Funny guy is going to stop by our show today. I really like to Sean Jackson. Nick Wright next hour, top of it. I was going to start the show today. And it was kind of negative, so I inserted a positive story as our second story. Because yesterday, I kind of brought the hammer. And that's not who I am. It's just out of character for you, for sure.

By the way, I dropped something in your dressing room before the show, a major surprise. Someone sent it to me. I don't know if it's a fan or not, but I think you'll like it. So just something to look forward. Well, let's scurry through this first segment so I can go check it out. So sources this morning, star receiver, C, D. Lamb says, I'm not showing up the cowboy camp. Go

ahead and find me. I think because of their scarcity of weapons, they just don't have much offensively right now. He's going to get his money in a new contract. And then I think by the end of the year, they'll pony up the Brinks truck for Micah and DAC.

Listen, the last eight seasons have been pretty good for the Cowboys. Pretty good. Better than most. Four division titles. five playoff appearances. A couple playoff wins in eight years isn't enough. But I think this season marks the slow, steady decline of the Cowboys.

And you thought you'd seen the worst of it. Dak, in his prime still probably late prime will keep you relevant. He's a B plus quarterback. But they are going to, and it'll start with C.D. Lam's contract, get absurdly top-heavy. It's why they couldn't spend any money. They're too top heavy now and free agency. There's two factors that really play into this steady decline. The NFC was weak and wide open for the last several years,

and they couldn't take advantage of it. Now San Francisco, Detroit, and Philadelphia are loaded, have much better rosters than the Cowboys. The Rams and the Packers have much better young talent. Atlanta, with Kirk Cousins, more good players offensively in an office. Offensive League, the Dallas, and watch out because Chicago and Washington could both have star young quarterbacks on rookie contracts for the next four years is DAC is making Mahomes money and limiting the cowboys. I looked at their schedule this morning.

There are four games they should be heavily favored. The Giants twice. Yeah, New Orleans and Carolina. Probably favored over Tampa, too, but it's close. Outside of that, every other. game is a coin flip and very loseable and in most instances in this offensive league

the teams they play have more good weapons this is what happens when an 80 year old man Jerry Jones 81 year old man Jerry Jones sees himself as the general manager and because he is front and center he is leaned on very vanilla coaching

Parcells and Jimmy Johnson worked and they're gone it's been Jason Garrett it's been Mike McCarthy, both capable, but in situational football moments, did you trust either? So the schedule is tough. They're going to get absurdly top-heavy. CD Lamb probably wins this holdout. Their draft was graded as average.

They're clearly rebuilding the offensive line. I'd call it uninspiring, and they didn't spend a nickel in free agency. This, to me, marks the beginning of a slow, step. decline for Dax big money years and I presume he'll sign a four-year deal in the Patrick Mahomes range.

Mark Sanchez yesterday sees the same issues. Think about the difference between maybe Dak and the Cowboys his rookie year and the talent he had around him, the other explosive players.

Who's going to help this team elevate suddenly and where are the weapons? Who am I throw into? Who's keeping the defensive coordinators up at night like, ding? What are we going to do about this guy? And that's, you know, those are tough questions to ask going into a season. You want to have those things shirt up. So I think the lack of depth is going to be

tough, and this is going to be a lot on Dax plate. Now some positive stories. Aaron Rogers poking the media showed up yesterday to camp wearing an Egyptian cat t-shirt. That's where

he spent his time as he missed OTAs. Many of you think I root against Aaron Rogers, but I'll give you a little behind the rope truth. Because of the battle we're going to have between Trump,

J.D. Vance, and Kamala Harris, and whoever her VP pick is, Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN are going to have huge ratings in September, October, and November. That won't be good for me, or ESPN, or anybody hosting. hosting a sports talk show.

So what do we need to survive until early November? We'll be fine in mid to late November, December, January, February. People will be exhausted by political talk. But up to the election, massive record-breaking numbers. Record-breaking, the Republican National Convention. Think about the history of Fox News. Shattered records. And we're still months away.

There are four stories that can go a long way in keeping our little telecasts interesting. Number one, Caleb Williams hits in Chicago. Major market, iconic brand. He looks a little like Mahomes. Suddenly they're scoring points. And for the first time in all of our lives, Chicago is a dynamic offense with the next Patrick Mahomes. I think it's possible.

