Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:00:45 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam?
Starting point is 00:01:04 It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast, Point Game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was crying. You just understood. That's how personal it got.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis come into it. He's like, you know, I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the, iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:33 And here's Heather with the weather. Well, it's beautiful out there, sunny and 75, almost a little chilly in the shade. Now, let's get a read on the inside of your car. It is hot. You've only been parked a short time, and it's already 99 degrees in there. Let's not leave children in the back seat while running errands. It only takes a few minutes for their body temperatures to rise, and that could be fatal. Cars get hot, fast, and can't.
Starting point is 00:02:00 be deadly. Never leave a child in a car. A message from Nitsa and the Ad Council. Therapy is fantastic, but once again, it does not have a monopoly on healing. That's why I create the resources and that's why I create the community because I really just want you to have more access. On the podcast, Cultivating HerSpace, Dr. Dom and Terry Lomax create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. It's tough because we're suppressing our emotions and so many of us are like high achieving individuals. Listen to cultivating her space on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, thanks for listening to the Covino Enrich podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 5 to 7 Eastern, 2 to 4 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for Covino and Rich at Fox SportsR.com or stream us live every day on the IHeartRadio app by searching FSR. Get them out of here. Ooh. We're getting ready for the Knicks game tonight? Walk in here.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Come in New York coffee. Cabino and Rich broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio. Remember to stream all of our shows on the new and improved IHeart Radio app. Search Fox Sports Radio. Set us number one, because that's what we are, Rich. Number one.
Starting point is 00:03:21 In your hearts and your presets. I heart radio app. What's up? I'm Steve Kavino. That is Rich Davis. And I hate our NBA. MVP. Ah, we'll find out.
Starting point is 00:03:33 I hate SGA. You're going to tell us why? I hate SGA. I bet you has something to do with gambling. I hate Uncle Jamie. Did he draw a foul on you too? Yeah, exactly. I hate him, I'll tell you why.
Starting point is 00:03:46 There's no big reveal. We were talking yesterday about our draft king's pick sixes. Well, first and first, mostly, do you want to congratulate the MVP? No, I don't. Yeah. I hate SGA. You got to congratulate. I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. I hate him.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I hate him. Don't hate, congratulations. Remember love actually? We hate Uncle Jamie. I hate SGA because... No, because I hate and despise that movie. Oh, you're a dunce then. Yeah, okay. Well, last night, I hit all my pick six except for one. And that was, if you listen to yesterday's show, SGA was 31 and a half. And I picked the over and he ended up with 31.
Starting point is 00:04:23 And then in the fourth quarter, they pulled him out. Oh, half a point. You suck, Rich. I hate you! You could have had like, what, 300? It was a nice little payoff. Something like that. So I hope you had a thunder, feed a thunder.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Thunder store tonight. You saw that youthful energy, that chemistry kick in late in the game, 1148 over the timber wolves. And tonight, man, Pacers, Nick, super pumped about that. But last night, aside from some great basketball, you probably watched this documentary. We're going to talk about it. But.
Starting point is 00:04:58 And far as trash. Yes, exactly. That's what we're calling this segment. But we're also going to get into midweek major, turning your hump day into a hump night. Every Wednesday we go over to biggest stories in sports and pop culture. Are the stories mid, week or major spots getting ready for that at Spot Center. If you want to play along at Covino and Rich. And I don't know if you heard, Patrick Mahomes has two new weapons. I'm inappropriate, but accurate.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Mahomes has two new weapons. If you don't know what I'm talking about, we will explain. You got to just hang with us all the show. In fact, we're going to give away prizes. We're going to do Mike's Words of Wisdom. Big Mike who runs this place? Who? Mike.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Every Wednesday, Wednesday Words of Wisdom. If you could repeat it verbatim, it's that simple. You win a prize, so stick around. But before we talk Mahomes, before we talk midweek major, and we're going to take it back to the year 2000 today, we got to talk about Brett Favor. Ever heard of him? With the 30th third pick of the NFL draft, the Falcons choose Brett favor.
Starting point is 00:06:04 And you know what? What was Brett Farve doing here? I don't remember Orville Redenbacher choosing Brett favor to the Falcons. I don't remember that. I don't. Favor. And then Chris Berman there with the rescue with the assist, making a joke out of it. And then I'm a favor to pick Farv.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Great job there, Berman. But Brett Farv, the fall of Farv, untold on Netflix, debuted last night. talked about it briefly yesterday just to hype you up for it, but we all watched it. What are your thoughts? What were your takeaways? And here's what's crazy about life and the new cycle that we live in, especially in today's world, more now than ever, is how quickly you forget. Like, we remember the story, but you don't remember all the details.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And when they're compiled into one untold documentary, you're like, yeah, damn, Brett Farve, how do you get away with that? Brett Farve is trash. Like, yo, man. You were a great football player and all, but this good old boy did some shady stuff. I think it was best summed up by that Green Bay reporter who was asked to do a story about Brett Favre the family man. And he's like, I don't write fiction.
