We are live in sunny Los Angeles on IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
One hour from now, the herd hierarchy, and the Buffalo Bills are in it.
Joy Taylor is joining me.
How are you?
I'm great.
Good morning.
Good morning.
Eli Manning is benched finally.
Finally, it's time.
It's a good day for Eli.
Let me start with this.
I am from the West and I currently live in the West, but I moved to the Northeast for 11 years and I had a wonderful time.
There were many great things, not counting the weather, of course.
I loved about the Northeast.
One of the things that always struck me, you would never have a Fenway Park out west.
We would just blow it up and start over.
In the West, doesn't matter what grandpa did or what your dad did.
You chase your own dreams.
Out East, you chase Grandpa's dreams and your dad's dreams for you.
The East is about 200-year-old churches and 100-year-old baseball stadiums
and 7,000-year-old private schools and hierarchy and tradition.
There would be no Fenway Park in San Francisco.
We just build a new park.
We don't romanticize yesterday.
We don't have the East Coast's history.
We've got a lot of space and a lot of mountains and a lot of ocean views and people upgrade and move from neighborhood to neighborhood and it's okay.
And out west they would have benched Eli Manning seven years ago, maybe five.
But out east it was hard.
The Mannings are American royalty and the New York Giants a blue blood franchise and Eli is nice and Eli is us.
He's the old church.
He's Fenway Park.
There's great memories.
and we can't bench Eli. Oh, hell.
He's a shot fighter.
God, if he played in Denver, he would have been bench years ago.
If he played in Seattle, San Francisco,
they may have benched him in between Super Bowls.
It's just the way the East Coast is,
and it's an amazing part of the East Coast,
the churches and the prep schools and the history and the family trees.
And it's wonderful, and it's been holding the New York Giants back for half a decade.
It's time.
The Giants benched Eli today.
It's time.
Number one, this is a perfect time.
He's 116, 116 is a starter.
He doesn't have a losing record.
So you don't bench him with a losing record, and this Giants team was going to go 3 and 13.
So when you look back in 30 or 40 years, and that matters to people out east.
Ah, 116 and 116 and 2 Super Bowls, and he beat Brady both times, and he's getting into the Hall of Fame.
Maybe at least he's getting votes.
It's perfect.
You don't want him to go 3 and 13 off a 5 and 11 season.
off a three and 12 season?
This is dignified.
He can now be a mentor for the next 14 weeks.
He can be a classy mentor.
Don't go to Jacksonville, Eli, for a conditional seventh round pick.
You and Tom Coughlin can hang out in Jacksonville someday in a golf course,
have beers and talk about the good old days.
It's perfect.
This is just the East Coast.
They struggle with this.
They struggle, you know, tearing down the 200-year-old ballpark or church
or neighborhood or replacing a quarterback that's been done for five, six years.
Think about this.
The Colts got over Peyton Manning.
The Giants got over Eli Manning.
And Daniel Jones, it's a perfect time for him.
Look around the league.
Kyler Murray's a baby and Josh Allen's a baby.
And it's all working.
The transition from college quarterback to NFL quarterback has gotten significantly easier in the
last five years.
because so many of the college concepts are being accepted now.
They weren't years ago in the NFL.
So we're just taking college quarterbacks and saying we're going to use 70% of your college offense.
And heck, out in Arizona, they bought the college coach with them.
That's the new NFL.
And it's where everybody's working.
Lamar is working.
I thought Lamar was a project.
Not even a prospect?
I thought Josh Allen was a project.
I'm watching them this weekend.
I'm like, he's better than Eli.
Why? Daniel Jones doesn't inherit a mess. They're really not.
Daniel Jones gets an offensive line. They've invested a lot of money in.
Evan Ingram's an emerging, excellent tight end. When Golden States back, they got real wide receivers.
Saquan Barclay's a star, and Pat Shermer's a very good offensive coach.
This is not the Miami Dolphins here. Daniel Jones will move the chains.
This is a lot better than Josh Allen got as a rookie. It's certainly better that Josh Rosen's gotten in his first two jobs.
It's better right now than Kyler Murray has.
And Kyler Murray threw it for 350 yards.
But the East Coast, and I loved it.
I just soaked up all the tradition.
I went to all those hogwort private prep schools.
I'd go on tours to the Dinosaur Museum at Yale.
I went to all the stuff.
I put my arms around it.
I went to Nantucket, the museums, and I loved it.
But I prefer being able to just tear stuff down and start over if it's crappy.
and sometimes old is crappy.
It's not awesome.
I didn't go to the old crappy buildings out there in museums.
I went to the cool new ones.
I had a choice.
And so did the New York Giants.
You got to move off him.
It's wrecking ball time.
Let him be a mentor.
It's respectful.
It's dignified.
The first time you did it was a little rocky.
But now it's time.
I mean, you're going to see him get,
you want to see him get beat by 30 by DAC again.
You want to see him get humiliated by Carson Wentz again?
or Russell Wilson, or Aaron Rogers, or all Jared Goff or all these new young quarterbacks.
I mean, this morning I looked around and I was looking at the ages of some of these quarterbacks.
This is the new NFL.
Goff is 24.
Dak is 26.
Wens is 26.
Mahomes is 24.
DeShon Watson's 24.
I mean, outside of Mitch Tribisky, there's not only a bunch of new quarterbacks, I like all of them.
I mean, they've all got little holes.
Kyler's a little small for me.
You know, Wence gets hurt a lot.
Deshawn, I cross my fingers.
Gough sometimes I wish he was more athletic.
But it's a perfect time for Eli,
and it is absolutely perfect time for Daniel Jones.
This is not the Miami Dolphins.
There's real players here.
And by the way, the Giants have to get some stuff figured out.
So now you move in Daniel Jones.
Let's figure out.
Can Daniel Jones play?
Because this is not an offense that needs to be totally rebuilt.
And also is Pat Schumer the right guy.
And the minute the New York Giants,
the minute they selected Dan.
Daniel Jones at number six and told us how great he was.
Our scouts, he's the best.
Okay, now, now you told us Daniel Jones was great.
We didn't think so.
You did.
So now you're being completely dishonest watching Eli play,
watching a young kid Josh Allen beat you at home this weekend by not going to Daniel Jones.
So you can at least be honest, authentic, and ethical.
because you told us Daniel Jones was great,
and all of us said you're nuts.
But if you're truly honest, authentic and ethical,
and you think he's as good as you claimed
and the draft pick you selected him at,
then you have no choice than to play him.
Because A, we know Eli's a shot fighter,
and B, we're watching all these young guys work.
When's the last young guy that didn't work in this league?
I'll tell you, Paxton Lynch.
Of the last 20 guys drafted in the first round
at quarterback young guys, 19,
and I don't love Trubisky,
are winning games or at least productive.
So you trapped yourself when you drafted Daniel Jones,
you trapped yourself.
Because you keep telling us how great he is,
and then we watched him in preseason,
and it was pretty great.
We'll play him.
Congrats to Eli on a remarkable career.
You know, second, third time he's available.
He'll get some Hall of Fame votes, who knows?
And Daniel Jones, I was not watching.
the Giants game this weekend. I am now. I'm watching it now. Win for the NFL, win for the Giants.
By the way, also in New York last night, there were two bad football teams. One had an excuse.
The New York Jets were on their third quarterback. They didn't have their best defensive player,
arguably C.J. Mosley. They didn't have their number one pick, three defensive starters out.
Their tight end still out with a DUI in the offseason suspended. The New York Jets were missing
seven starters. Seven starters. Yet they won time of possession, had more yards rushing,
almost as many first downs, and they were both equally inept on third down. This game should
have been, this should have been the Patriots and the Dolphins. End of the third quarter,
if the Jets get a first down, they were trailing 16 to 3. Lavian Bell got a swing pass.
If he gets a first down, they at least get a field goal and it's 16 to 6. If they get a
first down on this play, FS1 viewers.
They're getting points out of this.
We got ourselves a football game.
How?
How?
The Jets were on their third quarterback
and missing seven starters.
Cleveland's offense, you want to know what?
We saw two bad teams last night.
One of them, we know is bad.
The other one is a 24-7 hype machine
known as the Cleveland Browns.
Hey, ESPN announcer, stop calling him
the next Brett Fav.
Through two games, Baker Mayfield has two touchdowns and four interceptions
and a quarterback passer rating lower than Eli Manning who's being replaced today.
They have the most penalties in the league, the most penalty yards,
and their next five opponents are five and O.
Baker Mayfield, since he was named starter in the NFL,
I think he leads the NFL in interceptions, if not he's second.
Jarvis Landry has completely disappeared,
which is remarkable because David and Joe,
their talented tight end had a concussion by the first quarter,
and OBJ had a cramp and left,
and they still couldn't get it to Jarvis Landry,
who had more interest on punts than he did on catches.
Miles Garrett's a really good defensive end,
but he leads the NFL last year in penalties for a defensive player.
He had four more last night.
You know what Cleveland is?
Flashy quarterback, flashy wide receiver,
and flashy defensive end.
They're the guy that owns a Porsche,
has beautiful clothes, expensive jewelry, and three ski boats, but lives in an apartment and has
no savings. All the stuff that really matters in the NFL like coach, Cleveland's below average.
Offensive line, mess. Linebackers, not good. Point of view offensively, no idea. And by the way,
two bad teams last night, one we know as bad and has excuses. The other one, the Cleveland Brown's
next five games. Rams, Baltimore, Niners, Seattle, New England are 10 and 0. And the schedule,
which looked real soft and cream puffy in the end, has a Buffalo team that looks better than we thought,
a Baltimore team that's absolutely better than we thought, and Arizona is at least interesting.
This puppy is about to implode in the next month. The Jets are awful. At least they had an excuse
last night.
Cleveland is just directionless,
undisciplined,
appears to be poorly coached,
and a hot 24-7 hype mess.
All right, coming up next,
the Pittsburgh Steelers sent us two messages yesterday.
Very, very interesting.
And I'm going to retract something I said yesterday.
Very interesting what the Pittsburgh dealers did
and what they did is sent all of us two messages.
And they have earned my respect through the years.
So I'll take back what I said yesterday.
That is coming up.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it.
And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth.
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Time out of my.
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rep, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

to see my friend Russell Wilson. Peter King last hour, Joel Clatt and I are going to get into it.
Some big college football games this weekend. Car Shopping can be confusing. Go to Truecar.com.
It's not. Save three grand off MSRP. Fees, accessories tells you everything you'll pay
before you get to the dealership. So the Pittsburgh Steelers during that awful Monday night football game,
which was two bad teams, one with an excuse, the Jets.
the Steelers made a big trade for Minka Fitzpatrick.
Miami Dolphins now have every pick in the first round next year.
They have 15 picks in next year's draft.
So they at least, you know, say what you want about the dolphins.
At least they have a plan.
I mean, they got a plan.
And so the Steelers get Minka Fitzpatrick, who's a good player.
He's a safety, and he can do a little corner.
He's a safety.
He's a very, very good football player.
They gave him a first round pick and the Steelers never did.
So what were they telling you?
Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers were telling you two things.
Number one, we are giving away.
our first round pick in a quarterback heavy NFL draft because we think Mason Rudolph is our guy,
is our future. That's the first thing they're telling you. There's four legitimate,
maybe five legitimate first round quarterbacks next year in the draft, first round. You're not
getting about a second, and Pittsburgh gave away their first pick. They're telling you,
we like Mason Rudolph. 6.5.2.30, big arm through for 9,000 yards his last two years at
Oklahoma State. They like him. By the way, there's some big Ben there. He is really big,
with a very big arm. He is heavy. He can handle the North winters. They like him. That's the
first thing they're telling you. The second thing they're telling you is, hey, the season's not over.
Our offensive line is still excellent. Our defense, young and talented just added Minka Fitzpatrick.
Our schedules incredibly workable. And our receivers are really, really young. And we're kind
of trying to make it work. But they're talented. This is a very important thing to think about.
teams look at schedules look at the Pittsburgh Steelers schedule this is really remarkable
and I think this goes a long way in the decision to make the trade because you're getting
big Ben is going to come back next year so it's about this year do we think we can win this
year weeks four through 10 for the Steelers this year they have one road game and that road game
is at the Charger Stadium that will be a home game they don't have a true road game
from September 30th to November 11th.
Okay, and their takeaway is,
we can win.
And by the way, after that,
you tell me they can't beat Cleveland, Cincinnati,
Arizona, the Jets, and Buffalo?
They can't beat them with Mason Rudolph?
Listen, Pittsburgh knows their personnel better than I do.
Mason Rudolph's big, strong,
and was wildly productive in college,
and they see him at practice every day.
And I said something on the area,
yesterday that I want to retract because they've earned my respect and this move is telling me,
we watch this kid every day at practice.
He's our future.
This is why we drafted him.
We're going to have to play him sooner than we thought.
Big Ben's coming back next year.
