Ah, here we go on a loaded Friday. This is The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, we are live in Los Angeles on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1. After a couple of hours of our show today, the World Cup, the Women's World Cup, starts France, the co-house.
favorites. We'll be playing in a couple of hours. So a couple of hours of us. Then on FS1,
we handed over to our amazing World Cup teams and crews to take over in Paris and through France
over the next three and a half weeks. Cannot wait for it. Big, big day at Fox. Joy, how are you?
I'm great. Very excited for the World Cup. Very excited. So I'll be glued to my TV all weekend
and for the next couple of weeks and couldn't be happier. Let me start with this. So yesterday,
the Philadelphia Eagles did something really smart,
but it was also a little bit manipulative and deceptive in psychology 101,
and I love it.
They gave Carson Wentz $128 million deal,
but Carson Wentz's deal was not for a couple years.
But this is what the really good GMs,
the really good owners,
the really smart people running NFL teams do.
First of all, there's a rule in the NFL.
If you got a quarterback you like,
you're better to pay them a little early.
then later and get into a bidding war.
So Philadelphia, first of all, thought about that.
But there's two bits of psychology here that are brilliant.
Carson Wentz didn't have to be paid for two years.
Carson Wentz has had injuries.
Why now?
Two reasons.
Number one, Carson Wentz was hurt in college.
Carson Wentz has been heard in the NFL.
Much like, you know, a Kauai Leonard or a Paul George,
if you can guarantee money to a player,
who's had injuries, psychologically, they'll almost always take it.
Now, Carson Wentz could have easily said, I'm going to wait a year and a half.
Patrick Mahomes is going to make $200 million.
I'm not leaving $60 million on the table.
But a smart GM knows the psychology of injuries.
He knows, and good GMs know this.
Players rarely, rarely say no to early guaranteed money when they've had injuries.
and Carson Wentz had a major college injury.
He's had a major NFL injury.
So he's not going to sit back there and wait.
He knows all it takes is a rush end from Dallas to come in,
chop that leg, and he'll never make this money.
So how he knew.
I'm not only signing him early, I'm going to sign him a couple years early,
and he's going to bite on this.
If Carson Wentz had never had an injury, ask yourself,
why would you sign it?
Just wait.
Wait one year.
A year and a half signed for $200 million.
Why would you sign it?
I'm not saying Carson Wentz is making a huge mistake.
I'm saying injuries psychologically play a part in this.
It's why I think Kauai Leonard has a chance to stay in Toronto.
It's why I think Paul George, to some degree, thought,
I'm not leaving $40 million on the table and go to L.A.
I'll stay in OKC and get guaranteed money.
That's the first part of the psychology 101 here.
Here's the second part that's really smart.
It's very Belichekian.
Very Belichekian.
You ever seen this?
are you turning your homework early?
I'm done.
You put it on the table for the teacher.
I'm done.
All the other students are sweating.
How do you get done so early?
Does he have all the answers?
Oh my God, why is it taking me so long?
This hurts the cowboys.
The cowboys have waited a little too long on DAC in some eyes.
And so Philadelphia says, we're going to sign our quarterback to a contract early.
And if you put DAC and Wentz up against each other,
statistically, DAC and his agent have an argument they should make more than Carson Wentz.
He's got a better winning percentage than Carson Wentz.
His TD to Interception ratio is right along with Carson Wentz.
His passer ratings higher than Carson Wentz.
He's never been hurt unlike Carson Wentz.
He's won a playoff game in Carson Wentz has.
He's three and one against Carson Wentz.
Now, I think Carson Wentz is better than Dak.
I think Dak is good.
I think Carson's a very unique talent like Andrew Luck, who's had some injure.
But by signing them early, they go to their rival cowboys.
Look at, we paid Carson $128 million.
Dak and his agent are like, we beat him head to head.
We have more first place finish his division.
We never get hurt.
You know, last three years, only Tom Brady's got more wins than Dak Prescott.
That is a fact.
I'm not making that up.
Clarence Hill pointed this out in Dallas.
He covers the Cowboys.
Jerry and the Cowboys wedded too long to sign Dak.
Eagle signed Carson Wentz made the market jump again.
That's a lot of psychology to this.
And I'm not criticizing Carson Wentz for taking the contract.
If I was Carson Wentz and I had those injuries, college pro and you offer me
128, and I think this kid mostly likes to hunt and fish.
You know, you're not a big city kid.
That's a lot of money.
Take the money.
But if Carson Wentz had never been hurt, I don't think I'd take the money.
I'd be like, I can afford an injury.
You're not going to get rid of me.
Got rid of Nick Foles.
Not getting rid of me.
So Howie Roseman smartly knows the psychology of the injury,
and he also knows the psychology and division,
forcing the Dallas Cowboys now to pay over $30, $31 million for Dak Prescott.
Very, very smart by the Philadelphia Eagles.
It feels very Belichekian.
Turn your homework in early.
Bang it on the table in front of the rest of the class.
Homework's done!
And then watch everybody in the room go.
Why is he done so early?
Oh, my God, I got to hurry up.
It gets in everybody's head a little bit.
Nice job of the Eagles.
And I do believe Carson Wentz is terrific.
Let me shift to this.
The hardest thing for me to do as a parent.
It's not feed my kids.
It's not educate my kids.
It's not going on vacations with my kids.
That's the easy part.
One of the hardest things for me to do as a parent running the household is discipline my kids.
Because kids are kids.
They make mistakes.
so to adults, but let's talk about kids.
So if my daughter does something and I don't approve of it and I have to punish her,
I'm thinking about this.
Okay, she's pretty hard on herself, so I don't want to over punish her.
How's this going to look for my son?
Because he's likely to make way worse mistakes than my daughter.
And then my kids ask me, Dad, did you ever do this?
Yeah, I did.
Did your parents punish you?
No, not really.
How does it land?
and the truth is, until you have kids, there's no rulebook.
Mark Stevens is an investor owner for the Golden State Warriors, put his hand in a player.
According to multiple reports, yelled bad stuff at Lowry of the Raptors too.
I don't have audio tape of that, but that's one of the claims.
I said yesterday, I would get him out of the ownership circle.
And then for one of the rare times, I went home and actually watched my rant on that.
I usually don't do that.
I don't like to watch my work, never have, whatever.
And I thought to myself, you know, it's so easy for me to say that, but I'm not a commissioner.
Ask Roger Goodell the hardest thing he's dealt with.
It's not going to networks and asking for billions.
They all line up.
That's easy.
It's not glad-handing craft.
No, where is Roger Goodell struggled?
Punishment.
Deflate gate, domestic violence.
violence. That's where Goodell is
uneven.
People feel
misguided.
Adam Silver yesterday got a lot of heat
for this because Adam Silver
didn't kick him out of the ownership group.
And I think Adam Silver's
as smart, as progressive,
as forward thinking as everybody,
and has also been a great pro
player commissioner.
So Adam Silver did what I proposed.
swift, intense punishment.
Not as far as I would have gone, but you know what I think with Adam Silver?
I think like a parent, he had a lot of stuff to think about.
How does it land with other owners?
How will it land in eight years?
We did that thing to the fan in Utah, but this is an owner who I'm not saying no to.
I would be rejecting from an ownership club that's the most noteworthy in the league currently.
Adam Silver talked about his decision, and I've watched Goodell, who I think is a great commissioner, struggle with punishment, and I watched Adam Silver yesterday, and I could sense how uncomfortable he was.
It's not a science in terms of making these decisions. I think ultimately we felt that giving how contrite Mr. Stevens was, the fact that he was extraordinarily apologetic, the fact that he had no blemishes on his
prior involvement with the NBA or the Warriors that a one-year band seemed appropriate together
with a fine.
And not only is punishment hard, it's gotten way more difficult with social media.
I mean, yesterday, I led my show with it.
It's one of the most downloaded things I've ever done.
Within an hour, everybody had an opinion.
Some are qualified opinions.
Some are connected opinions.
Some are just opinions.
Social media has made being a commissioner and dealing with punishment exceptionally hard.
Here comes the avalanche, but a commissioner, I was very emotional on the air yesterday.
And I still think I would throw them out of the ownership circle.
But commissioners are not allowed to be emotional.
They have to act swiftly without emotion.
And I can tell you of having done this job for 30 years, to act without emotion in the moment is almost impossible.
for me. Five days later, nine days later, 12 days later, but Adam Silver had to make a decision
quickly. Why? Because it's in the middle of the finals. If this was Tuesday, Denver, January,
he could take two weeks on it. The finals are down 18%. The last thing he's going to do is let this
puppy drag out for nine days, steal every headline, and ding the championship. Good God, you don't
want to drag it out so it not only dings the championship, but it dings your free agency.
The two biggest things in the NBA, and I think they're both way big.
than the regular season, the finals and July free agency.
If you throw this owner out, you have just for the next month, half the headlines are Mark Stevens.
Fawning a lawsuit, litigation against the league.
This is outrageous.
So I'm not defending Adam Silver, nor did I ever feel like I needed to defend Roger Goodell.
I'm just telling you, punishment is hard.
and the explosion of social media has made it exponentially harder.
I think Adam wanted this story over.
It is the second biggest fine ever, I'm told, but it's hard.
These are really hard.
You'd think the commissioner, oh, he has to broker a deal with the Chinese television network.
That stuff's easy because people are lining up to buy the NBA.
If the NBA today opened up all their television rights, we'd bid on it.
and the teams that Turner would bid on it and overseas companies would bid on it.
There's 33 sports networks.
They'd all bid on it.
That's the easy stuff.
But a star does something wrong.
A fan screams.
Look at all the difficulty in the last two months.
Westbrook fan, Kyle Lowry owner.
Look at all.
This is hard.
Easy for me.
I just have an opinion that goes away.
So this morning, Adam Silver made a decision.
Many people are not satisfied.
And you and I can argue about this forever.
But I thought I'd add perspective today.
I went home and watched my take on it.
And I don't think I was wrong, but I think I was emotional.
And I thought, commissioners, they're not allowed to be emotional.
I mean, you ever notice that?
Commissioners always have the same personality.
You ever notice that?
Like, hockey guy is baseball guy.
It's Roger Cadell, is Adam Silver.
And Silver is actually, by commissioner standards, he's carrot top.
he's Chris Rock. He's hysterical.
Most are dry. Most are unemotional.
Many come from accounting.
Many come from dry economic backgrounds to make harsh, intense decisions without emotion.
In fact, one of my knocks on David Stern, he was often too emotional.
He'd scream and yell, and I don't think that's great for a commissioner.
But what Adam Silver did.
Now, Kyle Lowry, by the way, is not satisfied on the one-year ban and the heavy fine.
Heavy for me, maybe not for a billionaire.
Here's Kyle Lowry.
I don't think I could have handled any better.
You know, I'm glad I did what I did and the support I've gotten from fellow players.
The league has been unbelievable.
With that being said, I think more should be done.
I don't think he's not a good look for the ownership group that they have.
A guy like that showing his true class and he shouldn't be a part of our league.
It's just no place for that.
Now, that's where I agree.
believe it's a very, very, it's not about letting any billionaire in. It's the world's biggest
country club. And country clubs, regardless of your income, do not have to let you in. And I think being
an NBA owner or part owner or an NFL owner or a baseball owner or a hockey owner or owning
Liverpool, there is a responsibility beyond, I got a bunch of money. Do you handle yourself with
dignity? Are you in it for the right reasons? Do you understand the culture of your league?
And I think this was a terrible look for the Warriors. Steve Currett should be noted,
immediately came out and apologized for the organization and defended the player, the opposing
player, which said volumes to me is that it didn't play well in the Warriors locker room.
It didn't play well anywhere in the Warriors organization because Steve Kerr came out within a New York
minute and had a strong opinion against one of his slash owner investor, I'd say owner more than
investor.
Now, for the record, if Stevens is forced to sell and anybody out there seeking vengeance,
he's going to make five times his money.
So don't ever get caught up and he's a rich guy.
I want to punish him.
Rich guys figure out ways to make money.
I think the punishment here is this gentleman doesn't understand how prestigious, coveted,
and important the ownership circle is.
It's not just about your money.
It's about your decency.
It's about your understanding of the sports culture.
It's about being a good citizen.
And I think here Mark Stevens failed.
Not saying he's a bad human.
There, he was a jerk.
All right, we got a lot of stuff today.
I'm getting a lot of pushback on something.
And it's just crazy to me.
I know you guys all hate the Warriors.
Like, I get it.
Everybody, I understand.
Y'all hate Tom Brady.
It got tired of LeBron and you don't like Amazon.
And Starbucks is no good.
I understand the pushback on dynasties and wealth.
I get it.
But there's a difference between excuses and reasons.
And if the Warriors lose, these aren't excuses.
They're reasons.
That's coming up.