He'll make rookie mistakes. But Cole Comette, Keenan Allen, Roma Dunzee, DJ Moore, DeAndre Swift, a better-than-you-think offensive line. Not a great defense in that division with Minnesota, Green Bay, or Detroit? It's possible. Is it probable? That would help us. Number two. Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers with Justin Herbert start quickly.

That's probable. The NFL did Jim Harbaugh solid. They opened with the Raiders in Carolina, arguably. the two worst teams in the league. If you look at their schedule, a six-and-one start is not out of the realm of possibility. Again, big market, star coach, quiet but a star quarterback. That would help us. The third story that would probably do us some favors, the Dallas Cowboys implode.

I mean, it beats them being pretty good again. Mike McCarthy blows a couple of early games with situational clock management snafus. Dack is fine, but maybe the holdout, a lot of noise. They lose a game they should win, and Dallas is rolling downhill. That probably for us is very, very good content. And number four, Aaron Rogers chest out, mocking the media, crushes. He beats Josh Allen in the first encounter. The NFL schedule is a lot of Aaron, and whether it's talking to Joe Rogan, it's talking to his friends, he's a little cocky, a little aloof, but he has got his chest out, he's playing great, the offensive line comes together, Mike Williams' talented, stays healthy,

and you look up and the New York Jets are six and one through seven weeks heading into late October and early November. If those four things happen and if you look at the schedule, they're all very probable, then we've got ourselves a fighting chance.

A fighting chance. This will be probably the most challenging September and October ever. I should also throw out something else. USC beats LSU and Michigan is rolling and the big

10 is on their heels, fight on Trojans, going downhill, and the polarizing Lincoln Riley is dropping 42 a game against the Big 10. Okay, that may not happen, but that'd be a nice one too. But just to let you know, what I predict and what I'd love to see happen are two different things. Aaron winning, pointing fingers, attacking the media, making fun of us. Are you kidding me? You think it's good if he gets hurt again?

That's what I want? You think it's good if they start one and six and nobody cares about this entire market of New York? I want a New York team to win, and the Giants have no shot. So let's cross our fingers and hope the one team that has a shot can win. J-Mack, how about that? is a positive, optimistic, glass-half-full vibe to start the show. I love that segment.

And I think you missed a couple. I mean, Kansas City Chiefs going for a historic three-peat versus the Chiefs perhaps imploding. I mean, their offensive line has a lot of questions. Brock Purdy and the 49ers, they're billing this as the last dance, if you will. Ask yourself this. Like, there's a lot of things. Couldn't we argue the single, the two things that would be great for our business, the Jets go to San Francisco and beat the Niners soundly, and Caleb Williams has four touchdowns against Tennessee?

And all of a sudden, it's like, we have our next Mahomes. And Aaron Rogers is on top of the world. Those two things. And I'll say this. Ratings matter to us. This is what we do. It's our livelihood. We sit in meetings all day trying to figure out what you want to talk about, what you are interested in.

So Harbaugh, Rogers, Caleb Williams, Cowboy implosion. Now those are all wins for us. Yeah. No, I got kind of excited just thinking about the season. Is it start next week? We wish. but it smashed their all-time records, destroyed them. They played before the WNBA All-Star team and the USA Olympic team. They played before, and nobody watched. And this time, they smashed records. Proving once again that Caitlin Clark is driving revenue for the league and should be now on the Olympic team. But she's not. I'll get to that in a second.

What's interesting, though, is with the Paris Olympics starting Wednesday, the league is now on hiatus until August 15th. So the WNBA's not playing, meaning Caitlin's not playing. And the Olympics will be playing, but Caitlin's not part of that. I would suggest if the league wasn't as tribal and petty, that not only Caitlin Clark, but Angel Reese, clearly both should have been put on the Olympic team. Did you watch the WNBA All-Stars that had Reese and Caitlin Clark against the Olympians? Angel Reese got a double-double in 18 minutes. She's been fantastic, overshadowed by Clark.

And Caitlin Clark led everybody in assists. Both could be near the end of the bench, and you'd watch two rivals now playing together. friends or at least colleagues on the same floor fighting for the same Olympic gold. In a tribal divided world, especially with what the Olympics can bring, uniting all of us, we get very little of that. Wouldn't that be cool? Nah, let's just wait for more years. We've talked about Caitlin Clark being on the Olympic team.

