One of the better teams left out of that. Jay Mack, Nick Wright, Julian Edelman. It is an anxiety-laden day. America. We are not. We're wearing blue. That doesn't mean anything. It was just the best, cleanest shirt I had available. No messages from me. I just, this was the clean shirt on the

hook this morning. What's the anxiety about the NFL trade deadline? I saw the Cowboys made a huge move. Did you see that? I didn't like that trade. Jerry Jones. Oh my Lord. Come on. So Kansas City wins again. Only undefeated team in the league. they're at home, they go to overtime, they're working in their new receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, who had eight catches. You can always tell when a team is truly superior to the rest of the league because opposing fans start blaming the refs.

The Warriors Dynasty, the Chiefs and the Patriots. It's all opposing fans have the refs. Because head coach, quarterback, GM, defensive lineman, defensive coordinator, interior O line, the Chiefs are just better than the rest of the league. Blame the refs. They were 4 for 4 in the red zone. They dominated time of possession. They were 12 for 18 on third down conversions.

They sacked Baker-Mayfield four times. I mean, listen, if your side loses tonight, go ahead. Say it's rigged. If it makes you sleep better, go for it. It's not. Whoever wins, it's not. And by the way, it's not the refs. This team is so good in the moments that matter on third down in red zone,

and they're doing it without their best running back. and they've really pivoted to a methodical run game because right now that's what they have. They don't have Rishi Rice. They're trying to work in D'Andre Hopkins. So it's like we got to do, and we don't have our best running back. So what do we do now?

We don't have the home run hitter at running back. Okay, let's just do, let's pivot to a methodical run game. And they're averaging 31 rushes a game by far and away the most during the Mahomes era. And they're doing it. And most teams, by the way, don't do two things well. This team is the best in the league on third down. They're elite in the red zone. They get an unbelievable pass rush on big downs.

They're the best high-leverage team in the league in these big crisis moments. Mahomes in fourth quarter this year. Five touchdowns, no picks. So they do multiple things well. And last night is a great example. For the life of me, I'll talk about this later. I don't know why in the world, if you're Todd Bowles and the Tampa Buccaneers, why you wouldn't go for it in regulation?

Like, I want six more minutes of torture against Mahomes in that run game? No, thank you. I'm on the road. Take the two-point conversion. If you lose and you fail, nobody cares. Nobody blames yet. It's the Chiefs. They're undefeated.

It's Mahomes. It's Reed. Go for it. Don't even get me started on White Tampa didn't go for the first down. But it's just this team does so many things well. And we've said to this. We've talked about this for the last several weeks. It's very Brady in New England.

They have bad moments. They have bad throws. They have fumbles. They have interceptions. But look at their time of possession. Look at the methodical run game. Look at third down. Look at the high leverage situations.

Best coach, best quarterback, best defensive lineman, best defensive coordinator, arguably along with Detroit, best interior offensive line. I mean, it just better. It reminds me of those Jason Bourne movies seemingly on the edge. staring death in the face, and every week he uses something different. It's a rolled-up newspaper. It's a saucepan. It's a pen and shoelaces. It just doesn't matter.

This team doesn't have their home run running back. And they're working in D-Hop. So they're like, okay, let's pivot to a methodical slow run game. And it worked. Three and a half, four yards of pop. Most remarkable, on third and fourth down this season, these are the crisis moments. 113 pass-er rating from a homes. 150 passing yards.

Just when you think you have Jason born trapped, he rolls up a newspaper, bangs over the head, and he is free once again. Mahomes, is he hurt? Is he healthy? What's the latest? Here's the current goat. I was trying to run off the field,

and they were telling me not to. I mean, just kind of the football mentality is to get off the field, and we just want to touchdown. And they told me to just take it slow, and then as I started walking, and started feeling better. Andy said that he actually told you you're coming out. Yeah, I thought he was joking.

He said it. I was like, come on. We're not doing this again. He trusts me. And once the doctors checked it out, and I was able to get back and do the drops again, he let me get back on the film. It was a non-contact injury.