Coming up next on FS1, the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup kicks off as host nation France faces off with Korea Republic and group play.
Coverage begins next and all matches will be live on Fox FS1 and streaming on the Fox Sports app.
So the World Cup, the Women's World Cup, we are favorites along with France, but France is the host country.
They are younger than us.
They are elevating.
We are a veteran-led team.
Can we hold on with this group and win one more World Cup?
That's in a couple hours from now.
It is great to have here at FS1 on a Friday.
There's excuses.
Dog ate my homework.
And there are reasons.
Our school bus got hit, teaboned on the way to school.
We're going to be late.
Does everybody get, there's a story this morning.
There's a good chance Kevin Durant returns for games five and six from his calf injury.
We all understand now that this injury, as Chris Carter said this morning on first things first,
is way more serious than we were led to believe two days after it happened.
We have said it's a strained calf.
I'm willing to bet money that he's torn part of his calf.
That's the reason why he's been out a month.
A strain calf, you're killed before a month.
He's been out.
I believe it's torn.
He can't play three games at Kevin Durant level in six days.
Clay Thompson, by the way, popped a hamstring.
So Clay Thompson, they say, is going to play tonight.
Everybody realizes in the world, he's going to be at about 70, 75%.
You've seen Boogie.
You know, he had a muscle pop out of his skin.
He's at about 70%.
He's at his good moments, but he's out of shape.
And he has no win at all.
So I've got Clay Thompson at 70%.
Kevin Durant hasn't played.
Boogie at 70%.
Kvon Looney's out and Iggy's about 80%.
Folks, if they don't win this finals, injuries the reasons.
Sorry if that bothers you.
But Kevin Durant missing the finals would be like Michael
Jordan missing a finals, LeBron missing a finals, Larry Bird missing a finals,
Olajuwon missing a finals, Carl Malone missing the finals for Utah. It's a thing. Those are not
excuses. Listen, think about this. So you've got Katie and Looney out. Clay started the series,
got hurt, missed games coming back along with Boogie. Isn't that the equivalent of Michael
Jordan's Bulls? Michael Jordan comes back to a series after a calf strain by game five. Ron
Harper, you had him, you lost him, out for the series.
Luke Longley comes back after an injury a month ago.
He's about 70% an inconsistent.
And oh, by the way, Tony Cooch has been ruled out.
We wouldn't blame the Bulls, but we liked the Bulls.
For whatever reasons, maybe it's just MJ, the time.
We love the Bulls.
We didn't hold it against the Bulls.
And the Bulls, frankly, they had a handful of injuries.
I've never seen a finals like this.
It's not that players are getting hurt.
It's their best players.
It's not like Quinn Cook has hurt.
Alfonso McKinney.
It's Kevin Durant, Clay Thompson, Iggy,
Boogie Cousins.
If they lose, it's no shot at Toronto.
But you take Magic and Worthy out of a Laker final.
One of them out completely.
The other 60-70 percent, it's not the same basketball team.
Here's Joy with the News.
Turn on the news.
This is the Herd Line News.
So the NBA and Adam Silver announced yesterday that minority
owner, Mark Stevens, has been banned for a year and fined $500,000 for yelling, go bleep yourself
and shoving Kyle Lowry.
Well, Lowry gave his reaction to this punishment and some perspective.
The guy said to you to go Blake yourself.
Is that accurate?
Yeah, multiple times.
A guy like that showing his true class and he shouldn't be a part of our league.
I understand that the moment my team needed me, understand that they're, they're
plenty of fans and kids in the world watching this game.
And me being a grown man, having kids myself, and I'm going to grow a man.
You know, my kids could always go back and see that.
I hold myself to a high, high standard.
And I got to make sure that I uphold that.
Now everyone has a different opinion on what the appropriate punishment should be,
as you were just saying.
And some people feel like it's too light.
Some people feel like it's enough.
in my opinion, whatever punishment you were going to give to a fan in that position
would be the appropriate punishment for him.
So if you feel like you can't make him sell the team because that gets into some legal gray area
or sets a precedent you're not comfortable with as a commissioner,
if you were going to ban a fan from the arena or from being around the team,
then that should be appropriate for him as well.
There's been these conversations about, you know, he's a big philanthropist,
and obviously Adam Silver said he's never had an issue with him before.
And I'm all for second chances and I get it.
But I also feel like when we all know this because we're adults,
sometimes you do things in life, you cross a line you can't come back from.
Whether you are a good person or not, we all make mistakes.
And some mistakes have more serious implications than others.
If he had just yelled at him, this is a completely different conversation
because we're all in arenas and people yell.
It is interesting.
I didn't know about dropping the F-bombs until later.
It's interesting.
Like I thought the action was bad.
But then swearing at the player along with that,
It's hard to get your brain around.
It's like, this guy went to Harvard?
It's just such a, yeah, it's such an emotionally reactive situation.
It's something that is so obviously going to happen.
You're sitting on the sidelines.
You have to be aware that this is a possibility.
Kendrick Perkins said this yesterday, I thought it was really smart.
He goes, when I went into a game, I had my mind right.
Nice.
When you go and get access to the world's best basketball players, like if I took my wife
and we had front row seats to an NBA game.
I'd have one cocktail.
That's it.
I'm not going four in because I would be like,
oh my God, I'm going to be on TV.
My kids will see me.
Like I would be...
And that's not even something you do regularly.
This is something he does every night.
Because he's an owner.
To me, I felt like he should have been bans
and he should have to sell the team,
but I would have been more comfortable with just banning him.
My problem is the precedent that it sets with privilege.
I understand he's an owner,
but with great.
power comes what? Great responsibility. You're held to a higher standard. And this whole idea that
this privilege and you're in this protective bubble, that is not a real thing. And if someone
decides to get hands on, it's going to go badly. And like Kyle Lowry said, he has kids. So luckily,
you know, he's level-headed about the situation. My fear is somebody's going to catch someone
on the wrong day at the wrong time and it's going to end very badly. Kyle Lowry would have
disassembled him in 3.5 seconds.
He runs full speed into grown men all the time.
He's a very strong guy.
It really could have gone badly.
So Kyrie reportedly has a low probability of returning to Celtics, as we know.
But even if he was to leave Boston, the team isn't expected to back out of their pursuit of Anthony Davis, according to Chris Mannix.
It turns out the Pelicans are coveting Jason Tatum as the most in a potential trade for AD.
So would Tatum, Marcus Smart, and at least the number 14 pick this year?
year as a trade for AD be good for both teams.
I don't, I feel like that's a lot to give up for Boston for Anthony Davis.
You know, I've always believed, Joy, when you, when you lose a star, you always lose the
trade.
The best you can possibly do in a trade of a star, it needs a star, is to get back somebody you
think could, is not a star yet, but could be a star.
The Nets can't give the Pelicans anything, nor can the Lakers.
I mean, Lonzo Ball is a good player.
But Jason Tatum, I believe, could be a 23-point-of-game star.
It would be hard if I'm the Pelicans and I got a first-round pick
and I got a guy I think's a star.
As a GM, but here's my thing.
I think David Griffin would jump on the Boston offer in a second.
Would Danny Aange?
Because I don't have any guarantees on Anthony Stan.
Well, that's the risk that they're taking.
Now, look, that worked out for the Raptors pretty well.
But Kyrie, when he was traded to Boston, had never mentioned Boston as a city.
One year in, he's not happy.
And there has been some talks about AD not wanting to play there.
Yes.
Now, he took that out the table himself, but obviously you don't want to eliminate teams
and eliminate leverage any leverage that you have.
So having that out there is not good.
But I...
I mean, it did work for Toronto.
So sometimes, like you said, you got to be aggressive and take risks.
That's not really Boston's way.
That's not his way.
That's not his way.
He's very, he's one of those guys.
He will err on the side of caution.
That's just how he trades.
Right.
Well, caution may keep you consistently in the playoffs,
but it's probably not going to get you a championship.
Finally, the Eagles have put their money with their mouth is.
They signed Carson Wentz to a four-year contract extension
that will keep him in Philly through 2024.
They're hoping that's enough time for Wentz to, you know,
stay healthy and get them over the hump.
And Wentz responded to his $128 million contract yesterday.
What's up Eagles Nation?
Can't even explain to you how excited I am right now
to be a part of this great city for this many more years.
It means the world to me.
I want to thank Jeffrey Lurie, Howie Roseman, Coach Peterson,
the entire organization, all of my teammates for supporting me.
It's going to be a fun ride.
By no means is the work done.
We're just getting started.
This year is going to be special,
and I look forward to seeing you guys on Sundays at the link this fall.
Thanks again.
God bless and go Eagles.
He's going to win a lot of games.
You like that beer?
I'm not a big beard guy, mostly because I can't grow one.
But I think Philadelphia did the right thing.
It's scary because like Andrew Locke, you're like, oh, my eyes getting been hurt a couple times,
but boy, I like Carson once a lot.
He does scare me with the injuries, but he's a great talent, and he is a franchise quarterback.
I never really fault teams in these situations.
I mean, the Eagles are going to pay up front, and they're taking a lot of risk.
But in the ends, at the back end of the contract, they're going to save me.
millions. So it's actually really a better deal for the Eagles long term.
Listen, if Carson Wentz did get hurt, you're screwed either way.
Right.
I mean, financially or physically, you've got to roll the dice on this. Do you like him?
Yeah. If he gets hurt, you're going to be hurt in more ways than just economically.
You have to pay the quarterback. This is your guy, which I think Carson Wentz is their guy.
And if he can say healthy, which, look, sometimes people just get the bug.
And there's no explanation why. He's not that he's not trying or taking care of his body.
Some people just have that injury bug.
hopefully they don't but I have no problem with this you have to pay your quarterback
enjoy with the news well that's the news and thanks for stopping by
the her line news the kairi irving thing is fascinating and I'm going to take a break early and get
and give broussard the entire last 12 15 minutes of the first hour I just want to throw this
out there I want to throw a couple things out there first of all the last 20 years
I've been told so many people want to go to the Knicks
Everybody wants to go with the Knicks.
And you ever figure out who the Knicks always end up with?
The New York Knicks have become Dancing with the Stars, that TV show,
where old people go to reboot their career or, like, marginally famous people go to make their career.
But George Clooney and his prime is not going to dancing with the Stars.
The Knicks are basketball with the Stars.
They end up with Derek Rose, Amari Stademey on his bad knees.
You know, Joe Kim Noah basically hobbled night to night.
You know, Carmelo Anthony doesn't play any defense.
Like, they always end up getting the guy that's just trying to reboot his career.
So everybody's telling me since January, I getting everybody, they're getting Kevin Durant.
They're getting Kyrie.
Kobe's coming out of retirement and everybody's got played for the New York Knicks.
This morning I wake up.
And a team in their own city, Brooklyn, appears.
appears to be landing Kyrie Irving.
They can't even get the best guy in their own city.
And I'll address that.
Do we want the Knicks to be great?
Do we want these players to go to the Knicks?
Zion Williamson, are you going to go there?
Kyrie doesn't appear to be going there.
Now I'm assured it's Kevin Durant.
Really?
He wants to go upside Kevin Knox.
That's going to be great.
Like, I'm going to address this.
Are we rooting for the Knicks?
to land somebody because it would be fun, but they haven't landed in anybody in 20 years.
They're dancing with the stars of the NBA.
People trying to reboot their career that nobody else wants.
That's coming up.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost its mind.
Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
That's where Sports Slice comes in.

don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we're.
We've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

Absolutely.

