We are live in Los Angeles. It is the herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1, one hour from now, where Colin was wrong, where Colin was right, lots of both. A lot of underdogs won yesterday, just not the ones I bet on. J. Mack is joining us. This game, so much fun.

You know, these are long seasons. They always say there's two seasons, pre- Thanksgiving, and then near Thanksgiving and beyond. We're starting to see some regression. Some stories like Minnesota, Miami may very well be for real, right? What do you make of Miami? We'll see. We're waiting for them to get to the meat of their schedule.

Minnesota, they're for real. Okay, so let's start with. the Cowboys and the Packers. Dallas is the $50,000 a year millionaire. Got a fancy car, but if you followed him home, he lives in a tiny apartment. A lot of flash, a lot of splash, some ego, look closer. This was your classic Dallas Cowboys game. National TV.

Facing another big brand. Cowboys probably had the second best quarterback on the field. And here it was. There's for the taking. In Lambo, McCarthy coming home, had the lead and folded. This is why they haven't had back-to-back double-digit winning season since 96. It was all there for them. And they lost it the way Dallas tends to lose games like this.

Costly penalties and failure at quarterback in a high leverage moment. You can bang on McCarthy, but I would have gone for it too. They couldn't stop Green Bay. We know who the Packers are. This isn't about the Packers. The previous five games for Green Bay, they had no offensive balance. And they won't in the next two against physical Tennessee and super physical Philadelphia. This is about Dallas allowing a wobbly Green Bay offense who didn't have their best receiver to get over 200 yards rushing.

and over 200 yards passing. 35 minutes of time of possession, almost 50% on third downs. It was like watching, I don't know, the Packers the last two years, but we know they're not great. You've seen them lose game after game after game. What's interesting about Dallas is you knew what Green Bay was going to do.

They were going to try to run the ball, right? Because that is how you slow down a really good pass rush and a really good pass rusher. You don't get in third and longs and second in longs. You run the football to stem the pass rush. So you sort of knew going in what Green Bay would do.

Man, they still did it whenever they wanted to. It's just with Dallas. I just don't trust them in big spots. This year for Dak's a great example. Third downs and fourth downs for Dak. He's completing 43% of his throws.

They're the numbers right now. That is the worst since Tim Tebow was in the league. Again, the Cowboys in these games revert to a $50,000 a year millionaire. Talk a big game, look flashy, but look under the hood. Big TV, big matchup, means a lot. Listen, Philadelphia and the Giants are winning. So I don't mind Mike McCarthy going for it. But you start looking around on this Dallas team and Mike is great and Trayvon Diggs and C.D. Lamb, they're individual players I like. There are moments I like. They're halves I like. But you know it and I know it. You face great quarterbacks like Aaron Rogers. You get into these big national TV games with a lot of pressure and the margins get tight.

Ask Buffalo. You got to make the little plays, not just hit on the home run plays. But with Dallas, it's always head coach, quarterback and culture. I just don't trust them in big spots. A lot of games. They look very impressive. But that's not how you win Super Bowls. It's the big games, the stand-alone games, the TV games, off and on the road, facing a great quarterback who is going to make you look unprepared if you don't have it buttoned up. I mean, come on, Dallas, Romeo Dobbs was out, right? You knew they were going to go to Lazard and Christian Watson, right?

I mean, not the old guys. And Watson had his best game as a pro. You knew they were going to run, right? That's the only way to slow down Dallas's pass rush. Throw on third and two. Throw on second and four. Here's Mike McCarthy after. I'm very frustrated with the ending in the game, obviously.

You know, I think just the biggest thing for us is we need to go out here and just learn from these games. I love these kind of games. That's exactly what I told this game. You need these tight games to get to where you want to go. Yeah, you just got to win. more of them. And I know, Packer fan. Colin, give us credit. I'm not Visa. I'm not in the credit

business. I'm in the honesty business. I've watched you the previous month. You're not very good. And you were trailing in this game at home. By a lot. This was about Dallas. Green Bay wins big games. I've seen them win big games with Aaron Rogers. Not all of them,

but they win some. But this is too often the case with Dallas. Costly penalties. Quarterback can't step up. I will defend Mike McCarthy's fourth down call. But once again, big spot, an L as the Giants and Eagles keep on winning. And so let's talk Buffalo Bills. What I'm about to say you know is true, right, coaching matters. Now, it may be a quarterback league and the guy over my shoulder is pretty good, Josh Allen, but coaching matters. We see it time and time again. You can see it in Denver,