He's banged up. I feel like Mahomes every year is battling something. I mean, you get to your fifth, your sixth, your seventh year in the NFL, you're battling something, but he has great pain tolerance, plays through it, through it. But when you were watching that, game last night. It was a heck of a fight

by Baker Mayfield and the Bucks. They got some good players. Jason Light's a good GM. They have good players. And that was one of those games. Are like, is this going to be the week? And then I'm thinking, of course it's not. It's the Chiefs. Of course it's not. It'll get late and somebody will make a mistake.

And the mistake was Tampa didn't go for two and for the win. That was the mistake. You saw Baker Mayfield's reaction when they lost the coin flip. He's like, all right. That was your moment. A coin flip. I want to go to Chicago. We talked a lot about the Bears.

So we've had two coaches fired, two defensive coaches. You know my feeling on defensive coaches. I think Matt Eberflux is in big trouble. And there was a moment yesterday when a star receiver, DJ Moore, was asked if he had lost the team. And his answer was, I want to say no. If you and your wife are struggling and somebody asks your wife, do you love your husband? And she says, well, I want to say yes. You probably need to hire an attorney.

Listen, this started two weeks ago in that bizarrely coach game against Washington, when they gave a backup center of the ball at the goal line, even though they have hyper-mobile Caleb Williams, it was their best drive of the game. They had a good short yardage backs, and they gave it to a guy tape on his arms, center, backup, least athletic guy may be on the roster. It started with that.

And then, of course, in that game, there was the Hail Mary where the defensive back is jawing with the fans as the ball is in play. And eventually that young defensive back was late to come over and cover his guy in Washington one. So, I mean, listen, this started two weeks ago, and that's the way firings work. It gets ugly. It gets ugly fast. And then you can kind of feel it with Dennis Allen.

I didn't think the Robert Saw the thing was going to happen. But if they'd lost a Buffalo, I thought it was possibly going to happen. But the Jets always surprise us with their impulsive nature. But I think you can feel it now. And then the Arizona game, they come out with no juice, no energy, fall behind. Game doesn't look competitive. Caleb Williams is regressing. Bone Knicks gets better.

Jay and Daniels getting better. I mean, watching all these, Sam Darnold gets rejuvenated. And then you watch Caleb Williams, and you're like, he's getting worse, fast, quickly. So, I mean, if you really look at the Bears season in review, just think of the five or six big headlines. Week one, they get thankfully a horrible Will Levis decision, a interception, and they get a win staring at a loss. And then like a week later, there's a story that the Kenan Allen and the veterans on the team and Caleb Williams went to the coaches and said, please coach us harder.

And then there was the Caleb admitting that the team didn't get over the Hail Mary fast enough. That's why they were so flat this week. And now you have DJ Moore, the wide receivers saying, Yeah, I want to say no. Matt Iber Fluse hasn't lost the team. So this is what it looks like. It tends to unravel very quickly. I'm not sure if he's lost the team.

But when you watch a team and they come out back-to-back weeks, incredibly flat in the first half, that means the message isn't getting through. That's the problem. You can lose games. You can't lose a locker room, and it does feel like Matt Iberfluse has lost the guys. And for the record, they haven't played the Packers yet.

Like this, the tough part of their schedule is not the next game. That's New England. After New England, you're getting into a lot of Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, San Francisco, Minnesota, Detroit, Seattle, and Green Bay. This has been the easy part of the schedule where we all looked at it and went, oh, Carolina, Jacksonville, Washington, Arizona, Tennessee, Colts. This was the easy part. And they're at four and four. So it's trouble, and you can sense it, you can see it. You can smell it.

J. Mack, one hour from now, Nick Wright in the Heard hierarchy. I'm going to get into the Cowboys made a move today, which I just do not get at all. Giving up a fourth rounder to a wide receiver who can't separate. Just, I mean, they gave up a fourth rounder for Trey Lance. That seemed rich. Today, at best, a six-round pick. They give up another fourth-round picks are guys that play in the NFL as rookies. They play.

They may not start, but they play in conditions. tribute. We talked about the Cowboys maybe being sellers yesterday. At 3 and 5, Dack now going on, possibly IR. Come on, it's over. What are you doing? Give it up a draft thing for Mingo. Not only are they buyers, they appear to have been worked by Dan Morgan, the Carolina GM. Now, that's embarrassing because Carolina has one of the worst rosters in the league. People are bailing. Adam Thielen's going to get shipped out here soon. Deontay Johnson is gone. Like, come on, it's a mess. Jerry Jones should be embarrassed right now. It's definitely ugly.

