And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people. Starting point is 00:03:47 You feel like finally. Morab is saying you don't deserve yet, though. But you feel like finally. Okay, I have a question for you. Tell me. Let's talk about facts. Fax. Marlon Vera fought for the title after once win streak.
Starting point is 00:04:02 He beat Pedro Munoz. Do you know who is Pedro Munoz? I do know who he is. He beat Pedro Munoz and fought for the title. One, then he not cried. But I think Marab should have fought for the title then. Why he doesn't fight? Because Al-Giam and Stirling was his friend was champion, right?
Starting point is 00:04:18 He was... No, no, no, no, you're confused. Chito Vera beat and fought against John O'Malley. Exactly. I talk about it. I forget. T.J. Joshua fought for the title after one string. Very close fight with Cori San Hagen.
Starting point is 00:04:32 Yeah. He won that fight. After that, he fought for the title with Al Jemine Stirling, right? Yeah. But why he's don't say T.J. Deloschon not deserve. Do you hear this? He didn't say that. No, he don't say nothing.
Starting point is 00:04:46 He was happy for Algeman Sterling because he fought for the title, right? For that moment, he was good win streak. Maybe six, maybe eight. I don't know, exactly. Morab have like long win streak. Yes, why he doesn't? Because his teammate. And why he cried now.
Starting point is 00:05:03 If your teammate was champion, that's why you have too long win streak. And you fought for the time. title after that he lose, you take chance. Why everybody have to fight for the title after 10 wins? Why? Al Jemistanik fought for the title after five. Five. Yep.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Peter Mellian after six. T.J. D. DeLio show after one. Marlon Vera after one. And you after? Five. Brother. Six. Six.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Six. I deserve it not because of, okay, six fight in the UFC, right? No, too, one round. What do you mean that was one round? Even one round, I'm not losing UFC. Not losing. You haven't lost the round. Even one. I beat everybody, I beat everyone, like every round, I, you know, I won.
Starting point is 00:05:54 So this was expected. This was like, this was expected, like this title opportunities expected. Father, he just can't talk like he no deserve, he no deserve, but everybody knows. He won't fight with me. because of he he won't lose. Everybody know it. Yeah. It's hard.
Starting point is 00:06:13 When you look at Marab, the competitor, like, what do you see? I mean, it's a guy that pushes a great, great cardio, great pace, works hard. Brother, I have, why everybody talk about his cardio if I never tired in my fights? Did you see anything like that? No, you didn't get tired, but he fatigues people. It's a great weapon. We're going to see who's better. You've improved the wrestling.
Starting point is 00:06:37 When you first came, you weren't the great. this wrestler. You've gotten a lot better. Brother, for him not better is enough. What do you mean, not better? Like we said, I might have not better. In the beginning, you weren't, you got better. You weren't the best. Those other guys,
Starting point is 00:06:52 Islam, Kabib, Islamammedov, those got a better wrestlers, right? You better striker. But now these striking's improved. I just came from Muay Thai. That's why maybe I was very young and immature in the grappling. Wrestling, it was not too bad.
Starting point is 00:07:08 immature, I was like zero in grappling. I will argue with you. And, and, but right now, brother, I think, al-hann-a-I'm one of the best. You are? Like a fighter, brother, I think I'm the one of the best because I can do
Starting point is 00:07:26 anything. Uh-huh. And you know it. Yeah. What did you learn in that last five of Corey Sanhagen? A very tough guy. Go 25 minutes. When the fight, five rounds to zero, even after Corey said he was much better than I thought. What did you learn about yourself in that fight against Corey Sanhiggins? Were you satisfied with the performance? It was good performance and I learned a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:53 First of all, I fought first time in UFC five rounds, you know, and I'm even not tired. I feel it very good. Even last fifth round, it was best, I think, best match. Yeah. Yeah. And I understand my boxing skills, striking skills, high level, you know. And I took from this fight confidence, you know, and I'm learning a lot.
Starting point is 00:08:22 And I can't fight with anybody, you know. Not like this mirab, anybody, I don't care, like, you know. When even when I, I sometimes when I go to some show, UFC show, and I'm sitting there Anyway, I'm thinking, can I go right now to fight with anybody in the cage? I asked to myself and I think, yes, anybody, I will fight. I will control this game in the cage. I can do anything and I'm ready. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:50 My mind is like that. My mind is like always, I'm ready. I'm ready and all experience. And you see your experience, look, cane, cover experience. Our, my team, like Habib Islam, like I took. took from you guys, everything. You know. When you were at the sphere and you're sitting there
Starting point is 00:09:14 and Rob wins the belt and they start asking him and they show you on the screen, or you just thinking inside like, oh my goodness, finally I'm gonna get this championship opportunity and then there were some hiccups in terms of getting the fight done. Were you like, what was the emotions, right? Like the highs and the lows to getting the fight done? It was a moment where I'm awaiting, you know, I knew it.
Starting point is 00:09:39 They're going to tell him I'm the next challenger. And of course it's making more motivate, you know, it's giving it to me very good energy. And the reason why I'm here, you see. All life, all like, you know, many years, many years, many years, many sacrifices, many, many, many, many training. A lot of sweet what I keep in the gym, you know. When you were watching him beat Sean O'Malley, were you impressed? No, I'm awaiting. Even before there's fight, I told everybody it's going to be...
