Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Every family has its secrets.
Starting point is 00:01:07 But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. Is everyone lying to me about who they are? I felt such desperation. I felt it was what I had to do. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man. on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
Starting point is 00:01:40 And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its place. I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit, season two, is about both of those things. As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a majority black city, in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people. Listen to Rebel Spirit season two on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:02:50 on the IHeartRadio app like searching FSR. Wow. Wow, that was so oddly accurate. I don't know if I should applaud or be mad at that. Covino and Rich. That's us. Fox Sports Radio back at our regular time. Perhaps you heard us filling in for Dan Patrick the past three days. We came, we saw, we kicked some ass. So we filled in for DP, the Dan Patrick Hattrick. Starting point is 00:03:30 Danny G. Iowa, Sam, and the Fox Sports Radio Nation. We're throwing it back on this Thursday, and we be rocking out. Let's go. Hey, one week from today. It's Newty Magazine Day. No, it's the NFL drafts. We got one week. Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:03:45 One week to figure out where these guys are going to go. Is Travis Hunter going to play on both sides of the ball? Where does Shador Sanders go? Is Cam Ward the obvious number one pick? So a lot of speculation for the next week. And you mentioned nudie magazine day, right? Oh, that too, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:01 I'm so excited about that. Belichick, we have a deep thought about him. But, Co., before we get to Belichick, and there's Dame Lillard news as we head into the playoffs, possibly. Plus, every Thursday we reminisce, we throw it back. Old school when 50 hits, we'll get you involved at 87799 on Fox or throwback conversation. I want to tell you why Aaron Rogers is like boys to men.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Oh, hold up, bro. Hold up, because Danny G. said, Hey, man, I don't tell you guys what to talk about, but no Aaron Rogers. Look at all these great topics we have today. There's no need for you to spend a half hour on Aaron Rogers when there's absolutely no news about where he's actually going to be playing or sitting his butt on the beach retiring. Oh, I'm sorry, I missed that text. Now, but I did have a deep thought about Aaron Rogers and how he's very much like your favorite R&B supergroup from the 90s. Boys to Men.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Boy bands ruined them? You're on the right track. Because you know, boy bands ruined a great thing, which was boys to men. Well, don't you ruin my better than Colin Coward analogy? Okay, go ahead. All right. Zip it. Stars!
Starting point is 00:05:12 How is Aaron Rogers like Boys to Men? If you watched a documentary on Netflix back in the day, I believe it's called This Is Pop. And you realize that Boys to Men was dominating the world. Motown, Philly, It's the End. of the road. Like, they were on top of the world. Who was bigger than boys to men? I remember having my first couple skate with a girl in seventh grade at the roller
Starting point is 00:05:37 skating rink trying to get a little smooch while boys to men was playing in the background. Kid to me, you're talking to one of their biggest fans. Cooley High Harmony, man. I loved it. And then when she broke up with you, you put on-bended knee on a mixtape. Correct.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Sipping ain't easy. Get over here. Junior high makeouts. So, we all have fondness for boys to men I'd like to think right big time love in fact the fun fact I got to sing of boys to men on our show I loved boys to men wow
Starting point is 00:06:09 so I was like do do do doom do da da da so how I can think of a few ways in which Aaron Rogers is like them but I don't want to ruin your surprise so Aaron Rogers is like boys to men and I'll explain Boys to Men in that docu-series, this is pop. They talked about how boys to men went from playing arenas and sometimes stadiums. Number one hit records.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Grammy Awards. Grammys. And then all of a sudden came the boy band explosion. In sync, back street, 98 degrees. O-town. Oh, town. Like boy bands. I was like, no town.
Starting point is 00:06:52 They sort of replaced boys to men. on young girls bedroom walls. Well, everybody started associating boys to men as a boy band sort of act and they lost a lot of credibility as that sort of faded. And that was for pop fans, Rich, not R&B fans. Yeah. They sort of lost their R&B vibe and people threw them into that mix. So overnight, it seemed. They talk about this on the documentary.
Starting point is 00:07:20 Overnight, they went from selling out arenas to, yeah, should we play at the mall? They were playing casinos. And it was a quick fall from Grace where one minute you're winning Grammys and everyone knows your song, songs, and then you're trying to decide should I be playing at the, you know, at the Topanga Mall for a couple hundred people.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I think they opened up for the Zach Attack. Yeah. And who is the Sparkles girl on? Robin Sparkles. I think they opened up for Robin Sparkles Sparkles at one point. And how is this like Aaron Rogers? I'll tell you how.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Because you could go from the hottest commodity in the game to, yeah, I really don't care that much anymore. Real quick in sports, music, and entertainment. Grand opening, grand closing. And Aaron Rogers, this morning when he talked to McAfee, even talked about how I'm not looking for 40, 50 million dollars here. In fact, he'll play for a lot less. I had a lot of great conversations with a lot of teams.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I've been straight up with these teams from the start about where I was at, you know, starting with the money thing. I told every single one of the teams I talked to, you know, they ain't about the money. I'll play for 10 M's. You know, I don't care. I never once said I need a multi-year deal, 30, 40 million dollars. I said, play for 10.
