Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the Ice Planet Hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith Rueling. of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 00:01:33 you get your podcasts. The volume. All right, guys, UFC 287 just wrapped. And the king is back on top as Israel Adesania knocks out Alex Paheda to once again become the middleweight champion in the world. It's unprecedented. We've never had this before. Izzy is now the first two-time UFC middleweight champion and he did it in resounding fashion. The fight did not start great form. Paheda was having a lot of success with those outside leg kicks again. And then he seemed to have hurt Eta Sanya early in the fight and was doing really well.
Starting point is 00:02:23 But ultimately, it was a mistake by Paheda that ultimately cost him. He hurts at Asana with a leg kick. Atassania's leg buckles. Fades to the side of the octagon. Paheda starts to rush and force. and Asanya lands a beautiful counter right hand over the top, hurts Alex, then a follow-up right hand, not only knocks him out. It literally shuts his lightouts completely. It was exactly what the last hour been there said he was going to do.
Starting point is 00:02:55 We spoke to him earlier in the week, and I asked Izzy, I said, Izzy, what do you have to do to get the monkey off of your back with this guy? What do you have to do in order to beat Alex Baheda for the first time? You are 0 and 3 against him. It's so difficult mentally. He said, Daniel, you would not believe the preparation I have done to myself up here and through these. And it showed he was different all week. He wasn't joking. He wasn't playing.
Starting point is 00:03:24 He was very short with his answers. He was all the way locked in the entire time. Tonight there was no fun walkout. There was no dancing. It was only Israel, Adasanya, coming to complete a job. He said it was its eight-mile moment. It's my eight-mile moment. It's my eight-mile moment.
Starting point is 00:03:43 I'm a dog. I'm ready. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. I don't know if I've ever seen Adesania more aggressive in his approach. We know he has long been considered one of the best counterstrikers in the UFC. And that is where he made his money. He did it against Paul O'Costa. He did it against Robert Whitaker.
Starting point is 00:04:03 It was the counterability. But tonight it was the aggressiveness that allowed for the last stylebender to not only win the championship back, but to do it in a fashion that not many would expect him to do it. He was forward, he was aggressive, and he said, this will not take long. Prophetic, this guy did exactly what he said he was going to do. Now, the success behavior had early in the fight tells us he can compete with Izzy. I don't know if him winning that one fight warrants him getting an immediate rematch. I don't know. I don't know what the UFC wants to do.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Izzy has fought the vast majority of the highest ranked middle weights. So if he does get another shot, no one can complain. It's going to be a rematch of some sort because Izzy was so dominant for so long. But I think Alex will grow from this. He will learn from this. He will learn that he cannot take the risk when he has somebody hurt as, recklessly with four-owned gloves. Eta Sanya has heard him many times,
Starting point is 00:05:07 but tonight he was able to complete the job and knock Alex Paheda out and take that championship back to Australia with city kickboxing. It was a fantastic night for Miami, Florida, man, and it was great. And honestly, people, the arena was full. There were so many people in here
Starting point is 00:05:29 and just solely in Israel, Etassania's corner. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:05:54 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
Starting point is 00:07:13 I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
Starting point is 00:07:31 waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me Not just because of crack I'm down to talk about crack all day But just so y'all know At this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack So I'm starting to see that there's a through line
Starting point is 00:07:45 We also have AIDS on the table right now So Thank you for finishing that sentence I don't think there's a more important year for black people Really? Yeah, for me it's one of the most important years For black people in American history Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app

Starting point is 00:09:03 Terms do apply, guys. Now let's get to the co-main event. Jorge Mazzvedal fought Gilbert Burns. Jorge Mazzvedal was a massive underdog, as you would expect. He's a guy that's about to turn 39, and Gilbert Burns is still fighting at the highest level of the sport. There were moments, but they were few and far in between. Gilbert Burns showed he's the better fighter. It was just evident from the beginning of the fight that Gilbert Burns is the guy that's pressure.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Gilbert Burns is the guy that still has title aspirations. Masbadol, to his credit, was gained. But he did not have much for Gilbert Burns in regards of the actual fight. Burns was able to control with the wrestling. Burns was able to land a lot of big shots with the hands. And Burns was able to dictate the pace. As the fight went longer, it became more and more clear that Gilbert Burns was going to get the job done. and that showed on the scorecards from the judges.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I think that we as a commentating team were in the nostalgia. We were in the environment a little bit, wanting to score for Game Red at times, and maybe we shouldn't have been scoring for Game Red. Two judges scored at 3027. One judge scored it 29, 28 for Gilbert Burns as he moves closer to a championship fight. Burns fought a beautiful fight.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Mazvedal was game and this was as good as it's going to get for a guy like Jorge Masvedal. He ends his career 35 and 17, right? Long career fought in Miami to start, ends his career in Miami where he is universally loved. So hats off the game read for a phenomenal career and for getting the opportunity to end your career in front of the people that love you the most. Rob Font and Adrian Yanez There was no way that this one wasn't going to be fun We knew it was going to be a boxing fight But many expected Adrian Yanez the young guy to get it done
Starting point is 00:11:06 That wasn't the case Rob Font came out in typical Rob Font fashion A throwback Rob Fon After a year away Popping the jab, popping the jab, popping the jab, popping the jab Popping the jab, popping the jab He ultimately finishes Adrian Yonaz with a beautiful little hybrid
Starting point is 00:11:21 Right Hook uppercut that put him out cold. We have seen so many big knockouts tonight that it was crazy. I'm looking at my sheet here. Kelvin Gassum got back in the wind column tonight in an absolute Bourne burner against Chris Curtis. It takes two to tango, and those guys absolutely dance all around Miami Arena.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Kevin Holland beats Santiago Ponsenibio. Big win for Kevin Holland. Showed a lot of patience. Got to finish late in the fight, never forced or rushed anything. Raul Rosas Jr. got humbled tonight by Christian Rodriguez. There is nothing more you can say about it. You had a young guy who had found a lot of success very early, and he started to drink the Kool-Aid, but he's got to learn from this.
Starting point is 00:12:09 He is 18 years old. He's got a long way to go in his career. This was very, very good for Raul Rosa's Jr. Waterson v. Panero was good. It was just a fantastic fight night from Miami-Dade County. I can't wait to UFC 288 Sehudo versus Al Jermaine Sterling. But it was a great night for Miami. And again, it was all about the last style bender.
Starting point is 00:12:36 I'm not going to worry about what's next because I want to live in the moment like Izzy said. His message, I want everybody to take chances to at one point in your career feel this is such a great strong message that the start. Tile Bender delivered. Another great message was his performance. What a night for Miami headline by an absolute star, Israel, the last, Style Bender, Edisanya. Guys, I love doing this. I've got the greatest job in the world. I appreciate you all for the love and support.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Until next time, like, subscribe, tell your friend to tell a friend that DEC has got a YouTube channel. So tap in. Peace.
