Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. She can win.
Starting point is 00:01:21 She's an outsider to win the French fame. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any service. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds, I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The volume. As always, we work it. And today's episode is brought to you by Total Wireless, the official wireless provider of UFC.
Starting point is 00:02:21 They're in your corner with unlimited 5G data that won't slow you down. Oh, here is, here is. Day one, and I'm watching comes out tomorrow. I've seen that. They too. Sweden and I'm still watching Hamba tomorrow. Listen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:45 He's all like this. Who is this guy? I don't know. Who is that? He's from Sweden. That guy, he sounds just like him. Hey, listen. The video of us in Abu Dhabi a couple years ago
Starting point is 00:03:00 has been circulating again, you know, where we're wrestling at the hotel. And then that was the first time in Fight Island. You kind of picked me up a little bit, but like a little bit off the ground. Then the second time, we were wrestling again in Abu Dhabi. And you picked me up a little higher. It never felt disrespectful until today. You can't pick me up and spin me around.
Starting point is 00:03:23 I'm a grown man, Hamza. I'm showing you love, bro. But you're building. I'm not a child. My legs spin. It looks cute, brother. Hey! With the big shirt?
Starting point is 00:03:37 Why are you doing? Bro, what is that, bro? Oh, this is English and Ordis. It's a very great company. My best company, yeah. It's beautiful. What is this? Why always black?
Starting point is 00:03:45 You could use a little color in your wardrobe. It's better to use the black, bro. What? I don't know. It feels better. You got to put that right there. You talk, really. It feels better.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Yeah. Oh? That's, that's, I don't know. Color. Well, look at me. But look at me. Look at my face. Look at your face.
Starting point is 00:04:01 This beautiful, black skin, caramel. Your skin? Chechnine. Not beautiful like mine. That needs to be beautiful. What you need to be? World champion? Girls like terrorists. You're so crazy.
Starting point is 00:04:16 You can't say that. Okay. I was your key, bro. I know you are. All right, my brother. So, I was fighting with Dean Thomas the other day. Hey, stop this thing. It's fucking hot.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Put it on, like me. You put it on Hamzaa. What are we doing here? Hamzaa's not hot. Like, turn it this way. Like, give it. Turn it back this. You're seeing me and starting sweat, bro.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I get nervous. You come, I get nervous. I get nervous. I don't want to get picked up anymore. So, I'm arguing with Dean Thomas the other day, and we're talking about what you become a world champion would mean for the middleweight division. Part of the argument was the inactivity. He goes, he doesn't fight enough, so it'll become a mess.
Starting point is 00:04:56 That's the idea a little bit. But you're here now in the U.S., so clearly you can get here to fight. Are you wanting to get active like you were when you started your UFC career? Of course, of course. I say if no injury, nothing's going to happen. I want to go back in Abu Dhabi defend my belt. You want to fight again in October? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:15 That's fast. That's good, man. Fast money. What's your expectation for the fight this weekend, though? Because, I mean, Drake's Duplice has been underestimated time and time again, Hamza. But he's the only one that said, I want Hamzat next. everybody else avoids the Hamzaa Chamaia problem
Starting point is 00:05:36 not DDP Yeah There's respect, big respect But I never underestimate my opponent So I just work hard for the fight So I gotta go beat that guy Do you look at his skill set
Starting point is 00:05:49 And think that he's like What do you think of his skill set It's different All the fighters is different But this guy's skills are different Because he must be insanely strong Or something right because it seems like he's doing stuff wrong,
Starting point is 00:06:03 but it always works out. Edisonia, like, it looked like Edisonia almost knocked him down, he ends up with a takedown, right? He overthrows a punch, throws Izzy to the ground. Like, what do you make of his fighting style? Between Easy and me and big difference, but I'm not easy, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:19 His takedown easy, whose guy never wrestle, you know? So I'm better wrestle, I'm better striker. So there's no way you're going to do anything. Not striking, not wrestling. So I don't feel I'm better fight than I know. So back to you being able to fight in the country. When you're at home, right, and you're watching everybody with these opinions,
Starting point is 00:06:44 what are you thinking? Because you never said anything. You never explained why you weren't fighting more frequently. Like, what are you thinking? And I remember watching the video with Chale. And then, Homs, I can't get here. And then he pans to your manager. And it was like, you were at the PI.