Starting point is 00:08:39 So Aaron Rogers at least is accepting the boys to men fall from I'm the elite, I'm the elite 50, 60 million dollar guy. He gets it. It's nice to hear that he has a realistic expert. of what he deserves at this point in his career. That's nice. And when you think about that,
Starting point is 00:09:03 I have so many other thoughts. All right, well, I have two other ways in which he's like voice to men. Okay. But first, let me tell everyone we are doing it live from the Tyraq.com studio. Tyrax.com will help you get there in unmatched selection. Fast free shipping. Free road hazard protection and over 10,000 recommend
Starting point is 00:09:18 and install this. Tyraq.com the way tire buying should be. And come to chaos, Rich. come in here like your Kramer. You're like a mix of Kramer and Doc Emmett Brown. Calm the chaos, Rich Davis. With the shipping software that delivers use code sports and a free trial. You get a free trial at shipstation.com.
Starting point is 00:09:39 That's shipstation.com code sports. And if you tune in to Draft Night Live next Thursday, 8 p.m. Eastern throughout the first round, Insiders Jay Glazer, former Jets, GM, Joe Douglas, our very own, LeVar Arrington, and a bunch of, uh, contributors going to be going pick by pick, predictions, reactions through the first round, and it's all with our good friends at Ship Station. Yeah, Thursday at 8. Ship Station, thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:10:03 So tell me other ways how Aaron Rogers is like voice to vet. And, of course, we want to know your thoughts, too, about Aaron Rogers. There's a few updates on Aaron Rogers. Big story today. 87799 on Fox. Don't you dare extend this segment. He's come to the end of the road, bam. And it's so hard to say goodbye.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I see what you did there. And I think he should. Look, I am the first guy. One of the rules here on the Kavino and Rich show is, you know, they'll tell other people how to spend their money. And they'll tell other people how to live their life and how they should live their legacy. So if Aaron Rogers wants to play and he's willing to play for 10 million a year, is he willing to play backup?
Starting point is 00:10:45 I don't think he's willing to do that. Well, hey, you know, I think maybe he should look into that too. But I'm saying if I'm the first guy to say, it's none of our business. is his legacy to enhance or tarnish. It's his life. I believe Bon Jovi said that too. He did. It's his life. Now or never. But I really feel at this point and at this stage and for where he's at. And what he's been through with the injury and bouncing around now, I think it's time to call it quits unless he's willing to play back up. I think it's time to retire. And he should be proud of that. And I'm never that guy. In fact, I don't think I've really ever leaned into that as much.
Starting point is 00:11:21 I've talked about it because it's been an option. It's been talked about. But I really think it's time, man. And I feel like at this stage, it's like you're overstepping your overstepping. He's overstepping and overstaying at the same time because he's got other teams waiting around to see what he's going to do. It's almost disrespectful at this point. He's saying there's no timeline. He's saying right as of now that there's no timeline and he has no retirement decisions in mind.
Starting point is 00:11:50 The Steelers have. Kyle Rudolph in their quarterback room sort of just, like you said, is what I say? Kyle Rudolph. I love that guy. I've mentioned him like 10 times. Yeah, the Kyle Rudolph Vikings tight end reference. You've done a couple times lately. For some reason, I must have a thing.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Maybe I'll meet him and it would become the best buds. Now, to be fair to Aaron Rogers, he did say that he's not holding the Steelers hostage that he's telling them they can move on if they need to. I mean, that is true, but that's like a girl telling you like, well, if you want, you could see other people and you're like, well, I know what that means. Because then if I do, it's over. Right. I get it. though. On the flip side, you can say, well, that's on the Steelers. I mean, you can sleep with whoever you want.
Starting point is 00:12:26 But, okay. Come on. But as the toadies said back in the 90s, make up your mind. Make up your mind, dude. Aaron Rogers, like Boys to Men, the Fall from Grace was there. They acknowledge. He's not playing stadiums anymore. He's playing malls. And it happens real quick.
