Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:04:34 So we're wrapping up the sphere, the boy Miles, as always, breaking down the set. UFC 306 is officially in the books, and guys, it was, it was amazing as advertised. Look, look at the sphere right now. I mean, there were films, there were stories. God, that was such a great night of fights. You know, you wonder how these. things will play out. There's a lot of, there's a lot of pressure on the people that put these shows together to deliver, but the pressure is also in the fighters. The fighters have to recognize what's at stake when they get these opportunities. And tonight, they did absolutely that.
Starting point is 00:05:24 From the very first fight of tonight, Aririch Long and Rao Rousa Jr., all the way to Marabda Wailashwili versus Sugar Sean O'Malley. It was a tremendous night of fights. Let's start at the main event. You know, many thought that this fight could play out like this. Many knew that this was a very difficult matchup for the Sugar Show. You knew that if he couldn't land on Marab, Marab is that mauling type of fighter that really does wear you down. Justin Gaichi told me, he goes, he kabibed him.
Starting point is 00:06:04 He below Muhammad at him. He goes, that up and down shit is exhausting. And it's true because Kane Velasquez used to do it to me. It was Marab in classic Marab form. Going forward, moving around, you know, Dean Thomas had one of the best analogies I've heard. He goes, it's very difficult to track a butterfly in a windstorm. Because then it's just getting blown all over, up, down and around. That's Marab.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Marab's never. a stationary target for you. And he definitely wasn't a stationary target tonight for Sean O'Malley. You know, he was doing a really good job. You know, early in the night, we spoke about Arina Aldana following Norman Dumont. Marab never follows. He cut Sean off every time. And he would put him a little close to the octagon side.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And he cut him off a little more. And he would strategically work him towards the octagon. And he would level change. And he would take him down. And once he took him down, you could see him start to really kind of poke at the will of Sugar Sean O'Malley. And by the later rounds, he had almost rendered him pretty helpless. You know, I was getting text messages and tweets and people were just literally just saying how he was
Starting point is 00:07:30 almost mentally breaking. Sean, I don't know that I agree with that. I thought Sean O'Malley fought to the very end. never lost faith in the idea that he could win. That's why he was able to land that push kick up the middle that hurt Marab in round five. But I just think that Marab's game plan, his ability to not only implement the game plan,
Starting point is 00:07:53 but work it effectively is what it allowed him to become the world champion. You know, this dude Marab Duolish willie is so physical. And he has such a great understanding of positioning that it's hard. I've never seen Sean O'Malley just blown off of his feet that way before. I was very surprised at how effective he was at securing takedowns, but also the way he set him up because there was never a chance for O'Malley to defend. Before he could even start defending, Mara was throwing him off his feet. And but we've seen him do it to everybody. I don't know why we still get surprised when he did it to Henry Sehudo.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Who's Olympic champions? So I don't know why we get surprised. This dude's a deserving champion. He has waited a long time to get this opportunity. He fought all the best. I mean, his last two fights are Peoria and Henry Sehudo. I mean, he's not, he fought everyone because the general idea is he's not fun. So he fought everybody to get there.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Once it was no denying it, he got to. his opportunity and he cashed in. You know, I like Marabi. He's a great guy. He's got some big challenges ahead of him. But the only right matchup will be what causes him problems because he's got it. So hats off to Marab de Wallace Vili on becoming the world champ. Sean O'Malley, the roadback will be difficult. You know, it's hard to get yourself back to that level. once you've been there and you recognize the stardom that comes with becoming the champion.
Starting point is 00:09:42 You know, he never gave up on himself. He should be proud about that. But he was in there with a guy that really will be a matchup problem for him every time that they fight.
Starting point is 00:09:59 He's just got to get better with the wrestling, better at the fitting takedowns, and just he's got to just really react a little earlier. I think his reactions were a little slow. That's why Marab was able to knock him off of his feet. You know, but again, if you're a Sean O'Malley fan, you should be proud that your guy didn't give up on himself, and he really did give himself a chance in round five.
