I went and watched some sports. some streaming. And I actually sat on Twitter for about two hours. Whoa. Totally captivating. I don't do that at night because of all the players moving. There's a couple of stories that are going to break during our show today. Yesterday, Mitch Trubisky going to the Steelers, broke on our show, which I think the

Steelers are better today. There's so many benefits to Trubisky that haven't been talked about. But this is one of those days. I'm not somebody that sits on the phone all day, but the next three days, I'll be on the phone. Oh, you have to. You have to. There's so much happening. There's so much movement. And it's great for all the leagues. Great. I'm not a big believer in seeking validation. Conservatives go to Fox News. Liberals go to MSNBC. I always say, can we have something in between for me?

Just give me the information. I'll figure out what side it's on. But in America, we see this with politics and we see it in sports. People seek validation, not, you know, information. A month ago, two months ago, I was telling you that Andrew Barry, the GM of the Cleveland Browns, was exhausted by Maker Mayfield, and I was told they would look at options, though I wasn't sure they could, those would come to fruition. Mary Kay Cabot, attacked by Browns fans, a legitimate reporter for 20 years, has been reporting for multiple weeks and months. They're looking to upgrade at quarterback. Cleveland fans just want to hear happy news. Number six is our guy.

No, he's not. Two stories today. GM head coach down in Houston. It's official. Trying to woo Deshawn Watson to the Browns. Another report from Aaron Wilson at the Pro Football Network. Behind closed doors, they are making calls and seeking other veteran quarterbacks. They want to move off Baker.

Now, I don't know if they will. I don't have a problem with Cleveland going into the season with Baker. He'll be healthy. But he is limited. He is noisy. And he is a 500 quarterback through four coaches. OBJ got better when he left. Austin Hooper's production has plummeted since he arrived via Atlanta.

The GM and the coach want to upgrade at quarterback. They are making a big push today to upgrade. They're on the phone looking to upgrade. It's called standards, and you should be happy. Andrew Barry is really smart. The Rams got to a Super Bowl with golf. They upgraded. The Niners got to a Super Bowl with Garoppolo.

They're upgrading. It's called standards. In Cleveland, yours aren't typically high. This is a good move because nobody considers the Browns a Super Bowl team. Throw in Deshawn Watson. We got a discussion. we got a discussion. You hire the better chef, got a better restaurant.

It's the way it works. And a lot of people see this as attacking Baker. It's not, I've said before. He's a franchise quarterback. He's not getting at the Super Bowl, especially now that he's not on the rookie deal. You're paying him $18 million now. He's probably going to get mid-25s.

So you surrounded him with an all-star cast the last two years. He got hurt. You won a playoff game? They're not terrible. But just think about it this way. I'm not going to use the entire league. I'm just going to use the AFC, which has become the Ammo Football Conference.

Let's take the top 10 quarterbacks. Now, I put him in roughly the order, roughly not exact. I think Mahalms, Russell, Wilson, and Josh Allen are the three best. Burrow, Herbert, and Lamar are wildly dynamic. Deshawn Watson is two, but I haven't seen playing a year, then Carr, Tannahill, and Trevor Lawrence are really, really nice franchise quarterbacks. At 11, I'd probably go Mac Jones. If you're not in the top 10 in your conference at the most important position, I'm moving on. Andrew Barry, this is what I was told, this is what

Mary Kay Cabot told you. It doesn't mean it will transpire. I don't think Deshauner. I don't think DeSharmes. John Watson is going to choose Cleveland. And they'll bring Baker back and they'll be fine. He'll be healthy. They can win games. Still like the roster, although they're letting their center go, a really good one, J.C. Treter. And Jarvis Landry's leaving.