Starting point is 00:07:16 That was a great line. It was. With our trend of Brett Fav is trash. He's trash. Your takeaways, you know, there's a few. one of them, and this wasn't even what made him trash. Yeah, like, what did you forget about? What did you learn for the first time?
Starting point is 00:07:35 Has your opinion changed? I think it should have. I do. I mean, you could separate the people. He was a great football player. Yeah. But gunslinger, as they pointed out, 25 times. They did.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And you know what? He did throw harder than the average quarterback. Breaking fingers, dude. Breaking fingers. You know, great quarter. but not a great guy. And I think a lot of us chose to forget about that. We did not.
Starting point is 00:08:03 No. But we were reminded of other things. Even I was watching last night, Rich. And I was like, yeah, I forgot about that part. So what were your takeaways, guys? 87799 on Fox. Let's start off with Rich. 87799 on Fox.
Starting point is 00:08:16 My big takeaway that has nothing to do with him being trash. We'll get to that. I absolutely forgot that he adamantly retired twice. and then came out of retirement quickly after. I forgot how annoying the, I will never play another game before. But the thing is, we know because he played for
Starting point is 00:08:35 the Jets and then he played for the Vikings. But you're right. I forgot how it went down as well, because again, we live in the time of next. The next story. What's the next story? And then you move on and you forget a little bit. I think we Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers, an apology
Starting point is 00:08:52 because their retirement hoaxes or comeback. or anything. Nothing compared to Brett Farve's double dozy of I'll never play again Barry to back and then back again. Like what a pain in the ass.
Starting point is 00:09:08 Now, and trash by the way. When you watch the inappropriate picture portion of the story I was reminded just how much it affected Jen Sturger. Like we knew that and Rich you could explain
Starting point is 00:09:26 why and how we knew that. But I forgot that she was doing that much in the industry. She really had a great thing going. What I don't want to do is this is not about me. I don't want to insert myself. But the reality is I was dating, Jen, during the time of this happening. And Spot or video guy was her roommate. So I mean, when you talk about being close to a story, no one could be closer. That's why it was extra weird for us to watch. I was oddly, oddly emotional. watching this. I really was. I lack empathy. Yeah, Rich and Spots should have been in this document. I mean, I'm not even joking. Or maybe me, because they were two, like, they had biased
Starting point is 00:10:06 opinions. Throw me in there. You know, what was in this documentary? My living room and my plant, which I still have. That's right. Kvino and I were like, wait a minute, is that your plant? So trust our perspectives, and we'd love to hear yours, 87799 on Fox, because we've known her for years. Rich really knew her on a different. level. Spot lived with her. She was a frequent guest on our show
Starting point is 00:10:30 and it was a sad time but like I said, being so close, I knew her as Jen and I knew she loved sports and I knew she was doing cool stuff. But when you see it compiled all the things that she did and the past she created and the opportunity
Starting point is 00:10:45 she created for herself, you're like damn man, one guy's weiner's shot gotten away of all of that momentum. That's a shame, dude. I said to Kavino to Give an analogy. Who does it better than me? Maybe Colin?
Starting point is 00:10:59 Stars! Just because you label yourself the guy with the analogies doesn't make you the best of them. Eventually it gets in your head. I think we all give analogies. Not mine of the best. I said to Kavino, that would be like when your career was just starting to take off. I'm still waiting for it to take off. When we were in the early days of Maxim and Sirius XM, when our show was really starting to gain some steam,
Starting point is 00:11:23 that would be like in that moment. A girl sent you a boob pick. And because of that, your career got derailed. Yeah, that's not fair, man. Not fair. Doesn't seem fair now, does it? No, not at all. And I think we were completely reminded at what a different time it was.
Starting point is 00:11:41 And I wish they brought this point home more. We made this point yesterday, but let's repeat it again. That happened in today's world. It would never go down like that. It just wouldn't. And I understand that Brett Farv was a football god and still is. to a lot of people, but what he did was wrong. And in today's world, you know, Jen would have been a victim and Brett Farr would have had
Starting point is 00:12:04 to answer a lot of questions. Back then, they pushed her aside and he was a hero, which is terrible. As Jen said, she lost her show. She had a TV show that was canceled. And Brett Farr was inducted into the Hall of Fame and his life went on and he was the greatest and he's doing copper fit sock commercials. Right. So it's like it didn't affect him, but it completely.
