Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule. of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What up, guys? So, it's been a minute since I did three rounds, so I'm going to give
Starting point is 00:01:44 you guys a little three rounds light. And then next week, when I get back to California, a little more consistency. We'll get back to the three rounds where we're busting through the rounds, busing through the fight. Each subject, five minutes like we were doing before. love doing that show. Love to support you guys were giving it to me, but we just been on the grind. I mean, in the last seven weeks,
Starting point is 00:02:08 we've worked six weekends. It's been a complete grind for me. But I appreciate you guys. The love and support, as always, has been tremendous. The news has been quick, though, this week. I was, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:26 it always happens quickly after pay-per-views, but this week, it seems like everything He's been going at like a lightning speed from all the Sehudo Sterling news that has been covered all week to us knowing that Charlottomalley's next to Nade Diaz and Jake Paul getting their first press conference and then Jamal Hill had some interesting things to say about John Jones in his retirement.
Starting point is 00:02:49 So first, let's start with this. UFC 290 just got released the main event and the co-main event. Main event is Alexander Yair Co-mate event is Brandon Marino Tremendous fight card But it wasn't the one that they won It
Starting point is 00:03:09 It will serve as the main event for international Fight weekend and it will be a tremendous fight And honestly, it is going to be a fight Headline by two international stars Yarra Rodriguez, Mexican Alexander Volcanowski, Australian So
Starting point is 00:03:26 it fits, right? It fits. But that's not the one they wanted. They wanted Jones-Sipe. Jones-S-Pey-was the target. Jones-S-Pey-Wes supposed to happen. And it seemed as though that was the one that we're going to get. But obviously, that's not happening now. I told you guys a couple weeks ago that anytime a big fight is about to happen, the issue usually arises when it comes to finances. You are talking about two of the greatest fighters are. all time, and I'm almost certain it came down to finances. Jones obviously just got a new contract, so you would imagine, Jones is pretty happy.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So that would lead me to believe that the issue is on the Miotich side. I just hate that Steepa keeps losing so much time. Because by the time he walks into that Octor, with Jones, targeted Madison Square Garden now, will be 41 years old. I'll tell you right now, when I walk into that octagon with him for the final time, At 41, there was slippage. I wasn't the same guy.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Even though I may have convinced myself that I was not the same guy. And he may be able to convince himself that he's very, very similar to the person from before. It'll be hard to compete at that level at 41 years old. Against the guy that's still rocking and rolling in Jones. So I hate that that time continues to be an issue for my man, Steve Amiochich. we get Volcanowski versus Rodriguez and we get Brandon Moreno versus Pantosia.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Tremendous fight. Two tremendous fights. International fight weekend. It's exactly what the fight card is supposed to be. It wasn't the one that we wanted. It wasn't the one we were supposed to get. We were supposed to get two of the greatest of all time
Starting point is 00:05:17 fighting against each other. And we're not going to see that now. That's unfortunate. Jamal Hill said, it sucks to me that Jones is going to retire because I would have liked to have had a chance against him. You know, the thing about Jamal Hill, I feel like after watching him fight Glover, there were a lot of doubters. But I think they're much fewer today because of the heart, the skill, how focused he was in the fight, but also how much Jamal Hill gave of himself inside that.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Octagon against Glover to Cher. It was a tremendous fight, and we saw Jamal Hill really come of age. We had seen Jamal lose before. But when you watched him in that fight, you question, like, how did he lose? You question how he would have those hiccups inside the octagon. It doesn't seem like he's going to do that anymore. Now, he's saying stuff like, you know what, man, I would have loved to have an opportunity to fight this dude, Jones. Because when you're going to be a lot, he's you're the best in the world or you aspire to be the best in the world, you want to be fighting the best there is. Right now, for a long time, that's been John Jones. He's been at the very top of the mixed martial arts world for a really, really long time. People recognize that.
Starting point is 00:06:45 That's why he more than anyone else gets called out. And the one thing about Jones, that's so smart, it's really, really smart. He doesn't respond. He doesn't respond to everybody. He responds to the people that have enough cachet to where when he does, people take note of it. Because if John Jones responds to everyone that calls his name, be stupid.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Because there are so many people that speak about John Jones. But I think Jamal Hill is on the wrong. right path, though, because at least he puts himself on the radar of Jones, being that Jones is up at heavyweight now, but at least he puts himself on the radar. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
Starting point is 00:08:19 And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
Starting point is 00:08:48 So, if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right what you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two. Listen to stuff to blow your mind on the
Starting point is 00:09:30 iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But again, when you're the best in the world, all you want to do is challenge yourself. To me, that seems like what Jamal Hill is trying to do. Before we get to Nate Diaz and Connor, And before we talk about Michael Bisbing's ass, I think Bisming actually might know some shit that we don't. We'll pay some bills. The video today is brought to you by the GameTime app. The GameTime app is the last minute ticket purchasing leader.