And I like him a lot too. It still remains a very, very good roster, a top 10 roster. It's not top three anymore, but it's top 10. What do you want? Validation or information? It's your call. All right. So, this is interesting.

you ever met anybody that's just kind of a BSer? We all know that person. Can't really trust him. So according to Ian Rappaport, it's official. Aaron Rogers is getting $150 million over three years, making him the highest paid quarterback at $50 million a year. Most of it guaranteed. Which is, of course, exactly what was reported by Diana Rusini

and Aaron Rogers, sort of like that vaccination opinion, said it's categorically false. Here was the report. From the conversations I've had with a lot of people in the league, he wants to be the highest paid player in the NFL by a wide margin. So we're talking about $50 million a year. That's Diana Rusini on The Rich Eisen Show, about a week two ago. And he said it's categorically false.

No, it's not. true. So when it comes to vaccinations and money, there's other stuff. But with those two, I'm going to go with what's reported, not what Aaron distorts. No more are you deciding. I'll decide. I don't believe Aaron. Here's the thing, though. When you win a Super Bowl, like the Ram, everybody gets paid. When you win a Super Bowl like the Buccaneers two years ago, everybody gets paid. Like, that's the rule, right? You're going to bring some guys back, bring the band back together. The difference is in Green Bay is

you couldn't win a playoff game and you're bringing the band back and giving everybody raises. That's why Green Bay is not a Super Bowl team. Aaron's getting a new deal. Oh, Colin, Colin, it's a lot of guaranteed money. It'll help the cap. You're going to have to, you can keep kicking that thing down the road.

It helps for a year. Devonte Adams still hasn't gotten paid. Jire Alexander, you got to pay him quick. Devondre Campbell got paid. All good players, not denying that. You can kick that thing down the road. But you're bringing the band back together, giving everybody raises, and the band shrunk on stage.

It's understood, buccaneers. Pay them, bring them back. Rams, pay OBJ, bring them back. That's always been a reality. You don't bring the band back when you do in a Super Bowl. But this band in Green Bay is clinging to old hits, needs a few new songs, and shrunk Saturday night at the Apollo. to me, you need more changes.

Couldn't score a touchdown after the opening drive against the Niners. Got to go get more players, not make a quarterback richer. So there's also a nugget by Ian Rappaport that after three years, Aaron will likely retire. He'll deny that as well. But I totally believe it. Listen, not every actor is driven by art. It'd be great if they all were. Not every actor is driven by winning an Oscar.

Some want to make money, chase girls, and be famous. That's what a lot of actors want to do. They don't care about the art. They don't care about the Oscars. They want a big house in the Hollywood Hills and a lifestyle. Not every quarterback is driven primarily by winning. Brady is. Russell Wilson is.

Peyton Manning was. Aaron, money, brand narrative. He likes to control stuff. He's going to control the stories. he's very self-conscious. He reacts to almost any negative story about him, and he wants to be the highest-paid quarterback. That matters to Aaron.

Not married, no kids, not tight with his family. It's his right. But when I look at Aaron and I look at the Green Bay Packers, you're bringing the band back together and handing out cash. You could not win a playoff game. I would make more tweaks. I mean, you, I like Zaire Alexander. I like Devante.

I like Aaron as a play. I'm not saying that. but this is usually what you do after winning the Super Bowl, not after once again being wildly disappointing losing a home playoff game in January when you have that built-in weather advantage. You were on stage, you shrunk, I'd break the band up a little. All right, a Tom Brady rumor that is tasty.

The Lakers, it just gets worse. I swear to God, it just gets worse. Every game gets worse. They trailed at one point last night, 30 to 6. At one point, they trailed 19 to 2. I think I trailed. I lost a little league game once 19 to 2. It sticks with me.

You'll never shake that off. I'm still insecure about that. Can't hit the curve at 11 years old. That's what happens. So I'm a believer in trust your eyes. Three games into the season, anybody listening on Los Angeles radio knows. Three games into the season, I said three things. They can't shoot the three. they can't defend the three. Therefore, they're not a championship team. I also said they're way too old. On the bench, they're too old.

In the starting lineup, they're too old. Old teams get hurt more. That's exactly what's happened. I actually said the Westbrook move would not help him in the playoffs, but I did think he'd be productive in the regular season. Even that hasn't worked out. I try to be positive on that one. I also have been saying for now six months,

it is a dying brand. The Rams and the Chargers, if you watch the Chargers and Free Agency, are both loaded with young dynamic stars. Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams to USC, this is a college football town too. The Dodgers excellently run. All they do is win titles and get to the postseason.

