Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. She can win.
Starting point is 00:01:21 She's an outsider to win the French fame. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any service. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The volume. All right, guys, UFC 318 just wrapped.
Starting point is 00:02:25 It's time for my post-fight reaction video brought to you by Total Wireless. They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that will not slow you down. Guys, what a fantastic night from New Orleans. A fantastic week from New Orleans. As you see Miles, the chair guy, getting everything done. Today, I can't believe you. I'll call him the chair guy. He's so much more than that.
Starting point is 00:02:51 The worst part of him, though, is he's a Liverpool fan. But it is what it is. Guys, tonight was special. Dustin Poyier got what was one of the greatest retirements I've ever seen. I don't know if I've seen many retirements in sport. That was better than with Dustin Poyer got. got to experience tonight. But ultimately, the night was about Max Holloway. Max Holloway fought an unbelievable fight. I mean, he truly did paint a masterpiece. He was out there moving.
Starting point is 00:03:24 He was out there on the center line. He was off there landing. And he really did show that there's a lot of tread on the tire and a lot of opportunity for Max to be in contention at 155 pounds. His combination punching was as good as we have seen for Max Holloway forever. His power was on display again. He heard Dustin Fourier twice early in the fight. The one knock on Max Holloway before was that it took so much for him to break his opponents down, even in the greatest performances of his career, watching him beat Jose Alibald to become the champion,
Starting point is 00:04:05 watching what he did against Brian Ortega, and so many other guys. It took so much. It doesn't feel like it takes that much anymore for him to break an opponent down. He heard Dustin Poetheer early in the fight twice. In the first round, it looked like he had him hurt very bad. In the second round, he had him hurt very bad.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Dustin, it fights his way back into the fight, as you would expect. It hurts Max Holloway late in round one. But Max, once again, when he got back up, got right back to doing exactly what he needed to do. Moving, bobbing, weaving, took his structure from his coach, him not to stay backwards, go straight, going backwards, but to move off the angle. He did that.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And that allowed for him to get a victory in what was a very competitive fight. You know, Max Holloway is still very viable in this weight class. And I believe that he's dangerous to a lot of guys at 155 pounds. But the activity was the same. The cardio, the pace, the movement. It was vintage Max Holloway. So congrats to Max. On being the first. first person ever to defend the BMF title. God, that title is so cool, man. And how about a little way walking out Dustin Boree? It was amazing. On to D.P. D.P. got the fairy tale ending that so many fighters dream of. Paul said something today. I kind of disagreed to him. He goes, I know it wasn't perfect because he didn't win. But I actually think that poetic justice, you get
Starting point is 00:05:37 everything great, but you don't get everything, makes it perfect. Because while he didn't win the belt or didn't win the fight, it just is classic, right? Mike Tyson lost to Lennox Lewis, and it propelled Lewis forward. Roy Jones, St. Antonio Tarver. All the greats at times, when it's your time to go, you don't get to go out. Uh, what a victory. That's what makes what Habib did and what St. Pierre did. And what Andre Ward did so special because nobody gets to go out with the title when they walk away. You elevate the next guy and that's what Dustin Poirier did tonight. But he got the retirement man.
Starting point is 00:06:20 His whole family got to come into the cage afterwards. He got the video package that honors him for all that he's become. He was very emotional and so was I because I watched the kid really will himself into something special. We do with a lot of shit in Lafayette. There's a lot of doubt that comes with being from there because you doubt what you can become. Dustin wasn't willing to accept that he was going to be anything but great. Now, him and his wife and his children,
Starting point is 00:06:51 they live a very comfortable life at home in the place that he loves. And he asked me the other day in our check-in, I asked him, I said, how are you coming to terms with knowing it's over? He goes, I haven't yet. And I try to assure him that it's not bad at all. It's really nice when you can accept that this part of your life is over because there is so much more out there for you. And I know there's a lot out there for Dustin Porier as he starts this next phase of his life. But man, it was amazing.
Starting point is 00:07:22 New Orleans was amazing. The fans showed up, showed out, and boy, Dustin Porier went out with a hero's welcome. Romo Coppulov really had not much from Paul O'Costa. Paul O'Costa looked like the guy from before. He might have slowed down a bit at the end, but he fought a beautiful fight. He followed the game plan. He did everything he was supposed to do, and he got the job done. This guy, he looks like once again he could fight the best of the world, and that's all he's been doing.