Starting point is 00:12:25 affected her. Today's world, the Me Too movement happened. Anytime someone missteps or does something crazy like that, it's big news, man. And you're canceled. Dude, Brett Favre was still a hero. And unfortunately, Jen paid the price and her career took a hit as a result. And to fast short to the second part of the documentary. Probably, rich, it probably affected your relationship. I mean, no doubt. That's a whole other weird discussion there. And friendships. I mean, listen, it's an awful scenario. And you know who doesn't get enough blame that dirtbag and Deadspin, that AJ guy? Because, you know, had he not blown up the story about Jen receiving the lewd text and everything,
Starting point is 00:13:12 then it would have just been an awful experience for her that she would have had to remember and have dealt with. But by him exploiting that and blowing it up and paying someone to hack her, which is next level. dochebaggery. What was cool about this untold documentary is that she had the receipts because even if you were close to the story, even if you had paid close attention to the story, there was still
Starting point is 00:13:36 a part of you that thought, really? She was hacked. Come on. You know, or you had this impression that maybe she was flirty with Brett Fav. But you learn
Starting point is 00:13:50 right from the source that she never even met the guy. And that was always the That's a big, big revelation. That was always the thing that Kavino, Spot, and myself always found wild from knowing Jen very well. Because people would assume that because she was a good looking girl. Jen's a great person. And I think that. People would assume she was looking for opportunity, Rich.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I think that one of the biggest takeaways is that you're right. We knew it because, again, we're close to the story at the time. But we always knew that, you know, Jen had never met him, never shook his hand. And he was just a creep trying to kick it to her. I remember that, but I forgot. And the fact that they've never met, and he's so cavalierly is like, yeah, whatever. Like, Guy is, what did I say? Brett Farve is trash.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Fat Farve is trash. The guy's a piece of ass, really. And to be honest, a piece of ass. No, S, he's no piece of ass. I was saying, I never heard of used like that. He's got a little dinky, too. You'd be like, that guy's cheeks. If my dinky was that small, would you would never send it to anyone?
Starting point is 00:14:52 Any more crocs in the photo? What a loser. That was a little tiny black box that they used to cover it up. If they're going to blurt out your penis on TV, you hope they use a bigger box than like, tiny, tiny little box. So again, we understand how the public probably viewed it. Jen was sexy. She's a good-looking girl. Oh, she's probably flirting with Brett Farv.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Even George Staphanopoulos, what's his name? Snufflupicus. George Snufflupicus. Even Snuffelupicus was insinuating that. It was probably flattering, right? Jen, I mean, it is Brett Far. she's like, no, not at all, you bozo. What a loser that guy is.
Starting point is 00:15:27 She wasn't looking for that because she really was trying to make the most of her opportunities in the sports world. What's up, D.B? I thought that her comeback, which was you're insinuating that I would be flattered. Yeah. Was so biting. And granted, it happened, you know, how many years ago. But that was probably the second biggest part of that documentary where you take a step back. But just that line.
Starting point is 00:15:52 The time and place we're in that a reporter on ABC Nightly News would insinuate. I mean, Jenny, are you flattered that one of the best quarterbacks of all times sent you as junk? Like, are you out of your mind? Yeah, yeah. This is so interesting considering your connection. I'm not connected to Brett Farr, but I was born and raised in Wisconsin. The first game that he appeared in with the Packers that they put in this documentary, I was at against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Starting point is 00:16:20 With that 92-yard drive. It was- What a performer. What a gutsy football player. The separation of this, you know, it's wild to me. Then in my broadcasting career, you know, like throughout Favre's later days, the retirement stuff that you mentioned of like there were not only like two official retirements. There was the one that he announced with Green Bay and the one that he announced with the Jets.
Starting point is 00:16:39 It was also the previous two or three seasons where he always hinted it and wanted people to, you know, be like, oh, come back. Yeah. But there was never a full announcement by it. But it is interesting because I was even asked what I thought about the, documentary. And first of all, I don't think it even should be a FARV documentary. I figured that there was so much of Jen Sturger on it and that story. And not that the welfare stuff was just kind of put at the end, but it was so dramatic. But also this line of, this timeline of
Starting point is 00:17:12 Fav was kind of felt by, I think, a lot of the people that had backed him. And when he went to the Vikings, he no longer had that aura around him from Packer fan. So everything that was wrong that he would do wrong, you would be like, oh, okay, maybe he isn't the guy that we thought he was. And so when she says, if people are telling you who they are, you know, believe them, I think that summed up the whole thing. I actually think it's, I didn't learn a lot about FARV in that scenario coming from where I came from.
Starting point is 00:17:46 But man, like he's just, yeah. Just not a good guy. Listen, as someone, like we said, who knew Jen well knows Jen, to us, I hope there's some redemption for her. I hope this leads to a cool opportunity in someone saying, hey, this woman got her, you know, her career shot down because of this. Maybe someone gives her a chance now. I thought another telling quote, Dan Beyer, was from former Packers coach Mike Sherman. I mean, he didn't say it, but it was quoted in the documentary where Brett Farr felt so invincible at one point. where he went rogue on a play,
Starting point is 00:18:21 and Mike Sherman was furious on the sideline, and Farre's attitude was like, what are you going to do? What are you going to do? Was the attitude towards his head coach? And listen, when you win a Super Bowl for a small market team like that, who is so thirsty since the Bart Star
Starting point is 00:18:38 early Vince Lombardi days, of course this guy's going to be a hero. And Brett Farrow on the field can't take away from the fact that he was a warrior, a gunslinger, one of the toughest SOBs to ever wear. a football uniform, but off the field, it seems like we got to see what this dude's all about. We haven't even gotten into the volleyball stadium story yet that Dan touched on, but that's just another layer of what.
