Guys, Patty to Batty takes on Michael Chandler this weekend, UFC 314.
You know, we did this a while back, and then last fight we didn't.
So coming back now, it's like such a different situation, right?
because the first time we did it in Vegas, it was all love.
Everybody was in love with Patty to Batty.
And then we talked when John Jones was fighting, I think, and I said, Patty, like, fame, right?
There's two sides to it.
And you were like, yeah, it sucks.
And then you said to me the funniest shit I've ever heard.
He said, thank God for Ian Gary.
You remember what I thought?
You were like, thank God he is on there because everybody's kind of like leaving me to fuck alone.
How has it been now, right?
Because it's almost like you had this resurgence, right?
Because you had the mental awareness where you talked about mental health and everybody's like,
yo, now I remember why I love this kid so much.
Like, how's everything been now since all that?
Well, as you say, like fame and whatever you'd call, there's a double-edged sword, isn't it?
I know what I mean?
Some people love you, some people like you.
I'm used to it.
I've been getting, like, trolle and stuff like that for years since I was a young kid, fighting amateur.
So it's not new to me.
I just take it all on my stride.
Yeah.
It's been good to watch.
Most times, Patty, when a guy comes in with a lot of hype, right?
Connor McGregor, for one.
You another.
When guys come in with hype, especially when you guys are European,
we as Americans are, as MMA fans, is like, when are they going to fall?
When are they going to fall?
Somebody's going to get this dude.
He's not that good.
Somebody's going to beat him.
Connor ultimately became the champion.
You, it was, Bobby Green's going to get him.
Because looking what Bobby did to the kid from one.
American Top Team, what's the kid's name of American Top Team that he knocked out?
Grant Dawson, who was like another young prospect.
You didn't only beat Bobby or King Green.
You beat him in a dominant way,
and everybody still wonders when's he going to get got.
But I don't know that you're going to get got.
It's like everything you said, everything you said is really coming true.
Yeah, that's it.
You've got to speak things into reality.
You've got to visualize, as people say.
I've done a little game with some before,
name, like, Winner stays on, Paddy Pimler,
and I just be named every lightweight
and it said me every time.
I always think, what's the point in doing this sport
if you think anyone in your weight division can beat you?
Yeah.
Like, you've got to know and think that you're the best in the world,
and that's what I do.
I think I'm the best in the world.
People laugh at me for it, but it's one of them.
I think I am the best in the world,
and over the coming years, I'm going to prove that.
Take me back to that night, though.
you fought green and he's a tremendous striker, right? And you didn't look nervous. You look big.
You look real big in the octagon, big and strong. When you took him down, it looked like you guys
were on like just a completely different level. And I don't know, Patty, that you had submissions
in the UFC, but it never looked as clean as it did in that fight. What on that night back in
Manchester, like walk me through, like what you were feeling going into that fight and when the
fight started, why you fought so well?
And did you feel it all coming together?
Like, this is going to be my performance that people
will talk about until ultimately
I think I'll become the champion. Yeah, it felt
good going into the fight. Don't I mean?
Everything was when, after
I was having a bad time, about six weeks
out or something, but then after that, everything went a bit
more smooth. That it wasn't the smoothest fight camp.
This has been a smooth one. But
I just know
levels. I mean, there's levels to this game.
And everyone said it was going to get
knocked out on their feet and people up. And
I think I was winning the striking on the feet,
no I mean, I was leg kicking him off.
I hit him in a couple of jabs.
I don't think he got it with one head strike.
And then, obviously, I kicked his leg out
and he ended up.
People keep thinking he shot in, but it was...
It looked like he shot, because it looked like you heard him.
Yeah, I leg kicked him,
and he had the decision to add to try and grab my leg
or end up on all fours and me take his back.
So obviously he went for the option of taking me down
and triangles my submission.
That's such a nice submission.
So as soon as I jumped into that game,
guillotine and I had his arm there.
It was like, yeah, triangle.
And it was crazy because he was saying all the way through camp,
and like, if I get his arm, I don't think he'll tap on and have to snap it.
Put him, yeah.
And then, but he was asleep, you know what I mean?
He went straight to sleep.
I think it was a late stoppage by the ref to be honest.
That is happening a lot lately, dude.
There was one a few weeks ago that was really bad.
With the hits on the side of the head, I can't remember who it was,
but there was one recently.
It was in Mexico.
It was really bad.
One kid was out.
Drew Dober.
Drew Dober.
was out so bad. And then Drew gets up and he starts complaining.
Yeah, yeah. He's like, he's fighting the rough. Dude, I'm like, yo, it's over, bro.
12 strikes to the side of the side of the night. He was basically already out.
He was out. But yeah, we got to be a little better about that. So you beat, you beat King Green.
And you were very adamant early. I'm not going to do nothing I'm not comfortable with.
I'm going to fight the guys that they put in front of me. But when it's time to fight the best guys, I want to be paid for it.
I want to be fighting when I'm ready, you start getting names.
Was Michael Chandler the first name you got to fight coming back?
Yeah, he was.
