Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.

Guys, Diego Lopez fights Alexander Volcanowski for the vacant UFC Featherweight
championship this weekend.
Thanks for checking in with me, man.
I appreciate you stopping by.
How has this all been, Diego?
This has gone really, really fast.
Two years ago, you make a short notice.
his debut, you fight so competitively against Evloyev, right?
Evloyov, right?
Yes.
You fight so competitively against Avloyov.
Fast forward, and you're fighting for the world title.
Like, is this faster than you could have even imagined?
I think this is, I'm staying in UFC so fast.
Only two years, I'm still fight for the title, but I have it 32 fights, bro.
Two, 32 fights, I work too much.
I have 30 years in my career for professional fight.
I worked it so long time.
One day I know imagine this is I'm staying in UFC.
It's my ancestors in the division.
It's so fast I fight for the title.
But I know I 100% secret in myself.
I'm already in UFC.
I put big things in the division, no?
in the division, no.
Then we get to Noce UFC,
and you're fighting Brian Ortega,
this time at your actual weight.
And you beat him as bad as anyone has ever beaten Brian Ortega.
Did you know matchup-wise that that was a good fight for you?
Yeah, I know in this fight my mind is
go to the Elthagon,
put the great show,
prove it for everybody to stay ready for fight at the top, no?
This is my goal for this fight.
I know that Othegas is a great fight.
It's not too many people beat Othegas,
the way that way is the way I put in this fight.
Yeah, I know, I know it's a great fight, no.
Were you disappointed seeing him leave the weight class
when you could potentially have fought him for the belt?
No, I don't think so, because this guy,
in October, in the fight week, in the UFC,
Abu Dhabi, this guy said many times that you, is the guy, uh,
he told you this, no, told you in the, the interview, the media, yeah, the media.
Uh, yeah, for, I, I, I listed this, me, my team, stay prepared for, for,
but did he look big?
No.
Does he look big, like a big guy to go up to 135?
No, I don't think so.
So this is, it's short, it's short, no, it's small.
Yeah.
But it's, it's, it's, wide, like big.
It's wide.
Yeah, it's big. But, you know, I'm not disappointed for this.
I mean, my focus is in the title. The belt, yeah.
I landed the UFC. My focus is the title this time in 2020, May, 2023.
The champion is Volcanox. My focus is in the Volcanox, Vokonovsky.
Lost the title. My focus is the India Tupuria.
Yeah, I'm not disappointed because my focus is for the title, not the one opponent in space.
So it is Alexander Volkanowski, right?
And this is one of the greatest champions of all time, right?
He can do it all.
This guy's an amazing fighter.
But in his last few fights, he's one in three in his last four.
He got beat by Makachev, then he got finished by Makachev,
then he got finished by Tepore him.
Is Alexander Volcanowski the same guy?
Can he compete with you on Saturday night?
Maybe now is the guy that one in the west.
Maybe the guy is the human, is different now.
maybe take it take take you take your time for for west is the ovens for for your life too
maybe now is it's different for the fight for tura no i think it's the guy fight it so fast after
after the koreole yeah but bro i mean i hope the best version of the vogue i work too much
for this fight i hope for the best the best version of the octagon uh this is my goal no it's my goal for
I beat Vogue is the best situation.
Experience is a very key component to this fight.
Volcanowski has fought 10 straight title fights, main events, five rounds.
You have none.
No main events, no five-round fights.
How have you prepared yourself for that,
knowing that if this fight goes long,
you're in there with a guy that has essentially made a career of being in those moments?
I know Volcanox is a lot of experience in UFC.
Fight too much, too much in the five rounds.
But I prepared myself for the best.
I prepared for one, two, three, four, five rounds is necessary for this fight.
But I go to finish this fight.
I know training for the fight to make the decision.
I train for the finish the fight.
I think it's nothing.
I'm planning for fighting, every fight for five rides, right?
Look at my record is 20, 25, 26 win, 22, 20, 20, finish.
This is my goal, my goal is finished this fight.
