We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Every family has its secrets.
But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life?
That is not the look of an innocent man.
Is everyone lying to me about who they are?
I felt such desperation.
I felt it was what I had to do.

You got a question for me, Rob?
No, I just have a big respect for it.
You want to ask me for your shirt?
What shows?
This guy says something about his shirt.
He made his guy's a question.
I mean.
Stop.
I mean, I mean.
I mean.
You think I made shirts?
I don't know if Aljo said he made it.
So you're just going to believe Aljo he's a liar, man.
He sells alcohol.
This guy sells alcohol.
You want to trust a guy that's...
sells alcohol?
Yeah, but it's a natural alcohol from the right.
No, no, no, no.
Bad people sell alcohol.
Some people need alcohol to relax.
Like, Alger drinks alcohol is, boom, let's go.
My co-John Wood drinks alcohol is good.
Bring me from alcohol.
Hey, whenever we were at your house, getting ready to leave,
we give toast, you know?
Yeah, yeah.
20 times. Best toast of my life.
Yeah, wow.
Toast you, I toast, he toast, then we toast again.
Many, many, many times we toast, huh?
Respect, my God.
We have to take this in Georgia and he will see it.
Oh my God.
Your friend showed me a video, food.
It's like bread, inside the bread is egg with cheese.
It's good.
Is it good one?
Very good.
Okay, actually, we can make this one in Las Vegas.
No, no.
Last time I have the pancake.
Yeah, but no, no.
I said I can...
You gotta make this?
Yeah, when you come Vegas, I will make it for you.
The one with the bread is.
Yeah. Because he said you take the bread, take out, dip in the egg with the cheese.
Yes.
It's very good?
Very good.
Has Aljo had this?
He don't like eggs.
He likes different style, different style of Hachapuri.
There is many style, Hachapuri, but he don't like with eggs Hachapuri, but you would love it.
It's good?
Brother, this is the best, yes.
Really?
Yeah.
Nice.
Yeah, I was talking to your friend.
He was at the house when I went to.
It's him.
He's the guy that and edit your videos.
Yes.
Thanks for checking it with me.
Thank you, my pleasure.
My pleasure.
really fight this week in UFC 311
defends the championship against
Umar and Omega Medov
It's an odd one right
This one this fight
Because it was something that
It didn't seem like you expected
It to be Umar right now
Why why is that
Why because I said
After I win title against Shano Mali
I go Georgia and I said
What's it nice
Oh, it's mine.
Yeah, TikTok.
Oh, it's mine.
Yeah, maybe I can.
So when I win the belt in September, I go straight to Georgia.
And in press conference, journalists asked me when I was willing to come back and fight again,
and who should be my next opponent.
I said my next opponent should be maybe Umar Numa Gamado, but I would like to come back
either February or March and I will be ready.
Yeah.
And the woman tweet, disrespect me again, and he said, I don't know, he called me so many bad words,
a coward, something else.
Really?
Yeah, yeah.
I don't even speak this much good English to repeat all these bad words.
And he said, Marab, you know, February 5 is in Australia, UFC not going to make us fight there,
but March is Ramadan.
Oh, you ducking me, you run away from me.
But I had no idea that Ramadan was in March because last year Ramadan was in May.
And especially it was like it should be March six months from after my title win.
And so I wanted to fight March.
And then I guess and then the Wumar book fight with Songhidong.
I thought he was fighting with Songhidong.
And since Umar wasn't able to fight in March, I can fight next contender winner of
Pigerod or Piterion or if Shona Wally wants rematch.
And so by UFC need a need need need to fight in January.
I step up.
I'm a company man.
I said, let's go.
Yeah, that's big.
And that's a big fight, right?
You versus him.
It seems Marab, in most instances,
you don't have
like these types of interactions
with your opponents.
I was speaking to Umar earlier
and I said, well, why doesn't Rob, like,
it seems like he doesn't like you.
He said, well, ask him why he doesn't like me.
He said, I don't know.
But he said to me that you,
I said you're very respectful in the bill.
But he said, not necessarily
because against Peoria Jan,
you spoke a lot of trash about him.
Yes.
So why do you like having that chaos?
I don't like having chaos or any drama you know like as you see with Omale I was I had fun I was laughing and
with Peter Ian he was disrespectful he don't even I want to pace off with me he don't even
want to talk shake hands stuff like that and he was he was acting weird and I do have a
beef because he called me zero and he
was talking trash with me with Aljo and he broke the rules like he you don't
even know how to fight because you know when fighter is on the ground they
he throw knee against my my brother and this is you know everything else he was
they were showing us you know like and yeah Peter I don't like him before
now I'm okay you know I'm okay with him but I don't like this drama you know I mean
Can you even like, can you even say that you dislike this guy, Umar?
So I was very cool with Umar and I...