Yeah.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me.
He goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue with 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?

Hey, Ms. Parker.

Unbelievable.
Joy's got one.
Away travel in style.
We're not just taking some old.
Very important when TMZ catches you at the airport.
that you have a fancy.
And they're like,
ugh,
guys important.
Here's Chris Broussard.
All right,
here's my theory on this thing.
Is that as much as we think the Knicks are great,
they ended up with an old T-Mack
and a mostly shot D. Rose and an old sheet
and Jason Kidd at the end of his career,
and Amari with bad knees,
they're dancing with the stars.
That you're trying to reboot your career on that show.
They never end up with the guy.
I love, yeah,
I love your analogy.
That's hilarious.
I got another one.
They think,
the Knicks think,
if you ever see the movie,
shallow how
when Jack Black thought he had
Gwyneth Paltrow
right you know that's the Knicks
when I moved to New York I grew up in the Midwest
and I moved to New York in 1998
to work for the New York Times and eventually
covered the Nets first than the Nix
I was shocked
at how much New Yorkers
particularly the media thought
how great the NICs were like they thought
the NICs were the Lakers the Cowboys
the Yankees every time there was a free
And at that time, I think Chris Weber at one year, Grant Hill.
Even when the Knicks didn't have money, everybody swore they're getting one of these guys.
They'll figure something out.
These guys will take less, whatever.
And I had to tell them, look, I grew up in the Midwest.
The Knicks are nothing.
If you don't grow up in New York, the Knicks were like the 13th team I thought about when I thought about the NBA as a kid.
Yeah, when I grew up as a kid, the Detroit Pistons were great, Washington was great.
The Northwest team, Seattle, Portland were great.
Of course, the Lakers, I mean, Detroit, Philadelphia, Houston, like, the Knicks are not that team.
And the worst thing about it with your example, dancing with the stars, is that the stars tease them.
Like, every time they go there, they're like, it's the Mecca basketball.
You love playing here in the garden.
Kobe and MJ is my favorite place to play.
Right, right.
So they tease them, you know.
But, wait, wait, wait, wait, there's a lot of places I like to visit.
I love visiting New Orleans.
Right.
I mean, don't get me wrong.
I've had some of my best nights in New Orleans.
It doesn't mean necessarily everybody wants to move their family there unless you're born and raised in Louisiana.
Then it's right.
Like there are places in the world.
The Knicks could be one of them.
They're a great place to visit.
You don't necessarily want to move and live there for the rest of your life.
And that's not a knock on Louisiana, but it's a party city.
I was talking to someone within the Knicks organization yesterday.
We were talking about the Kyrie thing, how it really looks like he's leaning toward Brooklyn.
And the person said, if we don't get someone this summer,
then we might as well just go Atlanta Hawks mode.
Just forget free agency for the future and just rebuild through the draft
and with young players.
Like, forget it.
Because look, as bad as it was in 2010 when LeBron went to Miami and blew off the Knicks,
the difference is that they hoped they could get LeBron.
The fans, everybody hoped they would get LeBron.
now they believed they were getting Kevin Durant
and still believe they're getting Kevin Durant.
So if this summer, when you have two max slots,
when you have all these free agents,
when all this talk has been about Durant
and someone else going to New York,
if they don't get anybody,
it is going to,
this will be the worst summer that they've ever experienced.
And this whole thing is crazy.
I read a story this morning,
and I want to talk about KD,
he's not coming back 100% for the series.
This has got to be eating him alive.
This was going to be,
such a clean break.
My third title on the MVP and I'm going east.
It would be perfect.
It's like a movie.
This now is a cobbled mess.
This is not how movies end.
He's going to sit down the sideline.
Toronto may win this series now.
Clay's hobbled.
I mean, I look at this and I think,
man, is this how KD wants to end this dynasty?
This is a bad ending.
It is, of course, you don't ever want to end it like this.
However, if they lose this series and he leaves, I mean, you know, they can't kill him.
Like, he's free to go somewhere else.
The question is, do you leave Golden State to go to Brooklyn?
Like, I don't see that.
Like, the Clippers aren't anything special either historically, but at least it's L.A.
And it's a little, you know, they got a little something else going.
So Kevin Durant, who's very.
sensitive. We would acknowledge that. Nothing wrong with that.
So Kevin Duranis
heard for three years. Oh,
you joined
a Hall of Fame level point guard.
It was his team.
So now
Kyrie's from Jersey
will be seen as the Nets team.
So now you're going to join a little flakier
ball-centric Hall of Fame level
point guard and it's his team
first. Look, good point
because the Knicks, when they get
to talk to KD, because they know
Kyrie is recruiting, not going to recruit, recruiting KD.
Already talking to him about let's go to Brooklyn instead.
And some of the feeling, I don't know if this is actually how Kyrie feels,
but the feeling among some people in the league is that the reason he prefers Brooklyn
is because if it doesn't work out, if you don't win a championship there,
you're not getting killed.
You know, you go to New York with all the hype of KD and Kyrie coming there.
Expectations are championship by year three.
And if you don't deliver,
we know, we've seen it with all the legends that have gone there and failed.
They kill you.
So there's some of that thinking.
But when the Knicks get to talk to KD,
what you just said will be part of what they say.
They'll say, look, you're the man.
Why are you following Kyrie?
He's supposed to follow you.
Thank you.
Whoever you play with KD should follow you.
You don't want that narrative.
Just what you said.
I've heard that from the Knicks.
So when they get in front of KD
and it looks like Brooklyn is a real threat,
they're going to be like KD.
This is why you leaving Golden State
because you don't want that narrative again.
Now you're going to go do it all over again.
With a flakier point guard.
Yeah.
Like at least Golden State, you knew you were going to win.
Well, and also, I mean, just the personality,
Steph is, if nothing else, wildly stable and dependable.
Right.
Kyrie is incredibly talented, but I think even Kyrie fans, he's a little more erratic.
I mean, he's moved away from successful partnerships.
You know, I'm with you on this.
Let me just throw this at you.
Somebody told me this years ago.
The strongest word on-air talent people should ever use is no.
Because managers here, oh, here's some money, want the job.
Yes, I'll take the job.
And you say, no.
Oh, time out.
We've got to have a meeting.
the host doesn't take the
no is powerful
waiting is powerful
patience is powerful
LeBron would have been better off
sitting this year out
and perusing the landscape
in one year from now
if Katie comes back to the Warriors
who's available next year
what teams next year have space
if he just comes back and says
you know what I watch LeBron
probably should have taken a deep breath
I'll go back to Golden State win.
In one year, does Dallas now with Porzingas and Luca have an opening?
Like, who's in a year?
Well, there's that, but also even the teams now that have space.
What those teams should do is if you don't, like, let's say the Knicks strikeout.
Don't go out there and foolishly spend your money on guys that don't deserve it.
Tobias Harris.
That are just going to make you mediocre.
Yeah, good players.
Like save your money.
Because then at least you can make trades when you have cap room.
Maybe next summer when AD is available.
Like you said, maybe KD if you were to stay, he'd be available.
But from KD's perspective, he can look at the landscape.
Where does Kyrie go?
How does it work out?
Where does Kauai go?
How does it work out?
What's going on with the clippers?
It doesn't even have to be different teams.
It will be some of them, but it doesn't have to be different teams.
You can just watch and see how this plays out with the current teams that have
Cap room. It's crazy. So Clay plays tonight. Clay will not be 100%. He popped a hamstring.
You know, they'll probably want to get about 28 minutes out of him. If nothing, he's a great
decoy. They need 20 plus points. My takeaway is, what do you think happens tonight? Well, I'm going to
stick with my pick of Golden State in six, but I'm not hung up on the games now. I'm just
hug up on Gold State. Now, Kerr said, I had this, what is this, Joy? Kerr said that Durant will be
available for game five.
Well, possibly five or six.
So is that, we've been here.
Is that telling you, if Golden State wins tonight, it's six?
I would believe that.
That's what I think.
Yes.
But I'm, if you put a gun to my head, I don't know now.
Because I've heard so many things about KD.
I heard before this final started, he's not going to play.
It's worse than people are letting on.
This was from people close to it.
Then, of course, there came out the reports.
that he'll be ready for game three or four or now five or six.
So I don't know what to believe.
But if you put a gun to my head and I had to make a bet,
I would say I don't think he plays in the series.
That's what Joy says.
Yeah, just because like the same, this has been going on now for a month.
Oh, he might be back in a few games.
He might be back in a few weeks.
And it just keeps getting longer and longer.
I'm not a doctor, obviously, a sports doctor who watched KD.
in some of these clips.
When KD had the ice pack on,
the doctor said to me,
why is the ice pack so low?
It's not on his calf.
The ice pack was down below the calf near the Achilles.
He wasn't suggesting it's a torn Achilles,
but that's not where the ice pack would be on a strained calf.
Oh, my.
They need a healthy clay.
I think they can win it without KD, but not a healthy clay.
Hour to next.
One more herd.
The herd streams 24 hours a day.