Starting point is 00:10:24 And if you're here, the coaches, you're proud of your athletes because you told him in round five, in round five that he needed to go and try to get him, to finish, and that's exactly what he tried to do. The Game Time app has been rocked with for a very long time, guys, and you know that the Game Time app is the worldwide leader in last-minute ticket purchases. So whether you're going to a concert, going to a show, you want to go to a sporting event, whether it's football, basketball, UFC, football season starting very, very soon.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Use the Game Time app to save money, and when you type of my promo code DCTV, you can get $20 off for your first purchase. Hey, Ben Astrid and I love doing a whole bunch of stuff. And when we do go places, I try, guys, I constantly used the game time app. I told you before. I bought Louisa ticket using
Starting point is 00:11:22 the Game Time app, and I'm getting Ben a ticket to the UFC Sphere event using the Game Time app. I don't know if I get the 20 off, but you can when you put that DC TV promo code in at the Game Time app. Guys, what time is it? It's Game Time.
Starting point is 00:11:39 baby, and game times is rocking with us for a real long time. You know, Alexa Grasso fought Valentino Sheffield for the third time. In fight one, Alexa Grasso was a underdog, eight to one, I believe. Eight to one, I believe. I'm trying to get these people to stop talking, guys. I'm so sorry. But tonight it felt like Valentino was just a much, I can't, it's hard to, much better fighter. I'll just call it what it is.
Starting point is 00:12:18 You know, the striking, she was better. The wrestling, she was better. And she used that wrestling to win her championship back. It was not the funnest fight. It felt like the Marab fight was a little more intriguing because of the danger that Sean O'Malley always seemed to possess. But Alexa just got dominated. She's going to have to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:12:44 She seemed to spend a lot of time trying to fight off of her back because she knew she would get taken down. But all that did was allow for time to run. And when time runs and you're on your back, you're losing. Sure. She had some good submission attempts. But that's not enough. I'm losing my boys, guys. It's been a long day.
Starting point is 00:13:07 If you got to do more. But hats off to the Queen Valentina Sheff Chico. It took her a long time to get back to where she is today. as the world champion. And for someone that's been there before, it really is a hard thing to do. Diego Lopez is the man. You know, when he got into the UFC,
Starting point is 00:13:28 he fought some really, really good guys at the very beginning. He lost to have L'Oyev in his UFC debut. And because of that, I think that's why he is who he is today. He heard Brian Ortega bad, multiple occasions, and he always tries to finish. This young man's a real problem. at 145 pounds. Daniel Zell Hubert and Esteban Rovich was the best fight I've ever seen in my life.
Starting point is 00:13:54 I don't know that I've seen a better fight. Guys, if you have not seen, guys, please, if you have not seen, if you have not seen this fight, please go back and watch it. Go back and watch that fight. It was that good. It was hard. It was skilled. it was the termination
Starting point is 00:14:16 you know my cousin was in the stands and he goes it's just cornage watching these two dudes fighting each other I think that by the end of the year
Starting point is 00:14:27 Daniel Zell Hubert and Esteban Rivavitch will still be talked about as one of the fights of the year hats off to Ronaldo Rodriguez on a big victory
Starting point is 00:14:40 over the Osborne Norman Dumont now enters into the top five of her division Manuel Torres, Ignacio Bahamundez was supposed to be a great fight. Bahamundas with a beautiful right hand that puts them out.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Kedlin Soza with a nice finish over Yasmin Hariga, Josh Van beating Antares, and Raoul Rasas Jr. Congratulations to all the victors tonight, but ultimately the night belongs to Marab de Wallis Fili. Congratulations, champ. You've earned it, you deserved it,
Starting point is 00:15:12 all the way from looking for a fight to the world champion, kids say that. Guys, as always, I'm going to go grab a couple coaches, try to get a few words in with them. But I'm going to drop some videos I took with my phone tonight from inside the sphere. Because even though you guys couldn't be here with me,
Starting point is 00:15:31 I want you to experience it as I did next to this octagon. It truly was an amazing experience. I love each and every one of you. I appreciate you to continue support. I appreciate you guys always holding me down. Tonight felt special And I'm glad that I got to be a part of it I hope you guys all watched it