LeBron in his 19th year can't carry this mess. Jeannie Bus has too many friends in the organization. Calling Phil, Rambus, Rob Polinka, magic, stop. Get outside voices. Truth is, the Lakers are actually lucky

to be just this bad. They have not won a playoff series outside of a bubble in a decade. Last nine years, seven losing seasons. It is a dying brand. And they're actually lucky, or it would be worse. Because Paul George and Kauai, for the Clippers, they play in the same place, right?

The same arena. those guys have been hurt for two years. They've still beaten the Lakers seven straight. That team, the Clippers, has a much richer owner, a much deeper front office, and a much better roster. But because Kauai and Paul George have been hurt, I mean, again, they've still beaten the Lakers' 7th straight. Because they've been hurt, the gap isn't as dramatic. If Paul George and Kauai were healthy, they'd be a number two seed behind Phoenix in the West. The Lakers are dying.

A decade, a debacle, nine years. or seven losing seasons. They're the only team that truly benefited from a pandemic. Their old guys got four months in season rest. And I was saying this to the staff this morning. If you put, and I'm not saying these are the 10 biggest brands in sports, but this morning I went out and I put the 10, I kind of tried to give every sport some love. So I said, here are like the 10 to 12 biggest brands currently in sports.

College football, Notre Dame, college basketball, Kentucky, and Duke. NFL, Cowboys, Packers, Steelers, 49ers, baseball, Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, NBA, Celtics, Lakers. One is a flaming dumpster fire, the Lakers. Everybody else is winning or viable? Duke probably shouldn't be a top seed. What are they, a two seed? Probably should be about a four. Shishovsky's last year, viable.

Kentucky's a two seed. Maybe they should be a three, lost twice to Tennessee. But viable. Good team. certainly good enough to get to the final four. All four of those NFL brands. Say what you want about the Steelers. Mike Tomlin's never had a losing season.

They're paying Mitch Trubisky and nickel. That's going to be a good roster. His Pittsburgh team's going to be undervalued all year. They're paying Trubisky, what, $7 million a year? I think Aaron Rogers is paying his caddy in Milwaukee that. So this is a dying brand. There's almost no way out, a weak front office, too many friends in the building,

and last night, they trailed the Raptors at one point, 30 to 6. LeBron, who's always been fair with the media, always talks to the media, always available to the media, he shut it down last night. That's how bad it is. Joy with the News. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.

This is the Herdline News. Well, another team in that list, the Cowboys and defensive ends, and Marcus Lawrence have reportedly agreed to a new three-year, $40 million. deal that fully guarantees him $30 million. So this makes Lawrence the NFL's first defensive end to have his contract fully guaranteed for seven consecutive seasons.

So when the contract is up in three years, Lawrence will have made more than $130 million in cash. And good for him. He earned a five-year, $105 million extension in April of 2019 after back-to-back provable seasons. He has a total of 14 and a half sacks, 33 quarterback hits and 26 tackles for loss in the last three seasons. He only played seven games last year because of a broken foot in the practice the week after the opener. So last season, he only had three sacks, 16 solo

tackles, tackle, tackles, for loss. But he is a great player and a big part of this organization. So I'm glad that they brought him back. I think that the defense is taking a massive step up. Yes. The offense, though, so Cedric Wilson's gone. Yeah. The offense is getting picked apart. Amari Cooper is gone. Alile Collins, the right tackle is going to be gone. And Tyron Smith, who's going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer, does not give you 17 games anymore. So you could have, in many Sundays, you're missing two of your top three wide receivers, because I don't know what you're getting with Michael Gallup. They paid him a lot. He's very talented. I didn't think he was worth a ton. Cowboys have a lot of faith in him. He's a

burner, not a great route runner, but a burner. But Cedric Wilson out, Amari out, Collins's out. So Dallas's defense is no question better, but we all know what this league is. Ammo. They're not as good offensively this morning as they were at the end of the year. Well, maybe they have some moves up their sleeves. They've drafted fairly well.

