Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Hello, everybody. Welcome into the Fantasy Pros Football Podcast. I'm Ryan warmly joined as I am every Thursday morning by Pat Fitzmores and by Jake Seeley from The Athletic.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Guys, this is our Thursday show. We talk some starts. We talk some sits. We talk some waiver ads this week that we didn't have last week. And we'll also do our touchdown calls at the end of the show. Quick reminder for everybody that all of our 2025 consensus rankings and tiers can be found at Fantasyprose.com. slash rankings. Fitz, well, as we are here, you know, a weekend of the season, what were some of
Starting point is 00:01:05 your early takeaways from week one? How are you feeling about all the teams you drafted? Where's your head at one weekend? Yeah, I mean, it was kind of a mixed bag, of course, in week one. Luckily not too many injuries, although we, you know, are dealing with the news that Brock Purdy is going to miss maybe a month or so. Yeah, I mean, it was an interesting week. Like, week one, the unpredictability, who would have thought that in the early window, the only game to go over the Vegas total would be Steelers Jets and it would go flying over the total and almost get there by halftime. Maybe that's the kind of unpredictable season we're in for this year. Jake, what's your headspace like one weekend? It's one week. Relax, basically, to use that old
Starting point is 00:01:49 cliche. I was actually just looking at her good friend, the Welsh, and I actually sent him a text and say congratulations on going viral and I'm looking right now. And now he has almost nearly a million views for that Christian McCaffrey sucking the life force out of George Kedell, Brock Bertie, Brandon Ayuk, and Joanne, Janney's just to stay healthy this year. Kudos to him for that. Like, definitely was the tweet of the week. But it's sad for them. But again, for everybody out there, don't overreact this week one.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Actually, you know what? I will pause here for a second. I'm going to take the floor from your worm, if that's okay. It is. For everybody that tuned in at the beginning of August and the end of July and never since on these shows we were doing together and said that I'm pulling back, pulling back, pulling back, pulling back, pulling back on Kenneth Walker being the bell cow. You guys know I said that. How many times did I say it to you guys when I was like, you have to be on the field to be a bell cow? Please tune into the entire story. I moved them all the way
Starting point is 00:02:40 down to RB 18. Please come for me if you drafted early August. I suffered the same pain. I feel the pain of having them as my anchor running back where I went three wide receivers to start. So I understand that. but at the same time, there was additional information. So stay tuned. You can come for me, but also come for me within the right time, is all I'm saying. Don't capitulate on this, Jake. Like, we don't, we'll talk more about this during the show, I'm sure. But, like, I don't think you need to capitulate on Kenneth Walker just yet.
Starting point is 00:03:08 He will be coming up later in the episode. The way this episode is going to work for those who are just tuning in for the first time this week, we've got a couple different segments for you. We're going to talk about some of the popular waiver ads this weekend. If these are guys that we are going to be considering starting right off the bat, or if they're more stashes for the long term. We're going to plan our flag on some players, guys, that we just really are convicted in for this week.
Starting point is 00:03:27 And then, of course, we've got some start sit player debates. We've got some larger ones at running back and receiver than some more rapid fire quick start sit decisions at every position, including flex later on in the show. And we'll, of course, wrap things up, as I mentioned before, with our touchdown calls contest where we predict a touchdown for each position. We got to do as well as week one. I, well, Harrison hit.
Starting point is 00:03:49 He was the only one, I guess. No, Connor. Oh, Connor, we hit Connor too. Sorry, I don't know the last week. I know mine didn't hit, which is what I'm really thinking about. I was just talking about me and fits on that one. Yeah, well, you guys could do is, well, let's see how you guys do when you have to pick the tight ends. Okay, that's always the most difficult one.
Starting point is 00:04:06 I know. I will say. You gave yourself a really bad draw out of the gate on that one. Yeah, that was a tough start. But I'm not on tight end this week. So we'll get to that at the end of the show. Let's start off with, are we starting or sitting some of these popular waiver ads from this week? And the reason we included this segment, we started doing it last year is because it's very interesting.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Like a lot of the times everybody gets all excited about, okay, let's go, you know, spend all our fab and our waiver priority and get whoever the hot names are of the week. But then you are forced with the question of, am I starting this over the guy I was already starting in this spot unless you had an injury that makes it clear? Or is this somebody that is now on my bench and kind of just on the team moving forward. So I have four names in here. It'll be about three or four each week, just kind of the most popular guys. And this is through our Saints League data on fantasy.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Nancy pros is where I'm drawing who these names are that are the most popular ads of the week. I'll start with Quentin Johnson, who was number one on that list. Jake, are you starting him or sitting him here in week two? I'm starting him if I need to shoot for sealing. The encouraging part was that he was out there more than Keenan Allen and that Keenan Allen was primarily the slot in three wide option. That being said, Keenan Allen still right neck and neck with him in targets with the fact that he had a higher target share while on the field than, Quentin Johnston overall because Justin Herbert still looks for him. The good news, the end zone and red zone targets were going to Quentin Johnston.
Starting point is 00:05:26 We know the big playability. I'm definitely buying in that it might hit. This was a first round draft talent. And I've said this before. I don't know where Fitz falls on this one, but I thought it was weird that Quentin Johnston, when he was drafted, everyone said, you need patience. He needs development. He's a raw prospect.
Starting point is 00:05:43 And after year one, we got what we expected. And people are like, well, he sucks. And now I understand year two, the drops became a more. more of an issue and we're magnified by some island games and big play opportunities. But it's still, it's not a shock for somebody to take three years. We used to be playing this five, six, seven years ago as in year three breakout. Year three breakout was the thing at wide receiver. And I present all I to say is like, I am starting him, but still no more as a wide receiver
Starting point is 00:06:08 for just because I don't think he's definitively that far ahead of Keen and Allen, despite the fact that he was at the three wide sets because they are running more three wide than we probably expected from this offense. So I have them in similar ranges. Keenan Allen would be the floor, Quentin Johnson would be the upside. I just don't think you have to slam him in your lineup this early just yet. Fitz, what do you think? I've got him ranked wide receiver 44. Like, I think Quentin Johnson is... Why do you hate him? I have him 43. Yeah, I mean, like, so in a league where you have to start three receivers or where you have to start maybe two or three flex guys, like I think you're probably starting him. But to Jake's point, you know, like Quentin Johnston, he always had that size speed combination, and he is just a freight train with the ball in his hands. But like, if he's actually learned a catch and he looked pretty good catching the ball against the Chiefs, this is like happy Gilmore learning how to pot.
