plenty of both on a riveting. Probably perhaps the best weekend of sports viewing of my life. Saturday may have been the best single day. Joy Taylor is joining me. She got back from Vegas in the fights, and that just capped off an insane Saturday.

It was a great sports day. One thing just leveled up from the next. And it was like you'd go watch one network for one game, and that was over. And you'd go to another network for another game, and it was like they were all stacked perfectly for lazy people. I was lazy the whole weekend. It was fantastic. And I want to start the show, Joy, is we should give respect to dynasties and all-time great teams. But we treat the Kansas City chiefs. I've noticed

this with the media in the last year. We give them like Shaq Kobe Laker dynasty treatment. That's not what they are. Kansas City has been to two Super Bowls, blown out in one, and outplayed in seven of the total eight quarters they've been in. We're treating them like they're this warriors, bulls, Lakers dynasty where everybody's afraid to criticize them. Folks, eight quarters, they've been in the Super Bowl. They've been outplayed in seven. They've yet to beat Brady.

And they're not close to Buffalo. Forget great team. Right now they're not a good team. Their defense is the worst in the NFL and I'm including Seattle. They are now highly dependent on gimmings. They can't run the football. Mahomes is getting increasingly sloppy. They're a finesse football team.

Buffalo beats Kansas City 10 out of 10 times. Buffalo blitzed once on 63 snaps. Why? Didn't have to. Our guys are better than your guys. You blitz when your guys aren't good enough to create a pass rush. Buffalo's like our dudes are better than your dudes. We'll bring four and get pressure.

Chiefs are blitz and safety. and corners and linebackers and getting smoked. Like, this whole thing, I mean, nobody loves Andy Reid more than I do, but we all understand, right, that physicality matters in football. It's called the Patriots in Alabama Dynasty. It's not been marked by always brilliant quarterback play or great weapons. New England hasn't that great weapons since like Randy Moss. It's defense and physicality and controlling the clock.

Even in basketball, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Raptors, and Lakers are the last three champions. Two of those three couldn't shoot threes. Yonnas can't shoot threes, but all of them are big and physical and clamped down, and they handcuff you. Like big physical. That's basketball. That's not football. Kansas City is like a fighter that's got a good punch but can't defend himself, bad footwork. Like they've become a one-trick pony.

Anytime a team goes heavy on blitzes and heavy on gimmicks, it's smoke and mirrors. I know we love Andy Reid. I know Tyree kills the fastest human you've ever seen, not name Usain Bolt. I know Patrick is really, really talented. But the Buffalo Bills pass the ball less than half as much and ended up with more passing yards. That is a problem for the Chiefs. The bills only threw the ball 26 times. Why?

They didn't have to. Kansas City threw it 54 times. Why? Because they couldn't do anything else. When I can get more passing yards than you with less than half the. attempts, you're not a very good football team. But the media is so petrified to get burned because Kansas City is so explosive and dynamic and fun and flashy that we fall in love with them. They're a great story. But we're treating them like the Shaq Kobe Lakers. We're treating them like

Michael Jordan's Bulls. We're treating them like the Patriots dynasty. They've yet to beat old Tom Brady. They certainly wouldn't have beaten young Tom Brady. They can't beat the old version. Couldn't beat him in New England. We didn't have any weapons. And they can't beat now. They got blown out by him. It's like, yes, they're a, they're a fun watch. They got one Super Bowl, blown out in the other. Mahomes, who's a super talent, but you start looking around the AFC now, Josh Allen, Mar Jackson, Justin Herbert, like there's a wall forming for Kansas City that they're going to have to leap over. And of all those teams, they have by far and away, far and away the worst defense. They need more gimmicks far and away than everybody else on that wall.

Here's Mahomes and his problems and turnovers after. Yeah, I mean, it starts with me. I mean, I think of three of them were on me. I mean, the interceptions and then the fumble at the end of the game. And so I have to correct that. I have to be better. It's something that I've not usually done in my career, but I have to reevaluate where I'm at, what decisions I'm making. I've been kind of a crazier player as far as scrambling and making throws, but in my career, I've never been someone to throw a lot of interceptions. And so I kind of have to look at it now. I go back and reevaluate what I'm doing and try to have to cut it out.

