I'm Chris Welsh with Pat Fitzmorson, Andrew Erickson, for the quarterback and tight-in week 13 ranks episode. We are here with the top 12 on the big board of each of these positions and players outside that you might want to take a look at. Happy holidays or shopping or really just Saturday, Friday, whatever it is, wherever you are listening to this. Fitsy, it has been a big, ranks week with all of the craziness, quarterbacks and tight-ins, just give a great, a comfort level of the quarterback and tight-ins this week versus the core guys or the options outside

Starting point is 00:01:12 the top 12 to go from. Oh, man, I'll say C-plus a quarterback because the top options look pretty solid, but I get real uncomfortable outside the top 14 or so. And tight end, maybe a little bit better. We'll give it a B. I think there's some decent streaming options and, you know, at least two or three good, high-end options. Okay, so tight-in depth a little bit better than quarterbacks this week. Erickson, same thing. What's your, what's the vibe check on quarterbacks and tight-ins, the core players and the depth? Never wrong. Just one week early on Taysam Hill. Let's go. Okay, that's what we're going to do. Yes, we are going to talk about Taysam Hill. I mean, last week, I was like, all about Taysam Hill. And the guy had all the opportunities in the world to get it done.

Starting point is 00:01:57 And it did work out. I actually don't even have Taysam Hill on the rank sheet, but we will talk about him. We will add him so you can do that 100%. I mean, we can't talk quarterbacks and tight ends and not talk about Taysam Hill. The guy that is a quarterback slash tight end. Who's actually a running back, but masquerading as those two other positions. Yeah, is there ever been? He's a quarterback in Tideon who's actually a running back, sometimes a kick returner,

Starting point is 00:02:20 occasional wide receiver, and also sometimes doesn't do any of it. So he is the weirdest, we're weirdest player in the NFL. All right. So we are going to go through the big board on each one of those, and we'll get to that in one second. We do like to talk about giveaways, though. So before we start up, this is your chance. Starting point is 00:03:14 That's always the one that you love. Nodys. It's like when my wife says we're going to watch an Epi tonight. An epi. Yes, absolutely. Epi is a different meaning, but we can do episodes too. All right. Let's get in to.

Starting point is 00:03:25 to the quarterback rankings. We got the top 12 here for the ranks, starting with Patrick Mahomes as your number one quarterback for the week and a five-star rating. Josh Allen comes in at two, Lamar Jackson at three, Jalen Hertz,

Starting point is 00:03:37 Drake May, and Matthew Stafford at six. Your 7 through 12 is Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Jacoby Brissette, Boe Nix, and Jared Gough. As just an aside, watching Matthew Stafford, it's hard to not have him as the number one quarterback every week. You don't have to do that for this rank stuff.

Starting point is 00:03:55 He is just, boy, he is something else right now. He can just do what he wants at will. Comes in at six here because it's a great matchup. Frankly, he might be at six simply because they might do the same thing they did with the bucks. He just throws three touchdowns in the first 18 minutes of the game, and then they just run the ball and don't have to do anything else. So that could hurt. But the quarterbacks that we are going to talk about,

Starting point is 00:04:14 we got a couple quarterbacks that are outside of this range. But the one I thought that was really interesting, now that I look at it, I suppose, Bo Nicks you could throw into this, is Jacoby Berset. Chicobee Brissette had yards. He did not have touchdowns. It's maybe questionable decisions last week. We had him high in the ranks. I can quite live up to it, but he's right back there again at QB10. And it's because it's the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who just got shredded. You guys have him both, it looks like, at 11. So Fitsy, why don't we start with you? What's your confidence level in Brissette after? It seemed like there was a high level of confidence last week. It was okay. It was fine. How do you feel about him going into Tampa Bay? Bay. And then just as a side note, maybe like him versus Bo Nix, which side do you have? So I'm feeling pretty good about Jacoby Brissette, mostly because of the passing volume. I've got him one spot behind Bo Nix, just because the matchup against the commanders is so good. The commanders are averaging. They're giving up almost nine yards per pass attempt,

Starting point is 00:05:15 which is like so much higher than anyone else in the league, the next worst pass defense, Dallas, whoever it is. Washington is just a sieve as far as their pass defense. So don't like Brissette's match up quite as much against the Buccaneers, but the Buccaneers are, they have a good run defense. That's what they do with Todd Bulls. They stuff the run. So we feel pretty good about J. Kobe Brissette's passing volume. And in his last three games, he has thrown a ton of passes, 44, 57, and 49 pass attempts in those three games. So Cardinals running game is kind of a hodgepodge right now. Maybe they get Trey Benson back this week.

