The Herd with Colin Cowherd - Daniel Cormier TV - DC REACTS to Ilia Topuria predicting Justin Gaethje fight, SHUTTING DOWN Arman Tsarukyan

Episode Date: July 24, 2025

Daniel Cormier IS BACK to react to the biggest headlines in UFC and MMA, and this week Ilia Topuria, Justin Gaethje, Arman Tsarukyan, and the lightweight division have taken over! Topuria told the Nel...k Boys in his interview with them this week that he thinks the UFC will push for Gaetjhe to fight Ilia. DC gives take on the soundbite, and why he believes JG is still not a guarantee with Tsarukyan and Paddy Pimblett also going for that title shot. Plus, hear Cormier break down the lightweight division, and what he thinks the championship fight vs. Topuria will ultimately be. And don't miss DC give his thoughts on Justin's perfect end to his career: a win vs. Ilia and defending the belt at the White House vs. Max Holloway for the BMF championship. #VolumeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey, Jonas, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smygel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody can. gets to hear. Listen to SportsSlic on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicalif 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on, a Mormon polygamist
Starting point is 00:01:46 and an Armenian businessman. Multimillion dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud. But how long can this alliance last? Tell me, what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:09 The volume. All right, guys, hey, it's the boy DC, your favorite podcaster and also a role partner. And of course, fellas, when you're in or you're out of the bedroom
Starting point is 00:02:23 with your partner or that significant other, you have got to satisfy their needs as you try to satisfy your needs. It's so important. Hey, the one thing about Roe, when you're in the bedroom, our guys at Rose Sparks,
Starting point is 00:02:37 they got your back. With his long-lasting functionality, Roe Sparks are a two-and-one prescription treatment for guys who want more controlled erections. And it doesn't take long either, because after they dissolve, they work in about 15 minutes on average. It's because the pills dissolve under the tongue
Starting point is 00:02:55 and go directly into the bloodstream. Roe connects guys with medical providers, 100% online. So you don't have to waste time in the waiting room. And if approved, treatment ships directly to your door. For me, honestly, it's a no-brainer. Roe is a must-have, guys. Trust me, new sex health patients get $15 off
Starting point is 00:03:17 of their first order of Roe Sparks on the recurring plan. So connect with a provider at R-O-D-T-C-O-D-C-O-D-C-T-V-T-V. row.co slash DC TV to find out if prescription row sparks is right for you. Guys, that's RO, DOTCO slash DC TV for $15 off of your first order. Hey, get them row sparks. I'm telling you, they work. What's up, guys? It's Wednesday, July 23rd, and welcome to a brand new episode on DCTV,
Starting point is 00:04:00 presented by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down. So what's seeming like it's about to slow down is the lightweight division. I don't know that we've ever had a time in fighting where it seems like more people in the same weight class are unwilling to do what most think is next or are willing to literally take. take a hard stance and go, I'm not doing it. That happened. And it worked out with Islamakachev when he didn't really want to fight Ilya. And if he went to 170, he would vacate the belt. If below loss, it all worked out. But how does it all work out at 155 now? But we have this, this foursome of people who are all vying for the same thing, who all have a claim
Starting point is 00:05:00 to want that same thing, but only one guy has it, and that's Ilya Tepore. He's the champ. But Justin Gachi feels he has a claim. Armand Sarukin feels he has a claim, and rightfully so. Patty Pimbley now feels he has a claim. They all feel like they have a claim to be the number one contender at 155 pounds.
Starting point is 00:05:21 But what happens when we get to a standstill where, like Armand said to me, that was a Joe Rogan mistake. Patty Pimblech should have never been in the Octagon. He's not the number one contender. That seems okay for Armand to say because Armand was the guy that was scheduled to fight for the belt in Los Angeles. But what about the fact that after that fight didn't happen?
Starting point is 00:05:43 The UFC said Armand's not next. He will need to fight. That seems to have eliminated him. But when you look at the people that know this sport or the fans and the perspective or the perception is, he's number of contender, he should be fighting for the title next. Not Patty, a guy who's ranked number nine. in the UFC's rankings
Starting point is 00:06:01 and just got his win inside the top five. Justin Gachie, who's three and one in his last four fight, says, I have a claim. But he's getting presented with the fight Patty Pimbley. So Gage is like, no, I'm not doing it. That leads to this, right? Gachi feels he has a claim.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Armand was a number contender. Patty just went knocked down with the guy. So he's like, hey, I got the face off against the champ. So maybe I'm number one contender. Let's see what happens. But what do you do whenever guys are not only telling you they don't want to do something, but they seem willing to really either sit it out or be done.
Starting point is 00:06:41 To Justin Gage's point is what he said. He goes, I'm absolutely not fighting Patty. And if that's the route that they want me to take, and I don't believe that they need me anymore. I know that sounds petty or whatever. But number three, three and one in my last four, the champion Islam was calling to fight me when he's, he vacated. They bring in a new guy
Starting point is 00:07:02 and give, they bring a new guy in and give a guy who's two and two in the fight. If their algorithm and their match tells them to just use me until I get beat, then I'm going to have to really reevaluate what I'm doing. So,
Starting point is 00:07:18 it sounds to me like Justin Geichie, as he said before, hey, title fight or retirement. It sounds like he's more than willing now to stand by that and be done. And that would suck. right because MMA's better when Justin Gagy's fighting. We just have to watch Dustin Poyer retired last weekend
Starting point is 00:07:36 and that absolutely suck. So what's going to happen this time, right? We have to walk away from Justin Gachey too. That era of fighters that we all fell in love with so much are starting to take the curtain call and go, hey, my time is done. This game is done with me or I'm done with this game. Justin seems very, very stern in the idea
Starting point is 00:07:57 that if he has to fight Patty Pimlin and that's the only option, he's not going to do it. And that sucks because I don't know, I don't know that it's going to make the UFC say we have to give Justin Gatesha a title fight. I don't know that they're going to do that, especially when you go through all the things that I'm telling you right now, that Armand has a case, Patty has a case,
Starting point is 00:08:29 Justin has a case. Ilya saying he ain't fighting Armand. So now you got the champ saying, forget Armand, he's not reliable because of what happened in Los Angeles in the fight when he was supposed to fight Islamakacha. Then you have Patty, who got to go into the octagon and stare off with the champion.
Starting point is 00:08:50 You have Justin saying, I'm not fighting Patty. When in reality, Patty Pimilar Justin Gachey seems like the logical next step for Patty. for Patty. Because after you get to a Michael Chandler, right, you want to go into that next level of guy as you get closer to the title fight. Does Patty Pimlet deserve a title fight right now?
Starting point is 00:09:11 No, he doesn't. But with one more victory, especially one over a guy like Justin Gachie, he would absolutely deserve a title fight. But I think he's one fight away. But he also needs that name. He needs a Justin Gachie. He needs a Charles O'Levara.
Starting point is 00:09:28 he needs one more guy behind Michael Chandler to truly make the case for him earning a championship opportunity. So to me, that leaves Justin and Armand. Armand is number one contender. Supposed to fight Islam. After that fight didn't happen. The UFC said he was going to have to fight somebody else.
Starting point is 00:09:48 He didn't. He has not fought. He weighed in as the backup fighter when Olivera fought against Ilya to pour you. But Ilya is saying, fuck Armin, he's not fighting him. He believes the UFC will push for Justin. I don't necessarily know where he's getting that from.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Maybe he knows that Justin's valuable and the company doesn't want to lose him and they might if he doesn't get that title fight. But for Gaichi, he would love it. Ilya believes, though, that that's the guy he may end up fighting. But Justin said in the perfect world, in the best chapter in my book, if it happens, I'll believe this is a simulation.
Starting point is 00:10:31 But I would want to beat DePoyer this year, defended against Holloway and the White House, then retire with the BMF title and the championship belt. There's no better way for me to write it. But I am a little bias. You know, it's the summer. And as you know, summer means baseball. So once again, I'm parted up with our good friends