Starting point is 00:18:59 I hope it was a nice court. What a trash bag story this is. Oh, but that nice net. And again, it made me oddly emotional because of the impact it had on so many people and so many lives, especially Jen's. And at the time, too, maybe because at the time when we heard about this, you know, look, I'm just a stupid young man at the time, right? This is 15 years ago.
Starting point is 00:19:19 You're 20-something-year-old guy. I'm like, what, Brentford? What? No way. Not understanding or realizing the ramifications that would eventually come of it, you know, and ruin poor Jen's career and everything. And now she has this reputation and this stigma. And again, we know it.
Starting point is 00:19:35 But when you see it laid out that way, you see how much it affected her and other people. And you're like, man, this is terrible. Why do you think Mike Vick, by the way? Was he there to be like, hey, I effed with some dogs and you hate me? and this guy does all this? Like, what was the... No, I think it's the opposite. It's like, here I was the most hated dude,
Starting point is 00:19:53 and now people have accepted me and I've moved forward. And you're going to hate Brett Farf even more than you hated me. He started the contribution as this is what it's like being a quarterback in the South, a legendary quarterback. I think it was like, you think when I did was bad, wait till you get a load of this guy. As that Peter Griffin would say, and family guy, you think that's bad. Yeah. Michael Vick said the system is rigged.
Starting point is 00:20:16 And so, you know, if you are Brett Fav, you can get away with some of that. Okay, so now here's what I was also reminded of. Your takeaways from the Fall of Fav, controversial Netflix documentary. Number one, today, we told you to watch it last night, gave you a homework assignment. Now we want to get to your phone calls and feedback. Again, completely remember the Jen thing. We sort of lived it. Spot was living with her.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Rich and her were together. She was a friend of all of ours. and, you know, still in contact today. I totally forgot, Rich, about other Jets employees coming out afterward. Other masseuses and people saying that he was sending them the same sort of messages. I'm in my hotel and I'm horned up. Yeah. Honestly.
Starting point is 00:21:03 He said, I have bad intentions. Yeah. I did forget about that. I completely forgot about that part of the story. Just, you know, adding so much, so much to what he was. really about and got away with it. That's the thing. He was unscathed for all these years.
Starting point is 00:21:23 So your takeaways, we get to your phone calls and feedback. And we're going to take you back to the year 2000, way back on a Wednesday. The last time to Nix, we're in the Eastern Conference Finals. What else was going on in year 2000? We're going to take you back 25 years. And Mahomes has two new weapons. Whoa, whoa. If you haven't heard about this, we'll break it down.
Starting point is 00:21:46 all coming up. Kavino and Rich right here on Fox Sports Radio. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it.
Starting point is 00:22:56 We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:23:12 Oh, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before. For Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Starting point is 00:23:32 Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris. Every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jenchian win.
Starting point is 00:24:34 I mean, she went down in three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world, right now and I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:24:57 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. and finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:25:21 And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us
Starting point is 00:25:41 on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's first, friends stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Keith Gianmanca seemed like a mild-mannered suburban dad. But secretly, he became someone else, a master of disguise who went on a crime spree. At the time, did it seem like a crazy idea? It seemed very crazy. But I felt so desperate that I felt it was the quickest, easiest way out. Did you allow yourself to think about how it could go wrong and what that might look like? No. I didn't want to manifest that. I was trying to manifest success.
Starting point is 00:26:43 Every family has its secrets. But what happens when you discover that your dad has been living a double life? That is not the look of an innocent man. This is going to change my life and my family dynamic forever, because everything that had existed prior in my reality is now untrue. Listen to Deep Cover the Family Man on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Sam could have went radiohead creep, but he went STP creep.
Starting point is 00:27:23 And I respect it. I like that one better, to be honest. I respect it. I could have gone a TLC creep too. No, save TLC for when we do, um... That's a different creep. That's like so I creep, yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:34 That's some kind of lingo. When we talk about the 2000s? Yeah. Yeah, when we talk about the 2000s, how about that? So we're Kavino and Rich, Iowa Sam's on the ones and twos. Danny G. Superproducing. Spot Sturger's ex-Rummate. He's getting ready for midweek,
Starting point is 00:27:49 major and we're Kavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. Not to make light of that terrible story and, you know, hopefully, as we said, as we said, Jen hopefully gets some redemption out of this. I think she will. Spot, no jokes here. Probably one of the first people to see the terrible
Starting point is 00:28:07 text from Farf. I guess they were roommates. Okay, so here's a question that we were asked earlier today on our Patreon. Did you guys see the pick? Spot, do you remember the first time you saw the pick? I do. I, for some reason I remember, like, I don't know, my space being of, I don't know, something was good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:26 Yeah, so I did see the pick. I saw it. It was probably on a foot phone. Yeah, I saw it on a phone. Like, what? Crocs! What is that? This week.