Starting point is 00:05:57 Maybe they don't. Bam Knight wasn't really effective last week. Michael Carter. So they're going to throw a lot against the Buccaneers, and that's what we like, the passing volume. And, you know, also to throw on top of all of it, a NFL completion record that Jacoby Brissette got as well. So that was pretty handy. Erickson, what do you think about Brissette as well? Bressett versus Bo Nix for this week.

Starting point is 00:06:23 So I also have Bo Nix ranked ahead of Jacoby Berset. I don't really have anything else to add with Berset. Just like, if you're going to throw the ball 50 times, this is really hard not to be fantasy QB1. Even if you don't necessarily play the quarterback position in real life, that fantastic. It should be a shootout against Tampa Bay. It's a past funnel defense. We know that the Cardinals can't really run the ball without Trey Benson.

Starting point is 00:06:46 So I think, Breset, yeah, have you been starting it? him, there's no reason to look elsewhere this week, I think. If you picked him up and you're streaming him. I'm curious, though, Fitz, I know last time you did DAC Prescott over Bow Nix, are you doing that again here with the DAC playing the Kansas City Chiefs? Yes, I am. I expect to shootout and look at the weapons DAC has. Like, it's, we get a Vegas total.

Starting point is 00:07:09 He had those same weapons last time against Denver. And that was, well, that was against Denver, but, you know, last week I was a little above consensus on DAC and it worked out pretty well. So I'm still a believer in this offense. I don't like that Tyler Guyton is going to be out for a while. That's one issue. So maybe that might get me to eventually slide Dak behind Bo Nix. But for right now, who's better, man? I mean, Dak is 10 times the quarterback Bo Nix is.

Starting point is 00:07:37 And I know matchup matters. I don't disagree. But then again, I made that case last time, and I proved wrong about it when Dak played Denver and was stuffed in a locker. So, but this is Casey's pasty is not quite as impregnable as Denver's is. One guy, you know, people will be like, well, of course you want to talk about him. But I think it's important to talk about, especially when you were going through fits like the depth of like, hey, I like the starters and then things get into question is Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy is ECR 15 this week. You guys both have him lower and rightfully so.

Starting point is 00:08:11 He was horrific in that game that they shouldn't have won with not just bad picks. But bad decisions across the board. He looked like a remake, a rerun of Jimmy Garoppolo. I was screaming for Mack Jones in that game. And then you're going to throw in the Browns in this one. The 49ers quarterbacks have been relatively chalk of like it's 202 touchdowns, but Brock Purdy looks so bad. Ricky Piercel is not involved in the offense.

Starting point is 00:08:35 It's very one-dimensional. Like there's a lot of problems with the 49ers. And I think Brock Purdy has gone from like a solid, streaming type of quarterback to to someone that you really can't take a look at. And Erickson, you have them the absolute lowest of anybody. You got him at 20 fits. You got him at 17. Erickson, we have to avoid Brock Purdy this week, correct?

Starting point is 00:08:54 Yes. Look, I am definitely the lowest person in ECR on Joe Burrow this week. I would still start Joe Burrow over Brock Purdy. Because I'm even lower on Purdy this week. This is the awful, awful matchup. Cleveland in November, on the road. Miles Garrett, especially with how Pretty played against the Carolina Panthers. Like, atrocious.

Starting point is 00:09:14 Throwing pick after pick. not reading the field, not reading the defense very well. So, I mean, if he comes out, throws another couple picks, I think Shanahan's going to keep him in. Like, that's something that kind of, it crosses my mind. Again, ever since Fitz brought up the thing about Justin Fields getting bench, like, that's not something I'm like considering with, hey, this quarterback starts out really, really bad.