Last night, you know, I've been very critical for several years about defensive coaches in the NFL. I don't think they get the top. terminology of offense. I think they struggle with offensive line play. And they just, I think they lack an understanding of the temperature of the room in the most important position in the sport quarterback. So last night's a great example. I like Todd Bulls. I think he's solid. But they had the champions on the ropes. Baker Mayfield has a great drive. They've got momentum. They drive down and they elect to kick a PAT and not, they elect to go PAT and go to overtime against Kansas City. What are you doing? You're, you're, you're, you're,

on the road, you're at a talent disadvantage. You're facing the greatest quarterback of all time. Kansas City has methodically worn you down on the ground. Your defense is beat up and tired. You got momentum. Why lead the game to a coin flip? You want to face six more minutes of Andy Reed,

Mahomes, and Steve Spagnola? That's the answer. So again, analytics would tell you to go for it. I don't always buy analytics. I think you have to watch the game and see the game. But to me, it's like Baker's got a chip on his shoulder. They're down Evans and Godwin, they're banged up. It's like you don't want six more minutes against the best team in the

world. This was like Minnesota Golden Gophers facing Ohio State in Columbus, and they kind of stay with them and hang with them. They get a great last drive. You go for the win. Why would you want to go overtime against the better team at their place with the better quarterback? You got a little bit of momentum. You don't get momentum against the Chiefs for long stretches. You get little five and six minutes moments in games. Kansas City gives you momentum about they'll make a bad pick. They'll have a fumble. They'll make a mistake.

Somebody limps off the field. And the Chiefs will give you these little moments in the game to grab momentum. They don't last very long because of Reed and Spags and Chris Jones and Kelsey and Mahomes. So this is just, to me, this is just bad coaching. Forget the analytics. And the analytics would have told you, I'm sure, to go for it. This is just a moment. And the Chiefs give you very, very few moments, especially in Arrowhead, very.

very, very few moments to steal one. And there's like an understanding in football. There has been forever. If you're on the road, you're facing the better team, and you have a chance to steal a game, get on the plane, and get out of town, you do it. You don't leave it up to a coin flip. And after the loss, I like Todd Bowles,

but the reason for kicking the PAT makes no sense. for two after the touchdown here to get more? Very minor. We wanted to get it to overtime with the wet conditions on the field. We felt like we had to go in overtime instead of a go for two. So we had our shots, you know, we lost the game. Re-sur- surprised, Todd, the go up for two in the table, no issue. No.

But I'm glad he didn't. Yeah, Andy Reid, Andy Reid wanted to go to overtime. Andy Reid wanted a chance to get Mahomes the ball again. I mean, Andy Reid did not want the game at Arrowhead on Monday Night Football to coming down to, can Tampa gain three yards? Because Tampa showed they can gain three yards. Tampa's not shown they can go to overtime and stop Mahomes. That's what they haven't shown. By the way, this week, Seattle, New England, Miami, and Tampa, four teams all scored a touchdown, down seven in the final two minutes.

None went for two. They all lost. All of them lost. By the way, three of the four defensive coaches. You go for it. It's just like a football truism. It's a football axiom. If the golden gophers can beat Ohio State and Columbus,

it may be the only time of a decade. It may be the only time in 20 years, you have a chance to steal a win at Alabama, a Georgia, Ohio state with an inferior roster. you don't go, let's leave it up to a coin. You know, in the NFL, let's just leave it up to a coin. No, let's leave it up to Baker Mayfield. Who was doing Baker Mayfield things?

He was running around. They've got good running backs. It's three, four yards. You can get that. But if you go to an extra session, you're not beating Mahomes an arrowhead. Did you see Baker Mayfield's reaction with a coin flip? Baker Mayfield's like, okay. Baker Mayfield knew instantly.