Good news. He's a smart kid. He's wildly coachable. But we've got to stop being terrified to be honest about Kansas City. The team that's the most fun to watch isn't necessarily the best team. And Buffalo, top to bottom, has way more good players right now than Kansas City. I mean, Buffalo is literally had nine defensive linemen placed again. significant snaps, didn't need to blitz at any point in the game, did pretty much whatever they wanted to offensively.

And that's on the road. That's on the road where you're not as good. That game's in Buffalo gets worse. Let me start with this. As a parent, parents will tell you how much they trust their kids by the responsibility they give their kids. Which kid do you give money to if you're going out with the other kids? Which kid do you give the keys to the car?

You and your wife are leaving for the weekend. Which kid do you trust to make sure everything is right? Parents will tell you what they think about a kid's trustability and judgment based on the responsibility a parent gives the child in their family. Brandon Staley coaches Justin Herbert. They not only go for it on fourth and one, they go for it on fourth and seven. They go for it on fourth and four deep in their own territory. The Chargers have absolute, he's only got 20 NFL starts, and the Chargers implicitly trust Justin Herbert with the keys to the family Mercedes

at any point. That is a great player. Fourth and seven, no issues. Go for it. On the road, at home, they don't care. Baker Mayfield, with 50 NFL starts, the number one rated O-line, the number one rated run game, and the head coach of the year, 50 starts, would not go for it on third down when their defense couldn't stop a nosebleed. On third and 10, they ran into the line. Their defense couldn't stop the chargers.

They were deep in their own territory. They were going to give the ball back at the 50. Herbert was on fire. Weapons. It would now be four-down territory. What did that tell you about the trust and the judgment of the Cleveland coaches on Baker Mayfield? I mean, it was a jaw-dropping while moment.

Forget the fact that you don't trust him now. The coaches don't trust him. And then it can only be classified as gross negligence when Baker did get a it back, and I've always said, everybody plays great with the lead. Everybody plays great when nobody knows if they have to throw. But when everybody in the stadium knows you have to throw, like, you know, that final Herbert drive, did you see what Baker did? It was embarrassing. 21 yards in a minute 26. Aaron Rogers needs two plays to move 60 yards. Brady, if you give him a minute 30 has time to spare, has to throw the ball out of bounds to waste time. He's did it too

quickly. Baker checked down three straight times with no timeouts left. Okay, Baker in crisis, again, everybody plays when the running game is good and you play with a lead and there's no pressure. You get the bag, you get 300 million when you play from behind and you have to throw and everybody knows you have to throw. That was bad. Herbert has had 20 starts, six game winning drives. And this is a kid that entered. The staff's already been fired. He entered with the worst statistical offensive line in the league.

He's on his second coach in the second year in a really, really, what we perceive is a really good division. And the entire staff is just like, go for it. Fourth and seven, fourth and four, doesn't even matter where they're at. parents tell you what kid they trust coaches tell you how much trust they have that's a head scratcher and Kevin Stafansky a very good coach, wonderful scheme coach is too smart to say

oh, I couldn't see the clock guy way you don't trust your quarterback and get in the bag if you don't trust your quarterback if the chargers were forced to pay Herbert today the brink trucks would pull up behind the stadium they made their decision Cincinnati's made their decision on their quarterback Josh Allen's already been paid.

Mahomes got paid early. Now, there was a bad call down the stretch against Cleveland. Nobody would deny that, and Baker wanted to point it out after. I mean, late in the game, might as well just forward the fine letter. We asked the ref on the sideline how the hell he missed that call. I mean, they're shoving Donovan people's Jones out of bounds, and then Higie gets grabbed, so there's two PIs on one play. They don't call it.

I mean, but we shouldn't have even been in that position. I'd left too many points in the field first half. But it's very frustrating when, you know, we didn't do our job enough to, you know, to just take the ballgame away. He's not wrong. And I lost a bet because of that call. And I'll give him a pass on calling out the officials because I thought it was an egregiously poorly officiated weekend by the NFL. The game last night was embarrassing. It was embarrassing.