Starting point is 00:07:06 How about Harold Fanon Jr. Fitz, you and I talked about him a lot on the Dynasty show throughout the last several months. Now here in his first NFL game has seven catches in week one. We know that Joe Flacco does like tight ends for as long as he's. is there in Cleveland, but here in week two, Fitz, are you starting Fanon? Well, I think he's probably a start for a lot of the people who picked him up, since I'm guessing a lot of those people were replacing either George Kittle or Evan Engram or maybe Dallas Goddard, who's questionable for this week. But like if you just picked him up as kind of a luxury guy behind someone like Tucker Kraft
Starting point is 00:07:42 or Tyler Warren, obviously not. And, you know, as excited as I am about Fanon, some of his week once. success may have been opponent related. The Bengals were really beaten up by tight ends last year. And, you know, then Fanon and David Nijoku combined for 10 catches and 100 yards against the Bengals last week. So for this week, I mean, I think I'd actually rather play Brenton Strange of the Jaguars because of the Jaguars are going up against the Bengals.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Harold Fanon Jr. is tight end 17. Jake, where do you have them ranked? 16, just one spot. I completely agree with Fitz. And, you know, I kind of push back. and my ranks column at the athletic, and I said, you know, he had 64.6% of the routes. That's cool. That's actually half decent for a tight end. But Isaiah Likely is the comparison I drew.
Starting point is 00:08:30 We did this with Isaiah Likeley last year. And Isaiah Likely only topped that mark six times last year. Two of those were his double-digit games. The other games where he didn't also had two double-digit games. I think Fanon and Likely are a good parallel. Is there the more athletic, arguably the higher ceiling on both of their teams, tight end option, it's just when you run two tight ends, it's very hard to get value from one, let alone two. Now, if they keep phasing away from Injoku because he's a free agent or even
Starting point is 00:09:00 Njoku gets hurt, cool. I'm just with fits on this one, like strange. He's in that conversation. I do have Fanon over got it because he's banged up. I have him over Evan Ingram, who, by the way, split with a third tight end and Lucas Crowell to give you that headache. Thank you for that, Broncos. But it's just the fact of the volume of being on the field. So it's tight end. If you want to shoot for the upside, but I'm with Fitz. I'm not benching craft for him. I would play Juan Johnson over him. I think there's just a few that feel a little bit safer, but the ceiling's there because he's a tight end. Just to extend the Fanon likely comparison to guys who burned up a lot of week two fab money in each of the last two years. Yeah, for sure. Kishon Booty, very popular
Starting point is 00:09:42 waiver ad, kind of coming back from the dead in terms of his fantasy value here with Drake May. Jake, what do you think about Kisham Booty as a potential start in a deeper league, obviously, for this week? Yeah, I grabbed him in a few of my leagues, but it's a grab and wait, in my opinion, mostly because, so my biggest concern for the Patriots coming out of week one was the fact that Douglas was only out there about 60% of the routes, despite the fact Stefan Diggs wasn't fully integrated. Stefan Diggs wasn't even out there for 50%. And yet Diggs got his targets. Douglas didn't see that boost from last year. It was Booty, which is cool. Like I, this is somebody that before he got hurt in college was thought of as a potential day one,
Starting point is 00:10:21 at least a day two prospect at wide receiver. And he even echoed to that himself. So I know the appeal. I just have a little hesitation for May in general. And then also is digs going to see 20, 30 more percent of the routes this week? And then if so, just how does that feck booty who Hunter Henry just keeps getting involved? And of course, the passing game in the backfield. So it's kind of a does the volume carry over.
Starting point is 00:10:44 If you want to play them, I'm not going to. hate you for it. I would just be a little bit cautious about thinking you're going to get that every single week until we see what the full offense looks like. Fitz in ECR, Booty is wide receiver 40, or excuse me, 54. Douglas is up at wide receiver 52. Diggs is at wide receiver 41, just for reference. Are you starting or sitting Kishon? I think I'm sitting them this week. Nice depth piece for sure, but no, no teams on buys and, you know, the injuries haven't really gotten cranked up yet, although they're like a dozen guys with shoulder injuries at wide receiver for some reason. That's the new in vogue injury of 2025, but I don't think you're starting booty this week.
Starting point is 00:11:22 Yeah, that one feels kind of easy. This other one might feel easy depending on, you know, where you're looking in the rankings. Marquis-Hawleywood Brown is at wide receiver 31 in ECR, Jake. He is the fourth most out of player this week. I want to throw him in here. Like obviously there's real runway here for him to get a ton of targets. Is that enough for you to be starting him this week? That's funny.
Starting point is 00:11:40 I have him right at 31. The matchups a little bit concerning, but at the same time, the volume is going to offset it. Like, it's just going to be volume, volume, volume. I mean, we're talking about Juju Smith-Schuster and all these other options. We still don't have Royals out there, you know. And if Travis Kelsey in that game where we saw Xavier Worthy get hurt, which, by the way, thanks a lot, Travis Kelsey. I don't know if that was a hit, by the way, because I don't know if you saw that Taylor Swift was talking up that she likes Xavier Worthy. So maybe Kelsey went out with the hit in week one to take him out.
Starting point is 00:12:08 But whatever it might be, I think the volume is going to offset it. the problem is the A dot. We're going to need 10 targets. I'm not going to give him a 16 again, but we're going to need 10 to probably get Y Receiver 2 value. But that's okay because he kind of lives in that world. But that's why he's 31 and not 21 or even higher because that A dot is just going to stay so short for him. Let's go to.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Oh, sorry, Fitz. I forgot to ask you about how. Fitz chime in there. Like he was ready to go. That's my fault. Fitz what he got on for half? Well, Jake covered it so thoroughly. You didn't really need to throw it to me.
Starting point is 00:12:40 I totally agree with. Jake. I mean, I guess the only reason why you wouldn't start him would be if Xavier worthy were somehow able to play because, you know, got Andy Reid calling him day to day, you know, apparently planning to put him in a suit of armor or something and let him go out there. But yeah, I don't think he's playing. So I think you are starting Hollywood. All right. Now, let's now go to our plant your flag segment. And Fitz, I'll start with you to make it up to you. Which player are you? Again, this is just the guy that you really feel strong. So it doesn't have to be like your number one ranked player, obviously. But the guy that you are just really interesting. sit in and convicted in about starting this week. Who's your plant, your flag player? Jameson Williams do not be discouraged by his four catches for 23 yards last week. I think Jamo goes off this week against a bear's defense likely to be without its best
Starting point is 00:13:25 cornerback, Jalen Johnson. And, you know, our colleague Andrew Erickson refers to Ford Field as the Coors Field of the NFL. It's a place where we often see offensive pyrotechnics. We certainly did not see offensive pyrotechnics from the last. Lions in Green Bay last week, but this is a get-right spot for Detroit against Chicago. Jameson Williams fits is actually two spots behind Marquise Brown in ECR for this week. I assume because you had this conviction on him, you would start Jameson?