Starting point is 00:12:10 What's the news, new? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
Starting point is 00:12:23 But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was...
Starting point is 00:12:42 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:12:57 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:13:25 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience
Starting point is 00:13:46 in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fantine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it and we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:14:19 And that's two different levels. of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Keir Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode we're cutting through
Starting point is 00:14:50 the noise. Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaders to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsSlic on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more, follow Timbo Slicelife 12 and the TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Justin wants to, obviously everybody has big goals, right? Like everybody has the biggest of goals. And that would be a fairy tale for Justin Gachie. For Justin Gachie to extend themselves to next summer would be amazing because we said an American guy who's as red, white, and blue as anyone out to the White House. to defend the championship. I get it. But I still don't know, guys,
Starting point is 00:15:55 and I need your help with this in the comments. I still don't really know what do we do if it doesn't happen, though? What happens and who does Ilya fight if Justin doesn't get the title fight, which is what he expects? I believe all things considered, merit warranted.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I think it's probably should be Armand Syruquian. I mean, he was number one contender Luis. You can chime in in the chat if you want. You're my first comment. I think Armand Srucchian probably should be the guy that gets the title fight. I just don't know if the champion is willing to fight him right now. And at times, that can become an issue, especially if what Ilya said is true, where do UFC told him, hey, please don't try to go up right now if you become the champion?
Starting point is 00:16:47 because you're doing us a favor by stabilizing at 155. So what if Ilya goes, do me a favor? I don't want to fight this guy right now. He's unreliable. Let me see him fight again. It's more likely, and Luis kind of agrees, that because Ilya and Justin want to fight each other, Justin's a big name,
Starting point is 00:17:07 and he does have three and one in his last four, it's potential. It's a mess at 155 right now. It really is an absolute. mess at 155. Guys, I'm in the rental wrestling camp right now, so my voice is acting up. I'm sick. It's a whole, hey, I'm in the grind.
Starting point is 00:17:25 I'm in the grind, but I promise you, we'll get you guys another episode of three rounds tomorrow. Dean and I will go back and forth on something. Let's hope we can entertain you as you have been entertained so far. Thank you guys for tapping into what Dean and I are doing. In those comments, somebody helped me out. Match up 155 for me. Let's figure this thing out.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Until next time, guys. Peace. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:17:56 We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