Ah, here we go, hour two.
This is The Heard.
Wherever you may be, however you may be listening.
IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio and FS1.
One hour from now, World Cup begins in France.
The co-favorites, French women's national team.
begins play on this very network.
Next two, three weeks, a lot of fun.
Nat States, women's national team is the favorites, along with France.
France, of course, has home pitch advantage, and that is something.
It's great to have here.
Joy Taylor is joining me, of course, as always.
Joy.
Great.
Very excited for the World Cup today.
Very excited.
So I'm on.
So yesterday, it was a big NFL news.
The Philadelphia Eagles, two years before they had to sign Carson Wentz,
to a big contract.
128 million, like 30-some guaranteed year, all that stuff.
And I have no problem with it.
I think there's a handful of teams in the NFL, eight or nine that are very well-run.
Philadelphia is one of them, Colts, New England.
I think Rams Chargers, both in L.A. are well-run.
I think Dallas is better run than people think.
I think C-Ox are pretty well-run.
Kansas City's well-run.
Green Bay, historically, has been pretty well-run.
And then there's a bunch of franchises that have talent, but aren't necessarily always well-run.
Philadelphia, Howie Roseman, knows what he's doing, the owner, the coach,
the GM, the quarterback, they secure it.
You know, here's the thing.
I love the quarterback position.
I played, I was a terrible quarterback in high school, but I love the position.
It's a leadership position.
And I'm very critical of quarterbacks.
In fact, if you look at how much I talk football, I would say half of my football discussions
are just about quarterbacks because I think they are the soccer stars and the NBA stars
of their sport.
I love football, but I'm not going to break down offensive linemen, interior pass rush, you know, zone blitzes.
I talk quarterbacks a lot.
I've read every book on quarterbacks.
I put them in tears in rankings, in groupings,
and that's what I do, and it drives some people crazy.
If you take the next five years in college football
and the last eight to ten years in the NFL,
let's say a decade, last 15 years,
there are four quarterbacks, in my opinion,
who are just different from a skill standpoint.
Andrew Luck, Patrick Mahomes, Carson Wentz,
and a kid at Clemson named Trevor Lawrence.
Those are the next four superstars for 20 years, 15 years.
Now, I follow high school college football recruiting.
Trevor Lawrence is the best high school quarterback talent.
I have seen since Andrew Luck, and I think he has a better arm than Andrew Luck.
I think he could be better than Andrew Luck.
And I don't say that lightly.
So two of these guys, Andrew Luck and Trevor Lawrence, you can kind of see coming for miles.
Two of them, Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz, kind of snuck up on us.
but I consider those four to really be different.
Big, fast, arm, athletic, work ethic.
I mean, you know, Patrick Mahomes' dad, a little bit of pro athlete.
Andrew Luck's dad, a little bit of pro athlete.
I mean, Wentz is 6'5, got a cannon for an arm, can run all over the field.
Trevor Lawrence, I watched him play in high school.
He just did not look like anybody I've ever seen throwing a football in high school.
Didn't look like anybody.
I've gotten all these high school camps.
I've never seen a high school quarterback.
I saw him surrounded by nine other five-star high school quarterbacks.
He looked like a college quarterback, and he was 17 years old.
He was actually throwing the ball better than a handful of NFL guys could throw it,
and I'm not joking on that.
So I think you signed the deal.
Now, of course, with Andrew Luck and Carson Wentz, you've had injuries,
but I think you rolled the dice on that.
If you look at Carson Wentz's career stats, these are amazing.
He started as a rookie, and they had a very chaotic offensive line situation as a rookie.
They had no wide receivers as a rookie.
And his stats all time are 64% completion percentage.
You know, almost three times the many touchdowns is picks and a pass rating 92.5.
The kid's a stud.
He really is.
Now, do you worry about the injury stuff?
Yeah.
But I think Howie Roseman's smart and he figured it out.
He said, you know what?
If we wait a year or two and Patrick Mahomes contract comes up and they're going to offer Patrick
$200 million, we.
We might as well just give this kid a lot of money now.
And in the meantime, force the Dallas Cowboys into a little uncomfortable situation where,
oh, crap, we sign this now, Carson Wentz, then the Cowboys probably have to pay DAC over $30 million a year because that's what Carson's going to get.
Now, I think Carson's worth it.
If you pay DAC that, you're not going to be able to sign everybody Dallas has drafted extraordinarily well.
In fact, Field Yates put this up yesterday on Twitter.
The Eagles, veterans, players are now signed for at least three more years.
So you're going to have a three-year run of Philadelphia.
They're going to be a pain in the arse to deal with.
That's why I've said, I think New England and Kansas City and the Colts and the Steelers are favorites to get to the Super Bowl in the AFC.
I think there's four really good teams.
Keep your eye on the Chargers.
They've got a good roster.
I think Philadelphia is my favorite to get in the NFC.
I think I like Philadelphia a lot, so I like the move.
Let me go back to something.
I led the show with.
We talked a lot about it.
The Warriors investor Mark Stevens was banned for a year and fined 500K for shoving Kyle Lowry.
And according to Lowry, I don't know if there's audio or anything on this or anybody can lip read,
but he also set a bunch of expletives at Kyle Lowry, which is just, it's hard to wrap my brain around a Harvard team owner,
swearing and pushing an NBA player.
But I got video of most of that.
I did get people yesterday that pushed back on me and said, Colin, you said he should be taken out of the ownership circle and get him out of the arenas.
Yes, I did, and I believe that.
And the defense, a lot of people said this, and it's an important, this is an important thing to bring up.
Colin, one bad moment shouldn't ruin your life.
One bad moment doesn't equal bad guy.
I'm not saying that.
And I think that's a fair point that we live in a world now where you could be an outstanding,
I mean, you could literally be a wonderful public servant.
You could be a politician, a small state senator making $60,000 a year for 50 years.
One bad tweet, you're out of office, and you're a horrible person.
I've seen this avalanche, this hate tsunami, this tyranny of the mob on social media.
I've seen it just devour very well-meaning people.
Okay, I don't play the Twitter game.
I'm not trying to curry favor with Twitter.
I see a lot of people in the media doing it.
I'm not interested whatsoever.
And I do think it's a fair point that Colin,
we are crucifying people who have a history of philanthropic gestures.
They're good people.
They help society for one bad moment.
You're right.
But this is where it differs.
when you are an owner of a team, you are representing a city.
I believe it is an absolute privilege to be an owner of a sports franchise.
You're representing the players, Steve Kerr.
By the way, Kerr fired back on this immediately.
You're representing years of players.
And so you say, well, you know, he's in.
owner, when you rise up the face of anything, yes, Donald Trump's tweets are going to be viewed
more harshly than my executive producers. And the owner of a franchise doing this is going to be
treated severely. Ownership is a privilege. It's not a right. There are, I think there's
800 to 1100 billionaires in the world. Most do not own.
teams, many because of their backgrounds and how they made their money, would not be allowed
in the ownership circle.
So I do think there has to be an incredibly high standard because owners are speaking for a
community, in this instance, a basketball culture, and the world's changed.
I mean, the culture of the NBA is simply a different culture.
A lot of my media peers and colleagues on this struggle with this.
Listen, every sport has its own culture.
College football is very insular and very southern.
It's awesome.
It's just everything in the South.
You wake up on a Saturday morning in Nashville, Tennessee at 8 o'clock, they're pouring bourbon.
I mean, it is so southern, and it's great.
And golf tends to be elitist, and tennis tends to be rich kids.
Every sport's got a different culture.
Our football culture in America puts their arms around cops and military,
and God does it feel like Kansas City and Greenfield?
Bay in Indianapolis and the Midwest and I love it. But the basketball culture in America
folks is different. It's a global sport. It is a left-leaning progressive sport. It's an
inclusive sport. And to be an owner of an NBA team is simply different. It is. And if you're
a Harvard guy and you're a Silicon Valley guy and maybe you get a couple drinks courtside and you're
an owner guy and you're dropping F bombs and pushing a player, an African-American,
it is an atrocious look.
It's an audacious look.
Colin, don't go there.
Every league is different.
Every culture is different.
Every sport is different.
Don't take your college basketball college football culture and say, this would not happen
over in my sport.
No, no, no, it wouldn't.
Basketball's different.
basketball's always been different. Football tends to lean corporate and conservative. I support it.
Basketball tends to lean global, independent, and progressive. I support that.
Your sport isn't basketball. Basketball isn't yours. I'm comfortable with basketball's culture.
I love it. I've loved it since I was a kid. Go to their All-Star game. It's crazy.
It doesn't feel anything like baseball's All-Star game, anything like the Senior Bowl in college football, anything like March Madness.
We just have to understand.
Basketball's different.
If you look at it culturally, it is a privilege to own all these teams.
But I see a lot of this.
We're overreacting.
This wouldn't happen here and that wouldn't happen here.
Your sport isn't basketball.
It is uniquely progressive, uniquely global.
And the players, frankly, matter more than other sports.
Other sports don't have guys making $400 million on shoe deals.
Other sports don't have that.
I mean, golf's the only other sport where, like, guys make more money for their shoes and their clubs and the ball than they do for winning.
Basketball's culture changes neighborhoods.
I mean, Alan Iverson drove me crazy.
But to deny his cultural significance is foolish.
to deny how powerful Kobe was in Turkey and China.
That's why he visited those places every offseason.
So don't bring your other sports into basketball.
Basketball shouldn't also expect all the other sports to be them.
That's not fair either.
But I think this is a bad look for the NBA.
They acted swiftly.
I like what they did.
I would have been more harsh.
Maybe I'm too emotional.
easy for me to say as some loudmouth radio jerk.
But let me just defend what the NBA does and does more than any league.
It protects his players.
In the 70s, I never forget this, a basketball coach telling me, he was a coach.
He goes, I like college basketball.
I said, why don't I like the NBA?
He goes, because I'm a coach and that's a player's league.
He goes, college basketball is a coach of sport.
NBA basketball is a players league.
He goes, I like having the control.
He goes, NBA is a players league.
And that's like in the 70s and 80s.
It's more so now.
All right, good stuff.
Sometimes I just have to get stuff off my chest.
Joy puts up with it.
I think that's pretty much our show, right?
You tolerating me.
No, well, yeah, that and, you know, we have to get stuff on our chest.
We have three hours to fill as a lot of talking.
But basketball is different.
It is.
It's different.
And it's like you said yesterday, it's the most unique in that it is so intimate that you have no barrier
between you and the players.
So we have to be more protective of players because fans are an inch away.
They're just right on the player.
So if we overreact occasionally, if sports media commissioners,
if we overreact occasionally a little in basketball to protect the player,
I'm okay with that.
They are incredibly vulnerable.
I can't reach out and touch a hockey guy.
You ever see the football?
You ever see the fan that runs on a football field,
what happens to him?
Badly.
He looks like a sausage going into a sausage grinder.
Baseball.
Fans like, I can touch Chris Paul.
I can talk to LeBron James.
So if we overreact a little, Colin, protecting the players, I'm okay with that.
I'm okay with it culturally.
I'm okay with it from a proximity standpoint.
I'm okay from an optical standpoint.
All right, Kendrick Perkins, I'm going to ask Kendrick Perkins,
five free agents, pretend you're each one.
Where would you go? That's coming up.

don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough
because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,

What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, man.
is Parker.