A few of the ones got mentioned, no what I mean?
But Chandler was the one that got said, and I was like, yeah, definitely, let's do this.
Yeah.
Like my manager said, you may end up fighting him, you may end up fighting him,
but then he spoke to Hunter and he got mentioned, Chandler, and I got the phone call.
I was like, yeah, definitely.
And I had to wait a few days to see.
TV said yeah and then like three days later and then we're getting the phone call like a week,
two weeks before Christmas and just celebrating. Yeah, that's what I was going to wonder. Like,
were you excited? Yeah, I couldn't, couldn't stop walking up and down in the house, like jumping
up and down, ringing people, like, I'm fighting Chandler. Why? Just because it's finally someone
in the top ten and finally stepping up to where I know I deserve to be. And I'm going to
take rank seven and I can't wait for it. Like, I really can't.
The thing that's surprising to me is that we're finally starting to get or feel like we're getting to a point where the guys at 155 are willing to kind of look down to say, okay, I guess it's my time to fight these guys, and if they're ready, I guess they'll pass me.
Gaechi did it with Fiziv, right? And I was very surprised. Porier did it with Benoit Sandini.
I was very surprised on that one, because when he, I made fun of Binwasan Dini for calling them out because I was like, there's no way it's happening.
Then he got to fight. Now you and Michael Chandler, for so long, once he was.
555 at the top has been those names, right?
Olivera, Chandler,
Fourier,
Gaei.
Now that it feels
like we're changing over,
like, how quickly
do you think that
you can start to not only get through Michael
Chandler, but starts to plan another guy,
and then work you well to me to a championship fight?
Yeah, well, I think I could be fighting for the title next year.
Beat Michael Chandler and
my plan is to come back and
fighting Abu Dhabi on that pay-per-view in October.
beat a Charles or Justin Portier
and then I'll be a number one contender
as long as I beat one of them
but I think the old guard is starting to phase out
like I was talking about it before
think about eight fighters in the top ten
or over 35.
Yeah, that's hard at that.
It's hard at those weights.
Yeah.
Heavy weights, you can fight until you're 40, right?
But down that 155 and below,
being in your mid-30s is very difficult.
Yeah.
Do you think it shows itself this weekend?
You and Michael Chandler?
Yeah, I think it shows itself this weekend.
You know, Chandler's always been known as fast and explosive.
And I think I'm going to expose that.
He's not fast anymore.
He's not as explosive as he once was.
His knees are terrible.
He's not going to be able to have his good movements,
and I'm going to take that away from him also.
Everyone as well thinks that he's a better wrestler than me.
Maybe when it comes to, like, American wrestling.
Yeah, put some wrestler shoes on.
Yeah, he is a better wrestler than me.
But when it comes to MMA wrestling, I think Charles exposed him.
You think you can out-wrestle Michael Chandler?
Yeah.
Seriously?
Yeah.
Just had the- If I want to take my-val-Call-A-Mah.
At the body, you mean?
Like, not grabbing his legs, like grabbing him body, lock.
You think you could single-leg Michael Chandler?
Yeah.
Patty, come on.
Yeah.
Dude, Charles took him down with body locks.
I took him down with a double-leg at one time.
He double-legged Michael Chandler.
He actually did.
And then he grabbed a single and pushed his head and took him down that way.
We've studied a load of tape.
You know what I mean?
I've got a breakdown of Michael Chandler there.
And his wrestling isn't as good as everyone thinks it is.
Well, he's an All-American, so it's like, oh, my God, he's a great wrestling.
Exactly.
But what do you see when you see Michael Chan, especially not Charles Oliva fight?
Because this is my next question, and I don't want it to be, I don't want it to feel disrespectful to Michael Chandler.
Because I know Mike for a long time, I like Mike.
What did you see in that Oliva fight?
Because it did seem to me, like, Charles kind of just beat him up.
Yeah.
right and then Mike had that moment at the end
and he's kind of gotten into this
place where it's almost like the Diaz brothers
where no matter what happens
you remember poor Leon Edwards
beats the shit out of Nate Diaz
and then he gets called
he gets caught and he gets pointed out
and it's like it's all anybody talked about
yeah so he's kind of like entered into that
area of where it's almost like
everything's forgiven as long as he has a moment
yeah but when you break him down
truthfully what did you see
in that fight
as you say he got dominated
he had that one moment in the fifth
where he dropped them,
but he then got his backtuck and controlled after it.
He jumped up and threw him back.
If he tries to jump up him backwards with me, I'm going to choke him.
Yeah.
There's so many, like I know Charles gets called the best submission
I've ever in the UFC because he's got the most submissions,
but I will submit Michael Chandler.
You said that somewhere,
that you feel like your submission skills are on that level with all of them.
Yeah, on that level.
Or better?
Yeah.
I've got more of a killer instinct.
when it comes to submissions where he's more,
like he's more jujitsu,
where I'm MMA graphing.
Like, I'm not as good when it's straight jujitsu.
Yeah.
And better when there's punches and elbows involved.
It makes a big difference for me.