Starting point is 00:13:56 Absolutely. Okay. Jake, what do you think about Williams real quick? I agree. I actually think this is a great bounce-back spot. You look at the fact that I think we talked about it last year. I don't remember 17 podcasts. Somewhere I talked about it.
Starting point is 00:14:07 I said that Jared Goff's outdoorness, whatever you want to call it, I'm making that a word. It was a little bit overinflated on what really happens. He's not that bad outdoors. And we actually saw late in December, by the way, two outdoor games, including what Fitz just brought up in Chicago, where he had really good games. But the one place he struggled, no matter what time of the year, September, being a couple of those games, something about playing in Green Bay.
Starting point is 00:14:30 And part of it is Green Bay defense. But he just struggles in general. And also, let's not look past it. I go back to Eli Manning when they changed offensive coordinators like seven, eight years into his career and everybody's like, hey, you need to wait for maybe six games before he gets really comfortable with the new offense. And he echoed that sentiment. And I don't think Morton overhauled the offense, but there were changes. There were more changes than he led on in week one. So I'm giving golf a little bit of a pass too as he's getting acclimated to this.
Starting point is 00:14:59 So I'm going to bounce back spot with him. I have him clearly ahead of Marquis Brown. Jake, I'll stick with you. Who's your plant, your flag player? I'm going Jordan Mason if you need a running back. So the big thing that I noticed is and hopefully a lot of people saw this because of the island game that it was, but they were behind most of that game. And yet Jordan Mason was on the field for most of that game as the lead runner. 16 rush attempts to eight for Aaron Jones. And I know we've talked about this before, that this could be a backfield split. And Aaron Jones in the passing game makes him valuable.
Starting point is 00:15:30 And there was a little bit of hesitation on Jordan Mason. But if they're going to roll out was essentially the Harris Jalen Warren Steelers backfield, and that's kind of how they're going to treat it. I think you can start Jordan Mason in a game that we actually expect them to potentially be contended, if not with the lead earlier than they were against the Bears. And in that case, if Jordan Mason has another 15 to 20 touches, put them in your week two lineup for those that need running back help. Fitz, Jordan Mason is RB 31 in ECR.
Starting point is 00:15:59 By the way, this is half PPR scoring whenever I'm referencing ECR typically unless I specifically say otherwise. Jordan Mason RB 31. Aaron Jones is RB 28. eight fits. Do you think those should be switched or do you agree that Jones should be a few spots higher? I've got Mason, RB 31 and Jones, R.B. 29. So I'm pretty much right in line with ECR on that. The only reason I don't like Mason a little bit more than that is like the Falcons are kind of a sneaky good run defense. Like they allow the ninth fewest fantasy points to running backs last year and the 10th fewest rushing yards to running backs last year. So like they're not a pushover
Starting point is 00:16:37 with their run defense, past defense, different story. But yeah, he's kind of borderline for me. We are extremely excited to announce our new presenting sponsor, Hard Rock Bet. Everybody knows and loves the Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos. Starting point is 00:17:57 Hey, it's us to Jonas brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:18:08 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down?
Starting point is 00:18:34 Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing. a bit for the podcast for people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman helped make you funny. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Breaking down the plays, the controversies, and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athletes themselves. Their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls, we break it down, give you context and ask the questions everybody wants answered. Sports slice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people. people who live them listen to sports slice on the i heart radio app apple podcast or wherever you
Starting point is 00:20:12 get your podcast and for more follow timbo slice of life 12 and the tictock podcast network on tic guys let's get into some of our start sit player debates we'll start off at running back two guys who depending on how you were approaching your drafts like maybe felt fairly late relative to where they were going the year before there was definitely some fading of these players by some people that I saw online, but they both had really big week ones. Travis E.T.N. and Brees Hall. Jake, I'll start with you. Would you rather start E.T.N. or Hall this week. I want to start both of them. They're both inside my top 20. But I will go still Hall with a slight edge over E.T.N. I know week one was everything we could have asked for from Leon Cohen in the Jaguar's
Starting point is 00:20:56 offense, including the trading away of Tank Bigs me. Cool. Clear that up. The one interesting part about it is that LeQuint Allen was kind of in that our Rashad White role, which was actually the player I compared him to during the draft process, funny enough. And I only bring that up to say that even though we saw Bucky Irving outplay Rashad White last year, it took almost the entire season for Liam Cohen to finally Belkow, I put that in quotes, Bucky Irving. So all that being said, I still want to start EATN in everywhere that I can, but I trust Hall a little bit more. It's not anything that's changed from what you guys and I previously talked about when I brought it up to you that they used the bigger running back next to Justin Fields. And I mean that as in any
Starting point is 00:21:34 team that's used Justin Fields. They usually put the bigger body next to him once they're inside the 10-yard line to offset his skill set. That being said, we know that Justin Fields can and does throw to running backs. And he did with Breece Hall. It was that explosiveness. It's that the fact that who is still their number two right now, Josh Reynolds. So I think the real number two is Breece Hall. So I'm okay with it. I think they're going to have similar workloads. And again, the passing game, I think is a little bit better. As crazy as that might sound to people, I think the passing game upside is better for Breeze Hall. than it is for ETN. Fitz, I think it's probably fair that a lot of people would agree with Jake in terms of like,
Starting point is 00:22:11 ideally you'd like to be starting both of these guys. But I think there's probably a lot of builds out there where, you know, they're strong at receivers or there's not room in the flex. And, you know, they took another running back early. And you really have to pick between these two, given how late ETN was going. So if you were forced to not start both, but pick one, there are RB15 and RB16, respectively, in ECR. Who would you pick?