Kendrick Perkins has played with a Celtics Thunder and Cavaliers.
in the finals. You've been in plenty of these finals before.
We were talking about injuries, and I said to you
during the break, what is the most injured
and in pain you have been in
the NBA prior playoffs? He had to play. What was it?
It was the time when I was in OKC
when we went to the finals.
And I told like,
I don't know if it's called a groin bone, because George just made me feel
some type of way. She was like, I didn't know it was a bone,
but my ligament was missing. Yeah, my
growing was missing on my right side.
So you had no ligament
the right side of your groin?
Nope.
And you played with it.
Yep, the whole time I was like taped up.
At night I couldn't sleep, but that would give me a tour
or a shot before the game and I was fine.
And I played all the way through it.
I actually did it in the first round and I just played all the way through it.
And you were in pain?
Yeah, for sure.
Lord.
Well, Jason, your brother, Jason Taylor, told me a story once about his foot.
Oh, yeah.
No, he had an awful injury.
And when he was in Washington with the Redskins, he almost died from.
It's a contusion in his leg, and he almost got a blood clot.
You have to be very careful.
People understand that's why both these teams, frankly, Toronto's not 100% healthy either.
Both these teams falling apart.
Nobody's 100% healthy when you get down to the finals.
Like everybody has, nobody is 100%.
Something is hurting somebody.
Like, that's why I say it never come down to X's and O's when it's this late in the season.
It'll always come down the willpower.
Who wanted the most?
Right.
Like everybody, you know everybody,
tendencies. It's about who wanted the most. Everybody's tired. Everybody is aching. Who wanted the most?
Yeah, Toronto right now is playing great basketball. They played with more urgency in game three.
They really are. Okay. So I want to play a game today, Perk. Okay. So I want you, I'm going to give you
five, six free agents. You're the free agent. And I want you to think about everything. Money,
contract, brand city coaching. So let's start this free agency destination with Perk.
Let's start with one. You've got strong opinions on Kevin Durant.
Perk, you are Kevin Durant.
Where do you choose and why?
I go to the New York Knicks.
If I'm Kevin Durant, I change the franchise.
It would be great for basketball, for the NBA.
It would be just beautiful for basketball, period.
And if I'm Kevin Durant, I go there.
I change the whole dynamic change, everything about it,
bring back that energy, try to win a title.
If he goes and win a title in New York,
oh, man, his legacy goes through the roof.
Do you worry they don't have any players now to play with?
Who would he go play with?
Kevin Knox?
I mean, unless they get a second, he goes there, wins 37 games.
I think a lot of guys in a free agency would love to go play with Katie.
I think Kyrie will go.
And I've been very critical of Kai Reeve for us being a Batman,
but I think that would be a perfect fit for him to go and play alongside Kevin Durant.
All right.
Let's go, Kauai Leonard.
Starts the year his career as a spur, moves to Toronto.
Many people think he's going to the Clippers.
You are Kauai Leonard.
I stay in Toronto.
I mean, even if he goes to the Clippers, he still won't be the biggest name in L.A.
It still be LeBron James.
I stay in Toronto and he has a chance to be the biggest star in the country in Canada.
So why leave?
Like you have everything.
We're talking about like this could be like huge for him, marketing wise, everything.
Like he already getting free food and a free condo.
Like what else do you?
And then on top of that like he would have a whole country, not just a city,
the whole country.
All right.
Jimmy Butler, reportedly,
Sixers would like to pay him, but
you know, Jimmy's a little older, Kendrick.
He wants a lot of money.
Where do you think?
Where would you go if you're Jimmy Butler?
I stay in Philly.
I think it's the perfect match for him.
I think they got a great young core.
If I'm Jimmy, I stays in Philly.
The organization is great.
I think El Brand is moving the organization in the right
direction.
You got young talent within Joe L.M.B.
And Tobias Harris.
and I don't leave.
I think you won one game from reaching the Eastern Conference finals this year.
And if I'm Jimmy Butler, I stay.
Okay, so you have Kauai and Jimmy Butler staying, Kevin Durant going cross-country.
Clay Thompson of the Warriors.
If I'm Clay Thompson, I'm leaving.
I'm going to the Lakers.
I'm going to the Lakers.
I'm going to Los Angeles, and I'm going to play on the side of LeBron James.
And I think LeBron James would cater to Clay and take a back.
seat to Clay because I'm really
interested in see Clay
be the man of a team
like we all go
always go
like go to state is always going to be step team
if I'm Clay I think
I'm going to the Lakers
do you think you know it's interesting because most
people think
he will stay in Golden State
but it is odd that
you know he'll never
be if Kevin Durant stayed
he again is the
fourth most talked about warrior because
Draymond gets more talk. It's fascinating.
Clay's the best player
in the league and that's the
least disgust. Kauai may be quiet.
We talk about Kauai all the time.
I wonder if that weighs on him.
I mean, it's crazy because Clay Thompson has
actually been the best shooting guard
in this postseason.
Above James Harden, above
CJ McCullin, who I love most.
He's been the best
two-guard, best shooting guard in this
postseason. And he still just don't get
enough credit for what he bring to the table.
All right, Perk, who do you like tonight and why Warriors Trail 2-1?
Clay Thompson will play.
He will not be on 100%.
He popped a hamstring, so they're going to need 20 points out of him.
He's not at his best.
KD. will not play.
People, Steve Kerr saying game 5 or 6 is now likely, who do you like tonight and why?
I like the Raptors.
I think they're riding the wave.
Golden State have yet to convince me that they can even, that they can
beat the, even hang with the Raptors, period.
I mean, think about this.
Game one, the Raptors won in good fashion.
Game two, the Raptors beat themselves.
And game three, the Raptors won.
Yes, dominate.
So right now, the Raptors are really confident.
And they are really good and well coached.
And I just think the world don't give them enough respect.
And I just don't see this Golden State team beating these guys.
telling you, man, they are really, really good.
They're long. By the way, these two teams have now played five times. The Raptors have won four games.
The line tonight is minus four and a half Golden State favorite at home.
You know, here is the interesting thing, though, is, you know, we suspect Kevin Durant could come back.
But does anybody think, first of all, he hasn't played with this team in a while?
Right.
There's always been this.
Kevin Durant gets his.
he doesn't always feel of the Warriors.
He's just the best player in the world.
If Durant comes back, there's a strong likelihood.
It doesn't, it's not perfect initially.
Did you ever plan a good team?
I mean, you were in the finals with the Celtics Thundercaves.
When a star was out and then is inserted back into the team,
it's generally not game one magic.
No, it's not, not at all.
Because, I mean, Golden State was before,
before all the injuries
as far as with Claybro,
before they met up with Toronto,
they was playing at a different pace.
Right.
Steph was struggling
when KD was playing.
You know, he took a back seat,
but Steph was having a horrible playoffs.
KD. got hurt.
Then Steph elevated this game,
so it won't be that easy.
And that's why I get the edge to Toronto
because...
Same guys.
Same guys, but, I mean, it's just,
you know, man, I'm telling you,
it plays a factor to the chemistry.
You got cousins.
coming back off of injury.
You don't know how to, what kind of
rotations you want to do.
It's just a lot of thing changes.
There's a lot of answers with the raptors.
I kind of know what I get in certain situations.
Because of health, there's a lot of questions with the Warriors.
What do I get with Clay tonight?
What do I get with Boogie tonight?
Right.
Exactly.
And I mean, like I said yesterday,
the Biggs have been the on-song heroes.
So tonight, I think, just as valuable,
I mean, just as much as we expect out of Clay,
we got to get something out of buggy tonight.
We have to.
Because Clay, 50% against this Raptors team,
I just, I mean, I don't see it.
He might surprise me, but I don't see them winning this game tonight.
Good stuff, Kendrick.
Perk, good seeing you.
All right, you too, Kyle.
Joy with the news.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, we are expected to see Clay Thompson tonight for game four,
and Steph Curry is excited about that.
Everyone knows what play means to the Warriors on offense.
But Steph pointed out yesterday how vital Clay can be on the defensive end as well.
People fall in love with the shooting and how hot he can get on the offensive end.
But the way that our team plays defensively and then the chemistry that we have and the experience,
he's right at the forefront of that.
And it's a tough adjustment when, like I said, guys who haven't been in that position consistently
in any of these type of moments are throwing into his minutes.
You know, I've been almost kind of joking after the game the other night that now Steph knows what it's like to have to carry a team.
One whole game.
I mean, this is one playoff game Clay's ever missed in his career.
So Steph's always kind of had someone, at least someone there supporting him in those big moments.
You know, this dynasty could end tonight.
Not, I mean, not literally, but if they come out and Clay gives you about 60%, when you pop a hamstring, I mean, Kevin Durant's had some time here.
So Kevin Durant's injury was clearly worse than we thought.
Or it's just not one of those injuries that's that easy to come back from.
Are we sure this is for Clay, a popped hamstring?
I mean, I think they're not going to let him go out there if he's not able to play.
I know he wants to play.
Like, he's made that very clear, and he's a pretty resilient guy.
This is the only playoff game he's ever missed.
But, I mean, it's just like Park just said, no one is 100%.
It's a very long season.
There's a lot of games.
Probably the most arrested is Kauai Leonard,
and he has been running on full steam his entire playoff run.
So he's not at 100% either.
It is amazing.
You know, we think of it.
What was funny about the Super Bowl, I could be wrong on this.
But between both teams, there were only like one or two injuries,
like Cooper Cup was missed.
The NFL teams, Joy, were healthier in the Super Bowl than our basketball teams are in the NBA finals.
You don't think of basketball as a non-contact sport.
82 games than 20 playoff games.
Our Super Bowl football teams were healthier than our basketball teams are at the end.
Well, that's a misconception.
Basketball is a contact sport.
Oh, God, yes.
It's not a collision sport.
And that could be argued as well.
But they are not running into each other every single play.
But it is 100% a contact sport.
And they're not wearing pads or helmets.
Ever see anybody, folks, if you ever go to an NBA game and you go there early
and you see like the announcers and the executives.
There are a lot of former basketball players.
Look at the posture of those six-eight guys.
They've all got bad backs.
Like every old NBA guy in his 50 has bad posture.
That league, they've all got...
There's a lot of wear and tear in your body.
They've all got bad shoulders.
They've all got bad ankles.
They've all got bad backs.
The sport beat you up.
Well, it'll be interesting to see how play bounces back tonight.
So Kevin Durant reportedly isn't the only franchise changing star
on the next radar this off season,
according to Steve Popper of Newsday, New York is expected to push hard for Kauai, but not just because of his game.
Quote, there is a contingent in the Knicks' front office that is enamored, not just with Leonard's two-way talents on the court,
but with the fact that he would bring little drama with him.
If Durant is a soap opera and Kyrie Irving is a viral meme brought to life,
Leonard is a National Geographic documentary without a word spoken.
That's so true, though.
It's kind of a good description of Kauai Leonard.
Kauai Leonard to me is not a New York Nick.
I don't, I mean, obviously this is a possibility, but I don't see Kauai in New York.
You know, it's funny about this, though.
Think about the stars in New York, people that really worked.
Eli Manning, no drama.
Derek Jeter, no drama, not a lot.
Bernie Williams, not a lot of drama.
Now, A-Rod, great, but probably unraveled.
It's like New York creates drama.
A lot of the stars in New York.
have been low drama personalities.
That's kind of interesting.
It's an interesting perspective on it.
The Post also reported that next president,
Steve Mills and general manager, Scott Perry,
are fully expecting to get a meeting with Hawaii.
Oh, they are.
That's the report.
We'll see.
Finally, the Patriots released Austin Safarian Jenkins this week,
which took another post-gronk tight end off the table.
Ben Watson is another one of those options,
but he'll miss the first four games of the year with a suspension.
And yesterday, Tom Brady spoke about how important that group is
to the Patriot's success.
That's got to be a position of strength, even if it's not one player, but multiple players doing different roles.
And, you know, there was times in my career before that where we had similar approaches.
So no one's going to make any excuses for our offense.
We're going to do everything we can to be the best.
We can be a score every time we touch the wall.
And tight-in position is a big part of our offense.
And those guys are going to have to do a great job.
Finally, a weakness in the dynasty.
Do you know what he was doing last night?
He's getting his ring.
It was a ring party night at Robert Crafts House.
They do that once a year where they collect another ring.
Oh, they do that once a year?
Yeah, it's like an annual event.
Every year.
Yeah, it kind of is like an annual event.
The other past tie ends are Matt LaCost, Stephen Anderson, Ryan Izzo, and Andrew Beck.
Watson is the only current member of that group has caught a regular season pass radio.
And that was in 2009.
Look at this.
This video.
I'm sorry for a radio audience.
Look at this video.
Yeah, I've seen this before.
A bunch of times.
It's something.
That's my.
quarterback right there. I mean, he looks like
Thanos. He does,
doesn't he? Isn't it glorious?
Is that Gronky's girlfriend?
Yes, it is. That is
not. Look at those. Those are just
that is right there.
England's got the queen, the royal
family. This is our royal family in America.
The Patriots.
Somewhat dysfunctional at times.
Just like the royal family in England.
Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.