Starting point is 00:12:46 I love that he acknowledges it. But interestingly enough, if he's willing to pay, play for $10 million, Isn't it shocking that no one else has bit? Because I thought the hang up was, I don't know who wants to pay him 30, 40, 50 mil for a year or two. If he's selling teams, I'm okay with one year 10 mil if it's the right fit. You don't think teams like the 49ers scratch your noggin a little bit? Yeah, now that that's public information, public knowledge, it also makes the fans put pressure on the teams to be like, Yeah, well, then we should get them if that's the case.
Starting point is 00:13:22 If that sounds good to you. For $10 million, it's not a bad deal. And you know what? When the story's written, like we all sort of lived it, so we all have our opinions. But looking back, looking back, let's say fast forward 30 years from now, we're not going to say he fell off a cliff or that he hit a wall. We're going to say that he suffered a bad injury. And that's why his career wasn't the same.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yeah. Right? Like we often sort of forget, like, how. serious that was. Dude missed the whole season. Yeah. As a result, it's not like he was thinking. No, he got hurt. It might go back to my thought months ago. And again, I'm never the I told you so guy. In fact, people that do that, I want to karate kick, judo chop. But I did say a couple months ago when we were speculating,
Starting point is 00:14:08 ooh, what team would it be Minnesota or the Steelers or the Giants or when we were speculating the few teams? I said, you don't make the most sense to me. And maybe I was right. you know, like a broken clock is right twice a day. I said, what if Aaron Rogers starts the season without a job? And then he's the savior that comes in because we're likely to see at least one or two starting QBs go down midseason on a decent enough team. And then who's the hero that comes in for $5 to $10 million halfway through the season? Aaron Rogers. And again, the update today, Fox Sports Radio Nation, he says there's no deadline with the Steelers.
Starting point is 00:14:42 and they in fact can do whatever they want, as Danny said. There's no deadline with the Steelers or any other team and no retirement decisions as of now. Aaron Rogers, some people sick of hearing about it and hearing about him a la Danny G. But it's kind of hard to avoid. And you have any other ways in which he's like boys to men? Yeah, it's like the water runs dry.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Danny, I have one more analogy that's way less cool than boys to men. I know it's a movie Kavino probably thinks is like super corny and way too corny for a guy like Steve Kavino. Is it a movie you like? Yes. Then, yeah, you're probably right. Has anyone here seen the legendary rom-com my best friend's wedding? Oh my God, come on, dude.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Is that where Julie Roberts stands up and has a sing-along? The moment I wake up. That is sprinkled with extra cheese. Before I put all my makeup. Yeah, listen, there's cheesy scenes. I'm not saying it's one of my favorites. I saw that part and I left. It's a juicy Lucy.
Starting point is 00:15:46 It's oozing cheese. Yeah, yeah. I mean... Never seen it. Movies con queso. Oh, Danny, Jew, you've never seen my best friend's wedding? Never have seen that. Yeah, you ain't missed it anything, dude.
Starting point is 00:15:56 There's a sports background. Remember the dad? Cameron Diaz's dad is what, the owner of the White Sox? I did not recall that fact. There's like multiple scenes that take place that, I believe, the old... I can't say I remember that movie very well. It fell all. It was a pop...
Starting point is 00:16:11 Any Julie Robert. Robert's movie at that time was huge, right? So how does that tie into Rogers? He's like Julia Roberts in this movie, because at the end of it, she's chasing after a guy who's chasing after a girl, and everyone, someone's chasing someone. And then her gay best friend that I think is played by Rupert Everett is like, Jules, no one's chasing you.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Rewind a couple years. How many teams would have been chasing Aaron Rogers? If I told you right now, Mahomes, Joe Burrow, any of these of the top-tier quarterbacks, Josh Allen, if they were like, hey guys, I'm available, 30 teams would be like, I want in. No one is biting on Aaron Rogers. So much like...
Starting point is 00:16:52 And you know what he's going to say? Much like Julia Roberts in a totally different movie? Yeah. Mistake. Big mistake. Big mistake. And I would root for that. I want to make this clear, too. Steve Kavino, just a fan, just like everybody else. I'm not saying he's retired because I don't like the guy. But I'm also not rooting against him.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Like if he comes out and lights it up, believe you, me, I love that story. I really do. I love seeing a great comeback story or a second, third chance story. If he comes back and we were all wrong, man, that would be so dope. I would love to tell you, man, look at Rogers. He still had some in the tank because we all want to feel that we still have something in the tank. I'm not, I'd be rooting for Rogers in that case. I'm a big fan of when you say the phrase, believe you me.
Starting point is 00:17:43 That's a good one. It puts more emphasis on. Man, I feel convinced. I'm like, come in a minute. What you say? Believe you me? It just adds a little more conviction. That's all.
