This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Winning on Clay is an art.
The rallies are relentless.
And at the French Open, only the toughest survive.
I'd know.
I competed there for decades.
Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no-nonsense breakdowns of the
biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris.
She can win.
She's an outsider to win the French fame.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.
And I actually can win on any service.
Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports.
I'm Michelle McPhee, and I've been unraveling the strangest criminal alliance I've ever reported on.
A Mormon polygamist and an Armenian businessman.
Multi-million dollar house, Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, a billion dollar fraud.
But how long can this alliance last?
Tell me what you know.
Is somebody coming after me?

The Volume.
Guys, Michael Chandler.
So, backstory.
I was in your sleeping on the ground.
You were.
Dude, that's bad.
No, it's all right.
You walked up on them in the corner in full slumber.
Yeah, you got to get a little nap in when you can.
I heard you took a red eye, man.
I took a red out last night.
Played golf in the morning.
Big mistake.
Would you get straight off the plane and go straight to the coast?
Dude, I landed at 745.
Grab my bag by 9-10.
T-N-all.
That's savage material.
You deserve a little on that.
I'm tired, but I'm going to bed after this.
But anytime I get a chance, talk to Michael Chandley, you know I'm on it.
Thank you for checking it with me.
My brother.
Appreciate it.
Mike, another big fight.
This time, it's a little different.
Right?
Because before, it's usually big-name guy, right?
This time it seems like it's a younger guy, up-and-coming guy that's trying to really make his name.
We went to the decision to kind of reach back, right, like and fight a guy that's below you in the rankings.
I think there's a responsibility.
You know, at some point, I've had five fights in the UFC, every single one of them.
You know, it happened one other time I fought Tony Ferguson and he was ranked higher than him.
But other than that, man, it's been first ballot Hall of Famers I've been fighting, you know?
And at some point, you know, you probably may have felt it in your career, like the fans are getting a little antsy.
Like, hey, you can't just sit around and cherry pick and only fight guys ahead of you.
Now, I never chose a fight.
Maybe I picked a couple here and there, but like the UFC's always offered me fights.
And then when this one came around, it's like, hey, Poria had to fight Ben-Was-Saint-Den.
Beat him and they got a title shot next.
Yeah, yeah.
I forget that.
And Gaci had to do it with Fiziv.
At some point, you got to fight someone.
who's ranked, you know, lower than you.
And here we are.
When did they come to you with this fight, though?
Like, when did they come to you and say, hey, they have this idea of you versus Patty Pimbley.
Because honestly, when you are a guy like you, that's not the easiest conversation.
Because, like, I know you want the title fights.
Now you want the big fights.
When they went to you with Patty Pimilar, were your original like, ah, well, okay.
No, no, because I, I mean, yeah, I said yes right away.
I was like, yeah, I like, I like the idea.
I like the name.
I like the brand.
I like the idea.
I knew we would get to this point.
Yeah.
This might be the most exciting,
the most fight that people are most looking forward to on this card,
even though we have a title fight in the main event.
This could be the people's main event,
a lot of people.
I've heard that.
Somebody said that to me today.
Yeah, you know, so it's kind of like, it's a big fight.
And at some point, it's like, hey, I'm coming off of a loss.
You know, I had my opportunity.
I beat Charles in November.
Yeah, you fight for the belt.
Fighting for the belt.
Yeah.
I didn't.
I got a fess up to that.
I got a pony up to that and I got to say, okay, okay, I'll fight Patty Pimbley.
With that being said, it was brought to me in like December, January,
but I needed to heal up a little bit, need to do some PT, some rehab after the last fight
because I hurt my leg in the last fight.
So I'm good now.
So I'm glad I said yes to the fight in April and here we are.
Getting to fight a guy like this, when you look at Patty Pimlet, right, for so long since he got here,
anytime these guys come with hype, everybody starts to wonder,
When's he getting knocked off?
When's he getting knocked off?
But this kid has stepped up at every opportunity, right?