But we're looking at our schedule.
We're looking at our offensive line.
We're looking at our division, by the way, which is, you know, Cincinnati's not real good.
You're watching the Browns last night?
You think they're unbeatable?
And Baltimore's 2 and O, but they beat in Miami and Arizona.
Do we really know everything about Baltimore?
So I'm going to retract this from yesterday.
New England's pretty good.
So Seattle.
Seattle's won eight of nine.
I wasn't going to bail on the Steelers.
But now Big Ben's out, season over.
I would like to retract that statement.
I think the Pittsburgh Steelers, weeks four through 10, no true road game,
winnable games after that, still best offensive line in their division.
A coach who will make the Hall of Fame, excellent general manager.
They've added numerous parts now Minka Fitzpatrick to the defense in a division with Cleveland looked awful.
Cincinnati probably is.
And Baltimore's good, but they've played them 22 times and split 11 and 11.
I never know who's going to win those games between the Ravens and the Steelers.
That was a message last night, Minka Fitzpatrick.
We like Mason Rudolph, and we still have a chance.
this year. Joy of the news.
No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
You've got a little more faith than I do right now, Colin.
I'm still a little skeptical.
Well, the Jets suffered a tough 23-3 loss to the Browns last night.
New York is plagued by illnesses and injuries right now, though, and they're staring
down a road matchup with the Patriots on Sunday, and Adam Gates has been in this situation
before. He knows the team has a lot of work to do to turn things around.
It's a familiar territory for me, so I mean, we got to get better at what we're doing.
I mean, we can play so much better than this and the details of what's going on in all three phases can get a lot better, and it's going to have to.
I mean, we've got a long ways to go.
We've got a lot of practice.
We've got a lot of games.
It's just going back to what we started doing in the spring and make sure we're executing that way.
Good news, Lavian Bell is really good.
thing is they get most of these
they were missing not only players last
night like real good players like
CJ Mosley Quinn Williams Sam
Darnold like they were missing turned in their
tight end they weren't just missing guys they were
missing some of their best guys well with Sam
Darnold being out like you said it it kind of
feels like this is a lost season
if he's going to be out a couple weeks like
it's going to be impossible
to bounce back from that especially in this division
but moving forward to next year
hopefully everyone is healthy throughout
the entire season I feel like the Jets
are projecting forward in two years from now,
would be contenders.
That's just what it is.
Sometimes you just have to develop
and get the right pieces in place and get rolling.
By the way, Joy,
Kyle Shanahan's first year in San Francisco was not great,
and we all knew.
They just need more offensive weapons,
and all of a sudden after two weeks, you're like, okay.
And Jimmy Garapolo.
Yeah, so it's like, you got to remember,
the NFL is getting younger and younger, right?
Like the salary cap younger, younger.
Some of these players are not ready to pop until you're,
there's a cornerback for the Niners.
I didn't like it all his first year in the league from Colorado Witherspoon.
I watched him this weekend, I'm like, dude's a player.
Just took him time to develop.
Yeah, I don't think there needs to be an overreaction to how bad the Jets are right now.
I mean, we were looking forward to this game before the season started,
assuming it was going to be Sam Donald and Baker Mayfield,
and it's not, they have a bunch of other injuries.
So when you have this many injuries, you get a bit of a pass through the situation.
So Jalen Ramsey has requested a trade from the Jaguars yesterday,
and any team that's interested in,
have to meet a very high asking price.
The Jaguars are reportedly asking for at least one first round pick for the all pro
corner, but want a lot more than that in return.
He and head coach Doug Marone had a yelling match on the sidelines last Sunday,
and teammates had to separate them.
Now, make what you will of that.
That does happen.
So if you want to, it's just kind of coincidental, but now he is also asking for a trade.
So maybe that was a lot building up to that.
Right.
Those things happen all the time and they mean nothing.
I mean, I don't know if it was as vocal.
It wasn't as theatrical what happened with Aaron Rogers and LaFleur.
But those incidents happen a lot.
It's just now he's asking for a trade.
It does seem like that relationship is deteriorating.
And let me just say this.
Lane Kiffin told me when he recruited him,
it was the best corner he'd seen in a decade.
Jalen Ramsey is a really incredible player.
If you're a really good football team and you don't trust your corners,
I don't think there's a player guaranteed to be better in the first round next year than Jalen Ramsey.
Now, I got to be honest with you.
But you also have to pay him because he is going to be a free agent in 2021 and they picked up his 50-year option.
Okay, fair.
But even New England pays Stefan Gilmore.
You've got to pay somebody.
Right.
Right.
So he's got to go to a team.
In my mind, go to a team that is a stable, a contender or needs an extra piece on defense.
They feel like their offense is set.
You need an extra piece on defense.
I would love to see him with the Chiefs, actually.
I don't know that the money for him.
I don't know, but I'll tell you, Jalen Ramsey is one of those players.
If I was a coach and I had a good team and I trusted my environment,
Jalen Ramsey is, there's just not many people on the planet with that size that can run like that.
He was the best high school corner.
He was the best college corner.
I mean, he's all pro.
He's great.
He's great.
And he's 24 years old.
So if you do trade for him, like you said, you're not going to get a, if you need that position, right?
You're not going to get a better first round pick than him.
No. Forget the later round picks, who cares. And pay him. Like, rather than trying to find
that Jalen Ramsey in the draft, pay him. You know what you're going to get. Lock him up for the
next couple years in his prime and you're set. Yeah, no, he's worth the risk to me.
Yes, and, like, he's worth the money as well. And he clearly feels like he needs to get paid
showing up the training camp and a brink's truck. Finally, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys look good
in their two-no start to the season. This weekend got a little easier for Dallas because they
host the Dolphins. And according to Fox Bet, the Cowboys'
the Cowboys are favored by 21.5 points in Sunday's game.
In the history of Vegas, the old rule in Vegas is, once a line gets over like 14,
you always take the points.
I think Miami's the exception in my life because I think Dallas could name the score.
And by the way, this is nothing personal, but Miami is telling you, we've got a game plan here.
We're going to get really young.
We're going to accumulate first round picks.
And I wonder when you completely lose the locker room.
So then, because if you have a bunch of guys that play hard, you can make games competitive.
How many quarters are you away from guys just quitting?
Well, that's so that's always my struggle with these lines also.
It's like, okay, the organization is clearly tanking, but the players and the coaches are not.
With a film.
At any moments, these are still professional players.
And they have pride and they're not trying to put bad tape out there for next year.
Yeah.
So at any moment, this could turn not to the point where I think they have enough talent to beat the Cowboys on the road.
But, I mean, that's a lot of points.
The Patriots are also big favorites at home over the Jets with 20.
That's like a college.
That's a college line.
You see that in college 40 times a weekend.
Yes.
And 22.5 for the Jets at home for the Patriots is a lot too.
God.
I don't know.
It's like Clemson's line.
When you see what Baker just did to them, it's kind of, I don't know.
It's a big line, though.
I enjoy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly News.
Former Raider and Brown head coach.
Hugh Jackson, good to have him on the show again.
Let's bring him in.
Opportunune time.
There's all sorts of stuff happening.
We got injuries with Big Ben and Breeze.
Eli Manning.
I actually think, Coach, Hugh, I actually think it's perfect.
I'm a West Coast guy, but I lived in the East Coast for 11 years,
and there were 100-year-old baseball stadiums and 200-year-old churches.
The East Coast is tradition and hierarchy in prep schools, and I loved it.
I think out west, we would never have a Fenway Park, and out west we would have benched Eli three years ago.
But there is a tradition.
There is a dignified way in the east.
And I think New York's a city with those 100-year-old churches.
Great respect for the Manning family.
I think this was hard for them.
And I think they knew a year ago that's why they went and got Daniel Jones early.
Like, I think it's the right time, is it?
Colin, there's no question.
I think haven't been in those situations before, you have to do it the right way.
You said it.
I think they did that.
I thought they gave Eli an opportunity to show what he could do,
knowing they had a very talented player that they drafted,
that had a great preseason that the players believe in,
and it didn't work with Eli early.
So now is the right time.
I think Coach Schumer is doing the right thing by playing Daniel
and giving him opportunity to run this offense and run the team.
By the way, he had a great college quarterback coach, David Cutcliffe.
He is somebody Duke.
I imagine he's smart enough to learn the play.
Absolutely.
And I got to be honest, I first noticed Dak in the preseason.
It's easy to scoff at the preseason, but you watch some of these young,
that's where Russell Wilson won the job.
Yes.
That's where Dak won the job.
I don't think the Giants, I look at their offensive pieces.
I don't think it's a loss cause, Hugh.
No, I don't think so neither.
But again, I want to give Coach Schumer kudos,
because I know what that's like to have a locker room,
to have a guy that's kind of an icon.
when you talk about Eli Manning, you know, who's won Super Bowls for that organization.
And Jeter personality.
Absolutely.
Just been a real classy guy.
He's been awesome.
And so you owe him the right to do it the right way.
And I think they did that.
So now it's time to move to the next phase.
Daniel Jones is going to have an opportunity to put his stamp on this organization.
So, you know, I said to start the show.
And I am always cautious whenever I've been Greg Jennings on to not just talk Packers or you to talk Browns.
But I said sometimes with Cleveland and John Dorsey, I feel like they're the guy that has a ski boat and a power boat and jet skis but lives in an apartment.
It looks great from the outside, but the priorities are messed up.
I'm looking at that Cleveland offensive line, Hugh, the jets were down players and Baker was running for his life.
He took two huge shots.
I got to be honest, Hugh, I don't, it's not just, it's, you know, I'm not going to pick on Baker because he made some great throws.
You've seen the schedule for Cleveland.
It's nothing but Aaron Donald's the next four and five weeks.
Is that offensive line fixable in this season for Cleveland?
Well, we're going to find out here pretty soon.
I think obviously they're doing everything they can to help Baker be the best he can be, first and foremost.
Obviously, the line is an issue right.
It is.
They need to do whatever they need to do to get it better.
And you just said, one thing I do know about John Dorsey, he's going to scour the waiver wire to
find out if there's somebody out there that can help them on the offensive line.
But normally, you've got to play with what you have.
Well, that offensive line, there's not a lot of great O-Lyman available.
You know, these days, Hugh, the way it works is practice.
In my life, I never worried about offensive line.
Right.
The deterioration of O-lines in the last five years since the last collective bargaining agreement,
it's noticeable.
There's a handful of great ones and then just a lot of cross-your-fingers.
Right. Cleveland's across-your-finger's offensive line.
There's not much out there.
Is Baker athletic enough to be able to run around for the next six or seven weeks?
How do you think Baker is at his best?
I think he's at his best when he is outside the pocket.
There's no question because he makes a lot of uncommon plays that way.
But I think it's going to be really important when you're playing those teams.
They're not going to let him escape outside.
No, New England will not.
Yeah.
They're going to keep this guy in the pocket and make him throw for them pocket.
So the offensive line, the running backs, the tight ends, as far as past protection,
they're going to need to improve.
Okay. Let's talk about the Steelers of the Minka Fitzpatrick deal tells me they like Mason Rudolph.
Absolutely.
And it tells me they're looking around their division and their schedule and they're like, this season's not over.
That's what it told me. What does it tell you?
It told me the same thing. I mean, especially when you know next year there's a host of young quarterbacks that's going to be in the draft.
And they just gave up their pick.
Absolutely. And so it tells me that they believe in Rudolph as a quarterback.
They like Fitzpatrick because they got a chance to bring this guy in and add to a very,
young defensive football team right now.
Absolutely.
And they're probably, like you said, looking at their schedule, they're on two right now.
They're not feeling good about that.
But, you know, now the young quarterback's going to have some time to practice and really get
to know his personnel even better.
And they have a defense that I think is going to carry them.
They have a running game that they're going to rely on.
They still have a really good offensive line.
So I think Coach Tomlin's going to do everything he can to make this season work.
He's by no chance throwing in the towel.
By the way, you scouted Mason Rudolph.
He's a big, strong kid, wildly productive in college.
Do you like him at all?
Oh, absolutely.
He has a big arm.
He's very intelligent.
Like you say, he's hard to get down, too.
He's not like Ben.
You know, Ben is kind of hard to bring down.
But this is a big man.
And so he is built for the AFC North.
There's no question.
I said yesterday that I don't think there's a huge gap.
Now, this will sound crazy, between Breeze and Teddy Bridgewater.
They both have the number one flaw.
They don't have big arms.
they both are high IQ, coachable, accurate detail.
Not great athlete at this point.
Now, I'm not saying Breeze, especially situationally, isn't better than Teddy.
Gotcha.
But I got to be honest here.
I look at their schedule for the next six weeks.
I think the Saints can win three to four of them.
I don't think the season's lost for New Orleans.
I don't think so neither.
You know, and I think Teddy, I think they're fortunate to have Teddy as a backup quarterback.