Starting point is 00:09:34 Are we going to get garbage time production or production late in the second half? So that's a concern for me. I would stay as far away from Brock Purdy as possible this week. Yeah, Fitzman, you got them lower. I don't know if you have any other. big take and it's you know maybe even need to go lower on him but yeah i think everything is screaming this is a horrifically bad spot that yeah maybe in a super flex you can put him out there but you know he wasn't just making like bad reads it was the throws that were bad like he was off it to the point

Starting point is 00:10:02 where i don't think they would ever bench him but there might be a soft guys rock party's just not healthy enough let's get mac jones like that's how they would bench him uh they would never kill the confidence but what say you can you start brock purdy in week 13 the way he was with sailing throws Welsh, I thought they had snuck J.J. McCarthy into a 49-ish shirt in that game. Totally. So, yeah, it was pretty bad. Right now I've got Purdy at quarterback 17, which is kind of saying I don't want to start him very much. The only tough call here, and, you know, like, not to give myself a pat on the back, but like, I've done a pretty good job of ranking Jordan Love and just, like, I feel like Jordan Love has been a little bit overranked for how the Packers. want to play, which is conservatively and at a slow pace. So right now I've got pretty one spot ahead of Jordan Love.

Starting point is 00:10:53 I might flip-flop those two, especially, man, late November in Cleveland, like, we're probably going to have lousy weather for this game, aren't we? Like, I know here in the Chicago area, it is supposed to be like cold and snowy this weekend. So I would imagine it's going to be pretty similar in Cleveland. Yeah, and I think I'm going to do that right now. So Brock Purdy is going to be my quarterback 18. Can't move him any lower than that because I don't want to have him below Tyrod Taylor.

Starting point is 00:11:23 I don't really want to have him below Daniel Jones who has to go against the Texans. We've not given up a quarterback one season all year or a quarterback one week all year. Yeah. What about your boy, Kirk Cousins with Darnall Mooney? Yeah, no. No. Kurt Cousins is not going to be. They're going to continue to try to hide Kirk Cousins who had 23 pass attempts last week.

Starting point is 00:11:45 I want to play Brock Purdy as much as I want to play Shador Sanders. So I'll just put it at that at this point. Sam Darnold. Sam Darnold is QB16 on ECR. You guys are in a little different feelings. Fitsy, you're kind of on the lower end or more the ECR rank. Erickson's going to be on the high. What's your take on Sam Darnold for this week?

Starting point is 00:12:04 Do you have them above? Who is it you just said? The Brock Purdy and Jordan Love, do you have Darnold above them? Just ahead of those guys and just behind Trevor Lawrence. And it's not that I hate the matchup against. the Vikings. I just worry that the Vikings won't be able to push the Seahawks at all in this game with Max Brosmer at quarterback. And the Seahawks will go run heavy if they can. They have shown us that Sam Darnold has thrown fewer than 30 passes in seven of his 11 starts this year. So my fear

Starting point is 00:12:33 is that we get like 22 pass attempts for Sam Darnold in a game that the Seahawks win by three touchdowns. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... You actually have them at 12, so vibes are very high for you on Sam Darnold. Yeah, well, I do think that the Seahawks will probably kill the Minnesota Vikings. And in that case, they put up 30, 35 points. Yeah, it's possible that it's the running backs that eat or buckle up guys. We're going down narrative street. Sam Darnold facing his old team, the Minnesota Vikings. Let's get him surpassing touchdowns. Let's get JSN three touchdowns and 200 receiving yards because we wanted to break the record. I think that we're at a spot here where I couldn't believe this, but JSN has already broke

Starting point is 00:15:39 the all-time Seahawks receiving yards record that D.K. Meck have held like over 1,300 yards. and it's week 12. This is absolutely bonkers. So in a matchup where, oh, we can put up points, Sam Darnold facing his old team that didn't want him, that wanted to go with J.J. McCarthy, and it looks like an absolutely disastrous decision. Dude, gave me Sam Donald.

Starting point is 00:15:59 I think that he's going to be dealing. I think he's going to be motivated. And I think when the giving opportunities in the red zone, I don't think it's going to be Charbonnet. I don't think it's going to be Ken Walker. I think it's going to be Sam Donald, JSN. Pad those stats, baby. Oh, pull up Alexa,

Starting point is 00:16:10 turn right at Narrative Street. I'm all for a turn right at Narrative Street. I am with you. Let's go, baby. Let's go. I'm changing my directions immediately. All right, let's go to tight ends. Tight ends, getting through the quarterbacks here.