Tennessee game. One great coach, one bad coach. I mean, Tennessee's missing five defensive starters. They're going to a backup quarterback who fumbles. They're taking Kansas City to overtime without a first down in the second half. Tennessee's really well coached. Denver's not. And I'm not insinuating Buffalo as bad coaches, but Brian Dayball's probably going to win coach of the year. Last year, he's a coordinator for Josh Allen. He's now gone to New York. And they're probably going to make the playoffs. And the Giants have been unwatchable for most of the last decade. And Daniel Jones isn't great. And yet here the Giants winning because Brian Daibble is really good in coaching matters, especially an offensive coach and an offensive pivoting league. But nine games in Buffalo

without Brian Daibble. And Josh Allen now is regressing and reverting back to the Josh Allen in college and the Josh Allen the first year. Wild. Too often Superman. throwing the ball away, even great knockout artists need movement and a jab. Patrick Mahomes every single year, and he's great and incredibly talented and coachable. He'll go off into the weeds mechanically. Andy Reid's got to bring him in and sandpaper him and refine him and get him back on the fairway. That's okay. It happens. And I feel like Josh Allen right now, this is not a shot on Ken Dorsey,

but maybe Brian Dable's just so good is just so excellent that when he leaves, even with Josh Allen's talent, you know it. But he's regressing again. He's making mistakes, bad throws. And this is where coaching matters. I want to show you a stat in the first and second half. So in the first half, on script, Josh Allen has been very good this year. But in the second half, left to his own devices and his talent, he's not very good.

his passer rating's low 80s. Four years in, Buffalo's defensive coach has not developed a run game. I like Sean McDermott. Don't love him, like him. But four years, no consistent run game. The bills are increasingly in all or nothing offense. Home runs or strikeouts. That works analytically in baseball.

It does not in football. You need nuance and movement and a jab and a run game. I said it and I saw it against Green Bay. Remember a couple weeks ago? they beat Green Bay and I said, uh-oh, they got problems here. They got problems. Like Green Bay was lifeless. And for the record yesterday, Minnesota was done.

It was over. It was in Buffalo. Kirk Cousins looked cold. And then Josh Allen and pressing. And the coaching staff may be going for it where they shouldn't. And pressing. And he has to be Superman and do it all. I think this is on coaching.

Josh Allen's still a baby, still a kid. and his kind of natural DNA is he's a little wild. He's going to let it go. In the history of the NFL, some of the strongest armed quarterbacks like Brett Fav, they're going to let it go. They trust their arm. They trust themselves. It's worked their entire career.

Even Mahomes needs coaching. But Josh Allen's not getting a consistent run game four years in. He needs refinement in the red zone. Red zone. Who else is bad in the red zone? Denver. not well coached. Josh needs help and refinement in the red zone. Sometimes I think he needs better protection, although this offensive line feels, you know, better than most Buffalo offensive

lines. But right now this team is 30th in the NFL. Take Josh Allen's rushing out. 30th in the NFL and rushing. Even the great knockout punchers got to move and got a jab. This is on coaching. McDermott is tight. He's a defensive-minded guy. He's not a real joyful presence. And that's okay. you can win that way. But I think the team gets tight in close games. They lost a lot of close games last year. They've had four this year. They're two and two.

But there was no reason Green Bay was close to this team, and they got close. And there's no reason Minnesota won this game. And they did. Both those teams were lifeless. It was over. And again, if you've got to lean on a run game, if you've got to sat him down like Brian Dable would do and say, listen, just take out four or five big throws here.

Let's tighten it in. Let's put some, you know, bumpers on a little bit. Let's slow it down, not the big dangerous stuff. I'm not blaming this on Josh Allen. The kid's pressing. He feels like he has to do everything. And that's because a lot of the times he does. Here's Josh after.