He almost is Breeze.
In a way, he's a younger breeze.
I don't want to give him Macon Breeze is one of the best, you know,
in the national football league.
But Teddy is a really talented football player.
And he still can move around a little bit, you know, as you said.
But I think they're defense.
And again, you're talking about a team that's really built the right way.
They have a host of very talented players.
When you talk about Kamara, you talk about the receivers, you talk about the tie it in.
And by the way, Teddy's a distributor.
Yes.
So, I mean, you know, it's really fun.
When Sean picked him up, I remember thinking, oh, this is perfect.
The size, the arm strength, the intellect, it's drew.
Absolutely.
So you have to have somebody that fits in the system.
That's what you want your backup quarterback to be.
You want the guy that if something happened to your starter can come in and manage the game.
He doesn't need to be the starter, but he needs to have some of the characteristics that the starter has.
That is why it's always crazy when you see the pocket quarterback.
I mean, Daniel Jones is Eli.
They almost look alike.
So you've built your team with Eli's talent.
Daniel Jones, to me, is a more athletic younger, Eli Manning.
Yes.
I want to talk about this and end it on this and take your time.
Since the NFL has decided several years ago, we're going to adopt some of this college stuff.
The rules now are changing.
It's an offensive game.
Offensive coaches are going to get jobs easier than defensive coaches.
That's maybe unfair, but that's the reality.
That's what it is.
And I look at this, and part of me, I'm shocked by how good Josh Allen is.
people are talking about Lamar
Lamar was very productive
in the ACC
Josh Allen was in Wyoming
right the gap between
Wyoming and the NFL
I think the Giants lost that game and looked at
Josh Allen and as a staff said
what are we waiting for
Daniel Jones face Clemson
Miami
what do you make of the young quarterbacks
is it just it doesn't feel like they're whiffing
anymore they're all working
kind of, right? No, they are. But you do have to pick the right one, you know, for you.
I think the National Football League, as you said, has kind of moved on, you know, as far as
style of play. These guys who are playing in college have a better opportunity to come to the
National Football League and have an impact earlier in their careers because of the RPO game.
The other thing I think people are finding out that some of these guys are tremendous athletes.
You just mentioned Josh Allen. He is a tremendous athlete.
Did you see this weekend in a Buffalo Giants game, they rolled him out right and had running backs block for him?
Yes.
By the way, five Red Zone trips for the bills this year.
They've scored a touchdown in all of them.
Alan is good.
He's really good.
He really is.
He can run.
He is.
And people didn't know that.
I think that's the unknown about him was that.
Everybody knew he had a big arm.
Everybody knew he needed to improve his accuracy.
Yeah.
But no one knew the type of athlete he was.
And you just go back to last year.
The guy had over 100 yards rushing against the Ravens.
Are you kidding me?
Yeah.
I mean, that's unbelievable.
Hugh Jackson is joining us.
So here we go into, let's go to week three.
New England has looked, New England, Kansas City to me, feel a little above the league.
And Miami and the Jets, let's just talk Miami.
They obviously have a plan to accumulate first round picks.
But if you're owing two in this league, how do you as a coach keep the optimism high?
I didn't like Adam Gase's body language last night, and I didn't like it during the week.
Do you have to be a little bit of a salesman now if you're owing to?
Oh, absolutely.
You know, you have to go in every day and sell, you know, even when things are not going as well,
the body language piece that you just mentioned, not just Adam, but any coach in a national football league,
if you walk in front of your team and you don't give them hope, and if you don't give them belief,
and if you don't lead them, there is a problem that you could be facing down the road.
Yeah.
Hugh, it's great seeing you.
You too.
Some other thoughts on Eli Manning.
And top of the hour of the herd hierarchy, I'll just tell you now the Buffalo Bills made it.
I'm on the Buffalo Bills.
Nick Wright got it before me.
I think it may be the first time ever.
I've got a minute and I'll tell you why that's coming up in Los Angeles, the herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.

Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase
that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing
and we're still chasing it
and we don't know when we've done enough
because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth,
or are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal,
but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

What's up, guys? This is Clever Taylor the 4th.
And on my podcast, the podcast,
Clifford Show, I'm bringing you conversations about all kinds of stuff.
Like being an internet famous referee.
We're in the middle of a game.
This linebacker walks up to me, he goes, hey, ref, my mom wants you to wave at her.
What?
Quarterback on office blue 42.
Hey, rec, my mama want you to wave at her.
What?
Hey, Miss Parker.
Listen to the Clifford show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or

Hey, Discover at Miles card.
Saturday, Michigan at Wisconsin, it's the Discover card key matchup.
Discover.com slash travel.
Matches for new card members only your first year's miles, 35,000 miles on it becomes 70,000
Discover.
Limitations apply.
I always said this in the NBA.
What you don't want to be in the NBA is stuck in the middle.
It's purgatory.
either be a top 7-8 team with great players.
You can sell out your arena, you get to the playoffs, you make good revenue, you're fun to watch,
and hey, if you stay healthy late, you know, maybe you catch a break like Portland this year.
Or you want to be in the bottom four or five where we have a chance to get the next LeBron James,
you know, the next Zion, the next Anthony Davis.
What you don't want to be in the NBA is like 16th, 17th best team in the league.
Because you can't get a top four or five pick and you're not very fun to watch
and you're as an owner and a GM, you feel hopeless.
In the NFL, a lot of the same rules apply.
You don't want to be stuck at quarterback.
You either want to have a great veteran Hall of Fame guy
or you want to have a young guy
and you feel like we can get to a Super Bowl.
What you don't want to be is stuck in the middle.
Cincinnati, Andy Dalton, Tennessee, Marcus Marietta,
Minnesota, Kirk Cousins, Matt Stafford, Lions,
enough to perhaps get you to the playoffs.
Go 9 and 7.
But big games, big moments.
It's a lot of, you're paying them a lot and you don't feel like you're getting.
And when you're paying a guy $7 million more a year than Brady makes, you feel like you're, you know, really, you just, you paid a really high price for a guy.
And if you look at the NFL this morning with the Giants deciding on Daniel Jones, that is now 14 NFL.
teams. Over 40% of the league has their guy. And he's a young guy. And they've picked him in the last
four drafts. And next year, Miami number one's going to take Tua. So that will be 15 teams that have
their guy. Sam Darnold should have played last night. So that's what you want to be. Or you have
Rogers. You have Brady. You have Breeze. But you don't want to be stuck in the middle. And
with the New York Giants, they were stuck in the middle. Think about this. There's nine teams in the
NFL, nine, that are two and no. Three have the Hall of Fame veteran. Six have the young guy,
the Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen. You don't want to be in the Andy Dalton sweepstakes. I mean,
really, Cincinnati this morning. You know you got a ceiling, and it's not that exciting.
The growth period is over. You bring it a new coach. I mean, how many coaches are you going to
run through in Cincinnati? How many coordinators in Detroit? In Tennessee, how many, you've had two,
you're on your second coordinator in two years, and you still can't beat Jacob.
Brissette at home. That, to me, is a bad place to be driving to work. I either want the guy
or somebody that I think has the potential to be the guy. But if you just have the expensive
guy with a ceiling like Kirk Cousins, Joe Flacco, Matt Stafford, I know everybody in Detroit
loves him, but God, what's his defining moment? Nine years in the league, one, one play,
one defining moment. So I think the Giants today made a decision that needed to be made. I understand
and it's difficult.
I think they handled this with,
I think Hugh Jackson summed it up.
They said, listen, we got a guy, we picked him six, he can play.
Young guys are now playing.
We just got beat by Josh Allen.
He's your age.
And Daniel Jones, he's your age.
And we're going to give you Eli a couple of games, and they did.
And by the way, this is something, we talked about this.
Joy and I talked about this.
The New York Giants were prepping their fans for this.
Remember back in May when Daniel Jones got drafted in April.
And all of a sudden, this footage started leaking out.
It was like a music video.
Daniel Jones looked great today.
And it would be these slow-mo passes.
And it was just perfect.
And why did they release that?
Getting you ready.
And then Eli Manning, a report came out in one of the camps.
Eli looked a little rusty.
Nobody saw it, but the story came out.
Getting you ready.
Then they put Daniel Jones in during the pre-year.
season. They kept the number ones in. They played their offensive line three times as many
starts as the Cowboys or the Rams played their offensive line. Why? To protect Daniel Jones,
to get the giant fans excited for Daniel Jones. They were playing their offensive line
more snaps than other NFL teams. So they released the video. Daniel Jones slow motion
throws. It's like a music video. Report comes out. Eli is struggling.
and then they play Daniel Jones, they keep the starters in longer,
they've been prepping you for this.
You know, I'm not saying they went out of their way to look bad,
but I don't think the Giants, I think the Giants won't admit it,
but they know they have a rebuilding situation,
and I don't think it hurt their feelings to look awful in the first two weeks.
This is, I think they wanted to rip the Band-Aid off.
You know, you've had a Band-Aid before,
and you slowly peel it up,
just rip it off, cry for a 30 seconds and move on.
This is the rip the Band-Aid moment.
But I think the Giants knew it was coming.
Eli's too smart not to know it's coming.
And I wasn't going to watch the Giants play this Sunday.
Tampa Giants, I was out.
I've seen that game.
It's not good.
I got better things to do with my life and I love the NFL.
Daniel Jones?
Okay, I'm in.
I want to see it.
That Tampa Bay defense didn't have a pro bowler last year.
I mean, it's not like it's mega talented.
Now, Todd Bowles is their coordinator in Tampa, so he was a former Jets coach.
He can really, but I don't know.
I mean, if you look at the two and O NFL teams right now, Buffalo, Kansas City, Dallas, Green Bay, Tom Brady and the Patriots, Rams, Ravens, Seattle and San Francisco.
It's either a veteran Hall of Fame level guy or a kid you think can be great.
None of those, all those teams have a direction.
Even if the young quarterback's scrapping a little bit, Darnel's not there yet.
You feel like you have a direction.
And this morning, the New York Giants have a direction.
It's fun.
Put your arms around it.
It's going to last for hopefully over 10 years.

I nibble during the show.
You snack more during the show than anyone I've ever worked with.
But it's in small, like you'll get up probably every other break
and then come back with like a little bit of popcorn.
Yeah.
Like a small bag of chips.
I'm a snacker.
You're a grazer.
That's funny.
That's what my wife calls me.
I'm a grazer.
Because we have a table in the back that has a bunch of snacks on it.
Mostly candy and cookies and stuff that I try to stay away from.
Yeah.
But you managed to find some snacks in there.
Well, I'm cowherd.
Cows graze.
So my family heritage, we were grazers.
But you know what?
You stay healthy.
So it's fine.
Yeah.
Everything in moderation.
There you go.
It's good to have you in.
By the way, Eli Manning has been bench.
today. I hate that word. How about this?
The Giants are doing a graceful
segue into their next legendary
quarterback. It's Daniel Jones.
It doesn't even, is it a benching?
I mean, we knew it was, I guess it kind of is.
This is just the way the world works.
I'm going to get bench someday,
and it'll be more, hopefully, a nice
baton toss. I'll be a mentor to somebody.
Eli, don't go to Jacksonville
for a conditional seventh round pick.
You don't need money and you don't
need fame. You just beat Brady
twice in New York,
city in the Super Bowls. So you don't need money, you don't need fame. You don't need branding because
you got $100 million and your last name is Manning. You'll get offers you didn't even have to work
for and just be a great mentor and a classy guy. And this is wonderful. You had a wonderful career.
You're 116 and 116. I don't even like calling it a benching. Like a lot of times fans will call
stuff. Oh, that was a choke job. I've seen choking like once in my life. Greg Norman at the
Masters would admit he choked. Like Greg Norman at the Masters. And I love Greg Norman.
He choked.
I mean, you can't lead by that much, have nine holes to go and lose a golf tournament.
And Greg Norman now says, yeah, I just choked.
I don't like choked.
And I don't like benching here.
It's just a segue.
It's life.
It's like Eli, stick around, 14 games, be a great mentor.
You don't want on your football tombstone.
Yeah, traded to the Jaguars for a conditional seventh round pick.
100 million in the bank, great name, great legacy, Hall of Fame boats,
two Super Bowls, not a losing record. By the way, you only miss one start. That was a benching.
You missed one start and got benched. I don't feel like this is a benching. It's just a baton
toss. And I think the Giants, it took time, but they did the right thing. And I think Daniel Jones
has a chance to be interesting. I mean, all these guys are working. Now, if you're a betting man,
just bet that Daniel Jones works because they're all working. Outside of Paxton Lynch, they're all
working. So my guess is Daniel Jones with Pat Schumer. They've invested money in the O-line. Evan
Ingram, Sequin Barclay, Golden Take comes back, schedule's got some soft spots. They'll be okay.
Not a playoff team, but okay. All right, we call it the Heard Hierarchy. Our 10 best teams,
I spend way more time on this than any man with a real life marriage and kids should.
