And I would never root against our team. But I was just sitting there watching the game. And like every time I'm watching, I'm like, and putting myself right there. Like if I was right there, if I was right there, I could have stopped that. I'm going to guard you that like this. And it took me a few games to get out of my feelings.

I really used the group play to be in my feelings. By the time we hit the medal rounds, I was out of my feelings. Yeah, it was a team USA. I was settled into my role. I was settled into my role and I was like anybody, my sister was the only person to watch the game. But you watched me watch the game. Yeah.

I was number one. Yeah. Number one hype man, like going crazy. I'm coaching through the TV. Me. So my energy changed towards, I've been, man. my heart was in my stomach watching this game.

Oh, yeah, man, that was... T.A. Talk me through. Talk me through it because I know you had to probably, like, try and jump through the TV, probably text a player. That was at halftime. I was this close to putting Brian and Steph in the group chat. Like, bro.

Like, come on, man. Come on, man. Like, at halftime, it's down 11. I was this close to group texting now. Yeah. Like, yo, what's like, like, here we go. And we was turning the game then. But I was this close.

Yeah. No, you'd be locked in. The Olympics is different, bro. It's a different feel. But I was tweeting like a motherfucker. That was you. We got to pull up the tweets. I know what you was going on.

I was tweeting like, like I was coaching. Yeah. But, man. You got to coach him up. I was doing that when the walk. I was up at like one. and they was doing the walking shit. Oh, it's the walk.

What's the walk? The Olympic walk when they walk. Oh, the over the ceremony. Oh, man, I was that. Hey, yeah, race walking, bro, look. You know what I'm saying? I was chilling. I'm like, damn, this shit.

Man, they're out there. Whoa! You know what I mean? They're getting off. I'm doing the same thing. I'm finding myself 1.30 in the morning, cheering for, you know what I mean? I'm cheering for Ecuador, Spain, walking.

The Olympics got a different vibe, bro. And then I can imagine for you, because when it was here, last time, you was in your feelings, you should have been on the team, you just said you in the group, you're in group play, you know what I mean? So you're not there, but you mentally, you're prepared. You prepare for the call. Absolutely.

If they were to call you, bro. I was out. I was out of here. So the day they called Derek White, I was, they called me, I was out of here. I was gone. Hey, bro, did you, when you watching this Serbia game, did you think that you was going to get a text or call it? If they were to say, yo, Jay, can you make it?

That's how I would have teleported. That's how the energy be. No, God, damn. Be there. But my nerves been so bad all day. Because we couldn't lose this game because, man, although I didn't end up on this Olympic team, I remember vividly, winning in 2021

and like saying, yo, next step is to beat France and France. And somehow France, they put it, they beat Germany. I know how. Yeah. I know how they poured it out. Yeah, let's talk about that too. The matchups was good for them.

Yabusele, who was drafted by the Celtics, played like two, three years in the league, went back. They had incorporated him, to put him in the lineup. Yeah. Took Rudy Gobero out the lineup. Oh, that did. And last game he had 23 today.

He had 17. Okay. Well. And then they got this guy. I think his name is like Matthias or Matthias, Matthias, and Les Sort. And like they throwing the ball into him. Like, he getting to it. He can get to it.

Yeah. And they were just way more physical. And Wimby made some big plays, some big shots. But they took Rudy Gaubert out of the lineup. Yep. And they won. Again. So what are your thoughts on that?

So now going into the gold medal game, think about this. Going into the gold medal game, this is Rudy Gaubert All-Star for defensive player this year versus Joe L&B. If you're a friend's coach, do you have to take into account that this dude got to see those guys and he's familiar with those guys? Do you play him more or do you roll with what's been working? Well, out of respect, give him a chance. But if he ain't cutting it, you got to roll with what you got. You know what I mean?

Like, it's a gold medal game. You know what I'm? Like, this is a gold medal game. We've been winning. How many times the coach say, we've been winning this way? Why change it? Absolutely. Rudy Gobert got to figure out like and humble his self and say,

yo, if I want to go metal, I may have to sit this one out. Or if I want to go metal, when I do play, I got to do something. Maybe better for Rudy Gobert against centers he play against all the time. And then B, A, D, you know, B, you got a chance. You know what I'm saying? I think just to make up an 18. he is just like there's not a right for other players that compliment him being out there. And sometimes that's just the nature of the game.