Starting point is 00:28:35 The reality is, it would have just been dirtbag Hall of Famer sent our friend an inappropriate text. And we kept that secret for like a year and a half, right? Because it was no, it was not our business to share. No, no. It was a private story. And it was that Deadspin guy. that I think he's a big part of what ruined Jen's life. He is.
Starting point is 00:28:55 And one thing you didn't point out, Rich, after he leaked that, a lot of the narrative in the media is, why is she coming out with this now? She didn't come out with anything. But that was the narrative. Yeah. Again, because she was a good looking girl, and we just had that way of thinking back then.
Starting point is 00:29:10 It was a different time. And Brett Farve's a hero. How dare you? So what did you learn? What were your takeaways? And, of course, we're giving away prizes on this show today. So stick around. we're going to play some Mike's Wednesday Words of Wisdom
Starting point is 00:29:23 and Midweek Major. But right now, live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio. What up, D.B. Not to share stories, but I think that there's just something that you guys said that you guys knew about this for a year. Yeah. And not that you never really thought anything of it. But that also tells you, I think that everybody here probably has a story
Starting point is 00:29:44 about someone who was famous through some connection of a family member or yourself that makes you look at someone else in a little different light than maybe what the general public does for the famous person. No doubt. But that also then tells you on to Jen Sturger's problem of how difficult it is to shake that or for Brett Favre to say, what are you going to do about it? Like that's like that shield around this, the famous person or the athlete.
Starting point is 00:30:13 It's like Jets said in that special. Like he was a football god and she was a, freelance worker for the Jets. Leverage. Yeah, it was so much leverage. It was a different time. It's sad to see. And Dan, speaking of that timeline, I was reminded yesterday.
Starting point is 00:30:30 Again, I knew, but I forgot that this all started to unfurl and unfold when he was with the Vikings. That's what he was dodging those questions. Not when he was with the Jets. The reality is, like you said, there's people that tell secrets. We've never been the type of show that if
Starting point is 00:30:47 we get wind of something, we want to break salacious news. I feel like that's scumbag behavior. I really do. I'm not going to, I won't even say the person on our show one time at SiriusXM. We did a pre-taped interview.
Starting point is 00:31:00 We interviewed a celebrity before our show. Famous guy. Famous guy. That everybody knows. And he referenced his boyfriend. And Kavino chuckled like, ha, he goes, oh no, the guy was like, I'm gay.
Starting point is 00:31:11 You know, I've never actually said that. And then after the interview, he said he'd never been asked. Yeah. And he's like, He was very comfortable with us. After the interview, his PR people said, Hey, listen, you could do what you want,
Starting point is 00:31:24 but he would prefer, if you don't mind taking that little part out. It was not our place, in my mind, to out him. I love that because that's such an opposite of like the tabloids. Like you guys just held on to that. It's the opposite of what happened in this story with that guy from dead. To me, since the celebrity. People just want attention. You guys are like, no, we're good.
Starting point is 00:31:40 This celebrity has come out openly gay now. But we knew back in the day. And again, I felt like it would have been a, lame-ass move to be like we're going to be the ones that out you i feel like that's a bad characteristic and we will never be those people but i think the point like i a buddy of mine was at a college where an NFL team held a training camp years ago and saw one of their star players leave next door at like 2 a.m where there was a house full of girls and oh oh and so i've never looked at that player the same because i know that story i knew someone that but but i i agree same thing
Starting point is 00:32:16 That's the point. Like, I think everybody has those stories. I know someone, again, I won't call people, but I know someone that work for the Mets. And you know, I'm a big Mets fan. There was a player that kept getting banged up with injuries. And I'm like, oh, man, they can't shake this hamstring thing. And someone said, well, if they weren't out drinking and drugging until three in the morning, I'm like, that's what they're doing. Sure.
Starting point is 00:32:34 And in my mind, they were just really trying to rehab that leg. And they're like, no, no, they party every night. And they're never going to get better because they're just, you know. And that guy was Mr. Met. But think of how many people know that story. and also didn't out it. Yeah, exactly. That's the crazy thing about it.
Starting point is 00:32:50 I know. Some people, you could argue that to have an integrity works against you in our world. I'd rather have it. So it's number one today, the fall of far. Wishing Jen the best, wishing the Mississippi people the best. Yeah, and that's the other part of the story.
Starting point is 00:33:04 The guy ended up with $1.1 million to himself. Yeah. To himself, not just the, again, I was reminded of that. Yeah, once he found out that he could get that money, he went back for more. This was money that was supposed to be used for the poorest of poor people in Mississippi. And he's a really poor people. And the majority of the money went to his daughter's stupid volleyball stadium.
Starting point is 00:33:30 And then $1.1 million went to himself. Yeah. They said a single mom with two kids in that state at the time could get, and this was just a few years ago, could get, what was it, $300 a month? Yeah, like $2.60 something or whatever. Yeah. No, but Farv's kid needs new nets on their volleyball point. But here's the thing, Rich.