But why not Angel Reese? She's been phenomenal. They're just different players. In 18 minutes. she had 12 points and 11 rebounds against the Olympic team I don't care what league you're in that's phenomenal and I've said this I don't want Caitlin Clark to win we got magic bird here that's what we should have Caitlin wins here Angel wins there

maybe Angels team is better Caitlin wins so more a personal awards but eventually Caitlin's team gets good and then people recognize how great angel Reese is so no Angel or Caitlin Clark for the next month as football camps open up. The WNBA will now disappear, but women's basketball doesn't need to.

If they had Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, even back of the bench, both playing together for the first time on the Olympic team. You keep telling me these amazingly talented young women aren't ready for it. I'll say it again. Women's basketball's not quite ready on how to handle Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Here's Jay Mack with a news.

No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's get back to positive news. Matt Stafford and the Rams, he showed up at camp with an adjusted contract. I don't know if you saw this, but earlier this year, McVeigh said Stafford was looking for more guaranteed money in his deal. McVeigh weirdly did not go into the numbers of what the adjusted contract was, but he did say that it did not include an extension.

Very weird talking points here from the Rams. Well, they also made a couple roster moves with Tyler Higby. What's going on there? I wonder if it's a contract thing to save some money, to give out some money. The bottom line is they want Stafford. Don't be surprised, by the way, and this is not a shot at Stafford. their roster now is pretty set. They probably need to draft a tackle

and another receiver next year. Don't be surprised if their first pick late first rounds of quarterback. Well, I'm surprised they didn't do that this year. Well, because they're going to give Matt Stafford two more years to win a Super Bowl. Well, I mean, they took a quarterback last year, Stets and Bennett. But that's a middle of the market

in an average quarterback here. He's never going to play. They're going to go big game hunting quarterback this next draft. Because their roster now, with all their defensive draft picks in the top the last two years is set. They're very young, very inexpensive, very talented.

They do need his Cooper Cup ages. They got to get another receiver. They're set everywhere now. The old line's good. Puka can't slide into the number one year. That's one. You gotta have four, so they need more. And they have to go get a tackle.

Is Havenstein right tackles great, but he's getting old. But their draft next year, they've only got a couple of needs. Tackle, receiver, maybe another corner. They're going to go get a quarterback. But what they want to do is give for the next two years, Stafford a chance to win a Super Bowl because they think they can and I don't think they're wrong. You think they're in the bubble? Absolutely. They're in that Baltimore, San Francisco Philly bubble. Absolutely. And the number one issue is Stafford holding up obviously. When he was injured. That's why, by the way, if you notice what they did in the last two years, they've spent money on guards, nobody's getting to Stafford's feet. So what they've really smartly done as he's aged is they paid for guards. They drafted. Now they've got a center who's a stud. So they've really done it the right way as he's aged.

like Brady and Tampa. Brady had a great guard-center guard combo and capable tackles. That's what Stafford has. That's what Russell Wilson didn't in Denver. Aaron didn't in New York. And they, you know, regress. They don't play as well. So they are set up.

They just want to get Stafford in for two Super Bowl runs. And then my guess is that third year, Stafford may be number one, but they've got a in-camp rookie second-year quarterback ready to roll. But I think they're going to go big game hunting on quarterback next year. I am interested the pivot that they made. Remember, it was forget about draft picks. Screw the picks.

We don't need them. We got top heavy, hot top end talent. And now they've kind of pivoted back to, oh, we need picks. We need to refurbish the roster. Well, that's what they've done the last two years. I think it's pretty impressive and quick on the fly. Like, they're doing it quickly, still competing, as you say. Well, they knew two years ago that Aaron Donald May retired.

So if you look at their top two picks the last couple of years, it's been defensive tackles and edge rushers, and they've hit, I believe they've hit on all of them. I think there are two rookies this year from Florida State are going to be sensational. So they'll have more sacks this year than last year. They'll miss Aaron Donald, but they have spent two years knowing, preparing for Aaron jettisoning the league. Offense is probably still like a top five, top seven unit. Absolutely.

I mean, they're putting up. Didn't they play Baltimore last year tougher than anybody? Had them, when Baltimore was crushing San Francisco, blowing out Detroit, hammering Miami. they went to Baltimore cross-country and had them beat late. Outplayed them. If you go to overtime, a punt return or something wacky? I think it did. But they outplayed them.