Starting point is 00:17:51 So, hey, I won't harp on Aaron Rogers. Yeah, but it's a big story today. A, to make, I don't want to upset Danny J. And I get it. We have Aaron Rogers exhaustion, but there is one more cliff. You don't need to play the whole beat, the whole clip. But I would say, just the beginning of how he talks about retirement and how he's a 41-year-old man. Life is different now.
Starting point is 00:18:10 You know, I'm in a different phase of my life. I'm 41 years old. I'm in a serious relationship, off the field stuff going on that requires my attention. You know, to make a commitment to the team is a big thing, whether you're a first year player or a 20-year vet. I've been straight up with these teams from the start about where I was at, you know, starting with the money thing. You know, I told every single one of the teams I talk to, they ain't about the money. I'll play for 10Ms. You know, and that makes things a lot more clear.
Starting point is 00:18:37 So, again, Aaron Rogers' fatigue is real. But I think that changes, it changes the conversation. Because you would imagine that a guy like that comes in with an expectation, a built-in starting point of about $40 million. He's willing to take $10 million? What do you got to lose at that point? Rich, so it's actually like pretty woman because his rate has changed. It's not about the money anymore.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Just don't kiss on the mouth. Danny, I am with you now. We're done. We don't want Aaron Rogers fatigue. But how much of a chip is he with the draft one week away? Because now, let's say he's out. Doesn't that change a few teams options? Well, and thoughts?
Starting point is 00:19:18 Specifically the Steelers. Steelers and Minnesota, who I think is still oddly hanging on to maybe. The Vikings, it looks like they've pushed all their chips into the middle of the table for J.J. McCarthy. Let me ask you this. Do you think Steelers fans want them? I want to hit up my personal Steelers friends and fans and people I know. Like, do you think the fans are like, yeah, man, Rod. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:42 You know, like I said, when a player is acquired on your team, it goes back to my first lame Julia Roberts analogy. And by the way, good luck finding another show that somehow ties random movies and sports together. You go look and then you'll come back and be like, Rich, you were right. Like I said, in that movie, my best friend's wedding when no one was chasing Julia Roberts,
Starting point is 00:20:04 it's like, well, you got to remember, does anyone really want you in this scenario? when the Mets got Juan Soto, God, will we be happy? When the Dodgers acquired Otani on that huge deal, my goodness, jerseys were selling off the shelf. When certain players are acquired or re-signed, the fan bases are crazy. Look at the Lakers and Luca, number one selling jersey in the NBA.
Starting point is 00:20:28 That's awesome. You got to remember, are the fans pumped or not? I think that's a part of it. I mean, we all have Steelers friends, right? Seriously, just like take a little Just throw a text message out there And take your own little test Have you had any of your Steelers friends
Starting point is 00:20:46 Say, man, I hope they get them? I haven't. I'm not saying that's the P.L. Endall way to figure this out. But I haven't heard one person excited about getting them Because it feels, I'm not saying it is, but it feels like you're not moving forward. It feels like you're moving backward
Starting point is 00:20:59 if you make that move. During free agency, Danny J. I've seen all of us in the studio react when our player that we liked left our team or got re-signed. When your team acquires or loses a player, he has a reaction like, oh, man, or, oh, yeah, heck yeah. Will Aaron Rogers warrant that reaction from anyone? Well, if Aaron Rogers signs a one-year deal
Starting point is 00:21:21 with the Steelers, Vikings, or some mystery team that may come out of nowhere, does the fan base explode in happiness? Well, here's the other thing, and I hate to bring it up because it's so obvious, but it is part of the conversation. and it's not just him and where is he at in his career because he's going to offer great leadership. He's going to offer something for $10 million. It seems to be worth it.
Starting point is 00:21:40 But you also get that traveling circus that comes along with him. Is that really worth it? Is that part of the reason why it's not that great of an option? And then you got to ask yourself, while the price tag is low, if a team has a quarterback, even if they're wishy-wash other guy, what a kick in the Huevos. Have you like, yeah, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:00 we're going to go with Aaron for a year. But stick around because, next year we may go with you. Like, as a Niners fan, I find that to be appealing because I think the Niners have a lot of great offensive key players still in place. Aaron Rogers is appealing if you don't want to pay Brock Purdy, $50, $60 million a year. But then what? When that one year is done, what do you do?
Starting point is 00:22:20 You go, hey, now you're back. Right. I don't know. So your thoughts, that's the big story today. Again, he says there's no deadline with the Steelers or any other team and no retirement decisions in the future. So your thoughts on Aaron Rogers, apparently he's like Boys to Men and Julia Roberts. That's what you got out of our show, Kavino and Rich.

Starting point is 00:23:58 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was...