Starting point is 00:22:32 And that's how I have them. RB-15 and RB-16. I've E-TN ranked one spot higher, but I don't have a real strong feeling about this. It certainly seems like Liam Cohen wants E.T.N. to be the main man in the Jaguar's backfield, after what we saw in their win over the Panthers and after, you know, James Gladstone traded away at Tank Bigsby to the Eagles, ETN played 60.6% of the Jaguars offensive snaps last week. Bigsby was second in snaps in the Jaguars backfield, but now he's gone. so maybe that snapshot ticks up even a little more for ETN this week. And as for Hall, like after an entire offseason of Aaron Glenn saying he wanted to use all three of his running backs,
Starting point is 00:23:15 I mean, the Jets did play Braylin Allen and Isaiah Davis some. And Braylin Allen had an eight-yard touchdown run, but Hall played 57.8 percent of the Jets snaps. Pretty healthy snapshot there. I'd, you know, feel slightly more confident in the size of E.T.N.'s role, I guess, but still very, encouraging use for Hall in week one. I won't ask the same question on every player debate, but for these two in particular, do you guys feel like in terms of your rest of season rankings, you are aggressively moving them up after just one week? Because these were two guys that, like I said at the beginning, there were some people who liked them and thought they were
Starting point is 00:23:51 good values where they were and worthy risks, but these were not players that were being aggressively fought after on draft day for the most part. So do you guys feel like one week I've seen enough both these guys like kind of full steam ahead going forward if you have the space of stardom borderline set it and forget it jake or are do you still have any like kind of trepidation based on let's not overreact to just one week so i had hold 22 preseason i'd probably move them up two spots bump out becheco and obviously kenneth walker to go back to that at rb 18 so that would pretty much be at like right around 20 maybe a spot or two more if we want to do a complete toss-up so he's not moving that much etienne was always my highest ranked jaguar but
Starting point is 00:24:32 But that being said, I still had him as an RB3. And part of it was Tank, basically, was still around, not knowing if Leon Cohen was really going to turn to ETN or try to make Bigsby a thing in ETN a timeshare piece. So the fact that it's already been cleared up, I think you can argue ETN should jump into at least back in RB2 value, if not even a little bit higher. Fitz. Hall was running back 16 in my preseason rankings.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Now he's up to 14 in rest of season rankings, so a slight move up. ETN was running back 34 for me. Like I just, I had no idea which way that backfield was going to go and thought, you know, last year of his contract, maybe he could be aced out at some point. And now I've got him at RB 14. Like huge, huge change in the way. Probably no one else in the league I viewed through more of a different lens after one week than Travis. Can I do a follow-up question for Fitz there?
Starting point is 00:25:28 Sure. Is it ETN over every rookie running back not named Gentie now? Ooh, let's see. I think I might have Hampton. I have Hampton one spot, three spots ahead of it. I've got Hampton RB 13. Okay. Hampton is two spots behind an ECR for this week, for the record, just to give context there.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And, you know, guys like Trayvon Henderson are, you know, seven spots behind and beyond. And beyond, Genties up at RB 11 for week two, just to give those numbers. Jake, you keep talking about Kenneth Walker. Let's get to him for our second running back debate here. This is for week two, not for the rest of the season. Kenneth Walker or Giovante Williams coming off of his two touchdown game in the opener. I have them on completely separate tiers, Javante Williams. I will admit, Javonte Williams didn't look 100% pre-injury Javante Williams.
Starting point is 00:26:17 I'd say he was about 90%, but that was the opportunity we're looking for is, hey, can he look something like we used to know? But the biggest thing here is something like we used to know, they almost put that Gotea song in my head and now I just did. Just is Javante Williams kind of falls into what I think is Joe Mixing, if healthy, Nick Chub right now. And it's the volume. And like I do think there'll be touches given away. Miles Sanders did get some.
Starting point is 00:26:41 And then of course that fumble didn't help things. Jadam Blue still isn't ready, according to Jerry Jones and everybody with his staff and then probably inactive again this week. So as long as he's healthy, it's a volume play. And especially against the Giants, which the one part about going back to the Giants that brought up in week one is that to get away from that defensive line is you want to get some space and get some runs out to the side, but also some receptions. And going against the Giants, Giovante Williams over Miles Sanders in that area. So that's why. And to speak one more time to Kenneth Walker, like I said, I wasn't saying don't come from me. Please do. Like if you drafted in August,
Starting point is 00:27:14 I am sorry. The clear thing here is I'm hoping, and maybe Fitz is kind of his opinion, I don't want to speak for him. I'm kind of curious how you feel, though, is maybe he's still not 100%. Maybe he's still being worked back in. The appeal for Walker was the fit in the Kubiak system. But week one, the fact that Sharbonnet got the goal line touches and they kind of used Walker as the past down running back, I'm just concerned that that doesn't continue throughout the entire season. And maybe the door was so open for Charbonnet that Kubiak already made his decision.
Starting point is 00:27:44 And that's how they're going to play it unless an injury happens. Fitz, what do you think? I think Walker is probably one of the most discussed players this week coming off of week one. Disgusting. of like, what? Yeah, that's probably a better way to put it. Just like, you know, he, I mean, again, the fit and the offense was really appealing.
Starting point is 00:28:01 He was one of my most targeted players in that like round three and four range. If I was going receiver early, largely because of what Jake said early in August. I'm just getting, I liked him already too. But I just, like, you could see the upside case so clearly. And now we've seen just in one week the downside case, you know, not true, you know, full downside, but like the way in which the ceiling doesn't get hit. So when you look at Walker compared to a guy like Javante who still does not look like the player he used to be, but has this amazing. I was shouting from the rooftops that he was going RB 37 in real-time ADP by the end of draft season.
Starting point is 00:28:37 And I was like, that is insane. This is the starting running back who is going to get, I think pretty much every touch he can handle just because there's no other competition there. For an offense that I expect to be like the poor man's Bengals this year. I think he's going to be the poor man's Chase Brown, not as good a player, but we'll have that kind of opportunity. So you compare him like that, who did take advantage of a Jalen Carter list defense to a guy like Kenneth Walker where the talent's really there. But, you know, we have so many questions about the opportunity. How do you square those two? They're two spots apart in ECR.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Javante's RB 22, Walker's RB 24. Yeah, you're right about Walker being probably the most discussed player this week, early this week, and the, you know, post-week-1 aftermath. And like I hosted a Q&A on the Fantasy Pros' disqual. court last night. I got more questions about Kenneth Walker than any other player. But, you know, at the top of the show, I told Jake he should not capitulate on Kenneth Walker, at least not yet. Look, I'm not that worried about the Seahawks running back usage in week one. Like, yes, Charbonnet out snapped Kenneth Walker 30 to 21. But as Jake sort of alluded to, Walker was dealing with the foot injury last season and he missed some practice
Starting point is 00:29:47 time in August with foot soreness. I think the Seahawks are just being a little cautious here. Arbene is one of the better backup running backs in the league. So they can afford to lighten Walker's load if he's not 100%. But, like, I don't think the foot issue is a big concern. And maybe evidence of that is that Walker got touches on a really high percentage of his snaps. He played 21 snaps. He either carried the ball or ran a route on 19 of them. He had 10 carries and three catches.
Starting point is 00:30:16 So touch the ball on more than half of his 21 snaps. So, like, I'm still pretty bullish. should I am very high on the Kubiak running game. So, Giovante, you know, he had the two touchdowns against the Eagles. There just wasn't a lot of sizzle in his performance, though. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry against an Eagles defense that was missing Jalen Carter. So I still feel much better about Walker than I do about Javante. And like, this is from someone who, to your point worm, I fell backwards into Javante Williams in a lot of drafts.