Here we go.
Heard hierarchy. Time is now. Let's go. The top 10 NFL teams, according to college.
Number 10 is the Buffalo Bills. Folks, they're 2 and 0.
on the road. Now, maybe the Jets and the Giants, but it's winning on the road. And they've
scored a touchdown in all five of their Red Zone road trips this year. Only Seattle said that.
They upgraded wide receivers in the offseason. They needed to try to upgrade their offensive
line. And I think this is the best coaching staff in the NFL that nobody talks about.
We know Kansas City's well coach. We know New England's well coached. We know the Rams are well
coached. We know the Niners are well coached. Buffalo never puts Johnson.
Josh Allen in a position to fail.
This is a very well-coached team.
And I think,
toe-to-to-to, I'll tell you this this morning.
If they played Cleveland this morning, Buffalo'd win.
Because I think, I honestly think this has a chance to be a wildcard team.
I really do.
I think there are nine and 17.
There's some limitations offensively, but I like them.
Number nine.
San Francisco, it was the one team I told you.
I said, it's almost too easy.
I'm stealing money.
They're going to double their wins.
Very creative.
I still have some doubts on Jimmy Garoppolo.
I do.
I worry about his health.
But again, they're 2-0 and 2-0 on the road.
They didn't win a road game last year.
That's called improvement.
By the way, here's the other place they improved.
They already have four interceptions this year.
They had only two last year.
So the two big issues with them last year, lousy on the road, 2-0 on the road,
and could never take the ball away.
They're taking the ball away.
Now, they just had their left tackle out for a while.
Fibula issue.
I don't even know where that's on your body.
But Joe Staley's their left tackle.
He's hurt.
That does not help because I don't want Jimmy Garoppolo getting whack.
But I have the Niners a very young offense, but fun to watch number nine.
Number eight.
Seahawks, Russell Wilson on in 20 minutes.
Listen, the Seahawks have won eight of their last nine games.
This is very much Pete Carroll.
We're going to play defense.
We're going to run the football.
And then we're going to ask Russell Wilson about twice a game to do that like wand magician thing.
and pull out a victory.
By the way, ever notice every wide receiver they attain?
They all work with Russell Wilson.
They're 2-0 for the first time since their Super Bowl year.
So, you know, I was a doubter on Seattle.
I really was.
Their defense was young.
I didn't think they'd overcome Frank Clark to the Chiefs.
So far, they've looked pretty good.
Number seven.
Philadelphia, listen, just because teams lose,
they have an injury bug at wide receiver.
They're going to be fine.
DeShon Jackson, Al-Shon Dreyfreyfrey.
get healthy. They're going to be fine. I just love the coach. I love the GM. I like their
quarterback. I think they have a good offensive line. Here's where I know they're good. There are
third in the NFL in rush defense. They force you to throw the ball. That they got a really good
defensive line. And they're also second on third down percentage. What does that mean? They keep
the ball away from you. Third down, they make them first downs. Philadelphia, well coached,
smartly quarterbacked, well run. I like them. Number six. Baltimore. I got some questions,
but there's one thing I love.
When you have a running quarterback
and he puts himself and he's vulnerable,
sometimes you worry about turnovers.
They don't have a turnover this year.
So not only are they productive,
I'm not seeing a ton of penalties
and I'm not seeing any turnovers.
And here's the thing with Lamar Jackson.
Nine starts is like Dak.
He's 1-8-9.
Dax 1-9-10.
This is about winning.
Now, winning's not the only thing
because sometimes you can mask deficiencies,
Tim Tebow, with winning.
But what I see is an ascending player, a very good coaching staff.
They've added tight ends, wide receivers, running backs, Greg Roman, a coordinator.
I'm not totally sure they're this good, but I like what I see.
I got Baltimore at six.
Number five.
Green Bay, I've said all offseason.
The defense will carry this team until Thanksgiving.
Then Aaron Rogers, Matt LaFleur, then they'll get it worked.
Listen, five takeaways is tied for the most.
the NFL. This organization, two years ago, said we're going to have to pay Aaron a lot of money.
And they started drafting corners and they started going into the free agent pool, which they
don't love to do in Green Bay. And they went and got like Preston Smith and really good players
without paying them a fortune. That defense now is young. It's fast. They're coaching it to be
aggressive. And they're two and oh. And it's been, listen, Chicago and Minnesota are top five
defenses. Don't look at their offense and say it's choppy. Chicago makes every,
everybody look choppy. Chicago's going to make everybody not named Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes
look choppy. Don't hold that against them early. Number four. I'm worried a little bit about
their offensive line depth, but I'll put the Rams at number four. Listen, they're eight and one
at home in the regular season since the start of last year. That's why I picked them against the Saints.
We don't think of the, we don't think of the L.A. Coliseum is a home field advantage, right?
It's just not that loud. It's not Lambo. It's not Foxborough. It's not Philadelphia. They don't
lose at home. They play really, really well. It's a fast track and they're a fast team.
Cooper Cup, we all worried about Todd Gurley. Cooper Cup, I believe, is Jared Goff's key.
Cooper Cup has been instrumental so far. He was huge in the Saints game. And by the way,
only other team that has won as many games in the last two years is New England.
So the Rams are a real team of the real structure.
Number three. Dallas Cowboys.
I still think they have, DAC has only been sacked once.
I still think when healthy, it's the best offensive line in the NFL.
I think they've added really smart pieces.
Listen, they have about eight elite players.
Not many teams in elite.
I don't think New England has eight elite players.
I mean, they've got an elite running back, an elite receiver, elite left tackle, elite
center, two elite linebackers, an elite corner, an elite edge rusher.
Now, I wonder when you pay all those guys,
They're going to have some holes.
You just can't keep paying everybody.
But when I look at Dallas, they've scored nine offensive touchdowns over two games.
You know how many times?
It took them six games to get there last year.
So that just tells you.
The Randall Cobbs, the Michael Gallops, the healthy offensive line, and ascending deck.
This is a real offense.
This is a real offense.
Number two.
Kansas City.
Do you know Patrick Mahomes has only started 19 games?
Why does it feel like he's started?
He's been around for a long time.
Maybe because every game is so spectacular that they all get embedded in our minds.
Listen, they, shocker, number one in passing offense.
They have scored 25 plus points in 23 straight games.
And what you have here right now is you have the best play designer in the NFL, Andy Reed,
with the best quarterback talent in the league Patrick Mahomes.
So I got news for you.
We don't have the AFC.
I'm just going to give the programming director at CBS Ahead.
up. You're going to want to put them on about 12 times a year. Because when you get the play designer
and the all-time quarterback talent, that was like Holmgren and Favre. You just had to watch the
Packers for a decade. That's what they're hoping Lefleur and Rogers come. Play designer
and great quarterback talent. Number one. What category is New England defensively not number one?
They're really good. It's the best secondary in the league. They never get beat over the top. They have
active hard-hitting fast linebackers.
They don't have one elite pass rusher, but they led the NFL last year in pressures.
They make no mistakes.
They don't get penalized.
Brady is so detailed.
I think they have the deepest running back group in the NFL.
The wide receivers with Antonio Brown, you know, it's a work in progress.
But since they haven't been this explosive with Josh Gordon and Antonio Brown and Julian
Edelman, you've got to pick your poison on that.
They're not even playing their rookie.
They're not going to play him until they're.
Thanksgiving. So I think you're really trying to pick apart them. If you don't have New England
one in Kansas City, too, you know, you're trying to pick apart. I get Hall of Fame coaches
and world class quarterbacks. I put New England one because they have a better defense.
And I do think post Thanksgiving, that's going to matter. All right, we got a lot of stuff today.
Texans did not make it. I was way more impressed with Buffalo. I do believe it's the first time I've
had Buffalo in my herd hierarchy.
I don't have a major problem with this.
I'm a little skeptical about Buffalo still,
but it might just be because it's Buffalo.
And Houston, Minnesota, and Atlanta,
I was more impressed with Buffalo.
I'm more impressed.
I don't care who you beat.
You go on the road.
You're five for five in the red zone.
I think that Buffalo staff's good.
Yeah, I mean, you couldn't make that argument for Baltimore.
No one is.
You beat who you play.
I think Baltimore's offense is more explosive than Buffalo.
I think their defenses.
I'd go Buffalo's defense.
but there is something to Lamar.
People are struggling to figure him out.
Only team that's figured him out was the Chargers
the second time they played him.
Right.
So that may, in division, it may take a couple of times.
But if you just get him once, nobody's stopping him.
That's coming up.
Russell Wilson is around the corner as well.

Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person.

Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way,
The podcast, Superhuman, documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.

What?
Come out.

Hey, rep, my mama wants you to wave at her.
What?
Where's she at?
Hey, Miss Parker.

It's champ.
versus champ as Errol the Truth, Spence Jr. takes on Showtime Sean Porter in a world championship
unification bout at Staples Center bus champion. Anthony Derell defends his title against David Benavides
Saturday, September 28th, live on pay-per-view. Spence has never lost a fight. They were both.
They're both middleweight champs with different belts. So that's a real fight. September 20th,
I think it's at the Staples Center, right? It is, yes. Staples Center in Los Angeles. By the way,
I just flew over the new L.A. Football Stadium yesterday or Friday or Saturday?
good? Oh, my Lord. They have cables that now run across the stadium. Those cost, those are 400 pounds
of foot, just to give you some sense of how big those cables are. I read that in the LA Times.
I'm like Siri over here. It's nothing but information. So Russell Wilson's coming up in about 10
minutes. So an NFL executive said anonymously yesterday that Teddy Bridgewater is going to
end up being mostly Drew Brees. And I said this yesterday. I don't think the Saints season is over.
First thing I always do is look at your schedule.
First of all, the Saints defense is good.
Their offensive pieces are good, and their coach is really smart.
Teddy Bridgewater is not Breeze, and he won't be as good as Breeze in certain situations,
but he's about as close to Breeze as the league has.
If you look at the next four games for the New Orleans Saints,
four of them are Tampa, the Jags, the Bears, and Arizona.
You telling me they can't win those games?
My guess is they go three in three or four and two.
and by the way, the silver lining in this is Drew Breeze was tired at the end of last year.
His arm was tired.
He gets six weeks out of practice.
Tom Brady, the year he was suspended for four games.
The silver lining was Brady in December didn't have that gradual dip he had had a previous year or since.
Brady tends to get into December and you kind of worry about if he's kind of has
deteriorating arm strength.
Silver lining is
Breeze gets six weeks.
He'll come back in Thanksgiving.
I don't think the Saints are out of it.
In that division, I picked Atlanta to win.
I think I picked him at 9 and 7.
I think 9 and 7 wins that division.
I don't think any of those teams are great.
I think Atlanta's the best if they can stay healthy
of a bunch of, you know, maybe they make the playoffs
won and done.
They're out.
Trent Dilfer was on yesterday.
He agrees with me.
Breeze and Bridgewater, one's clearly better,
but Teddy's a lot like Drew.
You've seen Sean Payton kind of remake this team as Drew's gotten older, and they're much more of a running attack, intermediate passing game, march the ball, winning the time of possession battle.
They've remade their defense, and it's a pretty good defense.
I think they can definitely survive the six weeks without Drew Breeds.
That's kind of it.
Like Jacobi Brissette, now you don't have a choice, but I always said Jacoby Brissette's the perfect backup.
He's willing to be a backup,
and if Andrew Luck missed two games,
you could win one of them.
I think Ryan Tannahills better than Marcus Marietta.
That becomes a problem.
I think Daniel Jones is better than Eli.
That could have become a problem.
But I think in the case of Bridgewater,
six games, can he go three and three?
I look at the schedule.
I would be shocked if Teddy Bridgewater,
who, by the way, got Minnesota to the playoffs.
You got Auburn Camaro,
Michael Thomas, above average offensive line,
Sean Payton.
It's not like, again, this is a veteran guy, coachable with a brilliant offensive mind.
I think the Saints, I feel better about the Saints today than I do with Carolina and Cam.
I feel better about the Saints today than I do about the Steelers.
I mostly do too.
You were lower on the Saints coming into the season, though, than I was.
Yeah, that's right.
Joy with the News.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the News.
This is the Herd Line News.
Oh, the Patriots.
The Patriots have already put up two dominating performances.
against the Steelers and the Dolphins this season.
And their convincing wins are starting to draw comparisons
to the 2007 New England team
whose only loss was in the Super Bowl.
One of my favorite moments is a sports fan.
I've never rooted harder for a team
that I didn't traditionally care about
than I did for the Giants in that Super Bowl.
Like nothing mattered more to me
than the Giants not, like keeping the patients
from being undefeated.
I don't know if we can be friends.
A Dolphins fan, like that's literally all we have left.
I think I threw up about.
10 minutes after that game.
It was a wonderful.
