Joy Taylor's joining me. I, just the breadth of all this activity. College football needed a breath of fresh air. It needed some movement. It got two insular, same teams. We have a chance to see Michigan in the playoff, and Brian Kelly's leaving Notre Dame, and there's great candidates out there, by the way,

for Oklahoma and Notre Dame. It's the best candidate year of my life. There's great, great candidates everywhere, and there's still four or five great candidates out there. I love when things that we've been talking about for years actually happen, and then it actually works. All we've been talking about forever is that you need some parity in college football. You need to spread it around.

You need to have the West Coast interested. You need to have some sitting on the edge of your seat about what your coach is going to do. Where are players going to go? The transfer portal. It's exploded and movement is why. Let's start with this. You know, mobility scares some people. people. And it clearly rewards others. Years ago, we used to rip NBA players when they choose to

control their future and not let an owner or a crappy GM or a bad coach control their future. How dare you not be loyal? And yet today, we look at athletes who don't move like Bradley Beal and go, what are you doing? Go to a better team. Mobility scares many of you. But those willing to push themselves are rewarded. And today, Brian Kelly has a better football job, LSU, because you get better players there. Coaches leave for different reasons. Brian Kelly is 60.

He has rebuilt three programs brilliantly. Notre Dame is in the best shape since Lou Holtz was there. But every time he plays Alabama or Georgia or Clemson, he's got by far the second best roster. because there's that academic thing and that cold weather thing and that rural thing. It's hard to coach at Notre Dame. Brian Kelly told me a decade ago in Texas. He said, you can't coach your 20 years.

At LSU, it is football 24-7. Brian Kelly recently said, if you're just into football, you can't coach at Notre Dame. He wants to finally go up against Kirby Smart or Dabo Sweeney. He wants to go up against Nick Sabin. and have as many great NFL players. Because he went to a national final game and got blown out. And then he went to two other playoff games and got blown out in both. And if he played Georgia in this year's playoff, he'd get smoked in that one too.

Because Brian Kelly, in a rebuilding year, he told all of us, this is not a playoff team. And yet here they are. He has done everything, every school has needed and paid him to do. And for once in his career at 60 years old, I want to have as good a players as Sabin when I play him. But Notre Dame is hard to coach. Not that LSU is easy. It's in the best college football conference.

But Louisiana per capita has more NFL players than any state in the union. I kid you not. You can basically only have to leave the state. state for an occasional offensive lineman. You can get all your players there. Brian Kelly has to get on a plane for every single recruit at Notre Dame. Do they qualify academically?

Do they want to play in cold weather? They don't give a rip about Aero Parsegan and Lou Holtz and the Golden Dome and 90% of kids these days. They don't care. I'm 50. I don't care. So it's a good job. And coaches leave for different reasons.

Kelly has been banging his head against the wall for years. They used to get mad at him because of the way he looked on the sidelines. Remember that when he first got there? You can't show that kind of emotion. This is too precious, too dignified, too rarefied of air for you. I don't think that's going to be a problem, y'all at Baton Rouge. He can yell and scream all he wants, like Nick Saban does, down the road at Tuscaloosa.

You can yell and scream at the, you know, at your players if you get mad. Or, by the way, as Nick Sabin does, yell and scream at your coaches. That too Nick really yells at his coaches. It's an easier job. The weather. The academic route's a little easier. There's players everywhere. You don't have to fly for every recruit.

And by the way, Ed Orgeron, who's leaving LSU, is one of the nation's best recruiters. Brian Kelly sees that pot of gold he's inheriting. They also have a good young quarterback. So for the first time in Brian Kelly's life, when he steps on that campus today, because he's flying there right now, he will have every bit as good a roster as Georgia, Bama, Clemson, and Ohio State. And this guy's been crushing it for 30 years. He owes himself to be challenged. Go ahead, complain about the players.

What about the players? What about him? I know Kyle Hamilton. The All-American is going to be a top five pick in the draft. I listened to him this morning. He's all good with it. He gets it. Shock, but gets it.

Players now can leave early for the NFL. They can skip bowl games. They can go into the transfer portal. They get paid. Players. Playoffs. Players are fine. Notre Dame players this morning.