And most impressive was this fight against Bobby Green.
So when you break down Patty Pibble,
I'm talking Michael Chandler to fight him,
but I'm talking about the analyst,
the guy that can step outside of this thing
and look at it for what it is.
What do you see from this kid?
I mean, I see confidence, first and foremost.
He's confident in himself.
He truly thinks, you know, he's been saying it in interviews
and I have other interviewers and say,
hey, Patty said this earlier, he believes he's going to walk through, he's going to beat you in too.
I mean, I want a guy who believes in himself, all right?
This is what we do.
We've been competing with our hands.
Whole life.
Yeah, our whole life, right?
So I want the toughest competition.
I want the best Patty Pimbleau on fight night.
But that being said, I mean, he's going to come out.
He's going to throw wild punches, or at least that's what he's done against guys that he maybe wasn't intimidated by.
I'm not saying he's intimidated by me, but he knows my track record.
He knows I'm a dog in there.
So we'll see if he does do that.
And then on the ground, he's pretty slick, but his last fight was Bobby Green.
No, you know, with all due respect, I'm better than that.
Yeah.
I throw bigger punches.
I will not get caught in those submissions.
I think I'm better on the ground.
I'm stronger on the ground.
I'm a more strong human being, a strong body in there in a different presence than he's ever felt.
I'm not saying he's going to sink or swim.
It remains to be seen.
But he's never felt the likes of me.
Is there a, is there a, uh,
Is there a world where your approach is a little different with this kid?
Because the one thing that stood out to me when talking to the kid is in my research,
I don't think Michael Chandler is as good a wrestler as everybody gives him credit for
because he's an all-American.
We think he's such a great wrestler, but I believe Charles Olivares exposed that.
And I think that I can take him down.
I said, you think you're taking him down at his body.
I said, maybe you can barrel him and throw him to the ground.
He goes, no, I could shoot a single dog.
I go, you think you could shoot a single leg on Michael Chan and take him down.
He goes, yes.
But those opportunities present themselves if you overextend yourself.
Is there a world where you start a little slower?
Yeah, maybe, maybe.
You know, I mean, I think I started slower against Charles until something happened.
Yeah, you start fighting.
First round, you know, and then all of a sudden my entire family.
was taken away from me. The whole 12-week, 10-week training camp I did was predicated upon a certain
type of style and then my body failed me in that point and I found myself backing up or I found
myself, I mean, if you look in the fifth round, man, after I had Charles hurt, I threw a left
hook and my left leg wasn't even on the ground because I wasn't putting any weight on it and did a
complete 180. What happened? I hurt my leg in that first exchange, the first grappling exchange.
Yeah.
But three months of rehab, PT, multiple times a day, a couple days a week, has got me back and I'm good.
So, yeah, it's unfortunate, but I was able to take a lot of things from the Charles fight.
And I think things that the fans may not have seen, and you don't really know unless you're actually in there.
But I made some strides and I made some improvements mentally and spiritually, like, different as a competitor in that fight.
Inside the fight.
Inside of the fight where I was like, okay, we're doing good.
We're growing still.
And if you're, you know, my age and you're doing as long as I have and I'm still growing, that's a good thing.
And I think this fight is a perfect opportunity to show that even more.
And we'll see.
But there's a world where I'm calculated, but there's also a world where I go out there and knock him out.
Because it would seem, right, we've seen you hurt everybody you fight and it seems as though his key.
Patty's never been in there with anybody that hurts him.
I think the key to this fight is making him feel uncomfortable.
Did you guys pick up on that in the bill?
Yeah, that's kind of my goal at all times when I'm fighting a guy.
I mean, whether I'm fighting a guy like Gatju loves to be in the firefighter,
or I'm fighting, you know, a pourier putting pressure on him or fighting any of these guys.
I mean, I want him to, it's 100% certainty.
He's never fought a guy like me.
So there's that question mark, right?
So then once he gets in there, I want him to feel my presence and feel my pressure right away.