That was the only New England team ever.
Everybody thinks I'm a fan.
That was the only New England team I rooted for.
Like I was really like, okay, I'm tired of the dolphins talking about their perfect season.
This team, I was like over that.
I was like, that was like New England when they go into the Super Bowl last year.
I live in Los Angeles for the Rams.
I'm like, if they win they lose, that one I rooted for.
That one hurt.
That was in Phoenix, wasn't it?
Was it?
Yeah, it was Glendale.
I think that was the Glendale.
I think that was the Glendale Super Bowl.
Well, Tom Brady insists the Patriots do not care about an undefeated season.
I think if you look at our team over a long time, you know, I think we, you know,
to think about something that's going to happen two weeks from now,
three weeks from now, five weeks from now is irrelevant.
You'll have plenty of time to think about those when that's a real reality.
I mean, that's so far from what a reality is.
You know, you're not going to live your life going through hypothetical situations.
I actually believe him.
That's not something that I think he cares about, especially since he's already lived it.
But it's also not something I think any team aspires to.
Like, you know you're going to lose games.
Your goals, obviously, to win all your games.
But to go into a season, like, we're so good, we're going to be undefeated.
That's college stuff.
You know what I think he cares about?
What Tom really cares about?
We stay healthy.
Right.
Yeah, that would be consistent and that we stay healthy.
Yeah, I mean, maybe a rookie quarterback undefeated care.
I think guys like Brady and Breeze are like,
if you promise me my offensive line, I have no injuries.
I'll take that and take two losses any day of the week.
Well, because who cares about that undefeated season?
You lost the Super Bowl.
So it's real cute.
Like, enjoy that regular season trophy or championship.
But nobody cares about that, especially the Patriots.
They're about actual trophies.
And they are going to be facing Luke Falk this week.
Because Trevor Simeon is out for the season.
I think we know how that.
With an ankle injury, the line was 22.5.
So we'll see what happens there.
But I think you can safely put a little W next to that one.
That's Clemson against Boston College.
I'm putting a W on the schedule.
So Minka Fitzpatrick requested a trade from the Dolphins.
And last night, he got his wish.
The Dolphins traded Fitzpatrick to the Steelers for a 2020 first round pick.
Miami continues the stockpile draft picks.
They have three in the first round next year after this trade.
And 15 total.
At the picks that they have.
Yes, they have a lot.
Okay, we can make fun of it.
them. But they, you got to give them this, though. They have a plan. Like when people file for
Chapter 11, you always think, oh, that's so sad, but mostly it's a reorganization of assets.
Like, all Chapter 11s are not sad. Like Miami's saying, we're crappy. Let's just get young
and find a, they're going to get Tua. They're going to find a quarterback and get, yeah, I think
I'd actually prefer they get Jalen Hertz. But here's the thing about the dolphins. And while this,
this is a lot of picks, and they could trade some of these away for veteran players,
they're going to be so young for so long.
Well.
So even if you do hit on half of these picks, which would be incredible,
right.
You have a very young team.
Okay, but young means cheap, and that means I can go buy Jalen Ramsey.
Like, if you're that young, then you will have the money to go because you're not paying your quarterback anything for a while.
Well, you better hope that someone like Jalen Ramsey, for example, wants to come and play there because they're not going to be good next year.
I think if they get Tua, because you're going to watch him play in the national championship,
I think Tua, it's like Kyler Murray.
Guys are like, kind of fun.
I think he'll change the narrative on Miami to fun.
I hope so.
I'm very, very skeptical about how all this is going to go.
Finally, Odell and the Jets defensive coordinator, Greg Williams,
exchanged some jabs leading up to last night's game.
One of the more notable this is was Williams responding to a,
that's your opinion, to a question about Odell being a dynamic player.
And after the game, Odell and Baker Mayfield gave their thoughts.
on that particular comment.
Who's your feelings about what Greg Williams said the other day,
about he basically said you think you were one of the league's most dynamic players?
Who?
Who is it?
Oh.
No, I mean, you know, everybody has the right to their own opinion.
I'm done talking about it, you know.
He said that?
Jesus.
That's next question.
A dynamic football player.
It's a very fair response out of baseball.
Totally fair. That's actually Baker's greatest response ever.
Just be exasperated.
OBJ is not a playmaker.
I mean, you can say a lot of things about O'Dell that may be fair.
That's just not one of them.
All the highlights from last night's game were O'Dowell.
Can we play that again? That's my favorite.
Forget all the commercials.
And by the way, it's progressive commercials are funny.
They're very funny.
This is the greatest response, Baker Mayfield.
This is my, everybody says, what's your Baker Mayfield highlight?
This is my Baker Mayfield.
This is funny.
Who's your feelings about what Greg Williams said the other day about he basically said
you think you were one of the league's most dynamic players?
Who?
Who is it?
Oh, no, I mean, you know, everybody has the right to their own opinion.
I'm done talking about it, you know?
He said that?
Jesus.
That's next question.
A dynamic football player.
It's just very genuine.
You could tell that he literally felt that in that moment.
There was nothing extra put on that.
I got to tell you, between those progressive commercials and that, I'm starting to...
You coming around?
Not really.
But the truth is, I like him more today.
That is funny.
That is funny.
It's a ridiculous comment.
What is Greg Williams doing?
The NFL's always had like two or three guys that are just, even among pro athletes,
are just faster than everybody.
Like Dion Sanders, it was like you'd put him next to fast guys,
and he would turn around and mock them.
Like, Odell, when Odell gets humming,
It's like bye.
He's owed hell.
There's a reason why we talk about him every single day.
It's not just that he's interesting.
He's incredibly talented.
Joey with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Heard Lye News.
You know, I was thinking about this this morning.
Russell Wilson, Peter King, and Joel Clat.
I live in Los Angeles.
And you know that, right?
We open our show and you can tell we're in Los Angeles.
And right now, the Lakers and the Clippers are very, very,
good and interesting with stars everywhere.
I got Kauai. I got LeBron.
I got Anthony Davis. I got Paul George.
I got Doc Rivers. And then you have the Dodgers, and they're going to win their division
for the seventh straight year. Our soccer team, LAAFC, is probably the best team in the league's
history. I've got two NFL teams. The Rams were in the Super Bowl and the Chargers are,
you know, good playoff team. So in Los Angeles, everything works. The NBA teams both are good.
The NFL teams both are good. The baseball team is great.
In New York right now, the Giants and the Jets, the Mets, the Knicks,
God, thank God for the Yankees.
Lord.
We're very lucky in Los Angeles.
The teams are all humming.
Speaking of humming, the Seahawks have their best record since their Super Bowl season.
One eight of nine games.
It's hard to meet from a kid from Seattle not to be a fan of Russell Wilson.
You know what I think of him.
Super Bowl champ.
It's going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
He is joining us via the Coward.
Global Satellite Network.
All right.
So first of all, I watched all the video of you in that locker room in Pittsburgh,
and that's as much fun as I've seen you have, not winning a Super Bowl.
Russell, is it different to win on the road?
It just felt different for watching you.
Well, yeah, of course.
I think that to be able to go on the road, first road game of the year,
to be able to find a way to win is a big deal, you know,
and to be able to get a huge win in a tough environment.
Hinesville is not an easy place to.
play. It's a place that I've always dreamed about playing
when you're a young kid. You know, growing up on the East Coast
and I'm glad I'm a Seahawk, but to be able
to go there and beat them on the road, we haven't played
there. Supposedly, coaches tell them
before the game that we hadn't played well
there in the past years, and we wanted
to put a stamp on a big game and we found a way
to win. It's interesting. I think
it's very important for teams to have
identities. Your championship,
your Super Bowl team was defense,
running, and you doing
magical things. This identity
to me is defense,
running and you doing magical things.
It does feel a little bit like that team.
My question is, do you have enough veterans?
You and Bobby are going to be Hall of Famers.
Do you worry this team is really young?
No, you know, the funny thing is when we won the Super Bowl
and when we went back-to-back years, we were really young.
I think the year we won the Super Bowl calling,
and I think you know that we were actually the youngest team in the NFL that year.
I think that the reality is this, you know,
and I always say this.
You know, experience is only necessary for,
those who are unqualified. And I believe that we're qualified. You know, I believe that we're
ready to play, do whatever it takes. You know, and I think more than anything else, though,
we've got to focus on one moment at a time, one game at a time, just try to capitalize where
we can and get some big wins along the way. It's funny. I watch all these young quarterbacks
and they run around and Lamar and Kyler. And I think you're like the old guy now. Like you're
the old veteran guy who runs around and does it right. You and Steve Young, you didn't,
get hurt. Do any of these young guys or their agents or their coaches ever call you for advice
on the style of play which you have sort of perfected magical run and stay healthy?
Well, I think those guys really know what they're doing. I mean, Lamar is playing unbelievably well.
I was texting my guy Earl actually yesterday, just telling him to tell Lamar that I love watching
him play. You know, so we were talking about that yesterday. I think Lamar's playing great.
I think Kyler is going to be a phenomenal football player throughout his career.
Those guys know what they're doing.
They played so much college football, too, so it transfers well.
I do think that in this league, though, the National Football League, those linebackers, those
safeties, those defensive line in the corners, they're ferocious.
They can stop it on dime and get to you pretty quickly.
I mean, we really think about it.
When we play college football, you know, only one, two, three of those guys maybe make it
in the NFL.
So you're taking each conferences, each team's best college football players.
and put them on the field.
And so it becomes very real, very quickly.
And I noticed that my rookie year,
when I tried to step up in the pocket
and try to scamper away,
try to run away from Patrick Willis and Bowman back in the day.
And I realized that was a no-go situation.
So, you know, you got to learn how to slide.
You got to know how to get down.
You've got to be able to protect yourself
and all the above.
One of the things that I think is remarkable.
You led the NFL in touchdowns with 34 back in 2017,
and that was with a rebuilding.
And at times, injury-plagued offensive line.
you have worked with virtually every wide receiver.
You and Brady, it doesn't matter.
Every receiver they give you, drafted, drafted high, undrafted, it works.
Now you have a kid, very talented, D.K. Metcalfe.
And this is your next, like, guy.
And we all know Locke, it's great.
So what is the process, take my audience, what is the process when you get a new wide receiver?
When do you start trusting?
How do you build that trust?
Well, you built that trust, you know, for example, I'll use DK, for example.
As soon as he got drafted, I FaceTimed him right away and just started talking to him about the work ethic that we got to have and where we got to go.
And I think he was fired up too because, you know, he could have been a first round pick.
And I think he was excited to come to Seattle and do the things that he wanted to prove to people and prove himself right as well.
And so from that moment on, we put the work in.
I think all of our receivers have to be honest with him.
I think that's the due diligence in the off season, the taking the extra time.
to, you know, for all of us to get together in California, work together, spend a week together
doing that. And then, you know, for D.K. and I, for example, you know, we were getting up at
520 during the Espies week, 520 in the morning, throwing at 545 at UCLA making sure we put the
work in. And, you know, there's no substitute for hard work. And I think that, one, you got to have
smart guys. We got smart guys. Two, you got to have talented guys. And three, you got to have
playmakers. You got to have guys that believe that no matter what, we're going to make a play.
And we have all that across the board. It's been exciting. Obviously, D.K. MacK. McK.,
Tyler Lockett, David Moore's coming back.
J.B., he's been playing great.
Malik played a great game last week.
So there's a lot of versatility and there's a lot of youth.
And youth is a good thing.
Like I said, if you can handle it and if you're prepared,
anything great can happen.
So I think we put the due diligence in.
You know, Russell, what's interesting is you see Mahomes,
but he's got a offensive coach.
And you see Breeze, but he's got an offensive coach.
I always think it's funny with you and Pete,
because Pete's the defensive guy.
And Pete, defensive coach,
can be conservative and they don't want you to lose the game.
And I always think, are there times that Pete watches Russell and goes, oh, Russell,
slide, because you, you've got an ad-libbing component that can drive defensive coaches crazy.
What is your relationship with Pete?
Do you ever feel, you know, Pete's a defensive guy, Russell.
If you ask defensive coaches, they'd rather you just hand the ball off and throw 12 times a game.
What's your relationship with Pete like?
Well, Coach Carroll, he understands the game across the board.
You know, there's nobody who understands the game better than him.
The stuff that he sees throughout the game, throughout practice, we're constantly talking.
And, you know, I've been very fortunate and very blessed to be with a great head coach for, you know, for a period of time here.
Obviously, going into my eighth year, we've won a lot of football games.
Coach Carroll just won his hundredth, you know, football game with the Seattle Seahawks.
And it's a lot of wins, you know, it's not easy to do.
And it takes a lot of hard work.
And I think that that relationship, you know, you see obviously Tom and Coach Belichick and their relationship.
I think for Coach Carroll and I, we want to continue to build on what ours is and continue to have a winning formula.