Like you can be a great defensive player. You can be a great offensive player. But if you don't, if you don't compliment the other four players that they don't compliment shooting, it ain't no flow. And I think that's why, you know, you see the results. they can throw the ball inside. You can't throw the ball inside with Rudy Gaubert. Rudy Gaubert don't block two shots, three shots, four shots.

Like, you got to go block four or five shots to have an impact. Yeah. He got to get 12, 15 rebounds to have an impact. You know what I'm saying? And get like, you know, at his position for what they need to win because a lot of what he's called to do is Wembe could do it, but he play on the perimeter. So you gotta be physical.

You gotta be something that is reliable. Yeah. And so I'd rather rely on Homeboy to go give me 17, 15, at least, you know what I mean? Like, it's something I can go to. I mean, I feel sorry for Rudy Gobert. You know what I mean? Like, everybody pick on them instead.

You'd be picking on them. I don't pick on anyone. You don't. I just tell the truth. You tell the truth. You don't. We live in this day and age where I've been speaking about a fair with the new media, like where these people don't necessarily tell the truth,

in large part because it don't fit their narrative. For sure. But also because they just don't know how to see it. Yeah. And so for me, I just tell the truth. And listen, when you are a max-level player, a defense-level player, a defensive player, of year over and over and over again,

that comes with a certain responsibility. Right. And if you don't uphold that responsibility, ain't nobody watching this show. If I'm like, well, you know, wasn't Rudy Gaubert's fault. Like, no, if it was your fault, it was your father. It has to be.

If you got all these accolades, you go, I show up. Absolutely. Like the Kenbei Matumbo, he always showed up. He always blocked up. shots. You know, always file you. You know what I mean? Like, it wasn't never, not a

time where it was like, he wasn't that. You know what I mean? My problem with Gobert is, I don't really know. Like, is he really, is he, he's not intimidating at the rim. So I don't know how you can be defensive

clearly here. If you're not intimidated, like if you, people are not intimidated to go to the room. So that was just, you know, I just, you know, I just think that he has a lot of accolades. I think, you know, I think he's a good player, but you got to find the right for people to make him effective. And the way that France is made up and going into this USA game,

like, he got to find a way. And he got to humble himself. Sometimes, like, you know what I'm saying? The glove don't fit, man. No, I agree. And they've been playing much better basketball since they took, the proof is into put it. Yeah.

But what about USA, though? Like, what about this damn game? You know what I mean? So I was just about to ask you. So I was just about to ask you. So second half, the team was clearly better when we went talent. Like, in Team USA, we got our role players. I've been a role player on Team USA.

Like, and Derek White's in that category, Drew's in that category. But then sometimes, but then we also, what makes us so much better, than all these other teams, is that we got that and we got role players that are the greatest role players in the world. But then we got the greatest stars

in the world. And so I felt like earlier in that game, maybe like, I started texting Bob like, yo, we need to get like KD in with Steph and Brian. Because earlier in that game,

you could tell, like, we weren't about the out role player now. Yeah. And there's no knock to our role players, but that's what they, That's what they do. That's how they get you. That's how you get caught up.

When are we going to go with the dogs? Yeah. And I can speak from a role player perspective. Like, I always try to make it to where no matter what I need to be in the game, like, I got to be in the game because I'm going to do something, make something. But like, the reality is, in game four, the NBA finals, I had to come out. It's the first time it happened to me in my career where I was like, damn, it's winning time.

and it was better for me not to be in the game. That's the first time it happened to be in my career. But it happened to me. And I said all of that to say, as a role player, sometimes it just happened to you. And you could see it like it was there. Like, yo, it's time. Like, go to those guys.

And when we finally got there, we did. As a star player, a guy who was going to get 30, 25 a night. if you're the star on that team and you know you got other guys at what point if you're Brian, if you're Steph, you're going to Steve like, you know, we need Kay, we need book, like we need Joe, like we need these stars right now to star power us to that thing. What's that balance?