They've been in a pretty good draft team. I just think this is going to be an interesting year for the Cowboys, particularly for Mike McCarthy. Also, Washington's better today. Philadelphia is still in the show. on Watson's sweepstakes. So Giants are still a mess. Giants have a mess.

They have a new coach, so maybe they get a bump from that. It's not going to be the same division that it was last year. So Russell Wilson was recently traded to the Broncos, but according to Peter King, Denver might not have been his only choice for a trade move in his most recent football morning in America column. King said as Wilson's side considered which team he wanted to play for, it considered 14 different teams with scores of factors for each roster depth, cap condition, trust, GM slash coach development of the quarterback, season ticket, and fan base, everything. Denver finished

either near the top in that 14 team contest. As they should. So I like their GM a lot. Denver's only knock. They don't have an owner. You don't know who's going to own the team. That's the only thing I don't like about them. That's it. That's a really deep list of teams. 14? Well, I think I think we would both admit that Russell is obsessed and very smart. He's a very thorough, yes. He's a very thorough guy.

Brady, remember, Brady had all the bag. He had all the rings. For Tom, it was just like, I want some control and weapons. His list was clear. But I think with Russell, he also knows he's moving right now next five, six years. These are his prime years.

So I think he did have to consider more. still think Denver's the right place. Aaron Rogers wanting to stay in Green Bay benefits Russell. Russell was probably concerned Aaron would take the job. I think, I think, listen, Tom Brady chose, it was down to the, I was told Tom Brady's decision was buccaneers or chargers. What do they have in common? Good GMs, lots of weapons.

So Tom was telling you what matters to him. Russell's telling you what matters. General manager, offensive coach, weapons. So the things he doesn't have in Seattle, he's not selecting this team for control. He had some control in Seattle. So Tom wanted more control. Because Bruce Ariens was going to let him, Briar and Lefich. But I also think that when it comes down to control, you only want control if you think things aren't being run well.

That's right. That's exactly right. Like if you think everything is being run well and everyone's doing their job to the best of their capability and everyone's on the same page, you don't need to meddle in anyone else's job. I was talking a year ago with Jason Garrett, the former cowboy coach, who knows George Payton really, really well. They were together, I think, in Miami. They used to play pickup basketball every day at lunch.

And I asked Jason about him, and he's like rock star, like just personnel savant. So listen, I think, and I agree with you, I don't need control if I trust the people above me. Right. Just let me do my show. That's the ideal situation, is you just come and do your job?

And you trust everyone around you to do theirs. I think Brady trusted New England for about 17 years. Yeah. I think in the last two to three, he looked around the league and went, we can't draft receivers. I do think Tom in the end lost that trust. I think Russell trusted Seattle, you know. Yeah, I think similarly Russell was always go Hawks. That's it.

He was the ultimate franchise guy. And Pete Carroll out of college, first four or five drafts were fantastic. I think both Tom and Russell in the end went, I'm looking at Kansas. City in Buffalo and Tampa and these. I think they aged away from each other in both situations. And then it just came down to, I still have stuff to give and you are not trending

in my direction. So we have to make a drastic move. So the Jags have been busy going into free agency. Weird. They are planning on signing wide receivers Zay Jones, guard, Brandon Shurf, and Titan Evan Ingram. They also have plans to sign Christian Kirk. According to reports, his deal will be

four years worth between 72 and 84 million. He'll make 72. So let's start with this. He's got some bonus stuff to get him to 84. He's a two. Now, in Jacksonville, they're going to try to make him a one. Historically, when you try to take a two receiver in the free agency and say be a one, they're twos. So he's not going to hit those bonuses. So his contract sounds bigger than it is. He's going to make about 70, 72 million. Now, is that about 10 million more over three or four years than I want? Yeah. But 72 for four years for a team in desperate need of receivers isn't, isn't, it's more than I would pay because he is a two,

but it's not, it doesn't sound as bad as the initial report. It's, I actually think it sounds a lot worse than it is. Christian Kirk is a very solid receiver. You have a young quarterback who needs, they were going to draft two. I was told they were going to go heavy into wide receiver in the draft. Well, they still should. But now you have a guy, you know you can trust. Yeah.