He's like, yeah, forget it. game's over. You just delayed the inevitable. Jay Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. The wet field is why they wanted to go

to overtime. What does that mean? I was having flashbacks to when Todd Bowles was coaching my jets and he told this kind of crap as well. Like he's just too conservative, defensive guys, as you said. They are. All right, let's get to the Niners, Colin. Last year's Super Bowl runner up, they

finally got Christian McCaffrey Brack at practice this week. Very good to see. He's had an Achilles injury throughout the season. He's expected to make his debut Sunday against the tired bucks on a short week. Trent Williams, he's so geeked about this. Such an amazing feeling. See that two, three out there doing his extensive warm-up and, you know, a million high-need-easy he does before practice. It was a great seeing him. Offensive player of the year. So really you could probably put him in any offense. It's going to make him better. So, you know, obviously, our offense is kind of tailor-made to him and some of his strengths.

So it's definitely going to be a tremendous lift for us. Total difference in the red zone. He is the difference. So they're going to go on a nice little streak here. They are. Rams, keep your eye on the Rams and the 49ers seizing control of that division. Rams, huh? Yeah.

You've been anti-Rams. I'm not anti-Rams. Do you know McVeigh is coming on the show this week? He knows one of us is fair and reasonable. One of us is fair and balanced. By the way, you see the pipes on McCaffrey there? It looks like he's been working out heavily. Oh my gosh.

You get a gun show. So you think the lions are a little nervous about this? No, because they just went and got a defensive end today. Christian McCaffrey, A.D., come on, dude. This is scary. I don't think the lions are nervous. I think that offensive line, they're not nervous anything. That's a fair point.

The offensive line is for me. Pullies. They're the most physical team in the league up front. Kind of wore down in the fourth quarter last year of the NFC championship game, though. We'll see. Brock Purdy. Here come the Niners and Rams, baby. And there go the Bears and the Seahawks and the Cowboys down the toilet. Hold up. The bucks are only minus six at Tampa?

Is that right? Yeah, that feels light. I have to, during the commercial break. Who's? I was thinking I take a mental health day tomorrow just, you know, because I've never got that before. I'm exhausted. But Brady's coming on the show tomorrow. I'll be here. Wait, in studio?

I don't know. I don't, you know. Well, you know, good to be in presence of greatness, right? You are every day. Ah, I would set you up for that one. All right, next story is the Eagles. They walk four straight and look to be on track. After kind of a rocky start to the season,

however, this A.J. Brown news, not good. Missed the second half of the Jags game due to a knee injury. According to Jordan Schultz, it sounds like Brown avoided a serious injury. and it's viewed as day to day. All I'll say about the Eagles, and I've been very right about them this season, without A.J. Brown, they are not nearly as good or dangerous. Nobody respects them down the field with A.J. Brown out of the game, Colin.

And I watch that offense in the second half without Brown. They couldn't do anything. They really struggled to move the football. Go look at that Tampa lost without A.J. Brown. It was bad. Yeah. No, he is, there is no question. He is, very rarely is the receiver, the engine to the offense. But the numbers don't lie. He is, I mean, as great as Larry Fitzgerald was, he was as good as the quarterback.

If Carson Palmer and Kurt Warner were there, he was really good. If they weren't, he wasn't. A.J. Brown has a unique relationship. But for the record, you know, Sequin Barclay, DeVonte Smith. They have good players. Well, wait a minute. Hold us. CJ Stroud loses Nico Collins, and they're not very good. We saw Stafford.

Now, he was down Puka and Cup, which is a little too difficult. No, I mean, it's become more of a wide receiver league. with the rules. I mean, you forget this. Eight years ago, you could just grab wide receivers. Maybe it was 10. But, I mean, there was a different time in this league when you could clog stuff up for a receiver. You can't anymore. The best receivers in this league are always open.

And if you have the right quarterback, I mean, last night, DeAndre Hopkins isn't even known as a great separator. He had eight catches. He doesn't even know the playbook yet. He has probably 75% of the playbook. Eight catches. And it's not like Tampa didn't have players in the back end. Like, it's just, this is a...

I always said, for years and years, I said on this show for 20 years doing this business. Receivers were just icing on the cake. They made it better, but they weren't essential. They're now part of the cake. Left tackle, quarterback, wide receiver, pass rush, or head coach. That's the cake. Do you matter?