Starting point is 00:30:51 and I really was not that into him, but I wound up getting him on like three or four teams just because no one wanted to take him. I, on Giovante on the performance against Philly, I just wanted to quickly say like, and I didn't go back and look at actually like what his, you know,
Starting point is 00:31:08 yards per carry was before the delay and after. It did feel like those were, it was like a tale of two different games just for the offenses in general when they had that hour plus lightning delay in the opener. So I don't know if his yards per carry and like efficiency, just the general offensive performance, like, dropped a lot during that when looking at the course of the whole game. It felt like that kind of threw everybody off and they came out a bit rusty.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I mean, so the scoring was way down after that. So I'm curious to see how he does, you know, moving forward against a more normal team, but he's facing Dexter Lawrence this week. So, you know, that's maybe not the easiest matchup for him. And we'll see how that goes. Let's go to the wide receiver debates here. Tyreek Hill versus Ricky Pearsall. Pierce Hall, obviously interesting in that he had a pretty good looking, you know, first game in terms of the usage. And, you know, he's obviously a talented player. But now we have this quarterback issue in San Francisco, going to be Mack Jones for a monthish. You kind of mentioned it at the top of the show. Fits that there's a little uncertainty about what that exactly is going to look like. But I have him here going head to head against, you know, just a player on the most seemingly dysfunctional and the worst vibes team that I can ever recall seeing in week one in my life. And I watch the Ravens beat. the Miami Dolphins, 59 to 10 in week one in Lamar's second season, his first year as a starter.
Starting point is 00:32:25 And I still feel like the vibes were worse in this week one game than they were in 2019. That's how just bad. It looked on both sides of the ball for Miami. So, Fitz, I'll start with you on this one. Hill or Pearsall. Who do you like better this week? I suspect this is going to be a, this opinion is going to put me in the minority here. But I would play Tyreek.
Starting point is 00:32:45 I know there's a chance Pierceall gets a lot of targets this week with George. Kittle out with a hamstring injury. Juan Jennings probably out with a shoulder injury. And like, I don't think we should be that alarmed that it's going to be Mac Jones at QB rather than Brock Purdy because of Purdy's toe injury. But I also think there's a good chance. Christian McCaffrey touches the ball 25 times and Brian Robinson touches it a dozen times. And the 49ers just try to beat a bad Saints team with a ball control attack that mostly
Starting point is 00:33:13 uses the running game and the short passing game. As for Tyreek, our guy Dibro made some really interesting points about him in the primer this week. So the dolphins pulled their starters in the fourth quarter because they were getting steamrolled by the Colts. But in the first three quarters, Tyreek had a 27.8% target share, a 48.2% air yard share, a 30.8% first read share. And he averaged 2.5 yards per route run. All really encouraging numbers. but unfortunately, you know, Tua was just awful. So Tariq Hill had like four catches for 40 yards.
Starting point is 00:33:50 I don't think Tua is terrible. Like he led the league in passing yardage a couple of years ago. He just had a really, really bad game. Dolphins are back at home. They're playing the Patriots who've been playing without star cornerback, Christian Gonzalez. And they got completely firebombed by Gino Smith and the Raiders passing game last week. I'm still starting Tyreek Hill.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Jake, I'm curious, not just what do you think about these two players, you know, head to head. But what you think about the Miami situation in general, if you are buying into the idea that, hey, this is just like as bad as it gets in week one. But, you know, they're still healthy. So let's give them a chance for a bounce back. Or if this is just going to be a lost season for them. I think it could be the latter. I mean, let me ask you guys one question.
Starting point is 00:34:31 What the hell did Mike McDaniel do since last January? Like, what the hell did he do? Because the NFL adjusted to Mike McDaniel in offense and he had an entire offseason to do the same. and through week one, at least, it looked like Jack bleep. You know what? Like there's no, there's no sugar-coding it to the fact of there's no excuse. Like, there's a reason he's on the hot seat. There's a reason that Greer's on the hot seat.
Starting point is 00:34:54 The offensive line is still a question mark. And the biggest concern I have, which is going to maybe even sound crazy, but it has nothing to do with the players, is that he didn't shove Tyree Kill under the bus, but he kind of like nudged him off the corner there and saying like, I'm sorry, not Tyra Kill Tua, about the quarterback play. he kind of like walk past him, kind of like bumped into him as the bus was coming by. Like when you take shots at your quarterback, you're in panic mode.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Like your job is on the line and you're in panic mode. So I am going Ricky Pearson. I don't fault Fitz for still sticking with Tyree Kill actually would trade low if I could or buy low on him. I have people asking me if they should drop Jalen Wattle. There's no way on earth I'm dropping Jalen Wattle after one bad game. But I lean to what Fitch said though is Mack Jones supported Brian Thomas enough that Brian Thomas was a top 10 wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:35:42 I think he can do the same for Ricky Pearsall to, in this start, whether or not Jennings is out there to offset the volume. The one concern, I think, would be the floor. And I'm the fist didn't say this, but I wonder if you would agree. The floor would be, what if Mack Jones locks in on a healthy Joanne. Like, if John Jones is out there and Mac Jones locks in on him instead of Pears. I think that's the one risk. And I can see that happening if Jennings is out there.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Yeah. The 49ers' offensive general, like I wonder if this is. maybe like foolish of me but um i just like i don't really care what the quarterback is like i just have too much faith in kyle shanhan and like we've seen him do it with with really surprising and bad quarterbacks in the past to the point where like mac jones is good enough that i'm like you know what like with with kyle shanhan calling plays and designing stuff like i think he can be enough and i think that's a great point on the brian thomas junior thing how like we have seen him kind of support you know, this really elite level receiver play from a guy before. Fitz, what do you make of Jake's
Starting point is 00:36:40 point about, like, maybe he just locks in on Jennings? Yeah, that could be. You just, that's the thing you just don't know how it's going to work with Mack Jones at the controls. That's like a little bit of my hesitation with Pearsall. But I think Pearsall is an obvious start this week, though. Yeah. Let's go to another wide receiver debate here. And this is a player that I included in the start sit from the waiver ad section, but I thought it was interesting. They were near each other in ECR. Marky Sprout. Roma Dunezay, who, you know, it wasn't the biggest game for the Chicago passing offensive week one, but he did catch a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:37:13 Obviously, year two, Jake, I know Dunez is somebody that you were really interested in. So him here in week two of year two going up against Hollywood Brown. Who do you prefer? I got Roman Dunezai still, similar to the Jameson, Williams conversation. I understand Hollywood Brown if you want the floor, but I feel like that's all it is against the floor. And I don't like the fact that he's going against the Eagles again. And it has nothing to do with the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:37:33 It just has to do with the fact that I'm worried about the Eagles secondary. I'm worried about the fact that it's going to take 10 targets to get that value that we were talking about earlier just to maybe peck into Y receiver 2. The guy had 16 targets and needed a big play at the end of the game to get 99 yards, not even 100 yards. And I'm not saying things won't change this week. Obviously, the game plan shifted as soon as Xavier Wurthie got hurt and maybe they used Brown downfield a little bit more. It's still not the best matchup for me. I know the Detroit secondary is possibly on par with the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:38:04 I would still give it to the Eagles. I bring that up to say that the lions are concerning enough, but against the Packers, I don't think they showed anything where I wouldn't say, you know what, I'm going to go out there and play a Dunezay again. I will admit, here's the one caveat.