They're handling it better than a lunatic fans at Notre Dame. Folks, coaches leave for different reasons. Brian Kelly's 60. He doesn't want to be in a golf course in two years. If you do, that's fine. But coaches now, players are playing into their 40s. Why can't he coach into his 70s? Belichick's almost 70s.

he's got eight years left. Pete Carroll's 70, second highest paid guy in the league. Nick Saban's almost 70. It looks like he could coach another 10 years to me. Brian Kelly doesn't want to sit in a golf course. He wants to challenge himself. He wants to be able to go toe to toe with the big dogs and have just as good, just as good. A staff, his coaching salaries will match everybody. He's going to make his defensive coordinator, Marcus Freeman. If he goes, the highest paid coordinator in America. America, just wants to be on an even playing field. And coaches do it for different reasons.

Lincoln Riley went to USC. Well, Lincoln Riley's history is DNA. He grew up in a small little town. And then he goes to Norman, Oklahoma. And the program doesn't really need him. They've always been good at Oklahoma. And he says, I got a beautiful family. Football's entertainment.

I want to go try to rebuild the entertainment capital of the world's football program, USC. I'm not going to tell coaches and families what's right for them. I've left four times across the country. I've made the right move three out of the four times. But I know what was good for me more than my critics. And Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley know. The players will be fine. It's the best year for candidates I've ever seen.

Oklahoma's going to get a great coach. Notre Dame's going to get a great coach. Washington just got one. Luke Fickle. is available. He's still out there. What a great opportunity. Luke Fickle, he's like the fourth best coaching candidate. Any other year, he'd be number one. This year he's about four. He'd go to Notre Dame and win. Maybe they keep Marcus Freeman. It looks like he'd do well. The players love him. Everybody's going to be okay. Many of you are terrified by mobility.

Push yourself. You can also be rewarded by it. So I, uh, yeah, I, um, I watched that Seahawk game, last night. I am from the Pacific Northwest. That hurt a little. I have been saying this now for several years that Seattle, the Seahawks are a house of cards. What do they do well besides anything connected to Russell Wilson? And the Pete Carroll Russell Wilson relationship, it is time to move on. 70-year-old coach, star quarterback. You tell me who wins. I'm not anti-Pete. I'm not trying to be pro-russell. But last night they had one rushing first down, 34 rushing yards, and 18 minutes of possession.

That's what happens when you have, for the fifth year in a row, a bad offensive line, second-tier running backs, a bad secondary. You've whiffed on all but about three draft picks in the last four drafts. You've made weird trades where you traded a safety, a third round pick and two first for a safety. Big changes are coming. They're inevitable.

and you know what side ownership will take. Russell Wilson started this year like he does every year in Seattle. Great. Then he got hurt. They rushed him back. He's not 100%. It is obvious. Now, he didn't play particularly well last night,

but this is the first four-game stretch in his career, three-game stretch, where he hasn't looked good. I think he's fine. Pete was fired twice, losing in Seattle before Russell. I trust that Russell, Wilson can get healthy and back on track more than Seattle's outdated schemes can be figured out. If you look in the NFL this morning, an offensive coach leads the NFC East, Mike McCarthy, an offensive coach Matt LaFleur leads the NFC North, an offensive coach Bruce Ariens leads the

NFC South, an offensive coach leads the NFC West, Cliff Kingsbury, an offensive coach leads the AFC West. The surprise team in the league Cincinnati is led by Zach Taylor, an offensive coach. The fastest surging team is San Francisco led by an offensive coach. That's the new reality. Pete Carroll after the game on their offensive struggles. Here you go. Film doesn't lie, you know, we're missing some stuff. And I don't see indications of that in practice as we're going. And so we just got, I got to go look at the film, you know. We can talk about all the different throws that didn't get where they're supposed to go. But I don't know what to make of it other than the fact we have to keep battling and keep trying to figure it out.

I felt like we had some guys open tonight, you know, with some chances. And unfortunately, we didn't hook it up. Listen, Russell didn't play well. It's not all on Pete. Pete's going to be a Hall of Famer. Pete won a National Championship. He's going to wear a gold jacket. That's not what I'm saying.

but we're going to have choice here. A star quarterback, an older coach with outdated current schemes. It's inevitable. Relationships, even the great ones that get titles, Belichick Brady, they don't last forever. Shack and Kobe, don't last forever. Jordan Pippen, don't last forever. So when they go sour, you know they're not lasting very long.

