lot out of steep
And then he looks slow chasing John down
You know when these guys when a guy like John Jones
Gets into the octagon you have to be prepared for so much because there's so much coming at you
So these guys will put people in training camp to try and replicate that
But then when you're in there with him
It's so different because the speed's different, the fight IQ is different.
The ability to set up all those weapons is much different than telling the person,
I need you doing this, this, this, and this.
And then you got a guy that can wrestle.
You got a guy that can do the push kick.
You got a kickboxer.
You got a Muay Thai guy.
You don't have a guy that can do all of that.
That is John Jones.
It looked like Steve Faye expected something, and he got something completely different.
Um, it was a wipeout. It really was a wipeout. And while I was surprised, I knew that this fight could go one or two ways. It could be very close. It could be very competitive or it could be one-sided. Tonight we got option to the one-sided fight where Miotis didn't get much accomplished. Even when he would attack, it felt like Jones saw it coming, would evade, escape, and then reset. And Miotius wasn't wood.
willing to continue to engage in a way that would allow for him to really get to Jones.
But it was vintage John Jones.
A lot of kicks.
Some knees when they got close.
And a good jab.
You know, there are some areas that you don't expect a guy to improve in as they age.
It seems like Jones now has a better jab.
And it seems like he's hitting harder at heavyweight.
He landed a right hand on the Oachies.
That almost staggered him.
I've never, you never felt that as a threat when you were in there with him before.
Meaning, if he hit you with a right hand, it never really hurt, right?
It was the kicks and the knees and everything else.
But this dude proved time and time again, man, how good he is.
And I truly believe a lot of it is due to the hard work, the fight IQ, and the toughness, the durability that he puts.
possesses inside the octagon.
It does not matter what I feel about John Jones in life.
I do respect him tremendously, immensely, as a fighter.
He does a lot of the right things when he's inside that octagon.
And that has led to him having more success than anyone that.
This guy has the fitness titles.
And over the course of three generations of the fighters, that was it for that generation.
Steve A. was it for that generation, meaning the Kane Velazquez and the Junior Dos Santos and Verdu,
and all those guys, me, that was it.
That was the end of that generation.
Then there was the generation prior,
the rampage and the show guns and the machetes.
He vanquished those guys too.
He has defended his belt over three generations.
So no matter what you feel about him,
it's very apparent that you have to respect him
and the skills that he possesses in the octagon.
And he is once again defended a belt and stays,
the UFC Heavyweight Champion.
Steppe Miotich, I'm glad he's retiring.
He was done.
He's done.
You know, he didn't look good.
He looked like a guy that hadn't fought for three years.
He looked slower than I have ever seen him look.
And being slow in the front of a guy like that
never works well for you.
You've got to press.
You've got to go forward.
You've got to take some chances.
And Miotruchin did not have that ability
to take the chances necessary
to really give him a shot.
I spit all over that camera.
John Jones said he's not going to retire now.
He said he's going to fight again.
Good, because we need to see him fight Tom Asper.
I talked to Big Tom after the fight as they were ushering him out.
You know, Annik asked me a question, and Joe Rogan,
what was Tom Aspin all thinking watching that?
I said nothing.
So then I asked Tom the same question.
What were you thinking, Tom, watching that?
Tom said nothing.
He goes because steep Anaston,
are completely different. No disrespect to Steve Bay. He said when he was slow. He said,
I'm not going to be slow. I'm not going to watch him. I'm going to go after him. If that's the
case, we're in for a very, very fun fight. Aspen off big, he's explosive and he's a young
interim champion. That seems to me the guy that can give John Jones problem. But we've thought many,
many times that guys would give Jones problems and none of them have been able to do that.
And the co-main of him, Michael Chandler, and Charles O'Levara had a fantastic fight.
Look, everybody's going to talk about the fifth round, which was the round of the year.
Because you had Michael Chandler hurt Charles O'Olavera, O'Overer recover, even though he got hit with so many rabbit punches.
I mean, every one of those punches from the top Mike hit him with was behind the head.
The fact that O'Ovara got up speaks to how tough and durable he is and his fighter spirit.
But Charles Olivero, oh, the guy that Ballfeld, they're beating all these other guys, would not have done that.
He would have backed it in.
And then we would have had a bit of a controversy, right?
Where the shots are legal, is it in no contest, all these things?
When Oliver fought a beautiful fight.
Beautiful.
He was vintage, but he was much more safe.
He did a good job of tracking down Chandler without taking as many risks as he did before.
are during his championship reign.
But the fight was still fun.
That moment where Chandler was getting up and jumping backwards
is something I'll never forget.
And I believe that Olivero once again has earned himself
a UFC championship opportunity.
He is showing time and time again.
He is truly one of the elite of the elite.
Striking look fantastic.
His grappling is as good as anybody the UFC's ever seen.
His cardio is amazing.
Now his toughness is there to match.
Chandler went back to the Connor McGregor thing.
Very smart. I said this before the fight. I thought Chandler had a better chance of getting the
McGregor fight if he lost. He lost that fight. He showed that you can hurt him, but he also showed
how tough and durable he is. Michael Chandler doesn't need a win all the time. He's past that
in terms of who he is as a fighter. As you guys see Miles again in the back, he's past that.
He once again won even though he lost. He'll get the McGregor fight and it's going to be massive
and I'm all four.
And Olivera will go back into a championship fight, and I'm all four.
It all worked after that co-main event.
Bo Nickel fought against Paul Craig, and people were yelling, overrated, overrated, overrated, all of these things.
And you know what?
It wasn't a bad performance.
I thought Bo did a good job.
He's inexperienced.
He's barely been fighting.
He stood for 15 minutes against Paul Craig.
Paul Kragans beat some of the best fighters in the UFC's history.
World champions.
Bo Nickle beat him and shut him out.
People are yelling and overrated, Bo Nican should not take that to heart.
He did a good job.
Maricio Rufi, dude's the real deal.
He still is.
I know it was a 29-28 victory, but that was only because James Yonis Hamtop,
which is the weirdest spelling of a name ever, was just so tough, durable,
and it's just really tough.
anybody else would have been put out but a shot that Mauritio Rufi hit him with.
Marcus McGee, great job, dude.
Dr. Martinez get going sooner.
Jim Miller, that's off the gym, another submission victory.
At like 42 or 43 years old, Jim Miller submits another person to get another victory.
David Onama, Marcheem Toora, Ramiz Brahimah, Ovan Elliott, and Edwardum Wara.
out of Moira, out of you, Sereney.
All got the job done.
Congratulations to each and every one of them.
New York City is a very special place to host fights.
And I felt like tonight we got one of the best performances
from one of the best fighters we've ever seen inside the Octagon.
The life belongs to John Jones, as many do whenever he competes,
as he beats St. P.miochich.
Now, let's go forward and see what happens next.
Hopefully, is John Jones versus Tom Aspinall.
Until next time, guys.
Like, subscribe, and tell you friends.
about my YouTube channel.
I appreciate the love and support.
I appreciate all that you guys give me.
Until next time, like, subscribe.
Did I say that already?
Did I did my outro twice?
I mean, the boy's losing his mind.
It's been a long day.
It's 1.30 in the morning, yeah.
I do this for you because I love it.
Make sure you hit those reminders.
Until next time, peace.