And, you know, I think in terms of coach's style, you know, he's the most consistent guy you'll ever know, just in general.
You know, he comes to work. He's prepared. He's fired up every day.
But I think also, too, the thing about Coach Carroll is that he loves winning.
You know, he does, he'll do whatever it takes to win and we'll do whatever it takes.
And I think that's the thing.
He prepares everybody.
He helps prepare me.
And it's been a lot of fun.
It's been a lot of fun winning, too, along the way.
You won a Super Bowl as one of the young guys.
Now you're one of the leaders and the veterans.
Which do you prefer?
Being the young guy nobody knew or believed in
or being the veteran that faces pressure
and that sometimes is being relied on to win the games.
What do you prefer?
Well, I love them both, you know, to be honest with you.
When I came in the league, you know,
I had high expectations for myself anyway.
So the expectations haven't changed.
You know, when you strap on the cleats and put on your helmet,
you're going out there to win and win the whole thing.
And so my mentality hasn't changed at all.
I think that I've also learned how to live with a lot and how to live with little, you know,
and to have the two spectrums of both, you know,
coming into the league as a guy that people didn't think I would be able to make it
and just working through it and just going along with the process
and just loving the process.
And then, you know, on the retrospective,
end of it all, and another end of it all, you know, to, you know, to just to work to earn everything.
You know, my, but at the same time, you know, in the middle of all that is just this mentality of
loving to win, this obsession with winning and whatever it takes. And so I don't, I like being
young, but I also like being the vet too to, you know, you use all that experience to help
others. You use all the experience to help teach and to love guys and to help them out and to do
whatever it takes, you know, to help them be successful as well and help our football team win.
Well, you've created a dynamic culture. It's one of the smart, optimistic cultures in the NFL.
We got one in New England and one in Seattle. It's, again, a young team with a couple of great leaders,
you and Bobby Wagner and a legendary coach. Russ, I love having you on the show and my Pacific Northwest
roots. It's hard for me not to root for you. And thanks, bud.
Appreciate, man. It's always a pleasure, Kyle. I'll see you guys. Go Hawks.
All right. Russell Wilson. That, that was.
It was. I was watching that. And I really respect the Steelers. That road wins in the NFL, like in
legendary to go to Lambo and win, to go to Pittsburgh and win, to go to Foxborough and win.
A couple years ago, Russell went out, remember when he went out to Foxborough and won?
Like those games are, they just feel different. That win for Seattle, Pete Carroll's birthday,
it just felt huge. Peter King, Joel Clatt, both coming up.

So Monday Night Football last night was two bad teams.
One had an excuse.
I mean, the Jets were missing seven starters.
Their tight end had a DUI in the offseason.
Herndon, very good didn't play.
C.J. Mosley, best linebacker didn't play.
number one draft pick didn't play.
Trumane Johnson, their only corner that can guard anybody,
but he did not play until the fourth quarter.
Sam Darnold was out.
By the way, his backup is now out for the season, Trevor Simeon.
The Jets were awful.
They were down to a third quarterback who'd never played really in a game of note in the NFL,
and Cleveland had every chance, every opportunity to just bury them.
That should have looked a lot like New England, Miami.
It wasn't the Jets were just missing players.
They were missing their best players.
They were missing Sam Darnold, C.J. Mosley.
These are really good players.
Basically, last night, offense was Labian Bell.
Defense was Jamal Adams.
I mean, it was not many good players.
And yet, the Jets had more time of possession.
The Jets had more rushing yards.
The Jets were as good almost in first downs and third down efficiency.
I think Cleveland is a hot 24-7 hype mess.
I don't think they're well-coached.
I don't think they have a point of view.
or a direction offensively.
Miles Garrett, what is the problem?
He's a great talent, but he led the NFL last year in defensive penalties.
He had four more last night.
What are they offensively?
What happened to Jarvis Landry?
Jarvis Landry and all this has disappeared.
He's a 90-catchet game guy.
When you have this many mouse to feed,
and last night, David and Joku, the tight end got hurt,
and OBJ had cramps.
Jarvis Landry, if I'm Baker-Mayfield,
and I'm not blaming Baker on this, because Baker's running for his life.
And this is, in the next five weeks, the teams the Browns play are 10-0.
Rams, Aaron Donald, Ravens Pass Rush.
Niners have Bosa.
Seattle always gets after the quarterback.
New England led the NFL last year in pressures.
And Belichick, that's the best secondary.
This thing could implode fast.
I mean, if you're Cleveland this morning, wouldn't you sign up for two and three?
Wouldn't you?
Wouldn't you sign up?
Okay, we beat the Rams at home.
We beat the Niners and we'll take our lumps.
I think if you look at that in your,
now, Cleveland may be cocky because they're Cleveland.
But, you know, they do remind me of the guy that has beautiful jewelry,
a great wardrobe, a ski boat, a Porsche,
and lives in an apartment with no savings.
You know, they are just so into,
it's a flashy cocky receiver, a flashy quarterback,
a flashy defensive end,
an outspoken general manager who hired a coach he can control.
That was two bad football teams.
One has an excuse.
And I'm not saying the Jets are good.
But I mean, let me just say this.
If last night the Jets had Darnold and Mosley and their guys,
and the Browns had no Baker Mayfield, no Miles Garrett,
no Jarvis Landry, no number one pick,
and we're missing an offensive lineman.
And they lost last night.
You'd be like, okay, come on.
Give me a break.
I mean, I went on Twitter last night.
I said 3313 Browns, you know, it was real obvious second drive.
Oh, this is over.
Like this is not, this is anemic.
But I just don't get Cleveland.
And again, this is why, you know, I was thinking about this.
Baker has not looked good.
Despite what ESPN's announcer kept saying he's the next Brett Favre,
we've got that guy is called Patrick Mahomes.
The next Brett Favre in this league is Patrick Mahomes.
Let's not compare any.
I like the Sean Watson.
He's not Brett Fav.
Baker Mayfield this year has two touchdowns and four picks.
Now, I'm not blaming it all on Baker because he's running for his life and I don't think his head coach is a head coach.
But when you brag, you make yourself a target.
Brady does it perfectly.
Andrew luck did it perfectly.
Russell, be humble.
And then when you are successful, people are like, wow, Baker makes himself a target.
I'm living dangerously.
We're going to light people up.
So even if you're great, it's like I never understand pizza places that have a 30-minute guarantee.
Remember when Domino's had a 30-minute guarantee?
So even if you get there in 28 minutes, people are like, well, you promise 30.
Who cares?
I mean, big deal, you show up 28 minutes to get a pizza.
You said you'd be here in 30.
I could argue you should have been here five minutes earlier.
But if you don't promise delivery and you do DoorDash where I live and they show up in 25, 30, if they show up in 35 minutes, you're like, woo, you guys just, who!
Those guys are amazing.
How'd you do that?
Don't make promises.
I mean, Rex Ryan kept promising we're getting to the Super Bowl.
The truth is, Rex Ryan got to a couple of AFC championships with Mark Sanchez.
If he wouldn't have gone out there and said Super Bowl or bust, you'd be like,
Rex Ryan was pretty good with the Jets.
How can you fire him?
AFC championship, Mark Sanchez?
Don't make promises.
Stop living dangerously.

Well, let's have Peter King join us.
He's out east.
And I said, when I lived out east for 11 years,
I'm a West Coast guy, the 100-year-old churches,
the 100-year-old baseball parks,
tradition and hierarchy are more important than out west where we just, you know, we got big states,
put a piece of dynamite in that casino blow it up and build a new one. It's kind of the West Coast way,
right? You just, you know, Silicon Valley wasn't around 30 years ago. It's a different vibe out east.
I think you have to be more delicate when you have the veteran quarterback, the manning name,
the hierarchy. It matters to the Mara family. So how is it playing in New York today?
Let's go to Peter King Football Morning in America via the Coward Global Satellite Network.
I'd love to listen to New York Sports Radio today.
I would absolutely love to hear what they're yelling and screaming.
How do you think it plays in New York, Peter?
Well, Colin, I think you're going to get some people in New York,
both in the media and in the fan bases who say,
oh, poor Eli, he doesn't deserve this.
But again, I mean, it's just time.
It's two or three years past time.
You know, since Eli Manning won his second Super Bowl,
and look, God bless him for winning Super Bowls with the two teams he did,
for beating the great Belichick and Brady twice.
I talked to Brady a week or so ago, and he said that Super Bowl loss still pains him.
Both the Super Bowl losses still really pain him.
And I think the one thing you think about with Eli Manning is you think about those two games.
What do you think about in the seven years since the second Super Bowl?
I mean, what do you think about?
You think about a guy who has been a mediocre NFL quarterback.
That's it.
It is time to change.
You know, since New Year's Day, 2017, I think I'm right in saying this, since his playoff game in Green Bay, he started 34 games and he's won eight of them.
It's just time, Colin.
I mean, time waits for nobody in the NFL.
And it's just time for the Giants to move on at quarterback.
So the Steelers to me sent two messages by trading for Minka Fitzpatrick.
Number one, they're not giving up on the season.
And number two, next year is a quarterback heavy draft class in the first round.
And they're telling me, we like Mason Rudolph, 65, 2.30, productive, big arm in a northern climate.
That's what Pittsburgh's telling me.
Do you think the season's lost?
Because they're telling me their messaging is, we still think we can win this division.
Now, this tells me two things.
number one, they believe that Ben Rothosberger is going to come back and they believe he's
going to play at least two more years.
And I think it says one other thing.
The Pittsburgh Steelers rated Minka Fitzpatrick very highly in the draft a couple of years ago.
How high, I don't know, 5, 7, 8, something like that, but it was very high on their draft
board.
And now they have the opportunity to get in for what they think will be, pick a number,
15th, 20th pick in this draft, which I think that's being pretty optimistic that they're
0 and 2 and having to play with Mason Rudolph.
I think it was a pretty rich price to pay.
But to me, I think they believe that Rathosberger is going to play some more after this
year.
And obviously, as you say, they like what they have in Mason Rudolph.
Has that what's the most, I mean, New England's obviously been amazing and Kansas City
is going to score over 25 a game banquet.
Has there been a team that's been in.
impressive to you, though, that maybe isn't getting the publicity so far?
Baltimore.
First of all, they have a quarterback who now isn't just a running quarterback.
He's a guy who can throw the ball very well deep downfield.
And as long as Hollywood Brown stays healthy, which is always going to be a question with someone as slight as he is,
they're going to have their own Odell Beckham Jr.
their own deep threat who's going to make an impact on every game he plays in.
But I also think that one of the reasons why I think Baltimore would be a very interesting candidate for Jalen Ramsey
is that I think they're a shutdown corner away from being very competitive with New England and Kansas City.
They're going to be competitive with them anyway.
But I think if, and look, Jalen Ramsey is going to cost a lot.
if the Jaguars even trade him.
And I don't know if when you're Baltimore,
if you look at Jalen Ramsey and say,
man, do we want to pay this guy 18 or 20 million a year or whatever?
I don't even know what the number is going to be,
but it's going to be a silly number.
Do we want to pay that long term?
But I think Baltimore is the other really surprise in a good way
to an O team in the league.
You know, the Rams have the best record.
last couple of years in the NFL along with New England.
I did feel a lot of people thought the Saints would come back and punish them.
And I didn't.
My strongest belief of the weekend was Rams beat the Saints.
I'm not a critic of golf.
I saw him out duel Patrick Mahomes on a football game that was as good a football game as I've watched in a decade.
What are we learning about the Rams post-Super Bowl lost?
They got a road win.
They beat the Saints.
You know, they look good to me again, Peter.
I think the two things when I visited the Rams in camp and spent some time with Sean McVeigh,
there's two things that really impressed me.
One is that he was absolutely, totally unequivocally all in with Jared Gough.
You know, you look at how Gough played in the postseason, not too good.
And you look at how the Rams performed in the Super Bowl and you say, you know, maybe they're not ready for that big stage.
but McVeigh, when McVe did his contract in late July, and when the Rams announced it,
what they didn't announce is that when McVeigh did his contract, he said to the Rams brass,
hey, listen, I want Jared Goff to get done too.
I do not want this to be any sort of question, any sort of sort of Damocles hanging over our head.
So, you know, and they got now, obviously they got golf done too.
That's one thing.
the second thing that's been really interesting to watch is that this is a very impressive defensive
team. This is not a team that is just okay on defense and relies too much on Aaron Donald.
This is a defense that is better than we think, and they're getting better play, I believe,
in the first two games out of their corner position than they got last year. So I agree with you.
I think the Rams have an excellent chance to win the NFC again.
By the way, before we go, there were two bad teams last night.
One had an excuse.
I look at the next five games for the Browns.
Their opponents are 10 and O.
There's a lot of New England's coming up and Rams coming up.
My gut feeling is right now, Peter, I think Cleveland's,
this thing could unravel fast.
They really, that game shouldn't have been close last night.