Lincoln Riley is the new coach at USC. He will join us in about 35 minutes from right now. It's an absolute pleasure to have you in today. There are lots of choices out there. Cliff Kingsbury's name is coming up. It is just crazy, folks. This is so much fun because I love college football so much. And I've had people for the last five or six years say,

Colin, you don't talk as much college football as you used to. And I say, you know my rule on the show. I talk interesting. I don't care what the topics are. It's up to you to be interesting. And college football in the last five years has gotten too insular and too repetitive and the same schools over and over and over and over. It is why I have had so much darn fun this year.

Michigan can now make the playoff. Like Alabama's not as dominant. Clemsons down. Notre Dame was in a rebuilding year. Here they are. And you know, Georgia, as good as they are, I couldn't say the last time Georgia was a dominant number one favorite. I got no problem with that. Georgia hasn't won since Herschel Walker.

That's kind of fun. I like to see George win a championship. But what's happened here, Brian Kelly to LSU and USC's got Oklahoma's coach. Just fun and fresh and new and vibrant. And if you really love the sport, not just your local team,

all you haters, is going to be joining us. You know, if I could tell you, you're going to make millions owning a waste management company or be an actor and maybe be in the Avengers. What would your kids think is cooler? If you could make millions being Joe Buck and broadcasting the World Series and Super Bowls or be a really powerful tax litigator. What would your kids think is cooler? It kind of matters, right? There's a lot of ways to be successful. But people move to Los Angeles for dreams because they can succeed elsewhere. But L.A. is fun. It's snowed during Ohio State and Michigan. We don't get that here or humidity. It's 80 degrees in

LA today. And as Lincoln Riley stood atop the USC Coliseum yesterday, the entertainment capital of the world was behind him. USC is struggling now, but the five or six biggest brands in college football are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama, and yes, USC. I know George is good now, but they got one natty. That's it. I know Clemson's good now, but they were invisible for 25 years. USC is a mega brand in the entertainment capital of the world. Hall of Fame, they've got the most ever. NFL players drafted number one ever until last year, now they're second.

Heismans 6 and would Lincoln Riley put another 5 on the board in the next decade? Right in downtown Los Angeles. From San Diego to Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. Barbara, east of Palm Springs, you never have to get on a plane and you'll have a top five recruiting class. When Pete Carroll was here, he had one rule for leaving the state. He would only recruit players out of the state if they were, in his mind, first round picks. Brian Cushing, like a Mike Williams, remember the wide receiver. Otherwise, there was no reason to leave. You don't even need Texas. And Texas has great players. You don't even need Georgia.

and Georgia's got great players. Occasionally sprinkle in a Florida kid, and it's all good. This is a great job that's down. Alabama was down. Oklahoma's been down. Ohio State briefly's been down. Michigan's been down. But boy, you don't rebuild these big brands.

You just reboot them. Here's Lincoln Riley yesterday. Everything intrigued me. It did. I think the location, I think the history of the program, I think the opportunities here to recruit and build a national championship level roster. The opportunity for my family to live in a new place, to experience new things. I think I've got two young girls, as we mentioned, and for them to be able to experience different things in this life is very, very important for me and my wife.

And so we've always kind of been people. we're not scared to take a risk. We're not scared. I don't see this is a risk, but we're not scared to take a jump. And this was the right time. And Oklahoma's going to be just fine, because Oklahoma football is always just fine. By the way, side note, not a big deal. But I've been a USC fan for years.

You live in Los Angeles. It's kind of cool, right? Like college programs are usually in the sticks, right downtown L.A. USC's got the easiest schedule I've ever seen next year. They don't play Oregon or Washington. Notre Dame's at home. They play Rice and then Fresno State, which now just lost their entire staff. If you've ever wanted to be eased in to a job and the PAC 10 has been circling the drain for four to five years, it's not going to take long.

Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd. line news. Well, after losing four games in a row, the Saints are making a change at the quarterback position. According to NFL networks Ian Rappaport, Taysam Hill, has been taking first team reps over Trevor Simeon in practice this week in preparation for Thursday night's game against the Cowboys. Well, you got paid last week, so why not?