No, you're probably right on that. Rules have changed it, yeah. Cowboys, seven and a half point underdogs against Philly at home, betting, that's a big number for Philly with, if A.J. Brown doesn't go. That's a huge number. I don't think they'll cover that without A.J. Brown. Even if it is Cooper Rush. Final story, Colin, is the Lions.

You touched on this a few moments ago. They were in need of a pass rusher after Aidan Hutchison went down, and they finally got one. With Detroit trading for Brown's defensive end, Zedarius Smith. Good player. He's not in his prime anymore. No, but he's a... Could he get you a sack in a playoff game? In a playoff game, sure.

That's what you... I mean, it's like the old Vaughn Miller. When he was over the Rams, he got you a sack plus every playoff game. He's not von Miller. But I think this is the right move. Yeah, this is not bad. I mean, they gave up nothing. They gave up nothing for him, and he can make a big play on a big third or fourth down in a playoff game.

That's all you're getting him for. He's not a game rucker like Hutchison or T.J. Water, Miles Garrett, but he's a good, solid pro. Again, I think the Lions are the best team in the NFL. I'm surprised they're not going big game hunting. Maybe they think, hey, this isn't just a one-year shot. You know, we're going to be good the next few years. That's exactly what they think. But is Ben Johnson?

Is he going anywhere? I don't think Ben Johnson wants to be a head coach. We got into this yesterday. I was thinking about this driving home. Not all guys that are two want to be ones. They just don't. Oh, wait a minute. Hold on a minute.

Let's just hypothetically say Ben Johnson's making $2.5 million a year as an OC. And who's the team that needs a coach? Let's say the Raiders. Well, the Raiders don't have any money. They're broke. Well, let's just anybody. Anybody. Ben Johnson, we will pay you $6 million.

We're going to almost triple your salary. What if he's got kids? To come be our head coach. Kids in a nice private school and the burbs in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, gorgeous neighborhood, doesn't want to disrupt his family, doesn't like dealing with the press, doesn't want to deal with a salary cap, doesn't want to deal with crap. That's possible. There is nothing wrong being the vice president of Pepsi for 25 years.

That's a great American life because they're not firing that guy. They get rid of the CEO. We got to find out what Ben Johnson wants. And here's the interesting, Colin. I don't see him at the podium ever. I don't see him doing it. I don't know anything about this guy. That's right.

Which I kind of like. That tells you. He doesn't like it. He's a behind the scenes guy? He doesn't love. Unless he's hiding something. No, I'm just kidding. No, I just, I mean like Cliff Kingsbury, I don't know Cliff, but I know many people who know him.

He did the head coach thing. When he went to USC, he said, I don't want to do any recruiting. I just want to coach Caleb Williams. He loved it. And when Dan Quinn hired him, he said, Dan, I just love offense. Right. And by the way, the reason Dan Quinn and. Cliff Kingsbury are working, and I was told this by my buddy Steve Kime, who hired Kingsbury.

He said Cliff's personality is more coordinator in the NFL. College, different. But in the NFL, when you have to be sometimes the tough guy and discipline, he said Cliff's not comfortable in that. Doesn't make him less of a coach. But some guys, they love that authoritative position, and some guys like coach and ball. So Kingsbury is unique because didn't he cash out pretty big when they fired him? He made like $20 million.

That's generational wealth. Single, he's done. So he doesn't need to. Now, Ben Johnson hasn't had that big payday. Do you go get the payday? Who's the guy who went to Carolina, Matt Rule? Got a huge contract. They fired him quickly.

He could do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. That's right. And he decided I'm going to go coach the Nebraska, right? Yeah, he's a better college coach. So like, you could go wherever you want, do whatever you want. You got generational wealth. Like, I don't know, Ben Johnson doesn't have that, but that's interesting. The Lions are not going after more.

That's right. Because I'm just telling you, there's a scenario where January rolls around, and this defense is just getting trucked by McCaffrey and company. Maybe even Kirk Cousins, your boy. Maybe they trust their offense so much. They don't worry about their defense because their offense will dominate time of possession, and the defense will always be well-rested in playoff games. My guess is their feeling is our offensive line is so dominant.

