Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes. Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule. of two. Listen to Stuff to Bole Your Mind on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:36 The volume. You always look big, but you look bigger in person. You know what's funny? Everybody always has been on TV, and I think, you know, there's an embellishment of how I am until they see me in person. It's like, holy shit. Yeah, because you're not skinny. True.
Starting point is 00:02:05 That big and not skinny. Yes. of like 416 pounds and jacks. You know what's crazy? The other day you got on that scale at the weighings and I saw them kind of playing with the scale. But the scale like maxes out at 400 pounds, so that shit kicked up to the top.
Starting point is 00:02:24 It didn't move. You were overweight for what the scale could actually weigh. That's very true. Dude, I was looking at the scale. I wanted to see if you actually, like if they could measure your weight and it was just stuck at the top. You must have stepped on the electric scale
Starting point is 00:02:38 back or something. I don't know how you got 1416, but I know you're absolutely over 400. That's massive. Yes, sir. Basketball player, right? Graduated college, four years. How was that experience for you? You was an amazing experience. I learned a lot playing basketball. You know, basketball just, was just something that I happen to do because that got very tall, being in that year, and that's fell in love with it. Yeah. You know, when you came on the scene, I would watch, And I was like, wow, this guy has something. But you've been lucky enough to work with two really big names.
Starting point is 00:03:11 You had AJ Styles on your side initially. Now you're an MVP. Yes. How important were those guys to your development? And honestly, in the AJ Styles storyline, it felt like there was more that could have been done there. Do you feel like there's more left to do with AJ when he comes back? And also, how good has it been to be with those types of stars and veterans when you're trying to get your feet wet in the WWBA main roster? First of all, I cannot state how great both those individuals are, both AJ and MVP.
Starting point is 00:03:42 You know, when I first got called to me, Ross, I get paired with AJ. He literally took him under his wing and he taught me a lot, like, a lot because I was still very, very green. And he literally showed me the ropes and guided me through this crazy business of ours. And then, you know, I thought there could have been more. that we could have done together, but it's just the circumstances did not align that way. And hopefully in the future, I really want to run it back because I think there's the story there to be told. And as far as everything goes, man, he's just been the next step in my career and the
Starting point is 00:04:22 next of my career. And he is just continuing to guide me and teach him about the business and how to be a monster and how to be the man that owns the room. And, you know, he's always got, he's been guiding me, teaching me about a lot of things, not just wrestling, but about life itself. So I'm extremely grateful to privilege to have such iconic figures in my life.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Omas, you are the first Nigerian-born athlete to be signed by the WWE. That's a massive honor, right? It is a massive honor. It has to mean a ton to you. It means a lot to me. It means, you know, that means kids in Nigeria. and kids in Africa watching me and looking at me as an inspiration.
Starting point is 00:05:06 You know, I was, I work for the UFC. I don't know if you're talking. You know, that's kind of what I do. I knew what's coming. I knew what's coming. And we had like this explosion of African athletes that became champions. Camaro Usman, Israel, Edassan, Francis and Ghanu. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:24 You see the impact. To the point that Dana White said, we need to do UFC Africa. Do you feel like you could be the first of many athletes to come into the WWE? And I know that you're taking an interest in trying to make an impact on the effects that you have had in that region of the world to try to gain popularity to the WWE. I mean, we already said, we already kind of started on that part, on that part. Last year, we went to Nigeria to go, you know, set up aggravation for, you know, recruit. recruitment of talent in that talent pool, not just for Nigeria, but for the whole of Africa.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And on top of that, it was my first time going back home in 14 years. So I kind of got like the hero's welcome. It was an amazing experience. And I'm looking forward to the talent that we can bring from Nigeria here because, you know, I just feel like Africa as a whole, you know, has such an immense pool of talent
Starting point is 00:06:20 that is just attacked. Yeah, for sure. Because look at those guys. Like I said, those guys will, they ruled the world. Yeah, they rule the world. They ruled the world. And I can imagine the world where you see it happening in the WWE.
Starting point is 00:06:34 But in the UFC, you walk into the room, you're never afraid of anyone. You're seven foot five inches tall. Have you ever walked into a room and goes, man, besides today, where you walked in with me and go, all right, this made me one area in which, you know, I may not be the baddest man in the room. But no, I'm just saying, have you ever walked to the room and goes, wow, I'm the biggest, I'm the baddest, is that every room you walk into? Pretty much, pretty much. It's been that way since all 15 years old. Yeah, how tall were you at 15 years old? I was about 7 foot 611 7 611 at 15 years old pretty much yeah. Oh my God if I saw you in the hallway I'd go in the opposite direction every single day at school. I'll do the same you say you're not afraid though another man that's never afraid is Brock Lesner you brought Lesnar got a tango this weekend
Starting point is 00:07:25 you sure do how much are you looking forward to dealing with the beast because Brock Lesnar and I will say this from the UFC we would say Brock Lesnar is not from this world in the W.W.E. I heard Pat McAfee said that if the aliens came down to this earth and they wanted to take over we'd send Brock Lesnar because we most people feel Brock Lesnar is the baddest man on the planet. How excited are you to tangle with that guy? Beyond excited. I mean if it's the baddest man of the planet you know, I gotta go show that, you know, I'm the baddest on the planet too. You know, it is just him, you know?
Starting point is 00:08:03 I'm like, I am 7 foot 4, 416 pounds, and when the Hanans come, they got to see me. You know what's crazy? Like, he's always the biggest. Him and I had a thing where he came into the octagon and he pushed me. And he, like, dwarfs me. But for the first time I've ever seen somebody look just bigger than Brock Lesnar. Everyone was the first time he ever saw seeing Brock Lesnar look tiny. He's bigger?