So this team is they draft well, they develop well, A-plus coach, a quarterback. I think they're a Super Bowl bubble team. Yeah. Okay. All right. Let's go to a non-super Bowl bubble team, the Denver Broncos. Weirdly, they have not yet settled on their starting QB. They drafted Bo Nix.

They brought in Zach Wilson, and they kept Jarrett Stee. them, they're all competing for the top spot. And Sean Payton said they're still figuring out who will be QB1 for week one. We'll mix it up again. Obviously, it won't stay that way for the long term. But as we get started, we'll keep you posted and eventually we'll settle into the routine we want. I'm not going to sit here and lay out. Like, here's how it goes, because I think the mistake made is deciding how it goes. We'll see a rotation initially

and then and then we'll move on from there. Very excited. They are my Rams of last year. PFF has them the worst roster in the league. No way. No way. Carolina, the Giants. Carolina got a lot better.

The Saints. We're not going to go there now. Let me ask, do you think that he knows who his quarterback is for week one or not yet? Yes, yes. You think it's Knicks? There's a loss. Yes, yeah. It would be a tough sell to the fan base to draft Nix and then start Zach Wilson week one. I think that would be very awkward. Stidham's been in the offense longer than Wilson has, right? Stimms was here last year. Zach Wilson blows people away at practice.

Justin Fields blows people away in practice. Live games, I'm going to go with Bow Nix. And I don't think their rosters nearly as bad as people. I think they have an elite left tackle, an elite receiver, an elite coach, an elite guard, an elite corner. Well, hold on, hold on. I'm looking at the elite safety. So they're number one receivers, Cortland Sutton. He's not a number one. He's a two.

No, he's a very good player. Mims, the excellent number two. Two excellent receivers. Got Jerry Judy out of the way. He was... I can't believe you don't like him. Javante Williams is a nice running back. Offensive line had some holes.

A question at center, left guard. McGlinchie kind of underperformed last year. you're coming over for Sanfran? They're not great at left guard. I think they'll overcome that. And then Patrick Sertan, very good cornerback elite. They have a nice safety.

He's not as good as soft guard. They've got a great safety, active, young linebackers, semi-young linebacker. We'll see. They need an edge rusher. You know, I was going to float to the staff. I probably should have done this off air. You know how we did a quarterback draft?

We should do an over-under-bets draft where you get like your favorite bet. Oh, I like that. And then I get my favorite over-under. Because it sounds like you're talking yourself into the Broncos over. Oh, I've already made the bet. Done. Already made the bet.

I think there. I think Minnesota and Denver are my Rams last year. And my Minnesota, two years ago I took Minnesota over. I was right. Last year I took the Rams and I was right. I think Denver and Minnesota are both my overs. This whole five and a half wins. Sean Payton can't go seven and ten.

Give me a break. The Raiders are two Ws right there. Oh. You can't find seven wins in that? Listen, you better get that win against Seattle. Let me. Just for our radio audience, I'll be optimistic, Colin. Sean Payton out duels a rookie staff in Gino in week one and they win.

It's going on the road in hostile Seattle in week one and winning? Against the rookie coach. By the way, Pittsburgh at home. If you go to the history of Denver and high altitude at home in September, one of the best teams. But that's a Russell Wilson revenge game. And they get the Raiders Week 5, the Saints, the Panthers. They get a buy before Anthony Richardson, who we hope is healthy. I mean, again, they face a lot of teams here.

Atlanta at home, Steelers at home, Tampa, Carolina at home. So you think maybe they eclips the win total before the buy week in week 14? Because it better happen. Listen, 17 and 18, Bengals and Chiefs, you're not winning those. That's going to be for number one. They're going to eclipse that five. win total by the buy week and week 14. I do not buy. They're a terrible roster. Don't buy it at all. At all. All right. Let's go to the final story. And that is to the Jets. Ah, yes. Garrett Wilson,

the stud receiver for the Jets. Top eight receiver in the league without a doubt. He's watched a lot of receivers get big contract extensions and he's eligible for one after the 2024 season. And Garrett Wilson spoke about wanting to earn his spot among the league's top wide outs. I see all of it. You know, I don't look at it as far as that could be coming from. I look at it as, oh, I got to go make that happen. You know, I got the opportunity to join an elite group of guys. And, you know, that's who gets that type of money as an elite group of guys.