Starting point is 00:38:17 If you don't like the floor, the lower floor is clearly with the Dunezay. Yeah. Fitz, are you looking at this through that same prism of like what the floor could be in the ceiling? Or do you have like an easier call just in terms of you really like one player versus the other?
Starting point is 00:38:32 Yeah, I mean, I definitely think the floor is safer with Hollywood. He's going to get a huge number of targets again out of necessity. But I don't know how long he's going to hold up if Patrick Mahomes keeps peppering him with these short throws and making him face tacklers who weigh 100 pounds more than he does. It seems like Hollywood is a good bet for at least six or seven catches this week, maybe more, if he doesn't get knocked out of the game. But like Caleb Williams started off well against the Vikings on Monday night, but things just went off the rails for him in the second half. and now the bears have to go on the road to face the lions
Starting point is 00:39:06 who are going to be in a really foul mood after getting smoked by the Packers in week one. Like, I don't think this game is going to go well at all for the bears. So even though I think the lions are probably going to be without Tyrion Arnold, one of their cornerbacks, like I don't really want to start any of the bears this week. All right, let's go to the rapid fire start sit decisions here. We've got some players at every position included in this one at running back Isaiah Pacheco or Zach Sharbonnet,
Starting point is 00:39:35 who we kind of talked about from the other side of it in that backfield with Kenneth Walker already. Fitz, I'll start with you on this one. Pacheco or Charbonnet this week? Pacheco, we just talked about the Walker-sharbonate dynamic, and I think the balance of power in the backfield probably shifts back towards Walker in the coming weeks. I know Pacheco investors are really freaked out that he got five carries in week one, but the Chiefs trailed by like seven to ten points for most of that game. And Pacheco pretty much dominated the early down snaps. Yeah, Kareem Hunt and Breschard Smith played on passing downs, and it was. mostly hunt and short-yardage situations, which is annoying.
Starting point is 00:40:09 But the bottom line is that Pacheco, I think, looks like his 20-23 self, not the ghost of Isaiah Pacheco. We saw last year when he came back from the broken leg. And presumably without Rishi Rice and Xavier Worthy this week, like the Chiefs at least have to accomplish some sort of balance, run pass on offense to avoid putting too much pressure on a pretty mid-group of pass catchers and to avoid over exposing Mahomes to one of the better pass rushes in the league. So I'm going with Pacheco.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Jake, what do you think? So for all the reasons until that last part, I was agreeing with Fittsus and why I would go both Seahawks running backs over Pacheco. I just, I have legit concerns. Like, if you told me this game was competitive from the jump throughout the entire way, I would agree. I just don't know that the Eagles just don't gobsmack them again. I just think the Eagles match up too well with the Chiefs, nothing to do with the Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:41:05 I just look at every position outside. I mean, honestly, I was going to say outside of court. You could argue a quarterback. Hurt's is a better quarterback, Hall of Famer. Hertz will be a Hall of Famer in time too. But my point being is like position by position, I'm just going to take the Eagles and I'm worried that if they are playing even seven points down from the first quarter, that the snap counts just going to be exactly what we saw
Starting point is 00:41:24 last week. And that's my fear. I am not ready to have a Jalen Hertz Hall of Fame debate. Just giving all the conversation around. It's going to happen. How much credit. Anybody who does. He doesn't have them inside the top 10, even potentially top five,
Starting point is 00:41:38 it's just looking for clickbait. Like, stop. Yeah, top 10, I totally agree. But, like, no, we don't have to get into the hall. I'd still take your boy Lamar over him every single time. Don't get to a percent. I should, I should hope so. That's an offseason conversation.
Starting point is 00:41:53 We can have Hall of Fame case for Jalen Hertz. Let's go to a receiver one here. Cedric, excuse me, Cedric Tillman or Chris Alave. Jake, I'll start with you on this one. Who do you like better for week two? Tillman or Alave. For everybody that wants to come from me for Kenneth Walker, hopefully you also came with me for Cedric Tillman
Starting point is 00:42:09 and enjoying this ride because Cedric Tillman is here and Cedric Tillman is going to rank over Chris Olive for me this week. I do think Chris Alave is a nice value. I think he's very much, though, in the Marquis Brown realm where he's going to need a ton of targets. He's just going to need the volume, which is there. But of the two offenses I trust more and Joe Flacco, of course it could go belly up in Baltimore against your boys.
Starting point is 00:42:29 But at the same time, I will say, this sounds crazy to say I didn't check the weather as of yet because I don't until Saturday. But like if it was rain, I would make the switch. Like if this is a bad game for passing potential, but I do believe that Joe Flacco is going to pass plenty against the Ravens. I do think the Ravens are vulnerable as we just saw in week one. And no, I'm not putting Joe Flacco on the same level of those passing games.
Starting point is 00:42:50 But Cedric Tillman, I brought this up about the Harold Fanon thing. The Harold Fanon concern is not just in Joku. It's Jerry Judy. That's similar to the Tyler Warren Josh Downs situation. Is they're going to involve similar areas of the field, similar usage. And I just think Tillman's the answer. is the one for the Browns. Yeah, Tillman,
Starting point is 00:43:09 Tillman scares me, honestly, like, just as a Ravens fan. Like, it would not shock me, truthfully, if he ends up having, like, a pretty decent game, even if you think about the Ravens is this, like, tougher matchup. I mean, the best game of his,
Starting point is 00:43:21 you know, career so far, when he had that huge, you know, kind of run last season, the best of those games came against the Ravens. He had seven games, 99 yards and two touch. I was in the building for that one, so I remember it very well.
Starting point is 00:43:33 So you got to see it firsthand. I was in it. In Cleveland, and I said this a bunch last year on the show. Like, the eye test from being in that stadium, I was just like, this dude looks like a beast of an NFL receiver. Like, I'm like, he's going to be really good. Obviously, concussion stuff and everything like that. But he torched the Ravens last October. It would not shock me if it happened again this week.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Fitz, how are you ranking this one? Tillman or Alave. Alave. He had 13 targets last week. He's going to be such a big part of the Saints passing game. And yes, it's one of the worst passing games in the league. but OLAV is probably the best thing about it. I like Tillman.