And as I say, I can see me submitting him.
It's funny because people are like,
there's no way Paddy submits him if Charles couldn't
he was on his back for so long.
Yeah.
I don't just have a reunited chope when I'm on your back.
I have several other submissions
that I can go for when I'm on your back
and you'll see that on.
Awesome.
Yeah.

Huge news.

Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
We were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
She's an outsider to win the French for me.
And she likes Clay.
Listen, Lerner Rabakina is.

So, Mike's in a, Michael Chandler's in a bit of a very tough situation. He's two in four and
UFC career, right? So he's a big star. He hasn't won at the level that he needs to. So it's a little bit
crossroads for him. And it happens to a lot of fighters as they age. They get a Patty Pimlet or another young
up-and-coming guy. You're more of an established guy, but that's trying to break his way into the
championship fighting. Then you have the veteran, the grizzled guy that's been around forever. But when you
have lost more than you've won inside the UFC, at times that can cause some desperation. Do you
expect Michael Chandler to be more aggressive, more desperate on Saturday night, because he needs
to win, and he needs to win. He got, he's got to win impressively. So do you expect him to give
you more openings early because of that pressure that he's going to feel to get a victory?
He gives everyone openings. He comes out very aggressive in every fight and blows his load of it.
Towards the end of every round, he's tired. I know he's cardio is good and I know he's an absolute
machine but if you watch his fight the first minute he's twitchy dead explosive dead
movie but towards the end of the round he's laboured and he's slow and he's flat-footed
and it's going to play into my hands as you say he loves to entertain the card and I know we all
know his game plan he's going to come out and throw over on right left off and right and the
body left off he's going to try and copy what Jared Gordon done but it's not going to work for
him you know we've got a perfect game plan and it's going to get implemented on him I can
seriously seen myself knocking him out on the feet.
There, never margaret on the floor.
What's the excitement level to fight here in Miami?
This is a good.
Dude, it's great.
The fights here are great.
I've never been to Miami before, and it's a great city.
Yeah, we've been here since Thursday night and fully enjoyed all of it.
Just can't wait to be able to eat a Cuban sandwich once I be Michael Chandler.
That shit's good, Patty.
I know how you get big after the fight.
Cuban sandwiches?
Bro, like, that's part of the reason I come to Miami.
Every year they're like, yo, we're going back to Miami.
I'm like, Cuban sandwich, Cuban food.
The shit is fantastic.
The Mexican food year looks delightful as well, to be honest.
It's so good, dude.
It's so good.
It's actually perfect.
Patty, last one for you.
Chale Sondon and I were talking on our show the other day for ESPN, and I said,
and I pose this question because he's a massive Patty Pimbley guy.
Like, he's your guy.
He's rooting for you and pushing you to a championship as much as anyone I've seen.
I said, is there a world where Patty Pimbley gets a title fight now?
Because you beat Michael Chandler, Mahathev has beaten just about everybody in the top five already.
Armand, they're not giving the title fight because he pulled out of that fight the night before.
So he essentially has to fight again.
Is there a world where you get a title fight off of this?
And if not, I know you and Armand have some history.
Would that be the guy that you'd want to fight in Abu Dhabi?
It'd be amazing if I got the Islam fight off finishing Chandler, but I don't see it personally.
You know what I mean?
As you say, he lost his last fight.
to Charles, he's lost to Portiae, Justin.
And people keep thinking that, like, Justin might get the title of shot.
So, personally, I don't see me fighting Islam next.
I'd love to, I mean.
I'd jump at that opportunity with both hands.
But yeah, Armand's a little bitch-ass.
Why don't you, like, Armour so bad, man?
Because he's a little posh, but he's had everything handed to,
you know what I mean?
He's got about 40 cars or something, no I mean.
40 cars?
Yeah, something stupid like that, or, like, million-dollar cars, laddies.
You're a liar, Patty.
Platter, he's not seen his Instagram.
No, he's rich.
Yeah.
Armand's a rich kid?
Yeah, he's a rich kid.
I had no idea.
He's a multi-millionaire,
and he's got a big crazy business.
He's a multi-millionaire.
He's never had to work half on in his life.
Everything's being passed hard to him on a silver platter.
This is what a hard-working,
working class lad looks like, Radia.
He's had everything handed to him.
He even got the title shots handed to him,
and then he shitters pants.
I'm what I mean?
Fluffy.
Yeah.
All the doctors told him there's nothing wrong with you.
fights and he sheds himself he got gifted
people say I got gifted the decision
over Jared Gordon he got gifted
the decision over Char's I didn't think he won that
fight he just sat on top of him
you don't win fights anymore by just doing this
I'm just got holding on
I'm not doing that I can't really judge nobody for that I used to do that
when I would get a little nervous
that was my path to victory if I needed it to
man thank you for checking with me guys
Patty the Baddy fights Michael Chandler this weekend
and if you beat him like
you say you will him and Armand's
Barukiana and Abu Dhabi, I'm in for it.
So make sure you guys watch UFC 314.
Patty's in the co-main event.

Yeah.