It was one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. call against Cleveland was absolutely inexcusably bad and the officials should be as suspended. That's not the only reason Cleveland lost. But in this instance, I will defend Baker calling out the officials because when the officiating is that bad, somebody has to be held accountable. And the NFL should step in and suspend the official that made that call up the sideline. I'm not saying that just because I had money on Cleveland. It was bad. It was. It was. embarrassing. It probably did change the outcome. But the bigger issue is, why the hell did they run it on third and ten into the line? Their defense couldn't stop Herbert all day. That is a much broader

issue than a lousy officiating call. All right. We got good stuff today. Trent Dillfer, next hour, Michael Vic, this hour. It was so much fun this weekend. You know, I am somebody that I like to get outside. I like to move. I like to do my stuff like most of you, right? And when you live in Los Angeles and our weather here is like 72 degrees, every day. day. It was perfect weather. And I felt it was funny. So I opened all the windows in the house. I'm like, I need some outdoors in the house. I can't be sitting here all day. I literally Saturday could not get off the couch. Every time I thought about getting up, I'd go down and I get something to eat and I come up and I'm like, it'd be another amazing play. It was all 9 a.m. to 9.42 p.m.

until Fury knocked out Wilder. It was a remarkable day of television. And I was on my butt for To see all of it. It was great for all of us. Giants had a lot of injuries, but I felt Dallas was really controlling the game before that, and they're the better football team, obviously, than the Giants. They're really fast. They're very athletic. They're very dynamic, and they're really good. One of the things that the NFL has a huge advantage of over the other sports in America, and this is why they keep kind of pulling away from other sports. The NBA ratings are down.

Baseball's kind of plateau. The NFL's keep growing. You can go from really okay to really exceptional very fast. It takes a couple of draft picks. And in the last two years, Dallas has hit on four draft picks, each in a different unit. C.D. Lamb last year. Home run, wide receiver. Trayvon Diggs, last year.

One of the best corners in the game. Micah Parsons, linebacker unit. And then Osa Odigizua from UCLA defensive line has been an absolute home run. Four separate units have added an inexpensive star. And these are stars. These guys are elite players. When you add that to a good roster, whoa, it's a great team. And Dallas is now embarking on that.

In baseball, a great draft pick goes to the minors. In basketball, a great draft pick. You can't win with kids. you can in the NFL. In fact, you need great young players to offset your expensive quarterback. That's the way the league works. Now, the opposite is true, too. If you can't get the quarterback right, ask the Miami Dolphins,

your defense following year can't stop anybody. But you can criticize Mike McCarthy, but every single NFL team, including the Buffalo Bills and the Green Bay Packers, both in week one, have had a stinker. Tampa Bay had a stinker in L.A. I've watched the Cowboys play five games. The game they lost, I thought they outplayed Tampa on the road. This team has not had a bad Sunday or a Monday.

They haven't. They've lost one game. We know now the Chargers are pretty good. Beat them in L.A. We know Tampa's the Super Bowl champ gave them 450 yards and fits. So in two years, and we predicted on this show, I thought they were a playoff team. They're a good team. I've been saying this for 20 years.

It's a good team. That'll be entertaining. But when you add to a good team, four, last two years, four outstanding, like elite rookie players, you make a really, really smart coordinator change

to a good roster. What you have is a Super Bowl bubble team. This is one of the eight teams with a chance to win it today. And I have never been anti-Cowboy. I've been anti-hyped with the Cowboys. This team's good. They're fast.

They're athletic. They're young enough. but have the experience at the left tackle, at the quarterback, at the edge rusher, just enough experience to matter. And here's Mike McCarthy after. Yeah, I don't even think you can compare us, this team to last year's team. It's different on so many different fronts. But we're clearly, you know, we've competed, you know, five times now.

And I felt like we've, we have played, you know, winning football in all five contests. But we were looking for more production today, and I felt like we took a step in the right direction. Giants were injured, no doubt. But even before that, it was a fumble in the red zone or Dallas would have had a sizable lead. This is a really, really good Dallas Cowboy football team. Tampa doesn't look tight. I still can't get over the conservative play calling by Green Bay. Arizona's fantastic, but we don't know if we can trust them late.

Perhaps that's the same with the Dallas Cowboys, but this is real. What you're seeing is real. Joy Taylor, with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, rough weekend for the referees and a rough weekend for the kickers. Oh my gosh.

It was, I mean, honestly, that's why I don't get Matt LaFluor of Green Bay's coaching. What are you doing? Like, they kicked a field goal on third down. I don't understand it. I don't know. It was Doinkville yesterday, though, and they are definitely louder doinks this year. Oh, no, they're mic and the doinks. The doinks are hotly Mike. It's so loud. Well, it was tied at 22 near the end of the fourth quarter. Incredible game. Oh, it was great.