We will dominate time of possession, and our defense is only going to be on the field, even against good teams for 24, 25 minutes. we're good here. Let's go get like a B edge rusher who can help us make us better than we are today, but give up nothing long term because Hutchison's coming back. That's a good point about the offense because it's almost like Montgomery's like the jab in a box. And then they hit you with Gibbs and it's like, oh my gosh, look at that. They're a really well-built team. They're GM. Jerry Jones should throw like all the money at him. Come on, build the Cowboys up.

I've always felt that Aaron Rogers is a professional athlete's athlete. He's cool. He's got swag. He's single. Micah Parsons was ranking the top five most clutch quarterbacks in the NFL in his podcast. Now, he put DAC at five. Cover your butt on that one, obviously. But he put Aaron Rogers number three. And again, Aaron is confident. He is cool. He's got style. He's carefree. That doesn't make him clutch. So it's very, now, 2010 Aaron Rogers, you can put on that list.

But 2024, he's already one in three this year and fourth quarter drives trailing. He's one and three three cousins, meanwhile, has three fourth quarter combacks with Atlanta this season. but Kirk Cousins isn't cool and carefree. He's married. He wears golf shirts, religious, got kids, gets home early. So it's just funny. Kirk Cousins is an older quarterback of an Achilles surgery. He's been clutch this year.

Aaron Rogers is an old quarterback of Achilles surgery. He's been slow and immobile this year. And yet, it still endures in the minds of pro athletes is that Aaron Roger is clutch. If you go back, just four years, go back four years, I'm not asking you to go back a decade, just four years. Kirk Cousins has 15 fourth quarter comebacks.

Aaron Rogers has six. Doesn't even have close to half. But in the view of Micah Parsons, Aaron's the comics comic, the actor's actor. The pro-athletes, pro-athlete. Remember years ago, half the NBA players said they take Westbrook over Steph Curry. Westbrook's hyper-athletic. He's super aggressive.

He's got hops. You know, obviously who the better player is, we all know. But I thought it's interesting. Two old quarterbacks, off an Achilles' surgery, with new teams. And still, despite the fact, in the last four years, Kirk Cousins has two and a half times as many fourth quarter comebacks. Mike has got

nowhere near his top five as Kirk Cousins, and he's got Mahalm, Stafford, won't argue with that, and Aaron Rogers' third. The perception sometimes to pro, that's why pro athletes shouldn't be general managers. They don't want analytics.

They like cool, they like confident, they like swag, they like style. There's no question. In fact, one of Kirk Cousins' comebacks, I think, went in on Thursday night football. He threw for 500 yards.

It's one of the most... I mean, it was his greatest game, arguably, as a pro. Everybody forgot about it. We'd still be talking about that if it was AR. We still would. So if you've ever watched Bull Riding, those guys are tough. Bull riders are tough. But even bull riders know after about eight seconds get off that thing and live for another day. Don't be a hero. And it's a hard lesson. And I think it's one that Justin Herbert

needs to remember. Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, and Justin Herbert. Big enough, strong enough to stand in the pocket and take hits. All three are mobile. Cam the most mobile. But all three can move. Andrew Luck, Justin Herbert.

and Cam Newton. But they have so much confidence in their stature and their physicality, they'll put a shoulder down. They kind of like to get hit. They're bigger than the average linebacker. Big strong physical. But just because you can take a hit doesn't mean it's a great idea. Herbert is 35 and 35 as a pro.

And part of the reason is he's never fully healthy. Whereas like an Eli Manning, even though he's a big guy, had no illusion of what hits to the body mean. So those guys, the Eli Manning's throw it away, they go down, they roll over, and Justin Herbert doesn't do that. And yesterday, Jim Harbaugh, another tough guy was on my show and said, this is just who Herbert is. He's a tough guy. My own personal ranking, you know, and this is my right to have my own personal ranking. So I'm going to preface this with that, that it's not anybody else's, it's mine.

But I've always considered myself the toughest quarterback in the history, of the national football league. Being around Justin Herbert, I have moved to number two in the rankings. Justin Herbert is the toughest quarterback in the history of the national football league. I mean, this guy is, I mean, it's become like hack a shack, you know, the way, remember the old Shaq days?