So if you put some younger pieces around him and don't make all of the. volume carry be on him. That's right. Just because of his contract, then it's fine. I agree with you. Don't try and put players into something else just because you paid them a certain amount of money. That's where you start to get in trouble with things. Christian Kirk's a good solid.

He'll give you about 15 to 17 games. You're going to get 64 catches and you're probably going to get three to four touchdowns. That's a very solid two in the league. Two to a great three or a really solid two. One final notes. Shefter just tweeted four-time Pro Bowl and Super Bowl champion. left tackle Andrew Whitworth, 2021, Walter Payton Man of the Year has announced his retirement. Okay, so Rams, they do have a, they have a guy in the roster.

They're ready, they just re-signed. This was not of expected. Yeah, they just re-signed Joe No, boom, their left tackle. So they just resigned him two days ago. He did a nice job. No, he's fine. He's fine. He's an adequate, solid left tackle. Well, you want at least that moving on from Whitworth.

He's been on the roster for, I think, three years. So three to four years. So he knows their system. him, he knows McVeigh, everybody in the room likes him. He's a, it's his job. He'll be fine. Yes, well, congrats, Big Whit, made in career. Joy with the news.

Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Lie News. I want to talk Trubisky. You know, you guys, you're just crushing Trabisky. So I want to talk about this. I was watching last, I watched a lot of TV yesterday. I was just sitting on my phone, so I couldn't do anything because I sat on my phone for all the

free agent stuff. And I watched the Uber cab. you know, thing. The documentary? The documentary. Well, no, it's a, it's got Levitt, that actor, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Elizabeth Shoe. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

So Uber's fascinating. So they were talking about the birth of Uber and how they had to fight in San Francisco with the cab companies. So anytime there's something new, I just started a company a year ago. There's always things you didn't. see that are going to be a problem. You can't predict everything. And unintended benefits. So when

they created Uber, one of the things nobody really thought about was DUIs have plummeted in America. People just call Uber. So like when they were sitting there and investing, that wasn't the first thing they were, hey, forget the money. DUI are going to plummet. Investors probably don't care that much about that. But it was an unintended benefit of Uber. A, Another unintended benefit is that now when you're at a restaurant, you'll have a second bottle of wine. It's been great for restaurants in America. Restaurants, the good ones, or I have two or three restaurant friends who own alcohol sales have gone way up in restaurants. Because people can have a second bottle. Uber at home, don't have to worry about it.

Unintended benefits. Restaurants have benefited. DUIs have plummeted. Now, it's been bad for people that own parking garages. I don't know anybody that owns a parking garage, but for years and years, that was one of the safest investments in the world. Own a parking garage, especially by a stadium. Yeah, people are just Ubering to stuff now. Parking garages aren't the investment they used to be. So, again, I don't know anybody that owns a parking garage, but that's not good for people. They've turned those into buildings and built buildings on those spaces.

So the Mitch Tribisky thing, he goes to the Steelers. and there's a lot of things here that Pittsburgh benefits from that nobody's talking about. The first of all, we all, everybody that I believe in the NFL I trust, he's an upgrade over Mason Rudolph. He's a more athletic version of Mason Rudolph. And at this point, he's a more athletic version of Big Ben. So what you're going to be able to do with him is move the pocket much more with Mitch Trubisky than you could with Old Big Ben. I mean, Big Ben, multiple pieces of video, him just fall in. down. It's like an old house at the end. Just

dilap it just fell down. Mason Rudolph can't move. So now you're going to benefit your offensive coordinator who's going to be able to move the pocket much more with Trubisky. He's very athletic. The second thing is he's really well liked. He was well liked in college. He was well liked in

Chicago. They loved him in Buffalo. Big Ben wasn't. Big Ben split locker rooms. Not everybody's a big man fan in Pittsburgh. He wore out a lot of people. Front office, coaches, the legendary battle with him and Todd, what's his name, the OC, he fought. Yeah, Todd Haley. Like Big Ben fought with a lot of people.