Starting point is 00:16:25 We've got the top 12 board. Starts us with Trey McBride at number one. George Kittled, nothing crazy on the top end of these guys. Brock Bowers at three, Travis Kelsey at four, Tyler Warren, Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews is a big old nothing burger always, but it's just a great matchup. So that's one I kind of have an issue with. Rhonda Gadsden comes in at 7.

Starting point is 00:16:43 Jake Ferguson, Hunter, Henry, Dallas Goddard, Kyle Pitts, and Joanne Johnson. You know, I have to ask this one. Fici, let's start with you then just real quick. Mark Andrews, where do you have him ranked? He does nothing every single week. Are you comfortable literally putting him in as like a top seven or eight tight-in just because it's the Bengals? Yep. Tighten six.

Starting point is 00:17:05 I mean, everyone just rocks the Bengals. I, Isaiah likely is a good spot start. DFS. option. Like everyone, every tight end just destroys the Bengals. Remember that came against Pittsburgh where like every Pittsburgh tight end had a touchdown against the Bengals. Like just every tight end eats against Cincinnati. Erickson, same thing with you. I mean, I know you're a Mark Andrews guy. He just, he does nothing every single week. So this is going to be the week where he catches two touchdowns. You have him as a tight end six or seven? You might catch three touchdowns,

Starting point is 00:17:36 to be honest. Exactly. This is just, been watching the Patriots Bengals game last week, dude, like there's there was literally no one around Hunter, Henry. I know. The entire game. The guy's like wide open. The Bengals are like, no, we're going to lock down the number one wide receiver, even though we can't stop the run. It's like, we're going to stop Stefan Diggs at all costs.

Starting point is 00:17:54 And Patriots are like, sick. And then once Drake May finally figured out that the tight ends are not being covered, dude, he just ripped it to Hunter Henry. Even Austin Hooper was productive in that game. So we know Mark Andrews has a ton of touchdown equity from the tush push that they run with him. And the fact that he always gets red zone targets. He should have caught a touchdown last week. So I get,

Starting point is 00:18:14 Lamar has obviously been really disappointing in fantasy. He had some opportunities last week to convert some more touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is so obvious of a smash spot for Mark Andrews. Like, it's crazy to think that we're really moving up a guy. I haven't had them four. Like, besides Tray McBride, like, dude, Brock Bowers, like Kelsey, if he got just a touchdown,

Starting point is 00:18:32 maybe he could outscore Mark Andrews. But, dude, I'm throwing some two touchdown bets on Mark Andrews for Thursday night football. He just dropped the dude on us, too. He's like, Like, dude, that's the breakdown. Every year there's the team that just can't cover tight ends. Like last year was the Panthers. But has there ever been a bigger welcome mat for tight ends than the Bengals this year?

Starting point is 00:18:54 Like everyone, everyone eats against Cincinnati. It's Skyline chili and Grater's ice cream for everyone. Every tight end you face is the Bengals. It's absurd. The thing that does work really well in it, because like this one also is a little bit narrative street because it's just like it's an incredible matchup, but also if you look like Lamar Jackson's been bad, Mark Andrews is not getting targets and stuff like that,

Starting point is 00:19:16 but it is such a good matchup. The thing that works really well is look at the, you know, just turn around and look at the trail behind him. It's not a bunch of trailblazers, you know, Kyle Pitts, disappointment without Drake London,

Starting point is 00:19:27 Goddard, eh, Hunter Henry is an interesting one, and they got the Giants this week, and he's a big touchdown equity guy, and he gets a volume. So I think there's maybe an argument there. Gadsden's been a little bit phased out. So I do think there's some,

Starting point is 00:19:41 guys that you can have the discussion about. But to be fair, it's not like there's like these amazing tight ends behind it. You want to play upside. It is an incredible matchup for Mark Andrews and that's why he sits there. Another really interesting tight end, we move out because this is like the core players.

