Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
Starting point is 00:01:10 This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen to learn the hard way on the AHA radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the ice planet, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two. Listen to stuff to blow your mind on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast. 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 is big to me. I'm Sam J.
Starting point is 00:02:12 And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:37 The volume. All right, guys, so I'm in Las Vegas for the Contenders Series. Tonight, a couple of our guys fight. Tonight, we have some great matchups on Contentist. The series has been crazy already this season. It continues this evening. But as I was sitting, thinking about the fights this evening, thinking about the spear coming up in a couple weeks,
Starting point is 00:03:15 I find myself kind of locked in on Sean O'Malley. That's hard not to do, considering he is the biggest star on the fight card. He is the card, the marquee name. So the card is built around Sean O'Malley. And Sean O'Malley is a different. character because on one hand, he can be insanely disrespectful. The other hand, he can be very gracious. And we've seen on multiple occasions, right?
Starting point is 00:03:47 So with the old Connor McGregor thing, Sean O'Malley was holding Connor McGregor on, like, up high for a long time doing kind of, I'm disrespect him. He was able, he disrespected Connor back, which is to be expected from a guy that is an alpha who is a champion, who feels like he should get respect in its warranty, right? He should feel that way. But then you look at the fight with Marab. He says he's going to knock Marab out very early in the fight. Is that disrespect or is that just him saying this to an opponent?
Starting point is 00:04:24 While it might feel like disrespect on the surface, maybe it's just his belief. But then he talks about Islamahadha, and he's very respectful and says he's the greatest fighter in the world right now. You know, this young man has managed to not only become a champion, he's managed to become a star. And part of it is because of his, I don't really care type of attitude. And I can't say what I really want to say, but it says, I don't really care attitude. And you see it on those fronts. But when you talk about him and Marab, right? When you talk about Sean O'Malley's going to knock him out very early,
Starting point is 00:05:11 when looking into the details of the fight, there can be some opportunities for that to happen. Because do you remember what Mara fought Marlon Maris? He was hurt very badly, very early. He was able to recover. Well, he was hurt very bad, very early. Sean O'Malley sees that and goes, there's no way that you survive what I hit you with if you allow me to hit you in that way or hurt you as Marlon Maris was able to hurt you.
Starting point is 00:05:48 But the way it comes off to the opponent probably would feel disrespectful. Marab Duolish Vio is probably sitting there pissed off because we see him. we see Marab and we see Marab in normal interactions and disrespect is not something he takes kindly to. We saw a guy disrespect him in a jiu jitsu competition in real life. And he walks in the stands and grabs the guy's hair. He grabs the guy's hair. He doesn't like that. He doesn't like that.
Starting point is 00:06:25 Now when O'Malley says things like that, I'm pretty sure he's stewing. but he also has to recognize that these are the games that guys that understand fighting, that guys that want to play the mind game with you, that guys that really are like Sean O'Malley, or like Connor McGregor, are like Nate Diaz, them being able to frustrate you is a win for them.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Because if you get frustrated and you start to make a mistake, especially with the way that you fight naturally, you may find yourself in some real issues. I don't know if maybe O'Malley's banking on that to happen because Mara Dwalis really gets pissed off because he feels disrespectful. All the while, on the other hand,
Starting point is 00:07:14 Sean O'Malley's being mad respectful of Islamahathe. Call him the best fight in the world. So Sean made a prediction for the fight. He said, I know I'm going to hurt him eventually. At one point, I'm going to hurt him. But then it could turn it to a brutal just knock up Just an absolute, not a good weight cut, not a good camp, and he just gets slept bad like that. Lee jingling type of fight.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Like just one of those. Five or six punches just to add up. And the last one just puts him to the camp and snoring, nose crooked, cat screaming. Like his intention is to try to really start rob. But we haven't seen Rob get done in that way. But is that his true belief, you know what I'm saying? I love the way that. he's approaches a fight the way he's playing the game, because I do believe that mental
Starting point is 00:08:04 has to be a part of this, especially on his behalf, because you've got to find a way to make Marab do something wrong. Because if Marab does everything right, we saw in the Peotra-Yon fight that he's a handful. He will continue to press you for as long as he has opportunities to press you. It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable the way that he is based and pressure the way he implements said to really wear down his opponents. Speaking of the sphere, right? Tickets? How about our friends at game time, right?
Starting point is 00:08:40 The GameTime app is the worldwide leader in last minute ticket purchases. So all you got to do now, download the GameTime app. Use my promo code, DCTV for $20 off of your very first purchase. Guys, what time is it? It's game time. And Game Time to rocking with us for a minute. Hey, so Sean.
Starting point is 00:09:29 O'Malley and Maraudelaide's is going to be phenomenal. And so is so many other things on the sphere fight card. Now, yesterday and I don't really like to do this because I feel like it, I shouldn't
Starting point is 00:09:45 have to do this. But yesterday Joaquin Buckley was speaking to Damon Martin about our interaction on social media, how he wishes to run into me one day. We're going to see each other at the in Salt Lake City.
Starting point is 00:10:00 It is what it is. And then we can talk like men. That's how I do it. That's how I do it. All these types of situations, whenever people start coming at me in this way. At the end of the day, I am who I am. I'm Daniel Cormier.
Starting point is 00:10:13 And I'm going to be who I'm going to be. Right. So it's a matter of how does the interaction start? Because online has been very disrespectful. Now it seems to be kind of peeling it back a little bit. And I believe that's the right. decision because like I said, it is what it is. I am who I am.
Starting point is 00:10:34 I'm going to be who I'm going to be. So let's try to, you know, keep it the right way, especially being that he has a fight that weekend. I'm not trying to do nothing to this man when he's on the verge of one of the biggest fights of his career. I don't get, though, that my job is not to uplift you. My job is to tell the truth. And I just did not agree with what you said in that.
Starting point is 00:10:59 call out. It was bad. It was really bad. Now, I can see how someone can be let down, but again, that is not my job. That's not my obligation. My job is to call it like it is. And I wasn't the only one that said many, many people were in agreement and said it just was not good. But that's okay. People make mistakes. We all have bad. Michelle and I discuss bad with just today. We all have bad. We all have. Unfortunately, yours was at the biggest moment of your career. again, I'll be in Salt Lake City. We haven't been able to see each other. I'll be there, right? Then we can have that conversation that you want to have,
Starting point is 00:11:37 Joaquin Buckman. I've been kind of ignoring this for a long time. But that's it. That's all the energy in the time that I'm given to that. I'm not going to do a 10-minute video responding to some guy that says something about me. So I give him a minute, and that goes on there. All right, guys, let me finish my preparation for the contendment series tonight. in the comments tell me, is Sean O'Malley being disrespectful to Morab Duol's feeling? Or do you believe that that is a true belief that he's going to knock out this machine that bad, that nasty, and he's going to do it very early in the fight?
Starting point is 00:12:14 Let me know down below in those comments. Until the next time, guys, like, subscribe, set your reminders, make sure you don't miss any of the videos we've given you. And always, I love you guys and thank you for the support. Until next time, peace. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