Starting point is 00:06:59 Like, what were you thinking, watching? everybody with an opinion, but not necessarily knowing what's going on. Yeah, but I don't care about these things that they put me in that position, so it's not my fault. I was making more money and anyone does, but I don't care about it.
Starting point is 00:07:15 You were making money when you were fighting, you said? Yeah, when I was fights once, I make more and anyone does. So it's finally going to fight so often, I'm going to make more money. Starting point is 00:08:51 see dkng.co slash audio. Did you know after the Robb Whitaker fight that title fight was next? It should be. They said like three years ago I'm going to fight for the title, so if they make it a long time. What was the first time you heard that you would give a championship fight? After Gilbert Burns. After Gilbert Burns, they told you were going to fight for the belt?
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah. So what happened? I don't know. Did you ask? I never asked. I said, just give me the fight for the money. You said that the other day you said, you want the money.
Starting point is 00:09:24 The belt doesn't mean as much to you. Chale and I were having a tough. time kind of getting through that because everybody talks about the belt everybody wants the belt but to hear you say the belt doesn't mean as much like why and when did you develop that mindset where it wasn't about the belt it's about creating a future for your family has a question for you bro you want a 10 million dollars or just the belt but the belt leads to 10 million dollars homes up if i if i say to you like you has a choice here 10 million and just the belt No, I'm not taking the belt over the money.
Starting point is 00:10:01 But the belt leads to the money. I know. If you works hard, the belt is coming, bro. I need to beat the guy just after that. I don't need to think about the belt and make some pressure on my head, you know. Yeah. I don't need that belt. So if I get it, maybe bring them back to my country and give it someone.
Starting point is 00:10:20 What would that feel like to bring that belt back to you to Russia? For me, it's like not a crazy thing. I'm not like crazy big fun of it. But it's going to be huge, though. It would be massive. For my people, of course, the first guy who has become a UC champion from Chichenia, so they, it's big for them. And I know it's big, but I like to fight.
Starting point is 00:10:43 You become the world champ this weekend. You bring that belt back to Chechnya. They've celebrated some great champions in the history of your region. Bolvisar Satya have been one of them, like Adam Satya, of great champions. Like, what would it mean to you? Does that type of thing means something to Hamzaa Chima have to be viewed like that
Starting point is 00:11:06 and celebrated like that by the people that you motivate and the people that come from the same situation as you did? Bro, you give me the questions that a neighbor taking about, you know? You don't even think about none of that, huh? Why? Just focus on my fight, bro. Just focus on my fight. Then after that, what's going to happen?
Starting point is 00:11:27 It's up to God. Yeah. So you get here, many weeks ago, you start training down in Southern California. Yeah. The Airdine bike is hard. You guys are putting bands on the bike to make it harder. Why? It's crazy training, man.
Starting point is 00:11:43 That's hard work. It looks like it was just insanely hard work. Yeah, it is. It is. I've never done this kind of stuff. So, first time of life. So one of the knocks was that Hamzad gets tired. That's what people say.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Hamzad gets tired. Like if you can get through the first 10 minutes, five minutes, Hamzad gets tired, his cardio is going to fail him. Was that why you went out there and started doing those things? And whose decision was that to come out to Coach Cowell and start training there? Just speaking with Armand where it's to be good train, like, you know, privately. And he says he's LA. He has an old one guy and then Jackson House.
Starting point is 00:12:18 And there is the gym, good gym, no people there. So you can train along with your team. So that's why we went over there. But then TJ said he has a good coach. Yeah. Coach Cal is good. Yeah. He doesn't really do anything.
Starting point is 00:12:35 No interview is nothing. He just wants to kill you guys in that garage. It's hot as hell up there too. It's hot, hard. That's hot. But by going through that, you know that nothing in the fight that you're going to see Saturday could be any harder than it. Yeah, but nothing going to surprise me on that. So I don't think so fight can be harder on that.