Third quarterback for the Jets, seven starters out.
I'm going to make a prediction.
In three weeks, Cleveland unravels.
What did you see last night?
I don't think so.
I mean, I think Baker Mayfield, I mean, we have to remember this is the, this is the
basically he's still in his first year.
I mean, he's not, he's not been a starter.
What does he have eight, ten starts under his belt?
I mean, he's just, he's still evolving as a player.
I think he's going to be okay.
And I think he's actually going to be a very good player in the NFL.
Their offensive line concerns me.
Yes.
No question about it.
I don't know how they're going to block Aaron Donald this Sunday night.
I don't know.
We'll see how it happens.
I don't see it.
But the one thing I, in looking at this schedule,
if they come out of this two and three, Colin, in the next five weeks, I think they'll be fine.
Yeah.
Boy, it's a rough one.
NFL did them no favors with that offensive line and who they face.
Peter King, Football Morning in America, NBCSports.com.
Thanks, Peter.
Okay, Colin.
All right.
I'll tell you that my team I like so far, watch the Niners play.
They are so much fun.
Eight different guys caught a ball.
Six different guys carried the ball.
The Niners under Kyle Shanahan, I know you haven't watched them yet.
Cincinnati game, nobody in the country saw it.
Keep your eye on the Niners.
Fun to watch.
Joel Clats around the corner as well.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd.

Speaking of Michigan at Wisconsin, the guy that's going to be calling that for our network,
Mr. College football, Joel Clatt, come on, bring it.
What's up?
You know, they just legalized beer drinking in Wisconsin last week.
Well, at the stadium at least.
Yeah.
They've been drinking in other places.
Anyways, yeah, I can't wait for this matchup, boy.
I tell you what, Michigan, with their struggles offensively, against what is right now,
and I know it's only been two games and I understand that Wisconsin's opponents have not been great,
but Wisconsin's the number one, total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense, passing defense, passing efficiency defense.
They haven't given up a point, have not given up a point.
And so now Michigan, with their struggles offensively through the first two games, have to go face that defense.
I can't wait to watch this thing play out.
You and I have defended Jim Harbaugh.
Yeah, and rightly so.
Yes.
Okay.
This weekend.
Are you about to jump?
four, listen, I like a guy.
Get away from the ledge.
No. Just step back.
Four years in, you got to be able to beat Wisconsin at Michigan.
Okay.
Bo Schembeckler was beaten Wisconsin.
I think Wisconsin is really good.
I mean, Wisconsin is in the top ten.
I'm not ready to throw Jim Harbaugh out.
I'm not throwing him out.
I'm saying I'm a huge Harbaugh fan.
He's got to own this offense.
It's not getting better.
Well, that's interesting that you say that because this is the least
involved he's been with any of his offenses at any level. So if you go back to his days at San
Diego, that's where he started as a head coach, San Diego, then he goes to Stanford, then he goes
to the 49ers. Now he's with Michigan. This is unequivocally the least involved Jim Harbaugh
has ever been with an offense of his team. Well, what does that mean? Let me tell you what
I mean. So in every game plan or offensive meeting in the past at wherever he's been, he's
been involved in the offensive meetings.
So what's he doing now? Having crackers down the hall? Now he's being
more of a CEO. What does that mean? He's left it.
He's left it to Josh Gattis. So he will pop in on one of those meetings.
And then he'll go spend time with the special teams and with the defense. And he kind of,
he's more of a hover. He more, more of a hover and he's less involved in
the actual game planning. So now he's doing more of the CEO type of deal versus being
involved in the actual play calling on Saturday, being involved specifically in the game
planning during the course of the week.
So I think that that's interesting.
I don't know if people out there know that.
Jim Harbaugh handed the keys to his whole program offensively to Josh Gattis,
who had never called plays before in his life.
And now this is Josh Gattis's offense.
Sounds like you're throwing Josh Gattis under a bus a little.
Am I?
No, it's everybody's like, so if it fails, Josh Gattis, get him out of here.
By the way, this is this Harbaugh's team.
I don't want to hear about some coordinator.
And I don't disagree with that.
I don't disagree with that at all.
Who's this Gattis guy?
How old he?
Gass is a young guy. He was at Alabama last year as a co-coordinator with Mike Loxley.
I never even heard of him. He comes from the Joe Moorhead tree. Those of you that are following this,
Joe Moorhead is the head coach of Mississippi State. Bad loss, by the way, last week to Kansas State.
He's a great coach. He is a great coach offensively. And what he did at Penn State, he came from Fordham, the FCS,
and he goes to Penn State with Trace McSorley and Seekwon Barkley. And then Nick Saban was like,
hey, I want to run that offense. So he went and he got some guys that were disciples of Joe Moorhead,
as Joe Moorhead moved to Mississippi State.
One of them was Josh Gattis.
He was at Bama last year.
And Harbaugh said, hey, I want that offense.
And so he got Josh Gattis.
But if they lose, Josh Gattis gets nailed.
He was a co-coordinator of a college football team.
And now the whole lot, if they stink Saturday at Wisconsin.
You say that was such disdain.
I don't have disdain for anybody alive.
Oh, he's the midday host at KWX in Seattle.
I mean, if you're any good, you're doing drive time.
The point is you can't blame Josh Gattis.
What time is this show on?
thing unravels. I don't want to hear about
Josh Gattis. I'm not saying it's Josh
Gaddis. He was a coach in Ford.
You know, he's the guy that
you want facts or do you not
want facts? This is Big J. journalism
right here. I'll tell you what, this, we are the
standard of journalism, but if you're
going to be Jim Harbon, make seven large
a year, don't give me Josh Gattis.
I just told you the truth
of what was going on. And I don't
disagree with you. And they've got to fix what's going
on in the short yardage. Okay, so Michigan
struggled in the last couple of games in
short yardage and that's not acceptable.
Acceptable in particular for a Harbaugh team, which has been great at that during the course
the last few years.
All right.
Let's do.
Big game.
Big game.
Friday.
Saturday.
There's seven powers in college football, despite what all these stand.
Seven.
Okay.
Notre Dame, Alabama.
You're including Notre Dame.
I mean, I've sat on this couch and you're like, Notre Dame is never going to do anything.
Okay, let me start over.
Go ahead.
The seven biggest brands in college football.
Okay.
Thank you for the clarification.
Texas, Oklahoma.
Okay.
Notre Dame.
Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, and USC.
Okay.
USC loses to Utah on Friday, and they're an underdog.
It's over.
They're looking for a new coach because they go to Washington and Notre Dame after that.
Yeah, their schedule coming up is not good.
Let's just cut.
Let's stop.
Don't tell me it's Joel Gaddis's fault if USC loses.
It's Josh, first of all.
Okay.
And I'm not telling you that with USC.
Greg Gaddis is now the problem with Michigan football.
I got news for you.
USC loses Friday.
Go get a new.
Coach.
Do you really want to do that without the AD?
Yes.
No.
I'm not saying.
Would you put a roof on a house before you have a foundation?
Of course you don't.
Colin, come on, carve before the horse.
No coach can work for an AD that didn't hire him.
So I've told you, I told you this last week.
You're dead wrong, by the way.
You're dead wrong on this.
You can't go and solidify the coaching spot without first solidifying the athletic director's spot.
I'm not saying you fire Clay Hilton Friday.
I'm saying, but you make a decision as an organization.
Who makes that decision?
Well, the president. That's what they get paid for.
Again, I believe if you pay somebody $6 million, they got a responsibility to take the heat.
If I'm the president, this is what I'm doing at USC.
I'm going out and finding and I'm concentrating 100% of my effort as it relates to the athletic department to finding the best possible athletic director so that that person can then make that decision.
You know what I do? I call my biggest boosters. How much money you got in your ATM?
That's what they've been doing for the last decade. That's why they wound up with all of these guys that weren't great athletic.
directors, but everyone thought like, hey, big name, played with for the program.
He's a Trojan.
How'd that work out for you, USC?
Boy, you got a lot of spite there.
You live here.
You think 50 minutes from your house, you'd think you'd root for them a little.
I don't root for anybody.
This is Big J. journalism.
You don't root for anybody?
No.
Maybe Colorado a little bit.
By the way, I gave you a nice under on that one.
Or a nice upset pick on a house.
Okay, I'm going to, okay, before I get, I want to get to some stuff.
So years ago, Mason Rudolph played for Oklahoma.
state. You did a couple of their games. Few of their games. That's right. He had a shootout with Baker
Mayfield, who's not working in the NFL. Not working. I guess throwing for 300 yards, winning by
20 is not working. Do you know since he became starter in the NFL? Leads the NFL in the NFL
leads the NFL in Interceptions. He's played for like eight games. He's like, he's a human
bakery. Give me a break, Baker. Last night was embarrassing. It was. I didn't
realize winning by 20 and throwing for 300 yards in the National Football League is
embarrassing. It was not a good look. It wasn't.
really what is a good look
Jets missing seven starters
and they rush for more than you they had more time
of possession than almost as many first downs
I didn't know Baker was responsible for the run game
in Cleveland okay so let's go to
oh look at you changes look at that I mean that was just like
a B-line Joe it Mason Rudolph can he play
yes he can play in fact
I thought that coming out he was one of the best
throwers of the football that we had coming out of college
you said that actually I remember that
and he's a big strong-arm quarterback very
accurate down the field was a great deep ball
thrower in the college ranks
You liked him.
I liked him.
What I thought he was going to struggle with, which would take some time, which was the
schematics of the game because Oklahoma State was a little less intricate than, let's say,
in Oklahoma that has produced the other quarterbacks that we're talking about.
So he needed some time.
Pittsburgh was the perfect spot for him because of that.
He could sit and he could learn.
He could get comfortable in the National Football League.
I won't be surprised at all if he has some success.
And he's got the threat on the outside that he had in college, which is that guy, James
Washington.
Yeah, they played together.
They played together.
they were great. I thought they were at the time the best deep threat in college football combination.
He's a very good player. I will not be surprised at all if he has some success.
All right. Let's go to this. Daniel Jones, you didn't broadcast any games, but you saw.
You did. You were a little questionable. I don't love his arm strength. I was hard on the Giants for
their pick. I thought it was the wrong place to pick Daniel Jones. If it works out, then it was
the right place to pick him. The thing that I thought about Daniel Jones is I thought that we had
seen the best that Daniel Jones had to offer. I didn't see much upside. I didn't see much potential.
Now, having said that, he played great in the preseason. The regular season is far different
than the preseason. So we'll see how this all plays out in New York. I thought that there were
guys with better potential. However, I did say at that time, he was the most pro ready at the time.
If you needed a guy to play tomorrow, so maybe their selection of Daniel Jones actually was
more of a clue of what they thought of Eli Manning in terms of his long.
longevity or how long this was actually going to play out in reality because now it's here.
And it's Daniel Jones era.
And I think maybe that selection was less about, hey, we just love Daniel Jones and more about,
hey, this is not going to work long term.
Or we're going to need somebody to play within the first three, four, five weeks in the NFL season.
You know, it's funny.
He actually in a uniform looks like Eli.
I'm not joking.
He does.
He literally looks like Eli Manning.
I was looking at that picture.
Like he looks like he could be Eli's son.
Eli's son.
He basically, he throws like he's a.
more athletic version. He's like Alex Smith.
Straight line speed. He's not
clever like Lamar, but he can run. If you just
give him the ball and say go for 30 yards, he can run.
All right, let's segue back to the college football
where I'm going to teach you a couple lessons here.
Let's start with this. I'll teach you.
You've been very critical of
Brian Kelly at Notre Dame to the point where I'm
uncomfortable. What are you talking
about? A lot of times.
When did I? What?
It's a lot of negativity, but it's subtle.
I totally disagree. I'm the one
out here defending Notre Dame when you're taking
shots at him about, oh, it's a cold climate. It's a religious
undertone. It is. I just don't think that can be great anymore. And I'm like, no,
they're one of the biggest brands in college football. And then today, all of a sudden,
you're like, you've been critical of Brown and Kelly. They're one of the top brands.
I'm going to throw this out. What is this? I'll tell you, it's an inquisition. I think this
quarterback Ian Book, I think Notre Dame's got a shot at Georgia. I saw the line
this morning. It was 15. I'm like, I think Notre Dame can play with Georgia.
Here's why that line is where it's at. Because Georgia is an elite rushing team. They're leading
the SEC again, 286 yards
a game on the ground. And if you
were to look at Notre Dame, they played
only two games because they've already had one of their off
weeks. They played Louisville and they had the off week, then they
came back. Their game in the opening
week against Louisville, the one question mark
I had coming out of that game was their run defense.