Starting point is 00:08:28 No, no, he's not big. I'm bigger than him. Okay. I was the first person to ever make Brock Lesnar look like a little child. Yeah, you did. Exactly. You make him look small. But tomorrow night, you guys got to fight. You got to fight.
Starting point is 00:08:40 What's the approach to fighting a guy like Brock Leszner. What if Brock Leszner tries to put you on his shoulders with the F5? How? It's impossible, right? Pretty much impossible. He has to pick me up. Like, if I let him pick me up. He can't get you.
Starting point is 00:08:55 No. How? Oh, Moss. You and Brock Lesnar had a pre-fight brawl. We did. Two million views on that clip. How excited are you about your guys is rivalry having that type of impact? Because at the end of the day, being next to a guy at the star level of Brock Lesnar, it elevates you. How important is this to your career?
Starting point is 00:09:20 And is it unexpected? I don't think it was unexpected. I think I've been grew for this moment. and I've, you know, been waiting for this moment for most of my career because, you know, I had in mind that there's a couple of guys that before the time was up, I needed to face him, and he's one of those guys on that list. So tomorrow, I get a check-off, the checklist of the names of people who I really wanted to face it. He happens to be one of them.
Starting point is 00:09:44 And just to be in that, maybe him tomorrow, first of all this, you know, I'm extremely grateful for that opportunity. And second of all, I'm happy to be the guy that gets to whoop his ass. Why you got to push him in the face like that? You push Brock in the face and he went over the top rope. I've never seen anybody manhandle Brock. Look at the size of your hands, man. I mean, there has to be somebody to do it, right? All this years, I can attest this right?
Starting point is 00:10:08 This whole year he's pretty much dominated everybody he's been in the ring with. It's about that time somebody comes and makes him a child, all right? Omas, outside of the literal size, are you the biggest challenge in Brock Lesnar's career? Absolutely. I have the biggest challenge because not only am I at large, I'm pretty athletic. I play basketball for 13 years of my life. So I'm pretty quick. I'm pretty fast. So everything he thinks is going to hit me with, I'm ready for it. Hey, Omaz, you're your fan base. They call themselves the Omos Sapiens. Shout out to the Omos Sapiens!
Starting point is 00:10:44 What do you think of that, man? It's got to be a, you know, playing college sports is one thing. But to have a section of people who've given themselves a nickname, that has to mean something to you, bro. Like, as a kid from Nigeria. Man, it's been pretty cool to watch it involved. It's pretty much become its own thing. And I didn't even know where I came from. I cannot take credit for creating that. I just pretty much seen a flock of individuals who truly admire what I do and decided to call themselves the home of Sapiens, which is very catchy, by the way.
Starting point is 00:11:16 And I say, you know what? Since they embrace me, I'm going to embrace them. them. So that's how to happen. That's beautiful. Oh, Maas, do you take a, do you take note of everything going on with the product? You watch Logan Paul? Oh, I watch every part. I watch Monday, Night Raw. I watch NXT. I watch Friday and Friday and I watch. I watch everything that everybody's doing because at the end of the day, I want to be at the top of my game, ready for wherever they threw at me. What do you think of Paul as a wrestler?
Starting point is 00:11:40 Come again? Logan Paul. What do you think of Logan Paul? I mean, it seems like he, he, it seems like impossible or unfair that he's like that, that, good that quickly. You know, to give Paul his credit, right? You know, Paul is, uh, Logan Paul is one of those guys that he's just a natural athlete. Right? No matter what sport you put it into, he's going to thrive. And I'm not surprised at the fact that he's done to walk in WW because he's just a natural athlete. Yeah, he's a fantastic athlete. He is. There's going to be 60,000 people in there tomorrow. Yes, sir. Have you allowed for yourself to, like, just close your eyes and go, man, I've come a long way. I'm wrestling.
Starting point is 00:12:19 at WrestleMania against Brock Lesnar, like, have you allowed yourself a moment to really just kind of take it in? To be honest, that movie's not gonna come after I finished whooping, Brockett's his ass tomorrow. So you locked in? I'm locked in, so I'm gonna take a deep breath
Starting point is 00:12:33 after I'm done whooping his ass. I'm like, yes, I'm the guy that finally conquered. The giant that conquered the beast. The giant that conquered the beast. Okay, I got another question for you. That I was kind of gonna wrap. But like, how much material do they use to make your suits?
Starting point is 00:12:48 They look fly, though. I got to be honest. They got to fly, you know. You know, my sister comes straight from the motherland, you know, they got to start off cattle. Yeah, it's nice. A whole bunch of like 13,000 sheeps to make one suit, you know. But I'm an shooly good for that I have a group of tailors back home that I woke on my suits and make sure I'm fly on TV. Make sure you fly, huh? Yes, sir. Was there any, like, of your background that went into the outfit, like the ring attire?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Try to pay homage to anything is your story behind? Yes. The colors, the design. I wanted something that spoke, that was very bigel and felt warrior-like. Then when you saw me and knew that this guy meant business. Yeah, mean business. Yes, sir. And I can't wait to watch you in Brock Lesnar fight.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I can't wait to watch Brock Lesnar fight. I think it's going to be a fantastic event. Oh, it's going to blow the roof off the place. Oh, that we are. That we are. Omas has been very good to watch your journey, watch you elevate. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends.