Starting point is 00:12:55 So let me ask you this. What is your expectation of? Do you think you finish Drac's Duplice? Do you think, like, what is your expectation? Do you think that this is a long fight? Do you anticipate him being able to deal with what you show? Because I got to be honest. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 00:13:09 You felt pretty strong. You felt stronger than you used to. Yeah. Take secret juices. You can't say shit like that, man. I'm joking, bro. I don't know, bro. I'm dressed train hard, bro.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Whatever coach says that. that coach cow went there and worked hard till i'm can work till i'm done bro that's why i'm stronger than anyone so yeah fight how long as it goes i will be happy and 25 if it will one minute happy anyway how was it how was it coming across drakis yesterday in the hotel just i know for me it's nothing personal just having fun in twitter and making fans love it and, you know, like, lavas, and shape them, show them, and good show in the cage. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Yeah, that's it. Damn. But he's not that big, like people say, it's, like, big, big. He's, he don't think he's that big? No, he's not at all. Maybe because he's cutting weight, but, like, when he gets in the octagon, he's bigger. I'm cutting weight as well. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:14 And you wrestled with Sadiolive? Yes. In this preparation? No, just a little bit easy. Yeah. He was there. and preparing for his wrestling match. I was there as well.
Starting point is 00:14:28 We just wrestled a little bit. Nice. But he's crazy good. I can't win over the wrestlers, that kind of Olympic wrestlers. I'm not wrestling, you know. So in your M.MA. What did you just say?
Starting point is 00:14:42 I'm M.MA. You can't beat Olympic wrestlers. No, I can beat. But you think you can beat me. No, brother. I'm Olympic wrestling. You literally just said, man, you cannot beat Olympic wrestlers.
Starting point is 00:14:50 On wrestling match. Yeah, in wrestling match. In the kids, any race. Yes, sir. Any wrestler. You bring an Olympic champ in the cage, with the gloves, but... I beat anyone. Not me, but... Yeah, bro. The rest of these guys.
Starting point is 00:15:03 Yes, bro. You would not... Let me say, you want to find out if you could beat me in the cage? Pick me up again. Come down to my weight class, bro. No, no. I was never... I was joking. Hey, would you...
Starting point is 00:15:14 Are you... You win this belt this weekend? Do you think that you're... You ever want to go back down to 170? Because you look like a natural middleweight now. You don't look like you should try to cut back down. Yeah, but... It's one of the things we're thinking about, but I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Maybe, yes, maybe not. But I speak with Coach Carl. He said, we can do it if you gives me a couple of months. He's good. He has a, his laboratory. He's working with all the fighters. He makes T.J. go down with the weight. And, you know, he works with the crazy guys.
Starting point is 00:15:44 And I believe in him. The middleweight division has never been better. You win that championship. You can stabilize a lot of great guys, right? Well, how you'll. uh imovov um fluffy hernandez last weekend who looked amazing and so many others like going up in that weight class to become the champion and have those type of challenges is that exciting to humz achamaia any fight is exciting it's i'm saying i'm fighting for the money for don't care who is
Starting point is 00:16:12 going to fight me this guy right here they got a different mentality well why should they care it's going to be this one this one that anyone who makes me more money i fight that I will kill everybody smash this guy. For sure. I thought you're like crazy guy. Hey, good luck this weekend, my brother. You are the man.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Guys, Hamzaa Chimae fights for the middleweight championship this weekend. UFC 319 against Dreckis duplice. He put in the work. He feels strong. He seems ready. Go tapping everything this young man is doing. He's a monster and has lived up to the hype and exceeded all the hype that
Starting point is 00:16:49 preceded him as he came into the UFC. Until next time, subscribe and tell you friends that I'm tapping in with dudes like Hamzaa Chimaiv until next time. Peace. Hey, go buy UFC 319 too. Hamzat Chimov needs a little bit of that extra cheddar. You don't want the belt. He just want the money.
Starting point is 00:17:04 So go find a pay-review. Right on the front. Volume. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick.