Mitch fights with nobody. It's going to be a more peaceful locker room, less noise in the locker room. You'll be able to move the pocket with Mitch. He's a benefit to an offensive coordinator. The other thing is he spent a year with Brian Dable in Buffalo, who's, you know, great. So you're probably getting the best. version of Mitch Trubisky.

You're going to get a little better version than the Chicago version. And the other thing is, and nobody's discussing this, they got him for free. They're paying him nothing. Nothing. Therefore, you can go get another corner. You can go make trades at the trading deadline. This is a really good. It's cheaper than Big Ben.

God, at this point, I'm not sure if he's cost any more than Mason Rudolph, not much. So there's a lot of this unintended stuff. You don't really think about when you get him. If I was an offensive coordinator for the Steelers, I can move the pocket all over the place. That's the advantage. Kyle Shanahan liked Trey Lance and San Francisco went Trey Lance over Mack Jones. Why? Because if you watch the league now, Stafford and Gough, Stafford's better moving than Gough was.

Doesn't mean you need Kyler Murray. But Denver, Nathaniel Hackett now is going to be able to move that pocket with Russell Wilson. like another semi playbook. Can't do that with Brady. Can't do that with golf. You're not going to do that with a lot of these guys. So Pittsburgh's offense is going to have another dimension to it.

He's cheap. He's really well liked. He'll bring the temperature down in the room. He doesn't have a great arm. He doesn't push the ball down the field. There's absolute limitations. The other thing is Chicago's the windiest city in America. So those November and December games at Soldier Field, Mitch Trubisky, the ball just died.

Justin Fields has a big arm. Justin Fields is fine. Aaron's got a big arm. If you play in a northern division, generally, especially Chicago, he's going to play. I know you don't think Pittsburgh is a great weather city. It's better than Chicago. So there's a lot of these benefits for Tribeschi that nobody's talking about. We don't think he's great, but he's cheap. He's athletic. People love him in the room. You'll be able to move the pocket. There's a lot of stuff here if I'm an offensive coordinator that I like. By the way,

whereas with Big Ben, if you're, a coordinator of the Steelers, you could suggest things, and Big Ben would just not listen to him. Trabisky's going to do anything they want. He's going to open up the playbook. Anything that coordinator says, hey, let's do this. Trabiski's not in a situation. He's the luckiest guy in the world. He just inherited the Steelers defense.

He just inherited a Hall of Fame coach. Great receivers, an amazing young, tight end. You think he's going to push back on stuff? Any suggestion. So the coordinator for Pittsburgh, who I don't love necessarily, but he's going to be able to offer and create things he could never think of with old rickety big Ben. Well, Peter Schrager was the first to break it this morning. the Atlanta Falcons are officially in the Deshawn Watson sweepstakes. Now, they could give Houston for a year, Matt Ryan's contract, which is not a bad guy for Davis Mills, the young kid to learn from. So Shreger now Fox Sports joins us live.

So you were the first on the Atlanta story. And by the way, he's from that area. So I always thought Carolina was the leader because he's an ACCC legend in the Panthers' footprint. But Atlanta makes as much sense to me. So you tell me the latest on Deshaun. Yeah, look, it goes down like this. New Orleans and Carolina emerged as the leaders in this thing. And I'm talking to you now from my bunker.

If you're watching on FS1, I've got all my free agent notes behind me. Atlanta and Carolina were the leaders. Then Cleveland came in, but there was always going to be a wildcard team. And I had heard that for weeks. Like there's a wildcard team no one's talking about. And it is the Atlanta Falcons who will be meeting with Deshawn Watson tomorrow. Now, they do have Matt Ryan in their roster. There's a million questions you can have about that.