Starting point is 00:33:49 We remember the gist of it. We remember, like, oh, yeah, the volleyball thing. One point one in his own pocket, like he didn't have enough. The text messages where he was asking the politician who helped him get the money, can I get caught doing this? By the way, the receipts were so key in this documentary. Oh. Because if you had any speculation on Sturger or that story, it put it to rest.
Starting point is 00:34:10 I promise you this. All the proof was there. I promise you this. If your husband, your husband, wife, boyfriend, or girl, friend or someone goes, hey, can I get caught if I do blank? They're about to do some scandalous crap. Like, that's just, you don't say, can I get caught doing this? Are you a cop?
Starting point is 00:34:26 Are you a cop? I got to ask first. You don't preface that. Yeah, you don't preface that. If you talk to a girl in Vegas and she goes, you're not a cop, are you? You know what she's doing. I mean, people only ask if they could get in trouble if they're doing something wrong. Let's wrap it up, your takeaways from this documentary.
Starting point is 00:34:43 by the way two good documentaries this week this one in peewee herman on friday i can't wait i'm excited for that for real can't wait that's on max but your phone calls now to wrap it up 877 99 on fox let's go to miami what's up miami set you're up with covino and rich hey guys how it's going a little hot take for you a little bit of fire yeah look uh i don't think it's a far of issue i think this a societal issue i think we all understand that right you know yeah when you think about your integrity and your morals throughout you know we'll just keep it with this country I worked in an industry, similar to your guys' industry, where a lot of personalities, a lot of talent has to have a little bit more besides, you know, a know-how, right?
Starting point is 00:35:25 So I'm not, again, what happened to that woman is absolutely terrible. And, yeah, Brett Park should be held accountable. Should, you know, obviously be facing criminal allegations here. But in your guys' industry, we'll just speak within your guys' entertainment industry, how much does, you know, especially from the female mentality of the female, email portion of it, do you have to sacrifice knowing that you are going to be able to make a little bit of headway based off your looks and things like that? And knowing that we're hanging in care, we're essentially daily and carriage in front of,
Starting point is 00:35:58 you know, these savages. I mean, we're all, you know, we're all, man, here. We know how we can be. So just taking that in consideration. That is a layer of it. Like David mentioned, like, you know, when she was working with the Jets, like, the guy was like, security. You're going to throw her in the stands with a bunch of savage fans?
Starting point is 00:36:14 It's like, yeah, listen, it's just a reminder to check yourself as a grown man. Like how hard it is, too. It's a reminder of how hard it is for women to deal in this boys club of sports and broadcasting. But how far it's come, too, because when you look around now, there's nothing but beautiful women hosting these shows and broadcasting in the world of sports. And another thought I had, Rich watching this, and we'll wrap it up with one more phone call, though, was like, you know, Jen is a person. She's not just a picture or sexy, beautiful woman. that she described herself as on the show. She's a person.
Starting point is 00:36:47 And imagine her dad, like, we met her dad. We knew her dad. Imagine your daughter, your kid, who you love, hits sort of the life lottery and Musburger points her out. And she gets this great opportunity only to be ruined because some guy decided to do that. Like, just from a parental perspective? Yeah. Forget about Rich, you know, dating her and spot living with him.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Like from a parental perspective, how does his dad, his dad must want to karate, karate chop breadfall over the In the bean bag. That's his infuriating. Very small beanbag. Yeah. You know, as a dad, I hear what Kavino's saying. Think about that. Danny, you got kids.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Imagine if you're one of 80,000 people. If your kid's career got sidetracked because of some pervy guy of power, you'd be furious. Oh, my God. Yeah. All right. Let's say how to Deakin in Houston. Wrap this up and we'll go to DB for an update. What's up, Deacon?
Starting point is 00:37:39 Hey, what's up, fellas? I love listening to the show. Listen, man, Farv's been a jerk for a lot. long time and a lot of us have known it. But I wanted, what I want to do, I didn't realize about this deadspin dude, this AJ guy. I didn't realize any of that at the time. And what I wanted to say, man, how many times have we seen in this new world somebody get canceled for something they did 10, 15, 20 years ago? Bro, it's never too late to hold a jerk accountable for ruining somebody's life. And you guys have just a platform to do it.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Dude, if there should be someone that is held accountable now, Brett Fav and the AJ dude from Deadspin should be, you know, should be, you know, held accountable. I was going to say the worst, but they should be held accountable. I would not. For the career losses that she's taken, Farve should have to pay her. No doubt. And I think that if Deadspin wasn't already gone, didn't they, aren't they canceled because
Starting point is 00:38:36 the whole Kogan, right? No, that was Gawker. Yeah, it's been still around. It just got bought by a different company. It just doesn't have the same profile. But I believe, were you talking about when Gawker released like a sex tape with Hulk Hogan? Yeah, yeah. They went out of business.