Losing sucks. Sucks this way even worse. Horrendous second half. Comes down to my shoulders and my shoulders only making the right decisions, making the right throws, putting our best foot forward in practice. Since this one's, going to suck watching.

Only ways forward. We've got to find a way to put this behind us and that'll let it affect our next one. Don't get me wrong. He's letting go with the football. At some point, you have to be responsible and culpable for your mistakes. That's absolutely fair. But I've watched this whole Josh Allen thing. Wild and out of control.

Refined. Very good. Now wild and out of control. And it seems to me Brian Daibel has a huge impact. Listen, for young quarterbacks, those coordinators, you've got to get them the right guy. It's some of these guys, I mean, you start watching, look at Mack Jones this year without Josh McDaniels. He's not the same quarterback. Josh is not the same quarterback, or Mac Jones isn't.

So I feel they've got to button it up a little bit. Even the most talented players can't just give him a ball and say, put on the cape and go. Buffalo's got talent. They'll probably turn it around, but we saw it coming several weeks ago. Don't forget 50 minutes from now. Colin Wright, Colin wrong. So there's a lot of reasons Dallas lost, and I thought it was a bad loss for them. But I'm going to, I'm going to defy a hard way. And Mike McCarthy. So a lot of people are like, in overtime, why are you going for it? So you keep telling me how great DAC is. You would have gone for that with Joe Burrow. I would have gone with that with Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. Okay.

You can quibble about the play call. And Dak's been dreadful on third and fourth down this year. Okay. You may not like the play call, but most of the night, he had pretty good protection. But if you're going to tell me how great DAC is, you'd have gone for it. I would have gone for it with Lamar and Herbert and Burrow and Allen. I would have gone for it with Kirk Cousins and Jimmy Garoppolo. So if you're wondering why he went for it, here's my takeaway.

I'll show you some illustrations. It's called Aaron Rogers having a passer rating of 146, Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon averaging five and a half yards of carry, and Christian Watson beating you over the top three times. Mike McCarthy's on the side. He can't stop those guys. And think about this. With the Giants and the Eagles winning, Philly should win again tonight.

Okay. So they're winning and that does matter. Right? Like Green Bay yesterday saw that Minnesota had one in Buffalo. It's like, guys, this is our season. This is our season. And it was for Green Bay and they delivered. So they still got a wild card chance.

They're not going to win the division. But with Philadelphia and the Giants winning, can you imagine if Dallas misses the playoffs and you go back to this game, right? And with an offensive head coach, a Super Bowl winning offensive coach, Mike McCarthy, a quarterback you pay $160 million to, a very good tight end, a number one receiver in CD Lamb, an excellent back and pretty good protection. You don't make the playoffs because you punted to Aaron Rogers in Lambo, who was rolling in the second half.

Yeah, you got to control your own destiny. The Giants and the Eagles here winning, right? You knew the Giants were winning. The Giants had won. Now it's your turn. So I get it. I'm going to defend Mike McCarthy on this. You don't have to love the play call.

But most of the night, Dak had time to throw, and he's got good weapons in every unit. Receiver, tight end, running back. Yes. On the road, you go for it. Here's Mike after. You know, we were right on the line for the field goal. And, you know, to be honest with you, I felt we needed to go for it.

You know, I mean, I called it on second nine, especially the way the game was going. I mean, it was, you know, big play. Penalty, big play, penalty, big play penalty. So, you know, our thing was just to keep playing. We had good calls, you know. So I'm filed with a decision. Obviously, I know we didn't convert. But, you know, fourth and three, you know, just didn't convert.

Yeah, I mean, this isn't Denver's offense. This isn't Tennessee's offense. This isn't the Houston Texans offense. This is why you pay back. What's he got about $160 million on that deal? That's why you pay him for fourth and three on the road in Lambo. When you don't want to give the ball back to the other great quarterback. That's exactly why you pay him.

I'll defend Mike on that one. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. To be clear, and I don't want to be referee guy, Jair Alexander was mugging the wide receiver on third down from behind. Should have been a flag for PI.

He was all over the guy. It was an iffy holding call on that drive. You know, you're on the road. You have to bake in an occasional iffy call. By the way, did you see three comebacks of double digits in the NFL in the fourth quarter? Well, I think... What the heck's going on in this week? Well, remember in the...

