This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

The volume.
What's up?
Hey, so, hey, is your name Benjamin?
Yeah.
Are you serious?
Well, of course. What else would be so?
I'm just saying, any, I didn't know everybody that you call Ben is named Benjamin.
I think pretty much. You know what I did for my kids, though?
What?
I, this is me being my OCD or whatever.
I hated that I was in writing by Benjamin,
despite the fact that I never called myself Benjamin ever, right?
Yeah.
So my kids' names are only what they are.
So it's three or four letters.
So Ozzy and Andy Alex, there's no Alexandria or Alexandria.
Really?
Alex.
You got an old-ass name too, Benjamin.
I mean, look, when you wanted the 19, fucking 100, like 1900?
You 100?
Bro, I said 1998 at the camp yesterday, and these kids looked to me like,
oh, my God.
Do you believe that?
98. It's like a world away for people like that.
Bro, like I was born in 1979.
So like, I still play video games, right?
I play video. Let me tell you.
I'm never retiring from video games.
Until I die, I play video games.
I retire from fighting.
I retire from TV.
And I'll still be playing that fucking video games.
Anyhow.
When I'm creating my character, it doesn't even go back to the day that I was actually born.
What?
It don't go that far back.
Why not?
Because you can't join the NBA at fucking 40.
Oh, oh, oh, I got it makes sense.
It just doesn't work.
It just doesn't work.
But first off, yo, did you get a chance to see any of the clips with me in Islam a hot chip last week?
I did not.
Oh, my God, Ben, please, you got to see Islam talking about the BMF title.
So I, okay, I read some of the quotes and stuff.
And, man, it's pretty funny.
But you know who else?
I mean, I don't know.
There's just something about the way they speak.
There's this one clip I saw of your buddy, Kabib.
Yes.
Where he says the guy should get a dog?
No, no, I didn't see it.
Oh, my God.
I don't know where it came up in my Twitter feed.
And this guy said, George Moswell hooked up with my girlfriend.
Can I start training to go beat him up?
And Kabin was like, no, no.
Maybe get dog.
Maybe get dog.
Because he's going to kick his ass.
So he told him he's got to get a dog so it's fair.
He said, get a Bip ball.
It'll be fair then.
It was like the funniest clip ever.
Bro, it's so matter of fact.
Anyways, bro, this two went off on the BMF championship, bro.
I called the fight, the title for bums.
It was nuts.
Do yourself in favor and watch it.
I got a clip on my internet.

Now, Ben, Henry Sehudo is going to fight in Boston in August.
Against Marlon Chito Vera.
Here's the thing that is weird to me.
He was asking for another title fight
because he thought maybe Al Jemaine Sterling,
who Dana bought a Lamborghini for,
was not going to fight against Sean O'Malley.
Well, they're fighting.
So he said, what matters to him is it's 15 years.
to the day that he won the Olympic gold medal.
Oh, my God.
We're old.
Damn.
We're old.
Oh, my God.
But you know what's unfortunate about that?
It's like, when he says that to me, it means something.
But nobody else cares.
Well, no, but I love it.
We do, right?
It resonates with us, I guess.
He's making it a point that I'm fighting in August,
but it just does not seem like the world is like as,
oh, my goodness, the Olympic champ comes.
back on the day that he won the Olympic gold medal because if he's not fighting for a title,
it doesn't seem like it matters as much as that accomplishment 15 years ago.
Yeah.
Okay.
So on the flip side of what he's talked about, McGregor, I love this for Henry because if I
said, if Henry's going to come back, he needs to get after it.
And guess what?
He's getting after it, right?
He just fought very recently.
He's going to fight again.
And, you know, in that layoff period, because he had a layoff period, retired.
Long, yeah.
Yeah, then you need to get after it.
You need to get in training.
You need to stay in training.
You need to get some reps out there.
And that's exactly what he's doing.
And Marlon Verr is the top of the division guy.
I don't know exactly what he's ranked, but it's probably pretty high.
The top five, six.
Yeah, he's in the top five.
He's just got beat by Corey Sanhagen, so might have bumped him down a little bit, but not much.
He's at, yeah, he's at six.