Starting point is 00:10:01 No matter what you're trying to do, guys, football, basketball, soccer, UFC, concerts, comedy shows. No matter what you're trying to do, go to the Game Time app to find those last minute tickets and purchase them at a very discounted rate. And if it's not discounted enough, how about we hook you up? Use the promo code DCTV and we'll give you $20 off of your first purchase. It does not matter where you are in the world.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Get out and do something fun and use the GameTime app to do that. Use the promo code DCTV and get $20 off of your very first purchase. Nate Diaz had his press conference with Jake Paul yesterday. Kind of trolled himself. He was like talking about how weak the press conference was and Jake's like, wait, dude, you're the promoter.
Starting point is 00:10:47 It's a difference, right? He's out on his own and he's going to do really well. But even in that, even on the eve of what is supposed to be the biggest fight of his career, Nate still had his eyes focus on the unfinished business that is Connor McGregor. So to me that tells me Nate's going to go back to the UFC because where else can him and Connor fight and complete their trilogy outside of the UFC? The UFC. The UFC is smart enough to know that you do not allow this fight to take place anywhere else.
Starting point is 00:11:21 He said him and Connor need to settle the score. It's one to one. You guys all remember what happened the first time. Nate Diaz and Connor on short notice submits one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. At the time, at least thought to me because of what Connor had done up to that point in what Nate Diaz was before that fight. because they was always a good fighter, but he had never really hit that stratosphere that he ended up hitting after he beat Conne McGregor and submitted him on that night in Las Vegas. They run it back. Connor wins a decision. Very close fight, but again, it showed Conn McGreg was able to rely on his heart to get the job done and beat Nate Diaz in the rematch. We always have wanted that third fight, but it seemed like it was further from happening.
Starting point is 00:12:12 than ever when Nate walked away. But it seems like to me now that his eyes are still here enough that if this Jake Paul thing goes sideways, Nate Diaz comes back and says, yeah, I've got some big fights left in the UFC. One of them being Connor McGregor, and that's one that I believe Connor McGregor would take. You know, we watch Conner's movements
Starting point is 00:12:37 as he was prepared for this comeback after the injury. There were all these people calling him out, you just said right away, hey, he would fight Michael Chandler, because Michael Chandler is a guy that's going to stand in front of him and try to stand and trade with Conner. We were right. Conner's fight Michael Chandler. But to me, the best news coming out of the Jake Paul Nate Diaz conference,
Starting point is 00:12:59 press conference was Nate Diaz has still got his eyes set on finishing his trilogy. And that's fun for anyone, anyone that loves the UFC, me being one of those guys. Last topic, Michael Bisming said John Jones saying that Francis would be something that he would consider staying around for and Mike kind of jumping on it saying maybe Jones, does Michael Bisming know something
Starting point is 00:13:31 we don't know? Because look, Michael Bisman has got some great relationship inside the UFC. I don't know what Francis is doing, but you saw I suppose the other day in front of the Mercedes just me fumbling the bag. Maybe Francis is. isn't hurting as much as we think. Maybe because Francis isn't just out there
Starting point is 00:13:47 boasting and pushing out, I'm doing this, this, this, this and this. Maybe the dude's not hurting. Maybe Francis got this shit all under control. And the way Bisbing was talking in the interview, I'm watching him is making me believe, wow, maybe he knows something. Maybe he know that the UFC is back talking of Francis.
Starting point is 00:14:11 Maybe he knows something. Come on Michael Bisbon. Let us know something because we want to see John Jones and Francis and Ghana. I know I do. I'm all in on that fight because I think that fight would blow the roof off of any arena that they put these two into. And I believe that's the one that will get Jones excited. It'll challenge him mentally. It'll challenge him physically but also mentally for his preparation to be ready and more ready than ever because he understands the challenges ahead of him in front of Francis and Ghana.
Starting point is 00:14:42 What you bought Michael Bisbing know? Where he's at? Where he been? Because I ain't seen Bisming for a little bit. Where Bisbing been? Has been, has Mike been taking trips to Vegas, having little private conversations?
Starting point is 00:14:58 What do you know? Michael Bismidt. Shoot me, man. Text me. Shoot me a message. Let me know what you know so I can feel good about what's going on
Starting point is 00:15:06 in case we get to see the fight that we want to see. UFC 290 is set to be a fight card that we are going to love. He didn't get the main event we wanted But Alexander Konovsky is an absolute savage I'm tuning in every time he fights
Starting point is 00:15:22 Jamal Hill wants a shot at the man Jamal Hill's got some business With Yerah Pohasca if he's back But I do believe that the fights this weekend Could say a lot in terms of what Jamal Hill may see next If Yuri isn't back Because if Anthony Smith looks good
Starting point is 00:15:38 They were already scheduled For Jamal won the belt Maybe it's Anthony Smith against Jamal Hill we'll see and if stepe jones fighting in madison square is what I'm hearing hopefully Michael Bisby giving you a phone call
Starting point is 00:15:53 and lets me know just what's going on with Francis and Ghana because I want to know what the big man's been up to maybe I'll shoot him a text message after this all right guys this is my wrap up next week I'm back with three rounds until next time though thank you for all the love and support