I think in September, we saw several of those. And I think what's happening is, I think the skill players... I saw catches in college and pro this weekend that were insane. In college games, kids are now one-handed it all the time. I thought that Stefan Diggs catch was the greatest catch I've ever seen. That was OBJ with a man on you and having to curl it around the guy. Or Justin Jefferson, my best. And Jefferson had a one-handed catch.

It was awesome. I think teams now and players now practice them. I remember the first time I saw it like Chris Carter years ago, you know, how many years ago did a one-handed catch. And I remember he told me the story. The referee looked at him and said incomplete. And he's like, no, I had possession. I can possess with one hand. I just think kids are better.

They practice it. I see it at the college level every Saturday. Multiple players make one-headed catches. Justin Jefferson is unstoppable. I love that guy. That was the best catch I've ever seen. The Justin Jefferson, that's the best catch I've ever seen. Fourth and 18, I mean, it was...

Hey, and you can bang on Kirk Cousins. But you've got to give Kirk Cousins credit. Who was he looking at on every pass play? They know where it was going. I'm going to my guy. You've got to give Kirk Cousins credit. Because a lot of this stuff is, how often do we say this? J-Mac, in a big spot we're like, just go to your best guy.

Like the chiefs often go to Travis Kelsey. Miami goes to Tua. Cousins just keep going back and back to Justin Jones. Now the Bill's fans can hang their hat on. We didn't have Tredavius White in the lineup. One of the best cornerbacks. Well, I want to get him back on the field. It's been a while.

And by the way, you've got to call him by his name, Kirk Thuggins. That's what they're calling from the internet now because of the gold chains. Okay, yes. It's catching on. All right, let's get started here. The Bucks, big win in the NFL's first game in Germany. Look at Tom Brady across the middle. Julio Jones. A Julio Jones sighted, Colin.

Unbelievable win for the bucks. Kind of, Gino Smith, you know, we predicted here. I think he would eventually start to be who we thought he was, you know, eight-year sample. And he didn't handle the pressure well. They got him three times. Did you watch that game in the first half? Seattle looked like the time zone matter.

They had a longer flight, West Coast team. And I'm not making excuses, but Seattle played a pretty good fourth quarter. But that was the first time this year, the way Tampa ran in the first half, you're like, oh, if that's the new offense, okay, then they do have a puncher's chance to get into the NFC championship. I thought Tampa's first half, I'm like, oh, wow. But you're talking about Seattle on the other side of the country. That's an early, so part of me wonders, was Seattle just not time zone prepared for it? Well, Tampa Bay did get Akeem Hicks back on the defensive line,

and they held Kenneth Walker to 17 yards rushing. That's a big factor they were missing him. Here's what Tom Brady said about the environment in Germany. It was lit. Yeah, that was one of the great football experiences I've ever had. So it says a lot for 23 years in the league and for a regular season game. And I think the fan turnout was incredible. It felt like very electric from the time we took the field.

So at the end of the game with them singing Sweet Carolina and Country Road, that was pretty. pretty epic. So I think everyone who's a part of that experience. It really was. Got to have something pretty amazing memory for their life. So thank you for hosting us. We appreciate it. Thank you. You and I said that going into the game, going into the week. We said this could be a great moment. I thought it was fantastic. I'm not a Sweet Caroline guy. That's like a Boston song. I don't like any Boston teams as a New York guy. You like Sweet Caroline? Well, I went to Fenway. I've been to Fenway twice. And I think it's, you know what? I do love Sweet Caroline. I'll Penn State play as a

it. Didn't Penn State play in big spots? I was unaware of that. Now, country roads take me home. That's a good song. John Denver. Classic. But I will say this. Sweet Caroline, I lived on the East Coast for 10 years, and it reminds me of the beach in the summer in the Northeast. Kind of a baseball game summer. I don't know why it does. It just, there's that, there's just certain songs. Carly Simon in the summer feels so northeast and traditional. Sweet Caroline, Red Sox.

No, Taylor Swift in there? No. Carly Simon. Wow. That's a bull. Am I not showing my age here? Just a tad. That's not a big deal. I just that sweet Caroline and the Carly Simon stuff and it's, I don't know.