So, I mean, obviously, I would have preferred him fighting against Marab, but I think
Marab had an injury, so he's out.
Yeah.
Yeah, so no, I love Henry getting back and getting after.
I think that's what he needs to do.
And I think Henry, you know, like on the flip side of McGregor,
McGregor's not sure if there's training.
Henry's doing this.
He wants to get a train room.
He wants to stay in the train room.
He wants to stay active.
And if he's going to compete at the highest level,
that's what he needs to do.
If he's going to do it, he's got to be all in.
And he also still has that motivation.
Because for Henry So Hedreysahuto, the legacy matters.
So for Henry Sohudo, he's going to be in there every day
trying to improve to work his way back to a championship opportunity,
which it sounds like today.
day is not going to be against Al Jermaine Sterling because he said this will be his last
fight at 135 pounds.
When lose a draw, he's up to 145.
Isn't this perfect though, Daniel, then?
Because, you know, so if Aljo wins, he goes up.
If Henry wins, then it's so easy, Henry versus Marab.
That's simple, right?
But is it that simple when Corey Sanhagen looks so good in his last couple of fights?
I think it is.
I think it's Maraub versus Henry.
and then if Sean wins, you know, I think Sean versus Henry's kind of easy too.
It's Sean versus Henry.
I mean, Henry is putting himself in a really good, really good position to try to be in,
have an opportunity to become a champion again.
But what the fight with Aljo taught me was that Henry Suhudo should not be talking about
Alexander Volcanowski.
I mean, Alexander, I mean, no, it's too small, right?
because Al Jules Lentth caused him some issues,
and Wokanovsky is an absolute monster,
and probably the best fighter in the world, pound for pound.
Ben, last thing, before I let you go.
Okay.
One more thing that Islam said to me in the interview was
he doesn't believe that he should not be the number one
pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Because, you know, there's been a whole bunch of issues
since him and Volk fought.
It was a very competitive fight, very close fight.
and Islam won
and it was the fight to be
crowned number one pound for pound
because it was so close
Volcanovsky stayed one
but then when John Jones came back
he jumped them both
and John Jones to one
Islam's argument was
John Jones beat a guy that has no wrestling
the guy doesn't know what he's doing
he goes it doesn't matter how fast he beat him
he should not be the number one
pound-pon fighter in the world
is there any
is this point valid in the sense
that he has
fought the guy that was number one
and he feels he should be number one
or does John Jones, who was number
one for years, just go
back to where he was when he
returns and wins the heavyweight championship in the
way that he did, especially
Ben, with pound for pound means
that your fighting style translates
across weight classes
which John Jones showed
he's the heavyweight champ now and he was the
light heavyweight champion, two weight classes.
Imagine an Olympic
where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,

Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,

Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because I'm not just because I'm.
crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. Yeah. I think it's a really tough one. You know, I think Popper Pound is tough because people
will interpret it in different ways. And, you know, some people will count the PD failures on John
against him, which I should. I have a hard time arguing with that. You know, when you look at
Jan's resume, it's like, well, that resume can go with anyone. Now, I don't like the fact
that they jumped him up by being Cyril Gong. Because I don't, Cyril Gan, probably.
probably wouldn't have been top 10 for pound for pound.
He probably would have been 15, 20, somewhere in that range.
Yeah.
And, you know, the other argument against John, if you're looking at a current pound for pound,
not a goat like all time, but just current, who the best is currently,
is that prior to his, you know, I don't know what I call retirement, break, whatever you'll call it,
he did have two really competitive bouts, one with Tiago Santos, where he won by split decision.
Yep.
And then one with Dominic Reyes, where he won kind of convincingly,
but it was, it was a decision.
It wasn't super dominant.
He had a decision against Anthony Smith.
And so, you know, I think Volcanozky were right there,
especially when you look at those three guys and then what they did after,
I think you could say Volkanowski has a higher level competition.
I think he went all those matches with Holloway, right?
And then actually opened the gap over the course of the competitions.
Then I lied.
I have to ask you one last one last.
Uh-oh.
It just split my mind.
So, bro, last week I'm on DC and RC
and they posed a question to me
about Jim Miller in the Hall of Fame.