Starting point is 00:24:22 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:24:42 or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and Head,
Starting point is 00:25:00 writer Street or Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

And on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen Chinchin win. I mean, she went down. three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted.
Starting point is 00:26:31 She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lerna Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
Starting point is 00:27:17 I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I like this version better than Roy Arbison's pretty woman. Yeah. You mentioned Julia Roberts, Rich. Going to give you a little pretty woman. Van Halen, Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:27:41 87799 on Fox, the most interactive, most inclusive show on radio, the world famous CNR on FSR. Thank you guys for hanging out with us. Everything at Covino and Rich. And two quick reminders. Yeah. Had a lot of fun on our Patreon today. We have a Patreon.
Starting point is 00:27:55 would love for you guys to hear us uncensored and unleashed Patreon.com slash Covino and Rich. We do it Monday through Thursday. Sometimes I'm not sure. I want people to hear that version of me, to be honest. You know what? Me too. Again, that's right before Fox Sports Radio, our favorite place to be. And we also have a bonus podcast. It's a hybrid of our Patreon and Fox Sports Radio in a lot of ways. It's the stuff that we never get to here on this show because Rich always over promises things that we run out of time for. And today, I can tell you this, since we harp so much on Aaron Rogers, even though Danny G was super produced and saying, no, man, don't talk about him. That's what he wants.
Starting point is 00:28:37 You know, even though Danny G. told us not to, we spent so much time, then we're not going to have time talking about the greatest athletes in the world. Like, who are they? Ever. Ever, a la. Travis Hunter, who wants to play both sides of the ball, right? So based on that, we'll talk about him, the greatest athletes ever. We'll talk some baseball cards and friendly wagers today, friendly wagers on overpromise. The brand new episode debuts an hour and a half from now, we go live on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page,
Starting point is 00:29:06 so join the chat. Now, if you're talking about the greatest athletes, I mean, later on today, we'll definitely talk about Shohei Otani. Yeah, absolutely. Showhay Otani. Right now we're live from the tirac.com studio. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:20 C&R. And get you ready for your next layer is PayPal campaign with Will Farrell. Oh, I want to pay with you every day. I love that. I want to pay with you everywhere. Get ready for his rendition of Fleetwood Max. Go your own way in a bathtub.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Check out the teaser that drops this weekend and the commercial on Saturday during the games. All right. All right. Now, the teaser drops today, by the way. Oh, nice. I can't wait. Love Will Farrell. So Bill Belichick is in the news.
Starting point is 00:29:54 And I find it to be amazing how our perception of the sky has been altered a little bit in the last, what, will you say months, maybe years? What changed that? Him doing aerobics on the beach, doing airplane with his girlfriend? That's one of them, yeah. What changed your impression of him? His birthday was yesterday, I believe. You know where it really started, Rich? That Tom Brady roast.
Starting point is 00:30:20 You're like, looking at me smiling out there, having fun. He didn't look as grumpy. Yesterday was his 73rd birthday. So you know what? I hope to be having that much fun at 73. Well, there's two stories that involve his hot young girlfriend, who, by the way, is running for Miss Maine USA. Did you see that?
Starting point is 00:30:40 She's still a pageant girl. Good for her. First part of the story was when she wanted, or he wanted her C-C'd on all of his emails. Yep. People said, huh? I mean, I guess. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:59 Thought that was weird. And then everybody went man at arms and up in arms. At the fact that she's on the practice field, like very prominently there. And, you know, her being attractive doesn't help because she's so noticeable. Yeah, she wasn't dressed down. She was, like, dressed hot. Right. And was she necessarily doing anything wrong?
Starting point is 00:31:19 Well, that's debatable because the story was, well, why is she there? Like, she's so prominently there. It's like she's in the way. Why is she there? It's like my girlfriend sitting here while we're doing a show. What's she doing here? She does clean your headphones right before each show. Once in a while she'll walk in and, you know, give me a massage.
Starting point is 00:31:40 But there is something we said about this. But the update is this, though, Rich. She was simply doing her job, apparently like making sure the microphones were working properly. It's part of her gig as an assistant producer or something like that. coordinator, a producer for a documentary infomercial for NFL films. And also, that's the other side of the story. Also, the 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordan Hudson, wants to make sure her boyfriend, Bill Belichick, his son receives the utmost respect.
Starting point is 00:32:16 They're saying also she's quality control. The reason she's C-Ced on emails and present is that anytime this conversation is about, Oh, his son's there for nepotism reasons. And she apparently is like almost handling the administrative nonsense that Bill's like, I got no time for this. So she's sort of being an assistant in a way. But the vibe is becoming, my gosh, she's too prominently around. Why does he need her around so much?