And neither kicker could get it through the uprights. Since he missed one and Green Bay missed two and three straight possessions to send it to overtime. And then to get much better there, both kickers missed again before Mason Crosby finally hit a 49-yarder to give the Packers the 25. 22 win. There were 12 miss field goals and 12 missed extra points combined in week five. And a lot of them, the bad weather's not here. Like this is still

beautiful, I don't know how cold it was. It was a beautiful day in Cincinnati. Yeah, I don't know. We're not talking about like weather misses and that, you know, yeah, this is like as good at weather as the fall presents outside of Kansas City last night. And generally really good kickers too.

It was, it was very bizarre. It was bad bad day for kicking. Now, Since the extra point was moved back in 2015, this is the first week to have at least 10 missed field goals and 10 missed extra points. So this is kind of an outlier thing. So I don't want to get crazy with conspiracies or anything. It just seemed to be a really bad day for kickers this weekend. But overall, good game, Joe Burrow, 26 to 38, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 28, 181 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions. He was taken to the hospital with a throat contusion after the game.

Yeah, I saw that. But it was reportedly just a precaution. and he's expected to be fine. Jamar Chase, again, six catches, 159 yards, touchdown, and we know what Aaron Rogers does. But overall, even though this wasn't a win for the Bengals, I felt like this was a very telling game for the direction that they're heading. I didn't think they were going to beat the Packers.

No, Packers are a better team. If you watch the game, the Packers, I felt like were the better team. I actually called the Ups. I had Cincinnati winning, and I thought I had it, like the Cleveland game I called. I thought I had it. I could have had a spectacular. weekend did not. I was so close, but I will say this. This is

all about baby steps and Cleveland Cincinnati is really close. I don't know if they're there yet, but offensively, that's pretty good. Yeah, I think you don't want to get like moral into the moral victory space, but I do think you have to take things into perspective even in a loss, and that was a great game

by Cincinnati against a better team in the Packers. So, Justin Fields, what do you know? He can play. It's officially begun the era in Chicago. in his first game since being named the starter going forward. He threw for 111 yards in his first touchdown pass in the 20 to 9 victory. Chicago's defense also had a really big game.

They did. Khalil Mack eight tackles and a sack. He still has it. And they also held the Raiders to the fewest points so far this season. So I guess, you know, the thing with the Lions wasn't just beating the Lions and he can actually play NFL football. Yeah, no, I think it was a legitimate win. Yeah.

So you don't want to count the Lions one. There you go. The Raiders are a real team, and I guess Chicago has a great defense, but he did what he was supposed to do. Yeah, and he needs a better defense. He's going to throw for 120 yards. This is how young quarterbacks win. Trey Lance yesterday didn't throw for many yards, but he competed. Yeah. So the key, in Jacksonville, Trevor Lawrence has to throw for 350 yards. Zach Wilson, same thing. When you're young, this is the kind of win, Mac Jones, by the way. You have to win this way. And that's why when they come in the first year, 500's a wonderful goal.

Just don't ask them to do it. Justin Herbert's a complete exception to the rule is this offensive line is not capable of giving him 38 points a week. And I thought they really came in. I know we don't like Matt Nagy, right? But this was a nice game plan. They played within his ability to do things. I don't have a problem with Matt Nagy.

I thought Justin Fields should have been starting week one. And it appears I am correct about that. He didn't need one and a half games holding a towel. to figure out how to play, but that's the way it was handled. And now it's Justin Fields' team moving forward. And, you know, the schedule's going to get a little interesting. So they have Green Bay next week on Fox. And then they have the Buccaneers, then the 49ers, Steelers, and the by.

A lot of defenses. Yes. A little choppy there. Well, after the buy, it's pretty even. But, you know, we'll see. That was a legitimate win, though, against the Raiders. and they should feel good about that. So Saturday night, Tyson Fury and Deonté Wilder

ended in thrilling fashion. Wild. It was, I think it's the best fight I've ever been to. In terms of action, it's one of the best fights. I'm not saying they're two great fighters, but in terms of just the action I saw. It was a very emotional fight. They hate each other, like legitimately.

They legitimately don't like each other. The arena was not, so you and I were at the second fight. And that was a very heavy, Fury crowd. Yes. But with COVID, Fury fans can't come over. There's travel restrictions.

So it was very split. Yeah. And you could feel it. But you could also feel the emotion because when heavy weights fight, it's different. Like there's just a different energy in the building. It feels big. It feels big.