And they just hack him. He's so big and he's so tough to get on the ground. that, I mean, the ball's thrown, and it could be the ball's 10 yards down field, and there's still somebody trying to wrestle and grapple him to the ground. He gets hit when he goes out of bounds. He gets hit in the head. He gets face masks during the play. It's, you know, it's incredible.

And, yeah, I just don't have enough adjectives to describe, you know, what being around this young man is like and just how fortunate we are as an organization. The first half against Cleveland, this is remarkable. He got sacked six times in the first half. Now, think about that. That is an onslaught. That's the most sacks. I mean, six sacks in a game is insane.

And yet he had a perfect passer rating, 14 of 16, 250 yards. As he was sacked six times. usually when a quarterback's getting sacked six times I mean they wave the white flag they're gun shy they get rid of the ball they got no interest they go down they get rid of the ball they unravel he had a perfect

passer rating perfect getting mauled by miles Garrett and the Browns it's very Andrew Luck and very Cam Newton I don't think you last long on this league but if you look at what

and this for the record this is why he is attempting the fewest passes of his career. Harbaugh sees it. Harbaugh understands, let's build the defense in the run game, much like what you watched with Mahomes last night, so we don't have to throw it 47 times. That's really, if you look in the NFL, even if you have Mahomes,

you really shouldn't throw it over 40 times. Ideally, you shouldn't have to. Now, again, right now, Kansas City, you know, they, you know, they get even worthy last night, steps out of bounds, doesn't have a lot of self-awareness on the, field, they're kind of ham and egging it and figuring out ways to move the ball. But the Chargers are for real, and it starts with Herbert. So the Dallas Cowboys lost again. They've lost three straight, and their next three games are losses. Philadelphia, Houston, at

Washington. So they're going to go on a six-game losing streak, I imagine. And the only thing that is really keeping Dallas from being a seller, today's the NFL trade deadline. So today, they should be selling pieces. And instead, they didn't. They made a move, and I'll get to that in a second and I think it's a bad move. But what's interesting is when Dallas has had the opportunity to draft reasonably high in the first round, they hit home runs.

Zeke, C.D. Lamb, Zach Martin, and Micah Parsons. They're actually very good with their first round picks. And what they should try to do is right now be sellers at the trade deadline, whatever you have to sell that's not named CEDLAM, sell.

They're talent light. They're not a good team. They have no momentum. And if you watch San Francisco play, Kansas City, Baltimore, Buffalo, Detroit, they're not even close in talent. Green Bay, they're not close. They're not close. And here's the advantage Dallas actually has. Other GMs are always afraid to tank, right? They have to convince the owner the best option is to be worse.

But the Dallas Cowboys have an advantage. They don't have to do that because the owner sees himself as the GM. So they have a real advantage here. They're bad. The NFC had a two-year window. It wasn't good. It's now very good and very young and very talented. Even the bad teams like Chicago were talented.

Even the teams we don't trust like Arizona are really talented. Dallas isn't. They need more good players. And because of DAC can see these contracts, they're not going to be able to go buy them. And they don't have a good enough coach right now to elevate average players. So it's a prime time to go out and beat sellers. But Jerry Jones this morning on Dallas, radio says, no, that's not what we're doing.

We're not selling. And so we will make that case. We're buying and not selling. So Dallas's schedule now gets tough. They haven't even faced Philadelphia. They haven't faced Washington, the do-best teams in their division. So what they did instead, they went out today. I didn't like the Trey Lance deal.

I didn't think he was worth a fourth-rounder. And I don't think Jonathan Mingo from Carolina It's worth a fourth rounder. I don't know what they're doing. Mingo does not accelerate. He doesn't have juice. He doesn't separate. He's a big, thick, body guy.

He's a number four receiver in the NFL. Maybe in a bad roster of three. But he's not, he doesn't separate. And so it just, the Tray Lance deal, the Jonathan Mingo wide receiver deal from Carolina felt like San Francisco and Carolina fleece Jerry Jones. And here's the other thing. If you look at the NFC right now, just the NFC. Dallas is the 13th best team.