Starting point is 00:32:45 I don't think this is a Yoko Ono breaking up the Beatles situation. I think it's a Bill Belichick has earned this situation. Well, that's the question. Yeah. Fox Sports Radio Nation, just based on some of the stuff you've been seeing and here and again, C-Ced on the emails. She's on the practice field. Again, doing her job, but she's so prominently noticeable. It's a little distracting.
Starting point is 00:33:04 You're so used to seeing Bill Belichick be his own guy and he's out there just being grumpy. Do you think he's crossing the line a little bit, like optically in a way? Is he crossing the line professionally in any way? Or, as Rich just said, did he earn it? Like, zip it. You're not Bill Belichick. He could do what he wants. I mean, both could be true.
Starting point is 00:33:23 I personally think he's earned it. I think it's a weird look. He's the greatest coach of all time, arguably. Most Super Bowl rings. Who's better than Bill Belichick and Tom Brady when they were together? I think he's earned any little perk, especially, Kavino, get this. This is not like he took over for Jerry Jones, and he was Jerry Jones coach in Dallas, or, you know, Melichick, he's the new head coach or the Jets or the Niners or the, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:48 Falcons or some NFL team. He's at UNC that historically has a bunk football. program. You bring in Bill Belichick, I think you were all at the red carpet. If you're like, hey, Bill, you and your girl want side by side foot rubs during practice? Do it. He went to UNC, man. Here's what happens. It becomes online fodder
Starting point is 00:34:05 and a distraction taking away from the team. That's the thing. Is she doing anything wrong? No. If anything, is the fact that she's attractive, young, and hot, and noticeable, and people just can't stop talking about it because
Starting point is 00:34:21 it's an unconventional relationship. But I don't understand how we think this is going to negatively affect Bill Belichick. I look at it this way. The only argument you could give on the other side is you could tell me if you work from home, you're just as effective. But there's a part of it's like maybe not 100%, right? Like, I can work from home. It could, but maybe even if you're 99% effective, you're still losing 1%.
Starting point is 00:34:46 When you do, this is almost like bring your kid to work day. When you bring your kid to work, let's say your kid's off from school and you're like, Hey, buddy, just sit in the lobby while dad works. You could work fine, but you have to admit you're like 1% distracted. That's what I'm saying. There's a little sense of being distracted here. And it's also proof that she's going to be very involved in the UNC program moving forward. That's the other takeaway.
Starting point is 00:35:15 But I'm not trying to compare his girlfriend to bring your kid to workday. But think about it. If I told you, Kavino, it's spring break this week. my wife had a meeting or had to do something. Yeah, I'm going to bring my son. Don't worry, he's going to sit in the lobby on his iPad the whole time. While I still do a great show with you, you don't think every break I'd go out there like, hey, buddy, you need some Cheetos, you need a juice box.
Starting point is 00:35:35 You're still slightly distracted. And it's not even that either. Look, let's be very clear, too. Props to Bill Belchick. He's got himself a hot young girlfriend. All right. Let's be real about it. Good for you, dude.
Starting point is 00:35:46 I'm glad you having fun. When you whisper it like that, it sounds creepy. And. Hot young girlfriend. And, you know, he's like, he's a hot young girlfriend. Do you like Joe Biden? He's a legend. Hot young girlfriend.
Starting point is 00:35:54 He's a legend. He's done it all. Great for him. But don't tell me. And this goes both ways. This isn't a sexist comment. If a guy is at the girl's workplace or if a guy's hanging out with the girls changes the dynamic.
Starting point is 00:36:09 Meaning, Rich, if all the boys are hanging out and all of a sudden my girlfriend comes and she's all of a sudden hanging, we're not ribbon on each other the same way. Right? And if we really wanted to go at it, there is a sense of, uh, I don't want to do that in front. of her, right? And it goes both ways. If girls are doing girl stuff and all of a sudden I come marching and hey ladies, what's going on? You don't think that's a dynamic shifter. So to have like her there, maybe the coaches and the players, they feel like they can't approach Bill Belichick in the same way because it's in front of his girlfriend. Like what if someone had like a serious
Starting point is 00:36:44 conversation where they really wanted to be heated at Bill Belichick? Now they don't because she's there and it could change things. And it does cause fodder that I don't think is necessarily helpful. But is that warranted? No, but that's just how life is because she's young and attractive and he's Bill Belichick. I'll give you an example.
Starting point is 00:37:02 And then we'll take your feedback. We'll go to Dan Byer for an update. I think Bill Belichick could do whatever he wants and I'll explain why. Well, I mean, he is. Give me the biggest sports talk show in the country. You could argue Dan Patrick, McAfee, Colin, Stephen A. Like the heavy, I'm talking like, I would say that would be when you and I fill in. for DP or fill in for Colin.