They are big. They are leaning on each other. Like you can feel the energy of the act. And they are fighting. So five knockdowns, Wilder going down three times, Fury going down twice. There was a couple rounds where if you had just a few more seconds, the fight was going to be over.

But Fury ended up winning, got the final word, knockout in the 11th round to retain his heavyweight title. Anthony Joshua is the fight that everyone keeps talking about. He's 24-2-0. He fought September 25th and lost Alexander Usik, and he exercised his rematch, which is reportedly supposed to take place next spring, so it could be a while before we see that Fury Joshua fight.

fight, but this was an absolutely incredible night. Just, I thought it was actually, even though it was obviously a loss for Wilder, I thought it was a very, not a good loss, but you felt it. Like it was a great fight. It wasn't like the second fight you really felt like he was just never in it. No, it was a real fight. This was an actual battle. Yeah.

I mean, Fury is one, two, or three, and I think Fury is better, but Wilder can take a punch. Yeah. We forget, like Fury, seven and a half. And like almost 300. Those are big blows. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by.

55 throws, a lot of gimmicks. They're not really getting a pass rush without lots of blitzing secondary players. I think they're broken right now, Michael. That's what they look like to me. Like Kansas City's broken. What do you see and how do you fix their issues? Yeah, Colin, right now, they look like the team who's trying to find their identity.

And we never seen this out of the Kansas City Chiefs before, which is surprising. And I just got to look at the defensive side of the ball first and almost. All right, hold on. We've got to get a mic on Michael Vic. He is not miced right now. So we'll get that mic fixed in just a second, and we'll come back to him. If you, because there was a delay last night in that game, and if you, let's say at the delay, you left and went to bed and didn't come back.

It was a clear before the delay. Buffalo was better. After the delay, you doubled down. Let's go back to Michael now. So Michael, how do you fix Kansas City's issues? Let's start offensively. Offensively, Colin, I really think, man, I was thinking about this this morning. The presence of Sammy Watkins was so invaluable to this team.

Whenever we've seen Kansas City the last two years, I felt like it was always Sammy Watkins creating a spot for the offense. Even before Tariq Hill, Tyreek Hill, he's a guy that at some point he's going to show up, whether it's, you know, in the quick game or in the deep game, deep ball game. But Sammy opened things up when the next. he opened it up for everybody and I think just not having that missing element having that missing element is really causing this offense to flutter a little bit. You know, obviously they got Josh Gordon and it's going to take some time to get him inserted into the offense. But this is

the first time we've seen the Kansas City Chiefs offense struggle on all the cores on consistent occasions. And it's very concerning. And then you turn to the defensive side of the ball. You know, when they're missing a lot of guys. Chris Jones is. out. I do like Steve Spagnola's scheme, but you got to have the personnel to match. And right now, it seems like that's what's missing. No, when I watch this game, Michael, my takeaway is Buffalo over the last three years has just hit a lot of big hits in the draft. They have so many different defensive linemen. Mike, in 63 snaps, Buffalo blitzed one time. You've been a quarterback. When a team gets a rush and doesn't blitz, you know what that's like. You're thrown

into a sea of bodies. I think Buffalo's got more good players today than Kansas City. And what they was doing, they was daring Kansas City to run. Yeah. Like they set back in the zone and said, all right, look, Tyreek Hill is not going to get over the top. Right. McCullochal is not going to be this over the top. He's not a deep threat. He's a quicker guy just to move in space. Run the foot, we dare you to run the football and try to be. that's in the run game because these other guys are not getting behind our safeties. And Sean McDermen, no Andy, Andy, no Sean McDermott. So it was a great test match.

But last night, Advantage went to Sean McDermott. So I want to talk about Chargers, Cleveland. I thought for most of the game, Cleveland was the better team, and I thought they got hosed on a PI call. But I want to talk about something that's bigger than that. You can tell when you watch Herbert and their coach Brandon Staley, Mike, they're going forward on fourth and seven, fourth and four, deep in their own territory. They don't care.

I mean, that is something. If I was a quarterback, I would love my coach believing in me. On third and 10, the Browns ran the ball into the line. And my take, I could not believe it. I thought, time out, your defense can't stop the Chargers. There's a minute and a half left. Wouldn't you be concerned if you were Baker-Mayfield that your staff doesn't quite believe in you? Well, I wouldn't necessarily say that because, you know, sometimes you can look at tendencies.