You know, guys that are part of teams that win games because of them. And, you know, our difference makers every single time they're on the field. That's not how I'm motivated. but I'm not going to sit here and act like I don't see it. Very exciting, J-Mack. So his numbers, the last couple years with no quarterbacks, somewhat staggering. No, he's good. He's really good.

And he also appears to be humble. Like, he seems like a nice kid. He's not going to social media. Ohio State product, obviously. Listen, he caught 95 passes, and the passes were from, like, Tim Boyle and Zach Wilson. Put up massive numbers. Didn't have the touchdowns. He's a great young player.

And he appears to be a great young guy. No, I mean, look at his numbers considering the quarterback play are phenomenal. He's eclipsed all other jet receivers in the last two seasons. He's great. He's a great one. I mean, that's what Ohio. And now you have Mike Williams opposite. I remember when Ohio State used to furnish the NFL with linebackers and backs.

Now it's receivers. What receivers are the best, some of the best in the league. Wow, Ohio State has become. It's so funny. This midway, I grew up with Ohio State. It was Woody Hayes and pound the football. They've become wide receiver you. I mean, they got Harrison's going to be a star.

Wilson's a star. You've got to change with the win. You know, football changes. You've got to adapt. They've done a good job. I don't want to get too excited about the jet skills. Olavé is another one with the Saints. He's fantastic.

He doesn't have a quarterback either. But Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, if you're just looking at top receiver, top running back duos, they're in discussion for the best one-two punch. Very good. Receiver running back. Elite.

Um, so I saw this story and I thought was pretty interesting. that Kyle Shanahan, a San Francisco 49ers, very smart offensive head coach, dad was a great coach too, offered Bill Belichick a role on his staff,

and Bill Belichick turned it down. So here is Kyle Shanahan on the TK Show podcast with Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. Here's the sound. Not a head coach of a team right now. I know what I would do if I was an owner, so that shocks me. the last thing you want to do is insult someone like Bill Belichick. But I know he just loves ball in the simplest form. So I threw it all out to him, like whatever he'd want to do.

He's, he politely turned me down. I actually think Belichick, who turned it down, was smart to turn it down. He doesn't need to grind and be on the treadmill. He needs to self-reflect and analyze a broader view of the league. Because when Brady left, Bill didn't struggle. He crashed. The roster's awful. The offense was inept.

His quarterback handling was brutal. His staff retreads. Post-Bradie, Bill was a mess. Drafting, not great. Winning, disappeared. Even the stuff Bill was known to be great at, like details and situational football, was haphazard. Belichick crashed. And there's one way to fix that.

It's not grinding on a staff. It's looking in the mirror. making calls, visiting camps. Dude can coach. There's no question about that. But if you're going to give him control of the football operation, you're romanticizing what happened. This wasn't a slow decline, pretty, but, no, that's what we're going to see with the cowboys

over the next three years. It was they couldn't get the roster right. The offense was anemic. Whatever he did to Mac Jones did. didn't work. Matt Patricia is an offensive coordinator. It was embarrassing. The offense was the weakest next to Carolina in the league.

So once you're a legend, by the way, you can't open the show. Like Paul McCartney could be 94. He's never opening for anybody. Bon Jovi rocks. They don't open for anybody. I don't care of John Bon Jovi's bald at some point. He's not opening for anybody. Legends don't do the undercard.

So same with Connor McGregor. No undercards. Not interested, even though he didn't win fights anymore. J. Mack, Nick Wright, top of the show. Tyreek Hill has some kind words about Tua. But Paul George said something about the clippers, being the little brother with the Lakers. And what's interesting is when Steve Balmer, the richest owner in the NBA, bought the franchise,

they had a couple of different directions to go. And as brilliant as Balmer is, did he go the direction that's the opposite of the one he should have taken? And we'll discuss that next. to start listening today. One of the greatest rivalries in sports unfolds as Aaron Judge and the Yankees take on Raphael Divers and the Red Sox, or the Mariners take on the White Sox. It all begins Saturday at 70s, turn on Fox. So, Jemak, you know I like Paul George. Analytically, one of the more underrated players of the last decade.