I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark.
Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't
realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.
Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing,
growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast.

Hey everyone. It's Ryder Strong and Will Ferdell from PodMeets World. And now the Podmeets Twirled podcast.
We're two men who were completely clueless to reality TV, who now have covered Dancing
with the Stars, traitors, and we're gearing up for the season finale of Survivor. So yeah,
now we're experts. I know we annoyed a lot of our listeners by our severe lack of survivor
knowledge. That is the point of the show. I'm just going to remind you. I have watched some
Survivor. I obviously haven't watched enough. Did people not like it? Like what was just because we?
Yeah. We'll be recapping the big conclusion in the 50th season from the final attempts at gameplay
to the desperate pleas of finalists to a bunch of ha, ooh, ha, ooh, ha, ooh, again, we are experts.
So make sure to tune at a Pod Meets Twirled for all our Survivor 50 takes. Listen to PodMeets
twirled on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, guys?
This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, The Cliverts Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of
stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out.
Quarterback on office blue of 42.
A rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.

His name is Jason McIntyre.
He founded the big lead.com.
Then we swooped him away to a more glamorous lifestyle.
He is now on our show every Friday.
World Cup's coming up today.
Very excited.
15 minutes.
Women's best soccer players in the world.
France opens up today on FS1.
They'll probably meet the U.S. in the final.
Probably.
Our women play Tuesday.
Our team is full of veterans and experience,
and the French team is super talented and younger,
so very excited for that.
So we do something called tomorrow's headlines today
where Jason, with bizarre cunning accuracy,
tries to make predictions.
Will the Rafters upset the Warriors
and win?
win the title.
Tomorrow's headline today.
Game four tonight.
I think the Raptors will probably win the NBA finals.
I think they're going to win the title.
And Colin, the headline will be yawn.
I'm kind of over it already, aren't you?
I mean, it's been a bad finals.
Let's be honest.
I didn't think the last game had any juice.
I mean, listen, we're talking about the three biggest stories in the finals
involved Drake on the sideline with Steph Curry,
Draymond Green.
We got the owner, minority owner of the Warriors shoving a player.
and Kevin Durant sitting out because he's injured.
Those are the three storylines.
Imagine the Super Bowl, okay?
And one of the biggest stars did not play in the game.
That's what we're looking at here.
Kevin Durant, best player in the NBA, not even playing?
Didn't we have that?
Well, Michael.
Dougherly was out.
Mike, Michael Jordan out of the finals.
That's what we're talking about here.
Like LeBron Bird Magic.
You can't.
There's no, listen, I love basketball.
But I have found myself the other night.
I was sitting there thinking, God, this feels like Sacramento against Dallas.
It just had no juice.
I don't know if it's that bad, but people, when I mentioned putting an asterisk by the title,
people freaked out on me a couple days ago.
And it was one of those situations where when you look at the calves losing to the Warriors in 2015,
people said, well, no Kevin Love and Kyrie.
Those are the second and third best players, okay?
Kevin Durand is the best player.
We established that a long time ago.
If the best player doesn't play, I just, it's tough to get into.
of this game. We're talking about Quinn Cook
and Jonas Jerebko, Colin.
Like those guys are talking points. We're also seeing great
players like Boogie who are not
at 100%. Jeez. Yeah, I mean
it's, now there's something to it. It's been
yawn-inducing. Let's be real. Friday night
game four? Is this mandatory
for you tonight? Or are you kind of? It's funny.
I'll watch it, but it, I don't.
You know, I always try to be a consumer. I don't
feel massive
urgency. I don't feel like I felt
a couple years ago and love
Kyrie LeBron. Yeah, super teams.
Yeah, I mean, that was like I could not wait for the games to happen.
All right, tomorrow's headlines today.
Will KD leave the Warriors in the offseason?
You know, I think it's pretty clear.
Last week here, I said 31 and 1, that's stats irrelevant.
The headline will be match made in Kevin.
Colin, there is a lot of juice.
I've been talking to someone around the team in Toronto,
went with them to the Bay Area.
There is a feeling.
Kevin Durant is needed on this team.
The players know it.
You can see it.
Kevin Durant's really invested.
Look at these numbers.
They're down without him offensively.
And, Colin, when you look defensively, this team is just a, it's a joke defensively.
They're not as good.
No, no, they miss his length.
Kevin Durant gets a bad rap because I don't think he was a great defender early.
Kevin Durant's an underrated defender if for no other reason is length.
Yeah.
And you can't switch on everything.
And they gave up like, what, 123 points?
I mean, the offense has been hurting a bit, but they did score 109 in each game.
That should be good to win.
last year's calves topped 109 only once
and these Raptors are just getting whatever they want.
There's a vibe.
Kevin Durant seriously could stay in Golden State after this.
I know a lot of guys at this network disagree with me.
He's gone.
Colin, are you starting to come around match made in Kevin?
I would never as his agent tell him to take less money
and go to a worse ownership group.
I could never tell my client that.
I could just say, listen, I've, not that I, listen,
I rely on my agent.
I say to my agent, how does it land for you?
If he comes out and says, well, you're going to make less money and work for a significantly worse ownership group, I would advise you, in my opinion, you're better served here for a year.
I think Kevin ends his career elsewhere.
I just don't think today's the day he should go.
It feels like unfinished business.
They lose the finals.
Wait a second.
Wait, you guys need me.
Let me come back, win another championship, and then look elsewhere before depart.
this summer. Tomorrow's headlines today,
which big name star
signs with the Knicks? Oh boy, Colin.
A month ago, it looked great, right? Oh, we got Zion. We got
Duran, Kyrie. Right now, the
headline will be New York
Nixed. Oh, and James Dolan looking very
forlorn there for the Knicks. And again, seriously,
a month ago, oh, well, we got Zion in the lottery
and Durant wants to come here. You saw
the Kyrie Irving stuff that's popped yesterday.
He's hanging out with Brooklyn Nets up in the
club. I've been saying
for a while on this network,
Kyrie Irving has been texting
Nets players all season.
There is a connection there. Is he going to go there?
Who knows it's fluid? But right now, the
Knicks could be in the mix. Remember when you
did a worst case scenario?
Maybe a week ago on free agents?
It's starting to feel that way for the Knicks, Colin.
Hey, this morning,
and I strongly believe this, and I said it
on Monday,
people that I trust are telling me,
Kyrie has told Brooklyn, I'm coming.
That's why Brooklyn yesterday was willing to give up two first round picks.
And they did that because Kyrie has told them, I'm coming here.
By the way, Kyrie had an Instagram post yesterday where he talked about there's no place like home.
I think Kyrie has told the nets I'm coming.
That gave them the confidence to move two first round picks out getting another max shot.
Now, it's unclear who they'll get Jimmy Butler will be in the next.
I think that's, dude.
As we've said on this show before, Jimmy Butler and Kyrie are tight.
I personally don't think Kevin Durant would want to join Kyrie Irving.
I agree with that.
It just doesn't really make sense.
I'm in the minority, but I agree with you.
And then Kauai Lenners not going to Brooklyn.
I don't see that happening.
I think Jimmy Butler's the landing spa.
I think Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving.
Listen, the Nets history, they'd be overjoyed with that.
They would be absolutely.
And they would be a top three or four team in the east, especially if Kauai leaves for the clippers.
They'd be one of the more interesting teams, period.
That ownership group wants to be interesting,
because when you're battling the Knicks, the Jets, the Yankees, the Mets,
interesting plays, a big partner.
If LeBron's watching, LeBron, what's playing C and D and E?
Because you guys don't get Jimmy Butler, boy.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
Will the Cowboys give Dak a big deal like Wentz got with the Eagles?
I love this topic.
I can't wait for my radio show tomorrow, at least an hour on it.
Colin, you've heard of the phrase lame duck president.
Yes, yes.
Okay.
I think the headline will be.
lame DAC quarterback.
I know you like to get punny with it.
Listen, you can't give
Dak Prescott $30 million.
Carson Wentz got a lot.
He's established himself.
He was an MVP leader
before the injury against the Rams.
They were 11 and two years ago
and he was going to win the MVP going away.
There's a list floating around right now
of all the $30 million quarterbacks,
Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson.
Well, there's a common thread.
They've all won something.
Jack Prescott has, I think,
one playoff victory.
Like, this is not a guy.
You can pay $3.
million. If you do that, you can just forget about Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott. I don't think
they will pay DAC. I don't see how you can. Well, they have two world-class linebackers.
It feels like you'd have to make a choice on one, and they're both unbelievable. Van der Leh
and Jalen Smith. Now, Jalen's had the injury, so you'd probably go with a guy that hasn't had
the injury in football, and then you'd be giving up a pro-bowl level. You've got Jones, the
corner's unbelievable. Listen, I like Dak Prescott. He's a good quarterback. But when you're talking about
paying him $30 million in that upper echelon.
I don't think he's there yet.
He's a cut above average.
You know, but here's the thing.
If you're Jerry Jones, the bottom line is,
just think, again, how does an owner see the world?
Obviously, Jerry wants to win.
But Jerry's DNA, he's a business man.
Doc makes you.
We talk about Dak, like we talked about Romo.
He's on every show in the football season.
Isn't that the case for whoever is quarterback in the Cowboys?
No, when Quincy Carter quarterback the Cowboys,
I wasn't talking about the Dallas Cowboys.
He's not Quincy Carter.
I think Dak makes them, first of all, when Dak is quarterbacking, they're not chaotic.
They're solid.
They're not.
Goulet goes crazy on this.
But the Cowboys with Dak, you always feel like they won't melt down.
They won't get blown out.
They'll go on the road.
They've got a grown up.
I'm not saying he's great.
I think that's a bit strong.
They won't melt down?
I mean, how many nightmares plays did he have in that game against Seattle?
How many?
That playoff game at home?
I don't know.
I mean, listen, I would sooner roll the dice with a medium backup quarterback.
Oh, God.
With those skill position players, they're loaded at the skill positions.
You can't win in this league with a C minus QB.
Can't.
And it's Trubisky.
You know what you need?
You need to go to Paris, Afil Tower, where Black Sox at the beach, smoke on their hand.
The World Cup is coming up.
France.
Korea next on FS1.