Starting point is 00:19:57 You're most likely not not starting the Goddards and the Henry's and even the Joanne Johnson I think is a good matchup. But Britain Strange, just Brenton Strange entered the chat at Titan 14 this past week, got some targets, Got yards. You guys have them right around this same general range. Is Britain Strange one of the

Starting point is 00:20:16 reasons why the tight end depth feels better than the quarterback depth? Let's start with you, Erickson. What are your what are your vibes on Brent and Strange knowing that Brian Thomas could be back as well this week? I love Brent Strange this week. I think that he is a borderline tight end fantasy one. The thing with Trevor Lawrence is, and this is something I wish I considered more in terms of Brian Thomas Jr.'s ranking this year is who have been the most successful wide receivers in Trevor Lawrence's career. It's been Evan Ingram as a tight end and Christian Kirk as a slot-wide receiver.

Starting point is 00:20:46 Brian Thomas Jr. is neither of those things. So, of course, he's bad with Trevor Lawrence. Meanwhile, Jacoby Myers. I mean, Jacob Myers has been productive like, he showed up three weeks ago and he's like been pretty productive for three straight weeks because he's a slot receiver

Starting point is 00:20:58 that Trevor Lawrence fits in really well stylistically. Brenton Strange. Misses all this time with injury, immediately comes back and immediately goes back to Trevor Lawrence as his go-to guy as a tight end. So, yeah, like these are the guys that Trevor Lawrence feels comfortable throwing the ball to,

Starting point is 00:21:12 he, Brett and Strange is Trevor Lawrence's safety net. It's a good matchup against Tennessee Titans. So, yeah, I mean, if Strange is out there on waivers, again, he was dropped in a lot of leagues because he got hurt. But I know I had to start him last weekend in Dynasty League because it was either him or T.J. Hawkinson. And I was like, not a chance going back to T.J. Hawkins. I'll play the guy coming off injured reserve.

Starting point is 00:21:30 So that ended up working out. And I think you got to go right back to it. Fitz, do you think that Brent and Strange belongs in the tier of like the Joanne Johnson's, the Cow Pits, I think Theo Johnson's right outside of that, or is he the start of the next tier? No, I think he does belong in that tier. And for reasons, Erickson outlined, I mean, Trevor Lawrence, it does seem like he would rather throw to tight ends than to, you know, Brian Thomas, never mind that he has the total package of like size speed and everything. But, yeah, I mean, a couple of years ago, Evan Engram had 143 targets and 114 catches playing

Starting point is 00:22:06 with Trevor Lawrence. And like, we just got reminded about how much Trevor Lawrence loves throwing the tight ends when Brent and Strange came back after not being around for weeks and immediately five catches for 93 yards. All right. Final one here is Colson Loveland, who has been a big positive, but we don't seem to be sharing big major positive vibes on him this week. It is against Philly. He comes in at 16. You guys both have him at 17. Fitsy, why don't you take us home with your thoughts on Colston Leveland. He's behind Brenton Strange. He's behind quite a few of these guys. Maybe he is the start of the next tier of tight ends. Yeah, Loveland has looked so good lately. He is a guy I'm going to be really excited about drafting in 2026, but the Eagles are just so

Starting point is 00:22:52 tough on tight ends. Philly is giving up the second fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends behind only the bills. So I think this is kind of a week to cool your heels on Colston Loveland. it. Erickson, your rank kind of says the same thing, but do you agree? Do we need to chill on Loveland for this week? And is he in the tier? Is he the bottom tier of the like, you know, the Schultz, the Theo Johnson's? Or is he in the next top tier of this next grouping?

Starting point is 00:23:18 I think he's at the bottom of that tier. Because I think that worst case scenario, if you've got to start Colston Loveland, I don't think that you're dead on arrival. I mean, he's been really consistent despite the fact that he's still kind of been splitting snaps in certain games with Cole Clement. He has three or more catches in six straight games. And like Fitz said, the dude is just good at football. Like, he looks like an absolute monster. And once he gets fully unlocked when Cole Clement leaves next year in free agency, I'm right there with Fitz. It's like, who's going to be this year's Tucker Kraft? It's

Starting point is 00:23:47 going to be close in Loveland. Like, I feel very strong thinking about that for 2026 tight end rankings that Loveland is going to be that guy. But the matchup is is obviously brutal against Philadelphia Eagles. So that's where you're most concerned that again, probably more of a floor play if he finds the end zone, you're obviously glad that you started in him. But I think there are probably more better tight-end options just this week. Well, you guys can find all those options over at Fantasypros.com slash rankings. Go through there. You can see the ECR as it changes all the way to kickoff to make all your big, tough decisions.