I mean, for a coach, you got to think like it's all energy, right? Because like if you start, you can start with your top dogs I'm going to rely on him he's going to rely on him it's almost like we too unselfish I think when the going get tough ain't no fucking superstars right so you're like Steph

LeBron you know KD they not they know that they have to they have to superstar at a high like the reason why they got a superstar at the high level and the reason why you are a superstar is because you're the most incredible role

role player and the most undefined role player at your position. You know what I mean? And so when you plan against Germany, you got to think those dudes are role players in the NBA. They are superstars for the country. So we coming out thinking like, oh, man, that's by Donovich. You know, we know what he do. But like, we ain't really seeing him with all the freedom in the world and all the confidence.

You know what I mean? and he's going and he's playing a lot harder than he would play in the NBA because he's playing defense. You know, he's boxing out, all the little things. And so for us, we got to match that with incredible talent. Yeah. Because if, you know, Jew holiday, White, they used to like being energy guys, right?

But if the energy don't meet, where we think these dudes are role players, but they superstars, you know, they superstars in NamUs. Absolutely. Right? We still role players. You know what I mean? Are like all-stars in our role in this confine on the team,

because, you know what I mean? It's like, they ain't got no abroad. Mm-hmm. So now you gotta figure out, oh shit, we down. Like when you see them dudes at the end of the game, celebrating and hugging each other, it's because they made that sacrifice. It wasn't casual.

Like, it ain't casual no more, dog. Like, what are we gonna do? And when you got five, you know, most talented players out there on the floor, once that, you know it is, once that momentum, because you know how to change the energy and, like, catch them. Once that momentum change,

all five of those dudes are playing selfish, unselfish, and they're not thinking about, oh, I'm relying on LeBron. Well, LeBron, like, I'm relying on Steph. It's like, nope, here I go, I'm not open, boom. That's the play. They plan to play. You know what I mean?

They plan. Oh, that's step. That's good. Yeah. Like, but before, it's like, oh, that's step. That's good. Let me run back. It's like, no, they go a shot.

If this shit come off, I got to get the re- You know, it's like that sense of urgency. When you got five superstars, they all going to be the best role player when they click it. And I think that's how they called them. No, I definitely turned into that because, like, when Joelle got going that, it came off a trail. Typical Joel played.

70, six. Trail, Hezzi, pool, bucket, and he rolled from there. Steph coming off, shooting, Brian getting downhill, KD coming off looking for the midi, he ain't got it, now I swing. That's definitely what it turned into, and that's what it needed to turn into. Because they get role player shots. For sure. Steph Curry don't never really get role player shots. You know what I mean? So he getting a role player shot or Embed walking into a swing, and that's everybody, you start watching. They just start. falling into like this perfect collaboration of a puzzle.

It's like, oh, we all know what we do. You know what I mean? But it's Steph had a shot. I think he moved it to LeBron. LeBron, look, penetrate, get the, get the end one, LeBron. He had a triple double today. Yes, he did. Yes, he did.

It's crazy, man. Like they all play the way we see them perform at a high level. And like this short little like 13, like, It just showed that greatness. For sure. And sometimes you got to level up because if I'm going to lose, I got to go lose with the dudes that they're going to talk about the most. For sure.

And then if you got, come on, you got, Katie, you're about to lose. Steph, you're about to lose. O'Brien, you're about to lose. Joe L. you about to lose. Book, you about to lose. You know, all other dudes, too. Not taking that away from nobody else. But, like, you put five of those dudes in, you about to lose.

and all the media on you you got to let them fight for their life you can't be remembered as that bro man that's so dope to watch man because during the Olympics when you go through these Olympics like for us we grow up we grow up wanting to win

playing the NBA winning NBA championship we don't necessarily grow up like yo I want to get an Olympic gold they grow up like I want to win euros I want to win Olympics and so

for them, but when you get in it, though, you then feel that? Yep. When you go through these runs every year, because, again, I said, we're so much better than players than these guys. It's like, it's just the reality. Every year you get that test, though. Like, every Olympic year, you get that one test, and when you get to the end of it, bro, like the bond that you have with the guys that you did it with is all built on that

one test. Yeah. And today was that test. That was that test for us. Like, today was that test where it's like, you see them hugging after the game. Like, that was the one that made you feel like, like, yo. That was finally they became a team. So all this shit that they, like, you know, they wasn't really tested or kind of tested or figuring it out.