Can I give a quick shout out to Devin White, who was a punching bag for Warren Sapp, and I think Brady took some veil comments about effort. Devin White, two sacks. He was all over Gino Smith. Great game. Nice bounce back for Devin White. Next up. To a tongue of Aloha.

Big game for him. Listen. Come on now. I was very wrong. Despite an awesome headline Friday, I was way, way off on this game. Brown took a 7-0-0 lead. I'm thumping my chest, and then the dolphins peel off 24 straight points. He won four in a row.

How about the passer rating for Tua? He's like lapping the field. Okay, so we could drill down on this a little bit. So the most interesting thing for me, he was not sacked. Miles Garrett and Jadavian Clowney, who should have dominated the tackles, didn't do anything. No pressures, no quarterback tax, nothing. Colin, his offensive line showed up.

Tua's releasing the ball quickly. look at the stats since he's come back from the concussion. Mike McDaniel, I don't want to give him McVeigh-Genia stuff, but he looks incredible. They are running such an efficient, smart offense. When you watch Miami play, somebody is always wide open. Big time. On virtually every play, and I like their personnel. Tyreek Hills a Game Changer, Jalen Waddle, Mike Gasecki.

It's not like I don't like their players. But sometimes you watch it and you're like, they're fooling people. I mean, they are fooling. fooling people. It looks like there's some play action that they're mixing in. But the guys, remember last year the big story was nobody could get open. Nobody could create separation. Hill and Waddle are wide open.

And I'll say this, they're in first place right now. The schedule is about to get tougher. We're about to find out about tour. Remember, after the buy, they play Houston. That's a win. They got to go at 49ers, at chargers, at bills. That three game stretch will tell me what I need to know about Miami. Do you think they're going to regress badly?

Don't you buy some of this? You think they're winning in Buffalo? I had them as a wildcard team. I think they're a wildcard team absolutely capable of winning a playoff game. I don't know if they can win a second. You're talking about a Cincinnati, at a Baltimore, at a Buffalo.

It's a different environment totally. But they're absolutely a playoff team and absolutely capable of winning a playoff game. I don't know. I think it's not like they're doing it with smoke and mirrors. People are wide open. This is not the Tribisky Bayer. where we had a quarterback that we didn't love, and it was a lot of schemes, and it was like,

you always kind of felt like there was a ceiling. Tyree Kill kind of eliminates the ceiling thing, because they're going to throw deep balls with him. Oh, my gosh. This Indianapolis Colts team, Colin, they beat the Raiders. You're looking at the laughter. 25, 20. This was, for my money, the biggest stuff. or bigger than the Vikings bills. I mean, they led this game from soup to nuts, 10-0 right out of the gate.

Yep. And they never, I don't, maybe they trail by one at some point, but Jeff Saturday told Peter King after the win, he's not paying attention to the outside noise. I don't pretend to be the smartest coach. I don't pretend to be something I'm not. I know football. I'm passionate about football.

I study the game, but I will trust the men and empower those men to do the things they know that they're called to do. Whoever has whatever negative opinion, I can assure you, it's not going to change who I, am or what I believe I'm called to do. I have no idea how successful I'll be, but we're going to work hard at it. And I believe I can lead men and lead the staff. Well, I'll give him,

I'll give him credit for this. The first thing he noticed, I can't have this 30-year-old play caller who was getting donuts for us two weeks ago. I can't have him calling place for Sam Ellinger. They bring back Matt Ryan and the offense look capable, Colin. Jonathan Taylor, 125 yards rushing. Yeah. This is going to sound shocking. They're four, five, and one. They're not out of the mix for a wild card spot or winning the division, which is insane. But can we not talk about the Raiders? No, I'm going to talk about the, I have a strong Raiders take at the top of next hour. Because I'm going to try to explain the Raiders.

Well, we've got to keep an eye on social media because, I mean, there's a chance something happens in Vegas. I don't know about a head coach or offense coordinator. Somebody's got to get off for that loss, Colin. I mean, the Colts were the most inept team. They were 0-9 against the spread in the first half. Now, be careful because Dan Campbell once took over Miami. and for a couple of weeks, when you get an ex-player

that's got a physical presence, teams tend to play. Tough. You know, Jeff's Saturday. I know Jeff. I love Jeff. I know Jeff pretty well. I think he's tremendous. Jeff is going to get guys to play above themselves.