Does he sink or swim?
We'll find out.
Now that doesn't mean I'm going to go crazy.
Wild and do some of the other stuff that I've done in other fights.
But then again, maybe it does.
We'll see.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts around there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered.

The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis.
And I know firsthand because I competed there myself.
I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast,
I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris.
Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay.
Jenchian win.
I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now.
And I actually can win on any surface.
Because if she's serving, well,
Good luck.
Consider this your court side seat to the French Open.

Speaking of you, contemporaries, Porriere and all those guys,
what is going on with Dustin Porrier?
And I got to tell you something about Justin Gates you, though, about what he said, right?
Because they're just kind of attacking you.
Like what is going on in that?
And like, why when you guys don't have anything together?
Why do you think right now is the time that that's,
because I saw a video on Dustin Portier seemed mad.
But I'll tell you what Justin Gatesy told me when you tell me what,
what do you think is happening?
I don't know.
I mean, I could care less, honestly.
Yeah.
It's one of those things where we're in the sport.
We get asked questions and we give answers on the fly
and we talk about what we talk about.
I'm not really that worried about it.
I mean, I've been a guy who's been an outsider, an outcast here and there.
I like to be well-liked.
I'm a guy who like to be a lot of me.
Allegedly.
You're good dude.
We don't know.
We haven't fought you.
Like the ones that haven't fought you, like the people like us, right?
It's like, you're good.
So you want me to tell you what Justin Gates you told me why I like you?
Let me tell you.
That's his words.
Because I always, I've always liked you.
And he goes, let me tell you why you like Chandler.
Because I was like, what's up with you?
you guys saying that about him in the way that he fights.
He goes, how about this?
He goes, I'll tell you why you like him.
He goes, because you're like Michael Chandler, being that you're a competitor and such a
competitor that you'll be willing to do anything to win.
That's what Justin Gatesy told me.
So I don't know that that's a compliment or an insult.
Well, I also, but that's what he said.
I guess, I mean, well, the crazy thing is like what happened in that fight?
The only thing that happened in that fight was when I threw a level.
left hook right hand and then there was a eye poke and then the referee didn't stop you know
yeah he said all these like you're like those things happen and actually here's here's the
worst part about it and I actually screen recorded on my phone but I'm not I'm not here to defend
myself yeah and the Charles Olivera fight I hit him with the hard right hand I post my hand
on his face there's a side on this where these two fingers are exposed and there's a side of an angle
on this where these three and then all of a sudden he does this and now everybody's like oh he poked him in
But it's just like, well, just because he's rubbing his eye doesn't mean I poked him in the eye.
It's like, there's video evidence of it.
So there's stuff like that.
But you're also just like, dude, there's a referee in there.
Yeah.
I've never had a point taken away.
I'm like, I don't know.
I just honestly don't know what's happening.
I was like, well, what is going on?
I don't know.
Because I said, well, maybe because they fought each other and these guys don't want to like each other.
Also, I mean.
He said you tried to knock him out after the referee was like.
Yes, I did.
Of course I did because the referee didn't stop us.
If that's what he's mad at me about, why are you mad at me, dude?
Like the referee, Mike Beltran of all people, who's got six foot long arms was nine feet away and said, and it looks like he does this.
But I'm over there and he's nine feet away.
And I'm like, dude, unless a referee is in the middle.
You're taught.
He's a wrestler, first of all.
That's why I said it's a sign of weakness.
I'm like, dude, you're a wrestler, dude.
You're supposed to know you wrestle until the whistle class, right?
You fight until the ref stops you, and he didn't stop.
So you're just like, if that's cheating, I don't know what you want me to do.
Is it the cheating or is it the ref or not doing his job?
Yeah.
So I don't know, man.
We're fighting, dude.
This is combat sports.
What are we even talking about here?
Exactly.
Yeah, so I was just kind of wondering because it feels like as you're preparing for Patty Pimbled.