And I think throughout the course of the game, maybe in, third and long situations, you know, as the coaching staff, they gathered their thoughts and talked up in the press box. They might have just been playing very soft and, you know, the Browns run the football very well and they probably wanted to try to catch him with the element of surprise. Throw like a draw in or throw some type of, you know, just running back, just a run to the running back. And I just think it failed.

I don't think it was something, you know, an indictment on Baker Mayfield. You know, I think it was more so. They was just trying to catch the charges all. off guard and it just backfired on them. But, you know, next time they get put in that situation, I guarantee the decision will be different. Your takeaway, because we said as a

staff, when we watch the drive the Browns made, when they check down three times and basically couldn't, you know, got to the 50-yard line in a minute 26. It was weird. You've been in these situations before. Is it check down? Is it? Because he has a very

good offensive line. He gets good protection. That's never the issue. Was it, I mean, you tell me, I was just shocked by the checkdowns, then forcing yourself into Hail Mary's. Yeah, I think it was what the coverage was dictating. And sometimes you want to take that shot down the field. And the coach might call a pass play that has a shot in it or a deep route conversion in it. And you might take a look at it, but they just not giving it to you. Similar to what the Buffalo Bills did to Kansas City last night, they might have just set back and been soft and just daring you to go down the field. And then for Baker, it's probably a field thing.

You know, if he wasn't successful throughout the course of the game going down field, then he felt like checkdowns is the most valuable option. And we are taught in the two-minute drill, you know, and when we're trying to come from behind that the checkdowns become open because they're dropping up, dropping back and taking everything away. So I think Baker kind of got caught up in that and started, you know, trying to check it down more than he was supposed to. Yeah, they had no time out.

So it did not work in their favor. Your thoughts on Justin Herbert, it is pretty remarkable in 20 starts. Last year he had a chaotic offensive line. They've got a new coaching staff. I am amazed at his team in that fourth down. The punt team often just stays on the sideline. Like it's in his own territory against the team. You know, it's just weird to me.

They have since the first snap of this year, clearly the coaching staff is not concerned at all about him converting fourth down. Have you ever seen anything like it? Never seen anything like it or never wanted to be a part of it. I would have probably looked at Andy Reid or Jim Moore and, you know, in disbelief like, yo, hell is going on. This is not what we do. But it just shows that they got an uncanny belief in Justin Herbert.

And Colin, I always go back to our conversations last year when we was talking about this guy and how you just felt like he was the next up-and-coming. And he's proving that on the continuous basis. It's weekend and week out from last year to this year showing the ability to get better. And, you know, the charge has got to feel good about this pick because when you make a pick like this and it pans out for you, you got your quarterback for the next 15 years. And all you got to do is build around it. So we'll see more fourth and seven conversions for sure. By the way, Rishon Slater, they drafted the left tackle out of Northwestern.

He has been absolutely as good as Herbert. He has been a rock at left tackle. So in this league, if you can get the quarterback and left tackle right, I mean, you look at that and you're like, you got two pro bowlers for a decade. That is a lot of wins. I mean, in your life as a quarterback, and you were mobile and Herbert's mobile, but not your level normal, the value of having a great left tackle, or to your point, a right tackle, your blind side, doesn't change the psychology of how you think pre-snap. Oh, my God. It's the ultimate comfort level. I mean, even when I had JP, Jason Peters, and he was a left tackle,

and I still felt so confident and so calm going into a game when he had to block a guy like DeMarcus Ware or, you know, Julius Pepp was coming off that side. You know, even though it was in my blind side, I still was just, you know, super comfortable to the line of scrimmage. And knowing that he makes the left side better, he makes actually the whole offensive line better. And when you have that chemistry, y'all jail, and everybody's on the same page,

weekend and week out, you can go into games with confidence knowing that we got a 75% chance of winning this game, and it's because of what we're going to do up front. So it all starts right there. Michael Vick, he still got confidence in Baker Mayfield. He is not dropping his confidence. I think I may have lost mine on Sam Darnold this weekend. No McCaffrey, bad old line. But those interceptions to me as I was watching it, you know what I thought, Michael?