He is so relatable and so authentic and so real. And he is smart. He's saying he's not the smartest guy. Jeff's really smart. And Jeff would challenge Peyton Manning. Jeff's all-man, all-smart. So he's down playing that. But I do think there has been a history in this league

where you bring a new coach in, he's an ex-player, he's got a presence, and he's a guy's, guy, he's an alpha, and Jeff is, and it's really get guys playing over there. I still think fundamentally, there's some limitations with this offense. It's an older immobile quarterback outside of Pitt when they don't love the receiving core. There's some limitations here. This is how limited the Raiders defense is. Matt Ryan had a 39-yard run on 3rd and 3.

Longest run of his career by 20 yards. I'm sitting here with a Raiders ticket like a clown, a screaming. It's Matt Ryan. My 11-year-old could catch Matt Ryan. Colin. All right. Oh, my gosh. I am very fired up about these Raiders. Devante Adams saying some comments.

I have an explanation you're going to like later, and it uses the Jets. By the way, professional gamblers knew something. They took Colts all week. That line kept coming down. They were all over the Colts. That stings for the Raiders. All right. J-Mac with the news.

Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Line News. Okay, so the Niners beat the Chargers. Chargers were missing for their top five receivers. They haven't had their left tackle for, you know, months. So the fact that the Chargers kept it close, I thought was, you know, feel pretty good if you're a Charger fan.

So San Francisco was the better team, made some changes at half. They were off a buy. So I thought San Francisco was really rusty in the first quarter. You know, you always think all these teams want to buy last year. Titans number one team at home off a buy in the playoffs lost. Packers, number one team off a buy lost. In football, if you're playing well, you want to keep playing. So San Francisco, I thought, was really, really off in the first quarter.

But here's the thing. I love the Niners. You know I love the Niners. You know I love Garapolo. You know I love Lynch. You know I love Shanahan. This comes from a place of an endearment. And I really like San Francisco.

I think they're the most talented team in the league. I will say this, though. You know how I say the bills are too Josh Allen reliant? Sometimes I feel like the Niners are too Kyle Shanahan reliant. Is that not every successful drive has to be brilliantly schemed. and executed by this maven, this guru, fooling the defense, clever schematically. Sometimes you just need a big play. And Garapolo is good and in my opinion has earned the right to occasionally let it rip.

San Francisco's defense, San Francisco's coaching San Francisco's personnel is good enough to overcome a deep throw down the sideline that's picked off. It feels like sometimes they are so reliant on Shanahan's brain and that script that they trust Garoppolo with about four throws. And he's really good at those four. And they lean on those four. And those four work a lot. That game shouldn't be 2216. Look at the box score.

Chargers had 12 first downs. They're missing four of their top receivers. Niners on a buy at home. We don't even know if we like the coach with the Chargers. San Francisco, and this is a compliment that Shanahan is so brilliant. Sometimes, if you go look at their first half and second half scoring, they're 24th in second half scoring with Kyle Shanahan, Trent Williams, these receivers, Debo, 24th, why?

They need to let it breathe a little. Like, I wish Buffalo and San Francisco's offenses would get married and have a baby. And San Francisco would lighten up and Buffalo would tighten up. I don't love teams. I mean, I like them a lot. But sometimes they feel incredibly dependent on the brain of Kyle Shanahan. And they should not be the 24th ranked offense in the second half. That feels like they're brilliantly scripted and brilliantly schemed.

And this is what they do and they do it well and they lean into it. And then after half, they get a little tight. And it's like, I think Garoppolo's earned the right to let it rip sometimes downfield. And in fact, Jimmy Garapolo has the fourth fewest. completions of 20 plus air yards in the NFL. You want to know the other three, two jet quarterbacks and Daniel Jones. And those teams are clearly managing those quarterbacks to some degree. So I can really like the Niners, but I do think sometimes, just like the bills are very

reliant on a star quarterback, they're very reliant on the brainpower, which is significant. And I think Jimmy Garoppolo is earned the right to sometimes bring out the driver and swing away. up you shank it you pull it okay but there's a lot of talent here that game you go look at the box score that thing shouldn't have been close you know it's like why the warriors are great step curry can be reckless and have turnovers and take bad shots you know as the point guard but steve cur doesn't suffocate him he let it's part of it it's like part of what makes him great and i'm not saying geropalos step curry but what i'm saying is part of what makes the warriors the Warriors is like they allow for some mistakes.