Starting point is 00:44:09 He's a player on the rise, but like I talked about this in the offseason, how Olave's yards per route run for his career is right up there with like Jemar Chase and C.D. Lamb. Like, Olave is just in a different class than Cedric Tillman. I've got a handful of flex questions here. David Montgomery or Emeka Agbuka coming off his great first game in his NFL debut. fits starting with you on this one, Montgomery or Igbuka this week. Yeah, I mean, I've got Egbuka fever too, but I'm going with Monty here. I just think the lions are going to crush the bears and the Detroit running game is going
Starting point is 00:44:44 have a big day. Jake? This is a pure, do you want the floor versus the upside? So Montgomery, vacuum, Montgomery, but if you need the higher ceiling, I still think that lies with Akbuka, even in a tougher matchup. Let me ask you this. Coming off of that first week, I mean, Chris Godwin is like starting practice again. He's not going to be back for a few weeks.
Starting point is 00:45:03 though, but he will be back eventually in some level of, you know, health. Egbuka, for you guys coming off that week one, where is he rest of season amongst receiver rankings? I thought you were going to ask if sell high and I was going to say yes immediately. And it's not the fact that I don't believe in Ibuka. It's just I believe Mike Evans is a great by low. I believe that Chris Godwin is going to be a factor. But kind of more like it's going to be a thorn for everybody is that when we have a good
Starting point is 00:45:28 comparison will be like Tyler Boyd in the years with the Bengals. somebody, even as valuable as Tyler Boyd's best season, was still only Y-Receiver 40. Somebody is going to have to take a back-ish seat. Could it be Godwin? Absolutely. But could it also be Igbuka? Sure. I don't think the issue here is I don't think it's going to be Mike Evans.
Starting point is 00:45:47 I think Mike Evans is locked in no matter what. So that's why I say sell high because everybody's going nuts for him right now and deservedly so. But if you can get Y-Receiver 1 value, I wouldn't put him in the Y-Recever 1 conversation. I would put him in a group with like Devante Adams and your boy. is a flower. So like still back end wide receiver two for me. Fitz,
Starting point is 00:46:08 what do you think rest of season? Wide receiver 27. There you go. I'm not really worried about Godwin displacing him, honestly. Okay. Let's go to another flex here. D.K. Metcalf versus Trayvion Henderson. Two guys that we actually, we talked about both of them last week on the show, but not
Starting point is 00:46:25 going up against each other. So now after seeing them in these, you know, one is a rookie, one in a new offense for this year one week in, who do we like better for? week two. Fitz, I'll start with you on this one, Henderson or Metcalf? Metcalf. His ECR this week is wide receiver 18, which seems a little too high for me, but I could still flex him over Henderson. I'm pro Henderson, but we have to acknowledge the reality that Henderson was outsnapped by Ramondre Stevens in 25 in week one. And Henderson doesn't necessarily need a big snap share to make his fantasy quota in any given week, but a 35% snap share,
Starting point is 00:47:02 I'm not playing a guy with a 35% snapshot over an alpha receiver. I'm curious if you agree with what I'm about to say, Jake, but the reason that I would consider leaning Henderson here, even despite that snapshot, it's just that, like, I think there's a real chance that Miami is just the defense to target this season. And, like, I don't, like, just start any player who's even remotely worth considering starting.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Maybe that's an overreaction to week one, but I just thought it was like the type of game that really sets the tone for the season and I will be very happy to start opposing players against them. What do you think, Henderson or Matt Caff? So I'm chuckling for two reasons. One is I have Henderson barely in front of Matt Calf and then two, I'm wondering if the fits and I are ever going to agree the rest of the way.
Starting point is 00:47:45 We're kind of opposite sides here. I'm a little bit more with you, not just because of the Dolphins' offense and look, like this is going to come for a slight for Patriots fans, but maybe I'm giving Vrabble and McDaniels too much credit here. But they had to see the same thing we saw in week one, right? there was no question who the best running back and one of the best talents for their offense on the field was if I'll put it this way if you are correct fits and it's the fact that the snapshot does stay at 35 40% for Henderson there's something wrong in the heads of rabel and McDaniels there is no reason this should repeat in week two just like there's one coming up with another running back that should not repeat in week two the next starts the decision here is Dylan Samson or Jay Lynn Waddle starting with you on this one, Jake. This, Samson, my boy.
Starting point is 00:48:33 I have way too many browns this year. I can't believe I'm riding with so many browns in my fantasy leagues. It comes down to, like, it wasn't just the eight for eight. And one of the leading receiving options is, oh, by the way, they're going against the Ravens, which you expect to have to pass. Juckins, as of today, we still don't even know. And even if he's out there, how much is going to be involved? And even if he is involved, even if he's the clear lead in Jerome Ford doesn't get a touch.
Starting point is 00:48:55 Who is still Austin Ackler on this offense? Dylan Samson. I am going to ride Dylan Samson until the wheels fall off. Fitz? I'm going Waddle. Yes. I know. Jake and I disagreeing the entire way.
Starting point is 00:49:12 I don't think the Miami offense will be as bad as it was last week. And maybe the team in general, like Matt Peralt of betting pros, our betting pros host, like he pointed out, Miami has been really good at home early in the season. And maybe part of it is that, like, it gets cooking down in Miami in early September. And I think the dolphins somehow have it configured that the visiting team has to be in the bench on the sun side of the fields, like the entire game. So, like, Miami's record is really good. I think they have a better game this week. The last time Waddle faced New England was week 12 last season, easily Waddle's best game of the year.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Eight catches, 144 yards and a touchdown. I don't want to start a Browns running back against the Ravens. Mostly, as of today, mostly cloudy and rainy for Sunday Fist. Is that changed your opinion? Oh, no. I don't think the Ravens had that strong of a run defense this year. They lost Michael Pierce. I thought it was the part of the defense that was most likely to struggle.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Obviously, week one, Josh Allen torched the secondary. He's Josh Allen, so who knows what that's going to look like going forward. but I need to see more from the Ravens defense to be like wanting to avoid them with running backs and particularly past catching running backs. I don't think Kyle Hamilton is very good against screens. I don't know if this defense as a whole is very good against screens. At least it hasn't been in recent years. So like any kind of past catching back like Dylan Samson coming off of a game where he caught eight passes,
Starting point is 00:50:48 it would not surprise me if he actually has a pretty good day in any type of half-pr or PPR format. that. And I also just, I mean, Fitz, you know this. I loved Samson in the draft process. And and I loved the fit, especially with Judkins not being around. So I kind of just want to ride Samson until he gives me a reason not to, honestly. Well, you voluntarily brought up the Ravens Bells game. I guess the healing has begun. Just yesterday, I started listening to some of the recap shows that I'd been putting off for a few days because I needed to emotionally recover from it. You know, it's a long season. All right, you know, a loss in week one doesn't kill them.