Starting point is 00:10:18 You thought Mara was going to win? I told Mirab O'Malley have to knock him out for win. If you will not, it's going to be a hard time for him because you're not a wrestling skills. Brother, like, your son came from a defense for this wrestling. Even your son. It was too easy, simple. The same way, the shots that he took in me. How will I take him down? Take leg after him. He fall.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Fall like a tree, you know, everywhere, you know. And he's easy fight. Who's easy fight? Who's easy fight? Omali. Yes, he's easy fight brother, like in my division. Most easy fight, like I don't know who can be easy than him. But this guy was the champion, Omar.
Starting point is 00:11:01 I was the champion, Omar. He was a champion, like, I don't know how much Mr. Nick to ghost his fight. Everybody thinks he will smash them and, but brother, Mirab showed to everyone level, level, level, level. Marab is actually a guy that usually respects, but with you, it seems to be like, he's very, like, upset with you. you. Where did this start? Even at the press conference last time, you guys were yelling at each other in the back of the arena. I mean, where did this start? Like, why is it like that? Let's be honest, let's be true. He's not person who always respect. With Petrian, he talked a lot
Starting point is 00:11:53 of shit about Russians, about Russia. He talked a lot of shit about Fyterian personality, personal. And it's not true. Maybe he's respectful with someone who maybe he's scared. You think he gets disrespectful when he feels a threat? Like if you think that, because Peoria Yan, you said, and now you. You know, even with me, he's disrespectful. Yeah, he's very yell at you and mad at you. And, you know, maybe he wants to hide,
Starting point is 00:12:25 he wants to make this fight more like. Personal. Personal. and sell paper view, maybe for this, like you will maybe take this money from Paperview. I don't know exactly, but this...
Starting point is 00:12:39 Does it annoy you? Let's talk about, right? When you sit with personal or with someone, like, not have security, no one, just you and him. It's different. Yes, for sure. Everybody can talk with the camera
Starting point is 00:12:53 with security, took bad things, like, act like he's like enemy, he's like, like someone like... Gangster. Even like, even like guy, if it's gonna be looking like gangster, like, you know. My uncle teach me, he said to me one time...
Starting point is 00:13:12 This guy, I'll leave think he's a gangster. No, man. He's the best manager, brother. He is a great manager. Brother, listen to me. Gangsters always hide. He can't walk, brother, here. Brother, they have police looking.
Starting point is 00:13:29 for right hey let's go please please because this guy at least great go and finish your uncle taught you touched he's touched me like he said to me if someone has problem with you person he coming to your home no your door to tell you can you come i have question for you why you do like that when you and him alone nobody will break right it's a gangster you know but when there's a lot of security, where they were there, I'm going to do something, you know. Two different situation. I was in Las Vegas one month, right? Six weeks like I was in.
Starting point is 00:14:13 But I saw, I saw one time he was at the PI and he got locked out because you were in there. Las Vegas finished in the PI? What? Okay, Las Vegas have place only in PI? No, I get it, but like he couldn't go inside because I think they were, they were. I think they were working actively to keep you guys separated. They take care about, not about me. They take care about him.
Starting point is 00:14:37 When they tell him, go home, don't come to care. Really? Brother, you think he can do something with me? I mean, you guys are going to find out on Saturday night? We're going to see. It's going to happen. How do you... No, I'm talking about that.
Starting point is 00:14:50 If you have personal something... Oh, so like in public, anywhere. Yes, yes. Come to me. Right? Come to me, tell me everything what you want. personal like a man, right? Gangster style.
Starting point is 00:15:03 But if you want to promote fight, do like that. You think this is a show. It's a brother. Brother, if you have something personal with someone, you have to go to him without security, camera, and talk with him, right? It makes sense. Yeah, for sure. That's what I do always.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Umar, you become the champion this weekend. I remember you were a young kid when you came to the gym the first time and you're ready to learn bright eyes. And Abib said, I think this kid will be champion. What will it mean to you to become the world champion on Saturday if you can beat Rob Dwalashvili? Subhanalha. It's going to be, brother, you know,

You was always in the gym. my like who I look at for like examples on the world with belts you know and so my picture gonna be close to your yeah and a lot of things about that a lot of things and for us like a teammates it's gonna be one more champion in a from aka one more champion from Dagestan it's gonna be amazing but it's gonna be awesome yeah and Islam's fighting Tagir's fighting.
Starting point is 00:16:34 You guys are making big money. Islam told me that once him and I fought, he knocked out Glacentibaba, one punch. I did ground and pound to finish my fight, but they gave me the bonus. He said, I should have went and said, you take the bonus because you needed more.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Can I ask if you take the bonus? Will you bring it back to Tagir? Will you give Tagir the $50,000 bonus? Because Islam said he has to, because Tagir is the one. that is going to not make it as much money. Yes. You give the money to Tiger?
Starting point is 00:17:05 If they will give me, if Islam said this, and if it's going to be happening like that, if they will give me bonus, I can't. If you both knockout, knockout, knock out, and they give you bonus, it belongs to Tiger. Yes. Okay? Of course.
Starting point is 00:17:22 Hey, brother, you know the shoes you bought me? Remember the first time you ever make bonus? You bought me those shoes? Yes. These are my favorite shoes. I wear them all the time. Nice. Guys.