Starting point is 00:38:49 They went to that. Yeah. You know, you were also reminded of all those websites at that time in the only 2000, which she's talking about MySpace and all these other things that were going on. By the way, is it me or the 2000s, are they starting to feel like more of a time capsule? You know, when you look back now, you're like, oh, at the time, you don't feel like it's much different than now. and you're like, oh, look at the flip phones and the MySpace. We're going to take you back to the year 2000.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Who was in your top eight? We're going to take you back later today. We will go over that. But let's go to Demby for an update. Hey, DB. DB, what's up, bud? Guys, Cam Ward wasn't born in the year 2000. It wasn't until May 25th, 2002 that the Titans quarterback was born.
Starting point is 00:39:28 But today he signed his rookie deal for years, $48.75 million dollars fully guaranteed. Nice. The first overall pick crazy. To put him perspective, because remember there were some Mel Kuyper that thought Chidor should have been the top dog, four years 40-something versus four-year four million is a big difference. Yeah, the decibel point was moved one spot to the right for Cam Ward. He signs his rookie deal today. The big news in the NFL is that the tush push is staying, needing 24 votes to get the play band.
Starting point is 00:40:02 22 owners voted to get rid of it. That was not enough. So the play made famous by the Eagles is going to stick around for another year. As for the playoff receding proposal by the Lions, there was no vote. Lions withdrew it. NFL Network says that it could be back next season. Oklahoma City Guard, Che Gilges Alexander is your MVP for the 2024-2020 season. That's according to a report from ESPN.
Starting point is 00:40:27 Tonight, Nixon Pacers play game one of the Eastern Conference finals at Madison Square Garden at 8 o'clock Eastern Time. game one of the Western Conference finals and the Stanley Cup playoffs is at 8 Eastern time Oilers and Stars in Dallas. Let's get to some baseball. Pirates beat the Reds 3-1. Rays doubled up the Astros 8 to 4. The Orioles were 8-4 winners in Milwaukee and 11 snapping an eight-game
Starting point is 00:40:50 slide by the O's. Tigers took two or three from the Cardinals winning 5-1. Cubs down the Marlins 2-1. The Royals right now lead the Giants 8 to 2 in the 7th inning. Mariners were 6-5 winners against the White Sox. And the Twins and Guard are playing on a soggy afternoon in Minneapolis.
Starting point is 00:41:08 The Twisgis. The twins took the game that was resumed from Monday. They won six to five in that contest. Right now, the Guardians lead to one in the game that was scheduled today. Guys, back to you. Thank you, Dan. Thank you, man. Hey, coming up a lot, so get ready for this.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Mahomes got two new weapons. What are they? We'll explain. We got midweek major with Spot. Mike's Words of Wisdom. We're giving away prizes. so plenty of reason to stay right here. Oh, and we pay tribute to the year 2000.
Starting point is 00:41:38 We better make it snappy. All coming up right here, Kavino and Rich. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:41:53 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a... We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey, Jonas,
Starting point is 00:42:31 and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smigel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:42:55 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand because I competed there myself.
Starting point is 00:43:21 I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast, I'm breaking down everything happening at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on clay. Jen Chinch win. I mean, she went down at three to, two. Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Listen, Lena Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. What's up, famis, Isaiah Thomas?
Starting point is 00:44:04 And I'm C.J. Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
Starting point is 00:44:33 he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the fly.
Starting point is 00:44:50 He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball. After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the, iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:45:07 Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is. Getting a racist statue removed. And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is. Getting a new one put up in its place. As long as there's a politics of race in America, there's going to be a politics of remembering the Civil War. To get to school, I had to go down Robert Lee Boulevard. Get to the grocery store, I had to go down Jefferson Davis Parkway.
Starting point is 00:45:29 If you're an historian and you leave out half of what the history is, You're not doing your job. I'm Akila Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 goes deep on both of those things. The fights, the politics, the people who won, and my personal campaign to add something to the Kentucky State House that's actually worth the wall space. We are more than our bodies. We contain essence. We contain spirit.
Starting point is 00:45:52 How do you represent that? They are just fueling a fire that is really catching. You'll see what I mean. Listen to Rebel Spirit Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcasts. CNR on FSR. 1999. Because in the year 2000,
Starting point is 00:46:19 everything changed. We survived the Y2K and it was the last time the Knicks were in the Eastern Conference Finals, so we will reminisce in just a little bit here on Kavino and Rich. Rich was a snake champion on his Nokia phone. We got to go over this, Kavino.
Starting point is 00:46:33 The Tyraq play of the day. Got to go to Alex Caruso. and the Thunder had another big game in the playoffs. I was Sam when you're ready. My man hit it. Russo 7 a shoot he does an angle at three that's up.