Patty Pimlet's not saying these things.
It's all the guys from your past.
Yeah, and I appreciate that.
You know?
And also, I mean, when you beat a guy, you want to see him.
do not as good as you after that.
Yeah.
Well, hey, I beat him, so therefore I should be here and I should be here.
And I think there's certain aspects of this sport that guys like Daniel Cormier probably, you know, had where they're like, I just keep on getting promoted.
And I just keep on getting these big fights and great things keep happening and good things happen to good people and all these other things.
But then there's other people who are like, yeah, but I beat him.
So kind of kind of mad about this.
Why am I, you know.
Mike, you have had one of the funnest runs in the UFC.
It hasn't come with the success that you would hope it had been.
Is this one of those situations where it's a must win for Michael Chan.
Like, do you put that pressure on you like, hey, I feel, this is me from the outside,
and you can tell me if you disagree.
I feel like you've entered into that realm of existence where, because it's always fun,
the result always doesn't matter as much as the feeling that the fans leave.
the fight with.
So when Nate Diaz lost to Leon Edwards,
he hit him with the one, two,
and he pointed at him, it's like,
well, Nate Diaz had that moment.
But as a competitor, I know you the competitor.
I don't know if you want to live in that area.
Do you feel like this one, no?
It's like a must win.
Yeah, I don't want to live in that area,
and I've gone out there to try to win every single fight.
Yeah.
And, yeah, I mean, I think it is.
And my back's been up against the wall a couple times.
So UFC debut, knocked out Dan Hooker.
Then I'm on this big run, and it's a UFC title fight,
and there's like there's really not a lot to lose,
and I lose that one.
But then I come back and I backs up against the wall against Tony Ferguson.
Yep.
Highlight.
K-O of the year, Sports Center number one on SportsCenter's top 10.
Like these kinds of things happen.
So something wells up inside me when my back is up against the wall,
and I think this is one of those fights.
So that's why you've got it by the pay-per-view,
you've got to show up.
And I will have people on the edge of their seats,
if not standing up,
because that's what I always do
every single time I step into the octagon.
I saw that picture of you looking jacked
and had a picture of Patty looking fat and said,
explain to this person that this guy's favorite
to be this guy and you're like,
this is exactly where I want to be, right?
Is it not, like, fighters feel something
when they are doubted.
And you have to feel that right now, being that,
this is the next generation.
And that's the danger in those fights, right?
because can't really lose to the next generation,
or that's almost a sign of,
okay, well, maybe it's like coming to the end, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I feel it, and it's, but it's fine.
I mean, I've, I look at the sport differently in the sense
or like I keep saying, it's like it's not Patty Pimble,
it's a head, it's a torso, two arms and two legs,
and I just, there's a soul in front of me,
and I see targets in front of me, and I get after it.
So, I mean, yeah, I agree.
Obviously, there's implications,
Negative implications, but there's also some very good positive implications, right?
This is a big fight, people's main event, five rounds, co-main event in Miami, Florida.
This is big, man.
It's exciting, and I'm excited to compete.
I'm excited to go out and just do what I do.
Continue to get to do what I do.
You know, guys, Michael Chandler and I are friends.
We've always been friends.
It's not always perfect.
One time we got into an argument, we started with voice memos,
did text messages, then phone calls.
It was like very intense between Mike and I, so we do get after each other.
at times, but then most times we come back around to where we are right now.
So Michael Chandler fights at UFC 314 this weekend against Patty Pimlet,
looking to get back on the winning track and looking to really put a halt to all the
momentum that Patty Pimlet has.
Guys, make sure you go to his YouTube channel, like and subscribe, set those reminders.
It's fantastic.
Also, make sure you tap into everything that he's doing.
UFC 314 goes down this weekend.
Kasea sent an ESPN plus pay-per-view.
Make sure you hit the buy button and always support Michael Chandler.
Mike, thank you so much for checking.
Can it with me?
Until next time, guys.
Peace.