in his four years working here, social media stuff,
and shockingly, what you reacted to the most.
People always say, you're clickbaiting,
you're trying to get clicks.
It's unbelievable what gets attention and what doesn't.
Sometimes it's stuff I would have never guessed.
I just got a sneak peek at some of them.
Rob Parker is joining us.
Odd Couple with Chris Brousard,
Everyday Fox Sports Radio,
teaches sports commentary at USC.
Also host an Inside the Parker podcast on the Hurd podcast network.
So hold on.
The Patriots last night, Rob, I know that you enjoy.
She has a little more class when discussing it.
Uh-oh.
It bothers you deeply that the Patriots, once again last night,
had a ring opening ceremony.
Show the video here.
And it bothers you, doesn't it?
Well, they're just, what, rubbing it into everybody.
here they are, they're big rings.
I hope that they gave Tom Brady a cubic zorkonia ring,
especially when you think that he didn't even do anything to win this Super Bowl.
Colin, no touchdowns, one pick, fumble, had under 200 yards.
That was a parting gift for his career this last championship ring.
By the way, he had, if you're playing 5, 6, 7, 8 Super Bowls,
you do get one off game.
He was better than golf.
No, he was.
But if you were to go on it,
to that Super Bowl and told the Rams that they would hold the Patriots to 13 points and wouldn't
win the Super Bowl. Nobody would believe you. Yeah. It was a it was a chunky sloppy. It was a
dod. It was a dog. Let's just be honest. Yeah, I liked it because it was, yeah. But I get the people
who said it was kind of a dud. Okay. So let's talk about this. You have been on this Raptors thing.
You believe a lot of people think it's a yawn finals. The ratings are way down. You love what the
Raptors are doing. I really do. I think that when you look at what the Raptors have done,
and with the ratings, I get part of it, but I think part of it might be actually Warriors' fatigue,
not like a dislike of the Raptors, but that we've seen this. We haven't had,
five years in a row hasn't happened for a team since the 60s. No, listen, the Patriots Rams,
Super Bowl number was down. People felt people wanted to see somebody new. They wanted to see the Chiefs.
They would have loved to have seen the Chiefs. I would have loved to have seen the Chiefs
I get that.
No, I do think, listen, the Spurs Dynasty, I was thinking about this driving in this morning.
You know, it was never a rating success, ever.
It never worked with Duncan was young in his prime.
And they had incredibly likable guys, David Robinson.
The Spurs Dynasty, by the way, Alabama's dynasty has not helped college football ratings.
I do think the Warriors did help it, but a fatigue has set in.
I really do.
And the other thing is you don't count the numbers from Canada.
So that's a big knock.
You know what I mean?
the numbers are going to naturally be down.
But what they've shown teams is that it doesn't have to be a super team kind of thing
to be able to win.
Adding one star via trade to what you already had can put you in that situation.
To me, it's like the old-fashioned way, the way that the Raptors have put together a team
that's on the brink, I think, of winning a championship.
I picked them originally in six games.
I don't know.
I'm not as confident as everybody else thinking that,
oh, the Warriors are going to win game four automatically tonight.
I'm not that confident.
Without KD.
And Clay is going to be 70%.
Right.
He's not going to be 100%.
And you saw even with Steph trying to, you know,
chuck up everything he could, you know, he got the 47 points.
And it was still not competitive.
And it wasn't.
Toronto led the whole way.
Yeah.
And it was like always about six or seven.
And then they would right away hit a three or go five points.
And I never felt there's never.
there's never a moment in that game.
I felt Golden State was in control of it.
I thought Toronto looked like the better team all night.
You know what?
There's something to be said.
Toronto was getting easier baskets.
Whenever I watch a football game, watch the first two series,
who's moving the ball more easily?
That tells you they're winning line play.
It doesn't matter exactly what's happening.
But if a team is creating holes, they're winning up front.
And the team that wins up front early generally wins because they want up front early late.
the owner situation.
I came down pretty strong on it.
I thought you were right on the money, spot on.
I'm dead serious.
I thought they should throw him out of the ownership circle
and ban him from the arena.
Now, some people said, you're living in the moment.
He's not a horrible human.
He had a horrible moment.
But this is not real life.
You said it earlier.
It's a country club that you have to be voted in.
It's not just, I have more money than you give me a team.
It doesn't work like that.
Yeah, there's a lot of social.
Silicon Valley money, they did not let in.
Exactly.
So that's not the basis on you being an owner.
And this is the same commissioner.
And I think Adam Silver has to look at himself seriously and say,
wait a minute, you forced Donald Sterling to sell his team over words,
whether you agree with them or not in his own home that were recorded illegally.
You forced him to sell his team.
and now you're telling a guy who actually made physical contact with a player.
In an arena on tape.
In front of everybody.
And you're just going to say, well, he was apologetic.
That should never be allowed because you got fans looking.
And if you're coming down hard on fans and you're telling people you do not touch players, you just don't do it.
You've got to do the same for the only.
Joy brought this up earlier and I think it's an interesting point.
People are saying I'm overreacting.
But I do think you do have to be a little more protective of an NBA player.
Hockey guys are protected by glass, football, baseball players by walls and distance, golfers by rope.
And tennis generally, you know, you're up in this stands.
In the NBA, I can literally, I've talked to NBA players during the game.
Sure.
So I do think as a commissioner, if you err on the side of protecting the players,
physical being.
I don't think, I think that's the side you should always be on.
You should always be a little harsh when it comes down to physical contact.
You know, I supported the players and the malice in the palace in the palace.
I got, it's the most hate mail I've ever received.
And I always said, folks, you're in an arena.
You're in the Coliseum and they're throwing things at you.
What I would be, I would literally be like, I'm throwing punches.
I'm fighting for my life.
It's nine guys against 16,000.
people. Right. I get that, but the only thing that in that situation that was spared, because it was a bad
deal. It was a bad deal. Because there was children and kids in the stands and there were chairs were
being thrown. I mean, it could have really, really been bad. And they were fortunate that nobody got
seriously hurt. But you can't enter the stands. I get it. The throwing, because you, you go up there.
You just said it. There's nine of you and you enter the stands. You don't know what people now. And back then,
there were no metal detectors. You didn't know what a guy had. If he was packing,
heat or had a knife, you didn't. Now everybody has to go through it. So let's segue back to this,
though. You think silver was too light. I think it was too light, and I think this is a situation
where an owner and a guy who has a lot of money, he was worth $2.3 billion,
and you're looking the other way. And I think it sends a bad message. And the Steve Kerr stuff
tells you exactly right. Yeah, Kerr reacted within a minute and was harsh on this owner guy telling you,
I told Joy this this morning.
Steve Kerr probably had to go on one of these dushy yachts
and to suck up to the owner.
Right.
This is the way it works, right?
You know, the owners, hey, they have a summer fling with advertisers
and Steve Kerr has to go and a player has to go for advertisers.
Steve Kerr's probably been on a yacht with that owner before and wanted to throw up.
Yeah, I mean, so this is the way it works.
You have these summer yacht trips and all these.
And this is different for Adam Silver.
It's usually a player's commissioner that he's
siding with an owner in this case.
Listen, man, this punishment thing for these commissioners, it's not easy.
Social media has made it really hard.
Finally, you're going to bang on Steph.
47, 8, and 8.
Steph's unbelievable.
Wasn't enough.
And you noticed, Colin, going into that game.
He had to get somebody else along with him that we've seen these big games by guys.
Normally you don't win.
normally that's not the winning formula
and maybe he felt compelled
early on to try to keep them in the game
but if he couldn't get somebody else
involved nobody else could hit a jumper
no I get it I just
I thought I thought it was empty to me
it just didn't it didn't resonate
if you win that game you're telling me
you're a different kind of player
that you don't have Clay you don't have KD
in a must win game
well if I took off you Joy Gouley and Tui
I'm sitting here yelling in a studio
doesn't he have to have some help
No, I understand he has to have some help,
but I think sometimes we make a big deal about stats and numbers.
And to me, they don't always add up.
To me, sports has a short menu.
Wins and losses.
Those are the only two things that matter.
And you know what?
Steph lost.
And you're blaming him.
Yeah, because you know what?
Had they won, he would have gotten all the credit.
Is that not fair?
Well, if they were to won, we would be ranting and raving about how great Steph is,
Look at what he did.
Oh, my God.
He's one of the greatest players we've ever seen.
And when he loses, people go, well, what do you expect?
Same thing I always just say with the Fab Five at Michigan.
You don't expect them to win at their freshman, sophomore.
No, wait a minute.
Had they gone to the championship and won the game, you would count it, wouldn't you?
You'd say it's the greatest win by five freshmen ever.
And then when they get there, you say, well, you can't blame them.
They're only freshmen.
They got to the championship.
Why can't they win?
You have a very harsh view of life.
Rob Parker, my friend,
odd couple with Chris Broussard, Fox Sports Radio.
Good seeing you, bud.
Always.
Joy with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
So the NBA and Adam Silver announced yesterday
that minority owner, Mark Stevens,
has been banned for a year
and fined $500,000 for shoving Kyle Lowry
and allegedly telling saying,
go bleep yourself to him.
and Lowry gave his reaction to the punishment and some perspective.
The guy said to you to go Blake yourself.
Is that accurate?
Yeah, multiple times.
A guy like that showing his true class and he shouldn't be a part of our league.
I understand that the moment my team needed me.
I understand that there are plenty of fans and kids in the world watching this game.
And me being a grown man, having kids myself,
and I'm a grown man, you know, and, you know, my kids could always go back and see that.
I hold myself to a high, high standard, and I got to make sure that I uphold that.
You know what I think this situation really lacked for me was the main thing that stood out?
It was just a complete lack of dignity.
You know what I mean?
Just watching the owner, watching that guy who we thought was just a fan, Shubb Kyle Lowry.
And then when you find out that it's really a part owner of the,
team.
Good.
It's like, what?
Have you ever asked yourself this?
Hey, guys, there's video all over the internet yesterday about a hockey fight in Boston.
Could all you guys stop being idiots at sporting events?
Women don't get into these messes.
Like, does every guy have to have a couple beers and be an idiot?
Like, you don't see fights in the upper deck with women.
It's really, it's unfortunate because that kind of behavior has just been excused as that's just what happens at games.
And, oh, you know, you just have one.
too many and everyone's yelling and I understand
it's an environment, there's a lot of energy
and there's a lot of animosity and there's
fans of one team and fans of the other and people start
talking trash and that's fine. But
there's never an excuse to put your hands on
someone else. And this to me is the
reason why it's so serious. Having a
verbal exchange with someone is
one thing. And then
there's another line. Like the line
past that is if you start getting racial
or you start getting physical.
Listen, when I watch that video, I can see
the owner yelling something. What's a
amazing to me. Like the touching is obviously the worst part of it. The idea I own an NBA
franchise and I'm going to tell a player to blank himself. What? It's the ultimate. I know how you went
to Harvard. It's the ultimate display of privilege. It is the idea that you have, you are entitled
to behave however it is you please because of what it is that you have. I mean,
that's all there is to it. And my main issue with it is that if it goes to,
the other way and Kyle Lowry
doesn't feel the way that he does as
he just said. Oh, that could have gotten brutal. And he decides
that he doesn't appreciate a grown
man putting his hands on him in that moment.
Everyone's going to be crushing
Kyle Lowry and saying that he doesn't
have control and he acted inappropriately and he's going to get
banned for the rest of the finals. And it's
just, it could have gone so badly
and it's just remarkable to me that it's
an owner behaving like that.
I mean, it's
ridiculous. So Kyrie,
has a low probability of returning to the Celtics, but even if he wants to leave Boston,
the team isn't expected to back out of their pursuit of Anthony Davis, according to Chris
Manix. It turns out the Pelicans are coveting Jason Tatum the most in a potential trade
for AD. Yeah, I would too. Yeah, that's, I mean, that's the main piece. So it would be Tatum,
Marcus Smart, likely, and I don't know. I least the number 14 pick for Anthony Davis.
I'm not giving up Jason Tatum for Anthony Davis because there's no guarantee, I wouldn't do it.
I'm telling you, I think if you bring back Boston's team,
next year. I think they win 55 games and end up in the Eastern Conference finals.
Not sure they'll win it, but I'm not giving up Jason Tatum.
The whole draft is trying to find Jason Tatum.
Right. I mean, I'm not giving up Jason Tatum either.
I don't, I think that you have the core that you need and develop.
Anthony Davis obviously would be a huge piece, but there's no guarantee that he stays there.
And that's really not Boston's way. I mean, that's what Toronto did.
They took a huge risk.
And we still don't know if it's going to, it's paying off today.
But what it's in the NBA finals?
It's the first NBA finals in the first NBA finals in the first.
franchise. So to me it's a success. I think you build towards success. So obviously Anthony Davis
is a huge move, but I think that's too much to give up for someone who you don't have a guarantee
is going to stay. Finally, the Eagles have signed Carson Wentz to a four-year contract extension
that will keep him in Philly through 2024. And Wentz responded to his $128 million contract yesterday.
What's up Eagles Nation? Can't even explain to you how excited I am right now to be a part of this
great city for this many more years. It means the world to me. I want to thank Jeffrey Lurie,
Howie Roseman, Coach Peterson, the entire organization, all of my teammates for supporting me.
It's going to be a fun ride. By no means is the work done. We're just getting started. This year's
going to be special, and I look forward to seeing you guys on Sundays at the link this fall.
Thanks again. God bless. And go Eagles. My favorite to get to the Super Bowl out of the NFC,
Philadelphia. Really? Yeah. Yeah. I think we could see a Tom Brady,
person who went to Super Bowl.
You're recording this, you know, that's now on tape.
Is this on tape?
Yeah.
Yeah, we're actually live by the people who are listening.
I actually think that's what it's going to be.
Philadelphia and New England.
New England again, huh?
I think Kansas City's real close and Indianapolis is real close.
The Chargers are real good.
AFC is really good at the top.
I don't think New England makes us in the Super Bowl is here.
Well, you sound like a Miami fan.
You guys never do, do you?
No, we don't.
Nor do you ever learn.
Sometimes we make the playoffs once every year.
like 20 years.
Joy of the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The herd line news.
All right.
Best for last.
Our top five social moments,
Facebook,
Twitter,
what are the things
over the last four years
we've done,
some songs,
some parodies that you loved
and you hated.
Ross Gasparo,
his last day at Fox.
We're going to pay him a tribute.
That's coming up in five minutes.