You're right on the verge of it, man.
You have any orange Oklahoma State?
You went training, he went training in Stillwater.
How did you like it down there?
It's amazing, it's amazing.
It's amazing.
It's amazing.
It's amazing, it's amazing, it's that the people in Oklahoma is so nice.
nice people, they train it, this guy in the room too.
Yeah, I'm so happy with my time in Oklahoma.
And David's coming tomorrow.
The coach is coming to watch a fight, yeah?
Yeah, David is coming tomorrow.
Yeah, I have no idea, but my manager is a good friend for David.
He said me yesterday.
David is coming in Tuesday.
You're okay?
Yeah, I'm so happy because David is now a good friend too.
Good friend, great coach.
You're a great fighter.
Guys, Diego Lopez, Chats.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
A pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say,
Hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.

Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.
I'm Timbo.
Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines.
We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions,
the stuff nobody gets to hear.
The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real.
From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down,
give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered.
Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect.
We were God's chosen kingdom on earth.
He felt destined for greatness.
So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back.
Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president.
of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've
ever come across. When Jacob met Levin this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings
from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation
in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan,
you're ruining my life.

Thanks for checking in with me.
Guys, we're here with Tatiana Suarez as she challenges for the UFC Strawweed.
Yes.
See, I got it right.
Let's go.
She just told me I always think she was at 125.
I've said that probably 10 times.
Yeah.
It's so embarrassing that this is my job.
And then on tweet, I'm like, that was at one.
That was at straw weight.
You're like, oh, my bad.
No, because you're like in shape.
You look good.
So we're sitting here now for the first time,
but it feels like this should have happened a long time ago.
And many people expected you to be in this position a long time ago.
I know it was a tough journey to get here.
Speak a little bit about that and like the relief that you feel right now that you're actually here.
Yeah, I mean, it feels amazing, you know.
Like I know a lot of people were worried because of all the injuries and stuff,
like how my camp would go.
But I was very, very smart.
I made sure that I had a great spark.
partners and great partners in general, just making sure that, you know, I make it to the,
to the fight.
Because, you know, for me, it's like everybody that knows me believes I'm the best in the
world and they see how great I am.
So they're just like, you just need to get to the fight.
You need so here I am.
I'm super excited.
It's fight week and I'm ready to go do my thing.
When you wrap your mind around this, right?
Because even your wrestling career was cut a little short, right?
Like you were third in the world, which is an amazing accomplishment.
Kazian is a great wrestler.
Young when you were.
Yeah.
I mean, I won my first.
first medal at 17 years old.
17 years old.
Yeah, won your first World Medal.
So when dealing with those types of issues over the course of two careers, right?
Because it was a wrestling career and then a fighting career.
Yeah.
Are there times where you're kind of like worried, like you can't let the mind get a
hold of you?
Like, God, I don't want to ruin this.
So I understand training is smart, but still getting the work that you need to make
sure you're prepared when you get it.
How do you deal with those demons of all the things that have happened?
in the past.
I'm smart about it,
but I still work very hard.
Yeah.
So it's not like deterring me
from getting my work in
because I do lots of live.
I mean, like, you know,
I know a lot of people like,
they're like,
oh, you know,
maybe you can drill more or this and that.
And I do drill,
but I also go live a lot,
like a lot.
And I'm usually the last one to leave
when it comes to any type of life.
Like we start at the same time
and I leave way after everybody else.
I mean, I do mad rounds.
I love to grapple.
I love to spar.
I love all.
I love all of it.
Like, I'm a warhorse.
Yeah, you are.
It's the wrestling.
It's the wrestler in you, right?
People always ask me, like, how do you get through the challenges?
I'm like, man, I've wrestled since I was three years old.
That, like, it teaches you, it gives you a different mindset than anything.
Like, once I start rolling and, like, rolling around and doing all the wrestling drills,
like, my mentality completely changes.
And, like, you know, you know what I'm talking about.
Those good wrestling warmups that really get you go with.
It's the best.