But he couldn't get through LeBron in the East. And so, or, you know, when he was in Cleveland or when he was in Miami, he couldn't get past him. And then it comes out to Los Angeles and, well, it's the Clippers. And so he was on a podcast recently. and it's interesting. He talked about, because he's from Fresno State. He's a California kid. Easy to root for.

Nice guy. Plays on both ends of the floor. I always found him an incredibly easy guy to root for, especially if you're in California. And was willing, said, listen, I want to go back home, which is always a great story. But he was on a podcast recently

and said being a clipper can be tough. I think initially, you know what I mean? Coming back to L.A., that was home. when I first came back to L.A., but it's not the same love. Because when I was in L.A., they were like, man, you should have been a Laker.

That's all I was hearing. It wasn't like, oh, welcome to the Clippers. No, we're happy you were in L.A., but you should have been a Laker. You're the second team. I'm on the B team. That's how the vibe and the love felt. So no matter how much money you have,

and Steve Balmer is the first or second richest owner in the NBA. In Los Angeles, need to win and win big. It's an incredibly distracted city. And the Clippers have had Lobb City. They now have the richest owner. A cool new arena coming.

Harden, Kauai Westbrook. But the last five years, the Lakers have LeBron and A.D. And another title. And two Western Conference finals trips. And the Clippers have, hey, is Kauai available tonight? the Rams have two Super Bowls in the eight years they've been in L.A. The Dodgers have 21 division titles in their history. The Lakers have LeBron, AD, and 17 titles,

and the Chargers have Harbonne a star quarterback, and here comes USC entering the Big Ten. And the Clippers have, hey, you want to go watch James Hardin. You can buy a lot of things, but what you can't buy is loyalty and devotion. And as the clippers move into their new arena, two things are also true. They have no banners or no retired jerseys of all-time great players. Just a cool arena and really, really wealthy owner. I would argue Steve Balmer should have taken the Oklahoma City tact.

Young, draft, develop, and build a culture within. What the Clippers tried to do is be a knockoff version of the Lakers. So whereas Los Angeles can go and get LeBron and AD best guys on the market, Kauai is nonverbal and aloof. Hardin is about Hardin. Those guys are, I mean, let's be honest, Hardin and Kawhi, and to some degree Westbrook are, leave you wanting more first team.

So they end up being a knockoff on the Lakers. second-tier free agents, guys that aren't available, rigid guy, selfish guy, guy that never delivers in May and June, and the Lakers have another, albeit bubble title, LeBron, Anthony Davis, which every roster in the league could use. So I think the Clippers had all that money and should have built loyalty and devotion, and the way to do that is not bringing guys from out of town.

But when you do that, at least go get a California kid, Paul George, who's available, plays hard on both ends. And from Fresno State, let's be honest, he's easy to root for. And they let him go. So in my opinion, not only did they build the wrong way, but they didn't keep the one guy you could wrap your arms around. You can't wrap your arms around. harden, kind of wrap your arms around Kauai. He doesn't play and he's nonverbal.

So they got a lot of smart people in the building, but L.A. doesn't do knockoffs. L.A. wants the real thing. Even the flawed real thing. Laker tickets, almost twice as expensive. Places sold out. I think they've butchered it.

So what I'm about to say is actually a compliment, but Jay Maxxie. will not see it that way. So let me talk about Tua for a second for the Miami Dolphins. There is a prototype player in the league that is Tua. But Tireke Hill says, listen, Tua could hold out

because he wants a new contract and they're negotiating it. But Tyree Kills, superstar receiver says, I don't think Tua. Too competitive will hold out. I believe he will practice because Tua, he's very competitive. He will not tell you that, but he's very competitive. of him he's a he's a guy that doesn't like to fall too far behind you know and um and he understands that um we we have a really good team and he doesn't want to miss miss his window like i say we got a

great offense you know our defense is real good it's looking real good this year man so um he understands all of that so i believe he's going to practice you know what i think tua is a slightly more talented left-handed version of brock purdy they're the same guy in the same system Mike McDaniel runs Kyle Shanahan's system. Same offense, same system. Both Tua and Pertie have brilliant offensive coaches. Both have stacked offensive weapons. Both are smaller Brock Pardy and Tua than you'd like.