It seems like you guys would get along great. Like just knowing both of you.
So I was always cool with Umar. I always show him my respect.
And then we always say hello and everything else.
But and he called me peaked champion.
But I'm not paid champion.
I earned it to be champion and and he he tried disrespect me so many times online you know
and he even like I'm sure you saw some clips too he even was trying to everything to
disrep he even said oh Merrable will pull out I won't be surprised if Mara
pull out and stuff like this and bro just
just you don't have
UFC already give you this favor to
fighting debut guys and from
debut guys fighting number two
without any good contender and then
because of you beat number two they give you a title
fight and don't disrespect me
because I don't disrespect you
then don't blame on me if
if Jordan Jorvan Jorogan asks me
oh you're gonna fight
you're gonna fight with Umar, Umar, Umar Gammedo.
I said, I have to talk Dana White first.
I wanna have a nice conversation with Dana White first.
Because before the media always asked Dana White
some crazy questions about me and, uh,
and I wanted to, you know, have a good relationship with Dana.
And then if Dana say, hey, you have to fight Umar,
of course, I will say, yeah, you know,
because now I'm a champion.
I don't want to say, and then who knows,
if maybe Umar is next and who knows who is next, you know?
Because Umar pull out,
before and why I have to promote Umar. Umar already is promoted and I don't have to
talk about umar. Umar, yeah, um, he can't talk about me, but respectful way because I deserve
respect and then that was my problem, but and then when I saw him in person, I tell him why
you disrespect me, Umar. And he said, because I wanted what are you going to do about it?
And, uh, and press conference 30 minutes later, he said, I never disrespect you.
I never disrespect your country.
But even I just saw another clip.
He's saying, yeah, I did bully Merab.
I did talk trash about Merab.
I don't understand.
If you ask them, they're not talking trash.
They are very respectful.
But you know, they always make fun with you.
They always do crazy stuff, you know.
They're like normal like us.
Yeah.
But in papers and all, if they ask them, oh, they different, you know.
Okay, no, I respect Kabib's team a lot,
Only probably my head is it, Umar.
Yeah.
Mara, speaking of your last couple, your last fight, his last fight.
One, were you happy with the performance looking back on it against O'Malley?
And what did you take from that fight where Umar fought Corey Sanhagen and became the number one contender?
When you were studying him, what did you see that you think that you guys should take advantage of?
Sevo Mutar?
Were you happy with your performance?
And what did you think of his last performance against San Hagan?
Yeah, I beat Shono Mali.
Shona Mali was champion.
Was that a hard fight?
No, no hard fight.
But he has a knockout power.
He can knock out everybody, you know, anybody.
You know, it's not everybody.
If he landed you, he will knock you out.
So that was risky fight for sure, but we have a great, great training camp and good plans.
And, yeah, I beat him easy way and wasn't hard.
To watch Umer's fight, yeah, he did good against Corey Sanger.
And he beat number two guy and then, you know, umar is good fighter.
Well-rounded, you know, he can wrestling, can do grappling.
and, you know, he's a good triker also.
And, yeah, that was just one good fight against a ranked opponent.
You just think that he should have fought more guys to get to the title fight.
Yes, yes, at least one more like he was supposed to fight strong he don't.
And then, yes, bro, just fight Songadong, stay busy and don't pull out and just prove it like the rest of us, you know.
Like, we deserve it.
And, like, you know, that, that's, that was my thing.
How has your life changed since you became the champion?
Life, not much.
I'm still the same guy.
I'm still living the same house, and I still have same people around me.
And, but of course, I get so much respect, so much love, so much support as I'm a champion.
And, you know, like, now I am, how you say, move, well, I'm in.
So, I mean, you guys, what's the call, you guys?
Aljo.
No, no.
No, no, no, Aljo, it can't be translated.
Al J.
Al Jans, translate this.
Room?
No.
He's in our what?
World?
No.
Room, maybe, yeah.
Maybe room.
Like, Rome, like, you are now champion with everybody else.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you're a great champion, but I'm a champion, too, you know what I'm in?
Yeah.
So, I'm in the room with you.
Same category.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
You know, when I went to your house after the fight,
and you were running the next day,
it tells me how much you live this life of a champion.
What would it mean to you to beat a guy in Umar and a Mega Medal
that's undefeated that is, you know,
it's almost like, it's almost like he's the champion, right?
The way people talk.
It's almost like he's the champion.
What would it mean to you to stop and shut all that up?
And keep your belt.
Because ultimately it's always about keeping the belt, right?
Right. You're right. You make a good point.
That, yeah, exactly. I'm focused on win this fight and people will realize again.
Because people doubted me even before Shono Mali's fight, even before Henry Sehudu's fight, before Petterian's fight.
I mean, I was underdog many times.
But all I have to, I want to just win for my friends.
my team and people will realize.