Well, you can blow out that first one before you actually have to do something.
Yeah.
It's the best.
Yeah.
Yeah, every time.
So you come back after a long time away, you get an impressive victory.
When did you hear you were getting the championship opportunity?
And was it music to your ears?
Like, oh, finally, man.
Yeah, absolutely.
Because, you know, I was trying, I was calling for the fight like earlier because I was
healthy.
And so I was thinking maybe I could fight at the sphere.
That didn't end up happening, you know.
So then they were like, oh, well, you know, she's busy, this and that.
And so then I was like, okay, then, you know, they tried to do the vet.
DeVerna fight and then they're like, oh, scratch that fight, you know, and then said,
now we're here.
And, I mean, man, it was, it was awesome just because I felt like, you know, I deserve that
title shot, you know, so, I mean, I'm number one in the world.
I'm undefeated.
So she's already beat everybody else at the top of the division.
So why not fight me?
When you were on the sideline and you're watching the division and Rose is one of the best
and Lee is one of the best, right?
And the belt's kind of going around.
Even Carla got it.
Carla got the belt.
And then remember Carla got the belt again?
That was the worst fight of all time.
Don't do that.
Katiana.
I love Carla.
I don't want to see that.
He fainted more.
Dude, can you believe?
No, no.
Seriously.
Like, seriously.
I remember sitting there with Rogan.
And we were talking about it, me him and Johnny.
We were like, well, they got to judge something.
They have to judge something.
Right?
And it's like, judge who.
I don't know if I should go fight.
That was a crave.
Don't watch that fight.
especially if you're trying to get ready for something.
If you're trying to prepare to fight,
Waley, don't watch that.
And I love Carla.
I was very sad when she retired,
but that was just the worst fight in history.
That was worse than Francis and Ghana with Derek Lewis,
and that was trapped.
But when you watch the division
and you feel, like, in yourself,
and so many, like, I mean,
so many people in the position that I sit in now,
Ta-Tiana's the best.
Natia is going to be a champ.
She's undefeated.
She did, she did, she's this.
Was that hard?
To be watching that from the sideline, just thinking in your mind that you were the best fighter in that division?
Yeah, I mean, it is hard.
But, again, like, for me, I'm just like, I like, people are like, man, look what you did to the champion, you know, that you're so lucky that you're out.
And I'm like, yeah, yeah, you know, I understand.
And it's like, but I'm not going to let that, like, discourage me or nothing like, yeah.
I'm just going to do what I have to do and, like, take care of business.
Like, I know for me, people were like, well, I don't understand how she got this.
like she doesn't deserve it this and that and i'm like you know they think like because everybody
was working and i'm like i was working too like you think that just because i was injured i was like
yeah i mean i showed up every single day and my it was harder for me because i think i have it
harder than them because not only am i sideline but like i don't have a they didn't i decided
to do um like rehab in my neck instead of like get surgery so with a with the rehab you don't know when
you're going to be better you just have to trust that you're
gonna get better. And with surgery, they're like, oh, six months, you're gonna be ready, you know?
Like, I didn't have that. I just pressed it. I showed up every single day. I did all the
exercises I had to do. I did everything that I needed to do to get back. And then I hurt my knee.
So then I had to do it again. And I was like, I couldn't even believe that it was even happening.
Because I'd done so much work. And I was like, man, I thought that, you know, it's like when
you worked that hard to come back to something and then it's almost there. And then you just,
well, wait, no. Just kidding right out. Just kidding. We gotta do it again.
Yeah, you're like, what?
But that strengthens you hear, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And strengthens of mind, right?
To go through, because there's some dark days when shit is going sideways.
I've had that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Some dark days when things are going sideways.
Ultimately, Wei separates herself from the division, right?
She has proven now that she, at least over the last year and a half, two years is the best straw weight in the world.
When you look at her, what do you see in Zhang Wei that makes her so special?
I think for her, you know, she has a strong work ethic just like myself.
You know, she's really, really, like she works hard, I can tell, you know.