Starting point is 00:07:54 So while he's lost fights, he still was fighting only the best. And tonight he showed that just because you're very good, like Roman Coppola, that doesn't mean that you get past. uh paulo costa um danio rodriga and kevin holland had a classic fight man it looked like kevin holland was done on so many occasions but derad was not able to put him away and holland fought back wonderfully showed the heart and spirit that he has come to be known for but at the end d rod was able to take him down in the third and really save himself from a 10-8 round holland was dominating that round. But because he got him out, because he was able to get some damage off, he might have saved himself and that ultimately got him a victory. But that was my fighter tonight. Patricio Pitcoe Bull beat Dan
Starting point is 00:08:48 Igay. Finally got his first UFC win. He heard him, and now I see why Pitbull had so much success knocking people out, because it does not take much for that man to really put damage on his opponent. Michael Johnson, almost 40, beat Daniel Zell Hoover. Daniel Zell Hoover talked trash about him all week. Daniel Zell Hoover told anyone that would listen how old Michael Johnson was. Mike said, I've been humbled so many times by this sport. This will be a humbling experience for this young man. That's exactly what it was.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Benicia's Olivera. Log dog, he's absolutely a dog. He got the job done. Britain Allen and Marvin Vittori, they fought. They said they were going to fight. That's what they did. They put on a great fight. Veritnikov got a victory, but this dude kept spinning.
Starting point is 00:09:41 He had me so annoyed with all the spitting attacks that I was mad at him. Atiba, Gaultier, once again, knocked somebody out so fast, and is proven to be a fast-rising star in the UFC. It's Lamdula Kov, another guy that has a modeling gig on the, Monday went out there and knocked out his opponent and showed patience, showed patience that we didn't see when he was on the contender series. Jimmy Crut broke Marchine Prachneal's arm to get a submission. Ryan Span, guillotine choke to get Nucas Breske out of there. Bruno Paheda with a TKO over Jackson McVe. Or sorry, a submission over Jackson McVeigh and Carly
Starting point is 00:10:27 Judice put on a beautiful performance to get the Louisiana crowd going right away. It was a beautiful fight night from New Orleans, Louisiana, and I could not be happier to be a part of it. But now it's time to my total wireless performance of the night, and I'm going to give that to, too, it's hard not to give it to Max Holloway, but I can't be the guy that just keeps giving the bonus, the total wireless performance of the night to the main event. So I'm going to go with Atiba Goltier Because everybody believes that he has to knock you out to win
Starting point is 00:11:00 That's exactly what he keeps doing This young man looks like he's going to take a special performance To beat him So my total wireless performance of the night Goes to Atiba Gaultier Who moves to 2 and O in the UFC With two knockouts in under five minutes This guy is amazing
Starting point is 00:11:19 All right my total wireless performance of the night Also goes to Max Holloway I'm doubling up man, because why not? It's my show. I make the rules here. Again, thank you to Total Wireless for looking out for me, taking care of me and the channel, and thank you guys for always tapping in. From New Orleans, guys, it's been the flight when we come my life. I've had the time of my life. I appreciate all the support. I love and appreciate you. And I will never, ever take this for granted. Take the love that you guys constantly show me for granted. Until next time,
Starting point is 00:11:50 like, subscribe, and tell you friends that D.C. is doing stuff like this. from the octagon until next time peace stick around i'm gonna talk to a coach as i always do coach how about your boy man i tell you man he delivered he delivered right yeah you told him after that second round stop backing straight up that was the same thing you guys told him in fight number two when he was getting hurt and he's going straight back yeah he listened uh did you just have to remind do yeah um this this uh this uh this fight had to talk a lot more than uh than uh usual um but he's seem to be reminded um not to go straight back or whatnot i think the thing is too is like he heard him early and um after that i think he's trying to line up like one good shot man you know
Starting point is 00:12:35 uh he hurt him a bunch i just want him to be patient just be patient opportunities will come or whatnot you know just keep breaking that man down man that's a beast is max holloway fall in love with his new power this dude's fall in love with his power somebody got to get this Get him under control, man. Maybe a little bit, maybe a little bit. He's called the love of power. Maybe a little bit. Hey, coach, congratulations, man.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Does it never surprise you anymore watching this man do the special things that he does? It does. It still does, man. It's just, it's incredible. I just, you know, just so you think you've seen it all from him and whatnot, and he just has something else that he gives you and just puts you, takes another 10 years off my life and all of our lives, and all of our lives are stressed and whatnot.
Starting point is 00:13:15 But, yeah, man, he keeps this journey exciting for us. He's an amazing athlete. You guys have created a fighting machine. Congratulations, coach. Thank you. Good job. Appreciate you, boss. Hey, guys, it's us.