They had an excuse. Like, there's no excuse. We're about to lose. Let's go get it. And then that's when that. Now you see them like, damn. Watch when they come out against France. They're about to beat the shit.

I don't know if they're going to sit me there. No, they would be terrified. So, and speaking of, we're about to beat them about 25. That's a foregone conclusion. Yeah. A couple episodes ago, I was talking about the dream team versus this team. And of course, after the game today,

everybody going to say, oh, they got tested and they should have lost, like, every team gets tested. It happens to everybody, so I'm not. But I still think this team is better than the dream team. Regardless of what happened today, what do you see for that? You know, like I grew up idolizing Jordan and magic

and that just that whole era playing the next generation of era and then just kind of missed out on these dudes but I like I admire these dudes in this generation because it's just they're more athletic more skilled more talented

shoot better right but if they were locked in the alley and they had to squab who was you which team are you picking if it was a with this fight, who are you picking?

Unfortunately, we're playing basketball. I know, but I'm just like taking that mentality because you have this super talent, right? There's, I mean, shit, you got talents of, you got godly talent. So when the gods start to, they have to fight. Physical skills, da-da-da-da-da, like all that shit is going to,

just like the Olympics, like someone's going to measure out, something's going to be better than the others. It's going to be mixed and match problems. Who want it? Well, here's the thing. Who wanted? All of those guys at certain point, KD at a certain point, Braun at certain points,

Steph at certain points, all of those guys in their careers has had to do that at different points. I think we get to this space of where like, and this goes into like everybody always speak about these terms in terms of the Brian. And Jordan debate is like, MJ was more of a killer.

This is that another. Oh, that's killers. But this is the thing, though, and we're going to say, Brian not. Brian is a killer. MJ, everybody, and again, we all grew up on to be like money. But it just bothered me when, like, all of these guys have had their successes at that level as well. MJ 1-6. MJ played 15 years.

Like, so there was nine years where he couldn't capture the, ah, to get it all the way done as well. So we all far short of the thing sometimes. but to say like, all them dudes have had that same killer at times to put it away as well. Yes. So now speaking about the talent, they jump higher, they run faster, the skill, and all that. When you say that, all these guys have also had to have that killer at different times as well. I'm going to go with the dream team based on chemistry. Based on chemistry, based on intellect, you know what I mean,

and based on understanding that if these are, relive, relive, what is this team called? 2024. Like,

can we give them a name or some of that? The fifth and a row. That's what this team is called. Five. Cinco. Okay, so with the Cinco, obviously they,

you know, the Serbia game made everyone, but they have a great, they have a good chemistry. They would be the dogs. The dream, team would be the underdogs.

Right? So imagine Michael Jordan walking into a game and LeBron is the guy and it's like you're not better than him. Or Larry Bird, you're not better than KD or whatnot. Or Magic, you're not better than Steph. Or Charles Barkley, you know, Patrick Ewing or, you know what I mean? You look at, they're going to play smarter, different and I think

collectively when you got a bunch of killers in the room you know what I mean everybody going to die but it's going to be some other ones standing still

and it's going to be some dudes run out the room you know what I'm saying and so when I look at the roster of killers and I look at the roster of killers on the Cinco team

somebody is going to run out the room or get you know what I mean my bopop socked up in the corner. You know, like, I'm not boom, boom, boom, boom, somebody getting socked up in the corner. Oh, he's done.

Let me, you know, now let me go, let's go, both sock him up. You know what I mean? So, yeah, you know, I'm looking at the size, like, the size factor in Dream Team 1 versus Dream Team Cinco. You got to get an advantage to Dream Team 1. How?

Because they bigger. Patrick, you're not better than Joel and B. He's bigger than Joel in me. Not really. Joel A. Bean is huge, man. I know, but He played, like, Joel and B. Ain't going, all right, go bang with Patrick Kuling. They're going to bang with David Robinson. AD.

You know what I mean? I'm talking about they getting the ball in the post. You know what I mean? David. David. Not saying AD ain't going to match up. Not AD ain't going to block it or, you know what I'm not saying AD weak. Because they got to come out, you know, like the whole thing is,

Ken Shaq playing this. You got to come out. They got to come out. the paint because of M. B. He made, you know, uh-uh. He did with a couple of tracies today. But if he miss, that energy, you know what I mean? That chemistry ain't properly alive.