And, you know, she has a good gas tank.
You know, she's a very well-runnered fighter, you know.
But for me, I'm a finisher.
Yes.
So I'm going to go out there and I'm a finisher.
So when I talk to people, I talk to my friend Chelson and all of, they wonder,
what about the championship rounds?
Yeah.
How does Tatiana handle the championship rounds?
Because there was one fight where you seem to tire in the third against Nina.
Amanda's wife.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. How do you handle round
four and five whenever we really haven't
seen you there? Yeah. Especially with someone
like Wei Lee, who has that championship level
experience and those late
rounds in her
back pocket to rely on when you
get there. Yeah. No, actually
in the need of fight, I didn't feel tired at all.
I just, I had a neck injury
so I felt like, I was just
to be honest with you, I was like the first
two rounds, I'm like, okay, I got it, I got it.
Then the third round, I'm like,
this is really hurting like you know I'm like it was really messy with my head and I was like
maybe I could just do footwork all around their cage or really yeah I literally you were thinking that
I was like just thinking like maybe I could just do footwork around or just kind of get by because
my neck was like really hurting so bad and I was like really just get through the last round you
already won the first two rounds I like it was like a competitor like you know when you're in wrestling
and you don't want to get taken down at the edge it was like that I literally sometimes would
look at the clop you grabbing the clit's it like
like cool man don't look at the clock too early though because like if you look at it and it's like
still two minutes and 45 seconds you're like god damn i'm like shit two more minutes of footwork
all right i got this you know but it just yeah i'm glad because i'm glad to hear that because
when we were watching it seemed like because she was finding a little bit of success it seemed like
you were uncomfortable in that like you're like panicking a little bit no i felt fine um no i just
you know i just kind of like was i should have just stayed engaged i should have just stayed engaged i
should have just stayed engaged and like that's but that's something that like I'll I'll learn I'll learn
from you know what I mean even like it's like I thought to myself oh you know I'm I'm I'm fine I could
just do footwork around here but I just should have stayed engaged and aggressive like I usually
am because that's when I fight my best you know your documentary was nice too yeah it was on HBO you know
it was on max I saw that yeah I appreciate that's a big deal that's a big deal for me though
I didn't want to add too like you know I do a lot of sparring rounds and stuff and like
I actually get better as the time goes off.
Okay.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I think that's something that's, like, a good thing for me.
I don't know if it's like I get, I shake the cobwebs out and then like the third, fourth, fifth round.
I'm like better.
It's strange.
I don't know.
So, like, in fact, like my coach was doing punch count.
And he's like, yeah, their last round was the most punches you've had.
And I'm like, damn, okay, that's good.
That's good to hear.
Because you know when you're in a defeated fighter and you're dominant, people try to poke holes.
Yeah, yeah.
Absolutely.
I mean, they even did it to Wei Lee, her lap, but because Jan had some success.
Like, she dropped her a couple times, like in the fight, you know, so I think, like, people were like, oh, man, you know, like, they even did it to her.
But it's not even like, sometimes it's not competitive, but because you're not used to seeing that person get challenged.
It feels like it's even bigger.
Absolutely.
You know, are you ready for what happens if you win this belt on Saturday?
Your life changes completely.
The spotlight grows.
Everything is just bigger and better.
Like, do you ever take a moment to sit back and think about, like, the responsibilities that's going to come with it, being the UFC champion?
But the good and the bad, because, like, a lot of champions, they open them.
The world opens up when you got the belt, and it's not always the best.
Yeah.
No, I mean, I think that, you know, I'm prepared for anything.
Maybe that's why my time wasn't four years ago, you know.
Maybe my time, because I wasn't ready then, and now I am ready.
This is my time.
I look forward to proving that I'm the best in the world and that, you know, it's going to be an amazing story.
And I just can't wait to share it with the world.
Yeah, it's going to be a tremendous fight.
Thank you.
I cannot wait to watch.
I agree.

Listen to Help from Hippocrite Wednesdays on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