I thought that owner, David Tepper, is an impatient owner. And I thought to myself, he's watching that thinking, what, does everything have to be perfect to win? They led 15 to 3. I thought that was a really bad Sunday, a bad second half for Donald. Your thoughts? Right. Yeah, the fact that they had to lead and they lost it makes things even worse. But sometimes the errand throws, and I know Sam Donner was forcing things and just trying to

plays and you know in year three for him he feels like you know the time is now and they had a lot of momentum coming into this game even with a loss against Dallas last week they still played well so I can understand the confidence and him trying to steam roll off of that but you got to be extra careful and meticulous with the ball you know especially when you got to lead and not you know start pressing you know playing the quarterback position you have to have some sort of patience And even when, you know, things are not going your way, you still got to keep it tight. And you still got to play within the framework of the offense and let things happen naturally. And I just felt like Sam Donald just, you know, he had a little out-of-body experience yesterday and start pressing and start pushing it.

And, you know, the outcome wasn't in their favor. No, Michael, those are very fair criticisms. It's the knock on him that I've always said. He's a reckless player. And I thought he had a really bad second half. And it may be a one-and-done scenario. They're making decisions right now in the front office. Mike, great seeing you as always.

And Jimmy Johnson said something, I thought, and this takes courage to say, because I think there's a lot of people increasingly in the NFL that think this. In fact, I've talked to people over the last month about this in the league. They don't want to say it publicly, but they watch what Justin Herbert has overcome. Remember, he inherited a terrible offensive line and had to play immediately with a coach that's been fired.

I always say this. I'm a lot more impressed with you if you've made your own millions over a trust fund kid. I love Mahomes, but he inherited Andy Reid and Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelsey and a good old line. And then Alex Smith and he was allowed to slowly learn the system. Justin Herbert, here's the keys. Lines bad. Not sure if the coach works. Good luck.

That's different. Jimmy Johnson this weekend on Justin Herbert. The Chargers, they've got a star at quarterback. Justin Herbert, you know, six touchdown passes in the red zone in the last couple of weeks. And in fact, if I was drafting in the NFL today of all the players, my number one pick would be Justin Herbert. He's that biggest star. Over Mahomes?

Over Mahomes. He's bigger and stronger. He's never been heard in the NFL. He plays with more discipline. Now, now Mahomes is a special talent. Nobody, you know, again, if you don't say somebody's great all the time, you're a hater. Mahomes is great. It's the first ballot hall of fame.

I'd pay him every penny. But they grew up with different experiences. Herbert was the better college quarterback. He won a lot more games on a bigger stage. You know, Mahomes had a lot of yards, but couldn't win games. Again, Herbert's more disciplined. He's bigger. He's stronger.

And really inherited a mess, an organization that can't get out of its own way sometimes. But now they've got him a left tackle. they've got him a pro bowl level center and boy he is special i mean for a guy to run that well at six five and a half he and josh allen i'm just like i mean kiler murray's one thing but when you got a six five and a half guy that runs like that um i mean it's just 20 starts and he's this good 20 starts i mean we're sitting around and he is fill the stadium good and this is a big thing when the chargers as joy and i have chronicled moved up to l a it had disaster written all over it played in a soccer stadium for two years. It had disaster written all over it. Yesterday,

and now they're probably 30% Browns fans. Cleveland loves their sports and there's a lot of Ohioans all over the country, right? But this kid has filled a stadium special. Like, I have friends who bought season tickets who are not Charger fans, and they bought it to watch Herbert play eight, nine games at home. Like that's in LA, a distracted market. We got NBA, baseball. I have multiple friends who bought a season ticket. I got to go see Herbert. Like that is a special quality. Brandon Stalia's coach talked about it. To win a game like this that turns into a track meet, you have to have a superstar quarterback to win it. And that's what he is. Like I told the team in there, the reason why he's being able to play the way he's capable of playing is because he has a

really good team around him. It's so much fun to watch. We've talked about this before. We are all so lucky when you look around this league, just off the top of your head, Burrow, Kyler, Lamar, Josh Allen, Mahomes, Justin Herbert. That's just six. There are so many. And that's not a disparaging knock on a baker who has certainly has skills. There are, the other six, though, are, they're just different. I mean, the guys at six, five and a half don't run like that.

Josh Allen yesterday leaps over a chief in a rainstorm and you're just like, okay, well, that's not even fair. That's like, that's a cape thing. So I think we're all very lucky. the quality of quarterback play. If the NFL could just get officials that match the quality of the quarterback play, we'd have quite a league now, wouldn't we? All right, Colin wrong at the top of the hour.