They missed a lot of tackles, gave up
far too many yards per rush, and that was
against Louisville. And so now you're going to face
a team in Georgia that is far superior
from a rushing standpoint. That's the
concern for me with Notre Dame. And I think that's
why the line is where it's at, because that's what
Notre Dame is going to try to do, and that's where Notre Dame has fallen short a bit early in
the season. But I am absolutely a Brian Kelly defender. I think that Notre Dame is and should be
and will be a great program in college football. I like Ian Book. I like him. Ian Book is a very
good player. There's no doubt about it. They right now is a program with Book as their quarterback,
with their head coach. They're in a very Michigan-esque type of spot in that they need one of these
wins. Yeah, but I think they're better than Michigan
because Book's better than... Yeah, and I think they're better. I think this Ian Book
kid, I think he'll play in the NFL.
Potentially. Jay Patterson's not playing in the NFL.
Maybe, maybe not. All I'm saying is that when they've gotten
on this stage, the national narrative tends to be like, well, they can't play with the
teams from the SEC. You know who this guy is?
You know who Ian Book is? I'm not joking.
He's a better athlete, little less of a thrower than Baker Mayfield.
I think he's really good.
He's not the thrower that Baker is.
So is this a compliment for Baker?
Because you love the...
No, but I think Ian Book's going to get drafted in the third round.
Baker got drafted number one.
He got over-drafted.
Which he should have been taking number one.
Let me give you one more lesson.
I'm just telling you right now, Notre Dame needs one of these from a national
playoff perspective narrative.
They need one of these wins based on how they played in the national championship game a few years ago,
which is unfair to the current batch of kids there,
and then how they played last year against Clemson and the semi-fininal.
We're not going to do your upset of the week anymore.
I stopped that.
Oh, that's right, because I was 2 and 0 last week.
You don't want me to upstage you.
By the way, I'll do it.
It's Oklahoma State.
Watch out, Texas.
Oklahoma State is a good football team.
Watch out for Oklahoma State this week.
I'll make a lock.
Texas wins by 20.
All right.
It's my lock of the week.
You did that out of spite.
Look at your eyes.
No.
Hey, Goulet this morning.
What did I come in?
What was my lock of the week?
Yesterday, you said you were on Texas.
Yeah.
My guy, a bunch of sources.
All right, we'll see.
My sources are impenetriable.
Loser sits with a cobra next week.
Okay, finally, I want more of my sources?
Please.
Might as well give you one.
So here it is.
Here's what I told.
A big shot, a CEO of a major corporation in America.
They are done with Chip Kelly.
It's not the record.
It's not the record.
He's not doing the booster stuff.
He's disengaged with recruiting.
He's too aloof.
He's not part of the family.
It's not the losing.
Chip Kelly is running out of allies at UCLA fast.
That's interesting because what we have not seen in college football a lot of
is guys getting fired for performance reasons in only two seasons.
Right?
That's very uncommon.
But he has seen as so iconoclastic and so sort of aloof,
if you don't have allies in a building, I don't disagree with you.
I got everybody here loves me, so I'm safe.
You're on the road all the time.
You need to make more friends here.
So you're like Chip Kelly.
You got very few allies.
I think he's in trouble.
I'm almost positive that my equity in this building might even be larger than yours.
However, having said that, Chip, here's, I think where he's missing the boat is that he's so staunchly saying,
I'm not running my offense that I ran at Oregon.
And it's like, well, that's why we hired you is to do that, to do what you did at Oregon.
That's why you're here.
You're not here to run the Philadelphia Eagles offense.
You're not here to run to San Francisco 49ers offense.
It's not working.
When it comes to yards per play, they are dead last in the country.
I know.
And yards per play offense.
I know.
4.1.
That's not, I mean, it's not working.
And one of the other things, you have to look at dynamics.
If it was a young athletic director that was hanging his hat on this higher, Chip would be safe right now.
It's a veteran.
It is a veteran in Dan Guerrero that I don't think he, I mean, he's going to retire soon.
Yes.
So you might, you might be right.
And it was a source.
It's not an opinion.
By the way, raise your hand if you like in this room.
If you like me more than clat, raise your hand.
One hand is.
Joy.
Oh, I have no choice.
I have no choice.
And Goulet?
No, Goulet didn't raise his hand.
Oh, nice Goulet.
We see you once a week.
I have to sit across from calling every day.
Joy.
That hurt.
A lot of people here like me.
A lot of people like me here.
That heard a little bit.
I do like having you on.
I love to be on the show.
Oh, is her line coming up now?
I did not do Hirtline?
That's okay.
This hurts.
Hell.
I forgot.
Now how do you like him?
Okay, let's do her.
Fair.
Fair, Joel.
Thank you.
What'd you say?
Thank you very well.
You just skipped Joy.
She's like, oh, I like calling more than you.
And you just skipped her.
Very selfish of you, you know that?
Very selfish of you.
Do I have, I don't even know.
Did I miss Joy?
What do I have?
Yeah, you missed joy.
You guys, I think, did we take a break yet?
No.
I have to take a break?
Yes.
Didn't we do a commercial earlier?
No.
We have more than one break per show.
There's more than one commercial.
We had commercial breaks, yes.
But not before.
Even Colin has more than one commercial?
All right.
I got to take a break, I guess.
This whole show is screwy.
And then we'll come back and I can.
You know what they say?
The show follows the host.
Anyway, enjoy yourself out there doing a game in a cobra on Oklahoma State, Texas.
Loser sits with a cobra.
Okay, I got to read this spot.
You're out of here.
Let's pay some bills.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern.
9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard radio app.
Go to MDrive for Men.com today. Refine your prime. Boost and burn. Burn. Burns fat.
Gives you more energy. This whole segment's going to be sponsored by MDrive.
Really disappointing. A lot of you are going to like social media in your phones and saying
Clat won that segment. I thought it was a clear slam dunk for me. And maybe you have to
DVR it and watch it again, but I thought I dominated Clat in that segment. I was very happy
the way it ended. Joy
for the first time ever
with the news at the end of the show
because I forgot stuff. Joy with the news.
No. No.
Turn on the news. This
is the herd line news.
Plag gets me so worked up. Yeah, I know.
You and Joel were just going at it.
I wasn't going to interrupt. I felt very good about
dominating him there. I thought like I came out of that looking
really good. I mean, we always win.
So the Jets suffered a 23-3
loss to the Browns last night.
New York is plagued by illnesses.
and injuries right now. They're staring down a road matchup with the Patriots on Sunday.
Adam Gaye says he's been in the situation before and he knows they have a lot of work to do
to turn it around. It's a familiar territory for me. So, I mean, we've got to get better at what
we're doing. I mean, we can play so much better than this and the details of what's going
on in all three phases can get a lot better and it's going to have to. I mean, we've got a long
ways to go. We've got a lot of practice. We've got a lot of games.
it's just going back to what we started doing in the spring
and make sure we're executing that way.
Listen, they miss seven stars.
They're down to their third quarterback.
I can't take too.
I love their uniforms, by the way,
but I can't take too many shots at them.
No, I mean, no one can win in that situation.
It's not fair to evaluate them even.
Baker, Nick Chubb, Odell Beckham, and Miles Garrett didn't play.
They wouldn't be the same football team.
Right.
And now they're down to their second quarterback,
because they lost Trevor Simeon as well.
Well, he's your third really.
Third quarterback, yes.
So, I mean, look, the only thing I don't like about the situation is, and I hate to do this because I really truly hate playing the body language game.
His is bad.
It's.
Just sit up straight at least.
Yeah.
You know, I sound like such a grandma right now.
I know.
Get off my lawn and sit up straight.
But it's true.
Your elbows off the table.
It's just a, you know what I'm saying?
Just a little presentation.
Yes.
I know it's bad.
I know it's bleak.
But you're not going anywhere.
No one thinks it's your fault.
It's actually the best case scenario you could be in while you're losing.
When I first met my wife, three words, she always said, if we're going to go out tonight, you need to set the tone.
She always said, we're going out tonight.
You think you're going to have some fun?
Why don't you set the tone?
Nice little text in the morning, little heart.
Okay, it's the same thing with a football coach.
You're o' and two.
Set the tone a little bit.
Guys, listen, we're missing seven starters.
Don't, this is on me.
It's not on you.
this kind of hat down negativity.
It's a bad tone to set.
Right, because nobody's blaming him in this spot.
Like, you can't evaluate a team with that many starters and injuries and Sam Darnold's out.
Like, it's no one's fault.
It was a little pet.
I like that, by the way.
Set the tone.
Say, Earl, going out tonight.
Earl always sets the tone.
A heart emoji, maybe a high fist bump.
Oh, yeah.
That's set in the tone.
I give it an little fist bump.
So, Jaylonon Ramsey, requests.
a trade from the Jags.
The team is reportedly asking for at least one first-round pick for the All-Pro corner.
Ramsey spoke today about the trade news, but he says he is focused on the Jags next game.
I'm focused on this Thursday, focused on being the best teammate I can be while I'm here in Jacksonville.
I want all my dogs to go out there and ball.
I want a ball with them on Thursday.
You know if I'm still here.
If I have a long, I'm going to be here.
I'm going to continue giving my all out there.
all I care about is winning, man.
Everybody know that.
I want to fucking win.
So they play Tennessee at home on Thursday.
Again, if you're a great team and, you know, Baltimore,
you're a team that just needs, I mean, listen,
if you have to play Kansas City, wouldn't it be nice to be able to say,
hey, Jalen, Tyree Kill, take him out.
Aaron, A.B. for the Patriots.
Hey, just go guard A.B.
I mean, that's a luxury.
When you can just send somebody and say to Odell Beckham,
You're going to play Odell Beckham.
By the way, if I'm Baltimore and I play Odell Beckham twice a year,
be nice to take him out of the game, wouldn't it?
If you're a contender and this is a position of need for you,
this makes perfect sense.
You're not going to get Jalen Ramsey in the first round.
No way.
Of this draft.
Nobody in this draft is as good as Jalen Ramsey,
especially where you're going to draft.
Who cares about the later round pick that they may ask for,
which they very well may not.
And you have to pay him.
That's the only thing.
He's going to, he's going into his fifth year.
You're not paying him his option.
You're not paying Lamar anything.
Well, no, but like, if you need this position, then go get him and pay him in.
Yeah, and Baltimore.
He's 24 years old.
Lock him up for his prime, and then you're good there.
And you don't, you have two more years and not paying Lamar anything.
Right.
He's the last pick in the first round and not paying your quarterback.
You know he's reliable.
It makes perfect sense.
Finally, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have looked great in their two and no start to the season.
And this weekend, they host the Dolphins.
So according to Fox Bet, the Cowboys are favored by 21 and a half points in Sunday's game.
That's just a good one and a half.
That's a college number.
Yes, and the Patriots are also big favorites at home over the Jets this weekend, 22 and a half points.
And now Trevor Simeon is out, so Brady will face Luke Falk.
God, there's some.
I mean.
You know, the NFL bottom is usually very, very small.
But we have, Jets without Darnold and Miami are really bad.
Well, the Jets, I would say, is not their fault.
They had some higher expectations coming into the season, and they just have an injury bug.
There's nothing you can do about it.
Dolphins is a different situation.
But when you look at those lines, it's like...
But because it's the pros, and this is why I'm always hesitant about it,
the Jets maybe are in a different situation because they have injuries.
The dolphins, it's like the players aren't tanking.
The organization might be tanking, but the players aren't tanking.
I don't think it gets until, like, later in the season,
where as you said earlier, you lose a locker room,
that it becomes just a non-factor.
Are we done?
Yes.
That was really fat.
You were very efficient there.
Well, I mean, we've got to wrap the show in a few.
few minutes. I just lost.
Now, when I get really
old, I don't want you guys when I do that to say
you're losing your marbles. We'll just put a big
clock. We'll be able
to send you messages on that. I lose myself
at least once a week.
Everybody noticing, like, I just didn't even
know where I was in the show. So, you know,
once Clat comes in with his unreasonable
opinions and it sets me off,
I just lose time and space. I mean, I think it's
a good thing. You're just rolling. The only
problem is that we, you know, are on television
and radio, so we got to...
Clocks.
We've got shows after us and stuff.
All right, there's Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly News.
So tomorrow we're going to play dis or DAC.
And it's actually a fun game because we were saying as a staff this morning,
you know, just take out Russell Wilson, Brady, Rogers, Mahomes.
Just take those guys off the board, right?
Now that Breeze and Ben are out.
So Breeze and Ben are out.
You take the Four Legends out.
You start asking yourself about who would you take next five years?
I think the list is pretty.
small over DAC.
And the other thing is, I was proud of Whitlock yesterday on Twitter.
Whitlock made a good point.
You don't have to stick with an opinion if something changes.
Like, I didn't love DAC my first two years.
And then I'm like, oh, no, this works.
Like, if you get new information as a pilot, ooh, there's a big storm ahead, then take the
flight plan and change it.
It's okay to do that.
Nick Wright is on the show tomorrow.
Last night, a blown call changed a game.
This morning, the internet lost a lot.
it's mine, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened.