Starting point is 00:37:20 Cavinot Rich. Yeah. But, you know, if you're going to be real. According to your statistics. According to me and my family. But if Dan Patrick or McAfee or Stephen A or Colin or one of the biggest guys in the game, if someone
Starting point is 00:37:34 said, let's say they retire. And then, you know, 102 point, whatever, the ticket was like, hey, can you do a local radio show once a week? You're a legend. And maybe you're bored. Do you want to keep doing this? And Colin's like, stars stars fine i'll do like a weekly column segment he could show up there in his slippers getting a massage while he's doing it they just want him there unccc just wants bill bellichick
Starting point is 00:38:01 there that program was non-existent now it's not only on the on the map people are going to watch unc games kind of like he's they're so grateful to have him there that he could do whatever he wants and we're seeing it he could honestly he can request the most ridiculous crap and they'd be like, Mr. Belichick, I mean, it sounds a little crazy, but you got it, sir? Why would they not? Have you ever watched a UNC football game in your life? And the answer is no. You don't even need to think about it. The answer is no. Will you watch one this year? The answer is yes. Well, okay. Mac Brown was coaching there previously. No one cared. No, they did. I mean, he had no, he had them definitely elevated from where they were prior. I didn't care. And that's all
Starting point is 00:38:41 they were winning eight, nine, ten games a year. But now it's like, oh, you got an NFL coach. Like, Mac Brown won a national championship. But I'm just saying, It wasn't completely desolate there before. Macbair banging a 24-year-old? Whoa. No. But you know what? I hope not.
Starting point is 00:38:55 That's why this is very odd because she's the same age as the, actually around the same age as the players he coaches. And we've never seen any other significant other on the field with the coaching staff in this way at all. In fact, we often bring up the fact that Joe Montana used to call his wife on the sideline and thought that was odd. Bill Belichick has his hot young girlfriend. right there with them. You know what? We can take take your feedback next. The phone calls are coming in, but let's go to Dan Byer for an update. DB! Good to see you, man. You two guys, free as your quarterback, Aaron Rogers. As you touched on, touchdown off the top, was on the Pat McAfee show today talking about a variety of topics, basically says he hasn't made up
Starting point is 00:39:34 his mind yet on what he wants to do. Did fill us in a little bit on what happened in those conversations with the Minnesota Vikings. There's been a lot of narratives that have not been anywhere near accurate. Ben was on the show talking about me waiting around for the Vikings. that's not accurate either. I've known Kevin forever. I've known Kevin O'Connell since we used to work out in San Diego County and North County. I've known him for 17, 18 years, and we've got a good friendship. So we talk outside of just, you know, this off season.
Starting point is 00:40:04 We keep in touch during the season. So we've had good communication. Rogers revealing a lot, saying right now some personal things going on in his life. That's why he hasn't made a decision, but did confirm that he has spoken with Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, or as he calls him, Mike T, multiple. times. Bucks guard Damian Lillard could be back sooner rather than later off of his blood thinning meds and could
Starting point is 00:40:23 return to the lineup as the Bucks start a playoff series with the Pacers on Saturday. Lillard, though, will not play in game one in Indianapolis. Sacramento Kings are hiring former Nix GM Scott Perry is their new general manager. Memphis All-American Guard, P.J. Haggertie is entering the transfer portal.
Starting point is 00:40:39 Florida State University is postponing all home sporting events through Sunday, following the on-campus shooting that left one person dead and six others injured earlier today. In golf, Justin Thomas leads the RBC Heritage at 10 under par in first round play. Day baseball. O'Neill Cruz let off the game in Pittsburgh with a home run. It was the only run of the game.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Pirates beat the Nationals 1-0. Dominovacks over the Marlon 6-4. Mariners rally for an 11-7 win in 10 over the Reds. While the A's blinked, the White Sox 8-0, completing that sweep. And the fills lead the Giants, 5-3 and the 6th. Guys, back to you. Thank you, Dan Byron. Thanks again for filling in for us while we filled in for DP this week.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Dan's the best. Again, we got more Kavino and Rich Doe back Thursday. Old School 50 hits. We do it next. And your phone calls, but first I'll tell you about Tyraq. Starting point is 00:42:22 What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:42:33 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:42:57 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
Starting point is 00:43:29 funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Express employment professionals can provide contract workers to flex up for peak seasons without having to raise your core workforce head count. Rich, you count for at least two or three heads. Starting point is 00:46:41 I know we have our Mets Yankees bet, whoever finishes. with a better record at the end of this year. Both tied 11-7 right now. I saw the Yankees are underdogs tonight playing the race. I'm like, who's pitching for the Yankees? Maybe you could tell me who Will Warren is. Are you that thin? Just a young dude.