Is he any underdog?
Are you the underdog?
I am an underdog.
Yeah, I'm a big underdog.
He's a big underdog.
Minus 300.
Yeah.
Yeah, big underdog.
That's crazy.
That serves motivational, right?
Listen.
I was an underdog fight, Nathan Anthony Johnson two times.
Interesting.
And it was really motivating for me to train harder and be like,
I'm going to shut everybody up.
I was the champion and I was the underdog.
champion and all is the underdog.
Yeah, interesting.
But no, it's not, this is, I don't pay attention to this because there are so many
people they have on opinions and especially Umar's fans are acting crazy.
I have to block so many people every day to like because they, they just disrespect me, man.
Yeah.
And then, um, yeah, I'm just focusing myself.
Yeah.
Underdog, because I don't, I don't, I don't.
I'm not focused of these people and this who makes ads and stuff like this because
thunder they don't fight.
They don't go in the oxygen.
Yeah, exactly.
You know, and then, you know, not, yeah, so this is what's matter is I have to show up
and I believe hard work, I was working hard and I believe hard work will pace off and I will be
winner January 18.
What does the perfect fight look like, Marab, like?
Like you're just taking them down over and over.
Like, what is like the perfect fight?
Because I've seen you almost run the guys helpless, right?
Like you shot so many times in the Odeon that it looked like he was almost like watching the clock to see when the time would run out.
So he didn't have to defend takedowns anymore.
Or what, like, the perfect night in with you beating him in the striking?
Perfect night would be a punch his face matches, like a lot of punches in the face, damage in the head.
Last one before I let you go.
So I follow you on Instagram.
I think you're like insanely, I think you're like insanely funny.
I like when you were slapping that girl's ass.
Hey, he said, he said, can I touch this?
I have permission.
Hey, God.
She's twerging in front of you.
Hey, can I touch it?
That's me.
I always ask if I get permission, then I can.
I have a pretty much.
Brother, can I touch this?
Bow, bow, bow, bow.
That was so funny, dude.
I saw you outside of the PI one time, like you got locked out.
Like, you got locked out of the PI?
They happened multiple times.
This training camp multiple times is happened.
That was the first time when I posted, but it happened after this.
What is the UFC said to you about this?
Not UFC.
Just like saying to the PI, like, want to make sure you all separated?
Security to tell me, I am sorry, man, we love you.
But, Umar is inside.
We can let you in.
I'm like, bro, I have injury.
I have appointment.
They don't give you guys, like, appointment times in terms of like when you can go?
Usually how it is, you know, I training, training.
I finish training at Syntica at 1 p.m.
And right after training, I go to PI.
Shower, treatment.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If I want, like, what's it called?
Recovery.
recovery, yeah, stuff like this.
Yeah, or maybe nighttime training after.
But now every time, not every time, but a couple times,
Umar was there and the security, I guess, there was a prey to something.
Like y'all might fight.
Yeah.
But you don't get paid to fight in the PI.
Yeah, PI, I respect PI also a lot.
But I was, at that time, I was really mad about Humor.
So you were going to fight at the Pia.
So the security made the right choice by not letting you in.
So security actually did the right thing.
Yeah, but I still, I was still feel disrespectful.
They don't let me in PIA.
You're a man.
Thank you for checking in with me.
You are the best.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news, Nick? Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves.
Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear.
The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.
Listen to SportsSlic on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is.
Getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is.
Getting a new one put up in its place.
As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War.
To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard.
Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, you're not doing your job.
I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things.
The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space.
We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit.
How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire.
that is really catching.
You'll see what I mean.

The last time we spoke,
we spoke about wrestling, right?
Navas says going to play a big part
in this fight,
as it always does when Islama Hachaf fights
or when you fight.
And you started, you were specific,
freestyle wrestling,
freestyle wrestling.
I always gave you shit
about how you would say
freestyle wrestling.
What makes you,
why do you feel that that,
side of the wrestling is better for mixed martial arts and make you more well equipped for mixed martial art.
Freestyle wrestling because like a sport, it's the best sport, like for the MMA fighter, because
when you're coming from the freestyle wrestling, you're strong, you're explosive, you know, you can
wrestle, you just need a little bit box and like how, know how to defend some missions, you know.
quick after your fight with Charles Olavera, did you know that you would get this fight?
Right away, they told me to fight in June.
Yeah, yeah.
Were you hurt?
No, I had like six weeks after the fight.
You wanted to give yourself to you.
Yeah, I wanted to like have a good training camp, like get ready, you know, well, and
and because I was number one, why I should take the risk, you know.
And now I'm ready for the fight.
Were you worried that although when, like, Dustin Porier stepped in?
Because there's something to beating guys, right?
But there's also something to be a guy that's a dominant champion, like Islamahach.