But they're taking the meeting. Seattle, from what John McLean of the Houston Chronicles, is now out of the running, and it might be from the Houston side, it might be from the Seattle side, but that is not an option. And Indianapolis, who expressed interest, the Texans have decided that they will not be trading Deshawn Watson within the division. Now, if Atlanta were to somehow pull this off, not only do they get Deshawn Watson and then now have, you know, Deshawn Watson, a Atlanta superstar southeast, you know, the center of the southeast is in Atlanta, and, of course, a hometown kid. It would also be a net loss for Carolina who would still be lost

at quarterback and New Orleans who still be lost at quarterback. It's almost like a zero-sum game. Not only do you not get him, but we would add them. And that would be a major coup for Atlanta. And Arthur Smith, who's due to as a quarterback guru who got the best out of Ryan Tannenholy. He got his hands on him. I got to be honest with you, Shraig, if I'm Deshaun Watson and he has a no trade clause, I think Atlanta is my choice.

I get an emerging star at tight end. I get a very solid owner in Arthur Blank. He's been a very solid owner. Tends to be patient on coaches. keeps a coach about a year longer than the fans want. The O-line's not great, but Deshaun, to his credit, can mitigate some of those. Boy, that's an interesting one. It's my hometown.

By the way, nothing against Carolina. Atlanta is the biggest city in the South. Delta, Coca-Cola. Like, there's the endorsement opportunities in Atlanta are much greater than Carolina. That is, I would, if I'm Deshaun, that's where I want to go. Well, it's been since Michael Vick since they've had a superstar like that. You know, Julio was a superstar, sure. And we can go through Trey Young and Dominique Wilkins and Freddie Freeman and whoever else.

But like, Deshaun Watson came to Atlanta and brought Atlanta to the playoffs. And Atlanta was a Super Bowl. This would be a whole of the thing because he's the hometown kid. And I'll also add this. Like, you know, the Clemson ties to the Panthers are kind of real. Like they're in the Carolinas and he's a Clems guy. But you talk about Atlanta and Deshawn Watson. That's a whole other deal.

Yep. It just feels bigger. You and I saying it, it feels bigger. Okay, Russell Wilson, what is his impact, going to the Broncos? What is his impact on the rest of the offseason? Yeah. So it's funny because they sign, they make this trade for Russell Wilson. Everyone's looking at the compensation for it.

But I came out right away and said when Peyton Manning was traded or signed with the Broncos, it wasn't just Peyton Manning that came with him. He immediately got Wes Welker when the contract to go. negotiations went awry with the Patriots. And then the presence of Peyton Manning helped bring DeMarcus Ware. It helped bring Akeeb Talib. It helped bring Emmanuel Sanders. They added veterans who were like, oh, Peyton Manning's there. That's a place I can win. I can tell you last night that a player that might not be a household name, DJ Jones, who's a big defensive tackle for the 49ers, free agent, young, and in his first big contract negotiation, multiple teams were

in on him. And he chose Denver because it gives him the best chance to win. And like, that's the Today, Randy Gregory, a far different situation because Gregory has been suspended and reinstated. It's suspended and reinstated and there was contract language. But even still, Randy Gregory originally was agreed upon with the Cowboys, but has now backed out. And now it's going to go to the Broncos. And one of the main reasons there is because you go to the Broncos, you might be closer to winning than you go to the Cowboys. And Russell Wilson is real. So the Russell Wilson effect, it's the same thing as the Peyton Manning effect.

It's the same thing as the Tom Brady effect. And last year, Matthew Stafford joining the Rams. Like, I don't know if Odell's dying to go to L.A. with Jared Gauphin quarterback. No, that's right. I don't know if Vaughn Miller's beaten down the doors to be traded to the Rams with Jared Gauphette quarterback. So it's real and it's not tangible in the compensation.