Oh, I saw you got in trouble.
Right. I just said that I don't think
because I don't know.
For us, the Hall of Fame is something very special.
I retired in 0.8.
I'm not in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
You're not in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
You got all those NCAA titles.
You're on the Olympic team
because you have to,
such a resume to get into the national wrestling
the Hall of Fame, right? It's that
prestigious and honor.
And so is football.
Dionne Sanders went so far as to
say in football. If you're going to give guys
that weren't what we were
and spot in the Hall of Fame, they have to wear a
different jacket. They don't get the gold jacket. They get
like a different jacket.
I feel like there's a place in the Hall of Fame for Jim
Miller, maybe one of his fights or something.
but I didn't think that him as a modern era member was really his career is warranted.
But he is the all-time wins leader.
He's on the highest, finish, like all kind of record lists.
But those records can be broken.
What do you think about Jim Miller in the Hall of Fame?
Yeah, I knew some people would be upset about your comment.
I did see that.
You know, the one I came back to you, and I haven't been able to find this online any.
anywhere was like what is the highest he was ever ranked?
He never fought for a title.
No, never fought for a title.
Maybe like 10.
You think he,
so I was thinking he was higher,
higher than 10 was what I was thinking.
Seven, 10.
Never in the top five.
Okay, so never in the top five for sure.
So that's one where I'm like,
yeah,
he's not in the top five.
It's really hard to argue.
I mean,
the longevity is,
is obviously impressive.
Tip of the cap.
Yep, absolutely.
The cap finishes,
impressive.
But no,
I was thinking, you know, what does?
Someone else brought Damien Maya, who's a submission leader.
But Damien Maya fought for a hell three times, right?
So it's like, do you have to be a UFC champion?
No.
I know a couple.
I know a couple of people that I don't think get into the Hall of Fame.
I know a couple UFC champions that I don't think go into the Hall of Fame.
Yeah.
So it's like, okay, well, how about UFC title?
Like, so if you fight for it, but you don't win it, can you be in the Hall of Fame?
And, you know, I think maybe as more and more people get inducted,
that'll be the case because obviously you're going to have new inductees every single year.
You're going to have two or three or four or whatever they choose.
Yeah, so I think Jim Miller, if he does get in, it's like a long ways off.
Like it gets way down the road and, you know, maybe they've inducted it all of U.C. champions
or a lot of the guys who fought with him had great longevity and then he gets in.
But as of now, I agree with you.
I know it's going to make people mad and I agree with it, though.
It sucks, though, because I feel like maybe he does down the line, but it's like me, right?
like I'm not the National Rostal Hall of Fame
because the classes are too strong, right?
Everybody that's going in ahead of me,
they deserve it more.
Joe Williams deserves it more.
Trisha Sondas deserves it more.
Stephanie deserves it more.
They all deserve it more.
When you get an opportunity,
with your three or two NCAA titles.
I, two titles in the Olympic team.
You guys all deserve it more.
So it's like I'm going to be an old guy
going into the Hall of Fame at some point.
but it's like people have to understand that the Hall of Fame means something man
and it does the career should matter in regards to specific criteria I actually like
I don't know how the UFC actually does it I'm then published it data does but so baseball I believe
oh man baseball I believe don't they put like here's our top 10 out and people vote on it you know
it's really kind of but it's the media members media members yeah yes but it's cool to see I don't
even know if wrestling does that but I mean
your point, strictly on credentials, even my wrestling credentials. I never won a world medal.
I didn't compete that long. I competed in one Olympic game and then I went to fighting.
But I think where I would get in would be two Hodg trophies and then maybe my contribution
through the advancement of the technical aspects. But yeah, on that criteria, I don't think
Jim gets in. I think great career, but a great career doesn't mean you can get in the Hall
Fame, unfortunately. Absolutely. Ben, you're the man, bro.
And we didn't even complain about
Julieta Pena, which I wanted to do.
You didn't let me.
So that's okay.
I'm just trying to save you because she will come at you
with like a rat.
Honey badger.
She will kick your butt.
She hates her and Nunes.
It's crazy.
Man, thank you again, man.
It's awesome.