If it was a fifth, we all would be drunk right now. I'm just saying, that's the if of the, that's my reason for picking Dream Team because I think that they have, they have more unified killer chemistry. and when I look at this Sinko team, they got all the killers in the world, right? But Jemond Green is sitting here texting everybody around basketball.

Because something wrong. Some wrong, bro. Something wrong. And it's not the players. It's the chemistry. No, I think the chemistry is great. You know what I mean? And we saw like, we saw it click today.

Absolutely. But like, like, what happens? Like, who didn't play on the dream team? Clyde Drexler. And Christian Laydner? Well, Kristen Layton didn't even need to be. That's what, so unfortunately for that team, they didn't have shot. You know, Isaiah said to replace Christian.

I always look at Kristen Laydner. Well, if they was going on one college guy, I should have been shot. I mean. So not saying Isaiah shouldn't have been on a team, but they said they were picking one college guy. That should have been shot. Do you think they should do that now? I was going to ask you like. Yeah.

Do you think like now since we back to Cracken? If you're going to play like a not Tyrese, not play a Tyrese Halliburton anyway? You might as well take two college. Take a Cooper flag. You know what I'm saying? I agree. Not two though, but one.

Why I'm cool, one? But it should be like the, I felt like the college player the year or somebody like that should earn a spot. Yeah. You know what I mean? The college player of the year do have to have like potential to be great.

You can't just be like, some college player years don't even make it. Like you can't be like that college player. to hear of the year. You can't be like Untalented. You have to be a Zion.

Be the next face, I would say. A.D. going into his rookie year was on the 2012 team. You know what I'm saying? So like, you got to be that level

of talent to get that spot. And I know I'm just being petty. So do you think Caitlin Clark should have been now? He's still. I think Caitlin Clark should have been on the USA team. I think so, too.

Because... I think it's good for the brand. It's great for the brand. It's great for the brand. And let's not, we talk brand any other time. Let's not act like it don't matter now. Man, it matters. That's the most sense.

100%. If you think about what, and by the way, if you think about what the 1992 Barcelona team, dream team did for the brand of basketball, yes. The W is still in the, are still in those phases of the NBA, right? Like, the NBA during that, the W is there. So it must be about spreading this global. And she's the biggest global star.

Man, we said a look, yeah. And women's basketball. And listen, I think, like, the women we got over there, I think Asia Wilson, like, I think Asia Wilson's going to be the goat. But, like, just from a peer branding and marketing standpoint, Caitlin's the biggest. And so for her to not be on the team. Her and Angel Reese should have been on the team.

I agree. For her not to be on the team, Angel Reese not to be. I think for what they're doing for women's basketball. basketball. Yeah, that should matter. And by the way, what they showed you in this half a season

is that I'm going to be one of them ones. I'm one of them ones. So it's okay to bet on me right now because I'm going to be one of them ones. She's leading, Angel Reese is leading the league in double doubles and broke the all-time record. Kaelin Clark is leading to lead and assists

on a historical pace. They've shown you we're going to be one of them ones. In the first half of the season. So you can make that bet on me. It's cool. Yeah, yeah. And so I think they should have. I just wanted to say that because I had never chimed in.

I just think we miss a golden opportunity. For sure. To like really extend the women's basketball brand. Not saying if we're relying on these two, but just the attention that they get brings attention to everyone else. And now it's like, oh, you know, like you go to watch a movie and, you know, you may go to a Will Smith movie and you may wind up like in, you know,

Robbie, whatever her name. Like, you know what I mean? So it's other promoravis. Yeah, yeah. I don't know her name, bro. You know, unless I ain't in no movie with her yet. But, like, the attention of people who get attention allows for other talented people to be recognized and, like,

to be like, so it increased a fan base. So I just think that, you know, that was just my little thing. And I do think that college kids, I think like now that we're so dominant or back to our dominance, we should allow for like that college kid, like whoever the next place or we think is going to be the next contributor and going to be, you know. I agree because if you look at the game today, and here's why I agree with that 100%. If you look at the game today, I said you need a stuff, you needed Katie, you need it. Like you needed, Braun, you needed them stars to be in. And next you will probably say Anthony Edwards.