Were you a little worried, like, man, what if that moment ends up being taken by Dustin Porre?
No, I was okay because I knew, like, I'm going to fight next with the winner.
So I was okay if it's Dustin, if it's Islam the same, you know.
When you watch that fight, it felt like people were saying Dustin did really well because he defended takedowns and I think he cut Islam, right?
Did you feel like that was a competitive fight or did you feel like Mahathev was out ahead of him and he, you know, getting judged a bit unfairly?
No, it was a competitive fight.
It was Dustin looked good and he caught him.
He like, he did damage to him and just around number five.
He got tired, you know, and gave his neck.
What can you take from that fight and apply to your fight?
We were a little bit different fighters, you know.
He had that different game plan.
He just thought about he's the fan of wrestling and strike him.
But, like, I'm like, I have a different game plan.
I can wrestle, you know, and not just the fan of wrestling.
You were able to offensively wrestle with Islam in the first place.
Yeah.
How much difference is the preparation?
going to be because the last fight was on very short notice, right?
Yeah.
And how old were you?
Like 21 years old?
32 years old.
No fight camp.
How much different is this preparation opposed to that one?
And also, Armand, how much confidence does it give you to know that in the first fight,
you were able to find success.
We were able to secure takedowns and you weren't able to train and prepare the right way for that fight?
Yeah, of course, but when you have a whole time.
training camp you cut weight very well you don't worry about anything it's just you're super
confident because you did all all things what you got to do so you did exactly my like diet you know
exactly my training camp like trainings like follow rules that I got to do and that gives me
that gives me a lot of like confident you know and and and I know like and I know like
Like, I'm not watching the last fight, you know, like to say, oh, I look good at fight.
Yeah.
I'm just a new version of Armantzuriken, and I want to show a new fight.
So you didn't even watch the first fight?
No, I watched like when, like, someone asked me, just I know what happened there.
Yeah.
But you don't use it as preparation.
Like being in the octagon, you can learn something.
I was completely different fighter.
It's no makes sense.
I just watched where I was weak and was positioned.
I was bad.
I just work a lot on my wrestling and striking.
Do you think your willingness to offensively wrestle against him
can really be what may be the difference?
Because most don't try to take Islam down.
They're just so worried about defending his takedowns
that they find themselves kind of like stuck on their back foot.
Do you think your willingness to go try to take him down
is going to be what will be the difference?
Yeah, yeah, I want to take him down.
Yeah, I know I can take him down and I'm going to look for that as well.
Because I know my wrestling, I can take down Olympic champion, you know.
Who did you wrestle with?
What Olympic champ did you wrestle with?
Siddakov.
You wrestled Zedko?
Wait, oh, yeah, because he was in America for a while.
He was down in Florida?
No, no, we wrestled in Russia.
Oh, in Russia.
How much time did you spend with him?
He's the man.
He's the man.
Two weeks?
Two weeks training, and you enjoyed it.
Yeah, he's so smart, so strong.
Yeah, I can't explain.
Did he get you with the outside step high crotch?
That's so nasty.
Have you seen the Japanese kid?
Oh, yeah, the 19 years old kid.
Have you seen that dude?
Yeah, he's a future Olympic champion.
He won?
Yeah, no, he won the World Championship.
But he teched Vito O'Ruzzao.
Yeah, everybody.
Everybody, 10.
Even Uguyen.
Aguia, 10-0.
Former Olympic champion.
But still just snatch the arm, take the leg, over.
He's too strong, I explore you.
Future, future of this wrestling.
Yeah.
What would it mean for you to become the world champion this weekend
in Los Angeles?
Don't you spend some time here whenever you're not in training camp?
Yeah, yeah.
I have a lot of friends here.
I come here a lot and I like this place.
It means for me a lot, you know.
It means like everything that I've dedicated for 10 years,
last 10 years I've been in MMA and I just work on this goal all my years, you know,
and I want to achieve that and I want to be the first guy who beat Islam.
Yeah.
I mean like since he became a champion.
Do you think, but does that mean a little more to beat a guy that has been the champion like that?
It's going to mean a lot because he's a powerful.
pound fighter right now is the best and to beat like this guy like no doubt every everybody
gonna say this guy is the future of this division so do you do you like the respect or do you like
having a little bit of like in a fight it's better respect yeah you don't think you're not angry
you know like you don't want to go right the way to like kill you know because when you're like
too crazy you have like crazy emotion but
not older.
Was that you with Bobby Green in Austin last year?
You guys were going crazy?
Love it, yeah.
You like that?
No.
Yeah, you like that.
You know you like it.
You trained with the guys, St. John Bosco, right?
You would go wrestle with those guys, the Armenian guys.
You said that kid Grigor started for Stanford right now.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, he's doing really good.
It's good, yeah.
Well, good luck this weekend, man.
Thanks for checking in with me as you always do.