Why not? And you're losing, so why not change it up? And Taysam did fill in for Drew Brees last year as a starter, and they went three and one. I think we all still have questions about whether he can be the long-term solution there, but this is a good opportunity to see what he is. Now, he has been dealing with a foot injury, so that's kept him as the emergency backup for Trevor Simeon, which is part of the reason why we haven't seen him since week 10, Tase him. So so far this season, he has 104 rushing yards on 20 carries with three touchdowns. They do play the Cowboys on Thursday night at 730 Eastern on Fox and are currently four-point

underdogs. I think, you know, I've said this. certain players work for certain coaches. Taysam Hill, to me, doesn't work for a lot of coaches. But with Sean Payton, I'm like, he'll figure out. Like when I saw the contract, I was like, I think we talked about it. I was like, I don't understand it. But for Sean, I called somebody I respect and he's like, for Sean Payton, he'll make it work.

It doesn't work for Vic Fangie. It may not work for Brian Flores. But for this coaching staff. For a very creative, offensive minds, Taysam Hill. can work. And he has had some success there. Obviously, they wouldn't be paying him if they didn't have some confidence in him. And they probably would have put him in over Trevor earlier if he hadn't been injured. So Thursday night could be a really interesting one seeing Tase him out there against the Cowboys. Four point underdogs, it feels like maybe the Cowboys should be favored by more than that.

Here's my question. If you've never faced Taysam Hill before, he's a hard, you know, we've said this. Like, if you never face Jalen Hurts, it's one. One thing when the Giants have now, a division rival, you've seen him or Lamar Jackson. If you never played Lamar Jackson, like Cleveland has seen Lamar so much, they got all sorts of film on how we match up. If you've never played Lamar or a quarterback like a Taysam Hill. Yeah, that's why Lamar, well, we're not comparing Lamar and Taysam Hill. I think Saints could beat Dallas.

I think it's a tough matchup. I really do. It's going to be an interesting one. And they might get Amari Cooper back. He apparently is still dealing with some residual. COVID stuff. COVID stuff. So let me see what I have it here. He is still not feeling the best and has a lingering cough after COVID. So his gut would be if Amari doesn't practice, he won't play. But Jerry Jones talked about it and Jerry is a little more optimistic.

So that'll be happening on Thursday. So Dalvin Cook dislocated his shoulder on Sunday's loss to the Niners. A source told Adam Schefter. So he is expected to miss at least the next two games Sunday at the Lions and the following Thursday against the Steelers. and he was replaced by Alexander Madison, who rushed three times for eight yards and caught one pass for two yards. This is really bad news for the Vikings. Now, it feels like to me, between the loss to the Niners and that, it's different.

Kirk Cousins with a great running game, it's almost like Jimmy Garoppolo with a great running game. Very efficient. I think this is a deal breaker for me. They're not a playoff team. They were trending in the right direction, and it seemed like they could sneak in, losing Dalvin Cook for two games and even if he does come back,

how healthy is he going to be going, you know, in those next two games and one being a short week with backups is going to be, it's going to be interesting. There's seven point favorites over the Lions, according to Fox Bed. At least it's, well, I feel like every time I'm like, well, you know, it's the Lions. Then it goes out of those one possession games. Lions are going to get one of these. So the Vikings have also placed Patrick Peterson on the COVID reserve list. So he is in question to be available for them.

game on Sunday as well. So with Lincoln Riley's departure for USC, the Sooners are, of course, looking for a new coach. Yes, they are. And Cliff Kingsbury deflected a question about his interest in that job. Yeah, I don't get into those things. My sole focus last couple weeks has been Chicago Bears. And after watching on Thanksgiving, it needs to be. We're in season. We're a nine and two. Just not a topic I want to touch on right now. I don't, listen, never say never. I think we've seen two of the craziest moves in college football over the last couple days. He's not two and nine.

He's nine and two in the NFL. This is one I would very, I mean, the last two ones were very shocking. I don't see this at all. I don't either. Like, at all. By the way, Cliff Kingsbury is also, he feels more city. Well, okay, so that's the other thing. Like, just if you're wondering if Cliff Kingsbury is thinking about going to Oklahoma,

just look up his setup from the draft. Like, it was going to be tough to get him out of Arizona, like to Oklahoma when that's how you're living life. You know, I mean, he's a young, good-looking guy. It's a big city. I just don't see him going, wanting to be on a planes flying into Starksville. And it just doesn't feel like what he would do. Like this, Cliff Kingsbury.

And why? They're winning. They're Super Bowl contenders. He feels like a McVeigh or a Zach Taylor. He's a young, smart, progressive guy. the best coaches in the world are in the NFL. Like, it just doesn't feel like going... And by the way, that's not to say that Oklahoma

isn't an amazing place. It's one of the top five or six brands. And Oklahoma's going to land somebody and win a bunch of games. Don't worry. It's fine. But it just doesn't feel like... If I was his agent, I'd be like, hang the phone up. He said he wasn't even affected by it.