Starting point is 00:46:57 Are you that thin? The Yankees believe in a lot. They think he's got some good potential for sure. I'm going to keep an eye on Will Warren from this point moving forward because I'm like, Will Warren. I had to look him up. I'm like, I never heard of Will Warren. All right.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Look at the clock. It's 50 when old school hits. Come on. What we're going to do right here is go back. Back into time. Throwing it back for a Thursday. Old school when 50 hits. At 50 after, CNNR give you the time capsule topic,
Starting point is 00:47:29 and we reminisce together. We go old school every Thursday. But before we do, do you mind taking two quick phone calls? I forgot we had people holding. We got time. It's all good. You know what? Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:47:41 Who do we got? To wrap up the Bill Belichick conversation, the Aaron Rogers stuff, I don't want to keep people holding if they're kind enough to call, right? Matt in Alaska wanted to talk about Belichick and his girlfriend. What's up, man? Hey, what's going on, boys? What's up, buddy? My take on the whole thing is, you know, Bill never wanted this job in the first place.
Starting point is 00:47:59 He only took this job so that his son could have it three years after he's there. So having his little side piece around up in everybody's business, trying to make her mark on the program is a way for somebody to, at North Carolina to say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing, and it gives Bill the out that he wants. He doesn't have to coach. His son can slide in, and everybody moves on happily ever after. Well, you know what? You know what?
Starting point is 00:48:23 Holds some weight, and I appreciate the call, but you never saw him do that before because he took the gig real serious, right? So there's something to be said about that. And Patrick and Illinois, some thoughts on Aaron Rogers. You said you wanted to know if Steelers fans were excited? Yeah. Patrick's a Steelers fan. Hey, are you excited about potentially getting.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Aaron Rogers? I do not want Aaron Rogers. Aaron Rogers is a Band-Aid and we don't need a bander slides to us. If he's not there, then we grab one of the other guys, Milro or someone. We don't need a Band-Aid. We need our quarterback of the future. Relax. If we're... Relax. If we're really thinking about it, I imagine that's how most of the fans feel. Well, we shall see. I mean, Aaron Rogers steps in these
Starting point is 00:49:15 All right. There you go. We'd love to see him surprise everybody. Back to old school. Thank you, buddy. I'm sorry. I just didn't want to leave those people holding. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Yeah, man. It's Easter weekend. Got to take care of our peeps. Where are we? Pips first. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. You got to support Paz, the only egg dye coloring in the game.
Starting point is 00:49:32 Paz has nothing to do with my Peps reference. No, but I'm saying. If he's are gross. Who eats peeps? Little kids. I love peeps. And I love our Fox Sports Radio Turbo Peeps. Marshmallow.
Starting point is 00:49:43 Now, now, we reminisce on Thursdays. We throw it back. Danny G. had a meme that got us thinking. And we want to include you and get you thinking too. The viral meme went like this. What's a lost skill that the current generation lacks understanding of?
Starting point is 00:50:00 And there's so many ways you could take this. I get tied into sports too. It is Fox Sports Radio. A lost skill that the current generation lacks understanding of. There's so many examples you could think of. it comes to sports, it's not necessarily a skill, but I don't think the generation will ever have a true understanding of how impactful in great Bo Jackson was because he never won. So it's our job to pass that info on.
Starting point is 00:50:29 They'll never really know because they didn't see it. That's not a skill dope. I know. I'm saying, but it's something. Let me read the question again. Yeah. That the current generation lacks understanding of. It really is. They like understanding.
Starting point is 00:50:44 but as far as total understanding as far as skills go I have a skill that is irrelevant now I had the unique ability to remember people's phone numbers
Starting point is 00:50:55 after giving them to me like once or twice you could ask me now like my childhood friend's phone numbers and I remembered it what a waste of a skill means nothing
Starting point is 00:51:04 in fact I bet you most of you don't even know your wife's phone number I mean along those same lines baseball card stats now we're seeing maybe a little bit of a comeback of that because baseball cards have done such a great job of making it exciting again
Starting point is 00:51:18 with their rookie debuts and all these special cards. But you would know the back of the baseball card. You'd know who batted what and when and how many home runs. You knew that Wade Boggs batted 368. You knew all that stuff because of baseball cards. The lost skills that you had that mean nothing in 2025 will take your feedback next. Going old school, Kavino and Rich. Hey, guys, it's us and the Jonas brothers.
Starting point is 00:51:46 I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:51:56 We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite on humor. with Robert Smygel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
Starting point is 00:52:22 help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and headwriter, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Starting point is 00:52:55 I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