The 13th best team. And by the way, we watched the 11th best team Tampa last night, and Tampa's got talent and a lot of fight. And they're getting some of their players back. The Seahawks have a terrible offensive line, but again, Seattle's got a good roster and good players. They can't protect Gino Smith. But, I mean, Dallas is right up against Carolina, the Saints and the Giants.

Jerry thinks we're going to go make moves. To do what? You haven't faced Philly or Washington yet. I mean, think about this. The Cowboys spent more to acquire Jonathan Mingo than they got in exchange for Amari Cooper. This is not a well-run organization. They got fleeced on Trey Lance.

They got fleeced on Mingo. They got fleeced on Amari Cooper. This is bad. This is bad. And again, just in the NFC, even the teams right now that are 500, the Rams, I got McVean Stafford, I got Pooka and Akoo,

I get a great young defense. San Francisco's four and four. I like San Francisco. Even like Tampa Bay last night, Tampa's got a fight in them. Between Baker, Vita Via, they got some good skill people. They have great backs. There's a lot I like about Tampa. There's a lot I like about Tampa.

Dallas is three and five, and I think they're lucky to be there. I think they're getting worse. So you just kickstarted something in my head here. I'm looking at quarterback salaries for this year. and I'm looking at the playoff picture. I'll rattle off the top five highest paid quarterbacks this year. You tell me what common theme you see. Dak Prescott is number one.

Is he in the playoffs? Nope. Okay. Joe Burroughs number two. Is he in the... No, no. Jordan Love is three. He's the seven seed, which isn't bad.

Trevor Lawrence is four. Playoffs, sir. No. Five is Tua. Playoffs, sir. No. Interesting. Highest paid quarterbacks in the league this year.

Four of the top five are outside. of the playoffs. And this is where Dallas is trapped. Now, we see Jared Goff, he just got a new deal, so he's six, Herbert, seven, Lamar, eight. But I think we're seeing you can't just pay the next quarterback. You cannot just do that.

Because you're going to end up giving him a ton of money, and he's just not good enough. It feels like maybe we're seeing a reckoning of quarterback salaries here. Is this the beginning of the end of, we can't just keep paying these guys? I think you and I've talked about this. I've always believed the NFL's got about

seven quarterbacks my entire life there's about, I always had a theory there's three levels of quarterback don't even pick up the phone your quarterback's so good Mahomes Lamar Herbert Josh Allen probably Burrow

and then you get into okay so that those five I'm not picking up the phone you could offer me anything then there's the next five I'm not going to call you but I'll pick up the phone older guys Aaron Rogers Jalen Hertz,

Stafford, I'd pick the phone up. Jared Goff, I would pick the phone up. And then there's the third level of quarterbacks. I'm getting on the phone and calling you. That's the rest of the league. So like Baker Mayfield, I would take your call. But I wouldn't call to get rid of Baker.

I like what he does. I like the fight. Last night, he's tough. He's tough. As I say, he's tougher in a $2 steak. I like Baker. By the way, 19. No wide receivers.

I has paid quarterback this show. 33 million. I mean, Baker is much better than his salary. Baker is basically making half of what Dak Prescott's making. And he's a better player. Exactly. No question. No question.

He's a better player. So it's a better ball. And I bring this all up because you know I'm all in on Brock Purdy. I love him. I ain't paying him anywhere near what Dak got. I mean, I'm starting negotiation like 45 mil a year for, for points. And I love him. I'm probably starting mine at 38 mil.

I don't know if you, I mean. I'm just, but I think there. It is an interesting. Like Sam Darnold's another one. I know you love him. No, no, no. Sam Darnold. Like he's good.

No, no, Sam Darnold is definitely in class two. Between, he's not in. He's not even Baker, is he? No, I think right now, well, I would say this year, Sam is better because Sam's got, I think, a better offensive coach. He's got a healthy, wide receiver. So Sam's got more to work with that Baker.

I think they're both very similar. They can both be a little reckless. They both throw a hell of a football with time to throw. they both move better than average. They're both tough guys, smart enough. I think they're very, very similar. I think Donald's better athlete.

I think Baker throws a prettier, better ball. But I think they're both, their first round picks. I mean, they're both really talented. Somebody might go out and be like, hey, let's give Donald what Derek Kargott. And I don't know that that's going to go well. I just... No, I think a big part of Donald's success