He said he was in his movie room. He was in his movie room off the grid, unaffected by this. Look, I don't see Cliff Kingsbury going anywhere. Now, listen, if they, you know, go off a cliff, in the next year, but they don't have that long to wait. They have to replace Cliff, they have to replace him,

Lincoln Riley. So this window is not going to be open very long anyway. But Cliff Kingsbury is not leaving Arizona and Kyler Murray and that squad to go to Oklahoma. It's a nice thought, but they're nine and two

and our first in the NFC West. They play the Bears on Sunday and our seven-and-a-half-point favorites, according to Foxbat. Good stuff. Joy Taylor with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.

So, listen, my theory on all this stuff is Cliff Kingsbury's top of the world right now? Of course, a lot of people want him. Like Matt Rules losing in the NFL, and people want him in college football. So I'm not shocked people want him, but give us what you're hearing on Cliff Kingsbury. Yeah, a few things on Cliff.

To Joy's point, I did text him Sunday when these reports came out, and he was like, I'm watching Netflix in my room eating Mexican food. That's what he was doing. The NFL games were on. He's like, I'm watching Netflix. I have no idea what you're referring to. So he played it down there. He's in a final year of a contract with the Cardinals, and he's doing really well.

And the Cardinals are not paying him as much as what Sean McVeigh makes from the Rams, what Sean Payton makes from the Saints. or you name the young coach. I mean, Kyle Shanahan makes a lot more than Cliff Kingsbury does. So when you say that the agent should hang up the phone, maybe the agent should let those phones ring a little bit because at the very least, this creates a little bit of leverage. It wasn't just the Oklahoma rumor.

Now there's a Notre Dame rumor, too. Cliff is very happy with Arizona. They're doing really well. He's focused on the bears who they play this week. But his name being out there does not hurt. his value in the market, and that includes with the Arizona Cardinals, I am sure. Yeah, I'm glad he's doing well. He seems like an incredibly like. I've never met Cliff Kingsbury, but I find him to be very likable. And I like all these young offensive guys. All I know is

my eyes like watching high-scoring games, not watching the Lions Bears a couple weeks ago, so I'm good with it. Let me ask you about this. Joy and I think we're talking about this yesterday, is that had the Steelers and Bengals flipped uniforms, it would have looked like the last years of the rivalry. The physical team has always been the Steelers. No, it was the Bingles. The buttoned up team was not the Steelers. It was the Bengals. The star quarterback was not on the Steelers. It was on the Bengals. And I watch them, your takeaway on what you're hearing from your sources about this team going forward, the schedule, and a playoff contender. And you know what, Colin, they're having fun doing it. They were doing dances in the end

zone. They were celebrating. It wasn't like this. Wow. We're being in the Steelers. Can you believe it? It was like they expected to beat the Steelers. They actually asked Joe Burrow after the game. A reporter said, what's it like beating the Steelers? He's like, we've got greater aspirations than beating the Steelers. Like that it wasn't even so non-plus that it wasn't even a thing to them, which is a good sign. Two myths about the Bengals, one of them, that their offensive line wasn't any good and they needed to draft Penne Sewell fifth overall. Well, they took Jamar Chase, a wide receiver. Their offensive line is one of the best in football. They protect Burrow and they run the ball down your throat. The second myth was

that they're not very good in free agency. They don't spend money. No one wants to go there. Mike Hilton, a big free agent signing, had a pick six. Trey Hendrickson from the Saints had a strip sack and a fumble recovery in this game. Then Eli Apple, who's been discarded by the NFL, has been fantastic for them. He had an interception in this game. So though they don't spend the big money, like the Patriots did this off season, or aren't one of these shiny teams like the Cowboys, they spend their money wisely. And all those free agent acquisitions are playing really well. They've got a good young mix of rookies and second year guys that are playing together and then veterans who they've brought in from the outside. They're not surprised they're there. Zach Taylor is in the

conversation for coach of the year and they're not going away anytime soon. You know, what we've said on this show is that sometimes you have to compartmentalize stuff. You don't have to love everybody you work with or work for. If they're good for business, if they're good for you, put your head down. And I said this about maybe a month ago on the show. I said, if I'm Green Bay, I just say, Aaron, we're ripping it up. New Deal. We'll trade Jordan Love like the Patriots did Garoppolo. This is silly.