It's okay. Steph has these turnover moments and Steph takes bad shots and Steph's sometimes a little wild. And it's okay. It's part of the process. If you trust the coach, the roster, your defense, just like the Niners. Warriors defense, Niners defense. Warriors coaching, Niners coaching. I know it's football, basketball, apples, oranges.

But I just feel like the Niners in the second half get tight. Breathe. You got good players, got good coaches, got good receivers, backs, tight ends, you got good pass rushers. Joining us now, Lipscomb Academy head football coach in Nashville, Tennessee, won another playoff game this weekend. So I was saying, like, when you're a young quarterback, Mac Jones, you take Josh McDaniels from him, and you can tell it's a relationship he really leaned on.

Brian Daibol, you take it away from Josh Allen. Because I've seen Mahomes in the last several years. He'll have these months where he kind of goes mechanically off into the weeds and Andy brings him back here and says, okay, let's get rid of that. I feel like Josh is sort of being left Trent up to his own. And after the scripted plays, in the second half, it's kind of like Superman. And it looks like to me, he's reverted back to kind of that wild let it rip kid. And you just can't do it.

That's what it looks like to me. What do you see? Yeah, I don't disagree. And I like to use the Mahomes analogy. It reminds me a lot of when Patrick would go haywire, for a couple weeks and throw some picks. Like, they both play such a unique style of quarterback. They have massive horsepower.

They're very intuitive. They can make play after play after play. They do have the Superman complex in a good way. They're always looking to kind of torture the defense and set it naked apart. But there needs to be some more structure around that. I think what you see Andy do with Mahomes is kind of like you said, Poles the man just says, hey, we still want you to play free and care free and make plays, but there's situations in games where you have to be a little more conservative,

and it doesn't seem like that's happening with Josh. He's made some knucklehead mistakes, for lack of a better term, latent games, where he's trying to do too much. He's playing the entire game with the Superman Cape Bonn instead of maybe three, you know, instead of half or three quarters of the game with the cape on. So I think Josh is very self-aware. He's very introspective. He's going to look at this.

You can see how deflated he's been after some of these mistakes after games. He's got good people in his life that will speak into and say, hey, doesn't mean it doesn't have to change how you play. You just may need to change how you play in certain situations of the ball game. You know, J-Mack and I were saying this about the Dolphins' offense. There's always somebody wide open. And that's like college and high school ball where guy blows assignments. And against good teams, Baltimore got burned several times.

And you're like, well, the Ravens are well-coached. Mike McDaniels obviously a hit. when you watch them, I mean, they use, I'll say this, they use a lot of motion. They are moving people around. Green Bay doesn't do a lot of that. Is it the motion component? What is it with that offense? I believe at least a couple weeks ago, they used motion more than anybody in the National

Football League. They use action RPO combinations really well. So everybody says they're run-pass options, but they're not always run-pass options. A lot of them are really good sound play action techniques with really good action fakes in the backfield. They're running the ball well, and they get a lot of zone coverage because people are so scared of playing them man to man with both those guys with such beep-beef speed. So this offense is not just clicking now. I think it's only going to get better, to be honest with you. I think it's, you know, top tier in the NFL right now.

I think by the end of the year, we may argue that it's the best offense in the national football league. There's really no way to stop it if Coach McDaniel is willing to continue to hand the ball off. I think the danger here is to fall in love with the passing game so much. much that you forget to put it in the belly of the back and let him eat. That will balance out and neutralize any creative defensive schemes that people may be trying to dial up against it. But this offense is really unique. Coach McDaniel has been a boy genius, like I said, last week in the run game forever,

and now he's kind of added that to the passing game. So watch out. The dolphins are here to stay. So Green Bay had struggled to find balance in their offense. This week, they nailed it. So when you watch them run like they did against Dallas, your offense just scored 70 points this weekend in Tennessee in the first half in a playoff game. So obviously coaches deserve credit too.