Starting point is 00:51:22 So that was a tough few days for me. Let's go to another flex and get off that game as quickly as possible. Michael Pittman or RJ Harvey this week. Fitz, I'll start with you. All right. Let's see if Jake and I can finally find a love connection here. We should not be on the newlywed game together because we would not win. I'm going to go RJ Harvey.
Starting point is 00:51:44 I hate that he only had a 29% snapshot against the Titans last week. But we saw the big play potentially at a 50-yard run where it looked like he was shot out of a freaking cannon. And I don't want to play any quarterback or wide receiver against the Broncos unless it's a star level guy. The Denver past defense is just too nasty. Best in the league. Jake?
Starting point is 00:52:08 We barely agree this time. Finally. Yeah, there we go. Flip it over. And this is who I was alluding to with Trevion Anderson is you clearly need to get the ball to R.J. Harvey Moore. And I know Sean Payton is going to do Sean Payton things. As he does, use multiple running backs.
Starting point is 00:52:22 Hell, rotate his wide receivers on top of it. Mr. Marvin Mims was disappointing. Maybe we should be looking at Troy Franklin, or maybe he goes back again and switches it all up because he's Sean Payton. But the one thing I do know is that he knows enough to get the best out of his running backs, and I think he's going to give more touches to Harvey this week. All right, I want to do a quarterback one and a tight end one to wrap things up. We'll start with quarterback one.
Starting point is 00:52:42 How about Patrick Mahomes versus Drake May? They are both ranked very highly this week as QB-1s. I had it up yesterday. I want to see if it's moved at all. I believe they were QB10 and QB11 when I last look. It was QB 9 and QB 10 now. Mahomes is at QB 9. May is at QB 10.
Starting point is 00:52:58 But I think it's very possible. There are teams out here who have Mahomes as their starter when they drafted and then Drake May is their backup. So with them being back to back here in the rankings, I wanted to throw them in there. Fitz, I'll start with you, Mahomes or May. I've got Mahomes ranked one spot higher. I don't like that his passing, his past catching weaponry is so depleted. but Mahomes is still a great quarterback.
Starting point is 00:53:23 We saw him run pretty aggressively last week against the Chargers. I can't wait to see how Drake May plays against the Dolphins because Miami blitzed at the highest rate in the league in week one, and obviously it didn't work out very well against the Colts. So a big game is definitely in play for Drake May, but if he's not as far along as we hope and doesn't handle the blitz well, like maybe he has a terrible game. So I think Mahomes is probably just a little.
Starting point is 00:53:49 a little safer. What do you think, Jake? Yeah, we disagree again. Yay. It just comes, it's the safer I don't disagree with. It's the rushing upside that it continues to vault May with the higher ceiling at quarterback. And again, I keep going back to this Eagles matchup. And, you know, maybe Mahomes flips it.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Maybe he's pulling like what we've seen from the greats. He's figured out enough and he's seen enough of the Eagles that it's finally like, you can see what I do now this week. But I still feel like the ceiling is with May. They're very close, though. I have them back to back as well. tight end t j hawkinson or kyle pitts jk who do you have here if t j hawkinson couldn't do it with no jordan as then how worried are we going to be when he finally comes back in two more games then i just bring that up to say like
Starting point is 00:54:32 why not go after kyle pitts like it happened a week one and for everybody out there that maybe didn't watch the game i i'll pitts hasn't changed he still can't separate he's still not great in his routes but the one thing they did in week one that i liked is by the way oh you have this athletic matchup problem. He basically played power forward. He was leaning into him and spinning off the coverage. It wasn't like he was a great separator. So he's still Kyle Pitts. It's just
Starting point is 00:54:58 they're kind of figuring this out. Hey, like, hey, maybe we don't ask him to run routes where he doesn't separate. So the potential that we don't have London or Mooney or both, I think that Kyle Pitts is in play. And I go back to like I said about T.J. Hugginson, who by the way, wasn't even barely involved in that amazing fourth quarter by J.J. McCarthy.
Starting point is 00:55:16 Fitz, do you like Hawkinson or Kyle Pitt? Yeah, Jake nailed it. I mean, Pitts, seven catches for 59 yards on eight targets last week. Hawkinson three for 15 on four targets. I'm not basing this solely on last week's results, but Kyle Pitts is probably more essential to his team's passing game right now than Hawk is to his, especially if Darnell Mooney is out again for the Falcons. All right, guys, we'll wrap things up with our touchdown calls contest. I am on running back. Jake is on receiver. Fitz. Good luck with tight end. I'm going with Chase Brown. I kind of think he's just going to score a touchdown like almost every week, just the way I expect this offense to operate whenever they get in close. I think they're going to run with Chase Brown and give him an opportunity at least a few times a game. So not that I, I don't have the same level of conviction that I did like a year ago with like
Starting point is 00:56:26 Derek Henry scoring a touchdown every game. But I kind of think Chase Brown might get something close to that, like the way I expect him to get used this year. So I'm going to go to Chase Brown here for running back. Jake, could you have it wide receiver? Yeah, I could take the layout with Jmore Chase. He'll bounce back. That would be super easy.
Starting point is 00:56:40 But I'm not going to do that. I'm going to go a little bit deeper and actually outside top 20, 25 wide receivers and George Pickens to do it against the giant. I think Dak Prescott's going to come on strong this game as Dak Prascot loves to do against the Giants, but also looking at the secondary, I know they added a debut, but that was because Banks had been so disappointing
Starting point is 00:56:56 that got kicked a second or third, depending on how they want to use it. And that's the big thing. Slam can do his thing anywhere. But if you're looking for the opportunity for those big plays and pickings to take, you know, basically control that secondary covers that he's going to face, I think this could be like the pickings that we hope to see
Starting point is 00:57:11 when he was signing with the cap or trade to the Cowboys and then signed. I think this is 100 in a touchdown potential. So we know that based on last week, Jake and I are going to hit this because running back and receiver are easy fits. Can you be the first one to hit a tight end touchdown call this year? Tall order, and I'm going to go with kind of an unconventional choice here, Brenton Strange. He had four catches for 59 yards for the Jaguars last week. And I think he has another good game Sunday against a Bengals defense that really gives it up to tight ends. All right.
Starting point is 00:57:42 So we got Chase Brown, George Pickens, and Brenton Strange as our picks in the touchdown calls contest.