We need you. You're great for us. We think we're good for you. I watch Green Bay this weekend. Shrakes, I think it's the best team in the league. I don't know who's second. They're doing it missing six elite starters. They won in Arizona missing 11 starters.

Is there a chance? Just a chance that when this season ends, they could rip it up and Aaron's here to end. his career. Yes, yes, there's a chance. There's always a chance with this guy. And he's playing on nine toes. He's outrunning Jalen Ramsey on this play. But let me also give you a theory that has been floating around in circles around the NFL and texts that I get. Hey, the front office did a pretty good job. Do they not? Look at AJ Dillon, a second round pick. Everyone rolled their eyes at. He's playing really well at running back. Look at that offensive line. They don't resign Corey Lindley, who signs to be

the highest paid center in NFL history with the Chargers. They lose Josh Myers their center. Their third string is playing excellent right now. Their left tackle right now is now, Yosh Nyman, who is handling Von Miller in this game. You talk about guys like Newman, who's a fourth round pick. You talk about undrafted players. Runyon's a sixth round pick.

These are guys that Brian Gutinkertz drafted or signed as undrafted free agents, and they're all stepping up and they're all protecting Rogers. this team is down so many stars, whether it be Bakhtiari or Jaya Alexander, or you name it on the offense, and the next man up is playing. That's a credit to LaFleur. It's obviously a credit to Rogers to getting these guys.

But how about the front office takes a moment of some congratulations for drafting and signing the right guys? Billy Turner is at right tackle. It's playing out like an all-pro right now. He was discarded by NFL teams. Goody brought him in. So no one wants to ever praise the Packers' front office, And I'm not here to give out bouquets, but I would just say this.

I did a pretty good job building this roster this year. It's a lot, a lot of adversity. No question. I think they're absolutely stacked. Finally, hey, listen, you know, I said, we all know Stafford's better than Gough, but he can be reckless. And the history in Detroit was, if you put the whole franchise on him, you know, you're not going to get a lot of wins there.

I do feel like they lost Cam Acres. They lose Robert Woods. I kind of feel like, not Detroit, obviously, but they're putting a lot on Matt Stafford, and I'm seeing kind of the reckless Matt Stafford. Can they turn this puppy around? Is there a real concern in this organization? We've had pick sixes in three straight games.

The history with Stafford is he's close to becoming the quarterback with the most career wins in the regular season without a playoff win, and you see those doubts looming. I would say this. Their special teams has been atrocious. They've been terrible with ball control and turning the ball over.

If they clean those two things up, they are in these games. Now, no one wants to hear about injuries and excuses. They don't. So I'm not going to bring up Robert Woods because look what Arizona did without Kyler and DeAndra Hopkins. Look what the Titans have done without Derek Henry. And look with the Packers who beat them have done without their stars. But gosh, you have to feel like the games they've lost to the Titans, to the Packers.

These are good teams, all right? And of course, they lost to Arizona. And at the time, everyone's like, Arizona is the number one seat in the NFC. The one exception is the Niners game where they just got ran off the field. I know the people in the building, they're not panicking. They believe they can clean things up, special teams and turnovers. But it's certainly not a, hey, we should have kept Jared Gough. We can't win with Stafford type deal.

I think they still have a lot of confidence in this team, even with Von Miller and Odell Beckham being pretty quiet the last two weeks. Joy is a big component to that. And the reason I think Joy and I fit is because if you could go back to my days in Portland, my theme was always, I don't want to live a life of regret. I'm going to squeeze the orange for every bit of the juice. And that's why I love mobility.

I love when young people, old people say, I'm 60. I don't want to golf. I want to go to LSU, roll the dice. I can fail. I love aspirational people. The phone I have in my hand was built by a grinder who wanted to change the world. Steve Jobs said, I'm going to create something that you don't even know you need yet. And you will not be able to live without it.

All the things we enjoy. all the tech, all the fun is for people willing to fail. Brian Kelly's willing to fail. Lincoln Riley's willing to fail. We should applaud those people, whether they're chefs or artists or writers or actors or lawyers or coaches. America is the best place in the world to have an idea, put it into the market. and get rich fast. But to get rich, you got to put yourself out there.