Starting point is 00:46:50 And in, Cotting the Thunder Moneyball and those are finishing touches tonight, baby. Caruso blows a kiss to the crowd. The Thunder on their way to a game one win of 104.86. O KC goes up one game to nothing over the T-WOLV in the Western Conference finals. That's courtesy of WWLS
Starting point is 00:47:06 Thunder Radio Network. And that's Our tire rack play of the day for 40 years. Tyraq has been helping customers find the right tires for how what and where they drive. Ship fast and free, back by free road hazard protection and convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tyraq.com the way tire buying should be. Now, before we get into the year 2000, I love, I used to love that Conan bit in the year 2000. I was a big fan of the Max Weinberg, 7. We're going to go back 25 years, but I want to know of anyone else listening.
Starting point is 00:47:39 and I know the answer is yes. Are you part of the lawn sign rage of the 2020s? If your kid makes an all-star team, a gymnastics travel thing, a dance thing, the idea of people showing up and putting like the sign on your lawn, I see them everywhere. And I'm coaching the kids' all-star team this summer. And they're like, you can pick up the jerseys and the hats and the signs. I'm like, the signs.
Starting point is 00:48:04 They go, yeah, yeah, the lawn signs. And now that I pointed it out, you're going to, drive around your neighborhood. And if it's like, if little Tyler is on the 10-U All-Star team, part of that is a little lawn sign like, an All-Star lives here. You know what I have to say about that? Tyler made the All-Star team. Whoop-a-doo! Yay. Yay. It's like the bumper sticker saying your kid's an honor roll. No, but Danny, I like, you brag about it. Danny, I had noticed, I had noticed it recently. No, I'm not saying it's cool. I'm just saying, hey, you're going to celebrate your kid ain't no shame in that, whatever. I had noticed it. And then when they told you
Starting point is 00:48:39 You don't even with those balloon signs that people do for, like, graduations and stuff. No, but if people are way into the coaching scene and their kids are doing travel and All-Stars and all this, they really do have, like, signs, like almost like political signs you put in your lawn, like little Easton's an All-Star. I saw one that said Scott and Cindy are getting married. Whoopida-do. All right. Let's go back to the year 2000.
Starting point is 00:49:06 There's a search. What we're going to do right here is go back What are doing, Sam, it's not Thursday Back into time We are going back in back for a Thursday. It's not Thursday, Sam. It's not Thursday, Sam. Sam. Sam.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Sam, it's not Thursday. Today's Wednesday. It's midweek, Sam. Sam, it's Wednesday. We're just flashing back because the Knicks are in the Eastern Conference. Like, I know it's 50 after, but I get it. No, I was totally thrown off.
Starting point is 00:49:35 I don't know. I needed a minute to like collect myself. Yeah, it's not Thursday. Yeah, that's coming up on tomorrow's show. So don't miss. Don't miss Covino and Rich tomorrow on Thursday at 50 after. You know what they call that in the broadcasting world? That's a horizontal tease for what's coming up tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:49:55 Iowa, Sam, way to preview our throwback Thursday segment tomorrow. Tomorrow we throw it back. You're screwing with me because it's like the day is different, but everything else is the same. We tried to stop you about 10 times and you kept going. We're just going way back on a Wednesday, Sam, because in the year 2000, yeah, can you guys name two reality TV shows that debuted in the year 2000? Well, I know one of them. Let me tell you, Danny G., this is a little unfair because you're talking to Captain 2000.
Starting point is 00:50:22 So I will look up. You know, I'm the main voice on Series 6-A. Someone other than Rich then. And Rich still shops that structure. So, yeah, he knows. He knows a lot about it. Rich still gets his wardrobe from Arapa Stahl. So, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Stop it. We know. Rich is the king, Captain 2000 himself. One of them is the real world, right? No. No. Two other network shows. 1992, the network show.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Wait, no, but this is this today the anniversary? These were both on big networks. Survivor. Yes. Yes. Yes. Survivor debuted. By the way, there's now been 733 contestants in 48 seasons.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Okay. What's the other one? Is the Osbournes one of them? No. The other one. Big brother. Oh. And you know what else?
Starting point is 00:51:02 And the golden power of Vito. Am I also correct in saying, who wants to be a millionaire? That was late 90s. That was 99. I believe 2000. It's not on my list, but you might be right. It was the 99, 2000 season. This movie just had launched.
Starting point is 00:51:19 It was in the midst of an epic run. It was nominated for a whopping 12 Oscars at the 73rd Academy Awards. In the year 2000? Yes. And we talked about this actor just last week on our show. Not some Nicholas Cage. No, the other guy, Christian Bale. It wasn't Batman.
Starting point is 00:51:36 No, not Christian Bale. I'm sorry. I was getting confused with Bale and this actor. Both have stories about getting hot on the set. I'll give you that clue. Oh, Mel Gibson. No. Oh.
Starting point is 00:51:50 I think we all need to mentally reset like I was Sam. I know, right? I'm still doing that right now. All right, well, we'll tease it for the other side because we're also going to do the music. The top 40 list, I think Rich will nail some of the top 40 songs that were at the top of the charts. We'll do that next. plus Mahomes, new presence, and hey, midweek major coming up. Hey, guys, it's us.
Starting point is 00:52:09 The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it out.
Starting point is 00:52:20 We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