But when I watch them against Dallas, I'm like, okay, I'd watch the previous month. And I don't think they'll run against Tennessee and Philly like this. Was it schemes? Was it the interior of the Cowboys Delight? Explain why Green Bay was so effective running the ball. I don't get it. What was the commitment to it? They were stubborn.

And to run the ball really well in the National Football League, you have to be stubborn with the run game because you're not always going to get positive yards. And you can't let that frustrate you away from calling more runs. There's a commitment within the organization to know who they are right now as an offense and to build your plan around that. I think it was very specific to the Cowboys, too. What they did in the Cowboys is they want to neutralize that great pass rush.

The Cowboys come up the field. A lot of the scheme in that run game was to encourage, the Cowboys that come up the field. And then I'd have the most brilliant party yesterday for the Packers, because, again, there's no way the Cowboys should have lost that game. But to give the Packers credit, what they did was they forced the Cowboys to take the bait. They were so stubborn in the run, they forced a one high man shell. That's not where the Cowboys are at their best.

The Cowboys are their best playing zone and letting their front four rush the passer, some creative zone dogs bring in five. But they forced them into a one high man shell by so many, man, so many, so much volume in the run game. And all their big passes came on man beaters. They had no zone beaters the whole game. The whole game was man beaters, all the chunks, because they kind of, they cast the line out there and said, okay, Cowboys, take the bait, take the bait, take the bait.

And once they took the bait, they were to push the ball downfield to Watson this week. But they can do that with different receivers week and week out because there's not a lot of complexity in the passing game with these young wide receivers. When it's man, it's, hey, we're going to create leverage. average for you, you run fast, you catch the ball, you score. One minute left. I had no problem going for it. You're on the road. You're paying DAC 160 million. You have a back, a tight end, a receiver I like. That didn't bother me at all. Did it bother you, McCarthy, going for it? I love the decision. Hated the call. Every time the Cowboys start messing up, they get too spread oriented.

We said this a few weeks ago when we're talking about what would be better when DAC comes back opposed to Cooper Rush. I said, listen, if they run the offense, they ran with Cooper, they'll be perfect. If they get to spread-oriented, they'll have problems. They call a spread mesh play in that situation when they were running the ball well. They could have gone big. They could have forced man covers. They could have moved back out of the pocket instead of the spread, dropback stuff, which is not what they're best at.

They're best when they play big, run the ball, run action, move the pocket. Yeah, good stuff. Trent Dilfer, by the way, beyond the X's and O's. Check out Trent's podcast. They are rolling his team. runs the ball, commits to it, and is stubborn. That's why they drop big points on Saturday or Friday, excuse. Friday, your games are Friday, right?

Friday nights. All right. Good seeing you, my man. Thanks, brother. He brings a great point. It is easy. Trent brings up a good point. You don't get big splash plays with run games.

I mean, right, most of the times. So you have to really go into a game and commit to the run. It's easy to fall in love with the past if you're Miami because you get, you know, you look brilliant as a coach. big plays, splashy plays, crowd goes nuts. Four and a half yards beats that. If I can get four and a half yards per carry, I take your offense off the field. And I thought Green Bay decided we're going to run the football.

And it's ugly and it's slow and you don't get a lot of applause. You don't get a lot of credit. But over the course of a game, you start wearing down a defense. They're on the field and it worked. Well, I'll say the line in the NFL is so, I mean, the margin for error is so tiny. Colin, what will we be saying this morning? if Aaron Rogers had lost that game. That sideline exchange with LaFleur after he called two runs in like a two-minute drill,

he was like giving up. Aaron Rogers, I think, cursed at him on the sideline. Did you see the video? I'm okay with that. I like, I like. You're okay with handoffs in a two-minute drill? No, no, I'm always okay with Aaron going after it and not being passive-aggressive. I'm okay with the quarterback coach Yellen.

I got no problem with that, Aaron. If Aaron's got a problem, address it immediately. I got no problem with Aaron Yellen at his coach. See, none. You're in a tie game at home. Well, well. And we got hand of the ball off with less than two minutes left. Well, we got a lot of show left.