Both are accurate, nice guys and coachable. Low ceilings. Both Tua and Brock Pardy, in my opinion, will get overpaid. Their rosters then will not be as dynamic, and you'll see the truth. both feel small, talented, but small when they face a Mahomes or a Stafford in a big game. Both have made Pro Bowls due to production and brilliant coaching and weapons. They're a little small, they're pretty good, they're not sensational, but they're going to get awards and yards and paid a lot of money,

and then the rosters aren't going to look the same. And that's how you judge greatness. when Brady was winning Super Bowls with one wide receiver, Julian Edelman, that you could trust. When Mahomes is winning a Super Bowl, when Juju Smith-Schuster or Rishi Rice is his top receiver. That's the difference. That's really the difference. Is Josh Allen keeps winning? He's had bad old lines until last year no run game and usually one receiver you like.

Joe Burrow got to a Super Bowl with an anemic, egregiously. bad offensive line. It's not what you do when you have a great coach and a stacked roster. It's what you do when you don't. Matt Stafford pulled that RAM team into the playoffs. That was not a

playoff roster. And almost won a second playoff game. They had Detroit beat. They had Baltimore beat in the regular season. Baltimore would start 15 guys and a 22-man starting roster. What do you do when everything's not perfect? And that's what happens when you get the bag as a B

quarterback talent. You notice the more the Cowboys rely on DAC, the more he gets paid, the weapons go. They don't do anything in January. I like Tua. I think he's more talented than Brock Purdy, but there's a lot of similarities, and they're both going to get paid, and things are going to change. That's a compliment, by the way. Comparing him to a first round quarterback, did you take it as a compliment? Well, you're missing

one small difference between these two. Brock Purdy's rookie deal, four years, $3.7 million. He's free. He's making it. He's free. Toa, his rookie deal, four years, $30 million.

Okay? Brock Purdy's the best bargain in sports right now. That's not even close. Okay. Yeah. I think I would make the case that I would pay Purdy in the $45, $50 million range over Tua simply because of the injury history the Tua. Purdy, and again, fewer starts than Tua. No real injuries yet, right?

I don't think he's anything major. Well, yeah, Purdy has. Remember the elbow? Yeah. But that was in the NFC championship game, didn't miss time because it was like, you know, the offseason. But he rebounded from that perfectly fine last season and put up, you know, I think numbers that made him like... I would pay two more than Brock Purdy.

Yeah. Okay, you can do that. Yeah, I would. I would do that. You like to overpay quarterbacks anyway, so go ahead. No, I don't. You know, two is fine. He deserves to get paid.

But again, I think the better story, Colin, is when a coach and a front office decide, we're going to just draft a quarterback, use up his rookie deal, and then move on and do it again and continue to... That's the smartest move. And let somebody else overpay for Purdy. Right. Now, the problem is, can you continue to... continue to find quarterbacks.

The answer is no. That's the hardest thing to do is what? You're not going to find another Brock Purdy in the seventh round. I mean, Kurt Warner and Romo were undrafted, and until Purdy, we hadn't really had a Kurt Warner. Sixth round. Yeah, that was 25 years ago. But, I mean, it was Kurt Warner and Romall were the last like, wow.

Mark Brunel was drafted later, but seventh round last pick to this. That is once a decade stuff. So you know how hard it is. Kyle Shanahan and Lynch thought that, uh, The quarterback they drafted second overall was the dude. What was his name again? Trey Lance. Trey Lance.

So it's hard. That's how much. I don't criticize GMs for missing on quarterbacks. Outside of the Bears, drafting Trabisky. I don't even blame them for passing on Mahomes because we didn't know what we didn't know. But Trabisky was not a first round quarterback. Every GM I trusted told me, front leg thrower, ball dies, athletic, nice kid, not a first round quarterback. But I generally, it is hard to draft quarterback.

So shouldn't you do it? single year? Take one, take a bite at the apple every year. Well, Belichick, when Brady was in New England in his prime, he would draft one every other year. Didn't he draft Agrippolo, right? Second round. Now, what about Brissette? Was that his or no, or someone else's? Because I think he had a couple okay dart throws. Matt Castle was like an undrafted dude. No, I mean, he, he, no, Bill drafted quarterbacks every second or third year. I think you should do that even when you have a star. I think that's a way, even if your quarterback in his prime. You just, by the way,