But when you talk about attracting other free agents, Russell Wilson will bring those guys. Yeah. Boy, that is such a great point. That was the LeBron effect. Like Shane Badiere, Ray Allen, guys that take a little less because they want to win. And listen, once you get a 50, you know, once you, once you, made some money. You want to win games. It's a miserable place to play if you're 7 and 10. That's how you get white chocolate to go down to the heat. You do that. You get LeBron, and that's how

you make it happen. All right. Aaron Rogers' contract. What are you hearing big pictures for Green Bay? All right. You want to go really into the weeds here. So last week, Ian Rappport from the NFL network announces 50 million a year, 200. And Rogers tweets for the first time since January. Like, those numbers are not right. And I think a lot of that was because he wanted the world to know like I am not gobbling up all this money so that my guys can't get paid. Truth Matter is comes out today and he is getting $150 million guaranteed. So it's not like he's taking some great discount, but what they did was they completely front-loaded the guaranteed money and then the salary cap number is only going to be $18 million.

So yes, he is going to get paid, but the way they structured this thing. Yeah. They did create space for not only Devante Adams, but hopefully Jaira Alexander as, as well. Now, this isn't just magic and illusion and the salary cap's not real. At some point, they're going to have to pay the Piper. But with Rogers being so year to year, basically like, we're all in on 2022. We'll deal with it in 2023 and beyond when we have to get there. If Rogers is even here, we don't know. But in this case, it's completely managed so that they have salary cap money for this year. And then there's hell to pay in years to come. But they're almost like,

we'll cross that bridge when we get there. And if the salary cap goes up and up and up, there's less hell to pay, and they assume that the NFL is going to keep on making money. And as we saw from those media deals, that assumption is probably right. Yeah. Yeah, I think I looked at his contract this morning. It'd be $41 million annually in three years, which is not a discount and won't be then, but it's not as punitive. The salary cap goes up about $10 million a year.

That's the average. So there are rumors Brady and the Niners from an executive that said, basically he wanted to go from Tampa to San Francisco. it wasn't going to work. Do you buy the rumors? I don't. I think he's a buccaneer. I do think there's some things that have to be figured out.

And I'm not trying to make news here, but I'll tell you, things ended a little differently the second year with Bruce Ariens and it did the first year. They just had to have a conversation probably and figure it out. But like Ariens is, hey, Tommy's the man, all this stuff. Like, that was great in year one.

And there was this great charismatic feel. But like year two, it felt like maybe Brayorian, Brady was with some injured players and some things going on with the team and Antonio Brown. Like Brady didn't seem as happy as he did in year one. And I'm not sure if that's because of the coach or just a situation, but he retires. And then now he comes back. But I can't imagine that there is just simply going to be, here's what it is. It's the same thing as we have, but we have less players and less chance to win.

So I'd be curious to see what the coaching staff looks like if they add some guys, if they make some moves. Because Brady didn't come back to finish 10 and 7 and losing the wild card round. Brady's coming back for blood and he's going to want to win. My last point here is they lost two key players. Alex Capo and Allie Mark Pet, two offensive guards. You might not say that's huge. But when you add that to also going to be losing a lot of free agents over the next few days, it's not the same roster.

So Brady does come back, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as happy Brady. Let's go. I think there's going to have to be some changes or some player additions or maybe even some coaching moves. All right, Shregs broke the story on Atlanta and Deshawn Watson, which feels big to me. If I'm Deshawn, no trade clause, that feels big. I got a star at tight end, a very good owner, an offensive coach known for quarterback development. Boy, that's interesting. Shragge's all you do is give us insight and gold bars.

Everything else is off Atlanta. That's where SEC graduates go. They go live in Atlanta for the jobs. Atlanta is the home of Delta.

It's the home of Coke Fortune 500. It's also a huge production hub as well now. Any production that doesn't go on in Los Angeles goes on in Atlanta. Do you guys, did you just hear this, this Russell Wilson thing? The fact that the Broncos went and got D.J. Jones, do you realize he was from the Niners. He was second in the NFL among interior defensive linemen tackles for losses. I bet Aaron Donald was one, I would guess. He was second in the league. That is a huge pickup for Den. I'm telling you that George Payton guy, let's get him on the show. Ryan, let's work on that.

Hockey scores the next day. That is a big pickup. He had the best run-stop percentage in the NFL for interior lineman. DJ Jones is a dog. He is a good player. Wow. That is a big pickup.