I want to bring in our social media producer uh Ross gasmer who is leaving our show let's hear it for
Ross we haven't lost many people in four years but he's wildly talented and this is what happens
when you have wildly talented people we have been able little pat in the back for Ross between our
Facebook and our YouTube and our Twitter accounts uh you run those we have it's I think it's been the
secret sauce to our success, which is a double-digit growth in all of our platforms.
And I tell people, they'll say, you know, how do you think you were able to leave a big
company come over here and I always say our social media is the gateway to us?
And it's amazing.
So you run our Facebook.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and then help oversee our YouTube.
So today, as an ode to you, people often think you're doing this for clicks.
You're doing this for clicks.
First of all, we don't get paid in clicks.
I don't.
But what's funny is what lands with the public.
Are you often surprised?
Because every day during the show, Ross comes out and says,
what do you think about doing these?
And I always say, what's hitting with the public?
What is the public like today?
We have no idea.
When we prepare for our show, I have no idea what you're going to like.
So what you like, I put up on my Twitter and the Facebook.
So you're going to give us today, these are the top five what?
Top five most viewed Facebook videos.
So Facebook is our largest platform.
So those are our biggest numbers.
So these are the five videos that resonated with our audience on Facebook and across Fox Sports the most.
So let's go number five.
So number five, this was the showdown of the century, Colin Cowherd versus Baker Mayfield.
You obviously said some things about Baker that he didn't like.
He came on and defended himself.
And among them was that he didn't celebrate with his teammates.
Let's take a listen.
Did you watch the rest of the?
the game? I watched the whole game. You did? So you saw me celebrate with my teammates like the three
touchdowns before that too? I don't like that. Oh, okay. Yeah. You pulled the one clip of me running
right there to our fans and people that traveled well to that game, first of all. And then you didn't
show the rest of the clip of me going to our sideline. You're acting like I just ran away from everybody.
I'd like you to be with your teammates. Watch the rest of the game. I was.
That got how much? That video got $7.1 million on Facebook. And if you add Twitter and YouTube with
Facebook got over 10 million views.
Wow. I had a sneaky suspicion that that was one of them.
By the way, he is so likable in that video. I'm not, but I love Baker in that video.
But the best thing is that everybody said that he beat you.
That's awesome.
And then obviously everybody resonated with it.
It went to obviously a lot of blogs, embedded it, and got over 7 million views.
Okay, what was number four?
So number four was in May of last year.
You did a top 10 MBA list.
And that got 7.9 million views on Facebook.
The list?
People love lists.
I think that's also why Best for Last does very well on social because it's a list and people love to digest list.
So this got 7.9 million views, but notably, Janice on Instagram, if you remember, he replied to you because he was number seven and with a laughing emoji.
Because I had Ben Simmons at five.
Right.
That's what everybody was sort of the shell shock was that Ben Simmons was five.
I made a mistake on that. Ben Simmons had a great rookie year and then decided to hang out and date a Jenner all summer.
and never shot a basketball.
But I had said Ben Simmons point guard of the future.
By the way, a lot of people were into Ben,
but people thought my Ben pick was absurd.
Right.
But you think Janus posting this elevated our list.
Yeah, I think obviously anytime you can get an influencer engaged with anything you do,
I keep open a tab of all the verified Twitter people that engage with their videos.
So like when Baker and Odell sort of got involved with the thing a couple weeks ago,
I was able to see that, that I didn't have to search through.
everything. So there's always a verified list of people that you can see if they engage with
your content. Okay, number three. So number three was this was May also of last year, LeBron,
in the finals. You didn't say that he was better than Michael Jordan. You just said that he faced
tougher competition. Let's take a listen. It's time for Uncle Colin to give you a history lesson.
I didn't watch 1993 playoff basketball on YouTube. I was 27. I actually watched the games,
all of them. In 1993, you were facing
high-end playoff teams in the east with zero or one elite shooter.
It was a less skilled era.
Back then, if you could hit a three, you were called a three-point specialist.
It was a thing.
Now it's a requirement.
Nine of the ten players on the floor that LeBron is facing can hit a three.
back then nine of 10 players on the floor.
We're not allowed to take a three.
And that got how much feedback?
Nine million views.
On Facebook only.
So the secret sauce is LeBron.
He's consistently the number one topic, regardless if he's in the playoffs or out of the playoffs.
I believe totally in that, by the way.
Everybody now can shoot.
You have to go out and guard.
You used to be able to half 90% of the guys.
Well, everybody could shoot because they took the hand check out of the game.
Yeah, but back then you could just go, all right, go ahead, take a job.
Dumber. Now you have to go out and guard guys. They make one dribble. They're past you on the way to the deck.
I think years ago, I think the game is way, athletes are bigger, stronger, faster.
Let's reboot this for Monday. Okay. So that says 9 million just on Facebook.
What did it get with the other stuff? Does it matter?
I mean, probably not, but probably in the 10th, double digit million views.
Okay. Second biggest thing in the history of your social media producing career.
So Nostradamus, Levar Ball, came on in June of last year. He called that LeBron was
going to come to the Lakers,
but he was kind of wrong on the second part.
Let's take a listen.
I don't believe LeBron's going to be a Laker.
I know he's going to be a L.A.
Brake.
Listen, LeBron comes here.
It's about LeBron.
Does he puncture Lanzo's growth?
No.
You don't get my son the best players in the world.
Don't think he's going to win.
You put Lanzo,
Jello, and LeBron, you win a championship.
And that got what?
10 million views.
On Facebook.
On Facebook.
I would have never guessed.
Well, technically he's not wrong because they didn't put Jello in.
I will say this.
Maybe that'll be the offseason.
LeVar, for as crazy as he is, hits on a lot of stuff.
His son's the point guard for the Lakers.
It's not like he didn't have access.
Okay, so the number one thing, you told me I was going to be surprised by this.
Yeah, so the number one thing, and we look at all the data,
we talked about the biggest stars, was a parody song that we did.
in 2017
Eli Manning was having the worst season of his career
he actually got benched for Gino Smith
You gave out an emotional plea for Eli Manning
Let's take a listen
They've got to make a change
At their quarter band
He used to be so great
So great
Okay wait not that great
But kind of good in 2000 days
Each time that he left go
I feel sad inside
And that is our most
Yeah, it's 11.2 million views
And I believe across all Fox Sports
That's like a top five all-time video
On the history of Fox Sports
Yeah, Facebook page.
It's incredible.
Now, is there, you know, my favorite moment
Right.
Was my favorite song, it was so awful
was the Colin Kaepernick song?
Yeah.
How did that do?
Comparatively, not as well.
How many did you get?
I believe it was 97,000.
That was your favorite, huh?
That was it done.
Yeah, not.
Do we have that?
I believe so.
This is my favorite thing we ever did.
This was before he was like a social thing.
This was just when he got benched being a Niners quarterback.
You hear it was.
This is awful.
Goodbye, Conca.
This was 2015.
I don't know
getting a star
your coat thinks you're worse than
former Jaguar
So bad
I don't know why this wasn't a hit
And it seemed to me
Gets worse
You put your life like a candle
In the stick
Never know
You would have passed to
Oh God
When the blitz came quick
Oh this is
The whole it gets worse, listen
And I would like to go for two
Instead of kids
but I was always terrified
You'd throw the big big six
Yeah
That was our worst
It didn't do
It just bombed
Yeah
Comparatively yeah
But that was 2015
So page wasn't as big
So
You've been great
Thank you
Ross is a guy
Behind the scenes
When we do this show
People don't see a lot of
Our morning meeting
In fact just recently
the athletic, the new subscription website, filmed our morning meeting.
We don't like letting people in because Armand Katae and I respect him so much.
We put him in.
And it's a vital part of our process.
We argue, yell, tell jokes, and we lean heavily on people like Ross, who lives in a world
that I don't have a ton of time to spend on.
But with all my heart, you have been the gateway to our success.
When I go out in the airports and I travel and I'm in restaurants,
teenagers, anybody 18 to 30 always knows me from Facebook, YouTube, then the other stuff.
So my friend, you've been absolutely great.
Thank you.
Thank you to everybody.
You joy.
Let's hear it for us, Gassmer.
Everybody in the back.
Thank you.
I'm going to.
Yeah.
He's a depressed Laker fan, folks.
You have no idea what he's been battling beyond our show for the last four years.
We'll see you Monday.
Enjoy the big games tonight.
It's the heard.