And I'm not going to criticize people like that. All the gifts I have are from people willing to fail. I want Brian Kelly to kick butt. I want Lincoln Riley a kick butt. I want Luke Fickle maybe to go to Notre Dame and kick butt. I win. They don't win. I win.

I get better football. Harbaugh. Go ahead, rip him. He could have stayed in the NFL. He wanted to go to his alma mater. He wanted to roll the dice. Saturday, when you sat in the couch for four hours and 49 states rooted for Michigan, Harbaugh didn't win.

Brian Kelly's rich. Brian Kelly could retire tomorrow. He's fine.

He's got pensions from multiple schools. He's fine. He could get a network TV job tomorrow. He's fine. It's not a money move. I want better players move. He's been in the playoff three times. He's been crushed, rolled over by Southern schools with better players.

Notre Dame's a tougher job. And he has had his battles. They have not been public. But he has had his battles through the years with a very rigid administration and culture inside Notre Dame. And Brady Quinn on Fox Sports Radio, the former Notre Dame quarterback, talked about it this morning. I heard some inklings about him being frustrated at LSU missing out on Lincoln Riley and now coming after Brian Kelly. Because they had heard that Brian Kelly, you know, there was some interest from USC and Brian Kelly. And so if he was interested in USC, it's like, well, why not?

Let's let LSU up with the checkbook, see if they can give him a bigger contract and see if he'll come down. And so that all started to evolve yesterday. And as that evolved, I started to hear this like, oh, the facility, all about coaches pool for money and all this stuff. But at the end of the day, you don't leave the way he did. I mean, literally out on the road recruiting, leaving a recruits house after this news breaks and having other coaches out there who are on the road to recruiting. You don't leave in a classless way like that after becoming the all-time winning his coach, unless there's more to it.

Yeah, there is more to it. Notre Dame's hard, they're needy, they're difficult, they've got a tradition. It's not, you know, Lou Holtz left. Remember that? Lou Holtz could have stayed. Lou Holtz left. Urban Meyer turned it down. coaches Urban Meyer, by the way, is not going to Notre Dame.

He turned it down once already to go to the South and get better players. So when you leave like this, there's been battles behind the scenes. It's not a money move. He's made his money. He makes a lot of money. You start making $8 million a year, $7 million a year. You're not leaving for $8. It's just not the way you're doing.

It is a get-me-better players move. And by the way, when Tom Brady, when people, talented people leave, everybody gets transfixed with money. But Tom Brady wanted new. He wanted a new challenge. LSU's a new challenge. By the way, Kyle Hamilton is part of a podcast called Inside the Garage. He talked about the sudden move last night. At the end of the day, I understand he has to do what's best for him

and what's best for his family, what he thinks is best for his family. And, I mean, players transfer all the time. I'm not going to say whether or not I think it's a good decision or not. It's up to him. It's not for me to judge. But, I mean, I understand where he's coming from. and the situation that he's been in. He's done a lot for the program here,

done more than I think anybody expecting him to do before he got here. And that's had a big impact on where Notre Dame is now today. I mean, we have had five straight seven-time-win seasons, and that definitely does not happen without him. Notre Dame is in the best place they've been in since the legend Lou Holtz left. I mean, they're in a great spot, lots of commitments, and kids generally go to Notre Dame for something more than the coach. It's an academic power.

It's a massive brand. It's a unique experience. Notre Dame is one of those schools where the coach matters, but you go to it like Stanford. Sometimes football is a big part of it, but like half of it. If you want to go to Georgia, a lot of times it's the coach, right? Like I like my coach. I like my guy that recruits me.

But Notre Dame is different that way. And it is a tough job. Brian Kelly told me years ago. It's not a 20-year job. It's not what it is. There are just certain jobs out there that are very demanding. Many of you have jobs. They're not 25-year jobs.

You do them, you learn, you move on. Notre Dame is a great job, but taxing. And personnel, easier academic path, don't have to leave the state as much. He inherits, you don't have to rebuild LSU. He had to rebuild Notre Dame. There's no rebuild here. LSU is good enough next year to win the national championship. I don't think they have Georgia personnel,

but Georgia's losing half their defense to the NFL. LSU will be in a pool of like four of the most talented teams in the country. Notre Dame may be 8th, 12th, 15th, but don't kid yourself. This is not a rebuild. LSU is going to be fine. LSU will be better next year than this year because it's getting a better coach by far. All right. Heard hierarchy and Lincoln Riley right around the corner.
